(Toronto, Canada  -Toronto Metro Police Precinct – 2O/CEO, Lt. Cmdr. Keira Merek / Anna Hegilsdottir –1258)

“I picked up the gun and cycled it myself. I didn’t plan on shooting him, but I figured the threat of it would keep him from causing any more trouble.” Keira answered.

 
"Alright, thank you." Drake said as he finished writing down his notes.

 “Are we free to go then?” Keira asked. Sarah squeezed her hand.

"There is one more matter we need to discuss." The officer said.

 “What else do we need to discuss?” Keira asked.

"As you know the standard at trial is proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. I'll spare you the boring details of what that means, but it means that anything the defense could introduce that might cause doubt that the events are what they are. Within the realm of logic and reason."

Keira tried to follow where the constabulary could be leading. She didn’t know what he was referring to. “Where is this going?” She inquired.

"Now your little friend and his attorney are claiming that he was a plant, paid by you, to be there, to fake rob the store. That you'd stop him, but he'd get away in time, so he wouldn't get caught, then you were supposed to stay for pictures and convince the owners not to press charges. But instead you bolted. So the next question is, is there any truth to what he is saying? Did you pay him to rob the store just to get publicity? Not saying what he is saying is true, but we do need a sworn statement."

 
“He said what?” Keira said, anger burning in her voice, “I’ve never met him before!”

“Anna calm down.” Sarah said concern in her voice. “ At this point this is a he said / she situation, isn’t that right, detective?”

“What I mean is, they’d have to have some kind of proof to make a claim like that stick.” Sarah elaborated. “There are no texts from him, or any other communications that would be evident if they were in a collaboration.”

“I’d be happy to give a statement.” Keira said. “I have not before that incident ever interacted with that person before he attempted to rob the store.”

“Was that it, or did you need anything more specific?” Sarah asked.
