Mission: Andromeda's Chain
Day: 1
Stardate: 2446.01.03

(USS Exeter -Muskogee- Cockpit - aACMO Ensign SG Heinrich Kruze - 0420)

As the Muskogee drew nearer to its destination Heinrich grew less and less interested in levity. The gravity of his first away mission was starting to weigh on him. And while Starfleet had done much through the years to update their protocols, away missions have been historically dangerous. He fiddled through his medkit another time to make sure there was nothing he had forgotten. He fiddled with his thumbs. He imagined shapes on the wall of the cockpit. He let his mind shut down into anxiety and inanity.

Lieutenant Commander Ravok’s loud voice broke him out of his fugue. "What? How?" He said loudly as he stood up and walked over to a terminal interface on the wall and keyed away a few commands. Heinrich perked up, his heart racing.

He listened into the conversation Ronnie and Ravok were having. Comms were down. Diagnostic wasn’t helpful. It looked like…

"Sabotage? " Ravok asked and looked around.

“Don’t look at me,” Heinrich said. “I’m a doctor not an engineer!”

"Well Ensign Jori was back here looking over the equipment and Doctor Kruze was with you. Only person on this vessel who had access to comms were you and I.” Ravok said. "Only person capable of dismantling or disabling Comms is me.”

It was all coming too fast for Heinrich the process. If the Chief Tactical Officer was the only one capable of sabotage did that mean…

"No I didn't do it." Ravok replied harshly.

“That only deepens the mystery.” Heinrich said.

"Look! There it is. A small encrypted command code was sent with Ensign Fuller's last message to us. The command code was hidden within the comm links carrier signal. I thought they fixed the issues we were having on the Exeter." Ravok said in frustration.

“I’m not going to pretend I understood that.” Heinrich said, “So you’re saying it’s the Exeter’s fault?”

"We've come too far to abort. I'll launch a probe towards the Exeter and have it emit a coded message to Lieutenant Alexander. As strat Ops he can decipher the message and bring it to Captain Brackens attention per protocol.”

“Does that mean we have to do this alone?” Without contact with the Exeter the dangerous away mission grew only more dangerous.
