(USS Exeter – Personal Quarters – CSO Lt JG Erin Cortez – 2308)



Sighing heavily as she sat down heavily on the sofa, Erin rubbed her temple
with her fingers.



~I swear if anything else….~ Her train of thought interrupted by the sound
of the red alert and she sat up instantly,



"One day I will learn not to say that." She said out loud and grabbed a
PADD. looking at the details coming in, she gasped as she realised that
something had happened in her department.  Something bad.



Tapping her combadge, she spoke calmly "Cortez to Ravok. "



(Reply Ravok)



"What on earth has happened? Is everyone okay? "



(Reply Ravok)



"I can't get there. Deck is sealed. Please keep me informed."



(Reply Ravok)



"I understand. Cortez out."



Sitting back, Erin closed her eyes. Realising she still had a hold of the
PADD, she opened her eyes and glanced down at it.



~why is it shaking?~ she thought to herself as she looked. Then, it hit
her. It wasn’t the PADD, it was her.



Taking a deep breath, she put her other hand on the PADD and focused on it,
trying to stop herself from shaking. Then, she saw the notification.



'My apologies for the lateness of this, but could you meet me in Nine and
Dine in one hour  for a late supper or an early breakfast. I think its time
we all got together and had a chat'



The message had come from Ensign Sleeford. Gritting her teeth, Erin fought
down a fire that was building in her and slapped her combadge again,



"Cortez to Sleeford. "



(Reply Sleeford)



"Firstly, this has been a long day so forgive the shortness of my response.
What could possibly be so important? There’s a crisis in my department
right now and I really should be focusing on that."



(Reply Sleeford)



Rolling her eyes, Erin sighed, " Look, I'll be there just don't expect
anything spectacular. Cortez out."
