(The Roadhouse - CSO Lt Jg Erin Cortez - 0114)

Turning on the stool, Erin’s eyes opened wide as she saw Nesha sitting in a
booth behind her. Standing, she walked over to her and took a breath,

“How are you here? I….”

Nesha smiled, “Yes you did. Part of me did die. Well, i suppose all of me
did but something in you needed to see me.”

Sitting opposite the woman, Erin rested her hands on the table between
them. Looking down at her hands, Erin became aware that they were shaking.
Closing her eyes for a moment, she looked at Nesha as a tear rolled down
her cheek,

“I’m so sorry… if i hadn’t….”

“Erin, stop.” Nesha interrupted. “You always feel that you are to blame.
That you have to carry the guilt with you. It’s almost as though you feel
you deserve this.”

“Don’t I? If i hadn’t shouted at her….”

“Then i still would have died. Her actions were not yours. You did not
cause what happened. She did.”

Wiping the tear off her cheek, Erin looked at her again, “He’s going to
blame me for you. I… can’t deal with that. Not him.”

Nesha laughed a little, “He won’t. You need to place more faith in people.
Let them help you. Erin, don’t hide. Don’t run away like you have done. You
can’t this time.”

As she opened her mouth to respond, a sound entered her ears. A sound that
she knew signalled something. It was then she felt something that almost
felt like a wind blowing through the bar.

Looking around her, she noticed that the two doors, one at either end of
the bar had swung open. Looking back to Nesha, her breathing quickened.

“What do i do?”

“Ieiuqh miin, rinam.” {Your choice, sister}

Erin stood and looked from one door to the other. As she took a breath, she
felt Nesha rest a hand on her shoulder,

“You know the choice you want to make. You know where your heart is telling
you to go. Which door to choose. The only question now is are you brave
enough to walk through it, knowing where it will lead and what you will
have to deal with.”

Erin looked at and as she did, Nesha began to fade slowly. “Nesha…. I’m
sorry…”

Her voice became soft, almost akin to a whisper as she slowly continued to
fade, “It’s okay. Truly. Tell him hwiiy A mnek
l'ta'fvull'aelmnaejaerhoaommuy. Don't couvæ a'e.”

As she faded away, Erin looked towards both the doors. The one at the back
at the bar that lead onto the next life and the one at the front that lead
back to her current life. Closing her eyes, she made her choice and walked
through the door.

NRPG: Purposefully left it as a cliff hanger because i am evil like that.
The Romulan that nesha speaks at the end had a translation that will be
revealed in time. LOL
