Stan did not have long to wait before a reply came from Trip.

"Ensign, that is a conversation for another day."

“ I see.” Stan said

"I will take it under consideration, especially after reading the report from Sickbay last night, from before you were kidnapped and what transpired there. But now is not the time. You went through a considerable amount of stress. After you have met with the counselor, after I read their report, and things have cooled down a bit. I will let you know."

He should of been angry. He should of demanded an answer. But as Stan listened his common sense. That had been missing since he arrived on the Exeter. Had returned and he nodded.

“ Thank you sir.” Stan said with a small grin.

"I also need to take into account your conduct in sickbay, and the fact that your actions resulted in three enlisted personnel and one intern in receiving a formal reprimand in their personnel files. So there is a lot to digest. Which is why I was hoping to have this conversation later, after you've had time to unwind and rest a bit. You've been put through a hellish ordeal. Let's tackle that moment. But in the meantime, since you did request a change and have gone through hell and back, here is what I can do, and what I must do. Publicly, you're suspended from duty for 3 days as a result of the sickbay incident. The only restriction is that you use that time as a minivacation and get rest and relaxation. So consider it, one part suspension, one part 3 day weekend. Rest, read a book. Whatever. During that time, I will go over your request, look at staffing needs...." Trip paused. Science did need an officer with the passing of Ensign Clarke, but he didn't want to think about that right now, "Go over your personnel file, and read the counselors report. When that is done, I'll let you know my decision. How does that sound?"

“ That sounds very reasonable sir. It’s been a wee while since I have had my nose in a good book. Plus the Loch Lomond program on the...... maybe not for a wee while. But fur all my time here I’ve not visited the arboretum. Lillian my doggy could do with some fresh grass beneath her paws.” Stan replied.
