(Earth, Arizona, aCTac Ensign sg Jori - 1200)
Jori was excited. When she heard about the event, she couldn't wait to participate. It was going to be a lot of fun that started for her when she was still a cadet at Starfleet Academy.
Baseball!
Though busy in school, it had become a tradition to have one big game each month. Over the years, it grew so popular, even young officers that already graduated, were able to play. Since the Exeter was in down time, Jori got her gear out of storage and showed up at the field. Late January weather in San Francisco wasn't conducive for baseball, so the game was being played on a field near Tucson, Arizona.
Jori was wearing a white shirt, with her name and the number 17 in blue on the back. On the front, in blue, block letters, it said, Dueling Deltans. There was a white D on her blue cap. Her outfit was completed by blue shorts and white tennis shoes. Searching through the gathering crowd, she hoped to meet up with former classmates.
"Hey, Baldy, what are you doing here?"
Jori stopped, her head drooping. Recognizing the voice, she sighed deeply and turned around. It was Cadet Joshua Tucker, a senior studying engineering.
"Hello, Josh." Her voice was flat.
"Did you come back for more humiliation? The homerun I hit off you last year, I heard a sensor scan found the ball orbiting Earth." He laughed.
"Har har." Jori smirked.
"If you pitch again, watch out!" Josh laughed again.
As he walked away, Jori muttered under her breath, calling him a name in Deltan that loosely translated to flapping beak. Sighing again, she remembered that day.
(one year ago)
It was Jori's first time playing the Earth game called baseball. After learning the rules, she was drawn to being the pitcher, the person most in control of the action. She studied the physics of how to make the ball move in flight, so when facing her first batter, a Human boy named Josh, she chose to begin the game with a curveball. Insuring she had the proper grip, she held her breath, went through the wind up, and fired the sphere. It moved like a proper curveball, but it went right down the middle of the plate. Josh swung, there was a loud CRACK, and the ball took off like a photon torpedo, sailing over the left field fence by ten meters.
With her glove hand on her hip, Jori watched Josh as he rounded first base. Looking at her, he chuckled.
"You play ball like a girl!"
She wanted to slug him.

Teams had been chosen. Jori was on the mound. The first batter was Josh Tucker. Waiting in the batter's box, he had a smug smile on his face.
"Play ball!" shouted the umpire.
Sighing, Jori stepped onto the rubber. This might be her last chance to get revenge. She went into the wind up....
After hitting Josh with the pitch, a satisfied smile beamed on Jori's face. Josh got up from the ground and called her a name. She wondered why Humans felt the word for a female dog was an insult.
When Josh saw Jori smiling, his face turned almost purple. "You think that's funny?"
"Yeah, I do, actually." She chuckled.
"Well see how funny this is!" Josh charged the mound.
Jori tossed away her glove, her security training kicking in. When Josh reached her, she stepped to the side and tossed him to the ground with a hip throw.
Chaos erupted. People ran onto the field. There was shouting, pushing, shoving, and name-calling. Someone crashed into Jori, sending her flying into a throng of thrashing arms and legs....
