"I wish I could have stopped him from attacking you," said Jori.

Captain Williams explained that she shouldn't blame herself, as she had known Lieutenant Commander Shara for just a few days, while he knew Shara more than a year.

Jori knew he was right, but it was small comfort. Part of being in security and tactical was being able to read a person, to anticipate a threat before it happened. She missed what could have been a tragedy.

It was said a person learned more from mistakes and failures. She resolved to learn from this.

"Well other than that incident, how are you settling in? Have you made any friends on the Exeter?" said Williams.

"I'm settled in my quarters, sir, though a few more decorations would make it more comfy." She smiled. "I had the operations department add some Deltan foods, drinks, and snacks into the replicator database. All in all, I'm doing well."

She considered what she should say about friendships, deciding to leave out what happened with Jack Roberts.

"Things have been busy, so I don't have actual friends yet, though Erin Cortez has offered to teach me archery. There's the monthly academy baseball game tomorrow. I heard you played in high school. You should come, sir."
