Mission: A new day dawns
Day: 1
Stardate: 2446.01.28
(USS Exeter - Ready Room - 2O/CEO, Lt. Cmdr. Keira Merek - 1402)
"Keira, welcome." Trip said, motioning for Keira to take a seat.
Keira was numb but functioning. She sat where she was offered. Placing her
palms down on her lap. She hoped it didn't look as uncomfortable as it felt.
"I know things have been rough of late given everything so thanks for
seeing me." Trip said.
"I honestly didn't want to at first, but now that I'm here.." she paused.
"It's good to get out."
"How are you, umm coping for lack of a better word?" It seemed he did his
best to break the ice gently.
"I know we didn't exactly agree where Rayna should go," Keira started. "I
said some choice words in the argument, that I shouldn't have. Because I
didn't mean them. I was lashing out in my anger and loss of Ravok and
Rayna, my family was gone in one swoop." She paused. "I'm sorry."
(Reply Trip)
"That does help. Truly." Keira said, her demeanor lifting from the somber
mood it was when she sat down. "Thank you again for reaching out to her
biological mother and allowing me further contact through subspace. Auntie
Keira has a nice ring to it."
(Reply Trip)
"Yes, him. I miss him, or do I miss the idea of him?" She asked
rhetorically. "I think it's going to take me a while to suss that out. I
almost proposed, you know?"
(Reply Trip)
"Yeah. I made a ring, by hand, gold pressed latinum with two strips worth
of latinum in a little box in my hand the last time I saw him. In his
office." Keira said. The first time she had shared that bit of information.
(Reply Trip)
"Trip, it wasn't him. He was too far gone. I should have said something."
Keira said in disappointment, mostly in herself. "I Should have seen it
sooner. I had those damn rose-colored glasses on. All the red flags I
should have seen looked like regular flags."
(Reply Trip)
"I could have ended it, in the jefferies tube..." she started. "I had the
blade in my hand. I chose the cord because I couldn't kill him, I was
hoping it would stun him. I had no idea about the nanites yet."
(Reply Trip)
"For what it's worth, Skipper, I'm glad he didn't kill you." Keira said
jovially.

awakening the same evil within ourselves. Our first instinct is to seek
revenge when those we love are taken from us, but that's not who we are." -
