(USS Exeter - Torpedo Room - SPC Ensign Greta Smith - 0831)
Sitting at her console, Greta knew she was smiling but she didn’t care. Ire was, at least it seemed, in one piece and back on the ship. The thought that he wouldn’t come home had now left her and she could now focus on the job in hand.
Looking up from her console, she glanced down one of the small corridors in torpedo storage and smiled, “Ensign Jisoo, how is the count coming along down there?”
The small asian woman looked over at Greta, “It’s nearly done, Ma’am.”
“I told you earlier, we are all the same rank here. Let’s dispense with the formalities. Greta, please.”
“Okay, Greta.” the young woman replied with a smile. “He’s quite a looker.”
Raising an eyebrow, Greta walked over to her,
“Who?”
“Your fiance. Not at all what i thought he would be from the stories i heard on mars.”
Leaning against the wall, Greta smiled, “Most of them are probably true. Albeit a little exaggerated. We pilots do like to embellish.”
“If you don’t mind me asking… why him? You were a pilot, commander of the white skulls. You could have had your pick of anyone off the base.”
Smiling softly, Greta looked at her crewmate. “Jisoo, if i told you why then it wouldn’t be a secret anymore would it?”
The two women smiled at each other and then laughed. “He’s a good man, truth be told. Would walk into a fire to save someone.”
Jisoo looked at greta and replied simply, “You’re lucky then.”
~Oh i know.~
