Mission: Space was cool before it mattered
Day: 1
Stardate: 2446.04.25
(USS Exeter - Science Lab - Science Exchange Officer - Ensign Tilkrene
-0807)
Over his months here, Tilkrene has noticed a great many things on humanoid
social interaction. They are all puzzling. The humanoids often say things
with double meanings or with hidden meanings. Say one thing and mean
another, or drop hints and clues to their meaning hoping the other
understands. Why not just say what they mean? Tilkrene estimated that
humans would save over 2/3rds of their time if they just came out and said
what they meant.
Curiosity overcame Tilkrene who approached the one who was incharge,
designation Lieutenant Cortez. Given the modifications to the suit that
Tilkrene made to avoid surprising other crew when walking around corners,
it was likely the Lieutenant would hear the approach.
(Reply Cortez)
"SKREEECH. click clack tick tick" [Many humanoids have said to not approach
until they have imbibed the brown liquid.] "click click click tick tick"
[Since you have put down your cup and it is no longer hot, I have
surmised you have finished yours.]
(Reply Cortez)
"SKRRREEEEEE, tick tick click POP." [Lieutenant, may I ask a question, of a
personal nature?"]
(Reply Cortez)
"click click WREEEP," [I have noticed,] Tilkrene began allowing the
universal translator to catch up, "CRRR click, click, tick." [That your
demeanor has changed.] "SKREEE click click?" [Is there a reason for this?]
(Reply Cortez, any in science)

"There will always be those who mean to do us harm. To stop them, we risk
awakening the same evil within ourselves. Our first instinct is to seek
revenge when those we love are taken from us, but that's not who we are." -
