Mission: Space was cool before it mattered

(USS Exeter - Starlight Lounge - ACOO, Santiago Rodriguez Trujillo - 0630)

It was early, but Santiago had gotten used to it. Even though his shift
didn't start until 0800, he liked the peace and quiet of the Starlight
Lounge in the morning. An hour and a half before shift change was usually
when it began to come to life a bit more, but he had been sitting there for
at least 30 minutes, sipping his coffee and eating a small croissant. Well,
eating his third small croissant. He liked looking out at space, it made
him feel as if he didn't know anything. "You know nothing Santiago," he
would say to himself as he stared out into the beauty of space.

Looking around the crowd he saw one of his coworkers, Rylee Page. Since he
floated between working on the bridge and elsewhere, he didn't really get
to interact with her all that much. But that was ok, she seemed nice enough.

"Buenos Dias, Señorita Page." he said, his thick spanish accent filling the
air. "How are you doing this morning?"

"I know you don't have the bridge shift again today, but thankfully it is
on a day that there isn't much going on."

"Of course, if you specialized in comms, there might be more opportunities
on the bridge if that is what you want. Though, the bridge isn't always
that exciting. Sometimes it is too exciting, especially for this early in
the day."
