"Whatever you can, Thomas. Of course you realize that the work that I am trying to perform here is a sizable investment, which will someday be your inheritance?" Pez asked with a smile. "But if I can't get my ship's in motion and back on schedule, well, there will be sizeable penalties which may end up causing a significant loss of revenue for the family." (reply Thomas) "I'm just curious how it is that the station's commander came to the conclusion that the ship's were infested with Voles in the first place. You don't see many Vole infestations in wine shipments, after all, they prefer grains and food stuffs. And not a single officer from this facility has been aboard my ship to inspect it." "I suspect that one of my competitors, perhaps Braak or Quol nor, have paid the station commander to delay the ship long enough for me to lose any chance of profitability on the trip. If that is the case, then there is also a chance that I will lose the trading contract for the wine, since I have very strict service level agreements from the vendors at the cargo's destination." Pez gave a softer, almost pleading smile, "So you see my boy, I really do need your help, I would owe you a favor, And that as you know is a commodity worth more than gold-pressed latinum. Thermopylae Doug remembered T'Larah say just before the fighting began. She had explained that it was, from the program's point of view, the future site of a historical battle. Doug thought he had it right, but now it didn't matter. T'Larah and Doug had been mostly on the defensive for the past 10 minutes. (Reply Stevens) (Posted by Steve) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante – Main Engineering - CEO, Lt. Steven Matrix – Day 3 - 1012*) Matrix was tired already and the day had hardly begun. He took a moment to reflect on current evens and his obligation to the ship and crew. "Okay...lets get back to this log report...Computer, personal log." said Matrix as he sat back. [Ready] replied the computer. "The events of the past few days have been taxing to the engineering crews, both aboard the Rosenante and the Starbase. A murder aboard the base has many scrambling to find the person or persons responsible. Now I'm hearing that the murder weapon is missing...that will no doubt complicate our efforts. For our engineering teams, this couldn't' have come at a worse time. The Rosenante is under a full repair and refit schedule with all of her key systems offline including our primary and computer cores. I've solicited help from the Starbase computing and engineering sections without success. Their just as busy as we are. I've also put in an inquiry with the Starbase Science and Research labs, but haven't received a response as yet. I'm hoping they have some computing resources we can tap into. If nothing else I might be able to relay our data to another starbase for analysis." Matrix stood up and walked slowly around his desk. "I have recalled all Rosenante engineering teams from R&R and those already aboard are working to repair both computer cores as quickly as possible. As soon as we have some computing power available we'll dedicate it to data analysis. Given the situation I hope the captain is amicable to some extra time aboard to get repairs fully completed. I have a feeling we're going to need the extra time just to get our systems and refits completed given most of my personnel and that of the Starbase are tasked with this murder investigation." Matrix turned to his replicator. "Kona coffee, hot, black." said Matrix. Matrix took a sip of his coffee, "Computer, end log." [Personal log saved. You have an incoming transmission from Star Fleet Engineering & Research] ~Interesting~ thought Matrix. "Bring up the message computer." said Matrix. (Reply none) (Posted by Steve) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante – Main Engineering - CEO, Lt. Steven Matrix – Day 3 - 1014) "Bring up the message computer." said Matrix. A few moments passed as the computer processed the transmission request. Matrix continued to sip his coffee and pondered who would be contacting him from Star Fleet E&R. He had a number of friends there and a few high ranking officers who had openly expressed admiration and respect for his work while aboard the Paladin and the Geneva. Still the contact was intriguing. "Ah...Lieutenant Matrix. Commander Andrews Star Fleet Engineering and Research. We got word of your request for some computational help. I've reviewed your report and see you're in a predicament. Unfortunately I don't think I can offer any assistance. By the time you transmit your data, we analyze it and get it transmitted back to you your investigation window would likely be compromised." said the Commander. Matrix smiled at the notion and felt that he hadn't articulated the nature of his inquiry properly. "Well Commander, I thank you for the consideration, but I was actually hoping to get your input on how we could replicate a virtual core to start the analysis aboard the Rosenante while repairs are underway. We have backup and tertiary computing power and material replicators are online. I thought it might be worth trying to replicate a Mark IVa computer core, but the design matrix schematics are not in our database." replied Matrix. The commander pondered the idea briefly, "That's not a bad idea Steve, that would give you a leg up on the processing and you could upload the data however completed at the time your main core comes back online. I'll send up the design matrix. We've done some additional work on the processor cores. We've established a beta Mark IVc model. Its not nearly the power you'll have in your own processing cores, but it will help analyze the 3D molecular and visual data feeds. I assume Starbase 989 hasn't been able to help you analyze the data?" asked the Commander. "No sir. In fact I've received no response back from any of my inquires...not all the surprising given the situation here. They have a lot on their plate. Captain Salid has put the Rosenante and her crew in a response and support role. Understandable, but I still have a job to do." replied Matrix. Matrix's primary notification display alerted him to the schematic upload. "Commander...Mike...thank you...the design matrix arrived. I'll review your new design changes and get my team to start the replication process." said Matrix. "You're welcome Steve, I'm glad to help. I would recommend that you double check the replication sequence on the memory units...those are the most critical. Once completed, its got enough processing power to beam one person at a time through a transporter coil, but I wouldn't recommend it." replied Commander Andrews. "No, I don't think I'd risk it myself...I'd hate for the cache buffers to overflow...the person might come out missing something on the other side." said Matrix. "Keep me posted if you need anything else. Good luck. Andrews out." responded Commander Andrews. (Reply none) (Posted by Steve) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (OFT Harveq, Medical Bay, Ship's Master T'Sek, 1043) T'Sek stood over the body of Nargo, watching as the Reman Doctor finished the last of his scans. The Reman was short even for a member of his species, and was standing on a special raised platform so that he could easily reach the body of the Orion Cargo master. Even in the dim light of the compartment, which made T'Sek uncomfortable, the Reman doctor was still wearing the dark-lensed goggles that all members of his species wore when they were not on their home world. "It is as we suspected, Commander" The doctor finally announced. "The injuries are consistent with those that befell the last Tal Shiar agent that was killed here, as well as the preliminary reports for the autopsy of captain Taylor." He stepped down from the platform, leaving Nargo laying in state for the moment. "There is no need to do any further testing, He was killed by the same assassin. Of that there can be no doubt." T'Sek nodded, and then frowned before answering. "I thought as much but I had to be certain before the Starfleet investigators got their hands on the body and botched any autopsy, destroying any evidence." There was a soft chime in the compartment before a voice spoke. =^= My apologies commander for disturbing you.=^= his watch officer said apologetically. "What is it Sarok?" T'Sek replied, knowing that his Romulan officer would not dare disturb him unless it was important." =^= We are receiving a signal from a Vulcan named Sanok. A moment later the message from the Vulcan repeated. =^= Ensign Sanok from the Rosenante, to the freighter, Harveq. Please respond.=^= "Patch me through", T'Sek stated as he stepped over to a console to take a look at the assembled security team outside the docking hatch of his ship. ~This should prove interesting.~ he thought. =^= You are connected.=^= came the simple response before the internal channel was closed. "This is the Harveq, Mister Sanok. Captain and Ship's Master T'Sek here. How can I assist you?" (reply Sanok) "My apologies Ensign, I will make arrangements to allow you aboard at once. Please stand by for an escort to bring you aboard. However, I must request that only the four senior Rosenante officers present come aboard, as I simply do not trust the Station security. I hope you understand?" (reply Sanok) "Very well. I will send someone to fetch your officers, yourself, Lieutenant Soma, Ensign Ichijo and Ensign O'Neill. Please stand by. It will be a couple of minutes." (reply Sanok) "T'Sek out." The Romulan stated and then reached over and closed the channel. He turned to the doctor. "Doctor Rosk, no doubt that their chief medical officer would like to see the body. please make preparations to that affect." The Reman doctor grunted, but gave a nod. He hated Federation officers almost as much as T'Sek did. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Outer Docking Arm Section 12, Ensign sg Sanok, 1044) "This is the Harveq, Mister Sanok. Captain and Ship's Master T'Sek here. How can I assist you?" "Good morning, Captain T'Sek," said Sanok. "I believe you know why I am contacting you, sir. "I will make arrangements to allow you aboard at once. Please stand by for an escort to bring you aboard. However, I must request that only the four senior Rosenante officers present come aboard, as I simply do not trust the station security. I hope you understand?" Sanok looked at Ben with a raised eyebrow. He turned to face Alcott and his officers, but they were shuffling nervously and not looking meeting his gaze. "We will await your escort, Captain," said Sanok. "Very well. I will send someone to fetch your officers; yourself, Lieutenant Soma, Ensign Ichijo, and Ensign O'Neill. Please stand by. Getting that a lot, around here~ The doctor donned a pair of gloves and removed a small scraper from its cradle and removed a couple of flecks of blood. Removing a plate from her medkit, she placed the blood on the surface and scanned the blood. ~Definitely Orion blood, several patterns with 99 percent oxygen content, which means a heart strike in the same area as the Captain, some interesting proteins here and a small cluster with only 5 percent oxygen. ~ Kimiko pulled out her padd with her other hand and checked the basic profile of Orion physiology. ~Similar consumption ratio to human, so if my subject was a pan-galactic games athlete he returning hemoglobin rate should be at 9 – 12 percent, interesting~ Kimiko tapped her communicator. “Ichijo to Lopez” (Reply Lopez) “There is another scene, sans body, on the starbase, I would like you to gather a team and report to outer docking arm section 12, to collect samples of any biological material” (Reply Lopez) “Also if you could run a full workup of any blood found at the scene, I would appreciate it” (Reply Lopez) “Thank you, Ichijo out” (Reply Lopez) (Posted by Jack) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (OFT Harveq, Transporter Room, Ship's Master T'Sek, 1049) T'Sek stood behind the console next to his transporter chief. A small three man all-Orion security force was standing nearby, their weapons ready but not pointed at anyone. T'Sek had just identified the members of the Rosenante crew that he wanted brought aboard to the chief who had just finished locking on to their signals. "Ready Commander." he announced. T'Sek gave a nod and then stated evenly, "Energize" The transporters powered up and the familiar hum of good quality Starfleet transporters filled the room. A few moments later the four Rosenante officers materialized on the transporter platform. T'Sek stepped forward as the Orions raised their weapons. "Welcome aboard the Harveq, I am T'Sek, the Commander of this vessel. I would appreciate it if you relinquished your weapons before we continued with our meeting in a more civilized manner." A few officers from the Rosenante, the rest of her security team were looking around anxiously. One of them started to reach up to tap his commbadge but Dale caught his hand in mid-motion. "Wait!" he said. "They agreed to a meeting, I think that they have been beamed aboard the Harveq, so until we know otherwise we should assume that they are safe and sound. If we don't hear anything within an hour, we'll notify Captain Salid and escalate the issue. For now, we'll wait and see." The Rosenante crew looked at him for a few minutes. "It's alright I'll take full responsibility for this decision." he added. The finally seemed to relax. "Just standby and follow Lieutenant Soma's last orders which were to seal off this corridor." The ensign security officer nodded and they all seemed to relax back into a routine where they knew what they were supposed to be doing. ~I certainly hope I know what I'm doing.~ Dale thought to himself. (reply none) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (OFT Harveq, Transporter Room, CTAC/SEC Lt. jg Ben Soma, 1051) One moment Ben had been standing in the docking arm of Starbase 989 the next he was standing in the transporter room of the Harveq. Once the paralasis had fully released him he noticed a Romulan and several armed Orions, they had thier weapons trained on him and his party. Not the best way to say hello to someone but not really all that surprising. "Welcome aboard the Harveq, I am T'Sek, the Commander of this vessel. I would appreciate it if you relinquished your weapons before we continued with our meeting in a more civilized manner." T'Sek stated. Ben considered his options very quickly, he didn't like the idea of handing over his weapon but he didn't see any other choice at the moment. Sure he could handle one or two of the Orions but he couldn't take them all. Eian and Sanok could handle themselves with little trouble but he hope things wouldn't get that bad. Without moving he looked to the others to make sure they were alright. Turning his attention back to the ships commander he said. "In the interest of civility perhaps you would be willing to have your honor guard lower thier weapons, I assure you they will not be needing them." Ben removed his phaser from his holster, bent down and placed it on the platform at his feet and made a motion for the others to do the same as he stood up again. "We are not here with hostile intentions, we are here to examine the body that you have in your possesion." He continued. "Whether it was your intention to do so or not, you have interefered with our investigation by removing it." Ben stood in a neutral position not wanting to give any of the Orions an excuse to use the weapons they held, but he spoke with confidence and authority, to do any less would show as weakness and wouldn't help to improve thier situation. With that in mind he knew he couldn't be aggressive either, he'd have to play things by ear and hope that the others would follow his lead, Sanok would be his anchor as he had been in the past. His friend faced every situation logicaly and neutraly, he didn't know much about Ichijo but doctors were pacifist as a general rule. Eian could be fierce he chose to be and now was not the time for heroics. (reply any present) (posted by Milo Young) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (OFT Harveq - Transporter Room - ACEO Ensign Eian O'Neill - Day 3 - 1052) One moment they were outside, listening to Sanok speak to the Romulan commander, and the next minute, they were being transported. Eian was immediately on guard, and as soon as they rematerialized he scanned their surroundings. He had never been aboard a Romulan vessel before, but he had been in simulations at the Academy and had seen holovids. It didn't compare to the lavish decorations he now faced, though. The walls shined with decorative plates that looked like latinum, and there wasn't a speck on the transporter pad. As he took in the details of the room, he also noted the transporter chief, the three Orion guards with weapons, and the man who was most definitely in charge. That Romulan began to speak. "Welcome aboard the Harveq, I am T'Sek, the Commander of this vessel. I would appreciate it if you relinquished your weapons before we continued with our meeting in a more civilized manner." Eian had only his engineering kit with him, but wouldn't do anything until Soma or Sanok ordered him to. He didn't exactly like being transported without warning, and being transported aboard a Romulan vessel without a warning had him more than a little edgy. He kept his eyes on the Orion guards and waited for Ben to speak. "In the interest of civility perhaps you would be willing to have your honor guard lower thier weapons, I assure you they will not be needing them." Ben then removed his phaser from his holster, bent down and placed it on the platform at his feet and made a motion for the others to do the same as he stood up again. Eian reluctantly did so, but never kept his attention on the potential threats in the room. Ben continued, "We are not here with hostile intentions, we are here to examine the body that you have in your possesion. Whether it was your intention to do so or not, you have interefered with our investigation by removing it." Eian examined his fellow officers' stances briefly, and also took into account what the Romulans and Orion guards looked like. Ben was standing in a neutral position but his voice was firm and unwavering. The Orions were standing on guard, awaiting a decision from their leader, and the rest of the Starfleet team was doing much the same, though Eian could tell that Sanok, the Orion guards, and T'Sek seemed to be appraising everyone as much as he was. No one knew quite what to expect in this situation and everyone was standing ready. He followed Ben's lead of attempting to appear neutral, but he didn't relax his stance completely. (reply any) (posted by Morgan G) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (OFT Harveq, Transporter Room, Ensign sg Sanok, 1053) On the transporter pad inside the Harveq, Sanok stood calmly, his hands folded behind his back. He had expected Captain T'Sek to send a team to escort them through a hatch, but using a transporter beam was much more Romulan. Remaining silent while Ben and T'Sek spoke, he noticed one of the Orions staring at him, clearing sizing him up. The Orion seemed as though he wanted something to happen so he could go at it with a Vulcan. Most illogical. When Ben placed his phaser on the floor and motioned for the rest of them to do so, Sanok removed his weapon from his side and followed suit. He understood Romulan suspicion, but it was completely unnecessary. Returning to his typical posture, Sanok waited to be led to the murdered Orion. (reply any) (posted by Bob) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (OFT Harveq - Transporter Room - CMO, Ens Kimiko Ichijo - Day 3 - 1054) Kimiko looked up and it seemed the Ensign Sanok was speaking to a disembodied voice, the doctor shrugged and went back to comparing the data from the padd and the very fascinating return from the tricorder. Soon, the doctor was cycling though the hormone layouts between the padd and tricorder. ~I can see some pretty clear departures, but not following any disorders or genetic shifts that are in the database.~ Kimiko felt the familiar lightheaded sensation that followed a transport and noticed that the institutional gray deck was replaced with an opaque, glassy surface. She looked at the instruments in her hand and saw the her padd reinitialized and the tricorder’s gold text had turned green and a small error appeared underneath: [Specimen missing] The doctor’s mind was trying to sort out what was going on when the same voice sounded out. "Welcome aboard the Harveq, I am T'Sek, the Commander of this vessel. I would appreciate it if you relinquished your weapons before we continued with our meeting in a more civilized manner." T'Sek stated. She looked toward the voice and saw a Romulan flanked by several Orions who were pointing weapons at her. She felt irrationally like they had spied on her, caught her doing something private. She schooled her expression to keep from showing her anger. ~Just who begun the uncivilized behavior, buddy~ Kimiko bit her tongue to avoid saying something even ruder. The voice of her father reproved her. ~When a man angers you, you have surrendered to him~ Kimiko rose to her feet slowly as Soma spoke. "In the interest of civility perhaps you would be willing to have your honor guard lower their weapons, I assure you they will not be needing them." The Lieutenant placed his phaser on the pad, motioned for everyone else to do the same and stated, "We are not here with hostile intentions; we are here to examine the body that you have in your possession." He continued. "Whether it was your intention to do so or not, you have interfered with our investigation by removing it." The doctor made a show of turning off her padd and tricorder and placing them back in to her medical bag. She place the bag on the transporter pad beside her ~I have no doubt that they will want to check it for photon cannons. Like a doctor runs around with a phaser in her kit~ She realized that Romulan doctors just may. ~Things may get a whole lot of interesting here~ (Reply any) (Posted by Jack) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (OFT Harveq, Transporter Room, Ship's Master T'Sek, Day 3- 1055) As expected the Rosenante crew were made of more hearty stock than the corrupt putrefied mockery that best described the station personnel. That suited T'Sek well enough. "In the interest of civility perhaps you would be willing to have your honor guard lower their weapons, I assure you they will not be needing them." Ben removed his phaser from his holster, bent down and placed it on the platform at his feet and made a motion for the others to do the same as he stood up again. The other officers all followed suit except for the doctor, who wasn't carrying a phaser to begin with. "We are not here with hostile intentions, we are here to examine the body that you have in your possession." He continued. "Whether it was your intention to do so or not, you have interfered with our investigation by removing it." Soma stated. ~Ah, a diplomat.~ "It was my intention to remove the body. It was simply unfortunate that it interfered with your investigation of Captain Taylor's murder. That was not my intention at all. I will of course, allow you access to the body at once. I will not however, allow you access to it without an escort nor will I allow the body to leave this ship." T'Sek explained. He gestured for the Orions to lower their weapons, which they did. Two of them stepped forward and recovered the three discarded phasers. Those were brought to T'Sek, who expertly removed their power cells before having them returned to the three Starfleet officers. "I will have your power cells returned to you before you leave the ship. Doctor Ichijo, you and the others are welcomed to review the body of the victim. His name was Nargo and he has served my family very well for a very long time. Please be respectful of his remains. Gorth will escort you to the medical bay and to Doctor Rosk, who will answer any questions you may have as well as provide you with any data he has collected from Nargo's body." "Lieutenant Soma. I would appreciate it if yourself and Ensign O'Neill's would accompany me. We can discuss some details of your investigation. I may be able to assist you in uncovering the murderer, as well as aiding you in finding a motive. Sanok can accompany Ichijo and in this way no one is unaccompanied. But of course, they are under your command, so we will accommodate your requirements, should my suggestion not be appealing to you." (reply Soma, Ichijo, Sanok, O'Neill) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (OFT Harveq, Transporter Room, CTAC/SEC Lt. jg Ben Soma-1056*) "It was my intention to remove the body. It was simply unfortunate that it interfered with your investigation of Captain Taylor's murder. That was not my intention at all. I will of course, allow you access to the body at once. I will not however, allow you access to it without an escort nor will I allow the body to leave this ship." T'Sek explained. The Romulan Captain then gestured for the Orions to lower thier weapons. ~At least we have reached an understanding, no one wants to insigate a confrontation. There could be room for a mutualy beneficial arrangement if things continue as smoothly.~ Two of the guards came forward and picked up the phasers which they returned to thier superior who proceeded to remove the power cells and then returned the phasers to the team. "I will have your power cells returned to you before you leave the ship. Doctor Ichijo, you and the others are welcomed to review the body of the victim. His name was Nargo and he has served my family very well for a very long time. Please be respectful of his remains. Gorth will escort you to the medical bay and to Doctor Rosk, who will answer any questions you may have as well as provide you with any data he has collected from Nargo's body." Ben considered the request to be respectful of Nargo's remains from T'Sek more of a personal request then a profeesional one. It was obvious that the Romulan valued Nargo's services and was probably found of him. "We will honor your request to be respectful of Nargo's remains, Doctor Ichijo will just be performing some scans of his body in order to determine if he was killed in the same manner as Captain Taylor." Ben stated. "Lieutenant Soma. But of course, they are under your command, so we will accommodate your requirements, should my suggestion not be appealing to you." Ben finaly steeped down from the transporter platform but stopped several feet in front of T'Sek, he didn't want to give the Orions an excuse to act rashly. He had noticed they were sizing his team up, speculating how they would hold up in a fight. One even seemed to glue his gaze on Sanok, possibly wanting something to happen so he could go at it with him. "I find your suggestion to be adequate and respectful." Ben said bowing from the shoulders to show his own respect. He wasn't certain why the station's security officers appeared fearful of T'Sek, perhaps it was just his grandfather they feared. So far the Romulan Captain had been hospitable and Ben couldn't sense any intention of hostiltiy from him, though his guards would clearly like to mix it up a little. (reply any present) (posted by Milo Young) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (OFT Harveq, Transporter Room, CMO, Ens Kimiko Ichijo, Day 3- 1057*) Kimiko watched as the Orion retrieved the phasers and ship’s master disabled them. Handing weapons back to the officer, he stated. "I will have your power cells returned to you before you leave the ship. Doctor Ichijo, you and the others are welcomed to review the body of the victim. His name was Nargo and he has served my family very well for a very long time. Please be respectful of his remains. Gorth will escort you to the medical bay and to Doctor Rosk, who will answer any questions you may have as well as provide you with any data he has collected from Nargo's body." ~In other words, no cutting and no samples. ~ Kimiko thought wryly. Scans were wonderful and gave a physician more information faster, than her predecessors ever enjoyed. But a vast amount of that data was null or useless and could very often lead the unwary into rabbit hole. The doctor was a great believer in no scan should ever replace the mark 1 eyeball and nose. However with such eloquently phrased request, there was not a way to deny his wishes, and who knows maybe he was sincere ~Besides, possession was nine-tenths of the law~ "We will honor your request to be respectful of Nargo's remains; Doctor Ichijo will just be performing some scans of his body in order to determine if he was killed in the same manner as Captain Taylor." Ben stated. ~well, that is that. I guess all I need to do is see wound and confirm what I think happened, happened~ "Lieutenant Soma. But of course, they are under your command, so we will accommodate your requirements, should my suggestion not be appealing to you." Ben stepped up to the Romulan and stated,"I find your suggestion to be adequate and respectful." Kimiko was a little surprised with the polite exchanges. ~I guess it is better than shooting each other, but it makes me want to look for the dagger that is going to be planted in my back.~ She picked up her kit and moved off the transporter pad. She looked up at her escort and noticed that while they were attentive of their surroundings, the Orions had dismissed her and were for all intents and purposes, making faces at Soma and Sanok. ~Too bad they weren’t at the Happy Tribble…… Stop it Kimi~ The doctor stood patiently and waited for her escort to lead the way. (Reply any) (Posted by Jack) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (OFT Harveq, Transporter Room, Ship's Master T'Sek, Day 3- 1058) "I find your suggestion to be adequate and respectful." Ben said bowing as a show of respect. T'Sek smiled, and graciously returned the bow in turn. The security escort led Doctor Ichijo and Ensign Sanok from the compartment towards the Medical Facility, while T'Sek and a pair of his Orions escorted O'Neill and Soma to his quarters, where they could discuss things in an informal manner without being observed or overheard. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (OFT Harveq, Transporter Room, Ensign sg Sanok, 1059) While Sanok was listening to the conversation between Ben and T'Sek, he carefully observed everything that was happening. The Orion guards still seemed as though they were looking for a fight, and it was clear they were very loyal to their leader. However, they maintained themselves and did as they were told. Sanok was pleased that Ben deferred to T'Sek's orders. In doing so, Ben still displayed air of authority and a strong and confident bearing. It was something T'Sek was sure to respect in return. Doctor Ichijo was calm, though there were several times Sanok thought he saw masked expressions of disapproval slipping onto her face. She did, however, maintain her professional demeanor. Ensign O'Neill was the youngest and had the least experience of anyone on their team. It was clear he wasn't happy about anything that was happening. His body language indicated that he was not feeling any respect for T'Sek, and that he was ready to fight at a moment's notice. He hoped Ben observed this as well, and would oversee the young ensign. As the four were moving off in the directions assigned to them by T'Sek, Sanok passed very near to O'Neill and quickly whispered to him. "Remember your training, Mister O'Neill. We are on their turf, after all." Without waiting for a response, Sanok moved away from O'Neill and followed the doctor and the Orion escort. (reply any) (posted by Bob) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (OFT Harveq, Captain's Quarters, Ship's Master T'Sek, Day 3- 1100) The doors to his quarters rolled open with a mechanical grinding noise that T'Sek didn't really care for. He had come to grow accustomed to the somewhat clunky mechanical systems of the Orion ship over the years. He had, in fact, grown proud of his command and the mission that it fulfilled. The room was well appointed, almost opulent, but staying within the confined strictures of what was appropriate for a successful merchant operating on the Droveli loop. "Please have a seat." he said as he motioned for the two Orions to take a station outside his door. "Can I bring you some Droveli or perhaps some Romulan ale to lighten the nature of our conversation?" (reply Soma, O'Neill) "Suit yourself." He said as he stepped over to a small workstation and retrieved a Cardassian data crystal. He sat opposite the two officers and then placed the data crystal on the small table between them. "Tell me gentlemen what do you know about the late Captain Taylor?" (reply Soma, O'Neill) "Impressive. And were you aware that he was planning to go to Risa?" (reply Soma, O'Neill) "Which means that you have probably heard that he commissioned a Romulan to take him there?" T'Sek inquired. (reply Soma, O'Neill) "Well, commissioned isn't exactly the right word. It would be more accurate to say blackmailed. You see, Captain Taylor managed to inquire some embarrassing information about me recently. He threatened to release it to certain individuals, whose identity you can probably surmise, should I fail to take him and one other unknown passenger to Risa." (reply Soma, O'Neill) T'Sek paused. "I agreed, of course. The Captain's word was good, I knew that much and he had assured me that he'd have no further need of the information once he was safely on Risa, which I believed to be true." (reply Soma, O'Neill) "Of course I realize that by telling you this I am making myself a prime suspect in his murder, but I assure you had I wanted to kill the Captain, it would have been infinitely less complicated to do so once were underway to Risa then it would be to have done so while he was still in command of the starbase." (reply O'Neill, Soma) "But if there is one thing that I have learned from my experiences listening to my grandfather, it is this: Alway be prudent. That said, I have done some digging of my own, The person you are seeking is Quol Nor. He is a Ferengi businessman here on the station. I believe that Ensign O'Neill is already acquainted with him." (reply Soma, O'Neill) "It was he that provided the data to Captain Taylor that allowed him to blackmail me. You see Quol Nor is an illicit information broker. I have data here that will prove it." T'Sek slid the data crystal forward towards the two gentlemen. "If you would take a good look at the data on this crystal and the accompanying holo-images, you'll see that Quol Nor was firmly in a position to sell critical Starfleet and illicit data to marginally neurotic individuals. By searching through your own library records you will also be able to determine that this information has led to a variety of illegal operations through out the region. They include assassinations, espionage, piracy and smuggling." "You will also find it interesting to note that Quol Nor has placed a significant amount of money on the outcome of the tournament, at very long odds. You will also be able to see that those particular individuals, who are listed on the data crystal have also been either disqualified or rated so poorly that they are unable to win in any of their events. Included on the data crystal are copies of the illegal transactions for the gambling wagers that Quol Nor placed with the Kintara Syndicate, One of the more aggressive of the Orion Syndicates. You'll see that it is a sizable shipment of gold-pressed latinum, enough to drop his networth significantly, which as you can surmise is never a good thing for a Ferengi." "Now if you ask yourself, why is it that the judges are still shifting the outcome of the Tournament, but not in Quol Nor's favor? Could it be possible that someone, say captain Taylor somehow acquired the data that belonged to Quol Nor, in order to blackmail the judges and insure a massive pay-off when the tournament ended? That would certainly pay for a retirement with the woman he loves on Risa. If you review the Captain's financial records, you will also see that he placed a significant bet with the Kintara Syndicate as well, or as the records will show, an investment with an Orion Free Traders Guild to develop profitability and development on some remote world somewhere." (reply Soma, O'Neill) "Of course you must realize that I can not nor will I testify to anything I have told you here. Nor will I verify the data I am providing you. But I can offer you a little bit of information that will get you everything you need to make your arrest and conviction." (reply Soma, O'Neill) "Quol Nor had the data encrypted on a data cube. I can assure you he's probably thought he has destroyed it, but Captain Taylor was no fool and would have shielded it against signals that would cause it to memory wipe. Find that data cube and you'll have all the proof that you'll need to link him to the murder. You'll still have to work out the method, but I suspect that you already have your theories on how it was done. " (reply Soma, O'Neill) "Let me ask you this: Why would captain Taylor, a man who wore nothing but his uniform for all these years suddenly decide to visit a tailor? I can assure you it has nothing to do with picking out the right outfit to wear on his trip to Risa. If you check his financials, you'll see that he has not purchased anything at all from him." (reply Soma, O'Neill) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Harveq - Transporter Room - ACEO Ensign Eian O'Neill - Day 3 - 1101*) The polite exchange was surprising to Eian, especially after they had been transported here when they were told they were going to have an escort. ~I'd like to at least lodge a complaint with the concierge,~ Eian thought to himself. T'Sek said, "Lieutenant Soma. I would appreciate it if yourself and Ensign O'Neill would accompany me. We can discuss some details of your investigation. I may be able to assist you in uncovering the murderer, as well as aiding you in finding a motive. Sanok can accompany Ichijo and in this way no one is unaccompanied. But of course, they are under your command, so we will accommodate your requirements, should my suggestion not be appealing to you." Eian glanced at Ben, who stepped down from the transport pad and responded, "I find your suggestion to be adequate and respectful." He then bowed from the shoulders to show his own respect. Still irritated that they had been transported without consent, Eian could barely contain his frown at Ben's gesture. ~It's one thing to be civil, it's another to be...submissive.~ He knew that wasn't Ben's intention, but he didn't want it being read the wrong way. Especially not when they were unarmed and surrounded by armed Orion guards and Romulans. Eian followed Ben and T'Sek out of the transporter room, but refused to let his guard down. If they were going to be ambushed, he was going to be ready. They could very well be dealing with the murderer on this very ship, Eian thought, and he wasn't willing to be caught with his shoulders bowed if they happened to encounter him. (reply any) (posted by Morgan G) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (OFT Harveq, Captain's Quarters, CTAC/SEC Lt. jg Ben Soma- 1102) Ben Followed T'Sek into his quarters from the transporter room, Sanok and Ichijo were being lead to the remains of the latest victim. The tension level had decreased somewhat after the group had split up but he still sensed that Eian was tense, he clearly didn't appreciate being transported without consent. There was little to be done about it now, and he would have to deal with his feelings himself. Ben just hoped he wouldn't instigate anything that would be detrimental to the momentary peace that existed. T'Sek's quarters were well appointed but not cluttered and didn't appear to hold anything that a merchant would be able to have unless it was illegally obtained, it was clear that one was meant to enjoy being here. No doubt this was T'Sek's escape from the mundane routine of ship activities. "Please have a seat." he said as he motioned for the two Orions to take a station outside his door. "Can I bring you some Droveli or perhaps some Romulan ale to lighten the nature of our conversation?" Ben sat in a chair that was intended to make it's occupant quite comfortable, he was glad that the Orion's had been sent outside. This gesture alone suggested that T'Sek was attempting to prove his sincerity and his willingness to share. "Nothing for me." Ben said. "But thank you for offering." (reply O'Neill) "Suit yourself." He said as he stepped over to a small workstation and retrieved a Cardassian data crystal. He sat opposite the two officers and then placed the data crystal on the small table between them. "Tell me gentlemen what do you know about the late Captain Taylor?" "We know he was displeased with his current assignment and the way Command treated him. He wasn't a well liked man and this lead to his growing paranoia, he was also a womanizer. His recent activities has brought some questions to light as to his handling of station wide activities which resulted in his accumulation of several people who might benefit from his death." Ben said. (reply O'Neill) "Impressive. And were you aware that he was planning to go to Risa?" "That was brought to my attention during the investigation." Ben stated. (reply O'Neill) "Which means that you have probably heard that he commissioned a Romulan to take him there?" T'Sek inquired. Ben nodded. "Yes." He began. "Your ship was to take him to Risa after the tournament concluded." (reply O'Neill) "Well, commissioned isn't exactly the right word. It would be more accurate to say blackmailed. You see, Captain Taylor managed to inquire some embarrassing information about me recently. The Captain's word was good, I knew that much and he had assured me that he'd have no further need of the information once he was safely on Risa, which I believed to be true." Ben leaned ahead slightly, T'Sek was setting himself up as a suspect. So far he revealed a motive, Taylor had information that he used to blackmail him into granting him passage to Risa along with a companion. The information must have been extensive and held great weight against T'Sek if it became common knowledge to certain individuals in a position to use it against him. (reply O'Neill) "Of course I realize that by telling you this I am making myself a prime suspect in his murder, but I assure you had I wanted to kill the Captain, it would have been infinitely less complicated to do so once were underway to Risa then it would be to have done so while he was still in command of the starbase." Ben considered this and agreed with T'Sek. Why kill Taylor while he was still on the station when he could have taken action once Taylor boarded his ship, he could have taken his leisure with him then. "Point taken." Ben said. (reply O'Neill) "But if there is one thing that I have learned from my experiences listening to my grandfather, it is this: Alway be prudent. That said, I have done some digging of my own, The person you are seeking is Quol Nor. He is a Ferengi businessman here on the station. I believe that Ensign O'Neill is already acquainted with him." "His name has come up to many times to be ignored as coincidence." Ben replied. (reply O'Neill) "It was he that provided the data to Captain Taylor that allowed him to blackmail me. You see Quol Nor is an illicit information broker. I have data here that will prove it." T'Sek slid a data crystal towards him and Eian. "If you would take a good look at the data on this crystal and the accompanying holo-images, you'll see that Quol Nor was firmly in a position to sell critical Starfleet and illicit data to marginally neurotic individuals. If you review the Captain's financial records, you will also see that he placed a significant bet with the Kintara Syndicate as well, or as the records will show, an investment with an Orion Free Traders Guild to develop profitability and development on some remote world somewhere." "The tournament did seem to be a little unfair to many of the participants, myself included as well as Ensign O'Neill. I felt there was something going on, something behind the scenes." Ben said. (reply O'Neill) "Of course you must realize that I can not nor will I testify to anything I have told you here. Nor will I verify the data I am providing you. But I can offer you a little bit of information that will get you everything you need to make your arrest and conviction." Now they were getting to the heart of the matter, the meat and potatoes as it were. T'Sek was handing them Quol Nor on a platter but wouldn't testify against him. The information would have to be enough. "We appreciate any help you can give us." Ben replied. (reply O'Neill) "Quol Nor had the data encrypted on a data cube. " "We are working on a few ideas." Ben admitted. "With the data from the data cube we should have more then enough to convict Quol Nor for Captain Taylor's murder." (reply O'Neill) "Let me ask you this: Why would captain Taylor, a man who wore nothing but his uniform for all these years suddenly decide to visit a tailor? I can assure you it has nothing to do with picking out the right outfit to wear on his trip to Risa. If you check his financials, you'll see that he has not purchased anything at all from him." "We are looking into that as well." Ben said. "It raises some interesting questions." (reply O'Neill) "If I may." Ben said. "I'd like to ask how you are so familiar with our personnel? We have only been her a short time and have had no interactions with you or your crew that I am aware of." (reply T'Sek, O'Neill) (posted by Milo Young) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (OFT Harveq, Captain's Quarters, ACEO Ensign Eian O'Neill - Day 3 - 1103) Eian and Ben entered the Captain's quarters after a short trek from the transporter room. "Please have a seat." T'Sek said as he motioned for the two Orions to take a station outside his door. "Can I bring you some Droveli or perhaps some Romulan ale to lighten the nature of our conversation?" Ben responded politely, "Nothing for me. But thank you for offering." "I'm fine, thank you," Eian said equally as politely. Even though he would have liked to give this guy a piece of his mind, he realized now was not the time and the place. But he wasn't about to accept a drink that could very well be poisoned by this Romulan lunatic. "Suit yourself." T'Sek said, and walked over to a workstation to pick up a Cardassian data cube. He then walked back to Eian and Ben and sat opposite from the two, and placed the data crystal on the small table between them. "Tell me gentlemen what do you know about the late Captain Taylor?" Ben spoke first. "We know he was displeased with his current assignment and the way Command treated him. He wasn't a well liked man and this lead to his growing paranoia, he was also a womanizer. His recent activities has brought some questions to light as to his handling of station wide activities which resulted in his accumulation of several people who might benefit from his death." "And we know his paranoia led to extensive safety precautions he took to prevent others from gaining easy access to him," Eian said. He didn't want to offer all they knew to someone who could be a potential murderer. "Impressive. And were you aware that he was planning to go to Risa?" "That was brought to my attention during the investigation." Ben stated. "Which means that you have probably heard that he commissioned a Romulan to take him there?" T'Sek inquired. "Yes." Ben began. "Your ship was to take him to Risa after the tournament concluded." Eian chose not to mention anything about Taylor's passenger. He wanted to see if T'Sek knew anything about that. "Well, commissioned isn't exactly the right word," T'Sek explained. "It would be more accurate to say blackmailed. You see, Captain Taylor managed to inquire some embarrassing information about me recently. He threatened to release it to certain individuals, whose identity you can probably surmise, should I fail to take him and one other unknown passenger to Risa." "There are a few names that come to mind." Ben said. ~So he knows about the passenger, and he's got great motive to kill Taylor. Though he probably would've waited until they were out of communications range to kill him...~ Eian thought. T'Sek paused. "I agreed, of course. The Captain's word was good, I knew that much and he had assured me that he'd have no further need of the information once he was safely on Risa, which I believed to be true." As Ben leaned ahead slightly, Eian could tell Ben was thinking the same thing he was. T'Sek was setting himself up as a suspect and although he had good motive, it was unlikely that the Romulan man would have killed Taylor on a space station when he could have done it on his own ship. Apparently, T'Sek was right there with him in his train of thought. "Of course I realize that by telling you this I am making myself a prime suspect in his murder, but I assure you had I wanted to kill the Captain, it would have been infinitely less complicated to do so once were underway to Risa then it would be to have done so while he was still in command of the starbase." "Point taken." Ben said. ~So get to the point, T'Sek,~ Eian thought impatiently. "But if there is one thing that I have learned from my experiences listening to my grandfather, it is this: Alway be prudent. That said, I have done some digging of my own, The person you are seeking is Quol Nor. He is a Ferengi businessman here on the station. I believe that Ensign O'Neill is already acquainted with him." "His name has come up to many times to be ignored as coincidence." Ben replied. "And he's in charge of holodecks on the station--he has to have come into contact with nearly everyone who's ever docked here," Eian stated. ~And personally I don't think he's smart enough to orchestrate this complicated of a murder,~ he thought. Three times now Eian had seen through Quol's lies. Unless that was some kind of a ruse, it wasn't a great track record. "It was he that provided the data to Captain Taylor that allowed him to blackmail me. ~So that's why I lost to that damn Kreetassan Chugg. It wasn't my conduct! Those judges are dirty!~ Eian thought angrily. "Of course you must realize that I can not nor will I testify to anything I have told you here," T'Sek said. ~Of course you won't.~ "Nor will I verify the data I am providing you. But I can offer you a little bit of information that will get you everything you need to make your arrest and conviction." It wasn't exactly an uncommon scenario. Typically informants were as dirty as those they were squealing on. But they couldn't turn down information. "We appreciate any help you can give us." Ben replied. "Quol Nor had the data encrypted on a data cube. " "We are working on a few ideas." Ben admitted. "With the data from the data cube we should have more then enough to convict Quol Nor for Captain Taylor's murder." ~Wait a second...~ Eian thought, and the wheels started to turn. Quol Nor, head of the holodecks. He had put in an order to make the Rose holo-capable. That unexplainable force field and the energy readings from the body...they almost perfectly matched Eian's own experiments. ~It can't be that simple. Can it?~ "Let me ask you this," T'Sek interrupted his thought process. "Why would captain Taylor, a man who wore nothing but his uniform for all these years suddenly decide to visit a tailor? I can assure you it has nothing to do with picking out the right outfit to wear on his trip to Risa. If you check his financials, you'll see that he has not purchased anything at all from him." "We are looking into that as well." Ben said. "It raises some interesting questions." Eian nodded. ~So I wonder what the tailor has to do with it?~ he thought to himself. "If I may." Ben said. "I'd like to ask how you are so familiar with our personnel? We have only been her a short time and have had no interactions with you or your crew that I am aware of." "Yes, that's something I'm wondering, too," Eian said, the annoyance creeping into his voice. He didn't take kindly to being transported without warning, and he liked it even less when T'Sek already knew his name. (reply T'Sek, any) (posted by Morgan G) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (OFT Harveq, Captain's Quarters, Ship's Master T'Sek - Day 3 - 1105) It seemed to T'Sek that he had managed to win at least the respect if not the trust of the two Federation officers, sitting in front of him, although it was apparent that they were still somewhat unsettled by the fact that T'Sek seemed to know more about them than they did about the Romulan Captain. "If I may." Ben finally asked. "I'd like to ask how you are so familiar with our personnel? We have only been her a short time and have had no interactions with you or your crew that I am aware of." "Yes, that's something I'm wondering, too," Eian said, a hint of annoyance creeping into his voice. T'Sek smiled. "Gentlemen, I completely understand." He replied, "When it became apparent that the Rosenante had taken over the investigation, it was an easy enough matter to find out who on board was going to be working on the Investigation. While I may not be the information broker that Quol Nor is, I certainly have a few tricks up my sleeve, thanks to my grandfather. I felt that it was a worthwhile precaution, considering the circumstances. After all, I could very well have been a suspect from the very beginning, and I would have found penal colony life quite uninteresting, I assure you." "Besides, I have a personal stake in seeing that Quol Nor is dealt justice. He has killed a valued member of my crew as well as put my business venture and my personal reputation and the reputation of my Grandfather at risk. I can not allow that to happen without sharing all that I know with you, so that you will have all the information that you need to do your job properly. " "Before I could approach you with this information, I had to be certain of the type of people that I would be dealing with. Station personnel are untrustworthy. I chose the two of you to meet me here because of your apparent skills. Mister Soma has helped solve a murder before. And you mister O'Neill, were exceptionally highly rated in profiling and criminal psychology in the academy. I determined that you could at least help mister Soma decide whether I was telling you the truth or not." (reply Soma, O'Neill) "I want nothing more than this to be finished, so that I can go on my way and deliver my cargo before it spoils. There is a sizable business investment here and if it should go bad, I would have to pay sizable indemnities to the Orion Free Traders Guild that underwrote my shipment. That is not a pleasant thought." (reply Soma, O'Neill) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (OFT Harveq, Captain's Quarters, CTAC/SEC Lt. jg Ben Soma- 1107) Ben couldn't help but pick up on the annoyance in Eian's tone of voice, the young officer had a few things to learn about diplomacy. Ben didn't like being swept up by a transporter anymore then the rest of the team but when dealing with someone on their own turf you bit your tongue. T'Sek didn't comment on the incident which was all well and good, there was no need to start a shouting match here when things were proceeding amicably. "Gentlemen, I completely understand." He replied, "When it became apparent that the Rosenante had taken over the investigation, it was an easy enough matter to find out who on board was going to be working on the Investigation. And you mister O'Neill, were exceptionally highly rated in profiling and criminal psychology in the academy. I determined that you could at least help mister Soma decide whether I was telling you the truth or not." Ben decided that T'Sek was very well informed, his involvement with the murder on Axtis III wasn't common knowledge. Those events happened while he was on shore leave with Sanok, some time ago and while they had been posted to another ship. The report of the incident went through the proper channels, but then again the information could have came directly from Axtis III. Ben had been fingered for the murder and almost hung for it, Sanok's diplomatic skills had literally saved his neck. "The information you provided us with along with the recovery of the data cube should be more then sufficient for a conviction." Ben said. "Once the cube is recovered and it's information reviewed an arrest will be made and we can put this behind us and move on. I have to admit that this is the least pleasant aspect of my job." "I want nothing more than this to be finished, so that I can go on my way and deliver my cargo before it spoils. (reply O'Neill, any) (posted by Milo Young) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (OFT Harveq - Captain's Quarters - ACEO Ensign Eian O'Neill - Day 3 - 1108*) "Before I could approach you with this information, I had to be certain of the type of people that I would be dealing with. And you mister O'Neill, were exceptionally highly rated in profiling and criminal psychology in the academy. I determined that you could at least help mister Soma decide whether I was telling you the truth or not." Eian frowned. As far as he knew, everything T'Sek knew could have been found out through connections in Starfleet and access to Starfleet files. Ben's involvement in the investigation of another murder, Eian thought, had to be on record as Ben was a security officer. And his own Academy records were in his Starfleet files. Still, something about the Romulan's body language bothered him. He knew he wasn't getting the whole story here. And Ben's reaction to T'Sek's answer indicated that there was more to it than Starfleet files. He leaned in before Ben spoke and said, "For what it's worth, Sir, it does seem like he's telling the truth." He figured Ben knew that a Romulan with Tal Shiar connections knew enough about faking body language and tone of voice to make himself seem like he was honest. But he hoped that his statement, especially with the reluctant prelude, indicated to T'Sek that he wasn't quite as good at profiling as the Romulan thought. He didn't like the idea of having a potential foe that knew what he could do. Ben responded, "The information you provided us with along with the recovery of the data cube should be more then sufficient for a conviction." Ben said. "Once the cube is recovered and it's information reviewed an arrest will be made and we can put this behind us and move on. I have to admit that this is the least pleasant aspect of my job." Eian gave Ben a glance that indicated he had something to say, hoping that his superior officer would pick up on it. He had an idea as to how they could catch Quol Nor in the act, and never tip him off as to just how much they knew. (reply any) (posted by Morgan G) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (OFT Harveq, Captain's Quarters, Ship's Master T'Sek - Day 3 - 1109) "Then we shall have to move ahead as quickly as possible, no doubt Quol Nor is aware of our visit with you and is probably becoming a little nervous." Soma answered. "There is a possibility of that, although I doubt that Quol Nor is going to consider that I might provide you with any useable information as to his involvement. no doubt the Ferengi thinks that his murder of my crewman was a sufficient warning to warn me off." T'Sek glanced over at O'Neill, who seemed as if he wanted to say something of importance. But when neither He nor Soma said anything, the younger, more impetuous ensign seemed to bury that desire. "It seems that we have concluded our dealings, gentlemen. Your doctor and security officer will be free to leave the ship as soon as they'd like."T'Sek said then, "Why don't we wait for them in the transporter room?" (reply none) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (OFT Harveq, Sickbay, Doctor Rosk- Day 3- 1110) Rosk, the Reman doctor had taken a great deal of time to organize his records and findings into a single coherent data file that the human doctor would no doubt find useful. In addition, he had raised the light level slightly, although by human standards it was still dark and murky. Nargo's body remained displayed on the medical examination table, along side the sample containers and other paraphernalia that was usually associated with autopsies. The Large Orion had been very well liked, and Rosk was well aware that the Orion contingent on the ship were all but screaming for revenge. At least he could now understand why T'Sek had agreed to meet with the Federation Officers. By using them to get to Quol Nor, he would insure that the Orion's thirst for revenge was satisfied. The door of the compartment rolled open, allowing Gorth and a bright ray of brilliant white light to enter. Rosk had to avert his sensitive eyes until the door cycled closed again. Only then could he truly see that Gorth had brought not only the human doctor, but also the Vulcan security officer as well. He stepped around the table, finally revealing himself his guests. "Hello." he stated in passable, although highly accented Federation Standard. "Welcome to my Lab. I am Doctor Rosk, this ship's Surgical Specialist. You must be Doctor Ikiho and Enzyme Sanhok. Welcome." (reply Ichijo, Sanok) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (OFT Harveq, Sickbay, CMO, Ens Kimiko Ichijo - Day 3- 1111) Kimiko followed her escort though the bare corridors, meeting no one on the way to the medical bay. The hallways were stark and without even the trim or carpeting found on a starfleet ship. ~It would be interesting to see how the bay was set up on this ship.~ Kimiko thought as she looked around surreptitiously ~For a merchant vessel, this place has a military feel, of course, since I haven’t been on a merchant vessel before, I’m not exactly the voice of authority~ Once they had departed the company of the captain and others, the tension dropped in her small party. The doctor focused on the task at hand. With the musculature system and the secondary systems of an Orion, it would make it a little easier to visualize the blade by the comparing the force that the blade was inserted; not to mention what those odd readings that she got off the blood sample. They arrived at their destination and the door slid open. Kimiko waited for the lights to come up when the Orion entered the room. When they didn’t, the doctor entered the room and found that it faintly illuminated. As she stood there letting her eyes adjust, a Reman stepped around the table and greeted her,"Hello." he stated in passable, although highly accented Federation Standard. "Welcome to my Lab. I am Doctor Rosk, this ship's Surgical Specialist. You must be Doctor Ikiho and Enzyme Sanhok. Welcome." “Thank you for your welcome.” Kimiko responded “it is a pleasure to greet another doctor, though I regret the circumstances” (Reply Rosk) Kimiko watched the doctor and wished that she could read his facial expressions. “I understand that Mr Nargo was a respected member of this crew and I mean no disrespect with my brevity, I wish to help locate the murderer as quickly as possible” (Reply Rosk) “Very well” Kimiko replied. She moved to the table while pulling out her tricorder. “we’ll get started” (Reply Rosk) (Posted by Jack) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (OFT Harveq, Sickbay, Doctor Rosk- Day 3- 1112) “Thank you for your welcome.” his Federation counterpart responded “it is a pleasure to greet another doctor, though I regret the circumstances” "Indeed, it is always a displeasure when you must perform autopsies." Kimiko regarded him for a moment before she continued, “I understand that Mr Nargo was a respected member of this crew and I mean no disrespect with my brevity, I wish to help locate the murderer as quickly as possible” "He was very important to the com-" A slight pause, "Captain. And I completely understand. I will allow you to take a few samples for you to analyze should you wish." the Reman replied. “Very well” Kimiko replied. She moved to the table while pulling out her tricorder. “we’ll get started” Rosk stood aside, prepared to answer any questions that the Federation doctor might pose to him. He was certain that she was more than capable of conducting her work without his interference and so he simply stated out of the way and quiet while she worked. The Reman doctor gave a good look at the Vulcan accompanying her. He was strong, as were all members of his species. Rosk had always been intrigued by the way that Vulcans were able to so completely control their emotions. It was often a matter of speculation to him whether it was done through a matter of sheer willpower and determination or if there was a biological answer for the ability. Finally unable to stifle the curiosity any longer Rosk simply asked him. "Excuse me, Ensign Vulcan" he began, "But I was wondering if I might ask you a somewhat personal question?" (reply Ichijo, Sanok) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (OFT Harveq, Sickbay, Ensign sg Sanok, 1115) While the two doctors were discussing the case, Sanok noticed that the Reman kept glancing at him. The glance weren't furtive, so there probably wasn't anything covert he desired to say. He didn't seem to be nervous either. Sanok's curiosity was piqued. "Excuse me, Ensign Vulcan, but I was wondering if I might ask you a somewhat personal question?" said Rosk. Sanok eyed Doctor Rosk. Vulcans didn't typically talk about personal things, but Sanok wasn't the typical Vulcan. Besides, Rosk seemed to be sincere and hadn't been rude or forward. "You may ask," said Sanok. Before the Reman could say anything, Doctor Ichijo made an announcement about what her scans had discovered. The Orion had been murdered in the identical way Captain Taylor had been. Internally, nothing was different. This caused Sanok's thoughts to return to what he had considered the night before while in a base observation lounge. He believed he had discerned who and what the murderer was, and these results seemed to confirm those suspicions. He would need to tell Ben. The two doctors conversed, and once finished, Ichijo stated that she needed to return to the Rosenante. "I need to process this data on the ship. If you could let Lieutenant Soma know that we are heading back." Sanok nodded. They were getting closer to solving the crime. (reply none) (posted by Bob) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (OFT Harveq, Sickbay, CMO, Ens Kimiko Ichijo - Day 3- 1116) Kimiko examined the doctor's work and there was nothing to fault him with. The incisions and specimens were what she would expect from any well trained and conscientious doctor. Kimiko noticed that the doctor had moved over to speak with Sanok. After running routine scans over the organs and comparing the appearance with the Padd, she moved to the body. She reviewed the data the Reman provided as she followed the trajectory of the blade with her scanner; in the back of her mind she took note of the Orion's musculature. ~Enhanced, I should have guessed~ She compared the results with the captain’s injury ~wait a moment~ Kimiko thought ~this is not possible, the injuries match within the millimeter, and the curve is slightly different~ If it had been a flexible blade then there would be injuries from the wound stretching slightly as well as the effort required to get though the dense muscle and fascia. She completed the scans, gathered the energy signatures, and stated, “I have found something interesting” She glance and the doctor. “I would like for you to confirm this data.” She lowered the brightness of her padd to same level as on his recorder and placed her results of the autopsy, specifically of the damage to the heart, next to his. (Reply Rosk) “The injuries are not similar, but identical. This is not possible, considering the two bodies’ varying densities. Not with a sword and not though nonmechanical means.” (Reply Rosk) “Have you seen this done before by any single being?” (Reply Rosk) “Hum, well I think that I have information that I need I have no doubt that this information will help us find the killer. I thank you for your time.” She looked at the Orion and stated “I believe that I would like to return to the Starbase now. Please” Kimiko turned to Sanok and stated “I need to process this data on the ship, if you could let Lieutenant Soma know that we are heading back.” (Reply Sanok) (Posted by Jack) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (OFT Harveq, Sickbay, Doctor Rosk- Day 3- 1118) Rosk stood aside watching as the federation doctor went about her work. It seemed that medicine, at least between his people and the people of the federation, wasn't so very different after all. "I have found something interesting," she said to Rosk as she gave him a fleeting glance, "I would like for you to confirm this data." Rosk nodded and made his way across the room. By the time that he had arrived, Ichijo had managed to lower the brightness of her tricorder's display in deference to his intolerance for light. "The injuries are not similar, but identical. This is not possible, considering the two bodies’ varying densities. Not with a sword and not though non-mechanical means” she explained as she took the proffered device and reviewed her data. "You are correct doctor. Does this surprise you for some reason?" Something he said or perhaps the way that he had said it must have triggered some sort of suspicion in her. He response indicated as much. “Have you seen this done before by any single being?” "Not directly, no." he replied, honestly enough. “Hum, well I think that I have information that I need I have no doubt that this information will help us find the killer. I thank you for your time.” Rosk nodded his head, thankful that she had not pressed the issue. She looked at the Orion and stated “I believe that I would like to return to the Starbase now. Please” Kimiko turned to Sanok and stated “I need to process this data on the ship, if you could let Lieutenant Soma know that we are heading back.” The Vulcan officer nodded and Rosk missed his chance to get an answer to his question concerning a Vulcan and his emotions. ~Oh well perhaps another time~ He thought as the Orion escorts led his guests from the sickbay and to the transporter room.
