Mission: Space Was Cool Before It Mattered

Day: 2

Stardate: 2446.04.26

(USS Exeter - bean me up - FO Cmdr Alex Jones - 0808)

Coffee.

Alex took a sip of the strong, plain white filter that was his favourite.
Trixie, Makers bless her, always had it on the counter, in the time that it
took him to walk from the door to pick up his drink. She always had that
beaming expression, for each and every customer, occasionally asking how
they were. Apparently he’d warranted such a question this morning as he had
seemed “a little more red around the edges and much swirlier than usual.”

A simple man, Alex didn’t exactly understand Empaths, but Trixie took that
to extremes, her empathic skills, it seemed, sometimes alluded even
herself.

Walking toward his table he saw a familiar figure. Coughing slightly Erin
smiled, "Good morning, Commander. "

Glancing briefly at Trixie, who was watching the two of them with an amused
expression on her face, he realised the possibility that she saw far far
more than most could conceivably imagine. He was after all, rather swirly
now he came to think about it properly, and the dress that Erin had worn on
their date the previous night was a stunning shade of red.

“Lieutenant Cortez. London skating Champion 1814.” He winked impishly.

“So, any gossip?” He finished the croissant that he’d ordered, replicated
as a dough, but then baked normally, it was an interesting method. Taking a
sip of his coffee he looked up at her, an honest, shy blush crept onto his
face. “If anyone had a better evening than I did, then I’m not sure who and
how.”
