(USS Exeter –Ready Room - CO, Captain Trip Williams- 0815)

Trip smiled at the assembled officers.

“Lieutenant Ravok, Lieutenant Cortez, Ensign Hammerfield, and Ensign Kruze,
thank you all for joining me. I’ll be brief. I have been very impressed
with your work of late, and it is time for me to show my appreciation and
admiration.” Trip stood up and walked from his desk chair to the front of
his desk where four small boxes were located.

“Now then, as I call your name please step forward.” Trip grabbed the first
box.

“Lieutenant Senior Grade Ravok Shara.”

(reply Ravok)

“Lieutenant Ravok, since I’ve met you, you’ve been a loyal and dutiful
officer, always willing and ready to serve. Fiercely loyal, fiercely
protective, any moment where I have had to discipline you has not been out
of actions totally unbecoming of an officer, but rather deep seated
protective instincts. You have been an exemplary officer and an even better
friend.”

(reply Ravok)

“Ravok Shara, I hereby promote you to the rank of Lieutenant Commander and
to all the rights and privileges therein. Congratulations Commander.”

“Lieutenant Junior Grade Erin Cortez.”

(reply Cortez)

“Lieutenant Cortez, I don’t know you as well as I probably should, and
there are times were I think you might be a bit….unique. However, what is
true is that you have shown dedication, hard work, determination, and have
always done your best for this crew.”

(reply Cortez)

“Erin Cortez, I hereby promote you to the rank of Lieutenant Senior Grade
and to all the rights and privileges therein. Congratulations Lieutenant.”

(reply Cortez)

“Ensign Senior Grade Janice Hammerfield.”

(reply Janice)

“Ensign Hammerfield, to date, you are the only officer serving under me
that has ever attempted to turn down a promotion. You have humility,
compassion, and a love for your fellow officers.”

(reply Janice)

“Janice Hammerfield, I hereby promote you to the rank of Lieutenant Junior
Grade and to all the rights and privileges therein. I also promote you to
the position of Assistant Chief Engineering Officer. Congratulations
Lieutenant.”

(reply Janice)

“Ensign Junior Grade Heinrich Kruze.”

(reply kruze)

“Ensign Kruze, you have only been with us a short while, but your
performance has been exemplary. I also know that Lieutenant Cortez owes you
her life.”

(reply Kruze)

“Heinrich Kruze, I hereby promote you to the rank of Ensign Senior Grade
and to all the rights and privileges therein. I also promote you to the
position of acting Assistant Chief Medical Officer. You still have much to
prove, but I have faith in you. In time that acting will come off and you
will be a full ACMO. Congratulations Ensign.”

(reply Kruze)

“Now then, you are all dismissed.”

Trip then smiled as the newly promoted officers left his office. This was
one part of the job he did enjoy.
