(USS Exeter – Ready Room– CO, Captain Trip Williams– 0903)

She let out a sigh, “Me – I’m sure if I said I was fine you would say I was
lying. Honestly I’m exhausted.”

 "How much sleep have you gotten since, well last night."

“I don’t know... maybe an hour – two? I wasn’t really watching the clock,”
she held her hand up to her mouth masking a small yawn, “It’ll be ok ill
see the meeting and catch up after it.”

"Well, tell you what, you're off duty after your counseling appointment and
statement. Take the day. Rest."

“How is everyone else doing? I mean im not numb to what happened but they
knew them a lot better than I did?”

 "Well, everyone falls somewhere on a scale of 1 to 10. Though no one
really is past a five, I don't think."

"Listen Janice, you've been through the ringer. You were attacked by Thorn
and then kidnapped. It's ok to be vulnerable."

Trip then passed her a box.

"You were supposed to get this yesterday, but well circumstances and all
that."

Trip waited for Janice to open the box with a gold pip. "Congratulations
Ensign Senior Grade Hammerfield."
