Mission: Space was cool before it mattered

Day: 1

Stardate: 2446.04.25

(USS Exeter - Personal Quarters - SF MedObs Cmdr Ailynn Bracken, Bar
Manager Caity DuBois & CSO Lieutenant Erin Cortez - 1832)

“Erin!” Ailynn smiled as she opened the door, welcoming in her friend.
“Apologies for the cryptic message. I have rather strict instructions.” She
stepped aside and led Erin into her quarters.

"I'm interested and slightly worried but I was told to come here.."

“Yes I know, and like I said, apologies for being cryptic. Tee and I are
supposed to help you get ready. Look, I’m not sure what he has planned.
Wouldn’t tell you if I did, but it seems it’s fancy dress.”

Caity looked at her love and just shook her head, "Really? You can't give
her anything?"

Smiling Ailynn shrugged. “Sorry babe. He came to me to ask assistance, and
whereas didn’t explain what he had in mind, he did say that the clothes
will make the experience all the more…real. Honestly don’t worry, it’s not
as creepy as it comes across. I’ll help you, then Tee will do the makeup
thing, she’s better at that than I am.”

"Creepy… no, little scared but got some advice recently. I'm just going
with the flow." She winked. "So.. just tell me he hasn't sent a hotdog
costume or something that is going to make me look like a clown?"

“Clown? No. it's actually gorgeous.” Ailynn led her through to the bedroom,
where lying flat on the bed was an early Victorian winter dress, a gorgeous
red heavy brocade button up to the collar.

“Thankfully you have the figure that we can ignore the need for the
corset.” She winked.

Erin stood looking at the dress for a moment. Part of her was unsure how
to react to the beautiful gown in front of her and the other part of her
was amazed that he had chosen so well. After a second, she looked at Ailynn
and said, "He chose this?"

“Mostly yes, he came to me asking that I make sure it would fit you, I made
the adjustments and replicated it. Nothing personal, but obviously it has
to…well…fit. No information than I couldn’t eyeball. If that makes sense?”

Erin nodded, her mind a whir with what on earth was going on and what he
had planned. Her heart was soaring at the fact that someone had gone to all
this trouble, just for her.

“Now, slip off your uniform, Tee, help with this please. It's surprisingly
heavy.”

A few minutes passed, and Ailynn stepped back, admiring the full effect of
the dress, and accompanying accessories.

“Oh my.” Ailynn blushed. “Mirror is behind you.”

Erin took a breath and turned. Seeing herself in the reflection, she
couldn't speak for a second. Biting her lip, she nodded and whispered,
"Looks good."

“Good? Sweetie I’d date you myself.” She winked. “It looks tremendous.”

Caity, standing by the door of the bedroom, watching the two friends talk,
smiled and just said, "A would have a fight on her hands because I would
definitely date you in that dress. "

Erin laughed slightly and looked at the pair of them, "I just… do you
think it's okay? I mean… I have no clue what is going on or what to do
now.."

“You’re dressed, your makeup is on point. What you do now is go to holodeck
two and find out where this is all going.”

Looking back in the mirror, a memory, something sparked in the back of her
mind but she dismissed it as soon as it entered her head. ~there's no way
that he… ~ she thought to herself as she nodded and looked at her friends,
"Fortune favours the brave right?"

“Absolutely.” Ailynn smiled. “Now, scram. It’s date night for us too, and
you don’t want to see me getting changed.” she winked. “Go get ‘em tiger.”
