Stardate: 2445.12.29

(Exeter - Dr. Kruzes’ Quarters -SOPS, Lt. JG Billy Alexander and aACMO Ensign SG Heinrich Kruze - 1000)

The pair had finished breakfast and were going over the crew manifest to put together a team.

"We should get Sytuk. He's big and scary and he used to work private security."

“Now there’s an idea!” Heinrich said.

"We could also ask your boss, Vesper. He's good and prickly, could be a good distraction."

“But how much do we want to admit to him?”

"We should also ask that pretty medical intern. What's her name Lana something. Pretty face for first place."

“I already told you, I can be the pretty face!”

"Of course they might all say no. That would put us back at square one."

“Yeah. But at least we have a bit of time. Wait, what’s this?” Heinrich checked his PADD and saw a message from fBay. “Looks like we got a bite. It’s a … Mr. Turtle. Why does that name sound familiar?”

"I dunno. I have a vague recollection of Turtle soup."

“Well, he wants to meet with us tonight at the Hare Lounge, on Risa. Says we can name the exact time.”

"Why would a mr. Turtle want to meet at the hare lounge?"

Heinrich stopped, trying to register Billy’s concern. “What do you mean?”

"Just seems odd, you know?"

“You know what else seems odd? Waking up hungover in a strange room next to an urn that as far as we know was last possessed by a pretend pugilist from the 20th century. Where Mr. Turtle wants to meet us is the last of my concerns.”

"Where's your sense of curiosity, of whimsy, of adventure?

“You can ask the cat about curiosity.”

"We're smack dab in weird county and you want to stop asking questions because it's already weird."

“I’m just saying that there’s probably a perfectly good explanation.”

"Maybe, but if we go in, half cocked, guns blazing, thinking everything will make sense eventually. Well one of us might end up dead."

“Well I certainly wouldn’t want that.”

"Why don't you pull up some research on the Hare lounge."

“Right. Computer, tell me about the Hare Lounge on Risa.” Immediately the computer produced an article about the construction and history of the Hare Lounge. Heinrich skimmed it. “See? Nothing untoward. Just a bar founded by and for the Lepids when they’re on Risa.”

"Yes, by and for the Lepids. Have you ever met a Lepid?"

“Nope, never.”

"If you don't count their ears, Lepids are 5 foot tall humanoids that resemble an earth rabbit."

“Uh…”

"So why, in all thats good and great in the cosmos, would a Lepid be named Mr. Turtle? And don't you dare say because of irony."

“I mean, it could be?”

"Kruzetopher, I swear, I'm going to slap you."

Heinrich hated being called Kruzetopher.

Billy began looking at the computer entry on Lepids. "It says here that the Lepids inhabit a solar system with two planets with sentient life, Lepidia and Terepinia. The Terepinians are a turtle like species. The two hate each other because of some race two centuries ago."

“Maybe one of them defected? You’re making a lot out of some dude’s name. And it doesn’t explain why I woke up with the Undertaker’s urn in my bed.”

"Well maybe you stole it?"

“I would never! What makes you think that?”

Billy began laughing, "Because how else would you end up in someone else's room with a random urn if you didn't steal it."

“Well! Uh…” Heinrich sighed. “That’s a good question. Hopefully this Mr. Turtle will help us answer that. What time should I give him?”

"1200. Gives us time to recruit a crew. And maybe mr. Turtle will buy us lunch."

“Sounds good to me. I’m feeling like pizza myself.”

"So Mr. Turtle at 1200. Adjust the sale to 1900. Then we tell our crew to meet us at 1830. Ill recruit Wakeman, you recruit Sytuk."

“Alright, I’ll try.”
