The last flight we took gave th' cloak a severe beatin', I wouldna recommend we use it again." "Doc" Peabody nodded and looked back to the launcher that was designed previous. It would work. It would also take time. Peabody wasn't sure how much time they had until the next disaster, but he was positive his girl couldn't take much more of it before they could simply not repair the battered vessel any further. "Good enough. We need to get the core online so we can use this launcher. Our next focus will need to be this device. I'm handing out PADDs now of the design. Damage control teams Alpha will handle material gathering. Team Beta will handle the initial setup and contruction. You'll need to setup around the ship and work with the details on this PADD. The other teams will start to repair everything they can before we launch. We need power, we need impulse, warp, hull integrity, shields and a stable operating engineering system. We don't have much time, so work as if the next few hours are our last. Get to it!" The teams split up quickly as Walter looked around the room. The Spectre was in bad shape. She wasn't in any kind of fighting ability. They would need to use every inch of knowledge they had to put her back in the air. And it wouldn't be easy. He looked up. "Orde? Word with you for a second?" (orde) Peabody pulled over a PADD with the plans of the new launcher. "I just sent men out to start this project. Any thoughts on it working?" (orde) (Spectre, Outside the Spectre- ACEO Peabody - 18.15) It had been a little over an hour since Peabody had dismissed them the find supplies and began constructing the launcher. There was still hope in the eyes of the men and women who served under Peabody, but it was dimming with the passing minutes. The Doctor had spent most of his time outside the ship working with the Beta shift in determining whether or not the Spectre would be able to withstand the launch. For the moment, most were agreeing she could. "Engineering, report?" The Doc glanced up to the sky. "We're still working on the launcher. Supplies are nearly gathered and the construction teams are already starting to move pieces around. I would say we're at least four hours away from launch." He said four hours, but in his mind he was finding ways to make it three or if a miracle of God occured, two hours. There wasn't much realistic estimations going on in engineering at the moment, but for now, it was going to have to do. "We'll keep working to get her back in the air." "Understood." The channel closed and Peabody looked back at the haggard and tired officers. They showed no signs of letting go of this idea and Peabody loved them even more for it. "Very well. You heard it. We've got limited time. Let's do this thing gents!" A scowl from the women made him smile. "The wonderful ladies of engineering are included of course." This earned him a few soft punches in the arm as they began to scramble to the sides of the ship as supplies arrived from the Alpha team. They began to work while Peabody called the other teams into construction mode. There wasn't a moment to lose. (reply any) (posted by adelay) (unknown place of captivity, Kahila Lono, 18:15) Kahila sat and talked softly with the other three crewmembers who had undergone the strange testing by the aliens. She was concerned about the condition of one young woman, who was hard to draw out, seemed trapped within her own thoughts. Kahila's attention was drawn then, to her inner link with Pierce, who said: ~Kahlia, if you can hear me, let me know if you want the running commentary.~ She replied, ~Yes, I'd appreciate that, Pierce. You're back on the Spectre, aren't you?~ reply Orde posted by Josephine Goodman <> (USS Spectre: Corridor outside Stellar Cartography - TAC/SC Orde - 1818) ::Yes, I'd appreciate that, Pierce. You're back on the Spectre, aren't you?~ He heard in reply. ~Yes. The captain picked me up.~ "Minimal, three substantial objects approaching Stellar Cartography from section alpha-three. Something appears to interfere with the internal sensors, we were unable to determine much other than that the objects appear to generate an energy field considerably greater in intensity than the drones we have encountered thus far." ~Wahoo,~ Pierce thought. He signaled to his officers to get into position. Checking his HUD, he uplinked to the internal sensors and noted the presence of two anomalies within Stellar Cartography anomalies approach the doors. The three anomalies marched right out into the room, not pausing at all. Pierce's security detail watched them warily. "Lt. these would appear also to be drones, although substantially more advanced than those previously encountered. I would advise caution." ~Really, now? Two shiny drones and you advise caution?~ "Unknown drones, stop and raise your appendages into the air," he commanded. Neither drone responded. A quick signal later, and he and his detail took aim and opened fire, becoming slightly miffed when the beams traveled through the drones and hit the bulkheads. ~That's going to leave a mark.~ "They are holographic in nature however the photonic signature is dissimilar to anything i have previously encountered, they are also not the energy signature previously detected; it is now within stellar cartography," Soval reported. ~Thought so.~ "Agent, set your tricorder to broadcast on frequency 34.321 with encryption protocal Maxa-Zeta-Three. I'd prefer to see what you're seeing. Marx, Conway, keep an eye on our photonic friends; the rest of you, we're going to check out Stellar Cartography." Marx and Conway nodded, keeping pace with the drones. Captain Remae arrived on the scene with a few more security officers flanking him. "Follow me," he ordered. (USS Spectre: Stellar Cartography - TAC/SC Orde - 1835) Orde followed Remae inside. "Pierce, kill computer access to this room. I don't want them accessing our database." "Aye, sir." A quick uplink later, he cut off access to the room, and then was slightly surprised to see circumvention of his cut offs. Another signal to Engineering, and power was cut. ~That'll take care of it.~ "Soval, can we set the phasers to emit a photonic disruption and take these holograms offline?" ~Oh, great... they didn't like that.~ he thought/sent as the drones turned and fired. Orde threw himself out of the way of one of the blasts, quickly taking cover behind a console. ~Shazbot.~ He saw the captain hurled against the wall near the console. Grabbing the captain, he pulled him into cover. "Report," he breathed into the comm. =/\=Jackson here; we're behind cover. Marquette is down, apparently stunned. Boyers and Flutet are simarily covered.=/\= =/\=Boyers here. I'm with Agent Soval, and we're relatively unharmed.=/\= =/\=Flutet here. I've pulled Marquette out of the way, sir. She appears stunned.=/\= "Understood. Hold your positions. Captain Remae is with me." ~Have any ideas, Kahlia? Photonic/Holographic drones without any apparent source of transmission are attempting to access databases. We've cut off power, and now we're under fire.~ (Reply Soval, Kahlia, any) (Posted by Lenox) -Lenox - Lord of Hyphens (USS Spectre: Corridor outside Stellar Cartography - Agent Soval - 1818) Soval approached the previously indicated location checking the setting on his rifle as he moved forward. "Have any positional data available?" The TAC/SC asked. "Minimal, three substantial objects approaching Stellar Cartography from section alpha-three. Something appears to interfere with the internal sensors, we were unable to determine much other than that the objects appear to generate an energy field considerably greater in intensity than the drones we have encountered thus far." (reply Orde IYW) Soval watched as the security team moved into firing positions curious as to what was approaching their position and also the motives for seeking a relatively insignificant position. After a few moments two individuals walked around the junction in the corridor and continued towards the security position without even a slight pause to assess their situation. Soval observed the creatures as they approached; confindent in Ordes ability to control the situation, they were humanoid however a metalic substance similar in composition to the drones covered their forms and their were no observable sensory organs. Combinded with the precise nature of the two individuals movements Soval quickly determined a logical conclusion, "Lt. these would appear also to be drones, although substantially more advanced than those previously encountered. I would advise caution." (reply Orde) - room for more Soval took aim at the closer drone and fired in concert with the others however was somewhat surprised when the multiple phaser beams passed through the drones impacting on the bulkhead behind them. He stood up withdrawing a tricorder, "They are holographic in nature however the photonic signature is dissimilar to anything i have previously encountered, they are also not the energy signature previously detected; it is now within stellar cartography." (Reply Orde, any) (Posted by John Morrison) (USS Spectre, Sickbay, ACMO, Ensign(jg) Ariana Torelle - 18.20) Ariana hadn't been in Sickbay for long. After dashing after the Captain to report her arrival, she has been directed to her quarters while he shuttled about the planets surface looking for something. At this point Ariana was more or less certain that he was after the crew, as the ship was shockingly quiet at the moment. After depositing her bags, and without even unpacking, Ariana had wandered into Sickbay to report to the CMO. However, once she had got there, Ariana discovered the Acting CMO was still missing, and the medical crew was relatively unsure what to do. =/\=Ensign Torelle, report to the Bridge=/\= ~Hmm, better get going. At the moment without the CMO we need to get some orders from the Captain~ (USS Spectre, Bridge, CMO, Ensign(jg) Ariana Torelle - 18.25) The turbolift doors slowly slipped open and Ariana wandered on to the Bridge. Captain Ktell spotted her and stood, clearly eager to get Ariana up to date on what was happening and what she had to do. "Ensign Ariana Torelle, sorry to pull you away from your duties, but I wanted to inform you personally of the situation and to welcome you aboard." Ariana smiled sweetly "Sir, I'm in a possition where any information would be very useful to me. Currently I have been unable to locate the CMO so I've just been trying to fit myself in with the Medical staff" "The majority of the crew including the CSO, FO and Acting CMO have been taken into somekind of rift, we are trying to find out what that means and return our people. In the meantime, can you prepare sickbay for causalities, until we get our medical staff back, you're in charge of sickbay." Ramae filled her in. It seemed like the Spectre was going through a very complicated mission already. As far as Ariana knew they had only arrived in this area a few hours ago. "It shouldn't take long to get the Sickbay back up to speed, the Spectre appears to have a very capable medical department. As you have pointed out were are missing quite a few of the medical staff, however, so I don't know what the capacity of Sickbay will be due to staff shortages" Ariana said still smiling. "As soon as the current crisis is over, we'll have a senior briefing and I can bring you up to speed, carry on.", said Remae nodding at Ariana. "As you wish sir. Once I have Sickbay up to speed I'll let you know, and I'll try and indicate if we have enough people to offer medical teams to go in when the crew are being retrieved from the rift, sir". Ariana nodded and turned back to the turbolift, nodding and smiling at each crew member that caught her eye. (reply any) (posted by Matthew Hackett) (USS Spectre, Outside Stellar Cartography, CO, Captain Remae - 18.30) "They are holographic in nature however the photonic signature is dissimilar to anything I have previously encountered, they are also not the energy signature previously detected; it is now within stellar cartography." Feeling quite useless on the Bridge, Remae grabbed a few Security Officers and headed down to where Soval and Pierce were tracking the new intruders on the ship. "Follow me.", said the CO as he opened the door to Stellar Cartography. (USS Spectre, Stellar Cartography, CO, Captain Remae - 18.35) When they entered, the teams began to secure the entrance, Remae opened his tricorder and on Soval's advice he had set it to scan for holographic signatures. It seemed the probes had access the database and were downloading spatial coordinates. Remae couldn't tell more than that. "Pierce, kill computer access to this room. I don't want them accessing our database." (Reply from Pierce) "Soval, can we set the phasers to emit a photonic disruption and take these holograms offline?" (Reply from Soval) Remae nodded and positioned himself further into the room but it seemed the new probes didn't like that idea and they began to fire towards him and the security team. Suddenly, Remae was thrown against a wall, a weapon blast had caught him on the shoulder throwing him backwards. he looked down at the wound, he shoulder was still there, it seemed like he'd been hit with an equivalent stun blast. (Reply from Soval, Pierce, Any) (Posted by Anthony Keen) <> (unknown place of captivity, Kahila Lono, 18:35) Kahila kept her attention riveted inward; she was aware that Pierce had moved toward Stellar Cartography with a number of his Security Officers, that Soval was there. Then Pierce's awareness had necessarily been taken up by the ensuing battle. Though his link was open to her, events and people moved so quickly, only segments flashing into and out of her inner vision. She saw Captain Remae, knew when Pierce pulled him under cover. Pierce finally adressed her directly: ~Have any ideas, Kahlia? Photonic/Holographic drones without any apparent source of transmission are attempting to access databases. We've cut off power, and now we're under fire.~ ~Accessing databases! That's similar to what's been happening here; they--someone's been accessing our minds and capabilities. Octan is here. I'll consult with him.~ Kahila moved quickly to where Ensign Octan sat, near to his augmented tricorder. "Ensign," she said. "As a Betazoid, I have some empathic/telepathic linkage. Lt. Pierce Orde is in link with me now; he, Soval, and the Captain are engaged in battle with photonic/Holographic drones who are attempting to access the Spectre's databases. They've cut off power. The drones are without any apparent source of transmission. Can you think of any possible solutions?" reply Octan, Pierce posted by Josephine Goodman <> (unknown place of captivity, CSO Ensign Octan, 18:35) Octan sat alone, his thoughts all that kept him occupied. He had been listening to some of the other captives and realised that, what to him was a flippant adventure, was actually something much more serious. He was annoyed with himself. He had let his earlier disagreements with Soval cloud his judgement. He was so intent on getting one up on the SFI agent that he didn't consider his actions or their consequences. Now he was in the middle of a prison, with someone or something out there that wanted more than just to play with them. The mindprobes some of the other prisoners had suffered were serious. "Ensign," Kahila said, bringing Octan back to the present. Can you think of any possible solutions?" "Are the drones still able to access the database, even if the database is without power?," Octan queried. "That shouldn't be possible at all!" (reply Kahila, Pierce, Any) (Posted by Arnaud Malherbe) USS Spectre, Stellar Cartography, CO, Captain Remae - 18.45) Pierce had pulled Remae to cover as the battle began to get fierce but it looked like the Security Forces weren't affecting these holographic drones. Remae touched his commbadge. "Engineering, shut down the computer core and disable to auxiliaries from activating. now!", he said through the pain of his wound, power or no, they would need the computer core actually operational to access information from it. (Reply from Peabody) Power dimmed across the room as the computer went offline and although emergency systems kicked in, they were localised in nature and access to the database was severed. Apparently, with nothing else to do, the holographic drones vanished from sight. Although there was nothing to stop them reappearing; the CO stood up with some effort. "I'm alright, it just a scratch. report?", said Remae and when all the assembled crew had checked in with him, he said, "They could be back if they can find another way to access our computer, in the meantime, we'll have to run the ship without the main computer. Pierce, station security around major computer areas, there is a chance they will try again. Soval, head to Engineering and see what needs to be done to get the Spectre off the ground. I'll be in Sickbay.", Remae headed out of the door, which opened normally, even with the computer, localised systems would work, doors, life support. (USS Spectre, Sickbay, CO, Captain Remae - 19.00) Thankfully, injuries seemed to be slight as Remae entered Sickbay. He was helped upto a biobed as a nurse scanned his wound and began to examine the seriousness of the damage to his shoulder.
