They've initiated a warrp corre brreach. Get Kaitlyn... I mmean get the Mmirrthrandir out of therre. That's an orrderr!=^= The admiral said. Brian rolled his eyes. The Admiral needed to work on his language skills. ~How could he get two words confused....wait a second, does that mean...?~ Brian quickly put the topic out of his mind has Casely started giving Brian orders right away. "Don't bother with a reply Ensign. As if we're going to stay here and get caught in a warp core breach anyway. However, we are going to try and get some of those people off their ship before it goes." Brian nodded and began looking at a full systems report of their ship. Brian heard in background has Casely gave orders to the other members of the crew, but then suddenly Casely shouted out "BRACE FOR IMPACT!" shouted Paul, Brian's first reaction was to look to see what happened, but it was too late. There was a large jolt and Brian fell backwards out of his chair, but held onto the console so he didn't fly across the bridge. Brian pulled himself back into his seat and began a full check of ships systems. Casely requested a report from Engineering. "Chief, status report!" Casely demanded. =^=Warp engines are offline sir. We have a couple people hurt, but not badly. We smoked the circuitry, its nothing major, but we'll need an hour or two to get them back online,=^= Rourke said. Brian's station reported the same thing. "Stations, status reports, how far are we from Geneva?" Casely asked. Klars was the first to report. "We are 3-4 hours away from the station," Klars said. Brian noticed how Klars rarely addressed his superior officers has sir. However, it wasn't Brian's place to care about such things. Then Lt. Casely gave out orders to Kass and then Kaitlyn reported live from Sickbay. =^=Sir, I'm set up and ready for any wounded down here. Is everyone ok up there?=^= "Well Doctor, there are, but none seem to be overly serious. I'm sure we can come to you. I do believe Ensign Rogers is able to perform medical procedures too if we need something immediately," Lt. Casely said. Brian looked over and noticed that the lieutenant had a large wound on his head. Brian was just about to ask Lt. Casely if he needed medical attention right away, but Casely started speaking again and everyone listened. "Alright folks, we seem to have a bit of a journey ahead of us. Check your stations, do any minor repairs you can without involving engineering. I'm sure someone will be here when they can, but remember this class of ship carries only a limited crew of 40 people. "I will be in the ready room dealing with a few other issues. Ensign Marta, you have the CONN. Make sure you continue distance scans just in case there are other hostiles. We should be relatively clear at this point." Casely said has he stood up and the others went about their duties. Brian stood up and 'intercepted' Casely on his way to the door. "Lieutenant, I could grab the emergency medical kit and take care of that injury, sir." Brian asked. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (USS Mithrandir-Bridge-ACMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-1425) Right after Kaitlyn had announced the hazard of a warp core breach, a communication from Starbase Geneva came through. It was Admiral Gr'iann. =^=Paul, you need to get out of therre, now. They've initiated a warrp corre brreach. Get Kaitlyn... I mmean get the Mmirrthrandir out of therre. That's an orrderr!=^= ~Oh...my....god......~ She couldn't believe her ears and what she'd just heard come out of the Admiral's mouth. She was so embarrassed it wasn't even funny. Her face turned a slight shade of red, a mixture of being furiously mad and embarrassed. ~I swear....he's a dead man when I get back!~ She silently hoped Rogers didn't think that her and the Admiral were involved. She rather liked what conspired as the party a couple nights ago. Trying her hardest to ignore the communication, she went on pressing buttons on her console. Paul looked over at Rogers, "Don't bother with a reply Ensign. As if we're going to stay here and get caught in a warp core breach anyway. However, we are going to try and get some of those people off their ship before it goes." Kaitlyn glanced over to see the reaction on Brain's face. He looked annoyed, but .....was it mad? Whatever it was, Kaitlyn was hoping it wasn't directed towards her. "How are we doing for time Doctor?" Paul asked Mackenzie. "We have approximately 6 minutes and 09 seconds left, sir." Paul nodded, "Doctor, I think you more than realise that we may have a few bruises and broken bones soon. Do what you feel is appropriate." Kaitlyn nodded. "Yes sir." She gave up her station and headed down towards sickbay. (Posted by Stacey) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, Helm/Counselor, Ensign(SG) Kassia Marta, 1428) =^=Paul, you need to get out of therre, now. They've initiated a warrp corre brreach. Get Kaitlyn... I mmean get the Mmirrthrandir out of therre. That's an orrderr!=^= Kass heard what the admiral had said and knew that his reference to Kaitlyn had not gone unnoticed by Paul or anyone. She started to turn the ship in a direction that would take them away and also minimize their target size when or if the Core did go. Kass noticed that Paul looked over at Brian and gave him his orders, "Don't bother with a reply Ensign. As if we're going to stay here and get caught in a warp core breach anyway. However, we are going to try and get some of those people off their ship before it goes." She listened to what Brian had to say as Paul then tapped his comm badge to engineering. "Casely to Engineering," said Paul. =^=Yes Sir!=^= Replied Chief Rourke. "Chief, I need you to scan for life signs and beam the people on that ship over to our brig. Immediately!" said Paul. =^=I'll try Sir.=^= stated Rourke. "Ensign Marta, I need you to turn away from the warp core blast, make sure we offer as little resistance to the concussion force of the blast wave as possible. Prepare to go to warp," stated Paul. "Aye Sir, maneuver already completed and awaiting for your orders for warp." Kass stated then listed to the others as Paul continued to tell everyone quickly what to do. "Ensign Klars, as soon as we beam those people on here I want you to move power from our other shields to our aft shields and fire two torpedoes directly into the engine core on that vessel. The torpedo blast should work to dissipate the matter/antimatter explosion slightly. You'll have to be quick though," said Paul. (Reply Klars) "How are we doing for time Doctor?" Paul asked Mackenzie. Kass was impressed as Paul just continued as if the Admiral had not said what he did. It put people's minds back on the task at hand which could save everyone's lives. (Reply Mackenzie) Paul nodded, "Doctor, I think you more than realize that we may have a few bruises and broken bones soon. Do what you feel is appropriate." (Reply Mackenzie) =^=Sir, I can't get a lock on them. They all seem to be wearing some form of pattern distorter purposely so we can't pick them up. I'm sorry Sir.=^= The Chief said as he broke in with the communications. Kass heard Paul as he swore under his breath and understood what he was thinking. She knew that Paul had hoped that they would not take themselves down with their ship. But, fanatics as they were, they always would rather die than be capture because of the cause. All terrorists, and she thought of these as that, would rather die a martyr than be capture. She just hoped that they would not take any of the Mithrandir's crew with them. (posted by Frank) (Starbase Geneva, Main Operations, CSO, Ensign{SG} Doctor Engtamn-Jensi, 1430) Engtamn kept monitoring the sensors with a keen interest. He knew the ultimate effect would be the small ship exploding in brilliant light. He breathed in deeply and held his breath. He noticed a transporter effect from the ship to what he guessed was the planet's surface. ~Strange, not a life form in the transporter.~ thought Engtamn as he began to probe more deeply. He was a scientist and not accustomed to having to do these kind of duties. It was taxing on him when equations he was expecting to turn out didn't. He began to review the scans he had taken from what was in the transporter effect. "Curious," stated Engtamn aloud as he sifted through the information. (Reply Gr'iann, Arianna) Engtamn swallowed, "It would seem that the enemy craft has beamed down several crates of phaser rifles to the planet. I cannot imagine why or for what purpose." Engtamn knew that this was a violation of the prime directive and would not sit well with the senior officers. He continued to monitor what was happening. He could see that the Mithrandir had gone to warp slightly in advance of the blast. They should survive with little difficulty. Engtamn then noticed something... "The explosion caused by the ship has created an extremely large hole in the planetary shield. The resonance radiation is causing scans difficult, but it should clear shortly. It will most likely take the planet a fair amount of time to repair that section as I would imagine the circuits have overloaded," stated Engtamn. He wasn't sure if that was good news or bad news, although the loss of lives was always bad news whether they were involved in villainy or not. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1431) Paul listened as the group responded to what he had asked them to do. He was pleased that Kassia had anticipated his order and carried it out before he had asked her. She had obviously studied some tactics and knew more about flying ships than she initially let on. "Excellent work Mr. Marta. They aren't going to let us help them, take us to warp!" stated Paul, knowing he had cut the timing close in his hopes that he could help the people on the vessel. (Reply Kassia) Things happened so fast from that point that it seemed like a blur. Shortly after reaching warp, the unknown starship burst into a brilliant white light, as intense as a star. The initial blast had missed them, but Paul knew only too well about the shockwave that would soon follow, there would be no outrunning that, but distance could minimize the damage. The Mithrandir began to shake and shudder as they tried to clear the event. "BRACE FOR IMPACT!" shouted Paul, holding firmly onto the battle arms of the command chair. He could smell ozone as circuits popped. Paul hoped that his crew had prepared themselves in time and wouldn't be hurt too greatly. He looked around the bridge as they continued to shimmy and bounce. Some crew members were knocked out of their seats, others were braced well enough to hold on. Paul knew it would be a matter of time before the warp engines were offline due to circuit and waveform damage. Where ever they ended up, they'd have to limp home. At the speeds they were travelling, that could take several hours, enough time to exact basic repairs and emergency medical care. ~Thank goodness I brought medically trained people along,~ thought Paul. The Mithrandir continued to shake and shimmy and then... it stopped. Paul tapped his comm badge. "Chief, status report!" stated Paul. =^=Warp engines are offline sir. We have a couple people hurt, but not badly. We smoked the circuitry, its nothing major, but we'll need an hour or two to get them back online,=^= stated the chief. Paul was annoyed, but things could have been worse, the Mithrandir had held together. "Stations, status reports," he stated to the bridge and over the intercom to sickbay, "how far are we from Geneva?" Paul hoped they were close, but knew they were probably several hours away by impulse. It was then Paul put his hand on his forehead and was greeted by the sight of his own blood on. Looking up, he saw where a ceiling plate cover had jumped its housing and swung down, likely grazing him. ~There's a scar,~Paul thought. (Reply Marta, Mackenzie, Rogers, Klars) "Casely to Geneva, we're shaken and slightly damaged but OK. We're on our way back. Don't wait up for us, warp engines are out of commission," stated Paul with a sheepish grin as blood flowed into his eyebrow. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva-Main Ops-CMO- Admiral Gr'iann -1432) Gr'iann was fuming. Casely had totally ignored his order, and put the crew, his Kaitlyn, in unnecessary danger. He could feel his fur rising and his claws extend. He tried to shout something at him, but the look he was getting from Arianna stopped him cold. He just stood there, growling under his breath. =^=Casely to Geneva, we're shaken and slightly damaged but OK. We're on our way back. Don't wait up for us, warp engines are out of commission.=^= Gr'iann struggled to say something but nothing came out. His flip attitude about the danger they had just come through was infuriating. ~Don't wait up, indeed. I'll be waiting up for sure.~ Gr'iann turned to Arianna, trying hard to maintain his composure. He had to get out of the Ops center before he hurt someone. "Ifff you don't mmind Captain, I will get Mmedical rready forr theirr immpending rreturrn." Without waiting for a reply Gr'iann turned on his heels and stormed out of Main Ops. When Casely got back to the station he better not need medical attention, or even better, if he doesn't need medical attention, he soon after will. (reply Arianna, anyone at Ops) (posted by Al Muir) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, ATAC, Ensign Dorrin Klars 1434) "BRACE FOR IMPACT!" was the last thing Dorrin heard before he was sent flying. He braced himself, he really did, he just underestimated the force of the explosion. He was knocked into the side of a wall. He lay there for a second, absorbing the damage his body has taken. He was pretty sure nothing was broken, but he was going to be very sore after awhile. ~Note to self, have seatbelts reintroduced!~ He brought a hand to the back of his head and found that he had both a bruise and a rather severe cut. Dorrin decided something right there and than, there was nothing worse than a fanatic. "Stations, status reports," Paul stated to the bridge and over the intercom to sickbay, "how far are we from Geneva?" Dorrin stifled a groan, he really didn't want to get up, but he was always one for theatrics. Wincing he got up and walked over to his station, and checked the information. "We are 3-4 hours away from the station," reported Dorrin with great dignity before his body forced him to sit. (posted by Dan Black) (USS Mithrandir-Sickbay-ACMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-1436) Right after heading down to sickbay, Kaitlyn felt the ship jolt, and it wasn't a light one at that. Falling to the ground, she quickly got back up to her feet. ~Thank god nothing was laying around to go flying.~ Although sometimes that didn't matter. Shrugging it off, she got back to setting up some emergency supplies. "Stations, status reports," came Casely's voice through the communications. =^=Sir, I'm set up and ready for any wounded down here. Is everyone ok up there?=^= <> =^=All right sir, I'll be standing by.=^= One thing was for certain. Being in sickbay allowed her some privacy to think about what had just conspired in earlier events with the Admiral. Though she really didn't have time to think about it right now, she couldn't help but feel that he would be 'dead meat' when she returned. (Posted by: Stacey) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1438) Paul was on his way to the Ready Room when Ensign Rogers came running up to him. "Lieutenant, I could grab the emergency medical kit and take care of that injury, sir." Brian asked. Paul considered it for a second. It wasn't good to refuse help when someone offered, especially with such a young crew. He knew that they would be taking direction from him in these matters. In being in command in the situation, Paul had assumed a lot of responsibility and that meant leading by example. "Ok Mr. Rogers, I don't think its overly major, but you're right, it should be taken care of. Please proceed... and thank you," stated Paul with a grim grin. He hated being a patient, but saw little other recourse at this point in time. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, COUNS Ensign (JG) Brian Rogers, 1439) The lieutenant seemed to think about it and said "Ok Mr. Rogers, I don't think its overly major, but you're right, it should be taken care of. Please proceed... and thank you." Brian walked over and grabbed the medical kit and directed Casely back to the command seat and Brian took out the medical tricorder and ran it over Casely's head injury quickly. "So, Lt. Casely. What do you think about the crews first time together?" Brian said, trying to make conversation. (reply Casely) "I see, sir." Brian said. The tricorder told him it was a slight laceration. Brian stored the medical tricorder and took out a Dermal Regenerator and began running it over Casely's head wound. "You know, sir brings back some memories. I was injured last night coming back from my quarters." Brian with a wiry smile. (reply Casely) "OK, sir. Your done," Brian said, "If you have head pain later, please see me or..." Brian remembered he wasn't apart of the regular medical staff, "....go to see Gri'ann or Kaitlyn....uh, Lt. Commander Mackenzie, sir." Brian nodded to Casely and packed up the medical kit and stored it back on its place in the wall before returning to the Ops station and checking out the current report of the ship. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, Helm/Counselor, Ensign(SG) Kassia Marta, 1440) "Excellent work Mr. Marta. They aren't going to let us help them, take us to warp!" Paul stated Kass smiled inwardly at what Paul said. She knew that he was wondering how come she already had turned the ship away before he gave the order. He was now thinking that she knew more than she had let on. But, the truth of the matter was that she just used a little common sense. There was a ship in front of her and it was going to blow, what would be the most logical action, she had asked herself. Then the answer came quickly, turn the ship around to be ready to run like hell. She had the warp already keyed in and all she had to do was hit the engage. Kass had already basically engaged warp even before Paul had finished giving the order. She noticed that the initial blast had missed them, so, she started to angle the ship to have a the smallest amount of ship toward the shock wave as possible, thereby minimizing as much damage as possible. She knew that it the ship would still be heavily rocked by it and people would be hurt no matter what. "BRACE FOR IMPACT!" shouted Paul. Kass had not the time to hold on as she was trying to keep the ship heading away from the shock wave in the best direction away. All of a sudden, the ship was hit with a particularly hard wave that knocked her from her chair. She landed head first into her control panel which dazed her then it knocked her backwards onto the floor with a load crack. The lights went out for a few seconds and then she regained her sight started to return. At first she looked with eyes that could not focus on anything and as she rubbed her head she felt wetness. As her vision started to clear, she slowly got back up into her chair and started to check her controls, noticing that she had only impulse and thrusters left to her. Kass started to get control of the ship as she felt a warm wetness flowing down the side of her face. Then she heard Paul as if he was in a tunnel, "Chief, status report!". =^=Warp engines are offline sir. We have a couple people hurt, but not badly. We smoked the circuitry, its nothing major, but we'll need an hour or two to get them back online,=^= she barely heard the chief give his report to Paul. It dawned on her then why she did not have all the control she had at first. "Stations, status reports," he stated to the bridge and over the intercom to sickbay, "how far are we from Geneva?" Kass tried to look around to see what had happened to others on the bridge and was amazed that they were still in one piece. People was picking themselves up from the deck and trying to get back into their seats to make reports. Dorrin groaned as he started to answer Paul's question, "We are 3-4 hours away from the station". ~Great! 3-4 hours away and I got a splitting headache now.~ Kass thought to herself. "Ensign Marta, lets get going to Geneva, best speed," he said calmly, which, made her happy as her head was hurting so bad and it was hard to keep from passing out from the pain. =^=Sir, I'm set up and ready for any wounded down here. Is everyone ok up there?=^= ~I need to see her soon hopefully before my head splits in two or I pass out.~ Kass continued to think to herself as reports was arriving and she was trying to get them headed back to Geneva as fast as she could. "Well Doctor, there are, but none seem to be overly serious. I'm sure we can come to you. I do believe Ensign Rogers is able to perform medical procedures too if we need something immediately," Paul replied back to Kaitlyn. =^=All right sir, I'll be standing by.=^= "Alright folks, we seem to have a bit of a journey ahead of us. Check your stations, do any minor repairs you can without involving engineering. I'm sure someone will be here when they can, but remember this class of ship carries only a limited crew of 40 people," stated Paul as he stood up, "I will be in the ready room dealing with a few other issues. Ensign Marta, you have the CONN. Make sure you continue distance scans just in case there are other hostiles. We should be relatively clear at this point." "Aye Sir, I have the CONN." Kass acknowledged even though she felt like passing out instead of taking the conn. "Lieutenant, I could grab the emergency medical kit and take care of that injury, sir." Brian asked. "Ok Mr. Rogers, I don't think its overly major, but you're right, it should be taken care of. Please proceed... and thank you," stated Paul with a grim grin. Kass listened to as much of Brian's conversation with Paul until she got tired of it and then turned her attention to what everyone was doing as she continued to keep the ship heading toward the station. She noticed that Paul got up and headed off the bridge when Brian was finished. Then she ran the sleeve of her uniform across her face and noticed that it returned a large amount of blood on it. She was hoping that she could keep conscious long enough for Paul to return. (Posted by Frank) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1440) Paul listened to Rogers babble as he dressed his wound. He really wasn't in the mood for bedside manner, but at the same time this was the first attempt he had seen on the part of the Ensign not to mull over his 'famous' family or get grumpy over other issues. Paul grimaced and responded. "So, Lt. Casely. What do you think about the crews first time together?" "Everyone has done very well given the situation. I'm quite pleased with them," Paul grunted and Rogers dressed his wounds. "I see, sir. You know, sir brings back some memories. I was injured last night coming back from my quarters." Brian with a smile. ~I hardly see the comparison as I didn't trip over my own feet,~ thought Paul. "Yes Mr. Rogers, I remember," said Paul returning the smile. "OK, sir. Your done. If you have head pain later, please see me or go to see Gri'ann or Kaitlyn....uh, Lt. Commander Mackenzie, sir." Brian nodded to Casely. Paul nodded, "Don't pack that up just yet Ensign. I believe other members of the bridge crew may need your help." Paul glanced over at Marta, "Make sure she's alright. Might as well check Klars too while you're at it. If anyone is seriously injured signal me and get them down to Sickbay." (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1441) Paul knew they were all hurting and that the ship had taken a bit of a beating, he also knew it could have been much worse. Paul looked over to his ATAC as he called in his report. "We are 3-4 hours away from the station," reported Dorrin. Paul nodded, no big shock there. Warp engines were, for now, off-line. He wasn't sure how much impulse they had available, but something was better than nothing. "Ensign Marta, lets get going to Geneva, best speed," he said calmly. No reason to raise his voice at this juncture. (Reply Marta) Doctor Mackenzie's report came through next. =^=Sir, I'm set up and ready for any wounded down here. Is everyone ok up there?=^= "Well Doctor, there are, but none seem to be overly serious. I'm sure we can come to you. I do believe Ensign Rogers is able to perform medical procedures too if we need something immediately," said Paul as he touched the gash on his head again. He knew he should get it treated, but really didn't have time for that at the moment, he had other concerns. Let those who were worse off than him get taken care of, although by the sounds of it, there was just a collection of bumps and scratches. To that, Doctor Mackenzie stated that she'd be standing by. ~Fair enough, she probably could use a bit of alone time after that unnerving event.~ thought Paul. "Alright folks, we seem to have a bit of a journey ahead of us. Check your stations, do any minor repairs you can without involving engineering. We should be relatively clear at this point." (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, Helm/Counselor, Ensign(SG) Kassia Marta, 1443) "Don't pack that up just yet Ensign. I believe other members of the bridge crew may need your help." Marta saw Paul as he glanced over at her, "Make sure she's alright. Might as well check Klars too while you're at it. If anyone is seriously injured signal me and get them down to Sickbay." Kass saw that Brian had picked up the medical kit and was heading over to her, "Ensign Rogers, take care of Ensign Klars and the others first, then come see me." She wanted to make sure that everyone else had been taken care of first as she knew that everyone was just as in need as she was. (Posted by Frank) (Starbase Geneva, Office, Station Leader, Humans for Humanity, Dean Benford, 1444) Dean listened to the report and swore under his breath. Twelve of his best people lost, that would set him back a bit. The important thing was that the weapons had been beamed down to the oppressed humans on the surface of the planet. He already began to key in requests for replacements when he noticed something else... part of the shield is gone. The planet was not susceptible, it could be scanned and potentially assaulted. Dean immediately began to formulate a plan. He hit his intercom button, "Doctor, please begin formulating some of our probes to be transporter shunts. We won't be taking a craft in again. By the time we're done, I'll have a full fighting force on that planet without having to outrun this station's crew." =^=Yes Sir, I'll get on it immediately.=^= Benford grinned, he'd have control of this situation yet. This would be a mere stepping stone to get off this station and back on Earth, where he could eventually gain control of the entire group. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, COUNS Ensign (JG) Brian Rogers, 1445) Brian listened to Kass' request and walked over to Ensign Klar's station. "Ensign, are you injured?" Brian asked. (reply Klars, if he's hurt we can expand this part) When Brian was done he went back to Kass. She was his superior officer by about a half a rank so he acted like he was talking to Casely or the captain. "Sir, I am ready to treat your injury now." Brain stated. (reply Marta) Brian got out the medical tricorder and scanned her injury. Same has Casely, she had a small laceration. Brian thought about how Klars seemed to view him has stuck up, so Brian decided to be more open and treat his crewmates has equals....maybe not talk about his famous (or infamous if you're a Borg Drone....or an annoyed Starbase Geneva crewmate) bloodline so much. Brian put away the medical tricorder and got out the Dermal Regenerator. "Same injury has the lieutenant. Maybe Starfleet should make those Marine combat helmets standard issue." Brian said has he waved the dermal regenerator over her injury, trying to stay out of her way has she had to pilot the ship and keep in full command of the bridge while Casely was away. (reply Marta) "So, what do you think about Admiral Gri'ann? In all respect to the Admiral I think he needs to study more. I mean, how could he confuse the words Kaitlyn and Mithrandir. Such different words, right sir?" Brian asked. Her injury was healed and Brian started packing up the medical gear, once again. (reply Marta) "Alright, Ensign. Any more pain in your head, then the wound didn't heal properly and Lt. Commander Mackenzie or the Admiral need to commence surgery at once." Brian said. (reply Marta) Brian stood up and stored the medical kit on its place on the walk and returned to his Ops station and looked over the status report of the ship. Repairs were progressing slowly, but surely. Brian sat watching the repair teams report in their status when an idea crossed Brian's mind. He got up and walked over to Ensign Klars. "Ensign, can you use the sensors can see if the hole the small craft was making is there in the planetary shields?" Brian asked of Klars. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (USS Mithrandir, Captain's Ready Room/Quarters, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1446) Paul walked into the largest service room on the ship. The ready room of Defiant Class vessels had to double as both the staff meeting area and the captain's quarters. Due to the cramped space of this class of vessel, the captain was the only one who didn't have to share quarters on extended missions. This was the first time Paul had set foot in this room and he contemplated having the bed slide out of the wall and lie down for awhile as his head had started to throb. ~No time for that now,~ Paul thought as he sat down at 'his' desk. "Computer, coded transmission to Starbase Geneva, Captain Lise Arianna, priority message authorization Casely Beta 7-4-2 Epsilon," said Paul, entering the protocol for a private, encrypted transmission to the Captain. [Acknowledged] Paul waited for the image of the Captain to appear. He would be sure this way that she had moved to her own ready room and was alone. "Captain, we're going to be okay. We're a few hours from the station and we're taking the time to inmate repairs. It could have been a lot worse, we have a pretty good crew here," said Paul, "I do have a few concerns though." (Reply Arianna) "Frankly, Admiral Gr'iann's infatuation with Doctor Mackenzie has become... disruptive. He crossed a line in his last transmission, as I'm sure you're aware. I can tell that she's becoming very... uncomfortable... with Gr'iann's advances. We're at a point where I will have to record my reservations into my official log," stated Paul cautiously. He was hoping that the Captain had seen the same things, but knew that he had a responsibility to the Kaitlyn, and all of his crew. The Admiral's 'order' had been out of line and potentially dangerous. (Reply Arianna) "I also have concerns over Ensign Rogers. He performs his duties competently enough, but I'm concerned about his demeanour. I'd like to recommend he reports for a medical examination and possibly a psych evaluation," Paul mentioned. It was important that his crew interact and react well together. Rogers had behaved oddly at the meeting and seemed to take every decision that didn't involve his ideas personally. Paul knew that had to be dealt with as he couldn't have the younger officer believe he had something against him just because he didn't accept his suggestions at times. Paul had also noticed the looks and facial expressions Rogers had every time the Admiral spoke or was present. It was troubling. (Reply Arianna) Paul nodded, he knew that the Captain could deal with these problems, but technically in his role as first officer, it was his job. "Finally, I have to ask... did you come up with anything on the ship or the planet that we missed as we were running away from there as fast as possible?" (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, Helm/Counselor, Ensign (SG) Kassia Marta, 1450) "Sir, I am ready to treat your injury now." Brain stated after he had finished with Klars and came back over to her. Kass looked around the bridge and it did indeed seem that everyone that needed help had been taken care of. She was ready, more then ready for Brian to help her now. "Thank you Ensign." She watched Brian as much as she could as she was still piloting the Mithrandir. After he retrieved the medical tricorder from the med kit, he scanned her to see how much and what injuries she had. Then he put the medical tricorder back into the kit and pulled out the Dermal Regenerator to use on her cuts. She felt a little bit better after her cuts were healed but that still did nothing to her headache. She figured that it would just be something that she would have to deal with for a while. "Same injury has the lieutenant. Maybe Starfleet should make those Marine combat helmets standard issue." Brian said "That might not be such a bad idea." She agreed chuckling "So, what do you think about Admiral Gri'ann? In all respect to the Admiral I think he needs to study more. I mean, how could he confuse the words Kaitlyn and Mithrandir. Such different words, right sir?" Brian asked. "The Admiral? I really have not had time to form an opinion of him as I have not had the time to talk with him. The fact that he used those words would not mean a confusion in words, just a lack of professionalism. I have heard that he has some feelings about Kaitlyn. I am sure that he did not mean to use her name. I really would not worry about it unless we are told to do so." Kass explained in answer to him as she continued to pilot and watch what was going on with the Mithrandir. "Alright, Ensign. Any more pain in your head, then the wound didn't heal properly and Lt. Commander Mackenzie or the Admiral need to commence surgery at once." Brian said. "Thank you Ensign Rogers, I do have a headache, but, I think I can deal with it till we arrive the Station. I know there are probably others that need help more than I do now, thanks to you." Kass answered. (Posted by Frank) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1503) Paul walked back onto the bridge from the Ready Room and scanned the bridge. Everyone seemed to be in place and doing their jobs. Without consciously thinking about it, Paul massaged his temples. Despite the fact his blood was no longer flowing down his forehead, he retained the headache he had acquired when the ceiling plating bashed his head. Everyone seemed to be doing their jobs, and working harmoniously, he was feeling in slightly better spirits knowing that some of the issues about the planet would soon be taken care of. Paul strode across the bridge and nodded to Ensign Marta. "Thank you Ensign Marta for watching things in my absence. How are you doing?" inquired Paul with a smile. (Reply Marta) Paul nodded and advanced to Rogers. "I'm sorry for my abruptness earlier Ensign. I had a few things on my mind. Thank you for your emergency medical work on the bridge. How is everyone?" (Reply Rogers) "Right, thanks again Mr. Rogers. Ensign Klars? Do me a favour, when we get back, bring in Dean Benford for questioning. We can't really arrest him for anything yet, but I feel his hand in this whole mess," said Paul with a nod towards the ATAC. (Reply Klars) With that done, Paul turned his attention to the entire crew. He pressed his intercom button to broadcast to the three dozen other crew members, "Geneva is aware of our situation and are awaiting our return. It seems the blast destroyed a portion of the shield around that planet. The base is taking this opportunity to do some in depth scanning of the planet. Hopefully, we'll have more answers when we get back. I'm pleased and impressed by the way you all conducted yourselves under very stressful circumstances. Despite the fact that we're new to the Mithrandir and to Geneva, I believe we've exemplified everything that is Starfleet. Lieutenant Casely out." (Reply any) With that, Paul sat down in the command chair and tried to focus on the logs and repair reports that he knew would be coming for the next few hours. ~This,~ he thought, ~is the downside of command.~ Paul could already feel his normal cravings for coffee beginning to take hold. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, COUNS Ensign (JG) Brian Rogers, 1505) Brian was looking over the ship's status reports thinking about what his fellow counselor had said to him. ~I have heard that he has some feelings about Kaitlyn.~ Kass had said, which made Brian a wee bit angry. Brian and Kaitlyn had hit it off at the party last night, but Brian must have assumed to much. He sat with a depressed look on his face watching the reports of the repair teams come in when Lt. Casely walked in. Lt. Casely had gotten a status report from Ensign Marta, then turned to him. "I'm sorry for my abruptness earlier Ensign. I had a few things on my mind. Thank you for your emergency medical work on the bridge. How is everyone?" Casely asked. "Everyone is fine, sir," Brian said, staggering off, "Everybody had slight elevated pulses and such from the action, but other than that we're all fine." Brian said. He then turned back to his duties has Casely talked to Klars and the rest of the crew. Brian then heard Casely's speech to the rest of the crew. "Geneva is aware of our situation and are awaiting our return. Lieutenant Casely out." The speech filled Brian with Starfleet pride and he felt proud that he was wearing the uniform. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, ATAC Ensign Dorrin Klars, 1507) :Ensign Klars? Do me a favour, when we get back, bring in Dean Benford for questioning. We can't really arrest him for anything yet, but I feel his hand in this whole mess," Dorrin nodded, he wasn't sure if it was Benford, but he didn't know enough He heard the Lt. give a speech to Geneva when a thought struck him. "Sir, why is it that you think Benford is involved, because he is the local bigot?" (posted by Dan Black) (USS Mithrandir-Sickbay-ACMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-1507) The main part of the mission in the Mithrandir was now over. The blast had destroyed a better part of the planet's shield and Geneva was now taking over the scans. The main thing they were trying to do now was to get back to the base so that they could get the Mithrandir repaired and continue the mission from there. Sitting in sickbay, Kaitlyn had heard the speech given by Lt. Casely. She was happy that he was heading this mission. He was good for the part. He held up well under stress and pressure. Sighing, she couldn't wait to get back to the starbase....or could she? She sat and thought about the embarrassment she would face upon their return. But then again they were all grown ups and this matter could definitely be handled by her alone. ~Yeah right, I'm sure he's been put in report for that by now.~ She still respected the Admiral, but now she had different feelings altogether about him. She felt like a trapped animal in a way, trying to get away from him constantly. ~Maybe I should have been in the security department....~ Ridding herself of those thoughts, she stood up and looked out the window. They were traveling slow, at impulse she guessed. The Lieutenant had not said whether or not he had needed her on the bridge, but stated that it was ok that she standby in sickbay. She guessed that might have been his way of telling her to take a quick moment for herself while she still could. All she knew was that they would be plenty busy with the current mission and she needed to work to keep her mind of things. (Posted by: Stacey) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, Helm/Counselor, Ensign(SG) Kassia Marta, 1508) "Thank you Ensign Marta for watching things in my absence. How are you doing?" inquired Paul with a smile. "Sir it was a pleasure and I have just a bit of a headache, which, I do believe that most of us have at this moment." Kass replied then returned her attention to piloting even while she listened to what was being said on the bridge. A counselor usually keeps an ear out listening to every conversation if they are able. They need to hear things so that if there is something that seems wrong they can get a clue as the crew speaks to one another. Then she also listened to the conversation about Dean Benford. She thought also that Dean had something to do with the last situation. The entire crew was human and that would be just what Kass had thought that Dean would send to the planet if he had the information they had. Somehow she was sure that he did. The only problem was how to connect him to the incident. Kass then listened to the speech that Paul gave everyone and she was glad that Geneva was aware but she was uncertain as to the Admiral's reaction of Paul taking Kaitlyn into a hostile area. Maybe she needed to have a session with the admiral if he will let her. She thought that she had better return all of her attention or as much as she could, back to getting the Mithrandir back to Geneva. (Posted by Frank) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1509) Paul looked at his ATAC as he responded to him. "Sir, why is it that you think Benford is involved, because he is the local bigot?" Paul looked at him for a second... and then remembered he had just arrived and hadn't a chance to brief himself on station events. "No, I believe he might be involved because he is apparently in charge of an anti-alien group on the station which we don't know the size or scope of yet," replied Paul. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, ATAC, Ensign {JG} Dorrin Klars, 1511) "No, I believe he might be involved because he is apparently in charge of an anti-alien group on the station which we don't know the size or scope of yet," replied Paul. "Oh I see," replied Dorrin. He thought about that for a moment before continuing, "sir, since we have a few hours before we get to the station, you said that you had some cases to brief me on. Since my post isn't very active at the moment, would now be a convenient time for you? (Posted by Dan Black) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1517) Paul heard his ATAC ask to be briefed... this wasn't exactly the circumstance he was hoping for, but at the same time it would be a chance to check the computer interface circuitry with his security office on Geneva. Paul knew that vast sections of the Mithrandir had to be rebuilt after it was returned to the station, she had been borrowed and almost destroyed. Paul looked to Ensign Marta. "Mr. Marta, do you have any problem taking the conn while I brief my security assistant on a few on station issues? If you need me for any reason, you'll have priority, you just need to buzz," said Paul He knew that Marta wasn't feeling well, just as he wasn't, and he didn't want to press his luck. (Reply Marta) "Thank you, remember, if you need anything just call," said Paul as he walked back towards his ready room. "Ensign Klars, you're with me." (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (USS Mithrandir, Ready Room/Captain's Quarters, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1522) Paul walked into the ready room and sat behind the... his... desk. "Computer, call up active file on Benford, Dean," said Paul in a monotone. [Working...] A picture flashed on the screen which Paul then turned around to Klars. "That's him Dorrin, the devil in a business suit. Station head of Humans for Humanity," said Paul. (posted by Dan Black) (USS Mithrandir, Ready Room/Captain's Quarters, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1530) Paul listened as his ATAC posed a question, "Sir, why haven't we tried to infiltrate his organization, we suspect he has infiltrated us, so we can get him with his own tactic." This was something that Captain Arianna and he had discussed the possibility of before. They hadn't discarded the possibility, but the appearance of a planet had slowed down Paul's normal investigations. Paul chuckled, "Don't kid yourself, we've thought about it. The thing is, he really only came to our attention a couple a few days ago, and with other problems, like planets appearing beside us, it really hasn't been a first priority. A mission like that would require a fair bit of time to accomplish, it wouldn't be done immediately, you're talking about possibly months before you're even noticed by his group as sympathetic, any faster and they'd notice something was 'odd'. You also have to remember, this would be a very dangerous endeavour as well. We probably wouldn't deal with people infiltrating Starfleet in quite the same way. Why? (posted by Dan Black) (USS Mithrandir, Ready Room/Captain's Quarters, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1536) Paul looked at Klars for a second and nodded slowly. "Well Ensign, I'll need to talk this over with the Captain, and you'll need to acquaint yourself more closely with the group. I'll also need you to come up with some ideas how you'll begin the infiltration and make it believable... but it seems like it might be worth a shot," said Paul, "You also should know that this means your attitude will have to change towards everyone from our Captain, to the Admiral, to Ensign Marta. They're all non-human, and therefore targets of hatred for the group. You're going to lose friends in the short term and make your integration into Geneva very difficult for awhile. I'll discuss it with the Captain, but I need you to know what you're getting into. You won't be able to tell anyone anything except myself and the captain, and that means not talking about it after we leave this office." (Reply Klars) "Speaking of which, I really should be on the bridge. Its not fair to make Ensign Marta run things for me when she has her own station to worry about," stated Paul as he nodded to Klars and began to leave the office. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1540) Paul walked back onto the bridge and towards the command chair with Klars following shortly behind him. Most of the injuries were minor and Kaitlyn was now focusing most of her attention on writing her report on the PADD in front of her. =^=Doctor, how are you doing down there? Any real problems in sickbay?=^= She stopped writing long enough to reply to the Lieutenant. "I'm doing fine sir. Most of the injuries were minor and there were no serious wounds from the battle." After having replied, she turned her attention once more to the PADD she held in her hand and stared at it, as if lost in thought. ~I hope we get back to the base soon...~ (Posted by: Stacey) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1608) Some banter filled the bridge back and forth from time to time as the Mithrandir slowly worked its way back to Geneva on impulse. At times, Paul wanted to get out and push. He knew that the engineers on board were doing there best, but things seemed so slow without warp drive. The Mithrandir was lucky. No dead, no majorly injured. Just a few cuts and bruises. Paul subconsciously touched the place where his wound once was. He had been double checking the information, logs and work being done by his bridge staff. For the most part, they were effective and efficient, despite the fact that none of them had really served on a starship before. They would require some fine tuning, especially when it came to working together as a cohesive group, but overall, they were doing well. Finally, the call came. =^=Sir, I can give you up to warp three.=^= came the call from the Chief. It was no warp nine, but it would certainly be faster than going at impulse. Instead of two more hours to their destination, it would be reduced to less than thirty minutes. "Excellent work Chief, thank the engineering staff for me," said Paul, "Helm, plot in a course for the Mithrandir's docking bay on Geneva. Mr. Rogers, continue scanning and adjusting power regulation. Engage." (Reply Marta, Rogers) With that, the ship started to go to warp. Paul watched as the stars began to stream by. They'd be home in no time now. Then he heard the alarm klaxon. [ALERT. WARP DRIVE MALFUNCTION. WORMHOLE.] Paul swore aloud. Wormholes were more than a bit potentially dangerous. They reacted like warp, but caused odd gravitational pulls on people. What's more, a wormhole screwed up the tactical plotting computer, meaning that their course could take them right into an asteroid, a moon, a planet or even a star. Everything felt like it was moving in slow motion, as the ship lurched forward in a dilation in time. "Rogers... scan... ahead... for... objects... in... our... path. Marta... cut... engines... now! Klars... be... ready... to... fire... torpedoes," said Paul. He hoped that his crew had worked a few simulations of this kind of event. He also knew they were rare, and not all instructors dealt with them anymore. He touched his comm badge, "CHIEF... get... us... out... of... warp! Doctor... Mackenzie... you... may... need... to... be... ready... for... more... casualties." (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, Helm/Counselor Ensign(SG) Kassia Marta, 1609) "Mr. Marta, do you have any problem taking the conn while I brief my security assistant on a few station issues? If you need me for any reason, you'll have priority, you just need to buzz," said Paul. Kass looked back at Paul before answering him, wondering what kind of issues that he was talking about. She knew that Paul probably had already put Dean Benford at the top of the list. "Aye, Not a problem, Sir." Kass answered then turned back to piloting the ship. "Thank you, remember, if you need anything just call," said Paul as he walked back towards his ready room. "Ensign Klars, you're with me." Kass looked back as the two of them headed toward the Ready Room. There was something wrong with her, Kassia knew that there was as her headache had gotten worse and she was having trouble concentrating on what she was doing. She knew that she had landed very hard on the deck with the back of her head. The impact with the console with the front of her head was no picnic either. All of a sudden she gave way to the nausea feeling and bent over to let the contents of her stomach splatter on the deck. The Doctor host in her started to analyze what could be the problem. Skull fracture, subarachnoid hemorrhage, subdural haematoma, or even epidural hematoma all of which was serious in nature, but, she was determined to at least get the ship to the station. She was not going to let Paul down and cause someone else having to take her position as there were so few on board as it was. She was not sure that there was anyone that could take her position other than maybe Paul. Soon, Paul walked back onto the bridge, with Klars following behind him, towards the command chair. As he sat down, he tapped keys on the command chair then asked, "I need a status report folks, how far are we from getting this bird up and running properly?" Kass listened vaguely to all the reports and the banter back and forth. She could not focus on any one thing until she heard the news about the warp drive. She felt as good as she could about being able to get up to warp three in forty-five minutes. That meant they would be back to the station a lot sooner, which, she felt would be a good thing for her. "Helm, plot in a course for the Mithrandir's docking bay on Geneva...." she heard Paul say or at least she thought she did. "Plot engaged, ready at your enter." Kass replied. Then she engaged the warp drives that soon had them pulling up at warp three. [ALERT. WARP DRIVE MALFUNCTION. WORMHOLE.] "Rogers... scan... ahead... for... objects... in... our... path. Marta... cut... engines... now! Klars... be... ready... to... fire... torpedoes," said Paul. He hoped that his crew had worked a few simulations of this kind of event. Mackenzie... you... may... need... to... be... ready... for... more... casualties." "Sir... forward... sensors... show... a... medium... sized... asteroid... in... our... path..." Kass heard Brian report just before she as she hit the emergency warp shut down. Then she hit it again and again, but, nothing happened. Stress, tension started to grow higher in her and she could feel it. She was getting angry at the warp drive and the asteroid was getting closer. The pain in her head grew as she got angrier, ~got to think, think, pain, rage, think, got to think, pain, rage, think~ Was going through her mind as she was trying her best to find a way out. All of a sudden she felt no more pain and did not feel any senses of urgency as she stepped up from her chair to look around at Paul. She watched as he was giving orders for people to follow and everyone on the bridge seemed very intent on the view screen. She turned back around to see what was happening and saw that she had slumped forward onto the control panel. (posted by Frank) (USS Mithrandir-Sickbay-ACMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-1610) Finally finishing up on the report in sickbay, Kaitlyn stood up to stretch her legs. She felt like she had been sitting there forever writing that dumb thing. As she stood up, she suddenly felt a familiar jolt. Looking outside, she saw the stars flying past. ~Must have warp drive back.~ Sighing, she decided she would head to the bridge to see if anyone could use a hand as everything in sickbay was taken care of. But before she could get there, she started feeling really strange, which was when she heard the alert. [ALERT. WARP DRIVE MALFUNCTION. WORMHOLE.] ~Now?! I can't believe this!~ Next, she heard Casely's voice through the COMM and tried to listen carefully as they were being thrown within a wormhole and things were distorted. =^=CHIEF... get... us... out... of... warp! Doctor... Mackenzie... you... may... need... to... be... ready... for... more... casualties.=^= Her reply came back slow, just as his had. "Yes....sir." Turning around, she was glad she didn't set foot outside the sickbay doors yet, as she would be needed soon, she feared. (Posted by: Stacey) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, COUNS Ensign (JG) Brian Rogers, 1612) Brian sat and waited. He almost fell asleep has he watched the repair logs and sensor readings pile in. It felt like they were drifting slowly in space, being this range from Geneva.~Oh man, this must be what it is like before they invented warp drive.~ Brian thought to himself. Brian tugged at his uniform again and tapped a single finger on the console has he waited, but then.... =^=Sir, I can give you up to warp three.=^= said the Chief, from engineering. "Excellent work Chief, thank the engineering staff for me. Helm, plot in a course for the Mithrandir's docking bay on Geneva. Mr. Rogers, continue scanning and adjusting power regulation. Engage." Lt. Casely said. Brian sprung to life and began scanning on full spectral sweep and watched the power supply incase of another influx like before. (Reply Marta) And then the ship jumped to warp. Brian sighed a big sigh of relief and took his eyes off the sensor readouts when suddenly the computer made a loud declaration. [ALERT. WARP DRIVE MALFUNCTION. WORMHOLE.] Brian's heart sunk. They were so close to the safety of the starbase, but this had to happen. Suddenly everything began to act strange. Everything seemed slowed down, like a preschool child's holoprogram, expect here there were no bright colors or laughing clowns. Casely began to speak in slow motion, turning to him. "Rogers... scan... ahead... for... objects... in... our... path. Marta... cut... engines... now! Klars... be... ready... to... fire... torpedoes," said Lt. Casely, has he then tapped his com pin "CHIEF... get... us... out... of... warp! Doctor... Mackenzie... you... may... need... to... be... ready... for... more... casualties." Brian quickly turned and began working has Kaitlyn reported back. =^=Yes....sir.=^= Her voice said. Brian reported back to Casely. "Sir... forward... sensors... show... a... medium... sized... asteroid... in... our... path..." (Posted by Kevin Schram) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, ATAC Ensign Dorrin Klars, 1613) [ALERT. WARP DRIVE MALFUNCTION. WORMHOLE.] "Rogers... scan... ahead... for... objects... in... our... path. Marta... cut... engines... now! Klars... be... ready... to... fire... torpedoes," said Paul. He hoped that his crew had worked a few simulations of this kind of event. He also knew they were rare, and not all instructors dealt with them anymore. He touched his comm badge, "CHIEF... get... us... out... of... warp! Doctor... Mackenzie... you... may... need... to... be... ready... for... more... casualties." Dorrin didn't know much about wormholes, but he did do some simulations so he sprang into action and began to ready the torpedoes to make sure nothing hit them while they fought the gravitational pull. However he still wasn't ready for how everything slowed down, he himself felt like he could barely move, it was then he heard Rogers report that an asteroid was headed there way. For a second Dorrin blanked out, but then he realized that this sort of thing was exactly what he was here for. He quickly fired the torpedoes and obliterated the asteroid. "The...asteroid.......is taken.....care of.....sir." he said. (reply any) (posted by Dan Black) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1615) Given this new crisis, the crew was once again reacting admirably. He would have to have a conversation with the Chief about calibrating the warp coils before stating warp is possible. This was an annoying event that was completely unnecessary. It was lucky that in this case it was just annoying as it could have well been fatal. With the good teamwork by Klars and Rogers (perhaps there was hope for those two yet), the ship had averted being destroyed. Suddenly, and with a thud, the Mithrandir fell out of warp. Paul took a few seconds to get his bearings. The first thing that struck Paul was the body of Ensign Marta slumped over her station. He quickly tapped his comm badge. "Casely to Mackenzie, Ensign Marta requires emergency medical beam out," Paul said sharply. He didn't know what was wrong, but time was often of the essence. (Reply Mackenzie) Paul watched Marta's body shimmer away. He quickly walked down to the helm station and began to work that station. Paul had never been comfortable piloting ships, but it was a necessary skill learned in command school. Every command officer had to learn every station except counselling and advanced medicine. He quickly put the ship on autopilot, plotting the course back to the Starbase at maximum warp. He could tell they were under an hour away from the station from their current output, but wanted a more exact approximation. "Ensign Rogers, how far are we from Geneva?" asked Paul. (Reply Rogers) Paul nodded, that sounded about right. "Mr. Klars, good work with the torpedoes. For future reference, we use torpedoes instead of phasers because phaser output is passed through the warp engines to save on power drain. When that kind of warp anomaly forms, firing the phasers can cause the engines to explode," said Paul, "Do you have any questions?" (Reply Klars) With that Paul nodded and routed the helm sensors to his command chair. That way he could keep an eye on the helm controls, but not be sitting at the station until they reached the Starbase. He would have to be on helm with they docked, but for now, he could continue recording logs, and taking care of other command problems. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (USS Mithrandir-Sickbay-ACMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-1617) Kaitlyn was just getting ready to report to the bridge. She knew they were in a current ....well....crisis, and she was going to take her station back on the bridge. She took one step outside the sickbay doors, when she heard Casely's voice. =^=Casely to Mackenzie, Ensign Marta requires emergency medical beam out,=^= he said. ~Marta? I wonder what's wrong?~ She had just left the bridge crew and everyone seemed to be fine. The best guess she was working up in her head was the possibility of an internal injury. Turning around, she stepped right back into sickbay, and said, "Computer, beam Ensign Marta directly to sickbay." Right after her words, she watched as the shimmer of the transporter rematerialized her onto a biobed. Instantly, Kaitlyn grabbed a tricorder. Running it over Marta's body, she confirmed what she had been thinking.....internal injury. Kaitlyn then set down the tricorder and grabbed a tray full of instruments. Grabbing a hypospray, she first injected Marta with melorazine, a sedative to keep her out during the surgery. She waited as the medication took effect, then prepared the Ensign for minor surgery. Kaitlyn thought about letting Lt. Casely know what was going on, but he had better things to do at the moment. She decided to wait until after the surgery was over to detail him. She would have better information afterwards anyways. Now completely set up, she started by using a small laser beam to cut into Marta's stomach. Her tricorder had detected a hemorrhage in the Ensign's stomach that had to be removed, as it was starting to get in the way of vital functions. If it wasn't removed at all, it would result in an eventual bleed out. She furrowed her eyebrows as she was concentrating on now removing the blockage out of the gastric system. As she was doing so, she also discovered the ensign had a slight rupture as well. ~Probably how the hemorrhage got there in the first place.~ It wasn't long before Kaitlyn had managed to get the bleeding stopped in Marta's stomach and repair the damage that had been done. Before, she knew it, she was now closing the wound she opened, and leaving the Ensign unconscious for awhile. She would a few to recover as not to agitate the wound further. Tapping her commbadge, she said, “Doctor Mackenzie to Lt. Casely, Ensign Marta will be recovering in sickbay for awhile before I can send her back up to the bridge. She's undergone minor surgery to repair some internal bleeding.” <> “Yes sir, she will make a quick recovery. Mackenzie out.” Now having something else to add to her already lengthy report, she let Marta rest as she was under observation, and Kaitlyn started in with the current situation of Ensign Marta in her report. (Posted by: Stacey) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1627) Paul was going about trying to assess the damage. Things didn't seem to be too bad. It seemed that the chief failed to properly recalibrate the warp engines before bringing them on line. Proof positive that he'd been sitting on a starbase too long. His thoughts frequently strayed to Ensign Marta. He hoped she was alright, but Paul knew that it wasn't a good time to bother the doctor for a report. Besides, he was more than a little bit busy on the bridge. As if on cue a communication came from sickbay. =^=Doctor Mackenzie to Lt. Casely, Ensign Marta will be recovering in sickbay for awhile before I can send her back up to the bridge. She's undergone minor surgery to repair some internal bleeding.=^= Paul shook his head. He was tired of this mission, he knew it was necessary, and he thanked whatever powers there were that he took the Mithrandir instead of a Runabout. "Will she be okay Doctor?" asked Paul with genuine concern in his voice. =^=Yes sir, she will make a quick recovery. Mackenzie out.=^= ~Thank goodness,~ thought Paul. He was starting to feel definite fatigue. This had been a difficult bit, and he had to make sure that he remained upbeat and in control. This was, in essence, his first command and people had to trust him. Paul began to reply events and tried to find places where he could have done things differently. He was deep in thought when a call from the Chief interrupted him. =^=Rourke to Casely, I believe we're ready to go, Sir,=^= said Alan. "Are you sure Chief? I don't want a repeat of our last performance," Paul's replied. =^=Yes Sir, positive,=^=said Alan. "I'll be right down to double check," said Paul. There was a pause on the other end of the comm link. Paul knew that the Chief wasn't happy about having his work double checked and he hoped the Rourke wouldn't take personal offense to it, but Paul had no intention of going through another worm hole event. =^=Yes Sir, we'll be ready.=^= With that, the comm link cut. Paul turned to Ensign Klars. "Ensign, I have to go down to engineering for a few minutes. For now, you have the bridge," stated Paul looking at the young Ensign. Then he winked, "Try not to break anything." (reply Klars) With that, Paul walked through the doors towards the turbolift. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva-Medical Center-CMO- Admiral Gr'iann -1630) Gr'iann sat in his office, his head in his paws. He was trying to rub the pain away that was growing inside his head. He was feeling terrible. Some of the pain was real. However, he knew that some of it was embarrassment. He couldn't believe his reaction to the situation in Main Ops. He totally lost perspective. Order Casely out of the area of that ship, especially when there was seven minutes, especially when there was an opportunity to save some of the people on that ship, it was beyond comprehension. It was almost criminal. He couldn't figure out what happened. All he could think about was keeping Kaitlyn, Dr. Mackenzie, safe. He shook his head, rattling his brains. For some reason he cannot get that woman out of his mind. It went way beyond infatuation. He was becoming obsessed with her. Sure, she was very attractive, but the Caitian had met many attractive females, of a wide variety of species, and he never felt anything like this before. Even just thinking of her now, was causing him a certain amount of relief to his tension. Again, he shook his head, and it began to clear. He'd embarrassed himself in Ops, and most likely embarrassed Dr. Mackenzie on the Mithrandir. he was almost afraid of what was going to happen when they got back. Gr'iann began to rap his knuckles against his skull. ~Good going old fool. Fall for a younger woman and then drive her away. She'll never have anything to do with you now.~ It was too bad, because he truly believed that he had feelings for her. He began to idly scan through the medical records of the new crew members, who had just recently come to the station. When he came to Rogers, he realized that the Ensign had not had a physical since his entrance into the academy. In fact, he apparently refused an exam from a Vulcan doctor after his third year in the academy. It was his right, of course, but very unusual, mainly because he wouldn't have to do one now. It was just easier for them as cadets. Gr'iann would have to rectify that situation when they got back. His claw tapped the files forward until he came to Mackenzie’s. Then his paw paused and moved around the console, but he did not advance to the next file. He began to read Kaitlyn's medical file, finding some very interesting bits of information, including the fact that she had once gone through a pregnancy, without actually being pregnant. Something to do with an alien implant causing some kind of psychosomatic pregnancy. He continued to read until a noise in the triage area caught his attention. A nurses cry for help dragged him from his foreboding and he went out to take care of an engineer who had nearly burned his arm off in a plasma injector accident. (posted by Al Muir) (USS Mithrandir, Main Engineering, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1632) Paul walked into engineering and he saw the group of engineers turn and snap to. They were treating him as a captain inspecting his ship. In a sense, he supposed he was. It wasn't uncommon for commanding officers on ships to be referred to, or treated as, 'captain' even if they didn't hold that rank. He was glad no one had called him that at this point however, it would be too uncomfortable. Chief Rourke walked up to Paul. "Sir, we're ready for your inspection. I'm sorry for the error before Sir," stated Rourke his face an impassive mask. Paul looked at the older man and frowned. "We were lucky Chief, things could have been much worse. Once we're docked I want you to involve yourself in some simulations on the holodeck involving Engineering stations on starships. I'll send the details later. In fact, I want all of the Mithrandir's crew involved. I'll send you the training schedule later." "Yes Sir." With that, Paul walked to the engineering stations and began to check the warp field calibration. Things seemed to be in order. Paul made one or two fine adjustments. Another advantage of command training involved engineering training. There was no way that Paul was even slightly as qualified as the chief, he couldn't build the warp engines completely for example, but he was capable of minor repairs and adjustments. A few minutes after looking around, he nodded. "I'm fairly satisfied that we should be okay Chief. I want you to run simulations before bringing them online. Route the simulation results to the command station on the bridge. Then, and only then, will be bring the warp engines on line. We should only be about 5 minutes out by warp," stated Paul. He was going to be sure this time that things were working. "Yes Sir," came the reply from the chief, then everyone immediately got to work. Paul walked out of Engineering and to the turbolift. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (USS Mithrandir, Bridge, AFO/TAC/SC, Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 1640) Paul walked onto the bridge and toward his command chair. "Thank you Mr. Klars," said Paul, "We should be ready to use the warp engines again in a few minutes. Mr. Rogers, please notify the ship that we're attempting warp again and have them ready at their stations. I want you to be ready for targeting and scanning again just in case. Mr. Klars, make sure the torpedoes are online just in case as well. There shouldn't be a problem, but I'm feeling a bit cautious as I'm sure you can understand." (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Medical Centre, Ensign McLaren, 1648) Matthew woke from a light sleep. He was feeling restless. He hated medical centres and so far no one had told him what was going wrong or if he could leave. He wondered about that planet. He was able to stand up now so he did and walked to a window. Sure enough the planet was out there shrouded in its protective shield. As he watched a portion of the planet came into view that didn't seem to be covered by the shield. Matthew shrugged and walked back to the bed. Sitting down he called out to the computer. "Computer, what has transpired since I have been in sickbay." [Please specify.] The computer replied unhelpfully. "Report on anything to do with the planet that has appeared outside." Matthew said wearily. He sometimes wondered if they deliberately programmed computers to be difficult. "That information is classified." "Override, authorization, gamma, delta, 2 4 victor." Matthew said. "Working" The computer said. After a brief pause it continued. "Over the last six hours, an unauthorized shuttle has left the starbase and has headed towards the planet---" Matthew listened to the rest of the report and sighed. "McLaren to engineering, Status report." He knew he wasn't probably suppose to be working but checking up couldn't hurt. He listened to the status report. (reply engineering, room for more dialogue) "Understood, did the microprobes work ok?" He said. (reply engineering) "Ok then, carry on. McLaren out." Matthew laid down again and closed his eyes. He wanted to be out of here as soon as possible. His eyes still felt swollen and gunky but he could see ok and his head felt clear. ~Just have to wait until a doc comes to let me out~ (Reply, engineering, any) (Posted by Matt McLaren) [END COMPILE]
