Mission: Murder on the Exeter Express

(USS Exeter -Holodeck 3- "Maxine" - 00:59 )

Maxine listened intently to the offers of both Sleeford and Hammerfield and
smiled. However, before she could respond, Stan spoke up.

“ Och she won’t do that will ya lassie? Nay and you know why. Because it’s
more sport for her to see us suffer. True. We all have our faults including
me. Oh yer if I had kept my mouth shut and acted better. I would of been a
lieutenant by now and an Assistant head of department. But I screwed up big
time. That I know. Oh I know what your say next. Another little speech
Maxine mocking one of us. Then no doubt another punishment? Just to hide
the true fact. Yer nothing but a bully and like most bullies you hide
behind others. Sitting in the shadows while your little team does yer
bidding. That’s why you sit up there hurting us remotely. Because facing us
in hand to hand combat. It's no fun for you.” Stan snarled.” Well. If yer
gonna kill me anyway. I challenge you to hand to hand combat. What’s the
matter? No sport for you?”

"I'm the bully Stan? You're the one who wants to fight hand to hand with
someone smaller and weaker than you. Is that what you consider a fair
fight. Knowing you have the physical advantage. If anything Stan, you're
like a little chihauaha, all bark, but no bite. Your teeth so small, they
wouldn't make a dent. What did you think would happen when you decided to
act all nonchalant? That I would ignore you? No, you acted like a petulant
child and Erin paid the price. Big brave Stan, all he has is his words.
Then again, you could have ended things before they began, had you followed
through with your threats to kill Tyko Nix, back when he was masquerading
as a refugee. Because he was rude to you? But you didn't follow through.
No, because you hide behind big words and threaten those weaker than you.
Big Scary Stan, threatening a refugee. Because he was rude. Did you think
they would have given you a medal? You'd probably be in a brig somewhere.
But hey, your friends would still be alive. Because I would never have been
on the Exeter, never needed to kill him. So no Stan, I won't fight you hand
to hand, because why would I give up the upper hand for you. You had your
chance to play and you decided that you wanted to take your ball and go
home. You think I am a bully, well the lowly always think that their
betters, their rulers are bullies. As far as I am concerned. You're out of
the game. You forfeitied. I should just kill you, but I'm going to make you
watch instead."

At that moment the stasis field around stan shimmered blue for a brief
second. He was now effectively muted. No matter what he said, no one on the
outside could hear him.

"Ire, sweet Ire. How bout you, you are the most gentle and kind person on
the Exeter. You wouldn't hurt a fly. Well, you would a hologram of your
fiance trying to kill you. Are you at your breaking point yet?"

(reply Ire)

"Tell you what, let's test that. You'd fight a hologram, because it was
self defense and you know its not real. But would you kill someone unarmed?
How broken are you?"

The stasis field around Ire dropped.

"Free shot Ire." Maxine said as she dropped to her knees. "I am unarmed and
surrender to you. What will you do?"
