"Tell me about yourself." He finally said, "And include detail." "Very well. Since you don't want the short version that the Admiral and Captain got, sit back and relax because you will be listening for a while." John took in a breath. "Betazoid pregnancies are very much more fragile than Human pregnancies. The mother must keep care of the fetus much more than Humans do. Also, after the second trimester, the mother can usually feel the fetus's brain. So, it was not hard to notice during one of the many doctor's visits that I had a problem. In fact, my mother has noticed first and gone to visit the physician. She noticed that she could not only tell what I was thinking, but that I could also tell what she was thinking. So, she went to the doctor and the doctor told my mother that I had this condition." Capstain almost rolled his eyes as the Officer continued. The man was trying to give him a medical breakdown of how betazoids developed... as if Capstain wasn't a betazoid himself. "About ten percent of the babies survive. Normally when they do, they do not live more than twenty or thirty years because of some sort of mental overload. But you see, my parents were wealthy. I was born in a special facility where there were almost no Betazoids around. After birth, my parents were required to leave. There was a mental blocker in the complex, so I could only hear the minds of those that worked with me." Riis sat back in his chair and folded his hands together. It was time to get this show on the road. The arrogance of this man was almost insufferable, and the pre-echos of his thoughts were loud enough to deafen. Riis nearly smiled to himself as he had a thought, something that would ram home why this man needed training. He carefully spread out with his mind, doing the kinds of covert tricks he'd learned from the aulariate on Betazed when he'd learned to take down rogue telepaths. But he wasn't going to do battle, he was simply going to project an illusion. Once the illusion was set, he said. "Do you know that pigs can fly?" But that wasn't the question the First Officer heard. Through the mind illusion, Sasine heard nothing more then a gentle continuation of the questioning, to which he responded: "They did with me what you are going to do with me now. They would make me create a mental barrier, and then they would destroy it with their minds. Over time, my mental barriers shored up. The telepaths around me actually believed that I would be able to come out as a 'normal' Betazoid. But then my parents were murdered. The facilities funding fell through and I was left on my own. I lived with my grandparents until I was 18, when I joined Starfleet. But there have always been telepaths there where I served to help me with my barriers. That was one of the reasons Trace was here. She has continually helped keep my mind shielded, but it has not been needed much. The only time I really need the support is when we are in a situation when most of the crew is in pain, or highly stressed." ~And that can't be allowed, since we'll all be highly stressed~ Riis thought behind solid shields. He strengthened the illusion and said allowed. "Did you know the Captain and I sleep together? We've got four kids, all of them look like pug-nosed Tellarites." But what he sent in the illusion was more along the lines of a sympathetic question, and Sasine in Thrall didn't hear what he really said. And so, he answered the unspoken question and statements with: "I agree. Trust me, I've always been cautious in situations like that, sheltering myself a bit. But you have to realize that my handicap is also my advantage. The same thing that impedes my mental barriers makes my telepathic range farther. And not having those strong barriers allows me to bond with the crew in a special way. Sometimes, I do more counseling then Trace does." "How sad for you," Riis said comfortably. "The fact you think you can survive in this war with no shields, that you are trying to look for acceptance from a man who doesn't care a whit about you except in terms of how much trouble you are." He smiled, mostly in mirth, because Sasine heard -none- of that. He was too deep into the thrall to hear anything but what Capstain sent to him in the mental projection. If he continued much longer, the First Officer might very well pick up on the fact that he was being heavily manipulated, but that didn't worry Riis much. This farce would end soon enough. And sure enough, the First Officer responded to the impressions and words sent directly into his mind, not to what Riis had actually said. "Don't worry Lt. I must apologize about that. You must realize how this must frustrate me seeing my history and the current situation, but I am willing to get it over and done with. And I understand why this universe has no reason to trust or believe what I am saying. If I were in yours or the Admirals place, I probably would have done the same thing." "You have no idea how true that is." Capstain said quietly, "And you have no idea just how hard you're about to be slapped." But in the illusion he gave a sympathetic grunt and a suggestion that they continue. The First Officer responded favorably by saying, "Allright then. I have no problem with that. Lets get started." "We already have." Riis said, dropping the illusion and wiping the smile off his face. "And you fail miserably... again." This time he was utterly ruthless as he grabbed a hold of Sasine's mind and force-fed the man his own memories about what had been said, what had been sent and just how he'd been fiddled with. The First Officer tried to fight him, but Riis was having none of it... he kept a brutal hold on the man's mind and filled his tone with enough dripping condensation to freeze molten rock. "If I had been looking to kill you, control you and take the ship, or any other dozen things... you would have failed. You would be dead, or the ship taken, or whatever else the enemy telepath would have wanted done. You have no shields, you have no control, and you are a complete liability. 'In times of stress' you said, What do you THINK we are sailing into, we're at WAR soldier!" he bellowed. "Now, you are going to stop trying to jolly me, you will sit there and shut up and learn, or I'll have you removed to Geneva so fast your head will spin." He stood up, "I trust I am clear as a bell?" He released the man's mind and uncrossed his arms, waiting for the reaction. (reply: Sasine) (posted by Trout) ==================================== (USS Dennison- Quarters - Lt Cmdr Riis Capstain - 1720) ==================================== "No." Capstain said as the First Officer stood to leave for the fourth time since they had begun. "If you step through that door, you're finished." He stood up to join the First Officer, "You still don't seem to get it, I hold the practical power of your commission in your hands. Get that through your head or..." The First Officer, already pushed beyond limits (on purpose) turned around and tried mind-lashing Riis. Riis slammed his shields shut and let the untrained attacks wash around him before opening up and surgically striking Sasine. The First Officer grunted and continued to fight, but a few more mental thumps brought him to his knees. Riis was relentless, he continued beating on the First Officer mentally until the man was unconscious... but undamaged. "And that, you idiot, is why you needed shields." he growled. He tapped his badge, "Commander Capstain to Sickbay, I have a man down in the First Officer's quarters." (reply: Medical) Riis frowned and knelt beside the unconscious Sasine. He sighed and put his hand over the First Officer's head and closed his eyes in concentration. Now that the man was down he could lay the framework for what needed done, he quickly built the basics for shields and imputed the basic knowledge of how to use them. The man would learn or he'd burn out, there were no other options in this war-torn universe. Once he was done he stood, though he swayed a bit, inputting memories wasn't exactly easy work. The doors to the quarters opened and several medical officers walked in. Riis stepped aside so they could do their work before tapping his badge, "Capstain to Admiral Gr'iann and Captain Davis, the First Officer is not trainable in these conditions. He will have to be transferred to Starbase Geneva for intensive training. That is my recommendation." (reply: The Admiral, Captain, Medical, any) (posted by Trout) ==================================== (USS Dennison-Personal Quarters-CO Madison Davis-17:26) ==================================== Sitting back and relaxing for the night, Madison took in a deep breath and took in her surroundings. She was definitly glad to have her ship back...though it wasn't really her own. Knowing this would be the only time to kick back and relax, she took full comfort in doing just that. In her recliner, her feet kicked up in the air, she laid with a PADD in her hand, half in and half out of sleep. ~Gotta stay awake.....at least for awhile longer.~ =^=Capstain to Admiral Gr'iann and Captain Davis, the First Officer is not trainable in these conditions. He will have to be transferred to Starbase Geneva for intensive training. That is my recommendation.=^= Half asleep still, she blinked several times before actually replying to Capstain's communication. Shaking her head, she tapped her own commbadge. "Davis to Capstain, I'll want a full report on my desk by morning on how your efforts went with Sasine. Also, I'd like to see you personally at your first convenience." <> Sighing, she had a feeling it would come to this. Sasine was never a man of taking things easily, especially when it came between him and Cousellor Allel. Those two stuck together like two peas in a pod and were vertually inseperable. ~There's another part of my crew....gone. Just like the others.~ (Reply: Capstain, any) (Posted by: Stacey) ==================================== Mission day: 3 Stardates: 2407.01.19 ==================================== ==================================== (USS Dennison-Bridge-CO Madison Davis-09:51) ==================================== Madison was watching her bridge crew's response to the fact they were all about ready to initiate departing operations. Everyone seemed to be up on their toes, including herself. However, this had not been the first time taking a ship out of spacedock for her, so she was in a more relaxed state. =/\= Maines to Bridge, we're ready when you are. =/\= He said, reporting in. "Understood," was Davis' reply back. Knowing that they were all running at optimum efficiency and that she dug herself through all the reports, she was more than excited to get out of this hangar. Touching the communications panel beside her chair, she said, "Attention all hands...we are now initiating departure sequences. Everyone including junior officers are to remain at their posts until after we've cleared docking." Standing in the middle of the bridge, she inhaled, then exhaled slowly. "Lt. Lea, prepare to unlock docking clamps and set a coarse of your choosing in a general direction, particularly away from any anomalies," she added, but with more sarcasm to it. Madison knew and had some ideas of what she wanted to do before taking the ship into the current war itself....that would wait, for now. <> Mostly being focused on Lea, she was making sure she was okay with taking the ship out of spacedock before focusing her attention on the other officers. As the ship began to slowly move out, she noted the silent excitement that seemed to sweep through the crew. Hardly no one talked or barely said a word as they were all focused on the viewscreen, watching as space was finally enveloping the Dennison. Coming up behind Lea's chair, she said, "That's it Lieutenant...easy on the thrusters though." <> To her suprise, Lea seemed to be doing just fine. ~I guess this is where getting to trust the crew comes in handy...~ It wasn't long before the ship was finally out of spacedock, and Geneva was floating behind them. Looking over towards Galway, she said, "Ensign Galway, send a message to Geneva letting them know we've cleared docking and will be departing. Everything went just fine," she said with a smile on her face. <> "Thank you," she said. Then she turned her attention to Lea once more after Galway sent the message. "Alright Ms. Lea, I'll let you set your coarse now. Engage at warp 1 when ready." <> Heading back towards the center of the bridge, she noticed a few strange looks as she let the Lieutenant take initiative. That was partly Madison's way of doing things and partly half of a plan she was already formulating, for which they were to have a meeting soon. (Reply: Lea, Galway, any) (Posted by: Stacey) ==================================== (USS Dennison - Bridge - Conn officer, LT/JG Xara Lea - 0955) ==================================== "Attention all hands...we are now initiating departure sequences. Everyone including junior officers are to remain at their posts until after we've cleared docking." The captain said into the intercom. Xara sat up straighter in her chair and awaited her order with her fingers hovering above the controls. "Lt. Lea, prepare to unlock docking clamps and set a coarse of your choosing in a general direction, particularly away from any anomalies," she added, but with more sarcasm. "I'll try not to scratch the paintwork sir." She replied with equal sarcasm as she began tapping her controls sending power to the powerful fusion reactors. She noticed the captain looking at her expectantly as if she didn't have much confidence in Xara. "Disengaging docking clamps. Umbilicals retracting." She reported as the hum of power began to fill the bridge. "All airlocks are now seal. Engaging thrusters." The feeling of anticipation grew stronger as the huge space dock doors loomed closer. She had to admit to herself a slight pang of pride to be taking this new ship out for the first time and felt the slightest twinge of nerves as she did so. As they cleared the space dock doors she reported. "We're free to manoeuvre sir." She noticed that the captain had now come up behind her and was looking over her shoulder. "That's it Lieutenant...easy on the thrusters though." "Understood." She closed off the thrusters and only kept the manoeuvring thrusters activated to hold them stationary. Looking over towards Galway, the captain said, "Ensign Galway, send a message to Geneva letting them know we've cleared docking and will be departing. Everything went just fine," she said with a smile on her face. Lea relaxed a bit now they were clear. (Reply Galway) "Thank you," she said. Then she turned her attention to Lea once more after Galway sent the message. "Alright Ms. Lea, I'll let you set your coarse now. Engage at warp 1 when ready." "Yes sir. Course layed in at bearing 014 mark 228." She reported as she typed in the commands. "Going to warp one." She said and the ship smoothly glided into warp. (Reply any) (Posted by Matt) ==================================== (USS Dennison-Main Bridge-Chief OPS, Ens. (jg) William Galway-09:52) ==================================== Galway just finished running through the latest power distribution readouts and reports of another level 4 diagnostics of the Bridge systems. Apart from the slightly elevated energy usage of the maglocks and a couple of malfunctioning replicators, everything seemed to be running like clockwork. Not only Lt. Maines people done well but the whole design team came out with quite impressive work. For the first time since he arrived on the ship, Galway sensed a feeling of completeness - there were no more tests to do at hand, no more questions. Everything was working as it should. He let himself several seconds of relax just staring into the void of Starbase's hangar visible at the viewscreen. The hangar main door, the only door capable of passing Dennison, were far ahead at the opposite side of the enormous empty space. "Attention all hands..." Galway heard Captain's voice. "...we are now initiating departure sequences. Everyone including junior officers are to remain at their posts until after we've cleared docking." ~This is it.~ Galway opened a series of menus, displaying various vital statistics and ship's major systems' readouts. They covered whole working space of his console. He has been watching most of them since the very morning but this moment was special. This time *something* was to move. He could almost feel hundreds of pairs of eyes watching all kinds of monitors throughout the whole ship. He glanced at Lt. Lea at the Conn. Everything was settled between the Dennison and Geneva, everything and everyone was ready. It was up to her now. Captain came forward. "Lt. Lea, prepare to unlock docking clamps and set a coarse of your choosing in a general direction, particularly away from any anomalies." "I'll try not to scratch the paintwork sir... Disengaging docking clamps. Umbilicals retracting." She reported as various sounds of docking mechanisms filled the frame of the ship. Galway was observing the readout closely. ~So far, so good.~ "All airlocks are now seal. Engaging thrusters." The levels of deuterium delivered to the impulse engines raised a bit. The views outside started moving. Groups of people could be seen at the observation lounges covering the nearest hangar wall. A couple of smaller vessels were docked at further corners of the enormous hangar. The main hangar door started to open. In a couple of moments USS Dennison was already through. It seemed no one on the Bridge could held himself from looking at the miraculous void of the black space filled with billions of stars. The first to speak was the Captain who approached Lt. Lea's station. "That's it Lieutenant...easy on the thrusters though." "Understood." Galway could observe the propulsion data at his console - Lea hadn't made a slightest mistake. Captain looked over towards Galway. "Ensign Galway, send a message to Geneva letting them know we've cleared docking and will be departing. Everything went just fine," she said with a smile on her face. "Aye, aye Ma'am." He closed one of the menus opening up the comm interface with a number of predefined messages. "Message sent... Received... And acknowledged... Geneva wishes us a good flight." He glanced at the other readouts. "All vessels in the nearest vicinity have been informed of our departure, we have quite a space for any manoeuvres..." He turned to face the Captain. "All system read nominal, Ma'am." He reported with pride. "Thank you," Captain Davis replied turning her attention to Lea once more. "Alright Ms. Lea, I'll let you set your coarse now. Engage at warp 1 when ready." "Yes sir. Course layed in at bearing 014 mark 228." Lt. Lea reported as she typed in the commands. "Going to warp one." She said and the ship disengaged it's impulse engines coming to a stop. At the very same time an automatic routine elevated the amounts of deuterium and anti-deuterium delivered to the Warp Core in the Main Engineering. The processes in the Reaction Chamber got quicker and waves of powerful plasma flew thought the EPS conduits straight to the four Warp nacelles. The stars outside morphed into long streaks as the Warp coils generated the field that kicked Dennison into the subspace. The view was magnificent. And everything was working as expected. (Reply: none, any) (Posted by George) ==================================== (USS Dennison - Bridge - CSO - Lieutenant Jewort Trewe - 0915) ==================================== Jewort continued to oversee the science station. He was excited and fought hard not to show it. This had been the culmination of years of work. His baby was leaving the nest and he was here to see it. In truth, Jewort hadn't felt this excited since he worked on the Archer Class patrol vessel. Then, his new assistant interrupted his thoughts. "Lieutenant. The scans are continuing as we speak. I've already ordered a complete diagnostic of that sensor and I'll add the baseline analysis now, I'll also check the subsystems around that sensor, maybe we're getting. feedback from something, or maybe a mini EM pulse from the maglock itself?" "That is possible, but unlikely. The maglocks are touchy systems, difficult to calibrate properly. Ops has been able to compensate and we've kept things working despite my last group from engineering being hell bent on cutting power to the system. I need more data before I can begin the modifications," replied Jewort slightly more softly than before. At least she seemed to be taking the job seriously. "Sir, I'm not questioning how important it is, believe me, I know. I realise I can't comprehend how much you've put in this ship, no-one can, but believe me, I've studied you.this ship for an awfully long time. I'd better get back to the other station. The next batch of scans should be complete fairly shortly. You'll fix your ship Sir." Jewort looked at her with a steely gaze. ~Dear LORD she's young. She studied me? Am I really THAT old?~ "I never had any doubt that I would fix this ship, but thank you so much for your confidence in me," stated Jewort with sarcasm, but his voice had noticeably softened from what it had been before. He was what... and who... he was after all, but maybe this new assistant wouldn't be so bad after all. (Reply Bracken) Bracken went back to the auxillary station and the pair continued to work for some time. Jewort knew that the time of launch was fast approaching and he fought to contain his mixture of excitement and glee. He was going to see the Dennison clear moorings. His work was coming to a head and he was there to see it. Suddenly, nothing and no one mattered particularly much. Jewort just wanted to see the ship move out into space and take her place as a great ship of the line. Jewort watched as the Captain took control of the launch procedure. Handing it over to the helm, the ship began to slowly move forward. Jewort tapped into a station camera and watched the departure from both their point of view and from the main viewscreen. The Dennison was magnificent. Gliding effortlessly through the scaffolding, he knew that momentarily she would be in open space, a silver goddess drifting freely. Jewort felt an involuntary shudder run through him as they loped into open space. He turned to Bracken. "Ensign, this is going to be the crucial data collection point. We should be going to warp soon. I'll need everything recorded and logged from every available sensor grid. Make sure that you sort the data according to system effect type. Once we're clear and have the necessary data we'll go to the science lab and work on any operational problems with design," stated Jewort crisply. Dale had overlooked the fact that Trewe was from a warrior race, and would possibly respect her all the more for standing up for herself rather than being completely deferential and subservient to him. That wasn?t to say of course that he wasn?t due a whole load of respect, he was, and more. In retrospect, she observed, she was highly grateful for this posting, and glad to be serving under Lt. Baseline analysis is still running though. Primary stresspoints show no sign of any troubles. Data from Warp running will be auto sorted as it comes in, we?re recording everything already. I?ve added one or two protocols to do all that ? I?ll check it over first though.? Dale turned to Trewe before speaking again. ?She?s better than A1 according to what I?ve got here Lieutenant? (Reply Trewe) Dale had been distracted, She did here Trewe?s reply, but her eyes caught the view on Trewe?s console ? the external view of the Dennison leaving spacedock; awed by the beauty, she spoke exactly what was on her mind. ?Dear god if she isn?t one hell of a ship.? (reply Trewe) (Posted by Mark) ==================================== (USS Dennison, Bridge, CSO, Lieutenant Jewort Trewe, 0920) ==================================== Jewort listened intently to the ACSO's report. Things sounded like they were progressing well. He felt a surge of pride. The display showed the Dennison in all her glory. Jewort hoped that the captain would allow him to eventually run separation tests and was sure to add that to his report of things he figured needed to be done. "Good... thank you Ensign," was his simple reply. Dale had been distracted, She did here Trewe's reply, but her eyes caught the view on Trewe's console - the external view of the Dennison leaving spacedock; awed by the beauty, she spoke exactly what was on her mind. "Dear god if she isn't one hell of a ship," he heard Bracken say as he noticed she was peering over at his display on the console. He looked at her, still stern faced and stepped to one side beckoning her to join him in watching the Dennison slip into the empty void of space. Jewort dropped his voice, "She should be. She cost me several ranks when I broke with Admiral Doenitz, a position at Utopia Planetia and my second wife. Well, I suppose my pleasant demeanor had something to do with the second wife. This ship was everything while I was working on her. I needed to be here for this launch." It was Seemingly out of character, Or perhaps more correctly, out of the character that she had so far got to know. Lt Trewe it seemed, was not all gruff exterior. ?I can see why sir. Kind of coming full circle; laying the old ghosts down to rest.? (Reply Jeff iyw) They stood in silence after that, looking at the exterior view for a few moments, before Dale took her leave and returned to the ancillary station leaving Trewe at the main science console. As the diagnostics ran themselves, Dale took a moment to look around the bridge. She looked at the various people, various races, gelling together for the first time as a crew. She didn?t know where this mission would take them, She wasn?t aware of any danger that lay in store, what she did know however, was that each of the separate lives on this bridge, now depended entirely on each other for survival. With that thought in mind, and suppressing a shudder Dale turned back to the ancillary station to make sure that the bits of ship that she had been given to check were working perfectly, no less would do. He looked over at his assistant as she began pouring over data and information. Jewort smiled to himself and closed his eyes. He began to move his arms out slightly from his body and soaked in the atmosphere. Jewort could feel everything, every shake, every shudder. The entire motion was running through him. The thrum of the warp filed filled his person, resounding in the pit of his stomach. The strain of the metal and plastic throughout the ship was palpitable. Jewort, for an instant, was certain he could feel the very screws vibrating in their housings. Every sound, every motion, every smell, every vibration... they were all right. The ship was right. Taking a deep breath, Jewort slowly opened his eyes. He had attracted some attention, but he didn't care. He knew his beautiful child, inside and out. She was of him, and he knew her. Jewort turned to his assistant still collecting data, still manning her station. He looked at her and for the first time she saw him smile, "Its all fine. Don't worry. Keep the machines collecting the data, but we're in no danger. I want to go to Ten Forward. I want to see through the large windows, travelling at warp.. You may come." (Reply Bracken) "Just wait here," stated Jewort and he walked down to the command chair. "Captain, the ship is operating properly. Everything is in place. Congratulations on your command, the Dennison feels right." (Reply Davis) Jewort nodded and passed by the Operations officer, "Ensign, you did a good job at readjusting the magnetic locks. Many would have left the ACSO in charge whilst wandering down to ?look through the big window? ?Thank you Sir, that would be an honour? she answered simply, and honestly, It was, and a great honour at that. "Just wait here," stated Jewort and he walked down to the command chair. Dale watched Trewe as he addressed the bridge crew, dispensing congratulations here and there, to the Captain and others. With that, Jewort started into the turbolift, beckoning Bracken to follow. Dale tapped her code into the ancillary station, locking it, before leaving her post. It seemed odd, being someone?s right hand man so early on in her career, but she felt oddly at home here already, as if this was some place that she belonged. She felt the ship underneath her feet as she walked. True, she was no Engineer, and definitely no ship designer, but She had spent most of her life on board these ships, and throughout her life she had always noticed that the vibrations of the ship made her feet ?tingle? a certain way. She had always liked that feeling. With that in mind her psyche was more or less clear as she reached the turbolift, taking a place to the right of Trewe as the doors closed and the Lieutenant ordered the lift to 10 forward. (Reply Trewe, any) (Posted by Mark) ==================================== (USS Dennison-Main Bridge-Chief OPS, Ens. (jg) William Galway-10:20) ==================================== Everybody on the Bridge was pretty absorbed. Since the moment Dennison jumped into Warp everybody sticked to their monitors, analysing the huge amounts of data depicting the proper functioning of all ship's systems. So far everything was working perfectly and Galway was staring at the readouts from the power distribution relays all around the ship. The Indefatigable class was one of the few designs in the fleet sporting the multi-vector assault capability. In time of crisis or in purpose the ship could separate into three independent sections, each with full-scale fire-power abilities, giving a single ship an astonishing tactical advantage in the field. Unlike the Prometheus class only two of the separable sections were warp-capable, therefore only two warp-cores were present. Nevertheless, it was still amusing to watch how the power distribution systems of the two warp-cores were designed to compensate for different needs throughout different sections of the ship. Suddenly Galway heard Lt. Trewe's voice behind him. "Captain, the ship is operating properly. Everything is in place. Congratulations on your command, the Dennison feels right." Galway couldn't say he wasn't surprised by Lieutenant's sudden complements towards the Captain. But then again, there were many surprises already behind him and probably Trewe was in a real good mood since his own baby was acting commendably. But then the CSO approached Galway himself. "Ensign, you did a good job at readjusting the magnetic locks. Your intermix is perfect. Well done." William turned around to face the CSO. Although he succeeded at keeping his face straight, he knew a member of a warrior race like Trewe, would surely spot the stunning astonishment in Galway's eyes. "Thank you, Sir. Your suggestions in this matter were invaluable." He replied shortly. (reply Lt. Trewe iyw) Both men nodded to each other and with that, the superior officer started into the turbolift, beckoning Ensign Bracken to follow. Galway turned back to his console. There were many things the crew will learn about itself during that journey. He pressed several buttons in the comm section of his console. "Chief Maines, this is OPS. How are our little warp-cores doing? Any problems in the EPS grids?" He asked in hope he could get some kind of opinion about the design as a whole. Not likely however. (reply Lt. Maines) "And the replicators..." (reply Lt. Maines) "Well, that is great. Everything is fine here as well. So far the ship is working like clockwork. Thanks for the info, Chief. OPS out." Thus far, she hadn't recieved any express orders from LoDona or anyone else to follow any certain mission trail. However, knowing that the fleet was in midst of a war, she assumed something may crop up and some point. Madison had only popped into her ready room for a few moments to gather some information when her door chime sounded. "Come in," she said calmly. Before her stood Admiral Gr'iann. Someone she had not been able to have all the conversation in the world with. Then again, she still hadn't talked to half the crew that was manning the Dennison. "Captain, I believe that it's been a while since you've eaten last, and I wish to invite you to lunch." "Lunch?" She asked, almost as if she didn't know what it was. "Oh yes, lunch, I'd almost forgotten. I'm not sure, I still have a lot to do around here since the take off." "Well, Captain," Gr'iann said. "I think that it would do the crew good to see the both of us togetherr, especially overr a social setting, such as a meal. I believe that it will help the two halves of the crew come to terrmms with the currrent situation mmorre." Sighing, she knew he had a point, but was still reluctant to leave her own bridge after just getting it. "Mr. Gr'iann....." She had been about to say no, when she realized she wanted the same thing. Madison wanted her crew to come together, but she also hoped it would be on their own terms. She never was one for setting the example, but she presumed she may as well this time. "Alright, lunch it is," she said, giving in. "You lead I'll follow," she said, as the ready room door opened to let them out. The launch had brought no medical emergencies with it, and the young trill doctor now had enough time to finish sorting out his professional kit - everything was in its place, and the ensign now sat leaning back in his chair at the desk. "Computer, Play "Classical Music" circa pre warp Earth, low volume." The computer beeped at the request, and a string quartet started up, playing a piece the Trill remembered as "Canon in D", a favourite of one of the symbionte's previous hosts. ~It would have to be this tune, wouldn't it~ Nymes focused on the computer screen in front of him for his itinery for the rest of the day - his shift ended early evening, but the doctor once again found himself on as "live-call" - the officer likely to get woken up when the EMH was activated to respond to emergencies, especially when the EMH hadn't been live-tested on the ship. =/\= Crewman Fletcher to Sickbay =/\= Nymes touched a control on the desk. As the doctor entered the lab, he immediatly saw the reason he had been called down from sickbay - a human crewman lay shaking on the floor of the lab, his face ashen and his brow clammy - and his collegue kneeling down in front of him, attemptng to make him as comfortable as possible. "Doctor Lewis Nymes - what seems to be the problem?" he asked to the patient, as the stricken crewman shook his head with effort. "Seems to be simple spacesickness" Nymes said, as he scanned the patient with the tricorder " quite a severe bout of it actually - but we'll soon have you up and about: this hypospray should sort you out for the time being - when did the attack start?" The second crewman answered: "About 10 minutes ago he started looking a bit green around the gills, sir." "Right. Ok, Crewman...? I'm sorry, not sure what your name is - I only transfered on board today - oh, thankyou, Crewman Salone, please report to sickbay when you wake up - yes, you are going to be in bed for the rest of this shift - bed rest should see you fine by tomorrow, but I'll want to run some tests then." The crewman looked up and mouthed "Thankyou doctor," and stumbled out of the room to the turbolift and to his quarters. Nymes turned to the remaining crewman. "A standard report by tomorrow please, crewman - and back to your post." The trill left the lab and tapped his combadge. Madison had really expected more of him...but if he wouldn't listen to authority and proper procedure of command, then she didn't need him. ~To hell with him,~ she thought rather cruelly. Madison would find herself a better First Officer, one that she could trust. That much she knew she could do for herself. Breaking her thoughts, she glanced up. Everything and everyone was quiet. Things were working like clockwork with no problems cropping up. ~Yet..~ She didn't want to jinx herself, but then again she wasn't a superstitous woman to begin with. Livening up the crew a bit, she asked, "Lea, what's our current position?" <> "Good enough. It responded to the slightest touch of the controls so accurately and efficiently that she was still in awe of it. ~I'll never get sick of flying this thing.~ she realised. As she adjusted the course once again with out even thinking about it, the captain's voice interrupted her thoughts. "Lea, what's our current position?" Since the ship jumped into warp, the sensors were working perfectly. It was one of the last major ship systems William was examining in detail for the first time since the launch. So far none of the systems displayed any kind of even a slightest deviation from desired efficiency. More than that - so far all the hardware was functioning admirably for a design of that size and complexity. It seemed that many days will pass before Galway will learn Dennnison inside out but it was already visible that the ship would be more than capable of protecting the lives it carried. "Lea, what's our current position?" Galway heard the voice of Captain Davis as she stepped into the centre of the Bridge. A reply of En. Lea, in rather unexpected form, came right after. "Well lady's and gentlemen, if you look to your left you will find a red dwarf star that is the sun of an uninhabited system charmingly called E25. It has three planets that are all class I." She tapped the thrust controls and the ship glided out of warp coming to an almost complete stop before the impulse engines were fired and the ship slowly started gliding forward. "Davis to all senior staff, I'm calling a meeting at 15:30 in the observation lounge, Davis out." The captain said into her comm. badge. According to the protocol Galway immediately issued a text reminder to all senior staff, being a copy of Captain's announcement, in case anyone was not able to hear it. "Lt., you have the bridge for now. I'll be in my ready room until the meeting." Said Captain and with that she left the bridge. Lt. Trewe walked from the Tactical station to the Captain's Chair, yet didn't sit down. He tapped his comm badge quickly and ordered Lt. Marlous, his assistant, to report to the Bridge. Galway glanced at the readouts - the sector they were in was fairly empty. Ordering Lea to choose a random course probably wasn't part of any particular mission yet, so if there was space needed for any tests or manoeuvres Captain Davis was planning - they couldn't have find a better spot. ~Speaking of tests...~ Galway tapped a few commands on his console, opening a list of emergency procedures. A mix of old and new. Still, there was a job to do, and little time. Tapping his combadge, the trill said, "Doctor Nymes to Ensign Divay. Please report to Sickbay for your medical as soon as possible." (reply Ash) Satisfied that the newest crew member would be en route to sickbay, Nymes looked at the empty sickbay and restarted the long process of writing up all the medicals completed so far. ~still, only 2 more hours til some downtime~ (reply any) (Posted by GC) ==================================== (USS Dennison-Transporter room-Ensign Ash Divay-16:02) ==================================== Ash was on board in an instant and the last thing on his mind was waving bye to Archer family on Jammu. still he was excited ~finally my journey starts!~ thought Ash as he stepped down from transports,He had his PADD in right hand and a bag with personal belongings in left. "Welcome on board Ensign" said and Ensign when Ash's Comm Badge came on =/\=Ensign Divay, please report to my ready room.=/\= it was clear, simple and it was a order from the Capt. "well thanks Ensign but Captain just called for my i need to get this one we should meet again"Said Ash to the Ensign as he was walking out the door. ~She sounds hard ...well no body can beat my Ft.Bragg Drill Sgt.If i can work under him i sure can work under her~ Thought Ash as he stepped outta turbo lift into the bridge walking straight to Captains Ready Room. outside the door Ash paused for a second placing his Bag on the side. ~OK here goes nothing~ thought Ash as he rang the door chime once . "Come in." a Voice from inside came. As Ash walked in he saw the captain sitting in her Chair ~I underestimated her~ not knowing why that was his thought he handed Captain his PADD with orders on it. "I just want you to know that you won't have much time to settle in. I have a meeting planned in about twenty minutes in the Observation Lounge at 16:30. I expect you to be there along with all the other senior officers."Captain said "Yes Captain ,ill be there"replied Ash with a short nod of head. then something happened that Ash never expected "Welcome to the Dennison,"Said captain as she leaned foward to shake his hand. Ash was both surprised and relaxed ,he shook her hand and replied "thank you Captain " after that Ash walked out from the room feeling surprised and relaxed . as Ash entered the turbo lift his Comm badge again came on =/\=Doctor Nymes to Ensign Divay. Please report to Sickbay for your medical as soon as possible=/\= came the voice of Ships Doctor ~and i just got on board and i am already in demand ~ thought Ash as he tapped his Comm badge and said "Ensign Divay here sir ,Ill be right over" On the way Ash Came across number of crew members non of them were interested in this new guy ,seems they all had something important to do. ~am i the only guy with nothing to do ~thought Ash as he stood outside the sickbay door then he rang the door chime and waited for permission to enter. (reply ACMO Lewis Nymes) (posted Ash Divay) ==================================== (USS Dennison-Main Bridge-Chief OPS, Ens. (jg) William Galway-1600) ==================================== Galway was scanning through Counselling Department reports for any anomalies in the civilian crew's behaviour that might have surfaced since the launch. Although the general opinion was that the crew is somewhat stressed, none of the civilians on board suffered any major attacks of panic, space-related phobias, or that sort of difficulties. Suddenly his console started generating a low-tone repeating beep. Galway immediately closed the reports menu focusing his attention on the incoming data. "Captain, our sensors are picking up a freighter-sized starship coming out of warp at a course parallel to our own... It identifies itself as Jammu, a civilian freighter. Running an ID check..." He tapped several commands on his console. It beeped twice. "ID signal confirmed. It is Ensign's Divay transport..." A short series of high-tone beeps came out of the console as it displayed the appropriate message. "We are being hailed." "Put it through." Captain responded. The image of a dark-grey freighter appeared on the viewscreen. =/\=This is Civilian Freighter Jammu to USS Dennison .I am Ensign Ash Divay reporting for duty=/\= "This is Captain Madison Davis, we'll be transporting you over here shortly." Looking towards Galway, she said, "Whenever you're ready." "Aye, aye. Conn, bring us to transporter range with Jammu." (reply Lea iyw) Dennison fired its impulse engines slowly entering an intercept course with the civilian freighter. After about 20 seconds both ships came to transport range and Dennison made a slow, graceful turn through the starboard, once again entering a course parallel to that of Jammu. "Scanning freighter for Ensign Divay... Forwarding coordinates to Transport Room 1... Ensign Divay is being transported... Transport Room 1 reports Ensign Divay is on board... Jammu wishes us a successful mission and prepares to jump to warp." "Good." Captain tapped her commbadge. "Ensign Divay, please report to my ready room." Having given Lt. Khran the bridge, Captain Davis left for her Ready Room. The image of Jammu got blurred as it jumped into warp. Out of mere curiosity Galway plotted the expected course for the freighter. Nothing interesting came up, though - it was heading for a mining colony somewhere even deeper into the galaxy. Not soon after the new Ensign appeared on the Bridge. Galway remembered reading his bio. The guy had some training at Ft.Bragg, but looked pretty stressed out nevertheless. He entered the Ready Room but was out in under a minute. ~Wow, a new record. Captain must had enough of the visits from the new crew members.~ Galway smiled to himself. He thought it will be interesting to observe how the crew changes while it gets familiar with their new surrounding and new colleagues, and perhaps gets a bit rest in their new home. Almost immediately Ensign Divay was called in to the Main Sickbay for the Full Medical with dr. Nymes. Poor guy didn't even have chance to report to his department head. Everything else seemed normal so Galway got back to reading the Counselling reports. (reply: reply Lea iyw, any) (posted by George) ==================================== (USS Dennison - Bridge - Conn officer, LT/JG Xara Lea - 1602) ==================================== As the ship cruised along at impulse Lea continued to familiarise herself with her systems and adapting the helm to her specific requirements. A sudden beeping came from the ops station next to Lea and she glanced briefly in that direction before returning to her controls as ensign Galway reported. , "Captain, our sensors are picking up a freighter-sized starship coming out of warp at a course parallel to our own... It identifies itself as Jammu, a civilian freighter. Running an ID check..." He tapped several commands on his console. It beeped twice. "ID signal confirmed. It is Ensign's Divay transport..." Looking towards Galway, she said, "Whenever you're ready." "Aye, aye. Conn, bring us to transporter range with Jammu." Lea had anticipated this command and had already angled the ship towards the Frater with her nose angled down so that they would pass below the other ship. "Coming into transporter range in 4 seconds, standby." She said as the image of the Frater began to grow on the screen. A soft high-pitched tone emitted from her console and she reported. "Ok, its safe to transport." She angled the nose of the ship upwards once again and did a graceful starboard turn to put her back on course. "Scanning freighter for Ensign Divay... Forwarding coordinates to Transport Room 1... Ensign Divay is being transported... Transport Room 1 reports Ensign Divay is on board... Jammu wishes us a successful mission and prepares to jump to warp." "Good." the captain tapped her commbadge. "Ensign Divay, please report to my ready room." Having given Lt. Khran the bridge, Captain Davis left for her Ready Room. The image of Jammu winked off the screen as it jumped to warp. The ship continued on course for a few minutes when Lea began to notice a slight problem with her readings. They were drifting slightly to port, nothing to really effect there course at the moment or nothing that would be noticed but she immediately made a slight correction and turned to face Galway. "I'm getting a 0.8% decrease in power-flow to the port impulse engine in he lower stardrive section. Its slowly loosing power." (Reply Galway, any) "I'm dropping back speed by 5% to avoid taxing the other engines too much. We don't want a burn out." Yet again she had most likely anticipated another order. She had realised that sometimes people thought this to be insubordination but she believed in getting things done rather than having to follow unnecessary protocols that just, in her mind, wasted time. Heck, even the combined memories of the symbionte of the trill doctor couldn't remember the last time that had happened... "Come in?" The doors parted and the new crewmember walked in. "Ensign Divay? Good. I'm afraid these medicals are part and parcel of Starfleet Assignements - So if you would just jump up onto the biobed we can get started and you sorted out before Senior Staff." Nymes watched the Ensign's reactions - Strange to think that he himself had only joined the crew less than 10 hours before, and already people were following orders. (reply Divay) "Looking forward to this post?" Nymes asked as he started the basic medical scans and picked up a medical tricorder. "You must have thought you'd missed us when you had to get a civilian ship to meet us!" (reply Divay iyw) "Well Ensign, you look like most of the crew - youthful and in perfect health - if you discount the spacesick crewman I had in here earlier. If you need anything, Myself or the Admiral will be around in Sickbay - but feel free to chat to me whenever. Galway, still sitting at his OPS console, tapped several commands in the comm section of the interface. He then checked if Ensign Divay was finished with at the Sickbay. It appeared that both Divay and dr. Nymes were heading for the turbolifts, probably to get to the Captain's briefing. A moment later another OPS officer left one of the turbolifts on the Bridge and took Galway's post. The COO took a PADD and directed his steps to the turbolifts hub near the Observation Lounge. Galway just got there as Ensign Divay and dr. Nymes left one of the turbolifts. He greeted them with a smile. Galway and Nymes shook their hands. "How's things, chief? This is the newest ensign - Ash Divay - our latecomer, and a security guy: I think he'll be getting the graveyard shift on the bridge." "hey give me a break doc." Was Divay's unexpected response. Seeing his error he quickly smiled but still seemed as stressed as the moment Galway saw him for the first time. "Nice to meet you, sir." and shook the OPS Chief's hand. "Nice to meet you too, Ash. I'm glad we are getting even more people every minute that will be safeguarding our backs. And by the way, there is no need for 'sir'. I'm an ensign as well, and since we are in different departments I'm sure simple 'William' will do fine..." Galway smiled even wider in hope to relax the situation a bit. Still, he couldn't held himself from a little joke. "... but I do think you will be getting the graveyard shift." Galway and Nymes looked at each other as they both chuckled. Galway noticed the Ensign was still holding the bag he came with onto the ship. "I see you still haven't had the time to report to your department's head, Lt. Khran. You better do that at the earliest possibility." He handed Divay the PADD. "Here is the info about your quarters, basic Dennison's schematics and the crew roster. For more, you will have to attain a security clearance from Lt. Khran... And for now, it's time for us. After you." He let Divay go first and then followed himself at dr. Nymes' side. "Any ideas what the Captain is up to?" Dr. Nymes asked. "Probably some tests, maybe a mock firefight scenario. But you never know. Doctor..." He looked at Nymes. "I've seen on the comm reports that there has been a case of serious space sickness. As far as I know it was the only one, but I just wanted to ask if you are sure whether it was natural in its causes?" (reply dr. Nymes) "Well, I know Lt. Trewe wouldn't be happy if it was the inertial dampers that were malfunctioning so I would like to ask you if you could investigate the matter?" (reply dr. Nymes) "Thanks doctor, it will be much appreciated. I'm sure it's nothing but we can't afford to have any of such basic problems right now." After a few steps they have entered the observation room. (reply Galway, Divay iyw, [NRPG: check out the wiki for that reference]) Nymes looked on as the OPS chief and the new security officer got acquainted, and wondered what was going on with this break from warp travel; was it purely a techical test and tactical exercise, or something more fundamental with crew building - after all, half of the senior staff seemed to be fresh faced graduates. ~like me~ thought Lewis; ~but not like me~ thought Nymes. Still, it had been a long first day so far, and the trill's thoughts kept coming back to the promise of some downtime, even if it was on call. The temptation of grabbing an hour in the holodeck and sailing a singlehand catamaran or catching up with the old academy crowd from his quarters was strong, but anything the CO said would destroy any preconceptions about a quiet evening on day one. "I've seen on the comm reports that there has been a case of serious space sickness. As far as I know it was the only one, but I just wanted to ask if you are sure whether it was natural in its causes?" "Probably. I'm going to ask the OPS and Science to recheck internal scans and give me a report just in case - new ship? Something might be out of phase." Nymes replied. "Well, I know Lt. All three men took their seats at the long table in the centre of the room. "So what are you guys up to on your downtime then?" Nymes asked. Before a reply was uttered though, the doors opened and the CO walked in. Nymes stood up. "Captain, Pleased to report all medicals have been completed and our newest officers are all fit to fly. He hoped to discuss the full tactical abilities with Lt.Trewe, and possibly run a few simulations of his own once he was off duty, but noticed some action on the bridge. Khran put his PADD down and turned to Galway. "Mr.Galway, report. What is going on?" Khran asked. (reply Galway) "Very well. Ensign Lea, any activity out there?" Khran asked. (reply Lea) Khran nodded glanced at the chronometer. The meeting was not very far off, and Khran was anxious. The upcoming mission was a object of excitement for Khran, who was pleased about becoming a Chief Tactical Officer. Finally, the chronometer struck 1630, and Khran rose from the center seat and moved to the Observation Lounge. (USS Dennison - Observation Lounge - TAC/SC - Lt. Khran - 1629) Khran entered the room and walked along the table until he reached the first seat next to the Captain's. He pulled a PADD out that contained his report on the ship's tactical and security readiness. He doubted if the captain would call on him to make a statement about the readiness, but never the less, he would be prepared. Khran was slightly annoyed at the human junior officers making conversation has they entered the lounge, but Khran sighed. He was trying to lighten up, but had no idea on how officers could be so friendly during a time of war. Musing on just exactly how she wanted things to go, she finally decided it didn't matter, as long as the expected outcome was correct. Letting Lea take the ship out to her own picked coordinates showed trust on Madison's end, and good cooridances they were. Right in the middle of basically nothing...perfect. The first person entered the room, and Madison looked up. She recongnized it was Nymes, her ACMO. "Captain, Pleased to report all medicals have been completed and our newest officers are all fit to fly. The ill crewman is expected to be back on duty in a day." Nodding her head, she said, "Very well." Glancing at the chronometer, she saw it was now 16:32. Standing up at the head of the table, she saw that everyone was there. ~Good,~ she thought. She hated having to deal with certain trouble making crewmembers that thought they were God and could stroll in whenever the wind blew them there. But then again, that also was a Relentless thing. "Alright...I've called you all here today because for one, this is our first meeting altogether as a crew. Two, I've also decided that I'm going to initiate a training exercise of the sort." Starting to pace around the table, she could see the officer's head's turn as the made her way slowly around the table. "This training exercise is meant for many reasons. One, we all need to get to know each other whether it be personal basis or no. For that reason, that brings us to two; trust. Trust is a very important thing and without trust it would be impossible to run a ship together. Now...as for the training mission itself...I've asked Commander Lee to write the program for this. It is adaptable to your actions, just as most programs are." Eyeing Lee who stood by the head of the table as well, he didn't say a word, only nodded his head. As she finally made it all the way back around to the head of the table, she put her hands on it and leaned forward. "Now this training exercise is to be taken serious and intended for the reasons I've already stated. It will be battle training as this is a battle ship and we're currently at war. The Dennison, however, is to be caught up to speed with things. We'll start the scenario tomorrow at 09:00 hours. I'd advise a good night's rest...Mr. Lee doesn't go easy on these things." Seeing one side of his lips go into a smirk, she was glad he did this for her. She hadn't seen the program yet either, but that was only because she wasn't a hypocrite....Madison was putting herself through all this as well as the others. She needed to learn just like they did. What kind of Captain would she be otherwise? "Are there any questions?" So Ash hurried as the doors closed behind CO . "The ill crewman is expected to be back on duty in a day." were doctors words when Ash entered the room. "sorry got a little bit delayed" Was all Ash could say then ~there all gonna call me Mr.Late for rest of my posting~ thought Ash as he came in and got settled. As the Next few minutes went by and rest of the officers and senior staff came in,Ash noticed CO looked serious ~shes got a plan~thought Ash "Alright...I've called you all here today because for one, this is our first meeting altogether as a crew. Two, I've also decided that I'm going to initiate a training exercise of the sort." As the CO finished this sentence the images of Ash's last training exercise on Ft. Bragg came to his mind ,"Project X80" Ash slowly muttered as he saw CO pace around the table and all the officers turning their heads to keep her in view. ~i need to be here ,I need to hear this .~Ash thought to himself as he tried to focus on what CO was saying "This training exercise is meant for many reasons. One, we all need to get to know each other whether it be personal basis or no. For that reason, that brings us to two; trust. Asked the CO Ash slightly leaned to the side and muttered to someone on his side "when will we do the real thing?" without looking who it was he was talking to. The young Doctor had been giving a brief report with regards to the crew?s health before falling into silence whilst the meeting was due to start. ~That would mean that he?s the ACMO~ Dale thought to herself deciding to sit near to him, Dale nodded a silent greeting to the man, waiting a moment before speaking to him. It wasn?t unusual, quite the opposite, for Sciences and medical to work quite closely together from time to time. Then again though, Sciences worked closely with everyone; especially since the CSO was the Daddy of the ship that he was serving on. Deciding to catch up on something that had not long ago come to her attention, Dale turned to Nymes introducing herself. ?Hi, Dale Bracken ACSO. Trouble in Astrophysics earlier I understand, I?m afraid I?ve not been free much this afternoon. How is the Patient?? (Reply Nymes) Dale nodded, listening to the Medic?s answer, his manner highly professional, yet friendly. They exchanged one or two words but fell into silence once more as other members of the senior officers entered the room. During the silence she fell into a slight reverie, her mind on what was to happen in the next few days. No doubt that was the purpose of this meeting. Perhaps there would be dramatic revelations as to their destination, but Dale doubted it privately. She had taken note of their location and noticed with interest that there was nothing within quite a distance. One or two planets naturally, but none of them supported any kind of lifeforms. The CO?s voice pulled her mind back to full consciousness. "Alright...I've called you all here today because for one, this is our first meeting altogether as a crew. Two, I've also decided that I'm going to initiate a training exercise of the sort." She started to pace around the table, so Dale turned her head to follow her as she did so, perhaps comically, all the others did so too. "This training exercise is meant for many reasons. One, we all need to get to know each other whether it be personal basis or no. For that reason, that brings us to two; trust. "Are there any questions?" ~Quite a few Captain, but none I suspect you?ll give an answer to at the moment, and certainly none that I?ll ask in such an open forum.~ She decided to bite her tongue, Dale had wondered if the full capabilities of the ship were to be tested, i.e. the Multiple Assault Vectoring. ~Now that, is going to be interesting.~ (Reply any, none) (Posted by Mark) ==================================== (USS Dennison-Observation Lounge-ACMO Ensign Lewis Nymes-16:28) ==================================== Nymes watched the rest of the senior staff walk in, and nodded to the Science officer as she sat down next to him, and introduced herself once again. ?Hi, Dale Bracken ACSO. Trouble in Astrophysics earlier I understand, I?m afraid I?ve not been free much this afternoon. How is the Patient?? Nymes smiled as he repeated the report he had just made to the captain, "Everyone's been there and had space sickness, my sister joined the fighter squadrons and she got it from time to time! The crewman will be fine after a decent night's sleep - I think the stress of the launch may be part of the problem!" Nymes caught Dale's smirk with his eyes and was hushed once more as the Captain addressed the now full room. "Now this training exercise is to be taken serious and intended for the reasons I've already stated. It will be battle training as this is a battle ship and we're currently at war. "Captain, could I have a word with Science and OPS after this meeting regarding our patient - I just want to double check the internal systems to make sure the Dennison isn't going to make everyone sick when we hit warp 7." Nymes asked, noting the look of disgust on the CSO's face as the doctor suggested a mechanical cause. (reply CO, CSO; ACSO iyw, any) "I'm just ruling everything out" he finished. She made a few course corrections that would keep them out of trouble for the next half an hour or so and then stood up after flicking on the autopilot controls. She headed towards the port exit of the bridge just like a few other crewmembers had. (USS Dennison - Observation Lounge - Conn Officer, LT/JG Xara Lea - 1629) Xara entered and took her seat at the table. A few of the crew were chatting amongst themselves but this didn't last long as the captain sitting at the head of the table started the meeting. Lee doesn't go easy on these things. Are there any questions?" Xara leaned back in her chair with no questions at the moment although she was sure there'd be a few when they got into the training session. (Reply any) (Posted by Matt) ==================================== (USS Dennison-Observation Lounge-CEO Ryan Maines-16:28) ==================================== Ryan sat silently in the observation lounge, listening to Captain Davis speak and let everyone know about the upcoming battle simulation. He still wasn't wonderfully clear on exactly what was going on, but he knew they were at war and that they needed to prepare for hostile engagements with enemy vessels. Ryan thought back to two people, Sasine and Jeffrey Lyons, Admiral back at the Academy who had taught his Senior and Junior year combat engineering courses. 'Battle isn't a contest between captains or tactical officers or marines. It's a contest of engineering ingenuity.' Was the older Engineering Admiral's favorite maxim. He would always go on to explain how it was an engineer's knowledge of ship systems improving efficiency, increasing power output, reaction times to shields and weapons that would make or break a ship. "Ma'am, I'll be happy to help set up the training simulation in any way I can. Engineering stands by to assist." He said when Captain Davis called for comments and questions. I've called you all here today because for one, this is our first meeting altogether as a crew. Two, I've also decided that I'm going to initiate a training exercise of the sort," Khran nodded and smiled. He hoped for an exercise to test the ship's abilities, however, unlike moronic Klingon's, he didn't care if it was real or not, as long has the training exercise was in-dept and intensive. "This training exercise is meant for many reasons. One, we all need to get to know each other whether it be personal basis or no. For that reason, that brings us to two; trust. Trust is a very important thing and without trust it would be impossible to run a ship together. Now... as for the training mission itself... I've asked Commander Lee to write the program for this. It is adaptable to your actions, just as most programs are." Khran looked at the commander and smirked. Commander Lee had the atmosphere of a battle-toughened veteran. His simulation would be quite acceptable. "Now this training exercise is to be taken serious and intended for the reasons I've already stated. (USS Dennison - Bridge - TAC/SC - Lt. Khran - 16.42) Khran sat at Tactical, running passive scans on the surrounding area, however, his mind kept returning to tomorrow's simulation. He imagined himself saving the ship with an amazing tactical maneuver. He smiled silently. ~'The Khran maneuver'~ He thought to himself, and imagined himself standing in full dress uniform getting a medal from Admiral LoDona, however, Ensign Divay's voice pulled him out of his day dream. =/\= Ensign Divay to Bridge, can someone tell me where am I to report for duty, sir? =/\= he asked. Khran brought up his carefully planned work shifts he had devised for *his* tactical division. "This is Lt. Khran, your department head. Nymes waited until Trewe had left before following the rest of senior staff out of the room. "Computer; Time?" "The Time is 16-51 hours" Nymes let himself grin. In ten minutes his first day on the Dennison would be over, and he would finally have some down-time. "Ensign Bracken? How's the first day been?" (reply Bracken) Nymes nodded, knowing what it was like to serve on the bridge of a starship through one... two... previous hosts; once as a diplomat and completely out of his depth and finally as a CONN officer. "Well if you ever need a chat or a verbal punch bag over a cup of tea, just tell me" (reply Bracken iyw) Nymes walked to the turbolift to return to Sickbay and finally end his shift. (USS Dennison - Sickbay - ACMO Ensign Lewis Nymes - 1653) As he entered Sickbay, Nymes saw the night shift team arriving early, and the Petty Officer who would be the Nurse Practitioner overnight, in case general first aid was required. "This shift is finally ending," Nymes said to the rating, a middle aged human called Dylan Hedges, according to his manifest file, "Is your night team rotated on?" The Petty Officer nodded, "The team is ready - well, it is going to be me and a trainee nurse overnight - and if a medical emergency occurs we'll contact the duty doctor on call." "That'll be me then," Nymes replied. "Doctor Lewis Nymes, pleased to meet you, Mr Hedges, isn't it?" The two men shook hands and the ensign returned to the office, signing out of the medical terminal and picking up the PADD detailing the space sickness case. Finally, as he left the sickbay, the trill picked up the on-call medical kit and slung it over his shoulder. "Time to see if Dennison tea is as good as Earth's!" He said as he eventually managed to leave the room. (USS Dennison - Ten Forward - ACMO Lewis Nymes - 1708) Nymes strolled up to the canteen and collected a cup of tea. Looking around the room, he saw several crewmen laughing; busy joking around and getting to know each other. Separate from the crewmen, the doctor saw the newest member of the crew sitting alone in the corner - reading a PADD. "Hey Ash, is it ok if I join you?" Nymes asked, as he walked towards the ensign. "It's been good actually. I sure as hell know more about ship's systems than I did this morning. Kind of helps that the CSO designed this thing. I feel so lucky that I was on the bridge when she went out, It felt amazing. I'm feeling it now though, I.am beat." Nymes nodded in reply, his manner understanding and professional, but as well as this, Dale detected a friendliness about him. "Well if you ever need a chat or a verbal punch bag over a cup of tea, just tell me" "That would be good," Dale replied honestly liking this young doctor. "So long as you can make a decent brew." Dale winked impishly. Nymes smiled as he turned away and walked away from Dale toward the turbolift. Dale strode off herself, headed back up to the bridge, meaning to check the most recent run of sensor diagnostics, before she finished her shift. (USS Dennison - Ten Forward - ACSO Ensign Dale Bracken - 1710) Dale walked into the lounge, and headed up to the bar area, catching the eye of a bartender she ordered her usual wind-down drink; A good, strong, tea. Dale nodded to the man as he placed her drink down in front of her, took a sip and then looked across the room. As she did so she noticed Nymes, with another Ensign sitting at a table a short distance away. Dale grabbed her tea off the bar, and headed toward them. "Gentlemen." She said amiably, "room for a small one?" (Reply Nymes, Ash) Dale chuckled out loud as she sat down joining the other two Ensigns. One whom she knew, the other She did not, She had seen him during the meeting, so knew he was one of the senior officers, but that was all she knew. Even though it had been proven several times since in simulators and the like, she stil lacked confidence in her abilities even if those around her didn't. She stepped through the double doors of Ten Forward and looked around. Ensign Divay sat back in his seat looking at Ensign, "I was just telling doc what i like to do when i am not pulling graveyard shifts ,What do you like to do to pass your time D ?" Ash asked Dale Dale smiled to herself as Ash introduced himself, she was beginning to feel that this was a place that she could really be happy, especially as those around her were so friendly. Her time at the academy had taught her a lot of things, but none was as useful as the importance of a roup of friends that could be really trusted, they would help improve life no end. A part of her had been deeply alone, almost empty and shrivelled since her mother had died, but at the academy she felt part of herself warming once more. Dale was beginning to feel that once more with the group that shared this table. "Yeah, Ash and I were just talking about hobbies, D - so what about you? Are you the Tea and music type, or a orbital skydive girl?" Dale was just about to answer when Lt. Lea approached the table, ?Room for one more?? Ash replied, the Lieutenant drawing away the attention that Ash had been giving her. Dale chuckled to herself at that, She had always found that part of life quite amusing. As she had been growing up, and while they were at the Stellar Institute, her father had always been highly protective of her. Not that she couldn?t look after herself, but as an ex MCPO her old man often threatened to tear some helpless teenager limb from limb if he just looked at Dale wrong. Ash stood up from the table, walking over to get a refill. Dale turned to Lt Lea, smiled and nodded a greeting, but remained silent. It seemed clear to Dale that Ash was perhaps a little keen on her, but Dale was unsure how to play it, Dale didn?t want any kind of relationship as yet, she was, for the moment anyway, totally commited to her career in Starfleet. ~Do I crush his feelings now, or let him carry on and crush them later~ Ash returned to the table, sitting next to her rather than the seat that he had occupied before. Dale looked up again at Lt. Lea and caught the expression that she perhaps didn?t realise was plain across her face. "So Do tell me What do you like to pass your time with when your not working ?" Ash asked again. ?I?m a bit of both kinds of girl I?m afraid. I drink lots of tea?and beer. I love music but used to do a lot of marksmanship, long range stuff, I won one of the academy championships. I adore Stellar Chemistry and Physics and also medieval history. You know, on Earth anyway, they used to attack castles and stuff armed with nothing but a sword? Now that is bravery, covered in boiling oil all of them.? (Reply Ash, any at table iyw) ?I also love freeclimbing and base jumping, Daddy went nuts when I did that. Never done an orbital dive though. Nymes saw Lea's reaction as Ash returned from the bar with a refill, and once again had mixed emotions - a ~typical human reaction~ from his symbionte, mixed with the normal Gemill response of ~Whats going on there?~. "Have you seen the shuttle I brought with me, Xara? The Topaz? Pretty sweet bit of kit." (reply Lea) "How'd did I get the Topaz?" Nymes settled into the sofa. "My 2nd year academy instructor was a passionate pilot, and I aced the course because of my old hosts - Hennrietta was the pilot of the USS Eskimo back in the day." Once again, Nymes noticed the puzzled look as his acquaintances digested the fact that he had numerous lifetimes of experience. "And my sister was in the fighter squadrons, so was taught by that instructor before she was killed." Nymes sighed; despite the intervening years, the loss of his sister still troubled him. We'll have to see if the captain will let us, make a few test runs to make sure everything is working correctly." She said making big quotation marks with her fingers around the last half of her sentence. Nymes smiled once again - a run around in an old shuttle would have been boring, but with the Topaz? Any pilot would agree, anything with an NX- in its registration was special, and this shuttle was a work in progress too - CONN, OPS and SCIENCE would have a field day with it, improving, teasing an extra bit of performance from the scanners and engines. It struck him that having the Topaz on board would help the crew with a new project to keep their minds off the War and the day to day Dennison jobs - a project to keep everyone fresh and excited. Judging from the Conn chief, it looked like it would work. Dale Bracken once again turned to the Doctor: ?Sorry doc didn?t mean to crash your thoughts. Wandering Minstrels? I saw you guys play at the academy the once. You guys were really good. I?ve never had that musical creativity thing? "Well, we tried to please! I haven't seen Elenor in a while actually, I think she's still at the academy doing her command courses before applying for an XO or chief CONN position." Elenor Night was an ensign, being 2 years Lewis' senior and graduated the year before him, getting a post on the USS Bravado as a CONN officer, before being promoted to Lt (jg) & shortlisted for the Command Courses, with a view to gaining a Chief CONN position or XO. "As for Jimmy? He graduated with honours in his engineering classes, and I think he's taken some leave before getting his assignment - seeing his folks on the Moon. Now he could play the piano!" Dale nodded, remembering the jazz musician, and started talking to Xara. "Well, guys; and gals," Nymes said as he got to his feet, adjusting the Call-kit on his back, "I'd better go and check on my patient, make sure he is getting better - then I'll be off to Engineering to doublecheck with the Chief that the engines aren't going to make us all ill! See you tomorrow folks!" (USS Dennison - Main Engineering - Ensign Lewis Nymes - 1732) Nymes stepped out of the turbolift and entered main engineering, a busy, layered room arranged the warp core. He stopped one of the crewmen and was directed to the man typing commands into a console across from him. "Lieutenant Maines? Dr Nymes, we met at senior staff." The doctor said as introduction. "I'm just here to double check the internals to rule out a technical cause for my patient's space sickness - mis-alignment of something or similar? How are you getting along anyway, Lieutenant?" "Yes i enjoy good shooting practice my self ,You know i was Specialist Sniper in Ft. Bragg For special Operations Group. That said I am seriously prone to spending far too much time working especially now we've got this new toy. So Doc, how about you, what are you into." Dale tried to show she was not interested in what Ash had to say, Ash simply sat back and decided to just listen from now on. in between he heard Dales voice again Dale turned to Xara, a comment that she had made a moment ago had peaked her interest. "Nice to meet you Crewman i see your holding a science kit ?" Ash said looking at her small pack she held in her left hand. Crewman was a bit shy as she smiled but didn't say anything. Turbo lift doors opened "well this is me thanks for your company Crewman, maybe our paths will cross again" Ash said as he walked out of turbo lift he slightly turned and waved to the crewman As the doors closed he saw Crewman raise her hand to wave. ~someone once said if not successful once try again and again ,Thank you who ever said that.~Ash thought to himself and he entered his quarters .There on the computer screen there was a message [You have a Recorded transmission from Earth] Ash sat in front of the screen "computer play message" a beep confirmed this command and the message played. Nymes asked. Not clearly sure why Nymes wanted to go about this, Madison shrugged it off and agreed to it. Besides, they weren't going to start the training until tomorrow morning, therefore he had the rest of the night to finish whatever it was he wanted to do. Nodding her head, she said, "You have until the training starts tomorrow morning." "I'm just ruling everything out" he finished. "Understood," she simply said, awaiting anymore questions. The room fell silent and so she then stopped leaning over the table and stood up, folding her arms across her chest. "Alright then, everyone knows what time to be there. Dismissed!" Watching as everyone filed out, she then turned to Lee and said, "I really do hope your simulation is exerting." "Come in, " and the doors unlocked, allowing the trill to enter; and see that his patient was recovering nicely, reclining on his sofa with music playing. Admittedly, the lights were on low intensity, but the guy had just been ill. "How are you getting on, crewman?" "Much better, doc. I don't usually get spacesick, it's embarrassing!" "No worries - everyone gets it from time to time - if you need anything give me a call; Im the duty call officer this week; and if im in the training scenario the PO - Dylan Hedges will look after you, ok?" Nymes left the quarters and stood in the corridor. Apparently reaching his decision, he ambled along the corridor to the turbolift. (USS Dennison - Nymes' Quarters - ACMO Ensign Lewis Nymes - 1803) Finally the doctor entered his quarters. His possessions (all one bag worth) were where he had left them at 0800. He started to arrange his things - his chronometer; his sisters rank pin went onto his bedside table; the holo-pictures of his family onto his desk, next to the computer terminal. His one set of civialian clothes ended up alone in his wardrobe. Walking over to the replicator; the doctor stated: "Computer, access Ensign Nymes file; replicate uniforms." The computer bleeped in the affirmative, and started the replication cycle. The hideous dress uniform was first to appear, the spare day-to-day next. Finally, his quarters sorted out, Nymes relaxed and pulled the PADD out of the duty bag, and started reading up on the crew's medicals, putting names to faces. After a second's thought, he walked back to his desk and retrieved the battlefield A&E notes he had made at med school and at the academy, in preparation for the training scenario. Sleep would not wait long before it claimed her. She could already feel the icy tendrils of exhaustion in her shoulders and down her spinal column. Rest however, would have to wait a while before it claimed another victim. Dale was highly conscious that she had been wearing this uniform since some ungodly hour this morning, and had not slept properly since about 0800 yesterday; such had been the rush to get the shuttle from the academy. Hence, the need for a shower and a good meal, was a lot higher on Dale?s priority list. Sorting out the room, was also important, but that would wait for the moment. A short time later, Dale steped out of the shower, clean and refreshed slightly, she pulled on some spare Physical exercise kit that she often wore whilst relaxing in her quarters, before walking over to the replicator to order the comfort food that she often had on these types of evenings. ?Tagliatelli Carbonara, and a Guiness, 20^th century Earth UK pint.? The Pasta was one of her favourite ?chill-outs?, the beer, was one of her Fathers that she had developed a taste for. She took the plate and glass out of the replicator, and took them over to a sofa on the other side of the room, where hse put the glass down, and began to devour the pasta. After a few mouthfuls she put down the plate, and moved as if to pick up the glass from the small table next to her. Changing her mind however, she stood up, and headed over to her case, removing a picture and a small box before returning to the sofa. Dale opened the box, a lump forming slightly in her throat, and took out her mother?s marine service medals out, brushing off an imaginary fleck of dust before putting them on the table. She then picked up her glass and paused in the act of taking a sip. An introspective mood took hold of her again, remembering the last time that she was on board a starship. Remembering the photo in her lap she looked down to it, then lifted it up slightly. Smiling, despite her mood, she spoke to the the picture of her Father, making a toast with the beer before finally taking a large sip of the beer. ?This one?s for you, you daft old man... and for mom? "Computer, begin playing classical Andorian music from my personal playlist, low volume." The computer complied, and the works of famed Andorian composer Thraoka began playing. Kharn quietly slipped his boots off and picked up a PADD from the small table in front of the sofa. Registry confirmed it to be a Feringi Trade ship. A quick scan confirmed it was caring some Artifacts recently ordered by Concordia University in Montreal,Earth. Its present course will take it to Star base 5 where the goods will be transported to a Federation vessel. "OK,Hmmmmm!" said Ash as the Trade ship continued its journey .Ash checked to make sure that the Ships logs have been updated with this latest encounter. Rest of the Shift went on without any incident . The only other person beside herself that was present so far was Lee, and by the smirk on his face she could tell he couldn't wait until they ran his simulation. "So you're still not going to tell me what all is programmed into this thing eh?" Raising an eyebrow, she was always inquisitive, wondering about everything. <> Sighing, she said, "Figures." It didn't hit her until then, that it seemed like Lee was the only person she'd 'let her hair down' to on the ship. Mentally shrugging it off, she figured it was because they were of the both basic of command, in other words, it wasn't her speaking to one of her ensign's. Hearing the doors open, she saw both Khran and Maines arrive. ~I certainly hope this works,~ she thought. NPRG: Bumping up a few mintues here. (USS Dennison-Holodeck 1-CO Madison Davis-07:59) With everyone finally present, she placed her hands behind her back, holding onto one of her wrists. As she started pacing, she looked at everyone and cleared her throat. "Good morning everyone, I hope you slept well. Today is the day we'll see what we're made of to this point in time. Now....before we get started, I want you all to know that this is not a pass/fail part of training...I expect the best out of all of you. That's not saying you're not allowed to fail, you can only better yourself by doing so.....but in real combat you'd better be prepared." Taking a pause and letting that sink in for a moment, she then continued. "Computer program settings." As the bridge appeared in still mode, she said, "All right, all of you know where your stations are, lets get to it!" Watching her people hop to, they got to their stations quickly. Seeing that everyone was ready except for herself, she turned and nodded to Lee. "I'll let you take it from here," she said, as she herself went to plant herself in the captain's chair. "Let's get this thing started," she mumbled to herself. (Reply: ALL, any) (Posted by: Stacey) ==================================== (USS Dennison - Personal Quarters - TAC/SC - Lt. Khran - 05.59) ==================================== Khran was resting, fully extended on his sofa when the computer started speaking, rather loudly. [It is now 0600 hours.] Khran stood up and looked around in horror having fallen asleep on the sofa like a lazy teenage human. Khran shook his head and stood up. He went to his dresser and stripped his uniform off, and entered his bathroom. After a quick sonic shower, combing his white hair, and adjusting his antennae to their satisfactory position, Khran put on a clean uniform, put his boots back on. He headed to the door and stopped in his tracks. "Computer, stop playlist," Khran ordered. The music that had been playing all night stopped and Khran left his quarters. (USS Dennison - Holodeck 1 - TAC/SC - Lt. Khran - 07.54) After a morning workout (both in the gym and the phaser range), and a quick Andorian breakfast while reading the night shift's report, Khran entered the holodeck, ready and excited for the simulation. Lee, the mysterious Admiral's Aide and the Captain were both there. Khran nodded to both of them. "Good morning, sirs," he said. (reply Lee, Davis, iyw) Following that Khran took his position and waited for others to arrive. (USS Dennison - Holodeck 1 - TAC/SC - Lt. Khran - 08.00) When everyone had assembled, the captain began the briefing. "Good morning everyone, I hope you slept well," Khran looked down at the floor, embarrassed for falling asleep on his sofa. He assured himself that no one knew and looked up. "Today is the day we'll see what we're made of to this point in time. Now....before we get started, I want you all to know that this is not a pass/fail part of training...I expect the best out of all of you. That's not saying you're not allowed to fail, you can only better yourself by doing so.....but in real combat you'd better be prepared." There was a short pause, then, "Computer program settings. All right, all of you know where your stations are, lets get to it!" Then, a copy of the Dennison's bridge appeared around them. Khran smiled inwardly at the rush of excitement of the upcoming battle. Khran imagined brutal savage Andorians, thousands of years ago, in massive armies on Andoria, riding towards each other. ~They must of felt this excitement as well!~ Khran thought, taking Tactical. Khran watched has the captain handed it off to Commander Lee, then took her seat. Khran turned to his two assistants, who were also at the Tactical Station. "Be on your toes, I don't want my Tactical department to cause this simulation to fail," Khran said. (reply Divay, Marlous, iyw) Khran then turned his attention to center stage and watched the simulation begin. (reply all, Divay, Marlous, any) (Posted by Kevin Schram) ==================================== (USS Dennison - Holodeck - Chief Conn Officer, LT/JG Xara Lea - 0758) ==================================== Lea walked briskly into the holodeck. Thankfully she noticed that she was not the last person to arrive. She stood with the other officers present and listened to the captain as she got them underway. "Good morning everyone, I hope you slept well. Today is the day we'll see what we're made of to this point in time. Now....before we get started, I want you all to know that this is not a pass/fail part of training...I expect the best out of all of you. That's not saying you're not allowed to fail, you can only better yourself by doing so.....but in real combat you'd better be prepared. Computer program settings." As the bridge appeared in still mode, she said, "All right, all of you know where your stations are, lets get to it!" Xara walked to the Conn and took her place. She could feel excitement building within her. She hadn't been in true combat since the academy all those years ago and was keen to put this new ship through its paces. Captain Davis had wanted all of them here for this exercise and he had done his best to help design the program to her specifications. It would serve well enough to be sure, but he was still nervous even though it was a simulation. His Federation hadn't been to real war since the Dominion War, but he hadn't fought much in that. This Federation was deeply embattled and he could only hope he had done a good enough job programming the simulation to be accurate. He flashed a slight smile to each of the officers present, nodding to each in turn as they took their stations. In the real battle of course he would be staying in main engineering where he could do the most good, but Captain Davis wanted everyone present, so here he was. Ablutions complete, he dressed and finally got the coffee his mind was crying out for, and left his quarters for the Sickbay. (USS Dennison - Sickbay - ACMO Ensign Lewis Nymes - 0645) Walking in, coffee in hand, the doctor nodded at the Petty Officer, and walked into his office, beckoning the PO forward. "Anything to report?" he asked. "Nothing sir, well, just a minor cut from engineering, all regenerated now, and report is filed." "Good stuff, Mr Hedges." Nymes glanced down at the computer terminal, and typed in his unlock code. One message; yet another transfer medical request. Accessing the file; Nymes tried to suppress his surprise at the officer's biography as it appeared. "The Dennison might not be so boring after all" he said under his breath. "Sir? What do you mean?" "Ensign Elenor Night is getting transferred here along with our new FO as Assistant CONN. I knew her at the academy - fantastic person all round!" "As you say sir," said the nurse, sardonically. "Mr Hedges, I am being drafted into the Scenario this morning, so If you be so kind to cover sickbay, and organise an appointment for Ensign Divay with me as soon as the training on the holodeck is over, I would be thankful." "Consider it done, sir." "Dismissed." Nymes sat back and allowed himself to think back to the academy and the Jazz Band he was in with Elenor Night. It was turning out to be a strange few days... (USS Dennison - Holodeck 1 - ACMO Ensign Lewis Nymes - 0800) Nymes set to, and joined Ensign Bracken at the Science station for the scenario, knowing that he would be stationed in Sickbay in a real firefight, or running around with a Emergency team anywhere on the ship. The trill collected the Emergency medical kit and slung it over his shoulder, nodded to Dale, and waited for the scenario to begin. Dale asked of the alarm call as She sat up and headed to the Replicator. ?Unknown request please reitterate? ?Disregard, reset alarm? Dale answered with a chuckle. It wasn?t often that she was in such a good mood at this hour, but this seemed to be one of those days. ?Coffee, Earth 20^th century. Jamaican Blue mountain, black? Dale always enjoyed the somewhat perverse game of trying to confuse hell out of the replicator software. So far, she hadn?t won, but she knew tht one day she would get a milkshake instead of a tea, and on that day she would be in a really good mood all day. ?Also, give me a bacon sandwhich, also Earth circa 20^th century, with English mustard? The breakfast had been her father?s favourite when he was still serving as an MCPO. He always maintained a love of history, especially with the lands and culture of his forefathers. Tomorrow, Dale promised, it would be marmite on toast, lets see if the replicator knows what marmite is. ~Hell I?m not certain I know what it is~ Dale ate her breakfast, the smell of the coffee and the aromatic sting of the mustard seeping through her quarters. As she finished off, she put the plate back on the replicator, before heading into the bathroom. (USS Dennison ? Science Labs - ACSO Ensign Dale Bracken - 0645) Dale passed by the CSO?s Office as she headed toward the Science Labs. Trewe wasn?t about yet, or more correctly, if he was, he wasn?t about here yet, Dale had no doubt that he was up and on duty somewhere. She entered one of the labs where she encountered a sole Crewman, who was attending one of the panels. ?Dear god man, what time is it? Just you here?? ?Yes sir, just me. Crewman Sanders Sir. It?s O648 Sir? He stiffened slightly to attention as she spoke to him. Dale looked at the earnest young recruit, perhaps only 20, though may be a little older. She decided to make some small talk with this young man, he must be a little nervous ? first tour and all. ?At ease man. Too early. First trip?? ?Yes Sir? ?It shows. Relax, you?re not in the marines. Fresh on board Recruit Sanders? Nervous?? ?Yes sir. Assigned just yesterday at Geneva sir.? ?Me too. I?ve been on board these things all my life before the academy though. You get used to it.? Dale remembered something. ?No space sickness?? ?No sir, nothing at all sir? Dale smiled at this young man. He was obviously so excited about being on board that he was on duty over 2 hours early. Using the honorific ?Sir? virtually every other word. She decided to help the poor chap out. ?Crewman, you?re 2 hours early for duty.? She put her hand on his shoulder ?Chill out. There?s lots of space ? you won?t miss anything. Do me a favour?? ?Of course Sir? ?Two things. Don?t call me ?Sir? at this ridiculous hour of the morning. You call me ?Sir? and I start looking for my father. Just ?Ensign? will do.? Dale saw Sanders smile and blush slightly. ?Second?? Dale handed him her empty coffee cup ?Fill this for me?black, strong. No sugar. And then? go?somewhere, comeback when it?s your duty shift. You?re early man get some breakfast, go exercise, anything.? Sanders laughed, taking the cup from her. ?Yes sir, I?d be happy to. Just keen to get on sir.? ?Of course? Dale replied ?don?t burn out on me though ? I need all the people we?ve got. Do you want to tell the Lieutenant why you can?t come on duty when you?ve burnt yourself out?go!? laughing as he headed to the nearest replicator. (USS Dennison ? Taking a pause and letting that sink in for a moment, she then continued. "Computer program settings." As the bridge appeared in still mode, she said, "All right, all of you know where your stations are, lets get to it!" Dale had listened to the captain?s speech with increasing nervousness. She closed her eyes forcing herself to relax. She gave herself one second more to be on edge before she pulled out all the stops, promising herself that she would perform today at the peak of her ability, and beyond if possible. ~one~ Upon the Captain?s dismissal, all the assembled officers turned around and headed to their duty stations. Upon reaching the science station, Dale hit the unlocking codes and then paused slightly, taking a look around her. Nymes had joined her, normally of course he would be at sickbay, or somewhere, anywhere but here, but orders were orders. Nymes nodded to her, She smiled in return and winked impishly. ?Wassup doc?? she murmered to him (reply any) (posted by Mark) ==================================== (USS Dennison - Holodeck 1 - Ensign Divay - 0755) ==================================== Ash walked into the Holodeck sighting Captain and Lt.Lee talking to Lt.Khran, he proceeded to them "Goodmorning Capt,Lt.Lee and Lt.Khran" Ash looked at Lt.
