EXETERRPG: (16 1228) CMO Ens Gabe Vespers

Mission: The flames of purity

(USS Exeter– Sickbay – CMO – Ens Gabe Vespers 1228)

Rushing across the room Silvine had grabbed the tray ready to support, 
this mission had already provided them some interesting cases but 
knowing the FO was on her way in the tension in the room was up. The 
group appeared in the middle of sickbay Silvine stopped dead in her 
tracks, the carnage from the planet was clear, this could not have been 
a proud moment for any Bajoran, their religion was far more divisive 
than she had expected. Making an observation she helped Dr Vespers up 
who was struggling

"Come on lets get you seen to" she said but then looked at the mans face 
"youre not going to go are you?" she hadnt known him long but his sense 
of loyalty was clear. As annoying as he could be Gabe knew the meaning 
of family, be it blood or otherwise.

"Get me some pain killers and get Aiylnn on the bio bed." Gabe called 
resting slightly against the trolly

"Yes Doctor" Silvine said as she grabbed two nurses and lifted the first 
officer up, she gave Gabe a hypo and then closed the bed arms.

"You, take Lt Ravok" Gabe called pointing to the med staff

"Just move, hes been through a lot. Turning he looked at another Dr "Lt 
Foxglove please"

(reply who ever wants Foxglove)

He grabbed two more medics "There is another casualty incoming via the 
shuttle bay, get down there now and be ready, burns and phaser shots."

Walking up to the bed he nodded to Nurse McDonald "whats going on over 
there?"

"Ensign Page came in with head wounds, Euan is dealing with it but I 
think she needed surgery" Silvine replied handing Gabe the tricorder 
with Ailynns readings, a doctor appeared at Pages bedside and Gabe 
returned his focus to his sister.


"She lost an immense amount of blood, get the transfusion set up, her 
lung and kidneys have been punctured" as he spoke the alarms rang "shes 
crashing"

The sound of rushing voices filled the air but the flatline tone echoed 
around the room Gabe felt the hairs on his arms raise, the back of his 
neck went hot and he sensed Silvines hand on his arm "Doctor?"

"no, not now, not when i've just found you" Gabe said he felt the tears 
forming but professionalism stopped them from dropping

"Dr Vespers" Silvine said trying to pull him out.

Gabe looked at her, the ridges, the cuts, the blood. Thinking back to 
those that had been lost during the mission, the people who cared and 
those that didnt he never felt the need for faith; science was his 
religion. Casting his mind back to the woman he remembered the faith of 
Dr Reyle, when faced with an insurmountable task there was one thing he 
did, Gabe saw the whole thing in his minds eye. Feeling his mind come 
back into the room Gabe grabbed Silvines hand.

"We try a new approach, we pray" Gabe lowered himself down wincing in 
pain but determined he took Ailynns hand and in silence uttered what he 
could remember from Reyles prayer to the Prophets.
