He grimaced and Ranae wondered what was wrong with his food. "Samek mu'yor-yem," He looked at Captain Saleke and smiled. Saleke quirked an eyebrow in a very Vulcan-like way. " Avon ahk tu dun dum-bosh barkas hi dungi rai hau falek pu d'mallu." (Hunger is the most effective spice but will not add heat to a casserole.). Ensign Ammon didn't understand a word and exchanged a glance with Taya, wondering if she did. "Intriguing," he added. "Are you fluent?" The Captain asked. (Reply: Shurik) "Surprising nonetheless." The food arrived and Saleke leaned back so that the waiter could slide his salad onto the table. Ranae's stomach growled in anticipation of getting fed as her own plate of crab and scallop salad with creamy cucumber dressing was placed in front of her along with a couple of crusty rolls, still warm. She offered up a little prayer of thanks and picked up her fork to start eating. "Never get married," Shurik said sagely after forcing down another mouthful of food. "At leat not entil you know what you are getting into." Smiling grimly, Ranae couldn't help but think that she doubted whether anyone would even want to marry a Bajoran/Cardassian half-breed unless it was another of her kind. She took a bite of the salad and concentrated on enjoying her food as the two men continued their conversation. "I am certain Marto and Travis are aware of the pitfalls chief," Saleke said. (reply Rosanov, Taya, Saleke) (posted by Sal) ------------------------------------- (USS Mystique - Ten forward - TC Shurik Rosanov- 1747) He registered mild surprise in a slightly upturned eyebrow. " Avon ahk tu dun dum-bosh barkas hi dungi rai hau falek pu d'mallu." (Hunger is the most effective spice but will not add heat to a casserole.). "Intriguing," he added. "Are you fluent?" "Muhl hiyet hi yeht renkup'esfam (Well enough, but without true skill)," he admitted, "Bettar at butcharing it rehlly. Some of vords are hard to git my mouth around." "Surprising nonetheless." Saleke noted the arrival of the waiter and leaned back so that he could slide his salad onto the table. "Never get married," Shurik said sagely after forcing down another mouthful of food. "At leat not entil you know what you are getting into." "I am certain Marto and Travis are aware of the pitfalls chief," Saleke said knowing that the future is one thing the two had considered heavily because of their backgrounds and families. Shurik nodded as he attempted to swallow the large amount of food in his mouth, "Of course." It was a logical conclusion, but Marto and Travis had not been the first thing on his mind. "It's dis lettar," he explained, motioning with his fork toward the discarded padd. "From my blyadski ex-vife." He let his fork rest and reached out for the padd and recalled the letter. "'Dearest Shurik,'" he read, translating the German into English as he went, "'It has been eight years, I know. Ve haven't spoken in such a long time, Shurik, and I tink it is time dat I wrote to you,'" Shurik paused to make a disgusted noise before continuing, "I em hereby formally announcing to you my planned marriage--err engagement -- to a proper man." He put the padd down. "A proper man!?" he ran his hand through his hair pulling it back hard as he did so. He then continued reading, "I em aware that our relationship vas little more dan a glorified physical attraction," again the noise of disgust, "and I em now asking dat you send beck all of my possessions so dat I kin incorporate dem into my new life as a properly married woman." Shurik tossed the padd away again and took a mouthful of his drink, "Dat woman is more vork dan she's vorth," he hissed and proceeded to stuff his mouth again. (reply Saleke, Taya, Ranae) (posted by Justine) ------------------------------------- (USS Mystique - Ten forward - ACSO Ensign SG Taya - 1748) "Samek mu'yor-yem." "Avon ahk tu dun dum-bosh barkas hi dungi rai hau falek pu d'mallu." Taya looked across at Ranae and saw she too was looking wide eyed. Taya shook her head slightly to show that she had no idea what they were talking about. After a few minutes a server brought out Ranae's and the captain's meals. Taya leaned over the table slightly to get the server's attention while speaking quietly to Ranae, "makes you realize how much we take the universal translators for granted doesn't it???" (Reply Ranae) "Excuse me a minute," Taya said to Ranae as a server came up to her. "Hi, can i have a mixed vegetable stir fry on a bed of crispy noodles please. O and can i also have a cup of coffee, black no sugar. Thanks." Taya smiled as the server walked off. "Sorry about that, anyway..." Taya said turning back to her friend. "Can I ask your opinion on something please?" Taya bit her lip and inclined her head slightly hoping her friend would say yes. ~She's one of the only friends i have~ (Reply Ranae...Saleke, Shurik iyw) (Posted by Chris) ------------------------------------- (USS Mystique - Ten forward - ATAC Ensign Ammon Ranae - 1749) Taya shook her head slightly to show Ranae that she had no idea what Shurik and Saleke were talking about, just like Ranae. After a server brought out Ranae's and the captain's meals, Taya leaned over the table slightly to get the server's attention while speaking quietly to Ranae, "makes you realize how much we take the universal translators for granted doesn't it???" "That's for sure." Ranae replied with a nod, "I think I might try to learn Vulcan and Klingon in my spare time." "Excuse me a minute," Taya said to Ranae as a server came up to her. Taya's question filled Ranae with a pleasant warmth, ~is it possible she thinks of me as a friend?~ She certainly considered Taya as being her first friend aboard the ship. Ranae gave Taya a big smile. "Of course, anytime I can be of help, you are my friend after all..." (Reply Taya...Saleke, Shurik iyw) (Posted by Sal) ------------------------------------ (USS Mystique - Ten forward - ACSO Ensign SG Taya - 1754) Ranae gave Taya a big smile. "Of course, anytime I can be of help, you are my friend after all..." Taya mirrored Ranae's smile and dragged her hair to the front of her right shoulder. "I was thinking of doing something with my hair like cutting it or something but first of I don't know what and secondly I don't know if I want it chopped off and also theirs Jason to think about... (Reply Ranae) (Posted by Chris) ------------------------------------- (USS Mystique - Ten forward - ATAC Ensign Ammon Ranae - 1755) Taya mirrored Ranae's smile and dragged her hair to the front of her right shoulder. "I was thinking of doing something with my hair like cutting it or something but first of i don't know what and secondly i don't know if I want it chopped off and also theirs Jason to think about..." Ranae tilted her head and scrutinized Taya's face. The girl was petite in every way, her face was oval in shape with a strong chin. "I guess if you're concerned whether Lt. Dema would approve or not, you should ask him...But short hair would be very cute on you, the length somewhere between your chin and ears and wispy... Definately not as cropped as mine is!" Just then Taya's food order arrived and Ranae began to pull the crispy rolls apart and butter them. (Reply Taya) (Posted by Sal) ------------------------------------ (USS Mystique - Ten forward - TC Shurik Rosanov - 1756) Shurik shoveled more food into his mouth and listened silently to what the girls were chatting about. "I was thinking of doing something with my hair like cutting it or something but first of I don't know what and secondly I don't know if I want it chopped off and also theirs Jason to think about..." He watched as Ranae tilted her head and considered the shape of Taya's face. "I guess if you're concerned whether Lt. Dema would approve or not, you should ask him...But short hair would be very cute on you, the length somewhere between your chin and ears and wispy... Definitely not as cropped as mine is!" She finally said. He pushed his food away from him deeming it too cold to enjoy and finished his drink before adding to the conversation. "If a man cares more for your hair than for you, It's not worth the trouble." It didn't sound as good in words as it did in his head. He grabbed his padd and began to reread the letter again to himself. What did Clotilda expect him to say? (reply any at the table) (posted by Justine) ------------------------------------- Stardate: 2407.02.19 ------------------------------------- (USS Mystique – Security Chief Fredericks cabin, John Fredericks - 0528) John was catching a few hours sleep after going through the security roster and trying to familiarize himself with this ships layout and trying also to learn the layout of the Hades. He would be glade to get moved over as the passageways of each ship were starting to cross over into each other in his mind and he was starting to image himself being lost of endless hallways in his dreams. Kind of like being back at the academy. The next thing he was aware of was being rudely woken up by the sound of an explosion. This was followed by another and then at almost the same time by two more. By the time the second had started to fade he was out of bed and almost into his uniform. By the time the last of the four had gone off and the reverberations had started to cease he had armed himself and was heading towards the door to his quarters and then nearest turbo lift and from there to security. He had almost reached the door to his cabin when his comm badge went off. Lieutenant Fredericks. I want all decks sealed immediately, we have a saboteur aboard, engineering damage repair teams only are to be allowed to pass security checkpoints. I also want teams dispatched around the ship to search for unexploded ordinance, do NOT assume all explosives have been detonated until the ship has been searched thoroughly. =/\=Aye sir=/\=, Fredericks replied. He tapped the badge again and called Security to initiate the internal scans of the ship but was told of the current failure of the ships systems including internal scanning. =/\=Call all security hands to the watch. We’ll have to search this thing top to bottom by hand. Find me two well known security members rated to fly a shuttle. I’ll be there in a few minutes and I want them there before I get there. Fredericks out=/\=. John tapped the badge again. =/\=Hanger, this is Security Chief Fredericks. I want a shuttle prepped and ready. Our internal sensors are down and I will be sending two security men to take the shuttle outside and use it’s scanners to help search the ship=/\=. Fredericks out. (reply any) (Posted by Kirk McClendon) ------------------------------------- (USS Mystique - Personal Quarters- CMO Lt (jg) Vren Marto - 0528) Marto was lying awake again. She had lost count of how many nights sleep she had lost since they had started planning this wedding. Well, if Marto was going to be honest with herself that wasn't strictly true. When she and Travis had started planning this wedding it was going to be small, quiet, and apart from those invited, hardly anyone would have noticed that it was taking place. Now it was all Vedeks, and families, and Klingon traditions, and stupid comments like, 'what are you wearing?' She had simply assumed that her dress uniform would be fine. Now, haven spoken to Dama and Edra, it seems that it wasn't anymore and Marto was supposed to go find the 'perfect' dress to wear for the ceremony, over and above everything else she had to do. Everytime she lay down to sleep all the arrangements started churning around in her brain until they made her dizzy and every morning when she got up from another sleepless night it was exactly the same. This morning wasn't going to be any better obviously, so she donned her dressing gown and quietly headed into the main room. The first time she felt the tremor she just assumed that it was a symptom of another sleepless night. The second tremor woke her up completely and she was already on her way to dress when the red alert sounded. The third knocked her off her feet and she had only just regained them again when the fourth threw her across the bed, waking Travis up too. Climbing into her uniform as quickly as she could she filled Travis in. "Three or possible four explosions. Definitely on the ship, not outside. I'm off to Sickbay," Grabbing her medical kit she was already running half way down the corridor before she realised that she hadn't even said goodbye to Travis, but putting all other considerations aside she kept running, tapping her commbadge at the same time. "All medical personnel report to Sickbay." The next minute she heard the Captain's voice over the intercom =/\= All maintenance engineering and damage control teams are to be assembled immediately. Team 1 to the Computer core to access damage there and begin repairs, Team 2 to deck A and the TIC information control area and team 3 to Deck B to access damage to the dorsal sail area. All emergency medical teams assemble and stand by for casualty reports." But he wasn't through. "Intruder alert all decks. I repeat intruder alert. =/\= (Posted by Marilyn) ------------------------------------ (USS Mystique - Personal quarters - Ensign Cynthia Darson - 529) The first hard tremor shook the glass panel's of Cindy's sonic stall. Her shower ended abruptly as the vibration subsided and she looked around as fluctuating lights phased between dim and bright. She pushed through the door and threw on her robe quickly when the ship shook more violently. Instinctively she knelt on the floor in case another such tremor might try to knock her from her feet. "Computer,..." another vibration cut her off and she waited. ~An explosion.~ "Computer, what's happening," she called out. Silence was the only reply. ~This isn't good.~ Thoughts of the computer shut down during the Dian Chang incident flew through her mind. ~We can't be under direct attack in a spacedock,~ she thought to herself. ~Or can we?~ She counted off sixty slices of eternity normally called seconds before tentatively deciding that everything had calmed. She stood and rushed to her closet to dress quickly then flew out the door. She suppressed the urge to head for security and jump in the middle of everything. If Dema or Fredericks needed her help they would call. There seemed to be nothing else for it but to get to the Astromech Lab early and see if everything was still intact. (Posted by David) ----------------------------------- (USS Mystique - Personal Quarters- COPS/3rd Officer Lt. Travis Keswick- 0530) Travis was awaken by the sounds of an explosion and the subsequent rumble of the ship as Travis struggled to his feet by keeping his balance by grabbing ahold of the night stand. Marto filled him in about the explosions around the ship and was out the door and on her way to sickbay as Travis threw on his uniform as he herd Saleke over the Intercom. =/\= All maintenance engineering and damage control teams are to be assembled immediately. Team 1 to the Computer core to access damage there and begin repairs, Team 2 to deck A and the TIC information control area and team 3 to Deck B to access damage to the dorsal sail area. I repeat intruder alert. =/\= Travis grabbed his tricorder and his hand phaser and headed for the computer core to Asses the damage to ships power. -------------------------------------------- (USS Mystique - Sickbay - CMO Lt (jg) Vren Marto - 0535) Marto reached Sickbay along with a large crowd of medical personnel who immediately began bombarding her with questions. Holding up her hand she managed to stop the onslaught only to be pounced on by Ensign Physioc. "Dr. I need to be discharched. I can help. What's going on?" Marto barely looked at him. "Ensign if you heard the last message then you know as much as I do. Now get out of my way," Marto began organising the staff into triage teams and getting supplies stacked near the door. "Security checkpoints are being set up so expect to be held there until the areas have been cleared." Picking four of the people nearest her she told them to search Sickbay thoroughly. "How should I know what kind of device you're looking for? Look for anything that doesn't look like it belongs here." She was interrupted again by Ensign Physioc, I Have to help. Dr. Look I'm fine," Ash said as he grinned and then jumped up and down waving his arms - that was until he was struck by more pain in his side and he curled up on the floor. Determined to let the CMO let him go he stood up and smiled. "Cramp - That's all, nothing to worry about." Marto stared at Physioc and her mouth curled up into a smile at one side. The image of him jumping around her Sickbay had been mildly amusing and her smile deepened as she ran her tricorder over him. "Nice try Ensign, now go back to your bed and try to keep out of our way until we have time for you". Immediately forgetting him she turned to the head nurse who had been quietly standing waiting for her. "Ok, Kitty what have you got?" "The triage teams are already spreading out around the ship. Communications are down so we won't know what casualties to expect until they arrive. Transporters are also down so everyone will have to be brought here manually. The computer's down too so none of the biobeds are working. We will have to use good old fashioned medical diagnosis and treatment and obviously since the computer is out then the EMH is unavailable. We can't set up emergency treatment centres until an area has been cleared as safe so all casualties will have to come here in the short term at least until either the holodecks or the cargo bays have been cleared for use. Finally, some good news. The search teams found nothing in Sickbay so it looks like we're in the clear." Marto was just about to comment when a shout interrupted her. "Damn you all - Be QUIET" Ensign Physioc shouted at the top of his voice. He caught some attention this time and some of the Medical Personnel turned his way, "Can you not hear it?" Ash asked them curiously... "The ticking? Can you not hear it." Ash said, begging them to understand. He couldn't be imaging it, he WASN'T crazy. He shook his head, it was still there "Tick, Tick, Tick" Although the pace hadn't changed to much he could tell it had got a tiny bit faster. "There's a Bomb somewhere..." He said weakly. Marto looked across at the Ensign, "Not possible, we've checked Sickbay, it's clear." Searching his face Marto realised that he really believed he could hear something. ~Well, if it's not Sickbay then where.~ she wondered, ~this floor was mostly Medical, Science and quarters there was nothing she would consider a target here and nothing either on the deck below them. What was on the deck above~ Marto wracked her brains trying to call up the layout of the ship. ~Again nothing much, more quarters, the Holodecks and............. what else?,,,,,,,,,,,,~ "Oh Prophets, the Primary Sheild Generators!" Marto hadn't realised that she had said it out loud until she looked at the understanding dawning on Kitty's face. "Out" she shouted, as she grabbed Ensign Physioc and started pushing people in front of her towards the doors "Everyone out of here now." Propelling Physioc and Kitty in front of her Marto almost made it to the doors when the world went white and then black. Travis made his way threw the rubble and smoke into what was left of the Computer core which was not much. Travis quickly grabbed fire extinguisher and began putting out the small fires around the remains of a computer console. Travis then began attending to the wounded. Travis ripped off one of his sleeves and he pressed it firmly on head of an older crewman who had a gash across his for head. "I was on my way to help Ensign Simpson with a simple diagnostic of the corp when there was an explosion." The crewman said "Oh my god She is was in there when it blowup. He said has he tried to get up but Travis held him down. "Don't move you have a pretty bad cut on your head. Travis said as the Emergency medical team rushed in. "I will take it from here. A young medic said stepping in to look over the wounded man. Travis stood up and began looking threw the mess moving beams and pieces bulkheads when he came across a hand in under a piece of bulkhead. Travis quickly moved the bulkhead to find what was left of Ensign Simpson. Travis stepped back stunned to see the bloody and mangled remains. "Over hear I found Ensign Simpson." Travis said motioning to the nearest medical officer. "She must have been standing next to the bomb when it went off. Travis said when the medical officer moved next to him and look with shock at the bloody remains. When the damage control team started getting to work when his combadge went off. "Travis this is Jason." "Travis here go ahead." he said taping his combadge. "As you know by now we have had four explosions and think whoever set them may be using them as a warning and has more on board." "Understood what do you need." Travis said heading out of the computer room. "I need you to gather your men not on the bridge and set up a search party to help us find any explosives left, you can start with life support and work your way to the computer core and Pattia, we need to find out if she's all right also." The readings comfirmed what the captain had said. There was indeed a saboteur onboard, and if he found out who it was... Mechanical explosions were nothing Norm took lightly. His knee ached at the though of such things and he grimaced as he tried to ignore the phantom pains. He jogged toward the Inertial Dampening System. Hudson, his legs shorter than Norm's, followed as close as he could with out emitting too much energy. Norm had been first to notice the heavy sluggish feeling that began to wave across the section, but that was a mere result of his size and consiquent weight. Hudson now felt the heaviness and understood Norm's sudden attraction to the Inertial Dampening System. "Hudson," Norm called over his shoudler, "Run a scan on all systems again. And see how if there's anything that can be done to ade the transporter technicians. I have the feeling they're going to become a major help," he then added under his breath, "If they ever get them running again..." He tapped his comm badge as he crept up on his destination, "Lieutenant Norman Harper to Lieutenant Commander Mason Garrett." He called. There was no reply. Eyes forced open, he scrambled back to the bed he had been assigned in Sickbay. The first small tremor he had felt had awoken his mind to the situation although he didn't expect anything to be happening he fell back to sleep almost as suddenly as he had awoke. The second 'explosion' - to what Ash thought they were had happened a lot closer than the last and had sent Ash hurtling off his bed into the wall opposite - Not a good thing to happen to him considering his injuries already. As he Scrambled back towards the bed another tremble went of and made him fall over once again. He had decided moving was futile, He decided to sit where he was. In the middle of sickbay he writhed in pain as he side had exploded with pain as he hit the wall. ~Why me?~ He had thought for an instant and then remembered it was his decision to fight on Geneva one he had paid for then, and apparently now. He longed to know what was happening to the ship, he didn't expect not to be able to access a console. He struggled to stand straight and then walked over to the nearest console, as he accessed it the circuitry fuzzed and then the console blew, sending him once more flying in an oblivion into the second wall of the morning... His head pounding now, he stood up and shook of the dizziness. Adrenaline now running through his veins and his mind working overtime trying to figure out what was going on, he managed to forget about the pain for a while and rushed around Sickbay. There was limited staff - about 2 or 5 nurses hustling around after him trying to get him to lie back down. Physioc refused he had to know what was going on. As he skidded to a halt outside it he realized he was being idiotic expecting Marto to actually be in there. He turned to one of the Nurses, "Do you know where, Dr. Marto is?" He HAD to do something, it was his duty to do something... He couldn't let anything happen to the Mystique. As he sat there absorbed in his own thoughts he could hear something... Very faint, almost so faint he wasn't sure he had heard it at first. He crossed it off the first time he heard it as Paranoia, ~No way~ Ash thought to himself... Although it would make sense, If the Saboteur was going to injure people Sickbay would be a likely target. He listened harder and harder until he heard it again. "Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick" It was slow, not very fast - but very faint. Ash jumped up. "SHHHH" He shouted, no one took any notice of him. He could still hear it, "Damn you all - Be QUIET" He shouted at the top of his voice. He caught some attention this time and some of the Medical Personnel turned his way, "Can you not hear it?" "What's going on, Ms. Darson," one of the science techs voiced the inquiry with a tremulous voice. "Everyone remain calm," she said. The knot of fear in her own gut made her feel like a hypocrite for saying that, but they were looking to her for some kind of order. "Whatever has happened, it seems to have stopped." That much was a relief. "For now, the best we can do is check over our own equipment." Obviously, the explosions hadn't damaged the lab directly but it did no harm to check things over, and it would give her people something to keep themselves busy. She tapped her combadge. "Doctor Gralin." (Reply: Gralin) (Posted by David) ------------------------------------- (USS Mystique - Life sciences lab- CSO, Lt. Commander Holis Gralen - 0538) Holis was busy fuming as he stalked about the life sciences lab and waited for his department to report in which many of them had but few had arrived at the lab as of yet, his ruminations were interrupted by the dulcet tones of a female voice over the comlink. =^=Doctor Gralen.=^= That voice sounded familiar and since he had met so few so far he placed it quickly. "Ensign Darson I believe?" (Reply: Cynthia) "Yes ensign, I have something for you to do. Bring your technicians with you and report to the life sciences lab, once here I'll let you know what's going on. I'm waiting for Ensign Taya and the rest of the department to show up." (Reply: Cynthia) "As I said I'll let everyone know when we're all together, this is one of those things you don't want to have to say a dozen times. See you shortly, Gralen out." (Reply: Cynthia) (Posted by Charles) ------------------------------------ (USS Mystique – Sickbay - AOPS/CONN - Ens(jg) Ash Physioc - 0540) Ash watched Vren Marto process what he was saying in her mind. ~She has to believe me~ "Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick" ~Its got faster~ "Its got faster" He then repeated out loud, he wasn't sure if anyone was paying much attention to him but he knew Marto was still trying to figure something out. "Oh Prophets, the Primary Shield Generators!....Out Marto shouted, as she grabbed Ensign Physioc and started pushing people in front of her towards the doors "Everyone out of here now." "Jesus, I'm going" Ash said smiling - realizing someone on the Mystique had listened to him for once. He soon regretted dawdling as he could here the ticking stop. ~What the?~ He thought as he was forced out of the sickbay doors by Vren and then almost in perfect time with him landing on the deck there was an almighty boom from above him. ~Cr*p~ He thought as he rolled into another wall. Un-dazed by it he stood up all pain being released from him and being turned into energy and fear. Ash began looking around the corridor, he noticed the Nurse Kitty. "Nurse, Where's the Dr?" (Reply Kitty) Ash looked towards the Sickbay doors. ~Oh no..~ He thought to himself. He then released he had no COMM Badge on him and raced to a node in the wall and tapped it. "Ensign Physioc to Anyone" Ash said desperate trying to recall names of security staff but found it futile as he didn't know anyone from security. (Reply any) "There been another explosion, Dr. Marto was caught in it I believe. Including I think most of sickbay. We need help down here." (Reply whoever) "I'm going to try and get in. Find Dr. Vren" Ash said desperately as he shut the link down angrily. He wondered how the rest of the ship were doing quickly and then ran at the doors verosciously, a thought entertaining in his head that he would just smash through it if he hit it hard enough. Although as he hit the door he knew he was instantly wrong. ~Ouch...~ He thought to himself as he lay on the floor - for what felt the umpteenth time this morning. He stood up trying to figure out how to get inside. He sat back down and crossed his legs and opened up his empathic abilities. He was going to try and find out if the Dr. was still alive. He reached out for her, and found her soul unconscious, finding out that she was alive was good enough for him - He quickly extracted his mind and began on the task in hand. He stood up once more, and began scowering the hallway for something to prize the door open with. As he walked down it he noticed many injured sickbay nurses.. doctors... anyone who managed to get out had some type of injury. Ash looked down at his leg and noticed minor burns, nothing major but along with the rest of injuries he had sustained he thought he might as well just be dead, the amount of help he would be once the adrenaline stopped working on him. He noticed a broken off piece of metal and picked it up. He ran back to the door and smacked it furiously with the metal. It did absolutely nothing to the door, and Ash got frustrated and then wondered why he had even bothered trying that.. He wasn't thinking logically and his brain wasn't working to a great standard... In fact Ash was almost working on primary instinct which was odd for him. It was to try and save fellow beings, Ash usually had a deeper meaning but today he was too tired to even consider one. He Pushed the bar into the crack off the door and tried to leaver it open slightly. It didn't work. Ash looked at the console beside it and shrugged and tapped the open door command button. He smiled as he saw the door open slightly. Not enough though to get through but he had to begin somewhere. He got the metal bar and began pushing. Nothing. ~I AM STRONG ENOUGH~ He told himself and continued pushing, ~I CAN DO IT, I AM STRONG ENOUGH.... MAYBE IM NOT?~ A thought popped into his head and he exhausted more energy trying to push the doors open. Futile. It hadn't moved more than a few centimetres. He looked around, there were plenty people there. ~I couldn't~ He thought. "Erm. Hi. He shouted down the corridor. "We need to get into Sickbay and retrieve the injured.... and the dead." He added as a sad after thought. "I need volunteers to help me wrench this door open." "Why not just wait for security and engineering teams?" Someone shouted out. "BECAUSE" Ash said angrily. "We don't know how many more bomb there are. We could be sitting on one now, and what would you have us do? Run screaming into the dawn? Run and not look back WITHOUT a fight? I say NO, We stay and we help. We don't give up, we rekindle out spirits in the fire of hope - AND we don't give up on ourselves? Now who's with me?" Ash had said more dramatically than he had intended but his emotions had got in the way and took over half way through his speech. He was stood there infront of a load of Nurses and Doctors staring at him wild eyed. One by one they all stepped forward and Ash smiled, "Good" He sighed, "Now lets get to work - We have to get this door open" Several of the more buff looking men stepped forward and with their combined effort they manage the door open enough. Ash then stepped through the threshold into Sickbay and almost immediately that the roof had caved in. He could hear groans of injured people. "LETS Get them out of HERE" Ash shouted to the Medical/other crew. They all rushed in careful not to step on anyone, Ash eyed the debris and people on the floor and found Dr. Vren on the floor near to the door. He walked over to her and checked her pulse. He was no medic but was sure she was alive.. He lent down to her and began trying to move her body out of the debris. He found it more difficult than he thought, the debris was heavier and he was becoming more exhausted. Once he had her out of the debris, he looked down at her and said, "Well I suppose I should get you out of here, Dr. - Its the only humane thing to do, Plus I don't think Mr. Keswick will be too pleased if he knew I just left you here." Ash said, speaking to himself as the Dr. was unconscious. He mustered what little strength he had left and lifted the Bajoran woman over his shoulders and ran out of the door into the hallway and then went about 500 paces and then lied her down and collapsed on the floor next to her. He noticed that nurse Kitty, and shouted "Nurse, I've got Dr. Vren. - She's unconscious" (Reply Kitty, Marto, anyone) (Posted by Jono) ------------------------------------ (USS Mystique - Astromech lab - Ensign Cynthia Darson - 540) "Ensign Darson I believe?" Gralen's calm voice answered Cindy like an island on a stormy sea. "Sir, I'm in Astromech," she reported. "Those of us here are looking over the equipment. Is there anything in particular you need us to do." "Yes ensign, I have something for you to do. Bring your technicians with you and report to the life sciences lab, once here I'll let you know what's going on. I'm waiting for Ensign Taya and the rest of the department to show up." "Yessir. "As I said I'll let everyone know when we're all together, this is one of those things you don't want to have to say a dozen times. See you shortly, Gralen out." It was rather the kind of answer she'd expected, but asking the question needed to be asked. "Aye sir. (Posted by David) --------------------------------- (USS Mystique - Life Science Lab - Ensign Cynthia Darson - 545) The doors opened to a modest crowd of officers milling about or sitting in what chairs were available. Cindy and her technicians just about doubled their numbers as all filtered inside. Commander Gralin stood in one corner speaking to a young man, the back of whose head Cindy didn't recognize. She weaved through the uniforms toward the CSO. He still wasn’t sure what the complete story was yet but he knew that was where he would be needed. He strode through as soon as the door opened and tried to present an aura of calm to those already present as the ship wide comm. system opened up. ”All maintenance engineering and damage control teams are to be assembled immediately. I repeat intruder alert.” John saw the ATAC Ensign Ammon Ranae going about her duties and was about to question her when the door opened behind him admitting LT Dema and others, most of whom were still trying to pull on clothing. Lieutenant, Dema began “I want all decks sealed immediately, we have a saboteur aboard, engineering damage repair teams only are to be allowed to pass security checkpoints. I also want teams dispatched around the ship to search for unexploded ordinance, do NOT assume all explosives have been detonated until the ship has been searched thoroughly” ”Already on it,” Fredericks replied. “Just waiting for a sufficient head count to move them out.” ”Do we know what type of explosive was used or what traces we are looking for yet?” > (Reply Dema) “Good,” He turned to two security men standing near and ask, ”are you the two I called for the shuttle?” When they replied in the affirmative John continued. “I want you in the hanger bay, there is a shuttle ready. Take it and begin scans of the ship for any signs of the explosive device used. Stay in contact with either myself, LT Dema or the bridge.” ”Lieutenant, I would like the Marines sent to the more sensitive areas of the ship and if there are enough to spare I would like one or two of them at the docking tubes. I know the transporters are off line now But I am going to have the rooms sealed and a man posted outside. The saboteur may be waiting for them to be put back online to make an escape. I would also suggest that we have the station use its sensors to scan the ship for explosives as well as any ship coming or going from this area within transporter range as well as look into the last transporter traces from this ship for the last day or so. Probably won’t get anything off that but we might get lucky.” He turned toward Ensign Ammon Ranae where she was passing out Phaser rifles. “I’ll take one of those please, ensign.” (reply any) (Posted by Kirk McClendon) ----------------------------------- (USS Mystique - Security Department - Lt. "All right everyone, security already has their assigned stations and are en route, that leaves us for the more important jobs. Ranae..." He turned to his assistant. "Whoever this guy is he obviously didn't want to destroy the ship immediately or we would all be dead now, every place he detonated an explosive was tactically unnecessary while in dock except for the computer core, he did that so we would have no way to locate and track him or plot his movements. So we have to assume this was a warning and he has others set elsewhere." (Reply: Ranae) "You are in charge of a search team Ensign, I want you to start with the photon torpedo magazine and work your way up to the engineering deck, the marines on board have explosives experts, if you find a suspicious device notify MCO Rich Lee and he can send someone to deactivate it... if there is time. "Not a clue." Jason said with a worried frown. "We have damage control teams en-route and are getting ready to carry out the captains orders. With the computers down there is very little to go on at this time." "Good," Fredericks said and turned to give orders to his men as Jason armed himself and got ready for what was to come. "I want you in the hanger bay, there is a shuttle ready. Take it and begin scans of the ship for any signs of the explosive device used. Stay in contact with either myself, LT Dema or the bridge. ~Smart.~ He thought with a smile as he buckled a phaser to his waist. ~A good idea.~ After a moment Fredericks turned back toward him. "LT. "If he or she didn't want to destroy the ship right away, Sir, then there certainly is every possibility the saboteur is still aboard and should more be found, guaranteed that the perpetrator will be as far away as possible from any of them.... I highly doubt they'd blow themselves up along with the ship." Ranae voiced her thoughts then listened to her orders. "You are in charge of a search team Ensign, I want you to start with the photon torpedo magazine and work your way up to the engineering deck, the marines on board have explosives experts, if you find a suspicious device notify MCO Rich Lee and he can send someone to deactivate it... if there is time. Ranae responded as her eyes roamed over the gathered security personnel, assessing them for who she wanted along. "I'll start at TIC and work my way down, "I'm going to call the department heads and have them set up search parties also. Good luck Ensign." "Thank you, Sir. Same to you." ~May the Prophets be with us.~ The ATAC headed for the exit at a trot, motioning to two others with phaser rifles to follow her, she was content with her hand-held phaser. They fell in behind her in single file. Naraht knew that was far more dangerous to both him and his shipmates. He would not willingly cause them harm or endanger them if he could help it. After informing his teammates of this, they agreed that he should try to go to another area of the ship to help effect repairs. Naraht found a quiet and intact maintenance alcove. “Ensign Naraht to Security Chief John Fredericks.” (Reply Fredericks ) “I am unable to accomplish much with Team 3 in the damaged dorsal sail area as it involves climbing up and down vertical Jeffries tubes and being the horizontal creature that I am, I am physically unable to comply. All starships have their assigned departmental duties in case of such an emergency but he had NO idea what the routine on this ship would be, he had only been assigned yesterday. Knowing they would get around to informing him eventually he waited and kept the com free of chatter from his end while he stewed. What the hell was going on? "Cristee, Narrah, and Alcott," he called to three of his engineers. A Betazoid woman, Bajoran man and Human woman answered the call and stood before him. "I am to organize a bomb search party," he said unable to keep the old slightly satirical vocabulary from his speech. "Narrah," Norm turned to the Bajoran, "I am setting you in charge. I am going to stay behind and try to get the Inertial Dampening Field running to full speed otherwise we might end up walking around as crushed blobs of bloody flesh." The young Bajoran nodded, his golden ear piece contrasting with his closely cropped black hair. "Report to me if anything comes up. I will report to the MCO. Do not try to deactivate anything yourselves. I don't want a bunch of injured engineers. I need every one of you during our transfer to the Hades." All three nodded and he released them to their tasks before he turned back to continue his work. "I am certain that the saboteur wouldn't be in the magazine, but I know you will remain alert to any possibility. We will exit the turbolift swiftly, weapons ready one at a time. I will go first, then you Mr. Senogles." It didn't need saying that En'ada would be last. "Take cover immediately and wait for my signal to go. When I give it, Mr. Senogles go left, I will go right, En'ada will cover us until it's evident that the bomber isn't here then join in the search. Look for anything that doesn't 'feel' right." "Aye Sir." They both replied in unison just as the turbolift doors opened. Ranae was out instantly, body hunched to make a smaller target, phaser leveled and moving from left to right as she quickly and quietly hurried for cover. The other two followed to crouch behind equipment. They waited for a couple of minutes and then the ATAC gave the signal. Moving cautiously, eyes moving quickly to cover all areas for any sign of the intruder, they began to methodically inspect every nook, cranny and piece of equipment that was there. At 0635 Ranae contacted Lt. Dema while the other two finished scanning the area. "Ens. Ammon to Lt. Dema. Checking in and reporting that so far we've found nothing unusual. We're almost finished here..." Just then Senogles gave the all clear. "Correction, we're finished here and its clear, Sir. Moving to the next deck momentarily. Umm, will there be security guarding this area soon?" She thought it might be advisable as it was a highly volatile area. (reply Dema) "Right. "Pardon me James but I have a young woman coming toward me with a determined _expression." He said apologetically. "No problem doctor, we can talk more at length later." The man smiled and turned to see Ensign Darson near his elbow. "Yes Ensign." Holis flashed that smile again, her exhuberance was contagious. "Sir, I left a message in the lab for anyone else who might straggle in to come here," She said breathlessly. "Excellent," Holis said looking around, Taya still hadn't made it yet. He waited for a short while longer before deciding to start the impomptu meeting, wouldn't you know she arrived as if on cue. Satisfied now he waited for her to weave her way through the crowd to him, she appeared a bit edgy. "Sir," she asked as she skidded to a halt. "What's happening?" "I was just about to address that very thing," He said and motioning her to follow him he moved to the center of the lab where everyone edged back to give him room. "All right everyone here is the facts as we know them," he began. As the man parked himself before his desk he looked up. "I heard about the explosions while on the Hades," Commander Garrett said. "Do we know how badly we've been damaged?" "At this time we have sustained damage to the dorsal sail area including the TIC control room and the inertial dampening systems. The only major damage of note is to the computer core which was quite thoroughly taken out of commission. Whoever planted the explosives logically has some ulterior motive in mind and I find it an 87.3 percent probability there are more such devices aboard." "Logical Commander, we have been unable to inform Geneva using ships equipment however Lieutenant Fredericks has taken one of the shuttles out, contact him and have him make the report to Geneva control as well as a request for stepped up security on the Hades." (Reply: Mason) "Search parties have been sent out to search for more ordinance. Do you have any other suggestions to make at this time?" (Reply: Mason) (Posted by Charles) ---------------------------------------- (USS Mystique - Captain's Ready Room - Lt. Commander Mason Garrett - 611) "I heard about the explosions while on the Hades," Commander Garrett said. "Do we know how badly we've been damaged?" "At this time we have sustained damage to the dorsal sail area including the TIC control room and the inertial dampening systems. The only major damage of note is to the computer core which was quite thoroughly taken out of commission. Whoever planted the explosives logically has some ulterior motive in mind and I find it an 87.3 percent probability there are more such devices aboard." "More bombs," The FO mused as Saleke motioned him to a chair. "Captain, it might be wise to assume that the people who engineered this act of terrorism might have targeted more than one ship. We should step up security on the Hades." "Logical Commander, we have been unable to inform Geneva using ships equipment however Lieutenant Fredericks has taken one of the shuttles out, contact him and have him make the report to Geneva control as well as a request for stepped up security on the Hades." "Aye sir," Mason responded. "I assume security has begun the search for more hidden explosives." "Search parties have been sent out to search for more ordinance. Do you have any other suggestions to make at this time?" "Since we apparently have a traitor among us, then we should limit his or her opportunities for committing more damage," Mason said. "I suggest we postpone transferring anymore personnel over to Hades until the perpetrator is found. I realize this may put the people on Mystique at risk if there are more bombs, but if we don't put a clamp on this person's activity then risk increases for everyone on Geneva and the other ships docked here." (Reply: Saleke) "Aye sir," Mason said rising to his feet. "I'll contact Fredericks about increasing security." (REply: Saleke) At the CO's dismissal, Mason turned and moved toward the door. (Posted by David) ----------------------------------------- (USS Mystique - Ready Room - CO, Captain Saleke - 0612) "Since we apparently have a traitor among us, then we should limit his or her opportunities for committing more damage," Mason said. "I suggest we postpone transferring anymore personnel over to Hades until the perpetrator is found. I realize this may put the people on Mystique at risk if there are more bombs, but if we don't put a clamp on this person's activity then risk increases for everyone on Geneva and the other ships docked here." The Vulcan nodded, impressed with the impeccable logic. "Suspend transfers until the perpetrator is caught or until such time as it is proven he is no longer aboard." "Aye sir," Mason said rising to his feet. "I'll contact Fredericks about increasing security." "Do so Commander, you are dismissed." As Mason made for the door Saleke returned to considering the information he had been given about preperations for the stag party which wasn't much, everything necessary was on the padd and needed only to be programmmed into the holodeck. : - ) (Reply: None, any) (Posted by Charles) --------------------------------------- (USS Mystique - Main bridge - Lt. Commander Mason Garrett - 614) As if passing through a portal into another world, Mason felt the palpable silence among other officers on the bridge. The solitary chirp of his com-badge was a welcomed break as he crossed to the center of the room. "Garrett to Security Chief Fredericks." (Reply: Fredericks) "Mr. Fredericks report our status to Geneva control. Presently, we are searching for unexploded ordinance a on the Mystique and investigating who might be responsible for the attack. Also, send a request to increase security on the Hades." (Reply: Fredericks) "We'll give Geneva more information as we learn more. Mystique out." He moved toward the turbo-lift door and spoke to the woman standing next to the tactical console. "I'm headed for Sickbay in case anyone is looking for me," he informed her. ~We know how badly the ship is hurt, now to find out about people.~ Considering the locations damaged, he could hope that few personell were caught in the explosions and he especially hoped a specific few were not among the unfortunate numbers. (REply: anyone on the bridge) (Posted by David) ----------------------------------------- (USS Mystique - Life Sciences Labs - CSO, Lt. Commander Holis Gralen- 0615) “Yes sir, which team and area will I be assigned to?” Holis heard that voice again as he was winding up and remembered the question from earlier. ~Drat! Did I really forget to say what we are searching for?~ Before anyone could leave he added. "By the way we are searching for bombs not people though if you see the saboteur and can subdue him or her feel free. Any explosives you find should be reported instantly to me and we'll get a demolitions expert there to disarm it." ~There that should do it.~ (Reply: Any) Searching for the origin of the voice he found the Horta Naraht waiting patiently for an answer. "Ensign Naraht you will be with me during the search along with biochemist Wilkes," the man had come up beside him and was eyeing Naraht with interest. (Reply: Naraht) Holis turned and watched the others file out, intending to wait till the room had cleared before beginning a search. (Reply: Naraht, any) (Posted by Charles) ---------------------------------------- (USS Mystique -Deck A, Flight OPS - Tactical chief, 2/0, Lt. Jason Dema - 0636) Jason waved the two men forward as he skirted the control console and looked behind it, there was nothing here either, they had made a top-to-bottom search of the Flight OPS quarters after conscripting several of the officers there to lend a hand which they had been willing to do, Jason had made a quick run behind them to insure they did it his way and had uncovered nothing. From there it was to the Flight OPS control center where they were currently. Murphy waved a hand to signal all clear from the other side of the room and Jason let out the breath he had been holding and holstered his phaser, there was nothing here either. He was about to signal for the withdrawal when Ranae reported. =^= Ens. Ammon to Lt. Dema. Checking in and reporting that so far we've found nothing unusual. We're almost finished here...=^= There was a pregnant pause. =^= Correction, we're finished here and its clear, Sir. Moving to the next deck momentarily. Umm, will there be security guarding this area soon?=^= "That's an affirmative Ensign but it won't be security, Rich will be sending a couple of marines along shortly, button the magazine up till they get there." =^= Right. Then I will have Senogles stand guard till they arrive and join us when they do.=^= "Very good, we're through with deck A and are moving to deck B now." He gave the signal for a withdrawal and began walking back to the entry as he was speaking. As he walked he looked at a mental 'picture' in his head of the ships layout and where ensign Ammon was at the moment. "Fredericks has the transporter rooms under guard as well as the shuttlebay so you won't need to enter them but the shuttle preflight hold and shield generators are a different story, be careful." (Reply: Ranae) (Posted by Charles) --------------------------------------- (USS Mystique - Turbolift to Deck 9 - ATAC Ensign Ammon Ranae - 0637) "......Moving to the next deck momentarily. Umm, will there be security guarding this area soon?" =/\=That's an affirmative Ensign but it won't be security, Rich will be sending a couple of marines along shortly, button the magazine up till they get there.-=/\= "Right. We are taking every precaution and then some." (reply Dema) SO Senogles had already stationed himself at the entrance as he'd overheard Ranae talking to Dema. Signaling En'ara to come with her, Ranae gave the Human a clap on the shoulder as they passed him. "Good work Kitchener, we'll see you in a short while. Give three short whistles when you arrive, so we know it's you... Wouldn't want to shoot you by mistake!" He chuckled nervously as she gave him a wink and hurried towards the turbolift with the Bolian, to continue the search. (Reply: Dema) (Posted by Sal) ------------------------------------ (USS Mystique - Main engineering - Engineer Lt. Narrah Kusto- 0638) Kusto rubbed his hand on the back of his neck. He didn't like having to lead the party in persuit of a possibly-no likely- dangerous situation. He whispered a prayer that the Prophets might watch over him as he plowed through the depths of the Mystique's engines. He had split the party up and had requested that he be allowed to assign three more persons to the search party. After Harper had confirmed the 'okay' Kusto had split the group into three two person parts. He now walked toward the life support core. He hoped his deepest fear was but a fear. Surely no one would really cut the Life Support beyond repair! He walked slightly in front of his partner, Ensign Alcott and could feel the muscles in his legs protesting, but long years of training made it easy for him to mask such feelings under a steely _expression. "Do you really think," Alcott trailed off as she watched Narrah pry at the paneling. ~Yes,~ she thought, ~he truly does believe it.~ Narrah kept his hands steady as he pulled the metal out of place. The sound the system should have been generating was dampened and the new sound was unnerving. He was almost sure there was something inside. NRPG: We'll just have to wait to find out what lies within. Mwahahaha! (reply any, none) (posted by Justine) ----------------------------------- (USS Mystique - Deck 16 - CO, Captain Saleke - 0641) Another rumble of the ship signaled another explosion, the Captain was immediately on the com. "Bridge identify the area of the explosion." =^= Unknown captain, without the computer I'm blind and am having to wait for reports. I will report as soon as I know anything.=^= He clicked off the com and sat back in his chair calculating the odds of where the explosion might have occurred but there were too many targets, too many variables. =^= Lt. Keswick to Captain Saleke I have found one of the explosives on deck 16 Environmental Control. =^= That was not obviously the one that had gone off indicating a number of bombs were still on board, just as he had calculated. =^= Captain stand by. =^= Saleke waited patiently for a further report. =^= Captain we have a situation.=^= The Vulcan heard the excitement and dread in Travis' voice which was well covered, the young man was in control of the situation but the situation was not a good one. An old Earth adage came to his mind. ~Got a tiger by the tail and can't let go.~ Had he been there using his eyes and ears it would have been much simpler, as it was he would have to help using Travis' eyes and ears. In the meantime his analytical mind was working in fast forward. "If the device is indeed activated then you have little time Travis, what can you tell me about the appearance of the device?" (Reply: Travis) "The detonator is the key Lieutenant, not the explosive itself. Tell me about the detonator." Using his rank was intended to catch the mans attention and it worked. (Reply: Travis) That was unexpected! When he had time to analyze this later it would become clear that whoever had planted these explosives had a two-fold purpose, to place the blame for the incident on an alien culture and to attempt to cause a schism in the wedding party while forwarding the aims of the H4H in a big way. "A Klingon detonator Lieutenant?" (Reply: Travis) "Did you not train in the Imperial Klingon defense forces with such material?"
