Mission: Murder on the Exeter Express

Day: 2

Stardate: 2445.12.02

(USS Exeter – Main Science Lab - CSO Office - CSO Lt Jg Erin Cortez - 1131)

Standing up from her desk, something had hit Erin in the last few hours. A
realisation. Not only was she not willing to hide anymore, she had a team
to lead. Whatever would happen, well, it would and she walked towards her
door, unlocked it and walked into the main Science lab with a new fire in
her belly.

~I’ll be damned if i am hiding because of one night. I’m not going to hide
away because of a decision i made that may or may not put me in harms
path.~ she thought to herself as she entered the main section of the lab
and saw a couple of her staff glance towards her.

Taking a breath, she looked at her staff, “Okay. I have a few things that i
need to say to you all. Firstly, i am sorry for locking myself away for the
last few hours. It was a bad choice on my part and i am done hiding.

Secondly, no doubt you have all now heard about the tragic death of
Commander Tyko Nix. Heck, some of you were even involved in the preliminary
investigation that has taken place so far this morning. By now you are no
doubt aware that i was questioned in relation to his death. So, let me set
a few things straight.

Yes, i was questioned because of something that transpired between the
Commander and i on deep space nine.” she held her hand up to stop the
inevitable interruption and continued, “Yes, it is true that we slept
together. I’m done hiding that as well. Did i have anything to do with his
death? No. I can only state that categorically, i did not kill him nor was
i involved in his death in any way. You guys can choose to believe that or
not, that is your choice as free individuals.

All i can say to you is that, from this point on, i am not hiding. You want
to ask anything, go right ahead. For now, business as usual. So, please, go
about your work, your projects. If you have been involved in the
investigation, until such time as i am deemed no longer a person of
interest, then forward all your findings onto Lieutenant Ravok.”

“Any questions?”

Taking a breath after speaking with her staff, Erin had sat down at a
console and was going through the latest reports from her team when she
spotted the report regarding the items that had been stolen from the
department.

On their own, the inert compounds and one gas were innocuous, not really
worth stealing. As she read through the full lists of only a few items,
something niggles in her mind. Suddenly her eyes widened, her heart began
to beat and she took several deep breaths,

"Oh no… no… no…"

(Reply any)

Slapping her combadge, Erin spoke quickly, "Cortez to Ravok."

(Reply Ravok)

"The items stole from my department. I know what they are… well, of course
I do but…"

(Reply Ravok)

"By themselves, they cause no issue. When mixed together, under the right
circumstances, they would become something other entirely. "

(Reply Ravok)

"Two of the four would make a gas powerful enough to knock out and paralyze
anyone within at least a 15ft radius."

(Reply Ravok)

"The others… could be put together to create a highly explosive compound.
Enough to do some serious damage if used by the warp core let's say."

(Reply Ravok, any)
