Rich said nothing for a moment as he looked at the PADD with information the Admiral had given him. It was a copy of the orders given to the USS Spectre, including the location and coordinates that they were to be investigating. He sighed as He looked up from the PADD a moment later, "Engage the cloak, bring us out of the river and move us immediately to full impulse." The lights changed on the bridge to a more gloomy setting, as they always did when the ship cloaked. The ship shuddered slightly as the warp fields formed, and immediately collapsed, as was pre-requisite for getting out of the river. Rich folded his hands together as the crew immediately began a full scan of the area. A full minute went by before his Tactical officer reported all clear, but for a single Federation warp signature. He waited, silently, as the Operations officer ran the signature through the database. "It's the Spectre, Sir." she said finally. Lee was nothing if not careful, however, not after the last few months of fun. It was possible to hide and cover a warp signature, he wanted to be sure first. "Put us on course parallel, get us caught up as quickly as possible without giving our position away." he said smoothly. "Yellow Alert, All hands to battle stations." The Lights came on, but the sound stayed off on the bridge. Lee had trained his crew well, the klaxons did nothing but give him a headache and make it harder to think. He had been running deep-cover surveillance for the last year, the last thing he needed was to make mistakes because of frayed nerves. He took a breath, then stood. "First Officer has the bridge, Ill be in the Ready Room. Warn me when we are within five minutes of that ship." "Aye Sir." (USS Nights Watch - Ready Room - Capt Richard Ian Lee - 1307) Rich looked up from his monitor as the Ready Room doors opened. The First Officer paused just inside, not letting the doors close. "Coming up on the ship, and we've got visual verification. She -is- the Spectre." Lee leaned back in his chair, and nodded once. He hadn't seen the old command crew of Utopia in a long time, he wondered who was still with them. Slowly he shook his head, and stood to his full seven-and-a-half foot height. "Continue approach in stealth," he said as walked around the desk. "I take it they aren't hiding themselves?" "No Sir. They aren't making a lot of noise, neither are they acting like they are on a combat mission." "Fits the profile." the Captain replied. He sat in the Command Chair, and folded his hands together. The Spectre was on the Main Viewer, in tactical mode. "Turn on our identity broadcast, and bring us out of Cloak to their Starboard Bow. Immediately begin friendly hails." He brought up a hand, and with a quick chopping motion said, "Now." The lights brightened around him, and people started calling out ships status immediately. Rich folded his hands, "This is Captain Lee of the Night's Watch to the USS Spectre, how goes it Remae?" he said through the hail, with luck before they thought his ship an enemy anyway. There was that to be said about Civil War, paranoia ran rampant. (reply: Spectre, any) (posted by Trout) NRPG: Yup, bringing this guy back. <(-)><<<<<<<<<<<-> }))*(({ <->>>>>>>>>>>><(-)> ~Jeremy Trout (USS Spectre, Holodeck 2, Kahila Lono, 12:30) "This is where I grew up," Kahila told Caro. She pointed east from the beach where they stood. She'd programmed her family's estate into the middle distance, though in reality the long, pale- yellow house could barely have been seen from there. But now even the splash of color from the back flower beds were in sight, beyond the border of tall palms. "I've never seen anything so beautiful," Caro sighed. "And I'd never even been to the coast back home, though a few travelers had. I never went farther than the river." Kahila smiled. "Well, you're a lot farther now." "Will you take me there, Kahila, to Earth, to Hawaii?" "Yes. If possible, Caro. Some day. If I'm stationed back in the SolSystem again, and have leave time." "How could you leave all this, Kahila; even for life on the ship?" Kahila laughed. "Well, as you can see, I haven't really left it; I've brought it with me." Then she grew more serious. "It wasn't an easy decision at the time. But the best way to explain it is that I wanted to belong to the leading-edge of humankind. Starfleet is that leading-edge; it makes the expansion of knowledge possible; allows us to explore, to see and know." Kahila reached out and hugged Caro for a moment. "Right now, the Spectre has entered a new system. And I need to go back on duty." "But we'll do this again, won't we?" "Of course. Everyone has an allocation of holodeck time." Kahila hurried back to her quarters to change clothes, then set Caro's computer terminal to a program of early Starfleet history. (USS Spectre, Bridge, Kahila Lono,13:00) When Kahila arrived on the Bridge, she stood, absorbed in the view. The viewscreen was showing the map of the area as the scan data came in, directly ahead, a few hours away was the system they had been ordered to. The system contained several planets but they were still too far away to get an exact reading on the energy readings they had been sent to investigate. "Hold your course.", Captain Remae said, as the Spectre remained at warp. reply any posted by Josephine Goodman <> (USS Spectre, Bridge, CO, Captain Remae - 13.15) Sensors had collected information about an uncloaking ship; it was Richard Lee, commanding his own starship. The CO ordered the ship to impulse and shortly thereafter, they were being hailed. =^= This is Captain Lee of the Night's Watch to the USS Spectre, how goes it Remae? =^= "Hello there Richard, good to see you. What are you doing in this neck of the woods?", he asked Captain Lee. (Reply from Lee) "Well, if you'd care to follow us, we are a few hours away from the coordinates at warp 6. follow us!", he said with a smile. (Reply from Lee) "Viewscreen off, engage the cloak and resume course and speed.", he ordered and within a moment, the Nights Watch did the same, jumping to warp as they cloaked. (USS Spectre, Bridge, CO, Captain Remae - 15.30) "We're approaching the system, Captain.", reported the CONN Officer and Remae ordered the ship out of warp. "Full scans, please Lt Orde.", Remae asked as the system they had been watching on sensors was now in visual range. Remae flipped open his computer and the sensors scans came in, "I see a Class H planet in this system and the profile of the energy patters we came to investigate match. Take us in to Standard Orbit." Someone piped up from the aft Science Station. "Typical Class H, molten surface, rich hydrogen atmosphere." "Launch a few sensor probes; let's get these energy readings identified." Suddenly, a large flash appeared on the viewscreen, several ships just showed up out of thin air and it looked like they were in the middle of a massive battle, and in the middle of it was the Spectre! "By the Prophets! RED ALERT!", yelled Remae as it was clear they were heading into one of the largest space battles he'd ever seen or heard about. A huge shockwave hit the Spectre as one of the massive alien ships exploded; it was pushing them into a dangerous low orbit of the planet. The shields flared and the ship was shaking its population very hard indeed. ~ Oh no, not again ~ The Spectre entered the upper atmosphere very hard indeed, the ship's nose glowed red and down she went. "What do I have to do to keep this ship in space!!", yelled Remae as the clouds of the planet gave way to the surface. "Bridge to Engineering, I need everything you have routed to the impulse engines, now! Get her nose up or all that the Spectre will leave behind is a large crater in the ground of this planet!", he said as another shake pushed him onto the floor. (Reply from ALL, YES ALL, THIS MEANS YOU!) (Posted by Anthony Keen) (USS Spectre, Bridge, Kahila Lono, 15:30) The Spectre had come out of warp and was dropping into orbit around the Class H planet. Kahila was quickly scanning the details of the science report of the planet that had just come into view. ~Whatever life might have evolved there, it must be very different from our own. But maybe the energy patterns aren't made by life forms at all.~ She'd barely had time to frame the thought in her mind, when: Suddenly, a large flash appeared on the viewscreen, several ships just showed up out of thin air and it looked like they were in the middle of a massive battle, and in the middle of it was the Spectre! Kahila was flung down to the deck, and she rolled backward and aft. "What do I have to do to keep this ship in space!!", yelled Remae as the clouds of the planet gave way to the surface." Kahila grasped the edge of a work station, and felt someone's hand try to hang onto her. Then, as the ship rocked and tipped, she fell back again, as she heard Remae shout, "Bridge to Engineering, I need everything you have routed to the impulse engines, now! Get her nose up or all that the Spectre will leave behind is a large crater in the ground of this planet!", Suddenly, between one gasp of breath and the next, Kahila's surroundings changed. The flashing red alert and the klaxon disappeared, into silence and darkness, though she still felt her body spinning. ~I must have hit my head harder than I thought! Has something happened to my vision?~ Panic stricken, she tried to call out, but the sound she made was unintelligible; it was all she could do to catch her breath, as she fell. And kept falling for longer than she'd expected. She imagined being tossed up from the Bridge, then falling back to the deck. But no, that wasn't right either. When she hit, first on her left side, then rolling over, the floor beneath her had more of a give than it should have. She strained to see through the darkness. But -- nothing was visible. After a moment she could hear sounds, perhaps whispers, perhaps merely the sussurus of machinary. But whatever it was, it didn't remind her all of the Spectre. ~Where am I? What's happened to the Spectre? Was I transported or --~ She didn't want to take the thought any further. She just knew she was not where she should be. And it was suddenly too difficult to even stay awake. reply: anyone who wants to help find Kahila posted by Josephine Goodman (USS Spectre, Bridge, Agent Soval - 15.30) "We're approaching the system, Captain.", reported the CONN Officer and Remae ordered the ship out of warp. Soval observed impassively from the rear of the bridge where he had been seated for the previous few hours, quietly reviewing intelligence reports from throughout the sector while forming patterns and conclusions, which he noted for transmission after their survey of this system was completed. "Full scans, please Lt Orde.", Remae asked Soval consulted the sensor information on the system swiftly determining immediate danger was improbable before analysing a slight inconsistency within a diagnostic scan of the cloak. "I see a Class H planet in this system and the profile of the energy patters we came to investigate match. Take us in to Standard Orbit." He turned to face the science officer who spoke from the station next to Soval,"Typical Class H, molten surface, rich hydrogen atmosphere." "Launch a few sensor probes; let's get these energy readings identified." Suddenly, a large flash appeared on the viewscreen, several ships just showed up out of thin air and it looked like they were in the middle of a massive battle heading towards the Spectres position. Soval disregard the immediate tactical threat certain that the other bridge officers were capable of resolving the matter; instead he focused upon the sensor readings of the event, a single blazing point of green luminescence shone forth; hyperdimensional flares bloomed suddenly from the rupture, their eleven-fold symmetries protesting as they were forcing to conform to the limitations of a four-dimensional universe. Then the sight was gone as the ships entered this universe. ~Fascinating~ "By the Prophets! RED ALERT!" As he glanced up towards the Captain he watched as one of the alien vessels detonated creating a shockwave, which impacted moments later with the Spectre pushing towards the planet. The Spectre entered the upper atmosphere very hard indeed, the ship's nose glowed red and down she went. "What do I have to do to keep this ship in space!!" "Bridge to Engineering, I need everything you have routed to the impulse engines, now! Get her nose up or all that the Spectre will leave behind is a large crater in the ground of this planet!" Soval heard someone point out that the phase cloak could be utilisied, “Captain such a course of action would be inadvisable, the spatial anomaly is flooding this sector with Anyon particles; we will be unable to achieve a transpahsic state and the exertion may be sufficient to further damage the Spectre.” (reply Remae, Orde, any) (posted by John)
