Casely, or Paul rather, when suddenly his comm badge went off and Paul exclaimed loudly, "OH FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE!" Brian wondered what was going on. =^=Excuse me Sir, this is Petty Officer Aboz here. I have Ensign Klars here. Apparently he brought outside alcohol into one of the station's bars with your permission?=^= said a female voice, probably a security crewman ~ A Counselor with a drug problem and a Tactical Assistant with a drinking problem, what a great crew!~ Brain thought to himself. Paul spoke slowly, "No... no I did not. Please ensure that he can hear this Mr. Aboz. At no point did I ever tell Mr. Klars that he could break station rules for any reason." Brian pondered, ~What conversation went down where Klars thought he had gotten a free pass to break rules. Maybe it has to do with that Benford fellow and Klars' undercover operation.~ =^=Yes Sir. He has been rather short with me about this I'm afraid. I know its a misdemeanours. I would have just reminded him of the rules, if he hadn't have lied to me first and then been rather... uppity... with me, Sir. I know he outranks me but...=^= said Petty Officer Aboz. "...but he still has absolutely no right to treat any security member... any crew member... doing their job in less than a respectful fashion. He should know that. The only people I will have on my Security teams are those people who follow orders, follow station rules and lead by example. Leading by example includes being respectful to those who are doing their jobs in a proper fashion. You are absolutely right Mr. Aboz." Paul said in a stern manner. Brian thought about how tough Paul's job must be. He had to scold an admiral for his teenage-like behaviour, take a generally inexperienced crew into a combat situation, deal with a counselor who has a drug problem, investigate this strange planet, deal with Benford who is some sort of criminal, and deal with a security officer who thinks he is some sort of Starfleet Secret Intelligence Agent (all in the last 24 hours too, mind you), all while the captain was off briefing the legions of admirals and ambassadors that this unknown planet wasn't some sort of secret Borg weapon. Brian had a new respect for the lieutenant. After Paul was finished giving his orders to the security crewman, he looked at Brian. "I'm sorry about that....its been one of those days." Brian put on his counselor hat and started to talk. "Well, sir, just think that your making a difference here. This mostly inexperienced crew, most of us just off the runabout from the Academy, are all getting direct guidance from you. In effect, sir, you are a role model to all of us and you are grooming the next generation of Starfleet, sir." (Posted by Kevin Schram) Mission: Go Fourth, Shadowy Future, Day 2 Stardate: 2407.01.02 (Starbase Geneva, Medical Center, COUNS Ensign (JG) Brian Rogers, 0812) Brian watched has Kaitlyn got up from her chair and walked away. Brian put his head in his hands and breathed out slowly. This would be tough. He felt like he didn't even need Cordazine, but he knew that later the cravings would come back. This probably was the best course of action. Kaitlyn returned soon. "This won't hurt a bit," She said has she injected him. The first thing Brian noticed is that his next breath made his lungs feel never ending, has if he kept breathing in, his lungs would just keep getting bigger and bigger. Brian used to love that feeling, but now he hated it. "The dose I just gave you was 25cc's. It's a little bit less than what you were giving yourself, but enough so your body will respond properly." "Yes, Doctor. Thank you very much," Brian said quickly, before standing up. He wanted to get out of here and the safety of his quarters before the buzz effect started. "All right, that should do it until your next visit," Kaitlyn said. ~Come on, lemme outta here!~ Brian thought has he gave a quick nod to Kaitlyn and scurried out of the medical center. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (Starbase Geneva-Main Ops-CMO- Admiral Gr'iann -0815) When the alert sounded from the explosion Gr'iann was almost happy for the diversion. He had not had a good nights sleep. Every time he closed his eyes he could see Rogers and Kaitlyn together, laughing. It was disturbing to him that the man he thought he could trust, Lt. Casely, seemed to be in on the whole joke. It just didn't seemed... logical. Perhaps Casely was talking to them, and telling them to not to make fun of the old Caitian. He just wasn't sure. His mind was a jumble. He realized that "The Season" was upon him more strongly now than ever before. After seeing Kaitlyn's medical record he could see how it was that he caught her scent. The mix between her attraction to Rogers, giving off those pheromones, and it being her own "season", as humans have them, it set of his own biological clock. And it was set off as if it were a time bomb. That was the image he woke to as he awoke to the alarm of the bomb. He rushed into main medical to see that Kaitlyn had already been there and was already working. He looked at her back, as she worked diligently. His mood softened at the sight of her, but he steeled himself against that, and got to work. It wasn't long before he was done with his work and left the clean-up to go to his office. He noticed a priority alert on his computer screen, from the EMH. Pulling up the message his eyes narrowed as he read the history of Rogers late night visit to medical, and his attempt to acquire a drug for an unnamed patient. Then there was his sudden outburst. With a little digging he saw that Casely had developed a training program for Rogers... in command? He could feel the hairs rise up his back. Then he looked up again to see that Rogers had come in and was talking with Kaitlyn. He could see the familiarity that they had gotten, through their body language. Little touches here, a look and brush of the hair there. Again his eyes narrowed as he watched them. She gave him an injection, and Gr'iann's mind began to work out what it was they had just done. Again he turned his attention to the computer and began to dig. It didn't take long until he discovered what had just occurred. He looked up to watch Rogers leave. His attention was so intent on Rogers he hadn't noticed Kaitlyn's approach. "Here's the vitals on the patients as of this morning" she said offering him the PADDS. "McLaren and Marta both seem to be doing well. I would recommend that McLaren be able to leave soon. His head injury is healing without infection....and he's restless." Gr'iann looked up into the smiling face, but behind the eyes he could see something hiding. He didn't even look at the PADDs and tossed them onto his desk. He looked at the lovely woman in front of him, his ears twitching. "So... do you want to tell mme what just happened out therre, with Ensign Rrogerrs?" (posted by Al Muir) (Starbase Geneva-Medical Center-ACMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-0817) Her smile faded as she watched Admiral Gr'iann toss the reports aside, as if he didn't care. She knew something was bothering him and she wasn't sure what it was. "So... do you want to tell mme what just happened out therre, with Ensign Rrogerrs?" Great. Just what she hoped he wouldn't ask. ~What do I tell him?~ Since he was an Admiral, he would just be able to find the truth out anyways. Plus he was the chief medical officer, so he would be bound to know eventually. Kaitlyn had suggested to Paul the night before that they try and keep this between themselves, as not to let the entire starbase know. But like he had mentioned, people would have to know in order to correct the problem. It would have been different if Gr'iann wasn't the CMO, because then he would never had have to know. Kaitlyn was just trying to help preserve as much of Ensign Rogers' reputation as possible. Deciding to fight fire with fire, Kaitlyn replied, "Only if you want to tell me why it is you were looking through my medical file." <> At his roundabout reply, she went ahead and told him. "Look, last night there was a situation." Having Gr'iann's full attention, she went on to tell him what had happened and why Casely had called her into the security center. After explaining the process, she finished with what just happened. "I then gave Ensign Rogers a 25cc shot of cordazine as a low dose to taper him off the drug, and that's what happened in the office." She could almost hear the cheering that must have been going through the back of his head. <> "As an Admiral and the CMO, you have access to these things and need to know what's going on in your sickbay, correct?" At the nod of his head, she continued, "So, I'm just letting you know what's been happening." <> Since they were in his office, she felt the need to speak freely. "Now that you know the situation with Ensign Rogers, I believe there is a little matter between us that needs some clearing up." She didn't mean to be harsh on him, and she still wanted to remain friends, but she wanted to know what he thought he was doing by snooping through her medical records. "Back to my original question......why were you looking through my medical records?" (Posted by: Stacey) (Starbase Geneva-Main Ops-CMO- Admiral Gr'iann -0818) Gr'iann saw the look that Kaitlyn shot back at him, but he stood his ground. There was some medical operation going on behind his back and he needed to be aware of it. As the senior medical staff member, it would be a bad thing if he didn't know what was going on in his own hospital. "Only if you want to tell me why it is you were looking through my medical file," Kaitlyn shot back. "Firrst of all," Gr'iann sat upright, but making sure he stayed seated, "when it commes to the rrunning of this facility, I do not answerr to you, you answerr to mme. We can talk about ourr situation once you've explained what's going on herre." He could tell she wasn't happy about his response, and perhaps he was a bit shorter with her than he had to be, but he wanted answers, not more questions. After a bit of a hesitation she went through the events of last night. As she explained what happened in security Gr'iann could feel himself relax. It was a perfectly inocent meeting, well, not perfectily innocent, but not what he had thought. ~Damn raging hormones.~ She went on to explain that she had just given Rogers his first treatment. Relieved as he was, he tried to keep his demeanor steady, but he couldn't help but get that hopeful feeling in the back of his head. "I mmust say that I just don't like being kept frromm the immporrtant inforrmmation." "As an Admiral and the CMO, you have access to these things and need to know what's going on in your sickbay, correct?" At the nod of his head, she continued, "So, I'm just letting you know what's been happening." "Well," he said, "that cerrtainly explains a lot. I underrstand yourr desirre to keep this... underr yourr skull cover... but I'd apprreciate being kept apprrised of any mmedical situation that occurrs." Then he could see the dark clouds rolling through her eyes as she spoke again. "Now that you know the situation with Ensign Rogers, I believe there is a little matter between us that needs some clearing up." "Back to my original question......why were you looking through my medical records?" This time Gr'iann did stand up. He came around the desk to stand beside Kaitlyn. He was never sure how well humans took information about their reproductive system. "Please," Gr'iann motioned to the chair, "sit. This takes a bit of explaining. I was looking forr the answerr to mmy ... inapprroprriate behaviorr lately. This is a little embarradding for a Caitian mmy age, but it appearrs that I amm going thrrough the "Season."" He could see that she didn't understand so he went on. "The Season is the rreprroductive cycle of mmy species. It usually occurrs once a yearr, and is norrmmally set off in a mmale by the femmales season. The mmale catches the scent of herr season, and the pherommones that are given off for attrracting a mmale, and rreason and logic arre cast aside forr the passion of the season." (reply Mackenzie, if you want) "So the question that camme to mmy mmind was what set of mmy season, and why you. No offense, Kaitlyn, you arre a lovely womman, and I would be prroud to mmate with you. The rreason I was looking in yourr mmedical file was to see the occurrance of yourr mmonthly season. As I thought, you are in yourr season now." He could see her get a little embarrassed by his revelation, but he had to finish his ecplaination. "Well, when I saw you at the parrty, you werre with Counselorr Rrogerrs, and well, you mmust have been quite attrracted to himm, forryou werre giving off pherrommones in a larrge quantity. I picked the scent up and mmy body chemmistry connected with yourrs. Unforrtunately, now, I have a physical need to mmate with you. I'mm afrraid that it has immpairred mmy judgemment sommewhat." He looked into herr eyes, and was sincere. "I appologize forr any discommforrt that Immay have caused you, or any emmbarrassment. The emmbarrassment is really mmine. I believe that theese feelings arre so strrong this time because this is mmy final season. I believe your humman expression is menopause. Mmy body and subconscious mmind is desperrate to mmate and prrocrreate." He stopped for a moment, looking at his feet. Then he looked up at her again. "I wonder, arre you interrested in mmating with mme?" (posted by Al Muir) (Starbase Geneva-Medical Center-ACMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-0819) ~Ok, so I deserve that slapdown,~ she thought as the Admiral took up a tone with her. But it finally came down to the answer she had been wanting to know for what felt like an eternity. "Please," Gr'iann motioned to the chair, "sit." Kaitlyn slowly sat down, not taking her eyes off of him. "This takes a bit of explaining. I was looking forr the answerr to mmy ... inapprroprriate behaviorr lately. This is a little embarradding for a Caitian mmy age, but it appearrs that I amm going thrrough the "Season."" At the reference of the "season," Kaitlyn furrowed her brow. "The Season is the rreprroductive cycle of mmy species. It usually occurrs once a yearr, and is norrmmally set off in a mmale by the femmales season. The mmale catches the scent of herr season, and the pherommones that are given off for attrracting a mmale, and rreason and logic arre cast aside forr the passion of the season." ~Ok....so like Vulcans, it's his mating time.~ It took her a second before it hit her like a starship hitting an asteroid. She only hoped that this would clear up the tense situation that had been presenting itself over the past couple of days. "So the question that camme to mmy mmind was what set of mmy season, and why you. No offense, Kaitlyn, you arre a lovely womman, and I would be prroud to mmate with you. The rreason I was looking in yourr mmedical file was to see the occurrance of yourr mmonthly season. As I thought, you are in yourr season now." ~Oh...my.....~ She could have died. Right then and there she could have died of nothing other than embarrassment. For a moment, she looked away as her face turned a shade of pink, then tried to resume her professional appearance once more. ~Who says guys are never interested in having to go to the store to purchase feminine napkins?~ After that thought, she then thought, ~Do I always have a smart remark for these types of situations?~ "Well, when I saw you at the parrty, you werre with Counselorr Rrogerrs, and well, you mmust have been quite attrracted to himm, forryou werre giving off pherrommones in a larrge quantity. I picked the scent up and mmy body chemmistry connected with yourrs. Unforrtunately, now, I have a physical need to mmate with you. I'mm afrraid that it has immpairred mmy judgemment sommewhat." Nodding her head, she understood from a medical point of view. "I think I understand what you're trying to tell me." She wasn't exactly sure of what she should or shouldn't say, so she let Gr'iann do most of the talking. "I appologize forr any discommforrt that Immay have caused you, or any emmbarrassment. The emmbarrassment is really mmine. I believe that theese feelings arre so strrong this time because this is mmy final season. I believe your humman expression is menopause. Mmy body and subconscious mmind is desperrate to mmate and prrocrreate." She felt bad for him, she really did. What was happening to his body was only a cultural trait and that couldn't be ignored. She felt bad for him having been embarrassed, but she had also been embarrassed a number of times as well. She watched as he suddenly looked down at his feet, as though her were debating something in his mind. He then looked up at her, meeting her eyes, and said, "I wonder, arre you interrested in mmating with mme?" Being caught extremely off guard, her eyes shot wide open. She didn't want to embarrass him further by running out of the room like she wanted to, so she sat for a silent moment considering her response. She could obviously tell that he was also in a situation of uncomfortable silence since he had asked the question. It felt like minutes had passed before she started to reply. When she replied, her voice cracked at first. "I think...." Clearing her throat, she tried again. "I think ....that I will at least consider your proposal for now." She bit her lower lip and nodded her head just before standing up. ~Whoa,~ she thought as she stood up. Since that statement, it felt like a ton of bricks had hit her. She would definitely need to speak to a counselor about this situation. Only she wouldn't name names. He had already been embarrassed enough for one...."season." "And just....how long is it? I mean, how long do I have before ...your time is up?" At the precise moment, she wasn't even close to making his request a serious thought. <> "Ok...I'll uh, think about it and give you my answer then." Walking out on unsteady legs, she went back into her office and let out a huge breath. ~What about marriage? Children? He said he wanted to procreate!!!! What are you doing?!?!?!~ She felt like ripping her hair out over this. As if she didn't have a distraction from her duties now, this would never go down at all. She let out a small groan as she sat in her chair. Right then her legs surely didn't feel like they had the strength to stand a moment longer. ~At least that wasn't announced on the bridge of the Mithrandir.....or the fact that it's my...."season",~ she thought as she put her head in her hands. (Posted by: Stacey) (Starbase Geneva, Corridor, COUNS Ensign (JG) Brian Rogers, 0820) Brian was walking fast down the corridor to his quarters. He knew he would start to feel different soon. For the safety of his reputation and everybody around him. Suddenly, he felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned around and saw a Petty Officer standing there. "Excuse me, sir. Are you Ensign Rogers, the new counselor?" The man asked. The man, or boy rather was only 18. He got away with it because the non-commission Starfleet Schools, especially Engineering got their students graduated in 6 months, has apposed to years under Starfleet Academy. "Yes, I am. If you please request an appointment with the computer, it will leave a message at the Counselor's office and-...." Brian said has he started to notice the funnier qualities of the Petty Officer's noise. "Well, I have a problem. Someone has been hurting me. Not physically, but my crewmates are calling me names." The Petty Officer said. "Well, assault is a crime. I suggest you take it up with Lt. Casely, or I believe you are Ensign Klars' type! Then again, Lt. Casely might even get you training in a position you'll never use, because you are a loooser!" Brian said, laughing. "A loser? That’s not nice!" The petty officer said. "Tough pal! Stop wasting my time you Academy drop out!" Brian said in a loud office. Several crewmembers passing by heard them. The petty officer had an upset look on his face has he walked away. Brian laughed and ran away to his quarters. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (Starbase Geneva-Medical Center-CMO- Admiral Gr'iann -0822) Gr'iann's question must have caught Kaitlyn more off guard than the Admiral expected. She didn't answer right away. ~Did that mean she was actually considering my proposal.~ After an interminable wait she looked up at him. "I think ....that I will at least consider your proposal for now," she told him. Gr'iann's eyes shot open and his ears turned towards her, his tail almost stood straight up. She was considering it. It was more than he dared hope. "And just....how long is it?" she asked. Gr'iann cocked an eyebrow wondering what she meant. Howw long was what? "I mean, how long do I have before ...your time is up?" Gr'iann smiled, understnading her question now. "It depends. The femmale cycle lasts about a mmonth. But usually the effects dimminish afterr mmating. By then the couple are sealed." "Ok," she sounded even less confident, "I'll uh, think about it and give you my answer then." Then she turned and walked out of the office. Gr'iann purred appreciatively, as he watched her walk away. He would enjoy mating with her. She still wasn't certain, but he was hoping that he could convince her. He wasn't looking for a permanent relationship, he knew how flighty most humans were about that kind of thing. But he wouldn't mind spending the rest of his life with Kaitlyn. He leaned back against his desk and smiled, dreamily. A glimmer of hope, and she was quite understanding. With renewed hope he went back to his desk and looked at the PADDs Kaitlyn had given him. Looking them over, he found himself agreeing with her recomendations on Mr. McLaren. He got up and went over to the man's bed. "Mmrr. MmcLarren, how arre you feeling this mmorrning?" he asked. (reply McLaren) "Well, everrything looks good herre, and we can use this bed forr those who arre still sick, so I'mm sending you on yourr way." (reply McLaren) Then Gr'iann stopped and looked at him sternly. "Howeverr, you arre to rreporrt in dailly forr a scan, forr the next week. The firrst one you mmiss, I will have you brrought back herre, do you underrstand mme, Ensign?" (reply McLaren) Gr'iann nodded and smiled, "Then get out of herre, and be well." With that, he put the final notes on the PADD and turned, leaving Mclaren to get dressed. (posted by Al Muir) (Starbase Geneva, Personal Quarters, COUNS Ensign (JG) Brian Rogers, 0823) Brian ran in. "Computer, seal my door to everybody except hot girls!" Brian said in a laughing manner has he jumped on to his sofa. [Door sealed to all except females. Be advised, any above your current rank can unlock the door.] "Great. Computer, play Klingon Opera. I like Aktuh and Melota," Brian said has the loud music began playing. "Louder!" Brian shouted. The computer increased it. "LOUDER! INCREASE SOUND TO 150 DECIBELS!" Brian screamed. [Warning, sound over 130 decibels can cause damage to Human ears,] the computer reported. "DO IT!" Brian screamed, and with that the horrible music began to play at an extremely loud volume. Soon, he fell asleep. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (Starbase Geneva, FO's Office, ATAC Ensign Dorrin Klars, 0830) "Well Ensign, are you going to stand there or are you going to report in the way you're supposed to? Have you forgotten your Academy training already?" asked Paul sternly. Without a word Dorrin came in and sat down. "Mr. Klars, I don't know what you thought you were doing last night, but I'm a little bit less than impressed. You have a temper and a tendency to resort to snap judgments. I'm also beginning to get the feeling that you don't know your place," stated Paul directly. ~He just realized that?~ However he didn't voice his opinion, he just let the First officer keep talking. You are an Ensign, junior grade. I have no difficulty maintaining a friendly relationship with crewmates at appropriate times, but you need to realise when those times are. You have to learn to follow protocols, rules and proper procedure. Otherwise we will have to redefine your place. Am I understood?" asked Paul. "Extremely," Dorrin responded stiffly, trying to control his growing rage. For now, you are off anything have to do with Mr. Benford. When things blow over, I'll reassess, but for now some distance will be needed. I want you to look into the bombing this morning. Apparently the cafe had insurance with a Ferengi consortium. You'll need to question Mr. Ronsworth and his employees. It seems like the bomb might have been an inside job. I'm waiting for a communication from Ferengenar about who paid for the policy. Work with some other members of the security team. Report back to me when you have some tangible information," said Paul. For a second Dorrin thought he would lose it, but he kept his face a mask and merely said, "yes sir." He got up and walked out of the room, he tapped his combadge and said, " ATAC ensign Dorrin Klars to security. Please send two security personnel who can help me investigate the bombing committed in the promenade, please have them meet me in the Medical Centre." (Posted by Dan Black) (Starbase Geneva, Medical Centre, ACEO, Ensign JG McLaren, 0835) Matthew was still lying in the bed looking up at the ceiling when the admiral walked up to his bed. He seemed rather chirpy compared to how he'd been when he'd come in earlier. "Well, everything looks good herre, and we can use this bed forr those who arre still sick, so I'mm sending you on yourr way." He said. Matthew sat up and looked at the admiral. "That’s great. "Howeverr, you arre to rreporrt in dailly forr a scan, forr the next week. The firrst one you mmiss, I will have you brrought back herre, do you underrstand mme, Ensign?" "Yes sir." Matthew said. (Posted by McLaren) (Starbase Geneva, Medical Centre, ATAC Ensign Dorrin Klars, 0845) With that Dorrin quickly walked to the medical centre, and saw that he arrived the same time as the security personnel. He nodded to them and said, "in case you don't know I am ATAC ensign Dorrin Klars, and you are?" One of them responded "sir this is Petty officer Max Blath and I am Petty officer Leonard Neord" Dorrin nodded "OK, we are investigating a bombing that happened earlier today, in the promenade, I am about to question the owner Hatri Ronsworth, listen and see what you can pick up." "Well, that is rather inconvenient, we will have to work fast, lets go." With that Dorrin headed to Hatri Ronsworth. "Mr. Ronsworth," Dorrin began pleasantly, "I believe that the buisness of the Promenade was inconveinced today, correct. An explosion I believe, please tell me what happened, and please more specifically than something blew up." (reply Ronsworth) "Thank you, now why is it that you have an insurance policy with a company on the Ferengi homeworld, oh and please no evasion, I have all the time in the universe." (posted by Dan Black) (Starbase Geneva, Medical Centre, Hatri Ronsworth, 0846) Hatri was just lying in his comfortable bed in the recovery ward of the Medical Centre, when a man walked up to him. The man was a Starfleet Security officer. He began to speak. "Mr. Ronsworth, I believe that the business of the Promenade was inconvenienced today, correct. An explosion I believe, please tell me what happened, and please more specifically than something blew up." Hatri stared at the officer in front of him blankly for a moment. "An inconvenience. I was almost killed, in front of my own store and you call it an inconvenience. I was about five minutes late for work and my staff was waiting outside the store, I go to turn the lock to open the door and boom the whole front facade of my lease, up in smoke." "Thank you, now why is it that you have an insurance policy with a company on the Ferengi home world, oh and please no evasion, I have all the time in the universe." "I'm sure that you do," again Hatri looked at the officer in a vacant gaze, "You're crazy, you think I bombed my store." He slapped the back of his hand, "Well how do you like that. I'm the one sitting in an infirmary bed and you think I'm the one that bombed my store. You know it is very like you Federation types to not trust Cardassians." Hatri paused to wait for a reply from the officer. This man was almost Vulcan in his conviction, his face gave no emotion. His mouth gave no reply. Hatri continued. "Also, I know you're lying to try to get me to confess, which by the way is not entirely legal. I took out no such insurance policy. Why should I need insurance if I am shop keeper on a Federation Starbase? You people are my insurance. My shop is repaired and maintained by Starfleet engineers for free!" While Dorrin didn't show it he was enjoying himself, this was where he excelled, and unless he was wrong, he was excelling right now. Casely say over the comm system. ~How the heck long have I been out?~ she thought then realized that the only way to get that answer was to open her eyes and ask someone. Slowly opening her eyes to minimize the pain behind them, she stared up at the ceiling for a few moments before starting the next step; sitting up. As she sat up, everything started to spin from the exertion, which, made her stomach churn and as it did, it began to relieve itself whether she wanted to or not. As she started to open her eyes and see what she had just deposited, there was what use to be white shoes with legs standing what seemed like in the middle of a food fight. She followed up to eventually looking into the face of a Nurse. The Nurse did not have a very happy, friendly face at that moment as she also looked up from the mess to look at Kass. The Nurse crossed her arms and started tapping her foot and looked at Kass with a disgusted look. "I see that you are awake now, Counselor." The Nurse said. "I,, uh,, yes,, am awake." Kass replied knowing that she turned every shade of red there was, "Uh I am sorry, Nurse ....?" "I am Nurse Gertrud" Gertrud replied with a 'you should be ashamed of yourself and you met me before' kind of attitude. "Ah Nurse Gertrud, I am sorry I did not remember your name. Will you accept my apology for this mess?" Kass asked as she turned to drop her legs over the side of the bed. She was slowly gaining her strength back. Gertrud grunted at what Kass said before replying to her. "I will inform the Doctors you are awake." At that Gertrud walked off. Kass was about to get up and head for the meeting when she realized that she was not in her uniform, but, in a hospital gown. Seeing an Orderly walking by, she stopped him to ask him to acquire her a uniform. Then she decided to try her legs to see if she still had control over them. As she slide off the bed and made contact with the floor, she realized something a moment too late. She stepped right into the mess that she had just deposited, which, was slippery and she successfully managed to flop right down into it with her feet flying out from under her. Kass had just succeeded in turning a minor embarrassment into a rip roaring major engagement at Carnegie hall. To top it off, the hospital gown had a split down the back, as they all do, which opened as she fell and did not cover her. Kass, thoroughly embarrassed now, put her even redder face into her hands against her knees as she brought them up. What else could go wrong this day, Kass had begun to think to herself in despair. (posted by Frank) (Starbase Geneva-Medical Center-ACMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-0924) Still not being able to keep her mind focused on her work, Kaitlyn decided it was time to get out of the office for awhile. She liked it in there since it gave her some privacy to think, but it also made her nervous knowing Gr'iann was right outside. ~Why in the world did I say I'd think about it?.....Maybe I really am?~ Getting tired of the same thoughts passing through her mind, she stood up and walked out of her office. She needed some fresh air and something more to do than write reports. Glancing at the chronometer, it was still a little too early for rounds to be started, but Kaitlyn was in a hurry to do something, anything, and decided it wouldn't hurt to start early. Just as she started to begin, she heard Casely's voice through the comm. "Lieutenant Casely to members of the Senior Staff. She stopped short when she realized someone.....Marta.....was on the floor trying to stand up, only to have her backside revealed to the entire medical bay. "Um, Ensign Marta is otherwise preoccupied at the moment. She should be back on her feet by the end of the shift hopefully." She finished her last sentence quickly as to hurry up and go over to Marta. Kneeling beside her yet avoiding the mess, Kaitlyn said, "You were trying to get up, weren't you?" <> At Marta's reply, Kaitlyn said, "C'mon, lets get you into one of the showers and I'll have a fresh uniform waiting for you when you come out." She hoped Gr'iann hadn't yet made his way over to them. From Kaitlyn's point of view, it wasn't so bad since they were both females, but she could see herself in that position. She would hope that it wouldn't be a male, Gr'iann persay, that would discover her like that. ~He'd have way too much fun,~ she thought. Shaking her head, she concentrated on getting Marta into the showers. Once there, she said, "Alright, if you think you'll be ok by yourself, I'll go ahead and get your uniform ready." <> At her reply, Kaitlyn went into the other room and came back with a fresh uniform. She set it on the chair next to the shower, and then she herself took a seat somewhat away from the shower as to give Marta privacy, but she stayed in case she might need help. Brian poured a cup full and took a long swig, then grabbed a PADD from yesterday and walked out (Posted by Kevin Schram) (Starbase Geneva, FO's Office, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 0925) Paul had just finished sending out his instructions and receiving back word from Mr. Rogers and Mr. Klars. Both had accepted his commands, this time. Still, something about Klars was troubling him. The Ensign didn't seem to understand his place onboard the station. He didn’t seem to know how to accept commands or to accept orders, he didn't even report into Paul's office properly. This was troubling, to say the least. Paul had assumed that all cadets graduating from the Academy would come knowing how to respect rank and protocol, it never occurred to him that one that didn't understand the chain of command could pass through. ~These are desperate times I suppose.~ Paul thought to himself uneasily. He considered this for a moment and then started to bring up some service records in the Marine Corps. He read through several of them and then settled on one. He touched his intercom button. "Excuse me, could I please meet with Lieutenant Major Thrall. If he could come to the First Officer's Office I'd appreciate it. Lieutenant Casely out," stated Paul. The Lieutenant Major technically outranked him, but in terms of running the station, Paul technically outranked the Lieutenant Major. This was always sticky, just best to be considerate and polite to everyone. Then, Ensign Rogers arrived in the FO's office. "Sir, here is the translations," Brian said handing Paul a PADD. He started to look it over. Admiral Gr'iann and Ensign Rogers had done well. This would be useful later. "Good work Ensign. Here is what I need from you now. I need one specific PADD with as many references to popular culture and to slang vocabulary for the 21st Century as possible. Load a designated PADD up and talk to someone in Engineering to get a verbal acuity chip put in, so it can 'hear' the words and give a list of definitions instantly. Looks like you're going to be my language man when I go to the surface," said Paul calmly. The key, he felt, to this one was giving Rogers as much to do as possible. Keep his mind off his other problems and give him something important to focus on. Brian nodded and then spoke just so Lt. Casely could hear. "Also, sir. I got my first low- dose of Cordazine from Dr. Mackenzie today, sir. Besides from a headache I feel fine. I haven't had any craving since our training this morning, sir." Brian said and then stood at attention next to Casely. "That's good Mr. Rogers. It is just the two of us here for now, although I do have another appointment soon. Continue your treatments, and be careful what you say to potential patients. I had a rather upset Petty Officer from Engineering contact me... a Petty Officer Jason Miller I believe. Just a young fellow. Apparently he tried to talk to you and you said some rather unkind things. I am guessing you had just had your treatment at that point. From now on, I want you to stay in the Medical Center in one of the isolation booths after getting the treatment, until the effects fade. I also want you to go and talk to Mr. Miller. I believe you owe him an apology and a sympathetic ear. You might want to try and figure out a way to explain yourself. Counsellors who aren't trusted by the crew have very little usefulness. Now, you'd better get going, you have a lot of work to do and not much time to do it in," said Paul impassively. He knew that Rogers probably hadn't meant it, but his job was the welfare and well being of ALL the crew. He couldn't let Rogers' problem result in problems in other areas of the station. She was grateful that a woman was the one coming to her aid and not some male wanting to check her out. Most males would only do that if they could catch a quick feel or sight something they would not normally see. They also tried to help sometimes just to make the woman feel lower than she already felt, so, she was very happy that Kaitlyn was there. "You were trying to get up, weren't you?" No sooner did it close completely when the door chime went off. "Come on in," said Paul aloud. Paul watched as a marine Lieutenant Major walked in. The Andorian seemed fairly typical. Paul had always thought that the Marine Corps suited the Andorians. "Thank you for coming up so quickly Lieutenant Major, I appreciate this. I'm Paul Casely, currently I'm the Acting First Officer of the station. Things have been a bit... busy... as of late as I'm sure you realise," said Paul rising and putting out his hand. "Lieutenant Major, I'm sorry to bother you this afternoon, but I have a little problem that may need a marine's sense of... order." (Reply Thrall) Paul spun his computer around, showing the biographical information of Ensign Dorrin Klars. "This, Sir, is my current ATAC. He is... an interesting person. Last night he decided to break station rules in order to try and deal with an open case. Then when a security officer, doing her duty, detained him he gave her a very difficult time. He ended up confined to quarters. The entire time I was dealing with the issue, it seemed not to be sinking in, to say the least. He often addresses officers who rank higher than him improperly and seems to have difficulty not just with judgement but with protocols. At the moment Sir, I'm running OPs, in charge of the general staff, in charge of security and tactical... my time is rather... thin. I need help. I don't really understand how he got through Starfleet Academy, but he did so now he's my problem. I need someone who is... well... especially effective in imposing discipline. Any marine is good at it... but your name cropped up as being... well..." Paul trailed off, knowing that the Andorian had gotten the idea. He hoped that Thrall would agree to his request. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, FO's Office, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 0937) "A hard ass. Well, it's true. I will take this man under one condition. Paul was taken aback for a second, and then had to do everything he could from laughing out loud. Even if this Andorian hated him, he couldn't help but like him. "Well, you've certainly cut to the chase, Sir. I suppose I was looking for slightly more genteel language... what was I thinking?" stated Paul chuckling. "May I use your terminal," Thrall asked. He pulled up a file and downloaded onto his PADD. "Please sign this." Paul quickly began to scan the PADD, there was no way he was signing anything without reading it. "It's a temporary transfer of personnel. As you sign this, Klars becomes a marine, temporarily, of course. But his time is up when I say it is. If you need him for other duties, find someone else. Those are my terms." "That's fine Lieutenant Major, don't mistake my desire to read the fine print for a lack of trust towards you. I'm sure beyond the standard contract signed in blood there is nothing untoward within this. I learned long ago, however, never to sign anything without reading it first. Despite my appearance, I seldom pass for an idiot," stated Paul firmly, but with a gleam of mischief in his eye. He knew about Andorians and their typical dry, if not nasty, wit. He had no problem with being on the receiving end, but wondered how the Lieutenant Major would deal with having the tables turned on him. (Reply Thrall) Paul gave a wicked grin and signed the PADD. "I will ask, however, that you try not to blow him up. I would appreciate my officer back at some point in the near future. Try not to mislay any pieces," said Paul looking dead set at the Andorian. Then Thrall stepped into the office as he heard the voice say "Come on in." Casely stood up and approached Thrall, holding out his hand. "Thank you for coming up so quickly Lieutenant Major, I appreciate this. I'm Paul Casely, currently I'm the Acting First Officer of the station. Things have been a bit... busy... as of late as I'm sure you realise." Thrall had never met Casely before, and so he felt the need to give the man the once over. He looked like a good Starfleet officer. Someone who would be tormented by the lives that were lost under his command, but excited for those who were promoted under him. He was probably a fair man, who showed the best traits of Starfleet at all times. Thrall figured he'd make Captain early. He'd get eaten alive in the marines. "Yes, I can understand that," Thrall said, shaking his hand firmly. "Change of command staff can always promise to be a trying time." "Lieutenant Major," Casely began, "I'm sorry to bother you this afternoon, but I have a little problem that may need a marine's sense of... order." Thrall's antennae turned as if they were listening too. "Problems are my specialty. I like to blow them up." He showed Thrall the file on one Ensign Dorrin Klars. Casely proceeded to tell him about the problems he seemed to be having with the ATAC. Thrall was amazed that the man got out of the academy without knowing chain of command. That was like a prerequisite class to... everything. As he listened to Casely's list of complaints he could feel the annoyance build up in himself. Then Casey began to whine about his load. Thrall was less interested in that, but wanted to help with this Ensign. "I need someone who is," Casely paused, " well... especially effective in imposing discipline. Any marine is good at it... but your name cropped up as being... well..." "A hard ass," Thrall said bluntly. Casely looked a little embarrassed. "Well, it's true. I will take this man under one condition. This man is mine, body and soul. I can do whatever I want with him to obtain the results that you want." (reply Casely) "May I use your terminal," Thrall asked. He pulled up a file and downloaded onto his PADD. "Please sign this." (reply Casely) "It's a temporary transfer of personnel. As you sign this, Klars becomes a marine, temporarily, of course. But his time is up when I say it is. If you need him for other duties, find someone else. Those are my terms." (posted by Al Muir) (Starbase Geneva, Engineering, ACEO Ensign JG McLaren, 0939) =^=Lieutenant Casely to members of the Senior Staff. We only have about 8 hours before I'm expected on the planet, as I'm sure you're aware, this has become a rather important enterprise. Doctor Mackenzie, what are the conditions of Mr. McLaren and Mr. Marta? Can they return to active duty soon? Mr. Rogers, Admiral Gr'iann, how are those translations coming? I'm going to need something available so I can communicate with the people on that planet. Mr. Klars, when you're done interviewing the people involved in the incident earlier this morning, please select a security team of about 10 for an away mission. Doctor Engtamn-Jensi, please do the same with the science staff. I need someone from every department. I know everyone was hoping for the pace to slow after yesterday, but unfortunately we have a lot of work to do.=^= Matthew tapped his badge to contact LT Casely but he was already talking to someone else so Matthew went back to work. =^=Ensign McLaren, please report to the FO’s office at once, Lieutenant Casely out.=^= Matthew tapped his badge. "Yes sir, on my way." Matthew replied. He put down his tools and walked into a waiting turbolift. (Posted by McLaren) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 58, Backup Computer Core Two, COUNS Ensign (JG) Brian Rogers, 0941) Brian walked in after being informed of Petty Officer Miller's location by the computer. Miller was working along, kneeling before a EPS hub repairing something. "What bring you here all alone, Crewman?" Brian asked. The young man turned and looked at Brian, frowned and returned to his work. "I asked Chief Rourke to assign me to an assignment by myself, sir," he said. "Do you want to talk about the problems you've been having in your department?" Brian asked in a soothing motherly voice. "No, sir." "Listen, Jason. I have a certian medical condition. I need a special treatment, it makes me act funny. I've worked it out so I'll be in an isolation chamber next time. I'm sorry about the way I acted. I have no memory of it what so ever. I am the stations co-counselor and I really think we need to talk. What is your problem?" "Well, sir....the other crewmen in Engineering Divison, they make fun of me. Call me names and such," Miller explained. "Well Jason, have you demanded them to stop?" "Well, no, most of them are higher rank then me." "This has nothing to do with the chain of command. This is personal rights. They are feasting on your lack of self-esteem. Stand up for yourself. Walk with your chest out.You are important." "Sir, I'm just a lowly non-comissioned crewman, if I-...." "There is your problem, Jason. You are important. Somebody on this station needs you. In fact, I need you. Right now, Jason, you are very important. I need you to help me with a project. Lt. Casely is depending on me to get this project correct. Captain Arinna in turn in depending on Casely to figure out this magic planet situation. In turn, hundreds of ambassadors and admirals on this station and worried and are only staying clam by reports from Arinna. Think of it, Jason, if we fail on this, then this Station may have a massive failure of some sort," Brian said. He, of course, was making it up. He could easily find another engineering personal who could do this project better. "Well, sir, what about me improving the computer data relay?" He asked. "Don't worry about it. I'll make sure somebody else does it. Lets go," Brian said before he and Miller walked out. "On the way why don't you tell me more about yourself." Casely smiled a little and added, "I will ask, however, that you try not to blow him up. I would appreciate my officer back at some point in the near future. Try not to mislay any pieces." Thrall sighed heavily and rolled his eyes. His antennae drooped a little. "If you insist, but you'd be amazed at the affect of having a body part blown off has on a person's perspective." At that he turned and left the room. (Reply Al Muir) (Starbase Geneva, FO’s Office, ACEO Ensign McLaren, 0944) When Matthew arrived at the office he rang the chime and was let in. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-0948) After Marta had left, Kaitlyn didn't have too many other patients she needed to keep a stern eye on. Most of them were minor injuries that people just had to wait to make sure they wouldn't have an allergic reaction to the medication. As she headed back towards her office, she noticed that McLaren wasn't there either. ~The Admiral must have sent him back already.~ Not giving it a second thought, she reached her office and took a seat. Thoughts plagued her head of what Gr'iann had mentioned earlier. She sat, still and not moving for awhile as she thought about these things. When she snapped out of it, she noticed her unfinished reports on the current injuries in the medical bay. She really didn't feel like doing them as she was sick of them, but she figured if she got them done, she'd have more free time later. She must have been buried in her reports, because before she knew it, one of the nurses walked into her office and said, "Ma'am, is it alright if we discharge Ensign Maitlen?" Letting out the breath she didn't know she had been holding, she said, "I'll check him out first." She stood up and walked into the main bay and right up to the biobed the Ensign was on. "C'mon doc, can I leave yet or not?" Looking annoyed at him, she said, "I just want to run one last check before I say yes." She grabbed the tricorder out of her lab coat pocket and ran it over him. Seeing that nothing was wrong, she folded it up and put it back in her pocket. "Alright, you have a clean bill of health," she said and smiled. Before she knew it, he had already jumped off the biobed and was headed for the doors. "Make sure you come back if there's any other symptoms......and stay out of the thorn bushes next time!" He grinned at her and said, "Thanks doc, I will." He was then gone and she was left with the jar of thorns she had picked from his back all the way down to his legs. She didn't particularly like spending time on picking out thorns....especially out of someone's buttocks. They yelled too much. She chuckled as she remembered having counted them as she took them out. There was a grand total of 581 small thorns on the Ensign's entire dorsal side of his body. Disposing of the jar, she said to herself, "Gotta love this job..." (Posted by: Stacey) (Starbase Geneva - Medical Center - COUNS Ensign (SG) Kassia Marta - 0950) The feeling of clean clothes against your body after a invigorating shower has always been one of Kass' favorite pleasures of life. The warmth of the shower was able to releive some of her bodies aches and pains she acquired from the bouncing around on the Mithrandir. As she stepped from the shower she noticed that Kaitlyn had brought a fresh uniform for her. As Kass listened to the explanation Kaitlyn gave her, she realized just how close she actually came to dying. It was just the expertise of the Doctor that was on board at the time. Kass tried to find just the right words to express the gratitude for her life. There was only one thing to say, she finally discovered, but, just as she was going to voice them, Paul came across the channel. =^=Please ask Ensign Marta to report to the FOs office as soon as she's able. "Commander, I just want to say, that I am grateful to you for saving my life. I know that you will probably just tell me that it was just in a days work, but, I am thankful you were there." Kass said as she took Kaitlyn's hand and looked into her eyes. "I owe you my life." <> Kassia smiled as Kaitlyn helped her finish getting dressed as she was still a bit sore. Kaitlyn must have noticed the pained look in her eyes as she grabbed a hypospray as they walked back into the main medical center then pressed it to her arm. Kass rubbed her arm afterwards, not really knowing why cause it did not hurt. "Here, this will help with whatever lasting pain you might have." "Thank you, I have a feeling that I am going to need it." Kass replied with a chuckle as she left to go see the First Officer. "Well, it can be done, it will take a while to do it though. Every word?" Jason asked. "Not every word, just slang and historical meanings," Brian said, "I have a research database from yesterday. We can start there. Also we'll need a voice accuity chip, so we don't have to type in the words." "That should be simple, sir. He'd worked for over twenty years to earn it and it was roughly the equivalent of the 'ensign's' rank anyway. =^=Understood McLaren out.=^= ~Pompous jerk.~ thought Alan to himself and shrugged it off. He'd been doing this too long, he knew his duty and he knew the ranks. Better still, he knew the way to continue to succeed in Starfleet was to do as he was told. "Chief Petty Officer Rourke and Engineering team reporting for duty, sir," stated Rourke standing at attention, as did his contingent. "At ease." Matthew said and they all relaxed. "Ok we have under 6 hours to bring this ship up to top condition, so we're going to have to work quickly." Matthew said and glanced at a PADD. "First thing is to bring the warp core online and then power up all the other systems individually, I want level 4 diagnostics on all systems. We can't have any problems. Chief Rourke, you'll be working with me on the core calibrations." Matthew said. He handed out PADD with assignments on them to the team. "Questions?" McLaren asked. (reply any of the engineering team) "Ok lets get to work." The team moved away to there respective tasks. This was Matthews first real command situation, and even though it wasn't a huge task, it as the first time he had to give direct orders to people. He tried to present an aura of confidence but he wasn't sure about anything he was doing. ~Am i being too hard, too demanding, am i doing things the right way.~ He hoped it was ok and that he could get along with this team. He moved to a console and began powering up the core. "Could you watch the injectors please? Just make sure the plasma flow is regular. Don't want it overloading the core." Matthew said to Rourke. (posted by McLaren) (Starbase Geneva, Science Lab B, ACSO, Ensign {JG} Iss'rad Ghakin, 1007) Iss'rad still didn't feel like she was settling in to the station. Doctor Jensi seemed nice enough, but he was rather preoccupied most of the time. She had asked to help him with his experiments, but found that she didn't have the clearance for it yet. Apparently what he was working on was highly classified. Iss'rad sighed to herself. In the end, Doctor Jensi had freed her up to work on whatever she wanted to. Iss'rad had looked at a lot of different things and settled on trying to increase the range and scope of transporter technology. She had managed to construct the necessary equipment in her lab and had proceded to work on that. She hoped that she could make it unnecessary to use ships to get to the planet that had materialized in the distance. Iss'rad did some final adjustments to her prototype and then grabbed an apple from the table. She put a signal booster into the flesh of the apple and placed it in the transporter device. If it worked, she would be able to pick up the signal hanging in space about the same distance from the station as the planet was. Iss'rad calibrated the machine and began to power it up. She watched as the apple began to fade from existance... then... fade back in... Iss'rad shook her head and checked the powerflow, something was wrong. The equipment was still energizing and she couldn't shut it off. Iss'rad ran around, trying to cut the power, but the conduits had fused. She was running out of time. "Computer, iniate containment field," she stated loudly, hoping to contain the blast. There would still be questions, but at least there wouldn't be any huge amounts of damage. [Energy insufficient to engage containment field due to massive area energy drain.] "No... no... there has to be something. Computer, shift energy to the field," she yelled. [Unable to comply.] Iss'rad hung her head. It seemed her first assignment would also be her last. "Computer, iniate energy field around the lab," stated Iss'rad quietly. [Energy field in place.] With that, her experiment went critical. Iss'rad felt, for a split second, something akin to a transporter effect... as her molecules were torn apart along with everything else in the room. She wondered just how Dorrin and Brian were gettiing long or if they had been separated. She also guessed that Paul would let her know what happened to them and the rest of the crew when she talked to him. Kass had finally arrived at the First Officers Door and hit the door chime. It only took a second when she heard the familiar 'Enter'. She took a deep breath then headed in and when she stood in front of Paul's desk, she stopped and stood at attention. "Sir, Ensign Kassia Marta reporting for duty and as ordered." Kass said curtly. (posted by Frank) (Starbase Geneva, FO's Office, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely - 1017) Paul looked up again as the door chime went off... the FO's job was okay, but there was a lot of 'bureaucracy' that he could do without sometimes. "Sir, Ensign Kassia Marta reporting for duty and as ordered," stated Kassia. Paul looked at her and smiled. He tossed his PADD to one side, relieved to be delivered from the doldrums... again. "At ease... at ease. Have a seat. Its good to see you Mr. Marta, you gave us quite a scare. I'm glad to see you're doing well. Do you need any time off to recuperate more fully?" asked Paul. There was no sense pressing her into service until she was ready. Her health, the health of the entire crew, was more important than anything else in the end. Paul stared at him for a second. "Doctor... Engtamn... what's wrong?" asked Paul. Everything seemed okay... it all seemed quiet. "Come with me," said Engtamn, sobbing. Paul followed as Engtamn led Paul to Lab Two, there were the obvious signatures of energy barriers up. Engtamn looked them and disabled them. "Had she called and asked for help, I might have been able to do something. I'm so sorry..." Engtamn stated. Paul then walked into the lab and found it... empty. Empty as nothing, anywhere. No matter of any kind except the floors and walls. "I thought this lab was set up Doctor," stated Paul dumbfounded. "It was sir, fully stocked," said Engtamn. "Who was using it?" "Ensign Ghakin," came the response through an increase of sobs. "Where is she?" "Wherever the rest of the room is..." said Engtamn trailing off, "there... was... an... accident. She is... gone." Paul blinked for a second. She had only just arrived, hardly anyone knew her... now gone. "You're sure?" Engtamn hung his head lowly and nodded, "Yes... I was able to shut down the power conduit she opened but... I couldn't do anything... she tore apart her molecules and the molecules in this room and scattered them. Even if I could get them back they are all intermixed..." "I see," stated Paul who then tapped his comm badge, he hated this kind of thing, "General message to all crew of Starbase Geneva. I regret to inform you all that there has been a horrible accident. In the course of an experiment, Ensign Iss'rad Ghakin lost her life. I will inform you as to the date of her memorial service as soon as I know myself. I'm sorry to all her friends and collegues." Paul looked at Engtamn, "I'm sorry Doctor, I'll need your full report on this and you might want to create a note for her parents." "Yes Sir," said Engtamn as Paul entered the turbolift. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Turbolift, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely - 1108) Paul was on his way back up to Ops and pondering the death of a fresh faced ensign. Paul walked up a dirt road into a section of forest. He passed through a pathway leading beyond many large rocks, trees and plants. He knew this hike would take awhile, but that the trip would be worth it. That he would be returning to place where he constantly could find peace. Paul left his comm badge constructed, knowing that he would have to hear from the crewmembers, there was too little time before the departure. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Deck 14 Holodeck 5, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely - 1119) Paul walked slowly through the forest paths. He could hear the birds singing in the distance and a warm sunlight on his face. Paul knew this place, it was home. As he sauntered along, he remembered the mistake he had made on this hike the many times he'd done it before. "Why is it I can never learn to bring water with me?" Paul said aloud to no one in particular. Finally, he could see the structure in the distance. He sighed aloud and walked to the mostly glass and white metal building. Shaking his head he walked in and could almost instantly smell sweet grass smudging. This was a place of his youth... somewhere he often went to think and consider. Paul walked around the guard rail and peered at the rock. No one knew who exactly carved them, but hundreds of carvings of various sizes were present in the rock, a symbol of times and people long past, of spirit boats and gods. A perfect place for reflection. Paul opened the gate and walked out onto the rock, towards the smudge apparatus. He gathered some of the dried sweetgrass and lit it, letting it burn for a second before blowing it out to allow the smoke to permeate the area. The smell was a memory... something he considered when dealing with problems in his life. Paul sat cross legged and closed his eyes. He had caused the deaths of the people on that transport. Kassia Marta almost died on a mission he commanded. He could have lost most of his crew. Now, a junior science officer was dead. It was a lot to absorb in short order. So much had happened throughout the last 24 hours. It was almost too much to think of... too much to deal with. He needed to centre himself. He needed to relax. He needed to stay in control. Paul concentrated, felt himself relax and lost track of time. Finally, Paul stood up. "Time please," he said aloud. [Current station time is 1306.] Paul shook his head, he had to get going.
