The incoming message from Geneva shook him back to the mission. =^=I need them to research vessels lost shortly after Cochrane discovered the Warp drive. Especially those that would have carried civilians of both male and female varieties. I think we're dealing with the descendants of those people here.=^= Gr'iann looked up at Arianna again and shrugged his shoulders. His ears vibrated and his tail turned up into a question mark. He looked down at Ensign Yalrath. "See what you can come up with Ensign." he told him. (posted by Al Muir) (WaveRider - Cockpit - COUNS/Ahelm - Ensign(Sg) Kassia Marta - 1905) Kass tried not to show how glad she was to be back on the WaveRider and about to be heading to the Nautilus. For some reason she had felt so out of place at the conference, but, Brian was able to pull it out for them and she was glad he had stepped up to show what he could do. Sometimes, in the case of her and Brian, one has to step back to let the other grow and gain confidence. This she felt she did in a sense and then again something was just not right with her there. As soon as she arrived the WaveRider, she went straight for the cockpit and feeling that Paul would want to pilot, she sat down in the co-pilot's seat. She looked around at the rest of the team and saw Paul looking at her and Rogers. She turned back to the controls quickly hopefully he would not see the satisfaction of being back in her eyes. She knew it was strange for her to be acting this way as she is mostly in charge of most things she does. She would have to sit for long hours running the last few hours through her mind to find out what was wrong. "So, when we get back to Geneva, how about a round at the Olde Stone, on me?" Paul said smiling. A Round at the Olde Stone, Paul had asked them. She had never been there, but, she did not want to seem a stick in the mud for not going. She really wanted to fit in with the others of Paul's team. "Sir, I would love to." Was all Kass could say. She then heard Paul ask about Dorrin and she felt bad that she had not thought of him also. She would have to make it up to him later. She would have to make sure that he is ok once they get back. After Paul was satisfied with the answer he received he turned toward her. "Mr. Marta, you don't mind if I pilot again do you? I know I'm hogging all the fun, but I seldom get to do this," stated Paul with a smile. "Sir, it is yours to do as you would, but, no I don't mind once again." Kass replied to him with a smile, "Take us home." (posted by Frank) Go Forth, Shadowy Future, Day 3 2407.01.03 (Starbase Geneva, observation lounge, ACEO Ensign McLaren, 0856) McLaren walked through the double doors into the lounge. A few of the crew were already there and he nodded greetings to them all. After a few minutes LT Casely began speaking. Paul cleared his throat, "First of all, everyone. I'm very proud of all of you. This mission, in my opinion, was a great success. Everyone who is awarded earned something here. Many of you also should be recognized, but you know that ranks are harder to achieve as you move up. Your days will come. First of all, I'm proud to tell Ensign Junior Grade Matthew McLaren, that he is no longer an Ensign Junior Grade, but promoted to Ensign Senior Grade, with all the responsibilities and privileges of that rank." Matthew was taken aback at the sudden promotion. He really hadn't been expecting it, he didn't think he'd done anything extraordinary but he wasn't going to say no to the promotion. He walked up to Casely. "Thank you sir, its an honour." He said grinning as his black pip was replaced with a gold one. He retook his seat and listened as others of the crew were promoted. At one point Ensign Rogers slammed the table with his fist. Matthew looked over at him with a curious expression. ~What the hell is this guy doing?~ He really hadn't had a chance to get to know him well but he seemed a bit unstable. Several of the other crew were promoted then Casely himself was promoted to the first officer's position. Matthew was happy for him, he had come to like the LT over the last few days and thought he deserved it after the previous missions. After the meeting most of the crew were taking time off to relax but Matthew decided he had other things he could be doing so he headed to engineering. (Posted by Matthew McLaren) (Starbase Geneva, Deck Two Observation Lounge, ATAC, Ensign Dorrin Klars, 0910) "Ensign, could I have a word with you for a moment?" asked Paul. Dorrin nodded "certaintly sir" and they moved to a secluded spot. "Mr. Klars, I know you are having some problems settling in. You do a good job, when you put your mind to it. However, your behaviour at times is a concern to me, especially your anger issues. I understand your rage connected to your past, but we aren't prepared to deal with it on duty. In life and death situations, we don't have time and quite frankly, no one here had anything to do with the crimes your brother's captain committed. In fact, we've found that he's working for Admiral Doenitz, on the other side of the conflict. In essence, he's an enemy to us too. I would encourage you to work out your difficulties with a counsellor as well as have your physical ailements worked out with medical." Dorrin nodded again, "I will sir." The fact was Dorrin knew that noone on this ship had anything to do with his brother's death. In fact it was his actions since he got on the ship were illogical now that he took a good look at them, maybe he did need counselling. "I believe in giving you another chance Ensign. I believe in giving pretty much everyone a second chance, or even a third. I realise that might class me as a boyscout in your opinion, however given the choice between being a boyscout and being what Doenitz and his people represent, I'll choose boyscout. If there isn't a marked improvement, I've started investigating transferring you to station Operations in which case you'll work for Lieutenant Yalrath and be mostly exempt from Away Missions. It isn't what I want to do, but I have to keep the well being of my entire crew in mind and your anger issues affects your work and therefore could cost lives. I hope you take advantage of this chance and can stay in tactical/security," said Paul genuinely. "I hope I can stay as well" answered Dorrin. He really did not want to be transfered, if he was he might resign, and that would not be good. Paul nodded, "Enjoy the rest of the party and this day off. Think about what I've said. I'm not trying to be nasty or harsh. I'm just being honest, telling you what's what. Its another part of my job. If you need to talk to me about anything, just ask." "I will sir and thank you." With that Dorrin left Casely and headed toward Marta. He might have been acting strangly but it was time to correct that. But there was no way he was going to publicise he needed counselling that would be just embarassing. Upon reaching the counselor he said "Excuse me counselor, I was wondering if I could speak with you privatly for a minute." Desperatly he tried to convey the matter was serious. (Posted by Dan Black) (Starbase Geneva, Deck Two Observation Lounge, COUNS, Lieutenant(JG) Kassia Marta, 0914) Kass arrived the Observation Lounge and as she found her seat, she nodded her greetings to everyone that had before her. She had known that this was a part of the ritual after a successful mission, the grouping to brief on what went good and bad. It would also be a time of promotions, possibly, and commendations. She knew that she would not be getting anything as she mostly failed at her duty or at least was not as effective as she should had been. But, she wanted to be there for her part of the debrief and to see the others that performed correctly get the promotions and awards that they had coming. The meeting had finally started and Paul got the chance to do the honors of promoting some of his crew. "First of all, everyone. I'm very proud of all of you. This mission, in my opinion, was a great success. Everyone who is awarded earned something here. Many of you also should be recognized, but you know that ranks are harder to achieve as you move up. Your days will come. First of all, I'm proud to tell Ensign Junior Grade Matthew McLaren, that he is no longer an Ensign Junior Grade, but promoted to Ensign Senior Grade, with all the responsibilities and privileges of that rank." Kass smiled as she was happy that McLaren had gotten promoted and silently appauded Paul for doing that. But, what came next totally blew her away, "Ensign Kassia Marta who worked hard on my negotiation team and who piloted every craft possible for these missions, I promote to Lieutenant {JG} with all the rights and privileges of that rank." It took a few moments for it to register that she had to get up and walk up to him. She was in a somewhat stupor as Paul watched her walk to him. He then put a black pip beside her solid gold one. As stunned as she was, she could not really think of what to say, it really was out of the ordinary for her to be promoted as she had done nothing that warranted it. She almost decided to decline it but thought better of it. "Thanks Sir." Was all she could come up with just before she returned to her seat. She vaguely heard Dorrin then Doctor Engtamn-Jensi, Yalrath, PO Miller which she though started crying but she was not sure. She finally became more aware when Paul started his presentation to Brian. "Finally, I have a presentation to make to Ensign Junior Grade Brian Rogers. I am happy to make him an Ensign Senior Grade, but I am also happy to present him with the Captain's special commendation for his work in solving the language problem with the planet. Through his efforts we were able to broker peace and help descendants of Earth. Well done Ensign," stated Paul shaking Brian's hand and then attaching the rank and the medal to his uniform. Kass was happy that he had been rewarded for the job he had done on the planet and the final work he had done on the translations. She had intentionally palmed it off on him to see what he could do and to let him do something out from under her. He seemed to not like the idea that there were two counselors and he was the junior of them with all the notoriety of his family. Overall she thought things went rather well, except that she got promoted. (posted by Frank) (Starbase Geneva, Deck Two Observation Lounge, COUNS, Lt.(Jg) Kassia Marta, 0918) Paul had finally dismissed everyone for the end of mission party and the fact that he gave them the rest of the day off. She looked forward to getting some time to herself to think about things. As she was about to head for the door, she noticed that Dorrin and Paul had finished up a discussion. Dorrin then turned in her direction with the look in his eyes that he wanted to say something serious to her, that made her stop. "Excuse me counselor, I was wondering if I could speak with you privately for a minute." Dorrin asked her and she could easily see that it was important to him. She looked at him for a moment before answering, "I would love to, lets go to one of my counseling rooms so we can have privacy." She told him then turned to head out with him in tow. (Posted by Frank) (Starbase Geneva, Counselor's Office, Counseling Room 1, COUNS, Lt.(Jg) Kassia Marta, 0926) As they entered the room, Kass turned on the counseling in session light, Which told everyone not to disturb. She then motioned for him to sit down on the couch and she sat in the chair close by. "I know that this might not be exactly what you were speaking of, but, you did say private and this is the only place I could really think of." Kass informed him, "So, tell me what is on your mind." (posted by Frank) (Starbase Geneva, Deck Two Observation Lounge, ATAC ensign Dorrin Klars, 0928) "I know that this might not be exactly what you were speaking of, but, you did say private and this is the only place I could really think of." Kass informed him, "So, tell me what is on your mind." "Here is the thing," Dorrin began hesitantly, "The room is actually very appropriate because I need to sign up for counseling sessions. For two things actually, one is that I am having some anger managment problems to due some events in my past, and the other, well it will take a bit of a long story to tell so when do you think the sessions could begin? (Posted by Dan Black) (Starbase Geneva, Counseling room 1, COUNS, Lieutenant(Jg) Kassia Marta, 0929) "Here is the thing," Dorrin began hesitantly, "The room is actually very appropriate because I need to sign up for counseling sessions. For two things actually, one is that I am having some anger management problems due to some events in my past, and the other, well it will take a bit of a long story to tell so when do you think the sessions could begin?" Kass could see that Dorrin was deeply concerned about what was happening to him and wanted help desperately. She could only guess what it was that was so long he could not tell it at that moment, but, it did not really matter. She turned on the console in the room and looked over her schedule. At that moment she had time that afternoon around 1400, which, she turned to him to see if that would be a good time. "Well Ensign, I have time around 1400 to day, would that be good for you to get started at least? Then we can try to schedule around the time frames that best suit you." She asked and waited for him to answer her. (Posted by Frank) (Starbase Geneva, Observation Lounge, Admiral Gr'iann, 0930) "Enjoy the rest of the party and this day off. Think about what I've said. Paul blinked for a second, he'd been given the full responsibilities and very quickly too. He smiled broadly at Gr'iann, "Thank you Sir. I'll consider my time working in Security as being a transition period. Going fully into command from Tactical and Security would be too big of a change all at once anyway." Paul knew it was going to be a big job, but he first became use to wearing many hats on the Nimitz, and he'd had to don even more on Geneva. In some ways, this would be no more difficult. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Counseling room 1, ATAC ensign Dorrin Klars, 1400) Dorrin walked in a bit worried. He had never attended counselling before and wondered what was in store for him. He saw Marta, "Ah counselor, is now a good time to start?" (posted by Dan Black) Mission: Illuminati, Day 1 Stardate: 2407.01.04 (Starbase Geneva, Personal Quarters, COUNS, Ensign (SG) Brian Rogers , 0541) Brian had just finished his daily workout at 05.00 in the station's gym. He arrived at his quarters. After a quick sonic shower he changed into his uniform. He stopped, turned and touched his new medal sitting on his shelf, just to make sure he really had gotten it, and it wasn't just a dream, then walked out. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (Starbase Geneva, Corridor, COUNS, Ensign (SG) Brian Rogers, 0559) Brian walked out of his quarters and headed towards the nearest turbolift. He tapped his comm badge and started speaking. "Rogers to Dr. Mackenzie." (reply Mackenzie) "I'm fine, Kaitlyn. What would be the best time for me to come into sickbay for my... treatment," Brian asked. (reply Mackenzie) "Very good. I'll see you then. Rogers out," Brian said has the channel closed. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (Starbase Geneva-Personal Quarters-ACMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-0600) Kaitlyn was having the best time sleeping. Since they had gotten back from their previous away mission, she was far from wanting to stay up longer than she had to. She needed sleep and she thought she had earned it. She was even more happy that her duty shift didn't start until 0800. Kaitlyn had told one of the other officers that she'd work over for them because they wanted a little bit of the night off, and she wanted sleep, so it worked out for the better. =^=Rogers to Dr. Mackenzie.=^= She didn't reply for a minute as she was being disturbed by the comm call. As she turned to look at the chronometer, she moaned in annoyance, but mostly to herself so that Rogers didn't hear her. "Mackenzie here, are you okay?" she said groggily. =^=I'm fine Kaitlyn. What would be the best time for me to come into sickbay for my.....treatment," Brian asked. "Hmm....anytime between 0900 and 1100. As long as you get the medication into your system by then you should be fine," she said, then yawned. Rolling back over, she covered herself up except for her leg that stuck out. =^=Very good. I'll see you then. Rogers out,=^= Brian said as the channel closed. Kaitlyn's eyes never opened during the conversation other than to check the time. She quickly drifted back to sleep for the hour she had left before she had to get up. (Posted by Stacey) (Starbase Geneva, Little Cardassia, FO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant (SG) Paul Casely, - 0931) Paul was sitting having breakfast in the only shop that opened early enough to provide it on the promenade. At some point he would have to talk to that Ronsworth fellow about his coffee. In an attempt to create 'real Earth coffee' he had produced something that classed between mud and melted brown crayon. The effect was a definite caffeine boost that tasted rather... crappy. The bacon and eggs were good enough though, Paul just decided he should resist asking where Ronsworth found real chicken eggs and bacon, the answer may not please him. This was bound to be a busy day. The Cardassian Depta Council member was arriving, full dress uniforms... again. Paul sighed unconsciously and looked at the newswire vid screen in the restaurant. He looked, and did a double take. Fleets seemed to be on the move and again and again Admiral Doenitz was being flashed on the screen. Paul blinked for a minute and then raised his voice, "HEY, turn that up someone! I need to hear that, now!" Someone obliged and Little Cardassia was awash in recorded sound. "Former Admiral Doenitz has pronounced himself the new President of the Federation during his imposition of Martial Law on Earth, several member worlds led by Tellar have risen up in protest. Almost immediately, select forces of Starfleet targeted the planet of Tellar. An official statement from the Office of the President announced that Tellar had been overrun by agents from rouge Admiral LoDona, and must be weeded out. Even now an occupation army has landed and Tellar has been placed under military law. The new president also announced that Martial Law was being declared Federation-wide to deal with the new Klingon threat, due to the Klingons allying themselves with Admiral LoDona somewhere on the fringes of explored space. In response, several notable worlds of the Federation have pulled support from the Federation council and have mobilized their defense forces. There is even high-level rumors flying around that Admiral LoDona's support might be sought. There are many unconfirmed rumors from sensitive informants in Starfleet that he sent multiple messages to Captains and Fleet Commanders before his so-called Rebellion began that warned of danger from Admiral Doenitz. Vulcan, Andoria, Betazed and numerous other member-worlds have joined in this defacto resistance, propelled by the Violence on Tellar. It has been reported that several pacification fleets are already enroute to those worlds. We do know for certain that the Defense Forces of these worlds are active, and at least one... the Andorian Defense Force, has orders to defend to the last against all forces loyal to new President Doenitz and his regime. I won't be able to stay on the air much longer, the FNS received word that none of what is happening here is to go on the air. I will have to move soon lest I be found. I wanted everyone to know what was going on, there are so many things we haven’t been allowed to tell you because of Security Concerns. Troop movements, dissenters being quietly relocated and silenced. MY conscience could no longer let me stand by in silence while these atrocities are being committed. As you can see, Tellar is on fire. The Tellarite self-defense force has been completely obliterated. It is safe to say that the planet of Tellar is completely under military control." The reporter put his hand to his ear, "I have been told that a couple Andorian ships appeared in the skies twenty minutes ago and were utterly destroyed by forces loyal to President Doenitz. And..." Paul watched as the planet of Tellar was literally burning. He had been concerned with the death he had caused as tactical officer on the Nimitz, now he understood what he was fighting for in an instant. "These people... they are not like us," Paul mumbled absently. On the far edge of the screen, three Void-Sphinxes had lined up and were breaking at high-speed directly at the camera. The Reporter and Camera-man, completely unaware, continued filming, until the Sphinxes fired. Whatever was the case before... now they were truly at civil war. Geneva in a flash had become a high stakes target. Paul would have to enact defense protocols immediately. The Starbase, a beacon of what Starfleet and the United Federation of Planets once were would now become a fortress. All Starfleet personnel would be armed. They would be constantly at an alert readiness stage. Paul tapped his comm badge, "Casely to all senior personnel, meeting in Briefing Room One... immediately. This is a code red alert and not a drill. Full station alert protocols are now in effect, all Starfleet personnel are to wear their sidearms even when off duty until further notice. Repeat this is not a drill. Senior personnel to Briefing Room One for emergency meeting." (Reply any/all) Paul left his unfinished breakfast. "Bill me for this, you know where to find me!" Paul raced out of the cafe and to the turbolift to his office. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva-Medical Center-ACMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-0932) She had yet to see Rogers for his visit, but she assumed that he would be by sooner rather than later to get it over with. It had been awhile, as she realized that she hadn't seen the Admiral since the away mission. She wondered how he had coped with his....dilemma, or if he was still on the prowl after her. ~I'll have to figure that out somehow....~ she thought as she was inturrupted. =^=Casely to all senior personnel, meeting in Briefing Room One... immediately. She figured that she was probably the most available at the time since early morning rounds in the medical center had already been taken care of. She awaited the arrival of the rest of the crew members as she half listened to Rogers talking to Casely about what was going on. She didn't want to seem like she was eavesdropping, though this was a meeting. She couldn't wait to find out what this could be about. Paul quickly transferred the transmission directly to Briefing Room One. He touched a few more keys and brought station's heightened security online. All ships would have to submit to search and scan before docking. You never knew what you'd have to deal with. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 63, Main Armory, COUNS, Ensign (SG) Brian Rogers, 0943) Brian arrived and saw a small group of his crewmates here, picking up their phasers too. Brian spotted Jason Miller here. "Mr. Miller, did you hear anything about what this is about?" Before he could respond, a female science officer interrupted. "My cousin serves on the USS Hood. She says its Civil War!" "Civil War? What are you talking about? Which planet is fighting? Qo'noS? Andoria?" Brian asked. Now more than a few of the other crewmen were listening to the conversation. "Its Earth! Some crazy Admiral has taken over the Federation and is during Starfleet against our allies!" "Thats wrong, you've got your stories all wrong!" Brian said with a firm tone. This crewmember was trying to spread panic threw the station. She had to be wrong. "Nah! She's right! We're all fighting against the Federation! We should surrender!" another crewman piped up. That caused a spark. Everybody in the crowd started shouting, and yelling things. "Listen! EVERYBODY STAY CALM AND GO TO YOUR DUTY STATIONS! I'm sure that Arianna and Casely will make an annoucement to the crew shortly, just go to your stations and don't tell any stories yet. Has far has we know, we haven't committed treason." The mob seemed to calm down and slowly file out. Brian grabbed a waist hoster for his phaser, then left for his meeting (Posted by Kevin Schram) (Starbase Geneva, Briefing Room One, FO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant (SG) Paul Casely, 0945) Paul ran into the briefing room and quickly set up. He made sure that the main screen viewer was ready to show the news programme. He hoped that the crew trusted him enough after the last mission to not think he'd lost his mind by declaring the alert status. There was an off-chance that some of them might have seen or heard rumours about this transmission. Now it was time to dispel the myth and enter reality. They were at war. They had to behave as if they were at war, especially considering the importance of Geneva to all the ships of 'their Federation'. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Briefing Room One, COUNS, Ensign (SG) Brian Rogers, 0946) Brian entered and saw Casely standing here. Brian walked over and started speaking. "Sir, whats going on. The crew seems tense, and I was informed in the Armory that there has been some sort of Coup d'état in the Federation!" (Posted by Kevin Schram) (Starbase Geneva, Briefing Room One, FO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant (SG) Paul Casely, 0948) Paul turned and regarded the Ensign. He nodded slowly. "They would be correct Ensign. I'm not really surprised. Doenitz has been really in control of the Federation for awhile now. Its one of the reasons we're out here. Its one of the reasons that the ships that I attacked and destroyed in my first battle were both Federation vessels. Doenitz has been slowly limiting freedoms for a long time in the name of security. People, afraid of external and internal threats, were willing and even happy to hand over their freedoms to Doenitz so these mostly fictional security risks could be combatted. A large group of us, a fleet of several ships and this starbase, have been working against Doenitz for a long time." (reply Rogers) "We've had some minor battles, little skirmishes. They've called us a rogue element, said we were small in numbers, but in reality its a sizeable contingent now. Now, however, that Doenitz decided to take over everything and use force, it seems our little private battle has blown up into full scale war. Geneva is at the epicentre. We're needed for refueling and repair of ships loyal to the ideal of freedom. Its one of the reasons it took you so long to get here. Only those captains with declared neutrality or on 'our side' know where we are. To find my first duty vessel I had to jump about 3 ships. Now, Doenitz will redouble his efforts to find us. We've become stage one in a war and with that comes all the things a war brings," replied Paul sadly. (Reply Rogers) "Mr. Rogers, when I was first enlisted I wasn't entirely aware of what was going on. It didn't take me long to be convinced which side was the right side. I trusted my CO, what he stood for and who he was and that helped point me the way. You need to be committed, now more than ever, to preserving what the Federation stands for. I know this isn't what you signed on for, if you decide that you can't do this, I'll understand. We'll put you on a neutral ship and you can hopefully stay out of it. The choice has to be yours. I won't think less of you no matter what you decide," said Paul sympathetically. He had been there, he had gone through this. He knew what Brian was feeling. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Briefing Room One, COUNS, Lieutenant (JG) Kassia Marta, 0950) Kass entered to hear Paul start to answer what she had guessed was a question from Brian who was standing close by. Its one of the reasons we're out here. Its one of the reasons that the ships that I attacked and destroyed in my first battle......." Kass was troubled over what she just heard between Paul and Brian, one because she had not wanted to get into any battles, but, knew she was on the right side, then second, She was not sure what Brian would do as he had a lot of family on ships that probably were still on the other side. He would need time to try and contact them to see where they were. She would have to make sure he knew that she would be there for him if he needed it. He had sat down but he did not seem to have it all there. For the moment, she would just sit and wait for the meeting to start in which Paul would give them all the information. She would have to talk to him she knew because she was not wearing her weapon. He was supposed to order to Chief Rourke at 10.00, so he could take his time, walking slow and pondering things. He passed two crewmembers, one was furious. Jason walked slowly so he could hear what that angry one was saying. "This is worthless! They don't understand, its un-Federation to break away like this! Everybody on this station should be shot!" he yelled. The other one shook his head. "You work at this station, Lamar." "No, no, you don't understand! We should leave! They've got it all wrong! They say that Doenitz is bad, that he restricts rights, he only does it to people of mixed decent. Ya know, like half humans half something else, right?" "Are you sure? Thats not what I heard..." "Dave, listen! We're both human! We should be fine. Plus, Doenitz is keeping us safe from alien spies? You know how sneaky those Romulans are. They could spying. When Doenitz has them locked up, you'll be thankful." "So he locks up every signal person? Thats not security, Lamar, thats against our rights." "Dave, you remember Earth History at the Academy? During World War Two? Its like we're the German citizens. Why do we care if the Jews are getting thrown out? Doesn't bother us!" "Lamar, you are way off. You've got your facts all wrong. Jason asked. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (Starbase Geneva, Briefing Room One, FO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant (SG) Paul Casely, 1000) Paul looked around the room. The faces he saw wore looks of concern and worry primarily. He noticed that Lieutenant Marta and Doctor Engtamn-Jensi had failed to wear their sidearms. He wasn't that surprised, or concerned. He knew that Engtamn-Jensi was a pacifist and it seemed fairly consistent with Marta not to really like violence. She'd have to make up her own mind. "People, thanks for coming in on such short notice. I'm not sure if many of you heard or saw the information transmissions this morning. For that reason I'll replay it for you," stated Paul calmly. Paul showed the recording off the vid, the scenes of Tellar literally on fire, the words of the declared fighting on the parts of the Vulcans, Betazoids, Andorians, Tellarites and a dozen other races against Doenitz. The scene of a young cameraman, refusing to take for granted the word of a madman being gunned down like a dog by Doenitz's forces. (Reply any - Reactions to what you see and hear?) The vid then stopped. Paul looked at the group. "We are at war. The quiet movement against Doenitz that took place mostly behind the scenes has moved to the forefront. Sounds like they've become a lot more important." "Understood. By the way, sir, do you understand what is going on here? You know, with the civil war and stuff?" Jason asked. Alan blinked his eyes, "Miller? Don't call me 'sir', I just told you that! Now, this is a storm that's been brewing for a long time. The guy we're up against, Doenitz, he's nuts, a real Hitler. The Romulans haven't declared a side, and even if they did I wouldn't trust them to keep to their word. Romulans have a rather inglorious history in that regard. They'll try to play both sides against each other as best they can. We'll have to be most vigilant after we've won the war. As for the Klingons, by all reports, they back us. Klingon honour being what it is, I can't see them attempting to profit overtly from what's going on," replied Paul calmly. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 1, Main Ops, EC, Petty Officer {2nd} Jason Miller, 1012) Jason walked in with the engineering kit and looked down at his PADD and went to a station where Zadora Yalrath was working. "Excu... excuse me, Lieutenant, but I need to bring this console offline so I can check the data relay inside it... but if your real busy, I can start with... some other... ones..." Jason said, staggering all over his words. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 1, Main Ops, OPS, Lieutenant {JG} Zadora Yalrath, 1013) Zadora was focussed on the various duties associated with her position. She had thought that Casely would be in Ops more often now that he'd been promoted fully to First Officer, but as his duties were still split with security, and as the war had begun in earnest he was busier than ever. Zadora knew that the Captain was dealing with the fallout of the war with 'higher ups'. Thinking about that made Zadora hope that she never became a captain or a First Officer. It just seemed like too many meetings and too much paperwork. "Excu... excuse me, Lieutenant, but I need to bring this console offline so I can check the data relay inside it... but if your real busy, I can start with... some other... ones..." a young petty officer broke her out of her concentration. Zadora regarded that young man for a moment. "You know, if you've been ordered to work on this console, that's all you have to say. We have enough back up systems that it doesn't really affect us. Its good to be polite, and we always appreciate it, but don't be afraid to tell us that you've been told to work on the console. If its a real problem, one of us will certainly tell you so," said Zadora flashing a smile to show that she wasn't angry, upset or annoyed with the young man. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Briefing Room One, FO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant (SG) Paul Casely, 1014) Paul continued to answer questions and try to alleviate concerns. He noticed very quickly that the bulk of the staff just wanted to do their best in what would be a difficult time. McLaren reminded him that he was also proficient in security. "I appreciate that Ensign McLaren. At the moment, Engineering is as important. No working engineering, no working shields or armaments. There is a chance that a boarding party could attack Engineering first. Feel better knowing that someone with your training is down there, just in case," replied Paul honestly. (Reply McLaren) "If you are needed due to a mass boarding, we'll call on you. We'll call on just about everyone to hold the line," Paul said shaking his head slowly. He was not happy about this event. It interfered with many possibilities for the future, but war never was convenient. Rogers was next to speak, "So, sir, the mission with the Cardassians is to make them get in alliance with us? Or just keep them neutral. It seems from history the Cardassians would be more likey to support Doentiz, since he is a... warmonger." "Mr. Rogers, the Cardassians are most likely not to support either side. However, when in history does it make sense to ally yourself with a warlike power that is as powerful as you are? Look at the great villanous powers of the past. They've always allied with weaker powers, that way there was no threat to them afterwards. While we are as strong technologically as the Cardassians, we don't have the desire to expand through conflict. Doenitz might. If I were the Cardassians I might hedge my bet and go with us, or stay out of the whole mess. Either scenario is good for us," replied Paul. History had borne that out. There was a reason that Hitler had chosen to ally with Mussolini. In the face of trouble, a rebellious Italy had not been able to stand up to the German onslaught. This was a historical truism that seemed to happen again and again. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Briefing Room One, COUNS, Ensign (SG) Brian Rogers, 1018) Brian listened has Casely spoke to him about the Cardassians. When he was finished, "Yes, sir. I understand. It just seems that the Cardassians with their 'personality' for war and Doenitz would get along well. (Reply Casely) When he was done, Brian just listened. All his questions had been answered. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 74, Docking and Processing, ATAC/ASC Ensign JG Samantha Chandler - 1100) Even though she was being transferred to Geneva, it still took nearly an hour to finally get through the security to be allowed onto the station. She almost laughed at it all, considering that she would probably be helping with this in a few hours. She nodded to Ivanovicha and Armstrong as she turned to walk to the nearest turbolift to report in to the FO. (Posted by Esther) (Starbase Geneva-Medical Center-ACMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-1102) After the briefing, Kaitlyn had returned back to her area in sickbay. She wondered whether or not Rogers was ever going to report for his ennoculation. Just as she thought about that, Ensign Rogers came strolling through the main doors. "Hello, Doctor," he said with a smile. "Hello." Knowing what he was here for, she instructed him to have a seat in her office. As he did so, she went and got a hypospray from the instrument tray, and loaded it with cordazine. She then went back to her office where Rogers was. "Well Doctor, my doses are getting so low I think I we should be done soon," Brian said. Nodding her head in agreement, she said, "You're right, we're almost done. You ready?" "Yes, of course. I'm ready," Brian said. Pressing the hypospray to the side of his neck, she injected him. The dose on the medication was lower and lower each time, and she estimated by the end of the week, he should be off the cordazine. Sitting down opposite from Rogers, she decided she'd document the time he had come in to receive his treatment. ~If I don't do it now, I'll forget.~ "Well, Kaitlyn, since we are at war, what do you say we meet and discuss our emergency tactics for the Medical Divison? I'm thinking over dinner at 1900?" Brian asked with a sly smile on his face. Kaitlyn looked down at her lap for a moment, then brought her head back up with a smile across her face. "Since....we're at war, discussing emergency tactics would be....an efficient use of our time." She paused, watching Brian's smile grow wider. "1900 it is then." She watched as he left the medical center, then felt guilty. ~I shouldn't be doing this, not right now.~ Because of his current problem, it was usually prohibited from becoming involved. ~It's just dinner and conversation.....that never killed anyone.~ For the moment, she had herself convinced that it was just that. Dinner and conversation. Kaitlyn decided she would not let herself become involved yet because of the current situation, however. As her mind debated with itself, she finished the writing in Rogers' medical file. (Posted by Stacey) (Starbase Geneva, First Officer's Office, FO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant (SG) Paul Casely, 1110) Paul looked around his spartan office and sighed heavily. He knew that Captain Arianna had a lot to deal with at the moment. She probably was with Ladona right now getting information on exactly what was happening. Paul looked around at the bare walls of his new office. He's have to transfer some of his belongings up later. Right now the new security protocols were taking most of his attention. Soon he'd have to go up to Ops for his shift there. Deep in thought, Paul barely heard his door chime go off. "Enter!" called out Paul. The door slid open and young woman walked in wearing a service uniform. ~Oh yes, the new security officer we've been waiting for.~ "Ensign JG Samantha Chandler reporting for duty, sir," Sam said standing at attention. Paul stood up outstretching his hand, "At ease Ensign. Welcome to Starbase Geneva. I wish you could have come at a slightly... less militant time." (Reply Chandler) "So, Ensign, how much do you know about what's going on? Not much I'm imagining," asked Paul scrutinizing the Ensign. (Reply Chandler) Paul nodded, "Hold on a second," with that he turned and cued up his viewscreen and showed the vid from the morning. Paul couldn't help but resist shuddering as the reporter and his transmission were ended simultaneously. "This is what we're up against. I know you came from a neutral declared ship. I need to know, are you willing to fight alongside us against Doenitz?" (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 2, Corridor leading to the FO's office, ATAC/ASC Ensign JG Samantha Chandler - 1115) Sam stepped off the turbolift on Deck 2. With all the security on the station, it had taken her some time to finally get to Deck 2. She walked down the corridor to the door that led to the FO's office. She stopped at the door and pushed the chime. When the door opened, she walked in. "Ensign JG Samantha Chandler reporting for duty, sir," Sam said standing at attention. (Posted by Esther) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 2, FO's Office, ATAC/ASC Ensign JG Samantha Chandler - 1117) "At ease Ensign. Welcome to Starbase Geneva. "So, Ensign, how much do you know about what's going on? Not much I'm imagining," he asked. "Only what we were told on the Raven," Sam answered. "Hold on a second," the FO said turning on the viewscreen. Sam watched the vid. She was horrified at what she saw. She grimaced as the reporter and the transmission were cut short. "This is what we're up against. I know you came from a neutral declared ship. I need to know, are you willing to fight alongside us against Doenitz?" Casely explained. Sam turned her head away from the viewscreen and looked at the FO. She was sure that the horror was still etched on her face from seeing the vid. She couldn't believe something like this could happen to the Federation. After a few minutes, Sam finally found her voice, "Sir, I come from a long line of Starfleet officers. Anyone who would do that to the Federation, is no friend of mine. I may have come have come from a neutral ship, but I, however, am not. I want to help fight Doenitz and everything he stands for," she told him. (Posted By Esther) (Starbase Geneva, First Officer's Office, FO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant (SG) Paul Casely, 1119) Paul could see the shock... the horror on the face of Chandler. He almost could anticipate what was going on in her mind. A few minutes later, the ensign finally spoke, "Sir, I come from a long line of Starfleet officers. Anyone who would do that to the Federation, is no friend of mine. I may have come have come from a neutral ship, but I, however, am not. I want to help fight Doenitz and everything he stands for." Paul nodded at the young woman. "I understand what you're saying and agree completely. Now, our current mission... we have Cardassian dignitaries arriving soon. We need to at least keep them neutral in the current conflict, so this is an important meeting. When they arrive, we'll be meeting them in full dress uniform, as per protocol. It still could be several hours before they arrive." (Reply Chandler) "I also think you should see Security. We do, at times, leave the station on one of two station vessels but most of our work is done in security or in station operations. Station operations is just one deck up. Incidentally, in addition to being First Officer, I am the Tactical and Security Chief, so I guess that makes me your boss twice over. There is no one with the rank or experience on board yet to take the TAC/SC job, so I hold onto it until there is. Hopefully that will be soon," said Paul smiling. He had hopes that either Klars or Chandler would eventually take the TAC/SC position. It would depend on ability and attitude. (Reply Chandler) "In the meantime, you'll share the Assistant Tactical and Assistant Security office with Ensign Senior Grade Dorrin Klars. I'm currently maintaining my office in Security. Why don't you head down there and meet with Ensign Klars? If there are problems, contact me. Remember, I'm still in charge of Security," said Paul with a grin. She hadn't spoken to him since she got back from the away mission, so she thought she'd chance it. Walking over to his office, she tapped on the outside of the frame to let him know someone was standing there. As he turned around, she asked, "May I?" <> Sitting down, she said, "I was just wondering.....are you ok?" After what had gone on with the previous attempts after her, she was still concerned for his health and safety. <> "Well I...." Her response was cut short. "Doctor Mackenzie, could you please come to my office? There are some things about Mr. Rogers that I need to discuss with you," said Paul. Sighing, she said, "Duty calls, I guess." Getting up from the chair, she looked back and said, "Mind if we finish talking later?" < She didn't want to avoid him totally. She still regarded him as a friend and wanted to make sure their friendship was still ok. (Posted by Stacey) (Starbase Geneva, First Officer's Office, FO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant (SG) Paul Casely, 1205) Paul looked at the heavy load of paperwork, in the form of several PADDs in front of him. He sighed. There was always a lot to do on the station, and there was a definite lack of command level people besides himself and the captain to help. Gr'iann had done his best to pitch in, but he had his own pressing duties. Paul finally tapped his comm badge. "Doctor Mackenzie, could you please come to my office? There are some things about Mr. Rogers that I need to discuss with you," said Paul. (Reply Mackenzie) Paul waited for awhile and eventually he heard the chime go off to his door. After giving the person on the other side permission to enter, Doctor Mackenzie entered. "Doctor Mackenzie... may I call you Kaitlyn? There are some things I need to discuss about Ensign Rogers. You know him well, being his primary physician at the moment. We both understand the current issues regarding him," stated Paul calmly. He hoped she would call him Paul. At their level, both were senior officers on Geneva. It was really time to dispense with the formalities, at least when they were in private. (reply Mackenzie) "I'm considering him for the position of Third Officer. He distinguished himself on our last mission and he's been going out of his way to help me when he has time. He also has been proceeding extremely well in his command level training. I can really only make him Acting 3O at the moment, but after talking to Captain Arianna, it is doubtless if he does well during the interim period, he'll get the full job," Paul grinned slightly at Mackenzie. (Reply Mackenzie) "Anyway, my question is, do you believe that the job of A3O would help Mr. Rogers in his current treatments, or hinder him? "Anyway, my question is, do you believe that the job of A3O would help Mr. Rogers in his current treatments, or hinder him? I personally feel that the increase in responsibility will give him hope and reason to continue his treatments, but you may see a different side to it. I don't want to jeopardize his recovery. What is your opinion?" asked Paul. "I think you're right. I mean, he has been going out of his way, especially during this last mission. He's been responding to treatment well, and in fact, I'm expecting him to be finished with the cordazine shots by the end of the week." She paused, then continued. "I think giving him more responsibility would increase his ability to want to do more than he already is." <> "I've also noticed his behavior. He seems to be adjusting well to the normal environment rather than a drug related one." <> Since they were on a personal level talking basis, Kaitlyn was still unsure if this was all he called her here to talk about or not. Reports indicated that the Cardassians were nearing the station, but it would be some time before he would be needed in an official capacity. He tapped his comm badge. "Casely to Rogers, please report to my office," he stated grinning to himself. He couldn't resist the torture of not telling Rogers what was going on before giving him an advancement. Eventually, Rogers arrived and was let in by Paul, who kept an impassive look on his face. (Reply Rogers) Paul shook his head, "I've heard all about you Mr. Rogers! He was startled from his dark musings by the voice of his Captain, Gul Damok addressing him. "Bokat, are the preparations ready for us to dock with Starbase Geneva? Have you completed the duty assignments for crew not offloading?" Damok asked with a slight wink of his eye. Bokat knew what he was really asking of course, the preparations had been completed long before today and what Damok was asking was just window dressing, he forced a small smile to his face and nodded before saying with gusto. "Of course Gul Damok, all crew scheduled for 'Leave' on the station have been notified and are awaiting your order." Damok nodded at him then and got to the heart of his dark mood. "What about Glinn Tamin, has he been found yet?" Glinn Bokat turned his head away from his CO for an instant as a fierce grimace came and then went, after he had calmed he turned his head back to Damok. "No Gul Damok, I have had every compartment of this ship searched extensively and still he eludes me." He gripped the rail with his left hand until it paled. "But I will find him soon, he has no way to leave without my knowledge." Damok then looked to his right at Council Member Madon and whispered to him. Glinn did not need to pretend to have his attention on something else, his mind was going over the possible hiding places and security steps again as they talked. "Gil Ellok, open a channel to the station." Gul Damok called, that brought Glinn out of his reverie again and he watched the screen with interest. "Starbase Geneva, this is Gul Damok of the Reklar requesting permission to dock," Damok said expansively. =^=Gul Damok, this is Lieutenant Yalrath of Starbase Geneva. We are feeding the coordinates to your helm for docking. Please follow all instructions and be aware that due to an external threat, the Starbase is on a security alert. No personnel may enter the station with weaponry and your compliment of crewmembers joining the station will be strictly limited. I'm sorry for any difficulties. Geneva out.=^=The screen then blanked immediately. "Is the loss of our weaponry going to hamper our mission, Madon?" Glinn gave that conversation his utmost attention, their whole purpose for being here hinged on it. (Reply: Madon) (Posted by Charles) (CUS Reklar - Galor Class - Bridge – Counsel Member Madon - 1329) Council member Madon looked about the bridge of the Reklar with a sence of quiet detachment from the normal goings on associated with a Cardassian vessel. In the command chair, Gul Damok looked unusually ill at ease & Madon had become slightly concerned at her cohorts nervousness in regards their current mission. It certainly wouldn`t do for him to be looking out of place to the rest of the crew. She might have to reassure him somewhat. For the moment though, Madon chose to put the matter into the back of her mind. Gul Damok however was now looking over at Council Member Madon with a concerned look in his eye as she stood to his right. "I wish, Council Member, that we could ascertain the whereabouts of Tamin. He is, at the moment, the one individual who troubles me," Damok said dropping his voice to a whisper. Madon lowered her head as Damok spoke. "Tamin will not be a problem so long as he adheres to the task assigned to him", said Madon raising her head to it`s previous level. "He knows nothing of our task & besides, if he becomes a problem to us or our cause, I have a feeling he will soon be seeing things from our....let us say, unique point of view", said Madon with a smile. Damok nodded. "Gil Ellok, open a channel to the station." "Aye Sir," replied Ellok. "Starbase Geneva, this is Gul Damok of the CUS Reklar requesting permission to dock," stated Damok grandly, any signs of his previous nerves having now lost his person. The fresh faced vista of the starfleet crewman manning Geneva`s ops station then appeared on the main viewer to give them the required docking coordinates & also some essential status reports on Geneva`s current security alerts. He then went on to impose certain conditions for the Reklar crew disembarkment, these involving a strict, no weapons rule & a scant limit on the amount of crew boarding the station at any one time. This was then followed rather bizarrely by a smiling apology thereof. With that, the screen went blank. Madon smiled also. ~Why we did not succeed on our last mission I will never know, such weak creatures~ she thought... Damok turned to Madon and then Bokat and spoke in a whisper, "Is the loss of our weaponry going to hamper our mission, Madon?" "No Damok", said Madon in a curt voice, "Our mission is not dependant upon weaponry, what we must achieve requires trust", she added. "We must show them that we can earn their trust, once we gain that, our mission will proceed without the need for a single shot to be fired", said Madon as she turned almost smugly to the viewscreen & the sight of the Geneva station beckoning them on. (Posted by Alan Reading) (Starbase Geneva, Personal quarters, ACEO ENsign McLaren, 1330) Matthew jogged into his quarters. He knew he only had a short time before the delegates would arrive and he had to change into his dress uniform, a task that didn't exactly thrill him. After pulling on his uniform he dashed for the door still fixing his collar as he moved. The turbolift shot down throughout the station to the docking bay and the doors slid open revealing only LT Casely standing there with a few other crew milling about. (Posted by Matthew McLaren) (Starbase Geneva, Main Operations, OPs, Lieutenant (JG) Zadora Yalrath, - 1331) Zadora looked on as the screen faded. She fed the information into the computer and transmitted it to the Reklar. She then tapped her comm badge. "Yalrath to Captain Arianna and Lieutenant Casely. The Cardassians have arrived and are in docking procedure. I'll notify the rest of the senior staff and Security," stated Zadora. She knew that if there were any problems they'd contact her directly. For now, the Captain and her First Officer had to get themselves into formal wear. There was the chance was well, that the Captain's meeting with the Admiral hadn't ended yet, in which case Casely would be there on his own. (Reply Arianna iyw) Zadora tapped her badge again, "Yalrath to senior staff, the Cardassians have arrived. Don't forget, you all need to wear your full dress uniforms, this is a diplomatic function. Security is required to provide additional personnel." (Reply any, all) "The Reklar is docking on deck 75," said Zadora as she cut the channel. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Personal Office, Station Head, Humans for Humanity, Dean Benford, 1342) Dean was, by now, more than aware of the arrival of the Cardies. He steepled his fingers in anticipation and smiled wickedly. By now, his surprise should be in place for them. While Dean didn't support having alien species in the Earth Federation, if they did have to be there it made sense to have them in a subordinate position, such as Doenitz was proposing. Dean did not want any talks with alien species to succeed and knew that he had to do everything he could to cause Lodona difficulty. He opened a scrambled intercom channel, "Is the surprise ready?" "Yes, it is," came the staticky reply. Dean smiled broadly. They would never know what hit them. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Docking bay, ACEO Ensign SG McLaren, 1343) "Where the heck is everyone?" Paul said aloud to no one in particular. "Reporting as ordered sir." Matthew replied as he steeped out of the lift. (posted by Matt) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 75 Docking bay, FO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant (SG) Paul Casely, 1344) Paul walked into the docking bay, tugging on his dress uniform. His service medal hung from one side. The red was definitely a different look for him, but he'd deal with it. Paul looked around, none of the other senior staff had arrived yet, he hoped they would soon. He knew that the Cardassian delegation would be out on the platform any minute. Paul knew that this was an important diplomatic function, he wanted things to go well. He hadn't really been down in these docking bays before. They were large, a group of crewman ran around in final preparations, making sure that the equipment was working properly. Paul noticed that the bay was slightly warmer than usual. Yalrath had obviously thought to increase the heat and humidity for their guests. "Where the heck is everyone?" Paul said aloud to no one in particular. The Cardassians where on the Deck, so Casely was probably there too. Urgently Dorrin taped his combadge "Sir, the computer has detected an active Incendiary device on Deck 75 Docking Bay. Computer, activate red alert with a command to vacate Deck 75 Docking Bay and activate sectional force shields to Deck 75 Docking Bay 120 seconds after the alert begins," he stated aloud. The red alert klaxon began to sound and Paul heard the computerized voice state aloud that the secitonal shields were about to come online and watched as the crew on the deck vacated the area as quickly as possible. Paul sighed again, this was not really what he wanted to occur before having the Cardassians visit. "Lieutenant Yalrath, please tell the Cardassian delegation of the current difficulty in the docking bay they are currently docking in. Use the tractor beam to push them away from the station and give them an alternative docking bay on the next set of levels to dock at," stated Paul calmly. He then noticed the sectional shields start to go up. =^=Aye Sir,=^= came Yalrath's reply. Paul watched as the ship quickly vacated the area and then tapped his comm badge again. "Alright Mr. Klars, feel free to transport me out of docking bay 75. Deck 3 would be good," stated Paul blandly. (Reply Klars) "That won't be necessary, everything else has been looked after," replied Paul as he felt the transporter effect take hold. Behind him, he knew that the force fields were closing in, forming a bubble inside the docking bay. There would be an explosion, but one that would cause no real damage. This would go down as an 'incident' and nothing more. ~As I said, the station is a fortress.~ thought Paul as his form materialized on a transporter pad on deck 3. The only affect of the placed explosive was a slight shudder within the station. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Docking Bay, ACEO Ensign SG Matthew McLaren, 1348) Matthew was chatting with some of the crew as they waited for the delegates to disembark from there vessel when all of a sudden a com voice could be heard coming from Casely's badge. =^=Sir, the computer has detected an active Incendiary device on Deck 75 Docking Bay. "Ensign, hold for a moment. The bay was suddenly filled by red flashing lights and the screech of sirens. Matthew began jogging for the exit, watching as the other crew did the same. Anticipating the worst Matthew tapped his badge on the run. "McLaren to engineering, damage control to the docking bay on deck 75 ASAP." "Yes sir, do you have any other orders for me regarding the device?" =^=That won't be necessary, everything else has been looked after,=^= replied Paul, and happy that a crisis was averted Dorrin ordered him transported to to Deck 3. After a few minutes Dorrin heard Paul's voice once again. =^=Casely to Senior Staff, change of plans, Deck 89 is our new destination. Thanks to Ensign Klars, that was a good catch. To be docking and then pushes away suddenly was an indignity, but then Geneva had protected them from a bomb. After his part in the Bajoran Occupation, Damok... even as he was now... knew how difficult it was to protect against bombs. What was more annoying to his 'Cardassian Side' was the friendly looking Bajoran who kept popping up to apprise them of what was going on. Damok knew she was talking through clenched teeth and pushing down her hatred every time they spoke. =^=I'm sorry Reklar, due to security concerns, you are to proceed to docking bay 89. Senior staff will be waiting for you there. Thank you, Geneva out.=^= With the coordinates fed in, the Reklar careened towards its new destination. Damok couldn't resist the urge to chuckle. The irony was too sweet. He dropped his voice so only Madon and Bokat could hear him. "I wonder what they would have done if they would have known. Perhaps leave the bomb alone?" (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Crew Quarters, ATAC/ASC Ensign JG Samantha Chandler - 1350) Sam looked at the mess on the bed. At the bottom of that bag was her dress uniform. ~It had to be at the bottom of the last bag,~ she thought to herself. She had just finished putting on her uniform when Lt Casely's voice came over the comm. =^=Casely to Senior Staff, change of plans, Deck 89 is our new destination. Thanks to Ensign Klars, that was a good catch. I'll explain how I dealt with it later. Remember folks, full dress uniform. (Posted by Esther) (Starbase Geneva, Main Operations, FO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant (SG) Paul Casely, - 1351) Paul smoothed his uniform as he walked onto Main Operations. He looked over at Yalrath. "Lieutenant, where did you send them?" asked Paul. "Deck 89, Sir. I have to be honest, a part of me wished that they had been off the ship. I'm sorry Sir," said Zadora. Most of her family had been lost during the occupation. Despite the fact she grew up on a Cardassian Free Bajor, she still harboured ill will towards them. She'd heard to many stories. "I understand Zadora, but do your best to keep those feelings apart from your duties. We can't let them interfere," replied Paul cautiously. "Don't worry, Sir. I know my duty," came Zadora's terse reply. Paul tapped his comm badge, "Casely to Senior Staff, change of plans, Deck 89 is our new destination. Thanks to Ensign Klars, that was a good catch. I'll explain how I dealt with it later." (Reply Klars, Mackenzie, Chandler, Rogers, Marta, Gr'iann, McLaren, Arianna) "Remember folks, full dress uniform. This is diplomatic after all," stated Paul sighing as he did so. He started back for the turbolift and then paused for a second. There were many more specific things that individuals needed to take care of. Despite the presence of diplomats on the station, things had to continue properly. "Ensign Klars, Ensign Chandler? I need the two of you to start investigating this little blast. Lets find out how someone can bypass our increased security to plant a bomb. Show up for the Cardassian boarding first, then get on it. I have the area quarentined. No one is allowed in until after you finish your investigation. Work with each other and report back to me," stated Paul. (Reply Klars, Chandler) "Ensign McLaren, for now please keep your engineering teams out of the docking bay. Its a crime scene. Thanks," said Paul. He knew his assistant Chief Engineer likely wanted to get things fixed as fast as possible, but he had to make sure that Klars and Chandler had a chance to go over it first. (Reply McLaren) "Doctor Mackenzie? You might want to consider setting up a triage centre after we meet with the Cardassians. Use one of the Medical Centers closer to the Marine area. If we have to deal with another bombing or some form of attack, you can move down there and have it in reserve. This attempted bombing this morning got me to thinking how we have to be ready for the eventuality of mass injury," said Paul. (Reply Mackenzie) "Lieutenant Marta? Ensign Rogers? You might want to talk to the crewmen who were in the bay that had to be evacuated. Even though there was no loss of life, some of the younger ones might be a bit shaken up. We have a war now, and there was a terrorist act in the same day. I'll have Lieutenant Yalrath send the details of who was on shift to you. Of course, once again this is after we meet the Cardassian dignitaries," Paul stated grimly. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (CUS Reklar, Galor Class - Bridge- FO - Glinn Bokat - 1352) Madon was right of course, Bokat knew that intuitively but the ingrained responses from his Cardassian side had made him apprehensive for a moment at the thought of entering the station unarmed in the presence of former foes, he nodded and turned back to contemplation of their objective as they prepared to disembark. The communication from the station was unexpected and unwelcome and Bokat was forced to consider the possibility that Tamin had gotten a message out ahead of their arrival and recruited someone to help forestall their plans but even if that were true he did not have the backing of the officers of the station or they would not have warned them they were walking into an ambush and what about Tamin? How did he manage to elude capture? Had he help from someone on board to elude the net Bokat had thrown out to ensnare him? Also Bokat had seen no evidence that any communications had left the vessel but if he did have allies on the ship who were aiding him... perhaps with their help he might have found a way to direct the signal around their alerts. Bokat set that line of thought aside for now and returned to the quandry of weapons and it almost made him laugh as he set his legs against the movement of the vessel as the Reklar moved to another dock on the station, energy weapons were brutally effective but they could be quickly and easily countered if one knew they were to be employed but their weapons could be far more effective... and insidious than such implements of war. Why destroy your enemy, especially one in a position of importance when alone with him for a short time you could recruit him to your cause and make him one with you? ~Why indeed?~ Bokat heard Damok chuckle and turned slightly to look at him as he said with lowered voice. "I wonder what they would have done if they would have known. Perhaps leave the bomb alone?" "Perhaps Gul Damok." Bokat said thoughtfully and lowered his voice as well as he leaned toward the two. "Or perhaps not if they had known we were taking over a sprinkling of the 'others' as insurance against such a move. These beings are very zealous for the protection of certain of their protocols and principles where it applies to other races though they practice anything but among themselves, that is why it is so easy to turn their policies against them to their detriment. I am more concerned whether Tamin has managed to recruit allies on the ship and who they might be. I will need to make a sweep of the groups that are slated for Geneva once again to be certain nothing is leaving the ship unnoticed." (Posted by Charles) (CUS Reklar - Galor Class - Bridge - Council Member Madon - 1353) Madon was of course, well aware of the concerns of her two compatriots. They were utterly founded & relevant but she chose to dismiss them in her usual calm manner. This new symbiotic form in which she now existed empowered her in ways that she would never have even imagined beforehand. In her past form, she had been a rather shy, unassuming individual, empowered with the parasitic lifeform however, she had become a cold, calculating ice queen. There was no room for failure in her mind whatsoever, this station would be theirs & they would succeed where past attempts had failed. Glinn Bokat however had made a very good point. He intonated the possibility that Tamin might have help from within the station, there were known fifth column factions on Geneva, it was a given fact that wherever there was any kind of governed heirarchy in place, there would be those that opposed the rules & Geneva was no exception. "The moment you are able to do so, you will implement that plan", said Madon reffering to Bokat`s plan to seek out those factions. "They might come in......", said Madon pausing briefly to chose the correct word. "Useful", she added her lips forming again into a tight lipped smile. (Reply Damok, Bokat, IYW) "The fools are no doubt planning to meet us in some ungainly ceremonial fashion", said Madon, "We will give them what they expect & treat them with the utmost dignity", she added. "Once we are in place to act we will progress upwards through their ranks until we have the command structure of this station", said Madon standing up straight as she finished speaking. "We will not fail this time", she added in her usual cold, clipped manner. (Posted by Alan Reading) (Starbase Geneva, deck 75 Corridor, ACEO Ensign SG McLaren, 1354) Matthew moved quickly along the corridor. As he reached the turbolift another call came in from the First Officer. =^=Ensign McLaren, for now please keep your engineering teams out of the docking bay. Its a crime scene. Thanks,=^= said Paul. "Understood sir." He said then tapped his badge again as he stepped into the lift. "McLaren to damage control team alpha. I've had just about enough of him!~ Over and over again, he had been instrumental in ruining Dean's machinations. The cost to his organization was beginning to mount and serious questions were being asked by his own higher ups. "Allenby!" Dean yelled into his intercom. =^=Yes?=^= came a rather terse reply. "Casely! Out of the picture! Do it!" Dean shot back. =^=Consider it done.=^=replied Allenby. For an instant Benford could almost here Allenby salivating with anticipation. He introduced himself first. "I'm Captain Damok of the Reklar. I believe we have spoken previously, although your rank and uniform colour were somewhat different," Damok said. Brian smiled. He was surprised the Cardassian captain reconized something like that. Though they were sort of...militaristic and probably respected such things. Following that, Paul introduced the senior staff. "Well gentlemen, good to see you here. Aren't these uniforms wonderful?" Paul joked. "Uh, yes, sir," Brian said in a grinning manner. "Yeah i was wondering if i could wear it full time." Matthew said sarcastically with a grin. After the senior crew had arrived the airlock rolled open to reveal 3 Cardassians who promptly stepped out. The captain introduced himself to Casely and Casely in return introduced the senior crew around. When McLaren was introduced he nodded politely at the Cardassians in greeting, although he was feeling slightly uneasy. Something didn't feel right here. Then the female Cardassian introduced herself to the crew in turn, stopping to talk to LT Marta. Again Matthew Felt there was something wrong. After being blind for most of his life and depending on his other sensors for survival, he had come to trust his instincts, and they were screaming at him now. He snapped himself out of his thoughts and tried to concentrate on the proceedings, but as he did he saw the other Cardassian looking at him while he pretended to be looking at Casely. ~what's going on here~ Matthew inconspicuously moved his hand to his phaser on his belt feeling reassured at its presence. He would have to mention this to Casely at the first opportunity. He had learned many years ago to trust his instincts and he wasn't going to change now. He continued watching the Cardassian out of the corner of his eye. His optical implants allowed him to have complete peripheral vision to the point that he could zoom in and out at any angle. He saw the Cardassian clench his fists when he was looking at Marta. ~That was the second person to take extra interest in her, what's that mean? Something to do with her being a Trill? Or a councilor, but Rogers is a councilor too and he didn't pay much attention to him.~ Then the Female Cardassian, Matthew had missed her name, introduced the other Cardassian to be Bokat. Matthew filed that away. ~Might pay to do some research on that one.~ After the meeting was over they began filing out. Matthew kept his focus on the three Cardassians while making out he was looking straight ahead. He'd played this game before. (Posted by Matt) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 89 Docking Bay, FO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant (SG) Paul Casely, 1410) Paul gave a last tug on his uniform as he walked onto the docking bay. He looked at the combat ribbon hanging on one side of his uniform. ~Yep, its straight.~ Paul noticed that Ensigns McLaren, Klars and Rogers had already arrived. He tapped his comm badge. "Let's get the lead out people. The delegates are going to disembark at any moment," he stated urgently. As was expected, Captain Arianna was in an important meeting with Lodonna about the war and couldn't be present. He knew she'd appear as soon as she could. (Reply any, all) Paul looked to the group, "Well gentlemen, good to see you here. Aren't these uniforms wonderful?" Paul grinned looking at the men in front of him in their dress uniforms. Why Starfleet had never been able to produce a comfortable dress uniform was beyond him. (Reply Rogers, Klars, MacLaren, iyw) The group watched as other senior staff entered and then, as the airlock door slid by. Slowly a group of three Cardassians exited the craft, a female and two males. Casely called the senior staff to attention to honour the delegates disembarking. The group approached and one of the males looked at Casely. "I'm Captain Damok of the Reklar. I believe we have spoken previously, although your rank and uniform colour were somewhat different," stated Damok pleasantly, outstretching his hand. Paul took his hand and shook it, "I'll introduce you tot he crew present, Ensign's Klars and Chandler are assistant tactical and security chiefs, Ensign McLaren is assistant chief engineer, Doctor Mackenzie is the Assistant Chief Medical Officer, Ensign Rogers is one of the station's counsellors and the station's Acting Third Officer, Lieutenant Marta is another of our station's counsellors." "I believe I shall defer to Council Member Madon for the introductions, as this his her party, it is a please to meet you all, however," replied Damok. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 89, Docking Bay, ATAC/ASC Ensign JG Samantha Chandler - 1411) Sam walked into the docking bay not too far behind Lt. Casely. She nodded to them as she walked over to take her place near them. And then, she waited as the other senior staff filed in. A few moments later, the airlock door opened and three Cardassians stepped out of the ship. Lt. Casely called everyone to attention as they approached. Sam watched as Lt. Casely spoke with one of the Cardassians. She wondered how long this entire thing would last. She really hated wearing the dress uniform. (Posted By Esther) (Starbase Geneva-Docking Bay-ACMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-1412) Upon arriving in the docking bay, Kaitlyn could see she was just in time. Between the events that had been unfolding around the starbase, she wondered how she ever kept up with herself. Waiting with Rogers, McLaren, Casely and Klars, she herself was anticipating the arrival of the Cardassians. As she watched the doors open, they revealed a female and two males. She thought the leaded looked somewhat suprised. "I'm Captain Damok of the Reklar. I believe we have spoken previously, although your rank and uniform colour were somewhat different," stated Damok. Realizing that was what he has been suprised by, Kaitlyn didn't think much of it as Casely started to introduce some of the crew. "I'll introduce you to the crew present, Ensign's Klars and Chandler are assistant tactical and security chiefs, Ensign McLaren is assistant chief engineer, Doctor Mackenzie is the Assistant Chief Medical Officer, Ensign Rogers is one of the station's counsellors and the station's Acting Third Officer, Lieutenant Marta is another of our station's counsellors." As Casely introduced her, Kaitlyn nodded her head, a sign letting them know who she was and that she was just as willing to get acquainted with them as well. (Posted by: Stacey) (Starbase Geneva - Deck 89 Docking Bay – Council Member Madon - 1413) It seemed as though it had taken forever for the trio to finally set foot upon the Geneva station. One mishap after another had hampered their progress so far, first the disappearance of Tamin, then a rather ill timed bomb threat necessitating their redirect to another docking bay. ~What else could happen~ thought Madon... As the doors slid open onto the awaiting Geneva high brass though, Madon tried her best to smile as they walked slowly through to greet the assemblance therein. She allowed Gul Damok to approach them first, knowing that this would have been expected in such circumstances as these. "I'm Captain Damok of the Reklar", said Damok. "I believe we have spoken previously, although your rank and uniform colour were somewhat different," stated Damok pleasantly, outstretching his hand. Madon surveyed the assembled crewmembers but said nothing as Casely extended his hand to shake Damoks as he offered it, & then rather awkwardly returned it towards his tight collar so as to ease it`s obvious uncomfortable proximity to his neck. "I'll introduce you to the crew present", said the Starfleet FO, returning his hand to it`s normal position at his side as he spoke. "Ensign's Klars and Chandler are assistant tactical and security chiefs, Ensign McLaren is assistant chief engineer, Doctor Mackenzie is the Assistant Chief Medical Officer, Ensign Rogers is one of the station's counsellors and the station's Acting Third Officer, Lieutenant Marta is another of our station's counsellors.", said Casely. Damok acknowledged each of them in turn with a courteous nod & then he turned to look at Madon standing behind him & to his left. "I believe I shall defer to Council Member Madon for the introductions as this his her party, it is a pleasure to meet you all, however," replied Damok. Madon smiled towards the Gul & then stepped forwards purposefully in response. She graciously shook the First officers hand, nodding as she did so. "A pleasure to finally meet you, I have so much been looking forwards to this meeting", said Madon as she then turned her gaze to the officer immediately beside him. Greetings were extended to each of them in turn & then finally, council member Madon found herself standing before councillor Marta who had already extended her hand towards her. Madon eyed the blonde haired woman curiously & then took her hand. "You are Trill?", said Madon. (Reply Marta) "I have a...special interest in conjoined species", said Madon, "the connection of one to another is a fascinating concept don`t you agree councillor", she added with a smile. (Reply Marta, IYW) Madon smiled again & then returned to stand before First officer Casely as her entourage looked on. She paused to look around the interior of the docking bay, breathing in deeply as she did so. "The air in here seems much cleaner than the cramped confines of a Cardassian heavy cruiser", said Madon looking down at the mans rank pins at his collar as she spoke. "Lieutenant?", she added, "I believe your insignia denotes that rank does it not?", she asked with another smile. (Reply Casely) Madon paused again as the First officer spoke, then she went on to enquire as to their accommodation. "I requested quarters adjacent to my associates", said Madon, "I trust it has been possible & acceptable for this to be arranged at such short notice", she added. (Reply Casely, Any) Madon nodded in a most humble fashion, then she stepped back to return to the two Cardassians standing behind. "You have already met Gul Damok of course", said Madon, then turning to Bokat, she introduced the second member of her party. "Glinn Bokat is second in command of the Reklar, Gul Damok`s first officer", said Madon. "Both are integral to my delegation & have my utmost trust", said Madon returning her gaze to Lt Casely as she finished speaking. (Reply Casely, IYW) The First officer, finishing with the pleasantries associated with first meetings then led them all casually from the docking bay towards their arranged quarters. (Posted by Alan Reading) (Starbase Geneva - Deck 89 Docking Bay - FO, Glinn Bokat - 1414) The procession from the Reklar was slow and stately, Bokat noticed that the Councelor this time was the one who seemed slightly nervous from her tight lips but that was to be expected, not being at the forefront of the party he made a point to observe his surroundings critically as they entered the station. The First Officer of the station stepped forward to greet them as they stepped into the bay and Gul Damok and he exchanged pleasentries and handclasps, Bokat was studying the one called Casely minutely as he made the introductions of the ceremonial group of officers that had accompanied him. The young human was ill at ease in the presence of the delegation and unused to the dress uniform he wore. Certainly he was not highly experienced. ~Nor of high rank as one would expect from the second in command of a station.~ Those involved in the tactical and security departments were of special interest to Bokat and he gave them a quick looking over without appearing to do so while he kept the slight smile which was little more than a shadow shining innocently from his face. Klars and Chandler were competent looking and the woman in such a difficult job was a curiosity. They were both of low rank however and though not to be discounted they did not occupy a high priority in his plans though He would have to work around them at times it was certain to carry out his duties. McClaren was stoutly built, Bokat noticed something intriguing about his eyes, they appeared to be mechanisms made to look like human eyes. ~Interesting.~ Bokat though but again this one was not of high enough rank to pique his interest. He smiled well though when McKenzie was introduced. ~ Lieutenant commander.~ She was a possibility though it was difficult to understand why she was only the assistant medical officer. ~Rank here is confusing to say the least.~ The acting 3/0 Rogers was tall and strongly built. ~A strong possibility indeed.~ His eyes narrowed at the spots on Martas neck and his hands clenched slightly as his mouth opened, showing even teeth. ~A symbiote! Called a Trill I understand.~ He would watch that one closely. The introduction of Counselor Madon by Gul Damok signaled an end to his investigations but he would continue to digest the information later. I'll defer to Council Member Madon for the introductions as this his her party, it is a pleasure to meet you all, however," Damok.stated. "A pleasure to finally meet you, I have so much been looking forwards to this meeting", said Madon after taking the first officers hand then greeted the rest of the assembled officers with a nod... except for Marta whom she stopped before and spoke to. As they talked Bokat looked about the dock to familiarize himself with its layout. He found her comment about Casely's rank to be out of place considering her earlier comments to be utterly gracious but it was not his place to correct her. He had settled in for an interminable time of small talk when she mentioned their quarters. "I requested quarters adjacent to my associates. I trust it has been possible & acceptable for this to be arranged at such short notice", she added graciously. The answer was what he had expected. She then made the intoductions. ~Finally~ Thought Bokat. "You have already met Gul Damok of course" She said then turned to him. "Glinn Bokat is second in command of the Reklar, Gul Damok`s first officer", said Madon. "Both are integral to my delegation & have my utmost trust", said Madon. Bokat bowed his body slightly in acknowledgement of the introduction to the assembled officers and looked at each one in turn. Bokat was glad the meeting was finally coming to an end, he glanced at Rogers and McKenzie and smiled at her welcoming look as they began to leave the dock for their quarters. (Posted by Charles) (Starbase Geneva-Docking Bay-ACMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-1415) "A pleasure to finally meet you, I have so much been looking forwards to this meeting", said Madon. As the introductions took place, Kaitlyn took the time to look them over as well. She noticed how they seemed polite on the outside, but wondered what they were really like. She assumed they were probably thinking the same thing about them. "I requested quarters adjacent to my associates. I trust it has been possible & acceptable for this to be arranged at such short notice", she added graciously. As Casely responded to their inquiry, she looked at McLaren who was standing on the other side of her. For some reason she thought he looked uneasy. With the formalities having been taken care of, the group of Cardassians and Starfleet officers began walking out of the docking bay, as the meeting in dress uniform had reached it's conclusion. As they were walking out of the docking bay, she caught a glimpse of Bokat's gaze, and was starting to feel uneasy herself. ~Just nerves.~ She tried not to let it show. ~I can't wait to get out of this thing,~ she thought, trying not to tug at her dress uniform. Because of her uneasiness, she also couldn't wait to get back to the medical center. (Posted by: Stacey) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 89 Docking Bay, FO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant (SG) Paul Casely, 1416) Paul listened and engaged in the display of pleasantries with the Cardassians. It seemed a strange affair. While he had never before engaged in dialogue with Cardassians directly from the union, he had heard about and studied their legendary arrogance. Paul had studied diplomacy well before entering Starfleet and there was just something... odd. He shrugged his shoulders unconsciously, perhaps the journals had been wrong. It wouldn't be the first time. He studied the faces of the members of the delegation and was slightly taken aback by Madon's strange fascination with Marta. The Cardassian Union had been aware of the Trill for a long time, why was this such a fascination? "Lieutenant?", she added, "I believe your insignia denotes that rank does it not?", she asked with another smile. "That is correct, Council Member. I am currently the second highest ranking member in command division on the station. Division denotes job, we are all specifically trained for what we are doing, based on division. It is possible to be a Captain in Engineering, for example, but not have command. We can also cross divisions with proper training and desire," replied Paul, refusing to take any offense at the slight. "I requested quarters adjacent to my associates", said Madon, "I trust it has been possible & acceptable for this to be arranged at such short notice", she added. Paul nodded, "We have a full diplomatic deck on which you'll be housed. That will not pose a problem in any way. Now, if you'll follow me, I'll be happy to show you to your quarters. Senior Officers, you are dismissed." With that, Paul led them through the turbolifts and to their quarters. The group made their way to the diplomatic deck and once they were ensconced safely in their quarters, Paul took his leave of them. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, deck 89, docking bay, ACEO Ensign SG McLaren, 1418) Matthew exited the docking bay with the others. Every muscle on his body was tense and he willed them to relax. It would become noticeable if he continued to tense up. "Senior Officers, you are dismissed." Paul said as they left. Matthew needed to talk to Casely immediately but he was already stepping into a turbolift with the Cardassians. ~damn.~ He saw another turbolift whose doors wee just closing and bolted into it as the doors hissed shut. He leant against the back wall of the lift trying to calm down. "Deck 34" He said. (Posted by Matthew McLaren) (Starbase Geneva - Diplomatic Deck - Council Member Madon - 1425) The talk was brief & rather strained as Council Member Madon, Gul Damok & Glinn Bokat walked with Lt. Casely & another of his officers towards their ultimate destinations on the diplomatic deck. It was quite clear by now that there was a certain unease at the arrival of the Cardassians on the station, Madon had sensed it immediately & she imagined that Damok & Bokat had also, it was to be expected though. For many years they had been associated with acts of a somewhat barbaric nature, it had taken a long time for anyone to trust the Cardassians & for some, trust would never come. The journey towards their quarters had emphasized this on more than one occasion. Crewmembers staring as they passed & passing comment to one another made it blatantly clear to them regardless of anything they might be told. Once they had reached their quarters however, Lt. Casely bade each of them a comfortable stay as he ushered them into the rooms assigned to them. Once inside hers, Madon imediately breathed a sigh of relief & made herself comfortable, walking towards one of the viewing ports as she allowed herself to relax a little. The vista from the station was spectacular, a long time ago before she had been infected, Madon would have found it a wonderful sight to behold, now though, she just found it so so. The only thing she took notice of was the fact that the Reklar was clearly visible, attached as it was to the docking umbilical that secured it to the station. Casually, she turned from the window to walk towards a mirror upon the wall & then looked into it to survey her appearance. For a Cardassian woman, she was quite beautiful, her long black hair pulled back around her face & tied loosely with a band to add some semblance of smoothness to her otherwise ridged, classically Cardassian appearance. It was purely functional of course for it hid the small pulsating protrusion at the back of her neck. Madon reached behind her to gently touch it with her fingertips, smiling as she did so, then she turned to walk towards the couch in the centre of the room, pulling out a small device from a pocket as she did so. She then placed the device upon the table before the couch & activated it before sitting down. It beeped to indicate it’s active status & then covertly jammed any possible listening devices that might have been placed within the room beforehand. It was probably not needed but Madon knew that to be cautious was always the best option if you were engaged in anything you didn’t want others to know about. For a short while, Madon sat in contemplation, then suddenly she rose in order to leave her quarters to visit Gul Damok`s adjacent to it, placing the device beneath the couch to hide it from view as she did so. Once there, she wasn`t surprised of course to see that Glinn Bokat was there also, the two busy in discussion about something or other & having already activated an identical jamming device to the one she had activated in her quarters. Upon her entry however, they stopped talking, turned & then moved to sit upon the couch as she moved also to join them. "Well", said Madon, "I don`t know about the two of you but I found that all extremely distasteful", she added. (Reply Damok, Bokat, Any) They were correct of course, Madon had been aware of the engineering officers obvious unease at their presence, he had eyed them curiously the entire time, perhaps it would be he who would receive the first parasite, although to be truthful, an engineering crewman offered little tactical advantage at this point in time & Madon knew it. "We need to approach one of the lower ranking officers first", said Madon, "someone who will have unquestioned access to other crewmembers", she added. "I rather thought that someone in medical would be an obvious starting point", she said, intonating as she did so that she required their comments on this. (Reply Damok, Bokat, Any) "We must do everything we can to avoid raising suspicions as to the true nature of our mission", said Madon. "Glinn Bokat", she added, "how soon do you think you might be able to gain access to resources pertaining to groups that might hinder or help us whilst we are here", said Madon relaxing back into the comfortable seating as she spoke. (Reply Bokat) "See to it as soon as you are able to do so without raising too many questions", said Madon. (Reply Bokat, IYW) "I will see to it that our progress so far is relayed to the home world", said Madon. The three then continued to discuss their mission & how they would go about it, stopping only briefly to fill a glass each of Rokassa juice that had been graciously supplied by their hosts in an attempt to make them feel more comfortable & at home. (Posted by Alan Reading) (Starbase Geneva, Diplomatic Centre - CO - Gul Damok - 1442) Bokat and Damok had found their discussion based around the Starfleet personnel's behaviour quickly ended by the arrival of Coucil Member Madon. "Well", said Madon, "I don`t know about the two of you but I found that all extremely distasteful", she added. "Distasteful? Most certainly, but necessary," replied Damok, "Had we not gone through their strange ritual they would have known something was 'unusual'. A group of Cardassians would arise suspicion anyway on a Starbase, that helps us to some small extent in keeping our true nature hidden, but that would all be undone if we didn't at least 'try' to behave as our... hosts... would." "We need to approach one of the lower ranking officers first", said Madon, "someone who will have unquestioned access to other crewmembers", she added. "I rather thought that someone in medical would be an obvious starting point", she said, intonating as she did so that she required their comments on this. "From medical we appear to have the choice of Mackenzie, a high ranking member of the staff or Lieutenant Marta, I'm not sure how her symbiot would react to our particular joining, or Ensign Rogers," stated Damok, "My first choice, given your criteria would be Rogers." "We must do everything we can to avoid raising suspicions as to the true nature of our mission", said Madon. Damok drank the rokassa juice slowly and made a disgusted face. "I suppose we can't expect them to supply live grubworms to us," he stated ironically. Cardassians did not engage in grubworms any more than humans did, but it was considered delicious and nutritious by the other inhabitant. (Reply Madon, Bokat) "We may have to find some way to supply our specific nutritional needs while here. That could be difficult in itself without raising suspicion," said Damok. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Main Operations, FO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant (SG) Paul Casely, - 1444) Paul had resumed work and his normal duty schedule. Protocol dictated that the station's present 'guests' be allowed time to acclimatize and get used to their surroundings. Paul knew that everyone was busy with something, especially security who should, at this moment, be investigating the bomb blast from earlier in the afternoon. Knowing that most of the rest of the day on the station was supposed to be routine, Paul tapped his comm badge. "Ensign Rogers? Could you do a little research for me if you're not too busy?" asked Paul. (Reply Rogers) "Please prepare a briefing on the command structure of both the Cardassian Military and the Civilian Detapa Council. I have a bit of prior personal information, but I think we could all use an update," stated Paul. (Reply Rogers) "Welcome to the big leagues Brian," Paul said closing the channel. He then tapped his comm badge again, "Doctor Mackenzie? I was wondering if we could update some of our Cardassian medical logs a bit. I wouldn't mind knowing a bit more about their physical structure." (Reply Mackenzie) "Just a good idea to keep up to date on these sorts of things," replied Paul before closing the channel and opening one to engineering. "Ensign McLaren? Please prepare a full report on Cardassian technology. You'll have to use the station library computers and any scans we took from their ship as it docked this morning. Just looking to keep up to date on things." (Reply McLaren) "Good, thanks," replied Paul. With that, he began to delve deeper into their political and social history. With Rogers covering one end of the spectrum, it was time for him to start researching the other. That way, they should be able to find a viable way to appeal to the Cardassian delegate to broker an arrangement. Continuing his monitoring of station activity, Paul continued his research until the end of his duty shift. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Holodeck 4, COUNS/A3O, Ensign {SG} Brian Rogers, 1445) Brian stood, wearing the Starfleet Marine combat uniform, with four holographic marines behind him. They stood in a narrow corridor and all carried phaser assault rifles. Brian gave the hand signal to move forward, and like clockwork, they crouched down and started moving forward. Soon, they came to an intersection, when two narrow corridors met. Brian stopped, looked both ways, then gave another signal. They turned left and started move. Suddenly, Brian spotted a Borg Drone, working on a failed plasma conduit, up ahead. Brian raised his rifle, and was about to fire when he heard a scream from behind. He spun around and saw one of his holographic teammates had been grabbed by a drone. About 3 or 4 other Drones had come up behind them. ~Oh great, we're trapped...~ The corridor was too narrow to run around the drones, and with one of them blocking the way in the front, and 4... soon a fifth in the rear, he would have no choice but to-... The program freezed has Lt. Casely came threw. =^= Ensign Rogers? Could you do a little research for me if you're not too busy? =^= "Uh, no, sir. Just keeping up on my phaser target practice," Brian said with a wide grin. =^= Please prepare a briefing on the command structure of both the Cardassian Military and the Civilian Detapa Council. I have a bit of prior personal information, but I think we could all use an update, =^= Paul asked. "Yes, sir. I'll have it ready," Brian said. It was going to be hard work, but hard work was Brian was glad to do it for a superior officer like Casely who noticed hard work, hence Brian's promotion, medal and new job. The channel closed and Brian looked around at his simulation. "Computer, save program and end for now." The walls of the Borg cube disappeared and so did Brian's faux Starfleet Marine battle suit, and his high-tech assuault rifle. He then headed out of the holodeck. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (Starbase Geneva-Personal Quarters-ACMO Lt. Cmdr. Taking off her dress uniform, she threw it over her bed as she quickly pulled on her regular uniform. She decided she'd take care of it later, as she had other pressing duties at the time. Finishing up, she took a quick glance at herself in the mirror, making sure her hair looked good, then was out the door. (Posted by Stacey) (Starbase Geneva, deck 34, Engineering, ACEO Ensign SG McLaren, 1450) Matthew had tried to busy himself in some work to put the uneasy feelings aside but it hadn't helped and he found himself pacing with a padd in one hand, reading the same line of text over and over again. =^=Ensign McLaren? Please prepare a full report on Cardassian technology. You'll have to use the station library computers and any scans we took from their ship as it docked this morning. Just looking to keep up to date on things.=^= came Casely's voice. "Yes sir, I'll get right on it. Um I was wondering if i could talk to you for a few minutes at your convenience, about the Cardassians." Said Matthew. (Reply Casely) "Understood sir. I'll get right on that report." "Good, thanks," replied Paul closing the channel. Matthew walked into his office and sat down letting out a sigh. He began keying in requests for the information on the Cardassians. (Posted by Matthew) (Starbase Geneva-Medical Center-ACMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-1452) Arriving in the medical center, Kaitlyn saw nurses making rounds and doing reports. ~Great...more reports for me later.~ She sighed, not looking forward to any of them, as she hated doing them the most. One patient she had in particular she decided to make a quick stop at. Lieutenant Jacob Sasine. Walking up to him, she said, "Hi lieutenant." "Oh, hi doctor," he said, already knowing what was about to come out of her mouth. "I thought I told you no more battling with the Klingons on the holodeck until your first injury healed up." She looked at him like a stern mother, which felt odd considering they were both of the same age. Sitting up, he said, "I know doc, but I have to improve on my battle skills. You never know when they might come in handy. Especially with what I hear is going on." He had a point, he was trying to better himself. But he would never reach that point if he didn't leave things alone to heal first. Taking out her tricorder, she scanned him and confirmed what she already knew. Three broken ribs and a laceration to match. "Lie back down Mr. Sasine. This will only take a moment." She then grabbed another instrument to set the broken bones, then heal the torn skin over them. It only took a few minutes. "So I bet I keep you pretty busy around here huh?" "Alright, you can sit up now." After he sat up, she returned her instruments to their trays, then came back to answer the question. "Well, between you and the hypochondriacs we have on board, you sure do." They both kept the conversation purely humorous. She watched his behavior as he was a very laid back person. Swinging his legs from the biobed, and making casual conversation. She liked running into these kind of people every once in awhile. It made it easier to put up with people who were hard *sses all day. "Alright, you're free to go," she said as he jumped down from the biobed. "And if I see you in here again before that injury heals, you're in trouble." Grinning, he said, "I'll take your word for it doc," then walked out the door. ~Stubborn security people.~ As she headed back towards her desk, she was inturrupted by a comm call. =^=Doctor Mackenzie? I was wondering if we could update some of our Cardassian medical logs a bit. I wouldn't mind knowing a bit more about their physical structure.=^= "Aye sir, I'll get right on it." =^=Just a good idea to keep up to date on these sorts of things,=^= replied Paul before closing the channel. Sitting down in her office, she turned on her computer and started her dig on Cardassian features. (Posted by: Stacey) (Starbase Geneva, Library, COUNS/A3O, Ensign {SG} Brian Rogers, 1454) Brian walked into the station's library. The last time he used it he had to translate that old time language. ~That was not an easy job...~ Brian thought. He grabbed one of the PADD's near the librarians desk and sat at one of the small work stations. "Computer, bring up all information on Cardassians," Brian said has he watched along the display. [Please wait, compiling...] The computer said. Brian watched in horror has quickly over 100,000 different files in the computer's database came up. Finally it stopped at 136,532. "Computer, what is this?" [Every file that is about any thing related to Cardassians, or mentions a Cardassian in the text.] "Computer, rephrase search, to files related to the Cardassian Military and their Depta Council." [Please wait, compiling...] The count of files was still large, but not has big. Only about 1,000. Brian frowned and opened the first one. ~Paul better give me my own ship for all this...~ Brian thought. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (Starbase Geneva, Main Operations, FO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant (SG) Paul Casely, 1455) As Paul listened to McLaren, he could hear definite concern in his voice. He paused for a second. There was a lot of work to do before the end of the shift, however... "Mr. McLaren, if you'd like to meet me in my office at... 1530 would be happy to hear your concerns," replied Paul, "In the meantime if you could get started I'd appreciate it. I'll see you in about forty minutes." (Reply McLaren, iyw) Paul preferred not to ignore the concerns of his senior staff. It was more than possible that he might have an insight that Paul might now. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Airlock umbilical between Reklar and Starbase Geneva, Obsidian Order Member, Glinn Tamin, - 1507) Four hours Tamin had hidden from the various security personnel in the compartment underneath the main deck of the airlock doors. This was something no Cardassian Captain would find, no chief engineer, no common crewmember. Carefully built into the ships of this class by the Obsidian Order was a network of compartments meant to hide in. Almost impossible to find, they were on no official plans and could lead easily into an airlock and out of the ship. Once through the umbilicial it was a simple affair to bypass the security on the airlock doors. Afterall, they really were not mean to keep people out. It would be not getting caught once he made it into Geneva that would be the trick and this was something Tamin was adept at. Tamin had spent a good part of his time in these compartments and was convinced by one thing... something was wrong. The mission to Geneva had been routine enough but the behaviour of his 'superior' officers had become strange as time wore on. The first officer of this vessel had engaged in an almost fanaticial attempt to find Tamin. Most captains and crews were content to 'contain' Obsidian Order members, knowing that as long as they were in hiding they could cause no real damage. This was almost a vendetta, one that Tamin had done nothing that he could think of to cause. Tamin came briefly to the door interlock and quickly set to work on them. His instruments were designed to quickly and easily bypass most security systems. He had long ago switched to civilian clothing. That would help him blend in a bit better, but Tamin was no fool, a Cardassian no matter what the clothing would arise some small amount of suspicion. For that, he had the holographic matrix. Holographic technology had happily come to such a level that it was definitely easier to change one's appearance, especially with a mobile emitter. If that failed, there was always the old standby, the makeup and prosethics that Tamin carried with him at all times. Once onboard, he would procure empty quarters somewhere in the civilian area and no one would be the wiser. Finally, the doors slid open and Tamin looked out at the small compliment of security people milling about. They hadn't spotted the door yet. Tamin dug in his bag and pulled out a slender object. He pointed it at the communications system in the room and pressed a button. =^=snap...worr...crack... hiss.. attac...hiss... missio... crack...=^= the comm sputtered. The security personnel began to move around it and seemed to be trying to figure out the message. As Tamin slipped out into the docking bay and passed them, they had engaged in a rather loud disagreement about the meaning and urgency of the message. One of the security members kept urging the other two to contact main operations to double check. She was summarily ignored, something about the other two being afraid of looking bad for not getting their orders the first time. As Tamin slipped out the door he could hear the security woman finally tap her comm badge requesting the information be repeated, they were all surprsied by the reply. =^=We sent nothing down. I'll have Engineering check it out, it must be malfunctioning.=^= Tamin avoided snicking as he left the docking bay, and turned on his personal holographic emitter. A human male's face flickered over his own and approximated the skin colour and build all over. He walked into the turbolift with ease. "Prominade," stated Tamin as the doors closed. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, First Officers Office, FO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant (SG) Paul Casely, 1525) Paul walked into his office and sat down behind his desk. When he did, he noticed information was scrolling in regularly at his computer terminal. Paul sighed. Some things were relatively useless to him where he was. There was little he could do about the decay in orbit of a satellite hundreds of light years away. Paul knew that given time he would learn to skim the 'factoids' that didn't really impact him and filter to the important 'bits'. He hoped that he mastered that skill soon. In the meantime, he tried to hit a few of the information files, looking for priority ones, before McLaren arrived. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, FO's Office, ACEO Ensign SG McLaren, 1528) Matthew hesitated before ringing the chime. What was he going to say? That he had a gut feeling that something bad was happening? Didn't seem like very reliable information. He shrugged and rang the chime. (Reply Casely) "Enter!" called out Paul as his door chime went off and McLaren walked in. He motioned to a chair, "Have a seat Mr. McLaren. Can I get you something? "Oh yeh a coffee would be great." Matthew said settling into the chair across from Casely. Paul got an order from the replicator, put it on the table between them and sat back down again, slowly drinking his coffee. "Mr. McLaren, what seems to be on your mind?" asked Paul. "Ok sir, well when the Cardassians came aboard this after noon I immediately felt that they had a hidden agenda, maybe that’s just Cardassians, I don't know. But I tend to trust my instincts so I went with them." Matthew took a sip of coffee and continued. "I watched them closely to see what that agenda might be. I have the ability to focus on things with these," He said motioning to his eyes, "that are usually out of range of normal vision. And I noticed that Bokat seemed to be sizing everyone up, all the senior crew that is. They took special interest in Lieutenant Marta, I don't know why, but I got the feeling that Bokat was ticking off possible threats." Matthew said, hoping he was making sense. "I see... do you have anything concrete to base these 'feelings' on? Any ideas about what we should do about it?" Paul asked. "Sir, they are only feelings but I think they're real. I mean I generally get first impressions of people right, its something iv learned to do over the years, and I really think that they're are a threat or at least have something to hide." Matthew said. He couldn't put into words how strongly he was feeling about it. "Between my visual acuity and my gut instincts, I usually get it right." Then realizing he was repeating himself he tried to focus on the other question. "As for what we could do, well with your permission I could look into the background of the delegation a bit. Find out what they've been involved in, that sort of thing." Matthew suggested. "Or we could just throw them all in the brig." Matthew joked. (Posted by Matt) (Starbase Geneva, FO's Office, FO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant (SG) Paul Casely, 1529) "Enter!" called out Paul as his door chime went off and in walked McLaren. He looked... nervous wasn't quite the word... almost embarrassed. Paul could tell the Ensign was ill at ease. He motioned to a chair, "Have a seat Mr. McLaren. Can I get you something? I'm just having some coffee myself." (Reply McLaren) Paul got an order from the replicator, but it on the table between them and sat back down again, slowly drinking his coffee. ~He's definitely nervous about something.~ "Mr. McLaren, what seems to be on your mind?" asked Paul, trying to seem friendly. (Reply McLaren) "I see... do you have anything concrete to base these 'feelings' on? Any ideas about what we should do about it?" Paul asked. He decided to take this seriously, one never knew what the ensign had 'seen'. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, FO's Office, FO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant (SG) Paul Casely, 1538) Paul listened patiently to the Ensign. In actual fact, he had pretty much farmed out all the research jobs that McLaren was mentioning. Paul smiled, "Actually Ensign, I'm working on that as is Mr. Rogers. At least similar facets. Doctor Mackenzie is dealing with physical items regarding Cardassians and I asked you to deal with technology. I'm trying to cover all the bases by putting people who are strongest in those areas on them. Of course Klars and Chandler are supposed to be investigating the bomb blast earler this afternoon. If you finish your technological study early and don't have other pressing engineering duties feel free to delve more fully into the backgrounds of the delegation." (Reply McLaren) "As for putting them in the brig," Paul chuckled, "I'm not sure as that would send the right diplomatic message. We'll figure it out though. You're not the only one to have a feeling. Supersonic peepers aren't always necessary for that." Paul hoped that the Ensign wouldn't take offense at his little jest, but he knew that the senior staff felt some ill-ease at the whole procedure. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, The Olde Stone, FO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant (SG) Paul Casely, 1803) Paul had skipped out of main operations to grab himself from dinner. Thinking that he might work out a bit on the holodeck before turning in and starting the whole procedure over again. Tomorrow was the day he was to continue Roger's 'command school' training. It had been going well. Brian was a willing and able candidate. Paul believed he had great potential and had high hopes for him in the future. ~HA, maybe if I ever get my own ship, I'll have a pre-trained First Officer, wouldn't that be a kick?~ thought Paul chuckling as he ate his Olde Dubh stew. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Library, COUNS/A3O, Ensign {SG} Brian Rogers, 1806) Brian could barely look at another file on Cardassians has he finally closed the last file the computer had brought up. His eyes were tired and he was sick of reading about the Cardassians. He had written all information down on his PADD, and would later have to write it down into a briefing-type format so he could present to Lt. Casely later. He shook his head, stood up, and walked out. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (Starbase Geneva, Personal Quarters, COUNS/A3O, Ensign {SG} Brian Rogers, 1813) Brian walked into his quarters and kicked off his boots. ~I have to burn the midnight oil tonight. I better get some sleep now.~ He tossed the PADD onto his sofa and jumped onto his bed. "Computer, wake me up at 0015," and Brian fell asleep has the computer gave a reply. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (Starbase Geneva, Hallway to Personal Quarters, FO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant (SG) Paul Casely, 1923) Finally, Paul had gotten off duty. This had been an extremely grueling day. All he could think about was kicking off his shoes, doing some reading and turning in early. Paul considered some of the classics that were on his reading diet. Machiavelli perhaps? Perhaps some Macbeth? There was always Frederick the Great or Garth of Izar. Paul knew that morning would come soon enough and a senior staff meeting would have to be held to pull together the research from the various individuals on the senior staff on the Cardassians. The ideas and findings of the staff would help steer the tone of negotiations with the Cardassian delegation. Paul ruminated about Madon. She seemed a formidable woman, not exactly what he was expecting from a rather male dominated society. He knew discussing politics with her was going to be more than interesting. Paul rounded the corridor and began to approach his quarters and glanced over to the approximate area he knew Captain Arianna's were in. He chuckled when he thought about hearing the Klingon Opera from Captain Arianna’s quarters when he first came on the station. Since the soundproofing problem had been corrected, the area was quiet… as it should be and Paul hadn't been assaulted by the caterwauling that the Klingon's enjoyed in their music. He chuckled again, taste was, after all, subjective, as he personally preferred Puccini. Paul knew that her quarters, much like his, had barely been used recently due to the business of the station. Paul stood in front of his door and watched as it slid open. He began to walk in when suddenly, he stopped. ~Strange, that sounded like a beep. What could that have been?~ Paul took a step back out of the doorway and his door began to slide shut. He had just started to reach for his comm badge when it happened. The sound was akin to an erupting volcano. Paul stood stunned and in awe as the door to his quarters was propelled towards him, slamming him against the wall across from the entry portal. It was then, that Paul noticed the blast of heat that accompanied sound, as a personal hell descended into his life. Covered with soot, and a very large door, Paul grimaced in pain. He bet that a few ribs were busted, possibly he had some internal damage too. He also noticed that it was beginning to be more and more difficult to stay conscious. The alert klaxons had already sounded as the hallway grew red with lights and things seemed to be moving in slow motion. Soon, it was no longer possible to stay conscious; a mixture of shock and pain overcame Paul and blackness enveloped him. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Personal Quarters, COUNS/A3O, Ensign {SG} Brian Rogers, 1924) Brian was peacefully sleeping when a distant (yet still loud) explosion woke him up. "Computer... did you change the standard alarm awaking?" [Negative.] "Then what is that explosion?" [Since that noise was not made by the computer or a holodeck, it is assumed it was an actual explosion.] Soon, the sounds and lights of a red alert started. Brian jumped up and got on his boots. When he was done, he ran out. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (Starbase Geneva, Corridor, COUNS/A3O, Ensign {SG} Brian Rogers, 1926) Brian walked with a brisk pace. He hoped it would be some new sort of Andorian Pop Music that had explosions, and some crewman had played it too loud, but they were at war and... which made Brian release he had forgotten his phaser. He shook his head. ~Half to remember next time.~ Has Brian walked closer, the smell of soot filled his nose. Brian's gut turned in horror has he rounded a corner and saw that the doors to somebody's quarters had been blown off. He then saw that the door was laying the opposite wall, with somebody's legs sticking out under it. Brian ran to the door and grabbed with both hands and tried to lift the door. It was extremely heavy, but Brian's hours in the Academy gym lifting weights paid off has he barely had enough strength to lift it off... then saw it was Paul. "Oh god... Paul can you hear me?" Brian said, but it was in vain, Lt. Casely was knocked out... or dead. Brian tapped his comm badge quickly. "Rogers to Sickbay, we have a medical emergency. There is a wounded crewmember. Sent a team right away!" (reply medical) Brian looked around and hoped the would arrive soon, but he would have to make sure Paul would survive. He put two fingers to Lt. Casely's neck an felt the blood moving. ~Oh goodness he's still alive.~ If it had been a different situation, Brian might have been proud of himself for remembering his 'Early Medical Techniques' from the Academy, but now all he was worried about was the well being of Lt. Casely. He looked back into his quarters and saw that everything was ripped apart. ~Well, you don't have to be the Chief of Security to see that a bomb went off.~ Brian tapped his comm badge again. "Ensign Rogers to security, I'm sure the computer alerted you, but some sort of explosion device went off. Please come right away," (reply security) When Brian was done with the security officers, he just stood and waited for somebody else to arrive. (Posted by Kevin Schram) [END COMPILE]
