Mission: A new day dawns
Day: 1
Stardate: 2446.01.28
(Earth - Ketchikan, Alaska - 2O/CEO, Lt. Cmdr. Keira Merek & Chief of IA,
Vice Adm. T'Larah Sullivan - 1647)
Luckily, for Keira at least because she had led the way, there were no
traps anywhere in the property. There were a few questions about her last
interaction with Ravok, which hurt, bringing up such a fresh wound,
meticulous tracking of her whereabouts and activities, all seemed pretty
well summed up until they got to the hangar. They spent at least 35 minutes
there as they asked questions about armaments, cloaking devices and the
systems of both the snakehead and the scorpion. There were several scans.
One of the two guards had insisted on getting a closer look, in case
anything was hidden inside. Though Keira suspected, it was a bonus for him
to get a chance to snoop around, maybe he was a pilot himself. Venus was in
her corner of the hangar, chewing on a rope toy.
"As you can see, Admiral, everything is above board." Keira said. She had
over thirty minutes ago hung her cold weather jacket on a hook so as not to
over heat.
"Yes, I can see that," the Admiral responded.
"The craft," Keira did her best to avoid the word fighter, "has been
converted to accept conventional Federation power sources, mostly for
storage and safety. Wouldn't want an active singularity in the middle of
Alaska."
"True."
"The torpedo launcher is intact but the magazine is empty," Keira
continued. "Before Ravok had purchased the craft the particle weapons had
been removed. I wouldn't be able to charge them anyway as Romulan
disruptors require a small amount of antimatter, which I don't have. It
was purchased as surplus as you can see," Keira said, pointing to the PADD
that contained the purchase records the Admiral was viewing. "They were
commonly available once the Empire was in disarray. Though when he first
got them they were damaged. He and then later I had put quite a bit of work
into restoring these crafts."
"Any plans to put armaments on them?" The Admiral asked.
"Phaser strips, they make good mining tools. Maybe a turret for defense,
but not as of yet. Even if I did with only impulse power and
auxiliary active they wouldn't pack that much of a punch. I still have to
solve the conversion problem. The snakehead was powered by a miniature
singularity, I'll have to convert it all to a standard EPS grid before it
will accept a standard warp core. Right now the fusion core and back up
batteries put out enough juice to take it out and move around and if I do
reach it out past the atmosphere I might be able to charge half the shields
as long as I don't put anything more into movement than thrusters."
"I see, and your permits for such a modification?" the Admiral asked.
Keira was getting frustrated at this guilt by association witch hunt, but
kept her calm. Even if the Vulcan was singling her out for no reason other
than her former association with a wanted fugitive, insubordinate or
churlish speech could still get her into trouble.
"Here, as you can see, they're still pending. That have to do with your
investigation?" Keira asked cautiously.
T'Larah only nodded. It was a good catch that normally such permits would
have made it through by now.
"I see." Keira said. Ravok had estimated the likelihood that the permits
would be through Starfleet almost to the day, he spent the majority of his
time on the Exeter in a security or tactical role. She had forgotten a
large portion of his class time was spent in command and administrative
functions as well.
"Are we done here?" Keira asked impatiently.
"Yes. I believe we are," the shorter woman said. She let out a shrill
whistle and gave the hand and arm signal for "rally".
The guard who had still been looking through the vessels looked
disappointed but responded immediately.
"You can see yourselves out, Admiral." Keira said. "I still have some
prepwork to do, as I'm about to take my shuttle out for a little ride."
"Indeed. I apologize for this intrusion, but ruling you out as a
co-conspirator was necessary." T'Larah said, and gave the customary Vulcan
salute. "Live long and prosper, Commander."
"Jolan tru, Admiral."
"Trillpa, Sullivan, three to beam up," were the admiral's last words before
the trio disappeared into a transporter beam.

awakening the same evil within ourselves. Our first instinct is to seek
revenge when those we love are taken from us, but that's not who we are." -
