Mission: A new day dawns
Day: 2
Stardate: 2446.01.29
(Earth- Home of Trip and Ashlyn Williams – SOPS/3O Lieutenant Commander
Tyrek Na'Rel-2008)
Walking back inside the house Tyrek could smell the food. The aroma filled
the house.
He started to head back to the dining room and suddenly his personal
communications device started beeping. He stopped and headed into a small
lounge area which looked like a small study, he sat the device on a small
circular table and accepted the communication.
Above his device appeared a holographic image of his father's face, Senator
Sokev Na'Rel.
=/\= Jolan'tru ke'rhin y'hhau….=/\=
Tyrek sat down on a leather chair next to the table.
" Speak their language father, all communications are monitored and I don't
want anyone thinking there is some scheming plot going on. Their professors
dedicated to the study of our culture are not as informed as you would
think. "
=/\= If it pleases you.=/\= His father nodded
" So what do I owe this honor ?" Tyrek asked.
=/\= Can a father not reach out to his son? I simply wanted to see how
things were going with your new assignment. =/\=
Tyrek drew a deep breath.
" Things are satisfactory father. I am currently at a casual dinner
gathering at the home of the captain that I will be serving under."
=/\= Is this a common practice for them? =/\=
" For terrans ? Yes. But for starfleet captain's? No. The crew that I have
been assigned to has undergone some recent trauma and while their ship
undergoes repairs and upgrades, the captain has decided to host a dinner
for those who will be most directly responsible for satisfactory or above
operation of his vessel, his key staff."
Sokev looked around at Tyrek's surroundings.
=/\= They still use wood for building materials? =/\=
Tyrek laughed.
" Yes father, but their architecture is on par with our own. The wood work
in this particular Terran home is used to reflect something called
retro...Terrans like us place a sense of pride on their past and have a
shared desire to bring elements of the past into their present. "
=/\= I understand. It seems like an adequate living space.=/\=
Tyrek interrupted his father.
" There is something I wanted to tell you. The daughter of the Carraya IV
colony administrator is the chief engineer of the crew. "
Sokev raised his brow in fascination.
=/\= That is interesting. I'm sure she will be overjoyed to hear that her
survivalist colony should be joining the fray any day now.=/\=
Tyrek shrugged his shoulders.
" Carraya IV affords the Republic fleet free range to adequately secure a
defensive border against a klingon incursion into Republic space. It was a
wise and advantageous move that will provide strategic placement of a
fleet. "
Sokev shook his head with a smile.
=/\= Do you have to analyze it with such a cold view? Carraya IV is more
than a favorable military stronghold. It's a world that has practically
stood alone for decades and the people have made tremendous use of its
natural resources. The dilithium on that world alone is worth more than all
the latinum in the reserves. =/\=
Tyrek looked around as he heard people making their way to the dining room.
" Father, as much as I'd love to speak with you more about dilithium and
things of the like, I really must be going. Give my regards to Nikara ."
=/\= Take care my son. Serve well. The beard looks nice on you .=/\= Sokev
concluded and promptly ended the transmission.
Tyrek stood up, and placed the communications device back in his pocket. He
brushed the wrinkles from his attire , straightened his posture and walked
back out and towards the dining room.
