Mission: Space was cool before it mattered
Day: 1
Stardate: 2446.04.25

(USS Tom Kazansky - Shuttle Bay 1 - MFO, 1LT T'Rix - 0500)

T'Rix stood looking a the beautiful craft in front of him, the Yellowjacket
Class Marine Dropship, the NX-52 Blackstone. She was a beauty, and he found
her to be more aesthetically pleasing than any Romulan design he had ever
seen or flown. To be honest, T'Rix was happy to get away from the Romulan
way. He was happy to be in Starfleet. That was a sentiment that many young
Romulans had, especially those from reunification families. T'Rix was from
one of those families. His father was a member of the Romulan Republic
diplomatic corp, G'Ram Sayreal and his mother, T'Vrell was a vulcan
scientist. He had asked growing up if he could join Starfleet, but was met
with constant nos. He was told that he needed to remain in the Romulan
Republic as an example and hope for reunification. That the movement needed
more time, that perhaps his children would be able to join Starfleet, but
that New Romulans needed peopled who were pro reunification now more than
ever. So the dutiful son, he joined the military, becoming a centurion. But
he was restless, eager, and unfulfilled. The rumors of a high ranking
Starfleet officer who was full Romulan serving on a ship with a half
romulan chief engineer did nothing more than make him restless and feel as
if he would never feel the fulfillment he so longed for. No matter how hard
he tried to suppress his emotions, his romulan side won out. He did blame
his vulcan side for his inquisitive imagination that had him fantasize
about life as a Starfleet Marine. A long tradition going back to the
Military Assault Command Operations branch from United Earth, eventually
evolving into the Starfleet Marine Corp. Of course all that changed when
the son of a high ranking Romulan politician went and "defected" to
Starfleet. The door was open, and T'Rix and a few other young Romulans and
Remans jumped at the opportunity. Oh how the Centurions of the Old Star
Empire would be rolling in their graves, if their graves hadn't been
obliterated into space dust, at the thought of T'Rix's generation wanting
to be a part of Starfleet. And here he was, journey to the USS Exeter, to
form part of a Marine Detachment, led by the officer who opened the door,
Tyrek Na'Rel. He was accompanied by 7 other newly minted Romulan Marines, 2
newly minted Reman Marines, a the rest of their detachment made up of other
federation races, and a half romulan, half human science officer. The lone
jumper amongst the 11 of them, split amongst the two ships, that did not
come from the ranks of the Centurions. She was also on of the few of their
retinue traveling on the Tom Kazansky. T'Rix was there to oversee the safe
transport of the Blackstone. The blackstone, a true beauty. In the
shuttlebay happened to be another ship, a red river class runnabout that
was carry upgraded sensors for scientific exploration. He approached the
ship to have a gander only to realize that he was not the only one
"snooping" around the birds this early in the morning.

"I see I am not the only one who likes to walk around shuttlebays at the
earliest possible moment." he said with a laugh. Neither his Romulan or
Vulcan side truly understood humor.

"You are Lieutenant T'Gemma correct, the science officer going with us to
the Exeter. Well not the only science officer it seems, but the only one
with Romulan blood."
