(USS Exeter -Muskogee - aACMO Ensign SG Heinrich Kruze - 0447)

The Muskogee had settled nicely on the surface of the planet. Heinrich felt a surge go through his body. He couldn’t tell if it was fear, excitement, or both. Which led him to believe it was probably both. Discovering strange worlds and new civilizations is what Starfleet officers dream of doing, but anything that’s new is unknown. No one retells the old stories because everything went by without a hitch. They tell the old stories because of the danger, the excitement, the heroism. All things Heinrich would tell you he’d jump at over a pint beer or a cup of coffee, but as it was time to step foot on the planet he was not too sure.

"So which one of us is going to be the first member of Starfleet to set foot on this planet?” Ronnie asked. Heinrich remained silent. He did not want to be the first person on the planet. There are other planets waiting for the feet of Starfleet officers, he told himself.

But before they could open the doors Jori spoke. "I have questions,” she said. "Because of the atmosphere here, is their any risk to our safety? Will we be all right breathing? Should we wear EVA suits or at the very least, respirators? Is there a threat to exposed skin?” She turned to Heinrich, "I just want to make sure.”

"Yeah, Ensign Jori brings up some valid concerns.” Ravok said, "I think we should be fine with just respirators, but I'm not the medical authority here.” He looked to Heinrich who, as he remembered that moment, was in fact the medical authority.

“I agree with the Lieutenant Commander,” he said, "I recommend respirators as a precaution, but no need for EVA suits. There’s nothing to harm the skin.” He looked for his respirator as Ravok addressed the small unit.

"Ensign Jori, Take point.” He said with a smile giving her the honor. "I'll take the rear of the formation.” Heinrich was relieved, though, given past commands he figured that made him the Buzz Aldrin. The second man to step on the planet.

He put on his respirator and made sure it was secure. The hatch opened, and warm wind burst into the ship.

“Ready?”
