Mission: Murder on the Exeter Express

Day: 2

Stardate: 2445.12.02

(USS Exeter - Sciences ante-room – FO Cmdr Ailynn Bracken – 2131)

“Hear what! I don’t hear anything apart from the computer”

Ailynn noticed that Ire had put his drink back down, perhaps in response to
her yelling at him. “Sorry Ire, Get your drink, I didn’t mean to yell at
you.” She removed the hair from her mouth and squinted at the ends, sighing
slightly as she saw the splits that were starting to form. ~damn.~

(Reply Ire)

She pulled her attention back to the moment, and drank from her fruit
juice, glad of the cool liquid, a vague attempt at vitamins. “The
replicator...the modulation of the voice...did you hear it? Here…” She
paused a moment, framing her thoughts. “Computer. Replay standard
replicator response from the unit by me.”

[Acknowledged, replying Replicator response.]

The replicator’s voice unit fired into life once more, the standard
response that they were all so used to hearing, but never listened to.

“Hear it? The modulation?”

(Reply Ire)

“That was the artifact that we heard on the raw signal, it was resonance,
the original sound and the recording tech run at the same variance. That’s
what we heard. The cleanup didn’t remove it as it was part of the original
signal.”

(Reply Ire)
