We’d just like to take this opportunity to remind you that all carry-on luggage must be no larger than what can be placed in this silver holder-device. If your luggage is larger than that container, please proceed to the nearest reducing station – by port six – to have it adjusted. Again, thank you for choosing Virgin Galactic and have a great flight.” Korinna looked at her mother. “Mommy, I’m scared. I don’t think its such a good idea.. I mean….” Alice put her finger over her lips. “Now come on Korinna, it’ll be fun, and think of all the new people you’ll meet and the adventures we’ll have. You’ll like it, I promise.” Korinna looked at her mother doubtfully but said no more. She clutched her small plush animal that she had constructed herself at a commercial location. She squeezed it. “You’re my beary best friend.” The four-year-old said, repeating the promise that she’d uttered the day she’d fabricated the bear and put a heart inside it and its own bar code linking back to her address so that if he would ever be lost, they’d know where he lived. “That’s right, Albert.” She said, calling the bear by name. “Don’t worry, if you get lost, they’ll know where to send you. They will. But I’m not going to lose you.” She wrapped her arms even tighter around the stuffed animal. In the next aisle over from Korinna and Alice sat three men and one woman dressed in business attire. “I really feel that there’s a market base for that product. I’d like to have you take a look at some of the preliminary ads that I’ve drawn up. The colonists on the colony will inevitably be in need of that line, so the sooner we make the business agreement with its governing body, the sooner we’ll be able to promote it.” The woman’s voice then spoke up, “have we solved the supply issue yet?” Another man shook his head, “no, but we’re working on it. HQ feels that we should first secure the right to market and then we’ll worry about supply.” ~Again, jumping the gun.~ The female business executive thought but said nothing. Two rows over in the launch waiting area was a young couple. “I’m not so sure about this…” The young woman said. “I mean, that job that I was offered on earth –“ “Wasn’t what you wanted.” Her husband finished. “And this was. You’ll be great Christie, you really will.” “But, you’re leaving your friends and family –“ She began. “Marc, I can’t –“ “I’m choosing to go – it’s my own choice and I want to be with you.” He said smiling, “And besides, I’ve always wanted to venture into space, this is just an excuse.” Christie smiled as she embraced her husband. From another part of the waiting area, the sounds of heavy metal blared through the headphones of a teenage boy waiting to board. He, unlike many of the other passengers was alone. There was no one around him, no one with him, and he didn’t seem the least bit apprehensive about his flight into space. The passengers all seemed to be pretty normal, the average humans for that time period getting ready to embark upon a journey that would take them to Neptune. “This is your first boarding call for Virgin Galactic flight 077691 destination Neptune. We would ask at this time, for all passengers travelling with small children or who are in need of a little extra time for boarding please approach the counter.” There was some shuffling, as everyone fitting that description picked up their carry-on items and in some cases their children and made their way to the front counter that lead to the shuttle. Korinna looked at it and smiled, seeing the red Virgin logo written across the shuttle – it looked striking, the red against the white. But still, she felt hesitant. It was almost as if that red logo was saying to her ‘warning’! ‘warning’! But her mother had said that everything would be right, and so it would, wouldn’t it? After all, mother’s knew these things – didn’t they? She clutched Albert to her chest as her mother lead her down the ramp to board the shuttle. (Reply Casely) "Well then..." Arianna paused, thinking of ways that they could use this to their advantage. "Let's monitor his quarters and see who all enters and what they try to do... .Monitor the device, I don't want to lose track of it, however, I would like to know precisely who is up to these shenanigans on my station." Moving to his new desk he read a report about a malfunction plasma conduit that said his help would be most appreciated. ~Great five minutes here and they want help already,~ Allacard thought. He also read the party invitation. "Hmm," he said to himself. Allacard went to sleep and set his clock for the party's time. (Posted by Trey Reed) (Starbase Geneva, De'Charin's Room, ACEO, Ensign {JG} De'Charin, 1916) Allacard stirred in his bed. The long journey here had gotten to him. The rest was appreciated. He was usually in a hurry to go places, but didn't run because of his 'accident'. He kept walking and arrived at the door to his quarters. He was just about to enter, but suddenly felt watched. He turned and looked both ways and saw no one. ~You're starting to lose it....~ Brian thought has he shook his head. He entered his quarters and took off his uniform jacket. He suddenly felt dizzy again. ~What kind of....medicine did they give me?~ Brian thought. He fell again, but this time grabbed himself on the edge of his bed. He stood up again and went to the replicator. "Water, cold." Brian said has he used the wall to steady himself. When the cup of water appeared, Brian grabbed it and walked over to the table and drank it. He didn't feel any better. ~I know what will solve this...~ Brian thought and he went to a small black bag that was unopened lying against the wall.. Brian opened it slowly and inside was a hypospray and seven capsules for use in the hypospray. They had Cordrazine, a stimulant that Brian was allowed to take only when he needed to use shuttle craft. Brian found that one just before he slept helped him too. Being a medical major in the Academy, he knew the medical reports about how Cordrazine was addictive, but he never could be addicted to it. Brian threw one of the capsules into the hypospray and injected himself. Suddenly a feeling of happiness came over his body and he seemingly floated over to his bed where he passed out with a smile on his face. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (Starbase Geneva - Ball Room - Counselor - Ensign Kassia Marta - 2130) Kass noticed that the Lieutenant had the look of someone that was not so easy on their feet. She had been with so many men that had that look, so, it was easy to spot. She had thought it was because he considered himself not to be such a good dancer. She hoped that she was a great dancer to help the both of them and not get her toes smashed too often. "I suppose so, but I have to warn you, I'm not a very good dancer. Most likely I won't be very light on my feet and rather heavy on yours," stated Paul with a grin. What he just said confirmed what she had thought, so, she just smiled her reassuring smile. "That is quite alright, Lieutenant. I have had that happen many times; I just enjoy dancing." She said in response to him. "OK, well, lets give it a try then," said Paul hesitantly. "I am honored sir, and what style do you feel more comfortable with?" She responded to him. (posted by Frank) (Starbase Geneva - Ball Room - 2O/TAC/SC - Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely - 2133) "I am honored sir, and what style do you feel more comfortable with?" She responded to him. Paul considered that for a minute. ~Style? Dear LORD! Style? I'll be lucky if I don't fall flat on my face.~ "Ummm... something slow would probably be a good idea, something I'll be able to keep up with," said Paul. He was beginning to wonder what he had gotten himself into. (Reply Marta) "Incidentally, you don't have to call me 'Sir' or by rank when we're off duty. Paul will do. Especially after I make a fool of myself in front of you," said Paul with a grin. There was no point in holding up this austere idea of rank when he was bound to be tripping all over the young lady and tromping most soundly on her toes in an minute. (Posted by Jeff) (Starbase Geneva-Personal Quarters-ACMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-2200) Having had a pretty good night, Kaitlyn was in a good mood. She was very tired and ready for bed with all the travel to get to the station earlier and because of the party. Looking at her things that sat in the corner, she groaned. She didn't even feel like attempting to put her things away tonight, but she decided she had better anyways. As she unpacked, she put up several pictures around the place. Some were of her old friends that used to be on Geneva, some from the Paladin, and others of her family. As she looked at them, she could remember all the good times she used to have. Putting them up, she quickly got through her clothes as well and was finally able to get out of her costume, into some pajamas, and settle down for the night. As she was laying in bed reading, it wasn't long before sleep overtook her. (Posted by Charles) (OSS Sho'Kar - Bridge - Lord Captain Gled Forsch - 0745) Gled entered the bridge to see his crew sitting at their stations awaiting orders, with the ship docked, its weapons deactivated and engines running at minimum power there was really nothing for them to do except wait. Gled looked at each one of them in turn and then gestured with his chin toward the lift. "It is time. Each one of you has his assigned task and I expect it to be done efficiently. To his De'Halak he said. "After you have secured the offices I have need of notify me. De'Karan the area will be thoroughly secured against any and all forms of eavesdropping before a single item is moved in so move quickly once the rooms are acquired. And De'Shof; That list of names of the VIPs of Geneva should also include the senior officers of the station and Admiral LoDona." As he turned for the lift the voice of his De'Karan spoke out behind him. "And why is this necessary my Lord?" He sneered. "It is called making connections Joff, the stations' officers will not be suspicious of me if I meet the other businessmen first in an informal atmosphere and certainly not if they are in attendance. If they refuse my invitation I have extended amenity toward them and garnered respect and if they come I gain a measure of trust and begin working my way into their good graces where I can glean valuable information and there I can set my machinations into motion." As they rode the lift down he thought about his concubine he had had to leave behind, it had been decided with her on the ship the humans might be offended though the men would certainly have secretly been captivated by her and been more easily swayed so he had grudgingly gone on without her. ~But when the time is right I will send for her.~ His lips pulled back from his teeth at the thought of her sensuality. ~Leaving her behind was the hardest part of the plan.~ The lift stopped and he led his men out. "Make haste! We have a party to plan." He chuckled as the door to the transporter chamber opened. "Manipulation is a fine art I am told and so I will learn to be a master artist." The sparkle of the transporter beam did nothing to change his smile until he and the others had faded from view. (Posted by Charles) (Starbase Geneva, Counsellor's Office, COUNS Ensign (JG) Brian Rogers, 0800) Brian entered the counsellor's office and looked around. The other counsellor wasn't here. He had hoped to meet him....or her, at the party but he never got around to it. Brian shrugged it off and sat at the desk and turned on the computer display and brought up a full roster of the station's crew. ~Hmmm....which name looks like it needs the most help.~ Brian thought, when suddenly his name stopped on one. Brian tapped his compin and spoke. "Counsellor Rogers to Dr. Engtamn-Jensi. I'm the new counsellor and I am trying to introduce myself to the crew. I was wondering if we could sit down for a few hours and get to know each other." Brian said and waited for the doctor's response. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (Starbase Geneva, Medical Centre, CSO, Ensign (SG) Doctor Engtamn-Jensi, 0803) Engtamn's mouth felt like a retread tire. His eyes burned and he still felt sick to his stomachs. This was the worst experience of his life. He had heard some of the medical staff talking and apparently he had unknowing imbibed in alcoholic beverages. He was now the victim of what humans called an 'overhang'. Engtamn was not enjoying this one bit and resolved that he would never drink anything again that he had not personally dispensed. He just wanted to lay in the dark with a cold compress on his forehead for now. Then... his comm badge chirped. =^=Counsellor Rogers to Dr. Engtamn-Jensi. I'm the new counsellor and I am trying to introduce myself to the crew. I was wondering if we could sit down for a few hours and get to know each other.=^= Engtamn groaned and then an instant later hoped that his groan wasn't audible. "Counsellor? This is Doctor Engtamn-Jensi," stated Engtamn quietly, "Currently, I am in the medical centre still as a patient here, they are currently attempting to rehydrate me I believe as I was the victim of a prank at the party. Perhaps when that procedure is completed I can speak to you. I must ask you however, if this is an official call. If it is, I would respectfully ask you to school yourself on the aspects of my race and culture beforehand as it sometimes causes counsellors some difficulties." (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Counsellor's Office, COUNS Ensign (JG) Brian Rogers, 0805) Brian shook his head has the doctor spoke. "Alright, Doctor. I'll read up on your species and contact you later. Rogers out." Brian entered a quick note to research his species. Brian returned to the crew rosters and skimmed over the names, ranks and department of the whole station. He finished the list and closed it. ~Hmmm, I guess I should meet the other counsellor first.~ Brian waited for a few minutes. He of course had no appointments with any crewmembers, and he didn't think any one would have an breakdown, so he began searching the database for all information on Grazerites. (Posted by Kevin Schram) (Planet Riclia, Underground, Galicene and Trevnor, 0830) “Time. It’s time time time again.” Galicene spoke silently to her life-mate. It had been centuries upon centuries wherein the peoples imprisoned on Riclia waited for the planet’s natural cycle to bring them back to their universe. The story had been passed from human generation to generation. There were very few families left descending solely from those ancestors who had been spared their destruction and brought to live on Riclia so many years ago. Back then, Riclia had been a peaceful planet, the only squabbles had been between the north and southern provinces and with their trade and industry. Each claimed that the other had an unfair advantage due to natural resources or production facilities. The north province claimed that the southern had more access to space launches due to the planet’s positioning many of its re- phasings into universes. The two provinces had no ways to reconcile their differences and they had been escalating into conflicts. The humans had brought them together and for a while, their influx of culture brought peace, brought another focus into their lives. They’d grown to adopt the culture and the bits of it that had been left inside the USS Beagle that had survived the near-crash landing onto Riclia following the Riclian’s attempt to skip them out of the Subspace river. The humans had caused a movement of social change and it looked as if it would be a lasting one. However, what started out to be peaceful endeavours had soon escalated into more full-blown conflict as the capitalist and elitist values possessed by the humans who had crash landed on the planet and their subsequent attempts to colonise (through culture and language) the Riclians and their planet in the guise of being able to provide a harmonious way of living. But it didn’t take the Ricilians long to figure out that this influx of culture came with all sorts of downsides, and all sorts of ideas that were completely foreign to them. It was incredibly problematic because by the time this had happened, the Ricilians had become so unable to separate themselves entirely from the human culture and yet, so despising of it that they were quite agitated. And so the influx of inquisitions came about. People were imprisoned on both sides. They tried to separate the humans from the others, only to find out that their social fabric was dependant upon them. The situation grew more and more messy by each generation. The humans never forgot their history and longed for one day to be able to escape back into their universe. It had taken a long time for them to be able to understand the phasings of the planet. Finally, they’d been able to predict (or so they thought) when it would re-phase into their own universe. It was going to happen, and then, no matter what the Riclians said, they would get off this wretched planet and back into the universe that was rightly theirs. “It is time.” (Posted by Katherine Mazurok) (Starbase Geneva-Medical Center-ACMO Lt. Cmdr. Kaitlyn Mackenzie-0833) Kaitlyn had been up bright and early this morning, ready to start a fresh new day. So far, all she had been doing was categorizing, listing medications and making the place sparkly. Not many injured people came through unless they were under attack. ~Or unless you go running and bust your head open,~ she thought. So far she hadn't even seen Dr. Gr'iann. She suspected he would be the first person to greet her that morning. ~Maybe he's packed away doing reports...~ She was about to go ask him if there was anything else she could do, when the captain's voice came over the COMM. “Arianna to all senior staff – meet me in the observation lounge in twenty minutes. I want answers.” (Posted by: Stacey) (Starbase Geneva- Little Cardassia- Hatri, 0834) Hatri was in his café checking the profits from the night, they were looking up. He checked the chronograph on the wall, 0834 ~I will do well here; the bar alone will sustain the entire business. These Starfleet types are drunks~ Hatri settled into his seat and prepared himself for the day ahead. He was about to go into his office and start the day's business when on of the early morning customers, an off duty petty officer and her fiancé started staring out the windows in the main café. She shouted at the other patrons to look as well. She seemed to be hysterical. She was shouting something that Hatri could not understand. He walled towards the windows and as he looked through the large portals. Several of his patrons gasped. Out the window a new planet appeared, and it was extremely close to the station. This shocked Hatri but he kept his cool to not frighten the patrons. "It just appeared out of no where," one patron said to another as she gasped in confusion. Hatri turned back towards his office as several of his patrons were beginning to file out of the store. Other people from the promenade were entering trying to see what the commotion was about. As Hatri was about to inform his employees that the café would defiantly be closed, today an alarm klaxon sounded and the promenade went to general quarters. ~Well. they'll get the idea~ Hatri walked back out into his café as the patrons began to leave. He walked towards the rest of the curious onlookers, and hurried their exit. After he made sure the café and bar was empty, he walked out the big golden doors in front of the store and pressed the control to lock the doors. ~Well so much for today~ He headed for the turbo lifts at the centre of the promenade's walkway. The doors closed as Hatri exhaled and road the lift all the way to his quarters. This was the beginning of a day that Hatri was sure would be more than interesting. (Posted by Bobby Pirie) (Starbase Geneva, Main Ops, CO Lise Arianna, 0835) Everything was going about normally as it should. Or as what Lise conceived that normal on Geneva should be. She looked around Ops and saw Lt. Casely sitting to her right, Ensign Yalrath at Ops and a variety of other officers that dotted the main Ops deck. The party last night had been successful, it seemed that the majority of people had a good time. Dr. Entamn-Jensi had been sobered up and was recovering as normal. They still hadn’t figured out precisely who had ‘spiked’ the punch but there was an investigation under way. No doubt, someone who thought it would be an infantile joke. However, that too would be resolved. Things were gradually coming together onboard the station. The repairs were proceeding nicely, there had been a whole slew of new officers reporting in the previous day and to top it all off, they had made great strides towards the recuperation of Dr. Entamn-Jensi’s dark matter collector – it had been found in Tane’s quarters. They were just watching it now to see who tried to remove it, and who was the culprit. “Well Lt. Shall we see what today has in-store for us?” Lise asked as she looked around the deck of her station. ‘Her’ station, that would take some getting used to again. But she would. She would have to. It seemed like Casely was about to reply but wasn’t given a chance. Because all of a sudden, a vast array of klaxons and alert bells resonated through the station accompanied by varying lights indicating a red alert. “Report.” Lise called instantly. Ensign Yalrath looked at her console and could hardly believe her eyes. Lise could sense the astonishment emanating from the young officer. Yalrath spoke, “it appears, sir, that a planet has materialised next to the station.” Arianna whirled around, “Shields.” She ordered. She then turned back to Yalrath “What?” She watched the face of her officers who were, at this time consulting their control panels. Their expressions and feelings told her that they too were seeing the same thing. “There is a planet, it has materialised out of nowhere approximately 1500 kilometres from our current position” Lise rose from her chair and made her way over to the Tactical station where Lt. Casely stood. She saw what everyone else had been seeing. “Ensign, put the planet’s visual onscreen.” With a flicker of the viewscreen, Lise watched as a bluey-greeny-greyish orb appeared before her. “It appears to be class M, has humanoid life, post-warp civilisation, population, 15 billion.” Yalrath supplied. Tactical analysis Lt. Casely: (Reply Casely) Lise looked at the screen with absolute disbelief. “Engineering, we’re getting readings up here stating that a planet has materialised 1500 kilometres from our current position. Can you verify these readings, and that this is not an instrument failure or a simulation…” (Reply McLaren, De’Charrin’) It was a planet. It was there, and not four minutes before it had not been. Lise looked over the information and watched the replay of the planets appearance into their universe. Had they been cloaked? Surely they would have noticed that, it would have supplied some energy trail. This area had been well scanned before the refortification of Geneva and there were absolutely no planets in this area. But there were now. Lise was just about to open her mouth to instruct that they be hailed when the viewscreen showed the launch of a small vessel emanating from the planet. It moved further away from the atmosphere and was heading towards space – towards the station. Then, as quickly as it was launched, it was destroyed. “They’re hailing us sir.” “On Screen.” Arianna replied. The screen flickered an instant and the image of the planet was replaced by that of a female humanoid with pale green skin. She was sitting next to a male humanoid who had darker skin. The female’s features looked quite human in their appearance, whereas the male’s were more angular and sharp. The woman had blonde hair and the male, blue. “Greetings… “ Lise said, “I am Captain Lise Arianna of the Federation Starbase Geneva. We are members of the United Federation –“ “Silence!” The male voice boomed and cut Arianna off. Lise stopped her speech. =^=People as Taylor. No Safety with airbags. 911 we did. 911! That doth we risketh! To von trapp them we did. Von trapp them! And now!? Their dividends doth not re- runs! DOTH NOT RE-RUNS! Surgeon General – their Houdini – their Indie’s temple! SURGEON GENERAL – Their HOUDINI – THEIR INDIE’s TEMPLE! =^= And with that, the screen winked out. Lise looked around at the other officers on the bridge. All of them seemed equally puzzled as she. “Alright.” She said as she pressed a button on the command chair. “Arianna to all senior staff – meet me in the observation lounge in twenty minutes. I want answers.” (Posted by Katherine Mazurok) (Starbase Geneva, Main Ops, 2O/TAC/SC Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 0841) It was a quiet first day to the new year. Probably a good thing as many of the crew had overindulged or stayed up much too late. Paul was glad he had limited himself to a dance and then turned in. Tactical/Security was not a good station to have off its game. He began doing routine scans. The captain called out from her chair, “Well Lt. Shall we see what today has in-store for us?” Paul figured she was still trying to become acclimatized to her new situation. After all, he had over a week's more time at the station then the captain did... at least since the refit. He had began to settle in nicely, although he still missed the Nimitz sometimes. Paul began to reply when suddenly the station klaxons began to sound. An instant later, the captain called for shields. No worries, they had automatically raised with the red alert klaxon. The captain then walked over and joined him at his station. "Tactical analysis Lt. Casely," she stated. "Well... all of a sudden, this is not a very good place to have a space station sir. They do have warp drive, they do have advanced phaser engineering, they do have matter/antimatter bombs. In other words, they are intensely dangerous to us. I'm trying to monitor planetary signals, but all I'm getting is a garbled mess. Maybe someone in science can clean this mess up," said Paul with a hint of excitement in his voice. ~A planet? Out of nowhere? What he heck? Maybe the science division can make some sense out of this. I hope Engtamn-Jensi is sentient this morning.~ The captain was instructing the rest of the senior staff, when a hail came through. Captain Arianna began her standard speech and then was abruptly cut off from the 'diplomat' of the strange world. Paul shook his head. "Ensign Yalrath, run a diagnostic on the universal translator please." "Its running within expected perimeters Lieutenant," she stated. Paul shook his head again and checked the station himself. Whatever this language was seemed to be an odd mixture of English, but it made no sense. Finally the captain spoke, “Alright, Arianna to all senior staff – meet me in the observation lounge in twenty minutes. I want answers.” With that order, Paul began to secure his station and set an automatic alert system. If anyone on the planet coughed, he wanted to know about it. There was no way they were going to catch him off guard. When that was done, Paul strode into the observation lounge. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Observation lounge, 2O/TAC/SC Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 0855) Paul walked into the lounge and sat in the chair on the right of the captain's chair and closest to her. He brought up the scanned information on the planet and put it up on the view screens in the office. The information had to be ready for the senior staff when it arrived. It would be important that everyone had all the available information so they could each use their 'gifts' to help unravel this mystery. (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Observation lounge, ATAC Dorrin Klars, 0900) Dorrin rubbed his eyes wearily as he entered the lounge. He was still in shock over the events that just happened, but once his mind cleared he began to use the mind that he liked to brag about and realized something that he believed would be of use. However he would wait until everyone had entered before stating them, it was too much bother otherwise. He looked around and saw that the man who he was an assistant to, Lt. Casely, was already in the lounge. Dorrin had seen him on the bridge but was unable to make himself known. Which he knew was a bad thing. ~I would have met him yesterday, but I hate parties, especially costume parties.~ "Lt. Casely" Dorrin began, unsure of how to start the introduction, "Hello I am the new ATAC Dorrin Klars." Dorrin decided the best thing to do after that sentence was just to sit and wait for a response. ~In my defense, if I was good at introductions, I'd be better at parties!~ (posted by Dan mason) (Starbase Geneva, Observation lounge, 2O/TAC/SC Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 0903) Paul finished readying the lounge and then noticed an ensign in yellow. Paul thought he had met most of the new staff, but with the hurly burly the day before it was hardly surprising he'd missed a few. "Lieutenant Casely" the younger man began, "Hello I am the new ATAC Dorrin Klars." Paul looked at Klars and nodded for a second. It was kind of odd that he hadn't stated his rank along with that. ~Oh well, he's probably still getting used to it.~ "Hello Ensign Klars, it would seem you're my new assistant," replied Paul as he reached out to shake Klars' hand, "It will be good to have some more 'permanent' help here in tactical and security. You were told that you'd be doing duties in security as well I hope?" (Reply Klars) "I'm also the second officer of the station... and the acting first officer. As a result, I am often kept very busy. We have several active investigations going on. Perhaps when we're done with the Captain's meeting we can go over a few of them... at least at some point," stated Paul glancing over at emergent planet. (Reply Klars) Paul nodded and pointed on the planet on the view screen, "So what do you think of our new arrival here? And they say nothing ever happens on stations..." (Posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Observation lounge, ATAC Ensign Dorrin Klars, 0905) "Hello Ensign Klars, it would seem you're my new assistant," replied Paul as he reached out to shake Klars' hand, "It will be good to have some more 'permanent' help here in tactical and security. You were told that you'd be doing duties in security as well I hope?" Dorrin nearly winced when he realized he neglected to say his rank but since the Lt. didn't mention it, he thought that he could get away with it this time. "I was made aware of that Lt." he answered to his question. "I'm also the second officer of the station... and the acting first officer. As a result, I am often kept very busy. We have several active investigations going on. Perhaps when we're done with the Captain's meeting we can go over a few of them... at least at some point," Dorrin nearly grinned. He would become very involved in those investigations, he believed. They were what caused him to think the most, for mostly investigations involved taking the evidence, sitting down and realizing something from it. "Well sir," he began "hopefully it won't be too long until that happens." "So what do you think of our new arrival here? And they say nothing ever happens on stations..." Dorrin thought for a minute before answering. He planned to voice his suspicions when the meeting started but this seemed to be a better time. "I am concerned," he started "and for many reasons. The garbled English could just suggest that they had brief contact with races that had contact with us. But before I came here I researched the possible meanings of the random words. I only had a little time, but I know that Houdini, surgeon general and Indie's temple, while I have no idea of their meanings, are phrases that came from earth. Moreover they were used, and stopped being used, years, decades, maybe centuries, before we went into space and discovered other species. Which can only mean they had contact with us, at that time. Because they are a threat in a fight, and we had no knowledge of their existence beforehand, I am doubly worried." Dorrin finished and looked at the Lt. to see what he thought of his ideas. (posted by Dan Mason) (Starbase Geneva, Observation lounge, 2O/TAC/SC Lieutenant {JG} Paul Casely, 0907) The Ensign thought for a minute before answering. "I am concerned," he started "and for many reasons. The garbled English could just suggest that they had brief contact with races that had contact with us. But before I came here I researched the possible meanings of the random words. Because they are a threat in a fight, and we had no knowledge of their existence beforehand, I am doubly worried." Paul looked at the Ensign for a second and stifled a chuckle. He reminded him of himself when he'd stepped on the USS Nimitz that first time. Paul nodded slightly. "Ensign, I share most of your concerns. It does seem they've had contact at some point with Earth, or humans, of the past. I'm not sure that I would jump to the conclusion however that they're hostile. While they seemed most insistent, if you don't understand the language it could have been agitation or fear. They might have been warning us or asking for our help. Be ready for attack, but never assume it as the first response. I would rather be cautious and hope that we've misunderstood their intentions," stated Paul. (Reply Klars) "The truth of the matter is that most instances of war and violence are caused by misunderstandings. Remember the battles and wars with the Klingons simply caused by us not understanding their culture. We could have saved each other a lot of grief by trying to understand our differences and our similarities," intoned Paul, "I look forward to seeing what the science officers and engineers have to say about their physiology and their technology." (posted by Jeff Bergeron) (Starbase Geneva, Headquarters, Humans for Humanity Station Leader, Dean Benford, 0912) Dean paced impatiently back and forth in his office. He was not a man used to waiting. ~What could be taking them so long? Bloody incompetents!~ he thought. It was visible from his office window. Hanging there where there had been nothing before. The strange blue green orb taunted him, filled him with an angst. He hated not knowing what was going on, he was supposed to have taps and inroads everywhere, why was it taking so long for the information to be relayed? Dean swore to himself aloud and pounded his hand on his desk. His impatience was beginning to work itself into a blind fury in his mind. The only way to beat the aliens was to get to the information as fast as they could... if not faster. Dean was just starting to contemplate ways that his information officer could have an unfortunate 'accident' when his comm link buzzed. "Benford here." he stated shortly. =^=Sir, we have the information for you, prepare to receive.=^= "Its about time! Don't keep me waiting like that again!" Benford angrily replied. An instant later his computer came alive. Station scans of the planet routed in, stolen from Starfleet personnel, by Starfleet personnel. Benford wondered if they even knew the level to which they'd been infiltrated. A second later, Benford heard the voice of the mongrel Captain as it had been recorded: =^=Greetings… I am Captain Lise Arianna of the Federation Starbase Geneva. We are members of the United Federation –=^= =^=Silence!=^= =^=People as Taylor. =^= =^=Arianna to all senior staff – meet me in the observation lounge in twenty minutes. I want answers.=^= Benford blinked and then reran the log recording again. He paused the recording when the two figures appeared. The first, with the odd coloured hair, was undoubtedly not human, but the woman seemed... "Computer, enhance image of female." [Complying] The image clarified. ~She definitely looks human.~ thought Benford. He tapped his comm console. "Doctor Baruta, I'm sending you some preliminary scans and images. Please determine if there is a possibility that the female pictured his human," he imperiously stated. =^=Yes Sir.=^= Dean tapped another key, "Prepare one of our shuttlecrafts. I want to be ready to send someone to meet with these people. If they're human and being subjugated by this alien species, I want to be ready to help free them." =^=Understood. Weapons?=^= "Phaser rifles," came the punctuated reply. Dean wasn't sure if it would be necessary, but he wanted to cover all bases. A second later his comm buzzed again. =^=Sir, there is a chance they are human, but its impossible to tell without a DNA sample.=^= Dean stroked his chin and considered this. "Doctor, you are to go and assemble the infiltration team. Get them ready to go to the planet and show them how to collect DNA samples for you. They DO NOT leave until I say they do though. I want them drilling and ready for now. I'm hoping that the fine crew of Starbase Geneva can provide me with more Intel before I send anyone anywhere." =^=Understood.=^= Dean saw a sudden chance... a chance to show up the aliens on this station... a chance to get some allies on that planet.
