"My mother," Mac said as she sat down across from Navi, ~Are those Borg
implants ?~ "But it starts with my grandfather. I don't know the details,
but grandma died and he began drinking, making him a pretty horrible
parent. And that made my mother drink as well. She..." Mac sighed. "...was
far from an ideal parent."

Mac nodded. "My dad was twenty-one, fresh out of the Freighter School, when
his best friend vanished. So he got drunk. And mom was drunk as usual. So
they 'cuddled' and here I am." She paused, looking for the right words.
"When I first met him, I was really mad with my dad. But it turned out he
had heard that she was pregnant. She lied and told him she wasn't. And told
him to stay away from her. So he did. Until she died." She leaned back.
"There was a hull breach and she was too drunk to get to safety."

"I was raised by the crew of the ship. It was a garbage scow called
2381-17. They tried to get custody, but this mountain of a government
official gave custody to dad." She scratched her face. "He was a civilian
pilot when we first met. But he quit that and became a Starfleet pilot to
provide me with more stability. Settling in here..." She shrugged.
"...well, it's been rocky. I'm sorry, I'm babbling....have you got any
questions ?"
