(Starfleet Academy - ACAD CO’s Office - ACADCO, Vice Admiral Duke Williams and CFO, Lieutenant Ire Williams -1430)

“Lieutenant, I don’t think I have seen you since my son’s wedding. How are you doing?.”


“I am doing well sir.”


“You know, this is the second time in your career you’ve been involved in an incident of physical violence.”


“Yes Sir.”


“Now then I am trying to get to the bottom of all of this, where were you when the brawl started?”


“I was watching the baseball game Sir. I did not see how the fight started but I saw Captain Trip go in to try to break it up so I went in after him. I saw him being attacked so I tried to help sir.”


“Did you attempt to contact Security personnel?”


“No sir as there was already security at the game I assumed that they would have already been called.”


“So you thought the best way to solve a situation of violence was to cause more violence?”


“Sir I was going to help my Captain and my fellow crew members. I was not going to leave them at the hands of an unruly mob sir.” 


“But did you try and pacify the mob, did you do any sort of preventative measure to quell the mob? Did you think of using the PA system. You mentioned there being security there, why didn’t you check with them before jumping into the fray?”


“No Sir. The Captain was in trouble Sir.”


“Do you realize that you, a senior officer, were attacking cadets, some as young as 15?”


“Sir most of the ones…...”


Ire stopped speaking and moved his eyes to a spot over the Vice Admirals shoulder.


“And what of the kid you sent to the hospital, did you injure them?”


“No Sir.”


“And is this not the second time you have resorted to violence to solve a situation when a more calm and collected approach should have been taken?”


“Sir.”


"Sir is not an answer Lieutenant."


“Yes Sir.”


"Do you recall how the brawl started?"


“No Sir I do not. I was preoccupied with getting food sir and it started while my back was turned from the field.”


"I see." Duke said Shaking his head. "Lieutenant you are loyal and are a man of good moral character."


“Thank you Sir.”


"but, you have shown yourself to be reckless, impulsive, acting on instinct rather than using critical thinking and rational judgement."


“Yes Sir.”


"Do you have anything to add in regards to those comments?"


“Well sir if that is what you think about me.”


He paused for a moment.


“Sir I take responsibility for my actions and will accept any punishment for what has occurred.” 


"You're not being punished per se. Your being given a reprimand, but one that wont count against possible promotion. You're also ordered to see a counselor monthly to help you with your recklessness. Is that understood."


“Yes Sir.”


"lastly, what was your Captain’s involvement in the brawl?"


“Sir. From what I could see he tried to calm everything down and tried to get to Ensign Jori who was being swamped by the mod.  He was calling for calm when he was attacked by a member of the mob and defended himself.”


"I see." Duke nodded. "dismissed."


“Yes Sir.”


Ire came to attention. Turned and walked from the office.
