Mission: A new day dawns
Day: 2
Stardate: 2446.01.29

(Earth, -The Home of Trip, Ash, and Ronnie Williams - 2O/CEO, Lt. Cmdr.
Keira Merek - 1830)

Glowing gently, Ashlyn smiled. “Of course Kee.” Unconsciously adopting a
close almost familial nickname. “I’ve been examined, poked, prodded and who
knows what by strangers. I have no issue with a friend. Here, any moment.”
She gently guided one of Kiera’s hands to a certain part of her lower
abdomen.

Keira was reminded of a young woman on Carraya that was with child when
Keira herself was barely old enough to understand. Word was that the child
had kicked in the mother's womb hard enough to bring her to her knees and
earned the nickname "Thor" before he was even born. She kept it to herself
and went with what Ash was trying to show her.

“Feel that?” Ash said as she felt a solid thump against her hand.

"Uh, huh." Keira managed to say. It really did feel like magic.

“I’d like to say you get used to it but that would be a lie.” She looked at
Kiera and held her hands in her own, and in that moment the understanding
made them closer as friends.

"Oh, and here I almost forgot." Keira said, bringing out the small burlap
sack. She handed it to Ash.

“What’s this? You didn’t need to sweet girl.” Ash’s hands shook as she
received the gift.

"When I heard that Trip was getting a ranch of his own..." Keira babbled
on, "On Carraya when a family first starts out the whole community shows up
to help build a home. Since you guys have already done that. Most pictures
I've seen of Earth ranches had a horseshoe over the doorway, I made one out
of sand cast brass, cleaned it up and polished it for you." Keira grabbed a
beer from the cooler, twisted the top off. "There's two iron nails in there
for hanging it.

Ashlyn felt her eyes well up and overflow. Waving her hand in front of her
face, pulling her emotion together she smiled gently, “This is quite the
gift Kee. Should I live one year or a hundred more, it will have pride of
place over our door.” She beamed happily, then dispensing with any
awkwardness or forality, she pulled Kiera into a close embrace.

Keira returned the hug with the one hand that wasn't holding the beer, she
wouldn't admit it in mixed company, but she needed that. "If you ever need
some help fixing anything, give me a call, I definitely know how to swing a
hammer."

Clearing her throat as she pulled away gently, “Now,” She cleared her
throat again. “I have a kitchen to run. She winked and nodded to the
fridges and the door. “Outta my kitchen.”

Keira nodded and smiled to "Household Six" saying: "Yes, ma'am." in a
jovial manner and made her way outside.

revenge when those we love are taken from us, but that's not who we are." -
