(USS Exeter - CSO office - CSO Lt Erin Cortez - 0809)


As she looked at the data streaming through on her screen, Erin became
aware of a member of her knew approaching her. Without turning, she knew
instantly who it was.


"What can I do for you, Ensign Tilkrene?"


"SKREEECH. click clack tick tick" [Many humanoids have said to not approach
until they have imbibed the brown liquid.] "click click click tick tick"
[Since you have put down your cup and it is no longer hot, I have
surmised you have finished yours.]



Smiling, Erin turned to face the tholian exchange officer, "I have but you
can always talk to me I you want to. I'm not one who needs coffee. I just
like the taste of it."



"SKRRREEEEEE, tick tick click POP." [Lieutenant, may I ask a question, of a
personal nature?"]



Raising an eyebrow,  Erin forced back a smile and nodded, "Depends how
personal but aks away."



"click click WREEEP," [I have noticed,] Tilkrene began allowing the
universal translator to catch up, "CRRR click, click, tick." [That your
demeanor has changed.] "SKREEE click click?" [Is there a reason for this?]


Erin smiled, "My demeanour? Oh I understand." She paused for a moment,
trying to figure out a way to explain things without actually saying the
real reason why she was happy.


"Well, humans by nature are social animals. We enjoy others company and…
well, when you find someone whose company you enjoy, spending time with
them makes us happy."

"I have many people I enjoy to spend time with. My parents and friends for
one. However, there has been someone else that i have enjoyed the company
of recently."

"I confess that my knowledge of Tholian social structure is below par.
