(USS Exeter -Acoustics lab- CFO – Lieutenant – Ire Williams- 2117)

 

 “I wish I could say more about the imposterbusiness. I’ll be completely honest there’s a lot going on that is simply underthe heading ‘classified’. Hell, even I don’t know all of it, which is more thana little annoying I’ll confess.”

 

Ire nodded as he tookthe offered headphones. 

 

“Thank you.”

 

“As the the soundclip, Trip has chosen a selection of random words, some common to try toisolate cadence, speech patterns etc others less common, to try to pin down onlinguistic variance. As you know, how we all use and say words varies, How Ispeak and say...Ashlyn uses words is very different. She speaks with a farfluid rhythm and regularly uses words that I have to look up what they mean.”

 

“It would be nice ifit was going to be that easy but I have a feeling that its not going to be especiallywith the way they killed Nix.” 

 

“It’s been runthrough the standard clean-up procedures. There’s a copy of the raw fileattached if you’d rather start from there.”

 

Ire shook his head.

 

“I would like to gothrough the raw file first. Just in case we get some bias by listening to the cleanup one.”

He closed his eyesand cleared his mind like he would do when he was flying. Concentrating in themoment and not on things that would distract him.

 

“Okay can I listento the cleaned up one.”

He listened to the othercopy and frowned.

 

“There is something,but I can’t put my finger on it.”

 

He gave a sigh ashe looked over at Bracken.

 

“Do you mind if Irun in through my data port?”

 

(Reply Bracken)

 

“When I fly, I jackinto the fighter and all its external sensor data as well as the fightersinternal information gets passed into my brain. I can process all theinformation and separate it out so that I can priorities it into what is urgentand what is not.”

 

He paused for amoment.

 

“I might be able toget something that the computer cannot?”

 

~That or one massiveheadache like I did when I did it at the academy party~
