Lieutenant Williams suggested he and Roger go to the holodeck observation area to see the marines in the same holo drill security recently ran.

"It will be good to see how our new shipmates handle themselves."

Roger didn't react outwardly, but inside, he was growling. He understood there were times specially trained people were needed for certain missions and operations, but security and tactical personnel knew their jobs and knew them well. Unless there was something coming beyond his pay grade to know, they didn't need marines.

"If it's all the same with you, sir, I'd prefer to continue my duty shift and pass on watching the marines."

Roger knew he would surprise Lieutenant Williams with that, but it was what he believed. Besides, Williams made a suggestion and not an order, so Roger felt that gave him permission to decline.
