USS_Rosenante_The_Veil_of_the_Sky_Compile_8 =============== Mission: Veil of the Sky Day: 2 Stardate: 2414.04.23 --------------- (USS Rosenante - Ready Room - CO - Capt. Ahmed Ibn Salid - Day 2 - 2206) (USS Rosenante - Ready Room - CO - Capt. Ahmed Ibn Salid - Day 2 - 2210) (Beta Aquillia IV - Atlantis Station - JAG Lt. Nayeli - 2359) --------------- (USS Rosenante - Ready Room - CO - Capt. Ahmed Ibn Salid - Day 2 - 2206) The ex-Privateer and the ex-Starfleet Ranger sat across from the skipper as he spoke; "Thank you gentlemen for being so punctual," the captain began, "As you know this is a difficult and very time sensitive mission. We’re lacking for solid intelligence of the events taking place on the ground. So in lieu of that, we're going to have to adapt our mission and conduct our own intelligence gathering operation." "I would like for you two to make your way to the surface and take steps to collect critical intelligence to help us with our mission. I will need to you locate and put into a place a means to track the leadership of the Veil of the Sky. I need Intel on operations, strongpoints and contacts. I need organizational data, and I need an assessment of the Veil's true capabilities." "It would be helpful if you could also make progress into discovering who their backer is, capture some weaponry for analysis, and see what else you may be able to discern. In addition our primary mission is to locate Ambassador Turner." "So to be succinct your mission is to gather intelligence, including the location of key Veil operators, uncover what you can of their supporters, operations, deployment and capabilities, and to locate the holding location of Ambassador Turner and her staff. You are not under any circumstances to interfere with any leadership of the Veil, nor are you to conduct any rescue operations unless it is clear that loss of life is imminent. Do I make myself clear on this matter?" "I understand Captain." Mike replied, "I don't like the last part of your orders, but I understand them and will respect them." “Yes sir; I understand and will do my best to adhere to your orders.” He answered. (Reply Salid, Rosenbauer iyw) “If I may sir, I suggest Mike and I not have any insignia or documentation that identifies us as Starfleet personnel. Also, before we go we need a couple of hours to double check some dated information.” (Reply Salid and/or Rosenbauer) “Years ago I came here with my grandfather and we stayed in the capital city. About 6 blocks from the government central was an establishment that political aides, military officers and various other types would gather to talk and whatnot. I want to see if it is still there because it may be a good place to start sir. It would also make a good spot to establish our cover, whatever that may turn out to be when we get there.” (Reply Salid and/or Rosenbauer) (Reply Salid and/or Rosenbauer) (Posted by Charlie) --------------- (USS Rosenante - Ready Room - CO - Capt. Ahmed Ibn Salid - Day 2 - 2210) "Yes sir; I understand and will do my best to adhere to your orders." Chance replied. "Do either of you have any ideas on how you might undertake your mission?" Ahmed asked. "If I may sir, I suggest Mike and I not have any insignia or documentation that identifies us as Starfleet personnel. Also, before we go we need a couple of hours to double check some dated information." "Agreed, It's not much of a black ops mission if you're covered in starfleet insignia." Ahmed replied. "Years ago I came here with my grandfather and we stayed in the capital city. About 6 blocks from the government central was an establishment that political aides, military officers and various other types would gather to talk and whatnot. I want to see if it is still there because it may be a good place to start sir. It would also make a good spot to establish our cover, whatever that may turn out to be when we get there." "Alright, proceed as you think best in that regards. I will place the captain's yacht at your discretion, as it's not widely recognizable and with a little work by engineering it can be stripped of the Starfleet insignia and markings. I'll have engineering undertake that job once we reach orbit. Before you depart, I want a briefing detailing a rough outline of your mission. That will be all gentlemen, you are dismissed." (reply none needed) Daniel Greene --------------- (Beta Aquillia IV - Atlantis Station - JAG Lt. Nayeli - 2359) "You take that side and I'll take this side. A few things you should remember. Direct the walking wounded down here at present. We can move them on later when the camps are set up. I don't think we will find any seriously wounded people in this hotel otherwise Miss McNulty would have already informed us, but if you do find someone, don't linger. Tag them, call their position in and then move on. You're not going to be able to help that person by staying but you could help someone else by moving on." "Head wounds are tricky and if you aren't sure it's better to err on the side of caution rather than ignore it. I'd rather see my teams go pick someone up who doesn't need it than miss something so if you are unsure about any injury call it in and leave it to the rescue teams." Nayeli payed close attention, one thing she had been hand-picked for as a JAG and occasional SFI operative was her ability to remember details. She was particularly good at visual information, but other modes weren't far behind. The Doctor continued as Nayeli gave a short nod, bnot wanting to interupt. Josh turned to go down her own corridor and stopped. "Oh Lieutenant..." Tossing her what looked like an old fashioned key card, she smiled. "I had hotel security replicate this. It's a master key card for all the rooms. Saves us keeping the info on our padd and trying to deal with any jamming the Veil might set up. Whatever the heck you do, don't lose that card or you and I will be in very serious trouble. OK. " Nayeli smiled slightly, "Of course, I would never want to get a fellow officer in trouble." "One final thing Lieutenant. We are not yet authorised to leave the hotel grounds so make sure that you stay within the security perimeter regardless of who you are treating. I'd really prefer not having to explain you sudden demise to Stafleet HQ. Are we clear on this?" Nayeli nodded, "As crystal Doctor." She headed down the hallway and stopped at the first door. She expertly flicked the keycard in the lock and went through, tags clattering at her belt. That efficiency would obviously increase with additional layers of net being applied. I can pull otherwise uncommitted Enlisted personnel for this — perhaps even waking those normally on your Gamma shift. I could even reprogram and deploy my exocomp to assist in the matter. The systems required are, as you know from my outline, a cargo transporter, an industrial replicator, and one holodeck – along with its independent energy matrix and processing capabilities. After initial set-up, the process could essentially be automated." Lanista replied. "Excellent, we have a limited crew on-board, but feel free to recruit anyone that can be spared. this mission is now a high priority. What about delivery of the probes?" He asked. “Delivery would be best achieved," Lani' went on, "via the Rosenante’s torpedo tubes, with the micro-probes loaded in a MIRV configuration within normal-sized housings. The system aboard the maQmIgh is technically up to the task, but could not accomplish the task in any time-sensitive way. The nanites intended initially to be used to disable the freighters, however, could still be used in the assault on the spacedock. A tunneling neutrino ray could poke hole enough in the station’s shielding to allow delivery. The nanites could then lower the shields of the spacedock. That would facilitate transporter boarding.” "That's a good idea, but I want to keep the maQmlgh as an ace in the whole. If we are fortunate, we'll reveal the mysterious benefactors behind the Veil and when we do, I want to be able to disable their ship and give them a very good reason to reconsider their position in all this mess. I'm willing to bet they have one close by, and when they decide to try to strong arm us or escape, I want the maQmlgh ready to even the odds. With the majority of our crew on the planet, we'll need a bit of an equalizer and your ship is it." (reply Lanista) "I want you three to be prepared to take part in the assault on the station. you have your orders. I want your plan put together and ready for deployment no later than 1500. Mister Lanista, I want to know as soon as the probes are ready to be deployed. I want that sensor net up as soon as is possible." (reply Lanista, Fraiser, Signos) "Mister Signos, you and Lanista will meet the Ambassador in Transporter room one at 0920 hours. You are to escort him and his staff to the observation lounge. Do not be late. You are dismissed." (reply Lanista, Fraiser, Signos) Daniel Greene --------------- (USS Rosenante - Ready Room- CSO, Lt. tlha’nISta’- Day 3- 0901) "That's a good idea," said the Captain, "but I want to keep the maQmlgh as an ace in the whole. With the majority of our crew on the planet, we'll need a bit of an equalizer and your ship is it." “maj,” Lani’ said. ‘Good!’ in Klingon. “I’ll review the specifications of likely Cardassian warships. Romulan vessels I am already well acquainted with. My family business unfortunately required … familiarity.” (reply Salid/any) "I want you three to be prepared to take part in the assault on the station. You have your orders. I want your plan put together and ready for deployment no later than 1500. Mister Lanista, I want to know as soon as the probes are ready to be deployed. I want that sensor net up as soon as is possible." “I will concentrate on the sensor net, and defer to the judgment of Signos and Fraiser regarding my part in the boarding action. The maQmIgh is prepped for action and ready to launch at your command.” (Reply Salid, Fraiser, Signos) "Mister Signos, you and Lanista will meet the Ambassador in Transporter room one at 0920 hours. You are to escort him and his staff to the observation lounge. Do not be late. You are dismissed." (Reply Salid, Fraiser, Signos) As tlha’nISta’ left the Ready Room with the other two officers dismissed by the CO, she considered first dressing in Klingon regalia before meeting this bellicose Prince Dralar, but there wasn’t time. It also seemed like the sort of self-indulgent act the Captain would neither consent to nor condone. “Thoughts,” Lani’ said to Fraiser and Signos. The Klingon/Vulcan hybrid was tapping on her PADD, calling up the Federation’s Intel on known Cardassian warship classes. (Reply Fraiser, Signos) (Posted by Frank) --------------- (Beta Aquillia IV, Atlantis Station – Refugee Center, COPS, Lt Tom Jackson Day 3, 1013) Tom was saddened as he and Parker worked on the injured Aquillans. War injuries Tom could understand but this the injuries the child laying before him saddened and enraged him. The child was a little girl about two or three Tom guessed. She was crying and scared. He imagined this was what his daughter Hope might look like at the same age. Tom gently cleaned her wounds and spike to her softly. He knelt down to be at her level and smiled . "Hi, my name is Tom. What's yours?" he asked. Fearful brown eyes joined at him for a ling time. The little girl answered "Mikala". "Hi Mikala. You know I have a little girl about three months old. Her name is Hope . I sure do miss her" Tom said truthfully. Mikala remained quiet. Tom needed to complete her assessment. "Hey you know what? I need to make sure you are ok. I will wave this over you. It tells me how you feel. Why don't you scan me? he asked. Mikala seemed unsure. Tom ran it cover him to show her it would not hurt. " O.k. your turn" Tom said as he handed her the tri-corder. Mikaela ran the scanner over Ton's arm. As it made its usual chirps and beeps she giggled . .She turned the device back to Tom. "Ok now you" Tom said. The scan reveled no broken or cracked items. Jackson sighed with relief. "Where are your parents?" Tom asked. "I don't know" the child added. "Hey, want to help me till we find them?" he asked. (Reply: None) (Posted: Bill W ) --------------- (Beta Aquillia IV - Atlantis Station - President in Exile- Kaloth- Day 3 - 1015) Kaloth had waited longer than he would have liked, but he wasn't about to complain since he understood probably better than anyone else how much he actually needed to Federation to help him with his present problem. After a time he was shown into a compartment, a room converted into an office, which was occupied by a human woman that disappointedly wore an ensign's rank pin. ~Do I rate so low below the mark that they send me to speak to an ensign?~ Kaloth asked himself inwardly. “Sir, Ensign Blake Turner. I'm in charge of security at the Atlantis Station. How can I be of assistance?” the woman stated as she rose from her seat and offered her hand in the customary human fashion. Kaloth put on his best smile, the one that frightened the humans the least and took the woman's hand firmly within his own. He then added his other hand to the grip, in an effort to emulate the friendly handshake that Ambassador Turner had once taken the time to explain to him. "Thank you Miss Turner" Kaloth said as he released her slightly too-cool hand. "I know you must be very busy, and I appreciate the time that you have given me to meet with you. My name is Kaloth and I am president of Beta Aquillia IV, although it may not seem to be the case from your seat." "I have come to ask what sort of commitment and support we can expect from our Federation allies in dealing with our current crisis? I have long been waiting for your arrival, knowing that my allies would not allow us to be swept aside by such violent and fanatical elements as the Veil of the Sky. I would like to begin aiding you, by participating in all security and operational meetings and helping to coordinate our military forces with your own. Now that you are here, we can take back the planet and restore the relationship that the Federation and my world has long enjoyed. I would also very much like to speak with Ambassador turner whenever she has some time to spare." (reply Blake Turner) Daniel Greene =============== Compiled by Milo Young ===============
