Mission: The flames of purity
Day: 18
Stardate: 2445.09.18

(USS Exeter - Quarters – ACTO Ensign Paul Sleeford -07:30)

Sleeford woke in a comfortable bed and yawned, the events of the past
three days seemed like a nasty dream, the fact his new leg reminded him
that wasn’t, rolling out of bed he showered and dressed in a pair of shorts
and vest top. Walking to the replicator he ordered breakfast. Taking the
small tray, Sleeford walked tot he table by the window and ate while
staring out to space, watching the stars streak by as the headed to Bajor.

He’d not known Dr. Kyros well, just a nod in the corridors as they’d past,
he knew the man was a former Vedek, why he’d chosen to serve in Starfleet
was unknow to Sleeford. Stretching out his left leg he absently scratched
at the knee of the prosthetic.

Finishing breakfast Sleeford disposed of the tray and headed to the
bathroom, picking up the razor he trimmed his beard, staring at the face in
the mirror for long seconds, taking the small bar of soap he lathered up
and shaved the remaining beard from his face, towelling his face dry he
turned n the mirror, using the razor to get bits he’d missed. Washing his
face in cold water. Walking back to the main area of his quarters, Sleeford
went through a series of motions similar to Tai Chi to loosen muscles and
relax his mind.

(USS Exeter - Starlight Lounge – ACTO Ensign Paul Sleeford -1001)

Pulling the tight tunic of his dress uniform down Sleeford stood at the
rear of the Starlight lounge watching the crew gathering for the service.
As the captain mounted the podium and began speaking. As he listened he
recalled his grandfathers funeral in the small town, he ;lived in all his
life. The old boy had been born, lived and died within a radius of 200
meters, a feeling alien to Sleeford, the thought of being in one place all
your life and not seeing the wonders of what was out here in the galaxy.
Hearing the captain finish, Sleeford joined in the refrain of Amen at the
end of the prayer. Watching as people stood for several moments in quiet
contemplation as they remembered the man, they’d come to honour. As people
began to merge into groups Sleeford found a chair and table by the window
and sat watching the vast empty vista out the window. Alone with his own
thoughts”
