EXETERRPG: (1 2051) SPC Nurse - CPO - Ewan McDonald

Day:01

Stardate:2445.12.28

 

(Risa –Suraya Bay Resort – Beach – Nurse – CPO – Ire Williams - 2051)

 

The sunwas slowly setting as the long shadows were creeping across the sea.  Ewan had enjoyed his first day on Risa and it had been nice toget away from work and responsibilities for a short while at least.  He spotted the beginning of a fire on thebeach between him and the resort. It was far enough away not to disturb thepeople at the resort but close enough for people to see it if they wanted to goover. As he got closer, he saw the barmaid that he had spoken earlier, and she waswith a small group of people. He began to walk further up the beach so that hewould not disturb them, but she called out to him as he passed.

 

“Hay Trumpetman we are about to have a play come and join us.”

 

He pausedfor a moment with indecision but turned and headed towards them. As he got closer,she introduced the other members of the group. Her name was Jiasre and herfriends were Lanhi, Deraan and Unaad.

 

“Hemaybe a brass player but don’t hold that against him.”

 

He grinnedback.

 

“Thankyou very much.”

 

He lookedat the burning bonfire and the sunset. 

 

“This isnice.”

 

Shesmiled at him.

 

“Yes,we do this often. It’s a nice way to relax after a long day. You ready.”

 

Shepulled out a what looked like a violin from a bag she had by her feet and satdown on the sand near the fire. The other three pulled at a mixture of string instrumentsand sat down beside her. Ewan smiled and sat down as well. He opened his caseand pulled out his pocket trumpet which was a compact version of a proper sizedtrumpet which made it easier for traveling. He blow down the trumpet andpressed the valves a couple of times to make sure that they were not stickingor blocking it. 

 

“Okay?”

 

Henodded.

 

“Okayso we will do an easy one for Ewan to get settled okay….good. Let’s play             .”

 

She lookedover at him a smiled. 

 

“It’sa Risan classic from my part of the world. It’s a folk song, so we won’t begoing to fast and its lots of verses, so listen to and then join in when youare happy.”

 

Ewannodded. He watched her nod to a Unaad with a guitar. 

 

“Okay.When you are ready.”

 

Unaad strummedhis guitar and began as the others joined. Ewan sat there for a momentlistening to the music with the soft braking of the waves. With the setting sunand the crackle of the fire.

There wasa soft nudge and he looked back at Jiasre who was playing. She grinned at hisand indicated his trumpet. He nodded brough the trumpet to his lips and beganto play quietly with the others. He saw movement out the corner of his eye as hesaw people begin to move towards them across the beach.
