Cmdr Ben Soma - Day 2 – 2341.5) Things were progressing admirably, so far everyone had done their best to complete the tasks set before them. They had begun processing the refuges and Ben was glad to see there were no critically wounded among them. Sure there were a few bumps and bruises, cuts and scrapes as well as a couple broken bones but no one was on deaths door. With the addition of the security forces from the Rose Ben could sense that the inhabitants of Atlantis station were becoming a little more relaxed if only by a fraction. Patrols were seen in greater frequency adding to that sense of reduced tension. Ben was making his rounds checking everything out as he went, taking note of future needs and current demand on their supplies. For now they could handle things but soon they would be dealing with more and more displaced inhabitants and demand would increase as a result. Ben moved on through the checkpoints and watched everyone trying to gauge their reactions and current state of mind. His combadge chimed an incoming message. =/\=Atlantis Station. This is Lt Alaya. I want to speak to the person in charge of those interefering Starfleet officers that we know are there.=/\= Came a female voice. Ben tapped his combadge to reply. "Lieutenant Alaya, this is Lieutenant Commander Ben Soma." =/\=Our glorious leader, Habrii, wishes to speak with you.=/\= Came the reply. "I'd be more than happy to speak with your leader Lieutenant." Ben said. "We can begin negotiating a cease fire agreement and talks on future relations between our peoples." What sounded like a laugh emitted from the combadge before Alaya replied. =/\=Oh no. He wishes to speak to you to discuss the immediate withdrawal of all federation staff.=/\= "I'm sorry to hear that Lieutenant." Ben replied. "It was our hope that we could continue our trade relations with the Aquillian's. However if your leader doesn't want that I'm sure we can reach some compromise that would benefit both our peoples." Alaya smiled and said, “The only thing that we want is the immediate withdrawal of you and your people, Mister Soma. That is it.” (reply Soma) “Well, our ambassador will contact you at some point but be warned, we do not suffer fools gladly. Any attempt at bringing concealed weapons to any meeting will not be tolerated. Do I make myself clear?” (Reply Soma) “Then await further instructions.” she replied and shut off the Comm. Sitting back into her chair, Alaya sighed in relief. Speaking to the humans made her nervous and uneasy. These particular humans were an unknown quantity and she could not be sure of what their intentions were. Although she had one back up plan in order, her mind wandered to what was happening in the refugee camps that they knew had been set up. Knowing that something had to be done, Alaya left her office and said to the young person outside, “I will be unreachable for the rest of the night. If anyone wishes to contact me.... take a message and explain I will respond when I return.” (Reply No-one) (Posted by Jackie Smith) --------------- (Beta Aquillia IV - Atlantis Station - FO- Lt. I don't think its salvageable, but we might be able to use it for materials. We'll set up the rest of them in there and there." replied Matrix as he pointed out where he was thinking. "See what you can salvage from whats left, we'll request a replacement as soon as possible." Ben replied. Steve went about issuing a few orders and checking a few things out before turning back to Ben. "Ben, all but the first shelter has been set up. We managed to destroy one on the decent…I've asked my crew if they can make repairs…one side of the roof was ripped open. So far everything else is looking good. Supplies are being staged." said Matrix as he looked around and noticed how dark it was out. "The shelter's a write off Steve, guess we should be thankful we managed to land without losing more." Ben replied. "I'll request a replacement shelter when I contact the Rose, lets hope this is our only set back." "I'm getting that gut feeling again…I don't like this…I feel like we're sitting ducks here." said Matrix. Ben knew what Steve meant, they were easy targets sitting in this glass ball. "The Station's security forces have been able to keep things monitored and under wraps up till now, they'll give us a heads up if anything happens." Ben said. "Last I heard the sentries were razor thin." replied Matrix. "True." Ben stated. "They are over extended but we should be able to augment their forces with our own security personnel." "Can we send down more security?" asked Matrix. "That's a good idea and one I'm certain Sanok would endorse." Ben replied. "I'll request extra security when I contact the Rose with an update on our status and current needs." (Reply any iyw) --------------- (Beta Aquillia IV–The Meeting – QM/ Strat Ops- LT Chance Raschen - 0301) The Meeting was interesting to say the least. The establishment offered all kinds of debauchery, foods, drinks, and not one single private room. This was where the politics of government policy, military contracts, and secret meetings truly took place in the capital area. The best part of all was if you stood in the right place you could see it all right before your beady little eyes. The bad part you were also visible for the world to see in the dark lighted area. Entrance had a hefty cover charge per patron and each weapon you took in with you. One received their first drink at the bar located by the front door and then walked around until you found a place to sit that you liked. Eventually, only the ones that arrived early enough could get a place to sit. “Well Mike, So far so good.” Chance said to his partner as they entered the club. While they weren't much of a threat to the yacht, Mike had been concerned that they wouldn't be able to land and as a result that their mission would end before it had begun. Yet somehow Chance had managed to convince the pilots of those craft that they should be allowed to land and after a few minutes of concern, they touched down in the space port without incident. Some gold-pressed latinum insured that their ship wasn't to be impounded, or stripped for component parts. A few more strips acquired them transportation to the melting pot of the wretched souls that always seemed to congregate on the dying carcass of any newly fallen regime. The club was more upscale than Mike would have thought, the glass in the windows was intact, the hard wood floor worn but polished, and the hum of hundreds of voices filled the room. An entire platoon of Veil soldiers surrounded the building, standing sentry-like at each entrance and exit and monitoring everyone that entered or left the premises. Despite his doubts, Mike was pleased that Chance had once again worked his magic and that they had managed to somehow gain entry into this seedy pocket of despicable souls. “Well Mike, So far so good.” Chance said to his partner as they entered the club. "Yeah, let's hope our luck holds out." Mike replied as he glanced around the room, taking in its trappings, dimensions and occupants. How do we find the people we're looking for among this rabble?" he asked. "That part is easy; we are looking for a fight to break out that involves money and equipment." the ex-privateer replied. "To involve ourselves in, or to observe?" Mike asked. "Observations?" the Captain said in all bluntness. Lani took the lead which Jessica was coming to know has some need for Klingon to be the first to be heard. Jessica and Lily both knew the need to keep quite and let others take the lead. Lani almost caused the alliance to fail, But quick words seemed to curb some of the growing tension. "To say this Alliance rest on an knife edge is being... generous. Ambassador Dralar is under an large amount of pressure to act. It's not in his people to wait, and that could become problematic. The assault on the space dock can be used to our advantage." She let her words sink in before she continued. Jessica knew it was a risk it always was when she brought her alter ego up in conversation but some times it was a necessary evil. "I remain concerned, Captain, that Dralar and his birdmen have already concluded diplomacy will fail. While I can fully understand – and even envy – being in a position to visit violent reprisal upon this planet, I don’t see the need for it. Dralar and Jovek want for bloodshed. That much is clear. Even before this meeting, Dralar mentioned making tactical preparations should diplomacy fail. Jo’ veH, whose name would actually mean the ‘limitations of the machine’ in Klingon, would pursue this mechanically. ‘Collateral damage’ would be equated to ‘acceptable losses’. Dralar, on the strength of an honor-claim against me alone, was willing to sacrifice peace with the Federation. That either of them was that close to that stance was something that needed to be discovered. We have an expression in the Empire, sir. Essentially, ‘test it till it breaks.’ This alliance is nearly broken already if it can be challenged by a few off-hand remarks from a junior officer. Perhaps reinforcements would be prudent…" "To say this Alliance rest on an knife edge is being... generous. Ambassador Dralar is under an large amount of pressure to act. The Federation would have to react with sending reinforcements, and the Veil would be largely organized on the surface. Someone is building a blood bath." It was an interesting thought, that the real theory behind the situation wasn't to really wrest control of a resource rich planet from the Federation, but to create a blood-filled rift between the federation and their allies. Jessica locked eyes with the Captain. "You know I have advanced training in identifying such mass scaled terrorist tactics." So she took the mission one hurdle of the time. She sat behind a tactical console looking over a holographic display of the station.Jessica was thankful that she was able to find the space dock design schematics on the Rosenante's computer. It was a small victory that allowed her to plan and to more accurately estimate how many enemy personnel may be on the station. From old station manifests she was able to estimate the stations complement of personnel to be close to six hundered in strength. She also estimated that more than half of that number would be engineers, scientist, and medical staff. Also she had to take into account the displaced crews of the freighters would they be on the station and if so could she expect them to help with a zero loss of life maybe she could use them to help run the station after it was secured. There was also the need to take the weaponized core and command center, and engineering has quickly as possible. To Jessica these were the most important targets, but that would be of no use if they couldn't get past the stations shields. While Jessica knew some S31 methods to hack into the shielding command code from a remote computer station such actions were risky. But it was a numbers game the depleted numbers of security personnel left on the Rose just would not be enough to over come the space docks superior numbers. It was a risky venture and it could leave the Rose with far to few security officers to respond if any thing happened on the planet below but a plan was forming in the mind of the assassin. It was an impossible goal, that required a impossible mission, planned by someone who had accomplished both. Jessica planned a two wave assault with a third wave for reinforcements. It was the third wave that Jessica did not want to see used because if so that meant they were leaving the Rose and forces on the planet with out support they may need. The first wave would include three, ten man assault teams. The first assault team would go after station control to gain control of the station. This team would also lock all security blast doors and airlocks, this would separate the station defenders and cause chaos around the ship. while allowing federation teams to move freely, Since they would have the access to open those doors at will. Jessica would advise the Captain to have Frasier to lead this team. True she would see action and would have to lead in a assault like scenario it would also be the easiest to gain. Since once control was gained she could close the blast doors and seal her team inside and still offer support. Like lowering the shields so reinforcements could be teleprted in The second team would need to gain control of engineering and all the sensitive systems that lied in that area not an easy task since most engineering area's had multiple entry ways and accesses. Jessica wanted to see Lani lead this group she was more tactical versed than Frasier and had some knowledge in engineering that would prove valuable there. Jessica would take lead of the third group, that groups mission was to find and secure the core. Since the core could be in a number of places on the station her team would have to move though the station till they found it thus it was more likely that her team would encounter the majority of the station defenders. It was also her belief that once the core was secured the station security would bring has much force has possible to get the core back. Of the ones planning this mission it was Jessica that had the tactical experience that finding, securing and holding the core required. In her mind it was also the most dangerous. The Second wave would be three more ten men teams that if the three primary objectives were accomplished they would begin to clear the station arrest and detail it's personnel and begin holding operations till they could be released back to the surface. If the primary objectives were not secured the second wave would move in support of those objectives. The final wave was of two eight man teams and were there only if the entire mission seemed to be falling apart Jessica direly hoped they would not be needed. Jessica downloaded her plans onto a PADD and went to brief the Captain on what she felt the best plan of action would be to assault the space dock and secure it. --------------- (USS Rosenante - Captain's Waiting Room - ATAC Ensign (sg) Jessica Signos - Day 3- 1310) She pressed the chime on the console that would announce her at the captains door, and waited to be allowed in. It wasn't long before the door's before her slid open and she was granted permission to enter. Jessica entered and came to stand before the desk of the Captain. She handed over the PADD. "These are the plans I have for the time being for taking the space dock. I'm sure and have every faith that Lt. Lanista is working on a way to by pass the stations shielding. Leaving me to focus on the more tactical issues. Please Captain tell me your concerns?" (reply Salid) (posted by Matthew Locke) --------------- (Beta Aquillia IV-Atlantis Station- FO- Lt. Cmdr Ben Soma- Day 3, 1630) =/\=I am also pleased to hear from you Commander. It is my hope that we can come to an agreement concerning our current situation quickly and efficiently. However, I am working under very strict requirements, and if there is to be any discussion between us, there are some limitations that I must adhere to." Tzorn replied. "while I would normally welcome a truly neutral location to hold our discussions I do not know that such a place exists currently. However, I have been authorized to conduct our meetings at the prior site of your Federation Embassy. It is a place with which you are already familiar and one that serves my new government's purposes as well. We have many things to discuss commander and I urge you to consider my offer of location carefully. I have been told that if you were to refuse that there will be no further negotiations between us and that, as you know would prove very disastrous for us all. you can, of course bring a small staff and some security personnel, armed, if you like. We would be able to meet with you tomorrow morning at 0900 hours local time.=/\= Ben didn't like ultimatums, he would have preferred a location that was more neutral but the Ambassador had a point. They needed to negotiate with the Veil and if he had to acquiesce to their choice of locations so be it. There was a lot riding on this and he wanted the talks to go smoothly, lives depended on how he handled the current situation. "I respect your position Ambassador." Ben replied. "The Federation Embassy will be an acceptable meeting place, I'll join you there at 0900 with a small delegation. I hope we can resolve the current situation quickly and in a way that may benefit all." (reply Tzorn iyw) After Ben was finished with the Ambassador he contacted the Rosenante. "Soma to Rosenante." He said. "An Ambassador Tzorn has just contacted me to open negotiations, the meeting will take place at 0900 tomorrow local time at the Federation Embassy. He has graciously allowed me a small staff and a couple armed security officers. I'd like a couple of the Skorian craft to fly recon over the site if possible, I'd like a look at what we're heading into." (reply Rosenante) "Understood, Soma out." Ben replied closing the channel. Peace is the hope of the diplomats and war the hope of the warmonger. I hope only that we are both diplomats. Until tomorrow commander." Tzorn closed the channel and let out a breath of relief as he settled backwards into Ambassador Turner's chair. "That went better than expected." he said to himself aloud, knowing there was no one nearby to overhear him. "Now I have to be the sort of diplomat I despise..." he mumbled as he frowned, "An inflexible one." He took a moment to consider his situation and then turned to open another channel to his handlers so that they would know that everything was in order. (reply Sheridan) Daniel Greene --------------- (Beta Aquillia IV - Atlantis Station - Hotel Owner - Niambh McNulty - Day 3 - 1638) Niambh had been feeling more and more useless since the Federation had arrived. Not exactly something she had imagined she would feel and certainly not something she was happy about. This was after all her hotel and whilst she was happy to see a Federation presence here and was more than willing to work with them she was getting more and more annoyed that she was being ignored. Having been tipped off by David that the senior Federation Officer had agreed to meet with Ambassador Tzorn Niambh tracked Commander Soma down and, because she was the hotel owner, managed to talk her way in to see him. Niambh did waste any time on pleasantries when she spoke to him but got right to the point. "Commander Soma I believe you are meeting with a representative of the Veil soon. I would like to be included in your delegation since I am the owner of the only point of contact you have on the surface at present." (Reply Soma) (Posted by Marilyn) --------------- (USS Rosenante- Bridge- OPS NCOIC - MCPO Phil Sheridan Day 3, 1639) Phil was getting a lot of bridge duty. Like most crusty old NCOs, he felt the enlisted personnel really ran things. Over the years there had been a few officers that he had come to respect one was the Rose's skipper and the other was Tom Jackson . Phil's thoughts re-focused sd hr heard the Captain order "Chief Sheridan. Get someone to run a series of scans on the old Federation embassy in the capital city. Have a live feed of orbital images made available and have all pertinent data on Tzorn sent to commander Soma. Have it in place before 1745 hours. Let me know if you encounter any issues." Phil acknowledged the orders with a simple " Aye Captain ". Sheridan began his tasks. He walked to the tac/sec duty officer and asked "Please scan the old federation embassy site in the capital city. Forward the results to me and thanks" Phil added. "What exactly are we looking for Chief?" the young woman asked in reply. Sheridan thought for a few moments before replying. " Well, first off figure out who is in and around the area in question. Isolate out our people. This might give a clue to who's backing the uprising Next, I'd check for anything that is NOT normally associated with a Federation Embassy. Its very possible there might be boobytraps. That should so it" Sheridan concluded. The officer nodded her understanding. Sheridan's next step was to get a live feed of orbital inages made available . Phil walked back to OPS and pondered his options. There were some communications satellites in orbit. He scanned them and smiled. Seems they also had video links. ~Hmm I bet I can redirect those for our use~ Sheridan mused. His fingers danced on the ops board. Phil chuckled remembering how his mom made him take piano lessons. Sheridan had used those skills playing piano in some of the quadrant's worst dives before he joined the fleet. He turned to digging up the dirt on Ambassador Tzorn. (Reply: None) (Posted by: Bill W.)
