(Reply: T'Larah) Tom spoke to his desire to start working after he settled Dahlia in. T'Larah stooped him before he could continue with “Negative, it was a long night and you have to get your family settled in. I’m going to give you a late call. 1100 hours tomorrow report to the OPS station on the bridge, I don’t want to see you before that, understood?” T’Larah warned. Tom was greatful because in all honesty he was beat. He thanked her " I understand Commander and thank you". T'Larah continued "Good, that’s settled then. Mrs. Jackson. I see you are with child, congratulations to you both.” She said the words she selected were warmer than her even tone. Dahlia smiled and replied " Thank you Commander. It is good to be home among our family once again. The twins and I are doing well". T'Larah nodded and added“I understand that, but I insist that you make an appoino see one of our doctors in sickbay. I’d recommend Dr. Oren, she’s a surgeon, but more than qualified for a preliminary obstetrics check up, just to make sure everything is going smoothly.” She said. " Alright Commander. I promise first thing tomorrow" Dahlia agreed. Now it was time to place everything into action. He entered the Travelers Hall with a practiced air of authority his arms placed soildly in the position of dominance. He made his way to talk to the Hall's keeper, a pair of guards at his side. Darsel knew the man who approched him, most in the market knew of Kenovan most feared him, before the death of his two older brothers Kenovan was House Rajl duelest. He had settled many matters the had plagued the Rajl house, the fact that he was here to stand before him was a testament of his ability. But things had changed with his brothers dead and Kenovan now next in line to inherit the family fortune and position. He was duty bound to find a Lady of the house who would secure the lineage of the Rajl house for the next generation. If this came to pass the Rajl house's future looked promising. "H... ho... how... can I help you" Darsel asked has Kenovan approached. "A group came here last eve, I wish to speak to there house master. I have a proposition for him." Kenovan answered. "I am sorry, we have many merchant families that stay here." Darsel replied." "They traveled with a female with eyes the color of the Lun'ette blossom, Hall keeper you know of me you know that I can a fair man just has well has my past has a duelist has preceded me here. I will make it worth your while." Kenovan replied placing a small bag upon the counter within was a small assortment of coins. "For your cooperation and silence in this matter I was never here, all will come to light has Awoa wishes." Kenowan continued. Darsel wrote the room of the party requested on a small piece of paper like parchment. "Many thanks, Lord Rajl" Darsel spoke has he scooped the small bag of the counter and felt the weight of what lied with in it's confines. Kenovan likewise scooped the small piece of parchment from the counter and read the where the rooms where located. He and his guards made there way further into the confines of the Traveler's Hall. Already familiar with the layout of the hall it did not take Kenovan and his guards long to locate the rooms they sought to find. He knocked on one of the door that were held by the party, one of three, it was still early yet and he hoped that the house master nor his daughter had yet left the Hall for whatever business they had in the city. Due to the time he knew it would be difficult to find and places opened before the rise of the second dawn. He knocked again. This time the door opened. "I am Kenovan of the merchant house Rajl I wish to speak to the house master." (reply any takers) (posted by Matthew Locke) ------------------------- (Asrai Prime - Celdebrai City - Travelers Hall - Lt. Sanok - 0757) The away team had a long first day studying the local culture, trying to learn as much as they could. As a result, they had remained awake until a late hour, discussing the information gathered. At the current hour the next morning, Sanok was awake meditating, while some still slept, and others were using what facilities were available to get ready for the new day. There was a knock at the door. Sanok opened his eyes, sitting for a moment, allowing his mind to refocus. There was another knock. The second was more forceful than the first. Sanok got up and moved to the door. He pressed the side of his head to it and listened for a moment. He could hear someone, but he was unable to discern anything more than that. With his weapon at hand, he partially opened the door, making sure to keep half his body blocking it so it couldn't be forced open any further. Three men were there, two standing behind the one that had knocked. The two behind were obviously guards, but the first was dressed in the garb of a wealthy merchant. He was standing in a position of confidence and authority. "I am Kenovan of the Merchant House, Rajl. I wish to speak to the house master." "I am Tanor, Chief Guardian of my master, Jalad." Sanok made the gesture that showed respect to Kenovan. "What is the nature of the matter you wish to discuss?" (reply Kenovan, any) (posted by Bob B.) -------------------------- (Asrai Prime - Celdebrai City - Travelers Hall - Kenovan Rajl - Day 11 - 0800) The door opened slowly has the man behind identified himself has the Chief Guardian to the house master a man that went by the name Jalad. The guardian who went by the name Tanor showed all the proper respect, with the nature of the business that Kenovan had come for and why he figured Jalad had come to Celdebrai city with his family thus armed it seemed to make sense that he would first have to pass Jalad's gaurds before he was able to speak to the house master. "My business is for Lord Jalad's ears alone it is of a sensitive nature, but it will pay well I insure you." Kenovan spoke with confidant that he would gain admittance. "If permitted an audience I will enter alone and unarmed my guards will remain outside. Like I said this is of sensitive nature." (reply Sanok) Kenovan waited had the Tanor closed the door and vanished from his sight most likely to confer with his this Jalad. From what informants house Rajl kept with in the market had told Kenovan the he was a fair man. With a level head about him, but some of his mannerisms were just a bit off. Kenovan knew that some of the most important business deals you had to wait for 'Be patient and wait for the opportune moment to strike.' Those words of his father echoed in his mind. Kenovan over the years had tempered that patience into a fine edged weapon but did not make the act of waiting any more bearable. "What if this Jalad does not listen to your offer m'lord." one of the guards spoke softly has to not be head beyond the door. "There is always more than one way to make a person see reason." Kenovan replied just has softly, "But I hope it will not come to such measures." (reply Sanok, Salid, any one who wants to get involved.) (posted by Matthew Locke) -------------------------- (Asrai Prime - Celdebrai City - Travelers Hall - Lt. Sanok - Day 11 - 0803) "My business is for Lord Jalad's ears alone. It is of a sensitive nature, but it will pay well, I insure you." said Kenovan. Sanok noticed that this man was very sure of himself. He didn't need to do any Asrai gestures to show his confidence. His bearing exuded it. Clearly, he was a man of note in the city. "If permitted an audience, I will enter alone and unarmed. My guards will remain outside. Like I said, this is of sensitive nature." Sanok wasn't sure what he was supposed to do next, but logic dictated that he have Kenovan wait outside, while Sanok inform Captain Salid of the unexpected visit. Hopefully, that was how things were done here, as well. "I will inform my master," said Sanok. He gave the gesture of respect and closed the door, sliding the locking bolt in place. Pausing to consider this event, Sanok saw Ben. "Remind me to have a few words with the worm behind the desk downstairs. Jalad gave instructions and compensation so we wouldn't be disturbed and then gives our room number to the first local who comes calling." "Indeed," said Sanok. "We may have a problem. The man outside wishes to see Jalad. He is an important man here in the city, so it is may be unwise to refuse to see him." Sanok went to the door that connected his room, to the room the captain and his 'family' were using. He began knocking until someone inside responded. (reply whoever opens the door, any iyw) (posted by Bob B.) -------------------------- (Asrai Prime - Celdebrai City - Travelers Hall - YEO Lt. Mike Rosenbauer - 0804) Despite the fact that he had been up a good portion of the night going over the scans and the data that he and Soma had collected from the day before, mike's awareness of his surroundings was such that at the first knock at the door, the Ranger found himself awake and primed for action. He rose from his pallet on the floor of the 'servants' room, glad that he hadn't been too comfortable during his rest for fear that he would have slept more deeply than he would have liked. The second knock at the door was more forceful than the first and for a moment mike was wondering whether or not the local police force had decided that they were simply too suspicious and therefore people worthy of arrest if not at the least questioning. He grabbed his sword, after pulling his shirt on over his head and stepped out into the room where Sanok and Soma were located. Soma joined him at the door to the third room. "If you're not in a rush I think we'd best stay close for a while." He said indicating the door. "Seems we have some company." Mike nodded, "Any idea who?" he asked, but the answer became readily apparent when Ben stepped back out into the main room, leaving the question unanswered. MIke followed him into the smaller apartment and moved over to the window. He pulled back the shade slightly, and was a little disoriented at the intensity of the sunlight entering the room from the small gap that he had made between the curtain and the wall, until he remembered that there were two suns outside. He visually scanned the street below looking for any indication of a force ready to prevent their escape out the window. Seeing nothing abnormal, he stepped back over to Soma. "No one waiting for us outside. The apartment's windows are not being watched as far as I can tell, so if we need to, we'll have a clear drop to the market below." (reply Soma) Daniel Greene -------------------------- (Asrai Prime - Celdebrai City - Travelers Hall - CTAC Lt. sg Ben Soma - 0805) "No one waiting for us outside. The apartment's windows are not being watched as far as I can tell, so if we need to, we'll have a clear drop to the market below." Mike reported. Ben stepped over to the window and gazed outside taking in the immediate vicinity, the street was relatively clear with only a few passers by. As Mike stated it didn't appear as if anyone was watching the rooms they were in, there was no one watching from adjacent buildings or from any of the roof tops he could see so this didn't appear to be a trap for them. He looked into the street below and noticed an unattended hay wagon. "If we had to we could get out on the ledge and jump for that hay wagon." Ben stated. "It would break our fall a lot better than those cobble stones on the street." Just then the Captain came out of the adjoining room and asked who their visitors were. "He is a member of the merchant class. He is very well dressed, confident, authoritative, and seems that whatever it is that he wishes to propose, he will get it," said Sanok. "Okay." Ahmed stated with a nod. "I have a suspicion that he's going to try to strong arm us if he doesn't get whatever he wants. The only thing I can think of would be some sort of trade alliance, and as we can't do that, I'll have to reject him. So be on your toes and watch for trouble." "Yes, sir," said Sanok. Ben nodded. "I'll be watching his every move." After the night he had he almost hoped this visitor would try something so he could take out his frustration on him, almost. The room was then cleared and the Captain gave the go ahead for the guest to be let in, Sanok searched him for weapons and then allowed him to enter. Once he was inside Sanok introduced him. "Master, I present Merchant Kenovan of House Rajl." Ben moved to stand guard at the door should his companions attempt to gain entry, he placed one hand on the end of his sword and gave the new arrival a once over. He appeared to be above average build, not over burdened with muscle but it looked as if he could handle himself in a fight. Kenovan did carry himself with an air of authority and appeared quite confident in himself. Ben wondered what this was all about, they had hardly been in the city long enough to be noticed by anyone so soon and their interactions with the locals had been limited. "I am Jalad. To what do I owe the pleasure of your visit here today?" Salid said as he made the gesture of respect. Ben remained where he was keeping an eye on Kenovan and his ears trained on the door. (Reply Ahmed) (Posted by Marilyn) -------------------------- (Asrai Prime - Celdebrai City - Travelers Hall - CO, Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid - Day 11 - 0809) Ahmed had been up for the majority of the night looking over the latest data that they had collected the night before. It was frustrating to see so many potential indicators, but be unable to get any sort of confirmation. The strange lighting of the city at night, the power signature in the monolith, and the sacred light at the temple all seemed to indicate that the Asrai had possession of some mildly advanced technology, at least as related to their general technological state. The real question was whether that level of technology was sufficiently advanced enough to place them firmly within the technological development state of warp drive or some similar sort of FTL travel propulsion. Without that, there would be nothing that Ahmed and his crew could do legally to intervene on the behalf of these people. They desperately needed a smoking gun. Something that could be definitive enough to justify their intervention into the situation. He had been sleeping restlessly as a result of this worry. Normally he wouldn't have been so affected by the situation, but there was something very wrong with this place that seemed to put his mind on edge. Through the haze of his unpleasant slumber, the sound of a loud knock sounded in the distance, followed by some muffled conversation in the local dialect. So when Jennifer gently shook him, he was awake almost instantly. His almost lucid dream state quickly transformed itself into supernatural awareness. "We have a visitor. Sanok thinks that he is a prominent merchant from the city. What he wants we have no idea but he wishes to speak to you." She informed him. "That's a bit unexpected. I wasn't expecting any sort of scrutiny this early upon our arrival. I guess I should get dressed to play the part." He looked over at his clothes and added, " remind me to pick up another outfit of clothing, It will draw attention if I keep wearing the same thing for the duration of our stay here." "Once you are ready I'll slip into the other room and let Sanok announce him. I'll go get the Warden to send up something hot for both of you and I will return in about half an hour or so, so that if you need me I'll be around." "Okay, take Soma with you and while you're down there, see what you can find out about our visitor from Darsel, including why he obviously didn't feel inclined to honor our arrangement to remain undisturbed. Maybe we can find something out about our visitor through second hand means." (reply Caskie) He quickly climbed into the rest of his clothes, never fully disrobing in the first place, and once he was satisfied that he once again looked the part, he went and opened the door separating his chamber from those of his security team. He stepped out into the compartment and gave a look around. "What do we know about our visitor?" He asked to no one specific. (reply any present) "Okay." Ahmed stated with a nod. "I have a suspicion that he's going to try to strong arm us if he doesn't get whatever he wants. The only thing I can think of would be some sort of trade alliance, and as we can't do that, I'll have to reject him. So be on your toes and watch for trouble." (reply Soma, Sanok) Ahmed brought one of the nicer chairs from the corner and took a seat in it, facing the door. He had Rosenbauer remove all the other chairs from the room, so that they guest would not be inclined to stay, and also to give the illusion that Ahmed was confident and in complete control of the meeting. "Once those preparations were complete, Ahmed took a deep breath and gave Sanok a nod. He spoke as he did so, "Show in our guest, but search him for weapons. I don't want any surprises." (reply Sanok) Sanok opened the door and bid the Merchant to enter. Once Sanok had completed his search of the man and removed any potential weapons, Ahmed spoke. "I am Jalad, to what do I owe the pleasure of your visit here today?" He made the gesture of respect that he had practiced for several hours the night before. (reply Sanok, Soma, Kenovan Rajl, Caskie, Any) Daniel Greene ------------------------- (Asrai Prime - Celdebrai City - Traveler's Hall - ACEO Lt Eian O'Neill - Day 11 - 0811) Eian heard the commotion going on in the other rooms and he aroused the Counselor and doctor, alerting them to the fact that they were about to have company. Then he slipped on his tunic over his undershirt and grabbed his weapon, staying out of sight but in range of attack just in case. It made sense to have a 'guard' out of sight, but it doubly made sense for them not to show their whole hand when they were about to encounter a person they knew nothing about. He heard Ben talking about a possible escape and he looked back at the Counselor and doctor and said, "If we have to, we'll jump out that way. Get ready, just in case." It might have been his imagination, or perhaps it was Davis' lack of training for these situations, but he thought the Counselor looked slightly nervous. He also noticed Davis move closer to Fraiser, as if to protect her. ~Interesting,~ he thought. (reply any) (posted by Morgan G) -------------------------- (Asrai Prime - Celdebrai City - Travelers Hall - Lt. Sanok - Day 11 - 0812) After Sanok knocked on the door to the main room, Doctor Caskie was the one to open it. "Doctor, we have a visitor at our door. His name is Kenovan, and he is a prominent local merchant. He would not give me specifics, but he desires to see the captain... Master Jalad. What shall I tell him?" "I'll wake him," said Caskie. "Ask our guest if he would be so good as to wait whilst your master dresses, since he does not wish to cause any offense to our honored guest, and tell him that your master will admit him shortly." Sanok nodded in acknowledgment. Caskie closed the door and Sanok went to see Kenovan. Before getting there, he told the others in the room to be alert. "Merchant Kenovan of House Rajl." Sanok gave the gesture of respect. "Master Jalad is most honored by your visit. He is preparing to see you now and asks your patience for but a few bits of an hour. I will return to announce you." After Kenovan responded, Sanok closed the door and slid the locking bolt in place. Not long after that, Salid entered their room. "What do we know about our visitor?" he asked. "He is a member of the merchant class. He is very well dressed, confident, authoritative, and seems that whatever it is that he wishes to propose, he will get it," said Sanok. "Okay," said Salid. "I have a suspicion that he's going to try to strong arm us if he doesn't get whatever he wants. The only thing I can think of, would be some sort of trade alliance, and as we can't do that, I'll have to reject him. So be on your toes and watch for trouble." "Yes, sir," said Sanok. He knew the others would be ready. Salid cleared the room of everything but a nice chair from his room, sat in it facing the door, and gave orders regarding Kenovan's entrance. It was time to see what this man had to say. Sanok opened the door, but this time, he did not perform the gesture of respect. As he had noticed from studying merchants in town yesterday, there was often a change in initiative or dominance in a negotiation. This time, Sanok performed the gesture indicating that this was his master's territory and respect was required before being allowed admittance. Once he was satisfied that Kenovan performed those requirements, he made sure the man was unarmed and allowed him into the room. The two bodyguards remained in the hall. Sanok bowed to Salid. "Master, I present Merchant Kenovan of House Rajl." "I am Jalad. To what do I owe the pleasure of your visit here today?" He made the gesture of respect. Despite the possible trouble that could come their way if they did not do everything properly according to Asrai culture, Sanok was curious about what Kenovan wanted. He was also beginning to 'get into' the role he was playing. Whatever was coming next, they had definitely made an impression here. (reply any and all in room) (posted by Bob B.) ------------------------- (Asrai Prime - Celdebrai City - Travelers Hall - Lt. Sanok - Day 11 - 0817) "I am Jalad. To what do I owe the pleasure of your visit here today?" said Salid. Kenovan proceeded to ramble on for a bit about how important he was in the city, and that his status was high. He also said something Sanok had considered that could cause them problems in the coming days. Eventually, their stricken caravan would need to arrive. Sanok supposed Kenovan's overture was typical, as alpha males all over the galaxy needed to establish their dominance. His posture and gestures demonstrated this, but his movements around the room were a concern. Sanok looked at the others there and they saw it as well. It was extremely unlikely Kenovan would try anything, but if he did, he would be on his face, on the floor, quicker than he realized. Eventually, the merchant got to why he was there. Apparently, he had seen Signos in the city and desired to marry her, offering Salid to meet any dowry demanded. The silence in the room was so heavy, it felt like something living pressing upon the occupants. If the situation wasn't so serious, the expression on Salid's face would have been humorous. Portraying the role of the father and master of the family, it was certainly Salid's right to refuse, which of course, he would. However, in the Asrai culture, what would the consequences be? Kenovan was clearly a man accustomed to getting what he wanted. Could it be dangerous to stand in his way? Things just got more complicated. (reply any) (posted by Bob B.) ------------------------- (Asrai Prime - Celdebrai City - Travelers Hall - CTAC Lt. sg Ben Soma - 0819) Ben listened as Kenovan rambled on for a few minutes before getting to the point of his visit, all the while Ben watched his every move for any sign that he might have an ulterior motive. He carried himself with confidence and it was apparent he was accomplished. Then he dropped the bombshell, he wanted to marry Signos and was willing to meet any price the Captain saw fit. Things were about to get quite interesting and very complicated, how would the Captain handle the situation and what were the consequences of refusing? Unfortunately he wouldn't find out first hand because Doctor Caskie came up to him and quietly requested he follow her down stairs, time to settle things with Darsel. He nodded to Mike to take his place before following Doctor Caskie out of the room. When they passed Kenovan's entourage Ben gave them a quick once over, both men were of above average build clearly they too were guards of some sort. He wasn't sure of their level of training but he doubted they would last long against Sanok, Mike, Eian, Signos or any of the others in the room. They descended the stairs to the lower level, when they reached the main area of the hall Ben set his eyes on Darsel who seemed to squirm just a little under the scrutiny. When they reached the desk Ben stepped up never taking his eyes of the halls master. "Mr. Darsel." He said. "Were you not compensated for seeing to it we were not disturbed." (reply Darsel) "Yet you allowed Kenovan to knock at our door this very morn." Ben continued. (reply Darsel) "How fortunate for you my master is a kind and generous man who is willing to over look this breach in his trust, provided there are no further misunderstandings." Ben said. "You may find it difficult conducting future business without the benefit of one or both of your hands." (reply Darsel) "Now that we have your attention m'lady wishes to speak with you." Ben stated stepping back and placing his left hand on the hilt of his sword, Darsel noticed and Ben was sure he saw the man shiver slightly. He had discovered a fortune in relics in the mysterious chamber deep within the holy mountain of Shayloom. HIs bag was stuffed with as much of the treasure as he could carry. There were crystals, said to hold volumes of books within them, and some other odds and ends that he had managed to pry loose from some of the larger machines. He had found some powerful guide-stones, although they were shaped in the form of a ring, doubtlessly carved in that shape by the Aowa themselves. There were lights, glowing rods, crystals, and guide-stones. He had also found a strange sealed box, which despite his inability to open it, seemed as if it might contain some ancient treasure the likes of which his world had never seen. All he would have to do is escape the mountain and then go to sell his wares to the Scholars of the Reliquary, as he had done in the past. Some of these items, would fetch him enough coin to retire upon. Many of them together would make him a wealthy man. The heavy sack finally cleared the top of the cliff and Mayrud lowered it down onto the ground beside him. He was exhausted, carrying all of this treasure out of the sacred cave below him, but he would have it no other way. He rose to his feet, still breathing heavily from the exertion of his work. He bent over and lifted the sack from the ground, positioning it upon his back so that it would be an easier weight to bear. He slowly wove his way past the outcroppings of rock that lined the rugged tunnel that led out of the mountain. His efforts were soon rewarded by the sweet smell of fresh air, and the brilliant doorway of light that revealed the pale blue sky. Still smiling, he made his way near the opening, and cautiously moved to a position where he could see the declining path that led away from the mountain clearly. The thwill trees shimmered slightly as their multicolored leaves reflected the light of the twin suns, and the soft rustle of the wind moved along the pathway as well, as if welcoming him out into the sun-fed world. He took a tentative step, not seeing any of the Bane about and allowed the suns to bathe him in their radiance. It was a refreshing thing to return to the world of the living so long after being underground in the depths of the world. Refreshed, at least in spirit, he started off down the pathway, ever cautious and alert for the appearance of the Bane. he could never have known that he had already been seen by a Bane patrol, and that they were even at that very moment making their way down the rugged side of the mountain to intercept him. (Reply Jackson) “I want you to go on an away team to the rogue planet. It will help you get back into the swing of things, besides there are some new findings. We’ve gotten some new sensor readings.” She said. (Reply Jackson) “The readings include a large underground complex, lined with processed alloys. It is an indication that the planet was an attempt at terraforming.” T’Larah explained. (Reply Jackson) “You will need to be at transporter room 1 at 1600 hours. Lieutenant Xim will be in charge of the away team, consider yourself second in command of the away team, do your best to help him out.” She said. (Reply Jackson) “Don’t worry about that. Should Dahlia go into labor we should be able to beam you back for the delivery. Part of your equipment load will be two sets of pattern enhancers. That should allow you to beam back with short notice.” She assured him. (Reply Jackson) “Take your time reviewing the sensor logs, it may give you an edge when you beam down with the rest of the team. You have access to them all. They should be uploaded into your console for your review.” She said. (Reply Jackson) (Posted by Todd) ------------------------- (Uss Rosenante Dahlia Jackson Sick Bay Day 11 1145) Dahlia had headed to Sick Bay after Tom left for his first duty shift back on the Rosenante. She had agreed to come to sick bay afte Tom had insisted. The Boudicca medical staff had sent her records on head of them as well as given her a copy. She missed Lizzy and Mia. She looked around and called out "Hello?". (Reply : Medical Staff) (Posted by: Bill W.) -------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Sickbay- Marah Neru- 1147) Marah was going over some of her previous scans and comparing the results to the records on file, she was enjoying her time in sickbay especially since Ben was away. She had volunteered for a couple extra shifts to help fill her day, she was learning a lot and really enjoying it. She was glad that the Captain had allowed her to help out, at least now she felt she was contributing something rather then free loading. The time passed quickly and before she knew it her day was over. She heard the doors open behind her and someone stepped in from here she couldn't see who it was. "Hello?" A female voice called out. Marah got out of her seat and stepped into the main area to see who it was, when she rounded the corner she got a little surprise. The woman standing there was pregnant, she wasn't aware of any pregnant women on board but then she remembered hearing something about a transfer. This had to be Dahlia Jackson. "Hello." She said with a smile. "You must be Dahlia Jackson, I'm Marah Neru. Please have a seat on one of the biobeds and the Doctor will be right with you." Marah walked her over to one of the beds and helped her have a seat. The woman was glowing, clearing she was looking forward to the new arrival. Marah would prey to the prophets after she returned to her quarters and asked for them to bless the child. She couldn't help but wonder what Ben would think about having a child, would he be opposed to the idea? Marah picked up a medical tricorder and opened it and removed the mobile scanner, activating the unit she slowly moved the device over Dahlia from her head to her stomach. She passed the unit across her stomach a couple times and looked at the results. She gave Dahlia a smile. "Getting close to that time." She said. (reply Dahlia, any) (posted by Milo Young) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Sickbay - MO - Lt (sg) Katherine (Kitty) Fisher - Day 11 – 1149) With Lt Dralar back on his home world at present Kitty, as the junior doctor, had been bumped to covering the Gamma shift. To be honest she actually didn't mind it since she was a night hawk anyway and since Josh was gone with the away party Kitty had very little in the way of social life anyway unless you counted talking Lulu for a walk and wrestling with Bruiser every time he wanted to sit in her lap. So when she was told that she was needed in main sickbay Kitty quite happily made her way to the main room. Sickbay was quiet at that time of night so spotting Marah standing beside a biobed Kitty realised that this was why she had been called and made her way over there. Her slight smile changed to a broad grin when she saw who the patient was. "Well, well, well, Mama Jackson. I thought you and Tom had abandoned us?" (Reply Dahlia iyw) "How are you feeling?" (Reply Dahlia) Turning to Marah she raised an eyebrow, something she'd learned from Josh and held her hand out for the tricorder. (Reply Marah iyw) Reading the results she smiled at Dahlia. "Well it looks like all three of you are doing fine and to be honest I don't think it will be long now." (Reply Dahlia iyw) "I don't foresee any major problems except for the normal ones of feeling like a beached whale, being unable to sleep much, having your ankles swell to at least twice their normal size and lugging around quite a good bit more weight than you are used to. All par for the course I'm afraid. However, since you are getting pretty close to your time I would suggest that it might be wise for you to wear a monitor from now on. That way we will know almost as soon as you do when you go into labour and we will be ready and waiting for you." (Reply Dahlia) Turning to Marah Kitty began giving her orders. "Please get me a foetal monitor from the equipment bay please. Top shelf, left hand side." (Reply Marah) Once Marah returned Kitty keyed the monitor to the padd she was holding and placed the monitor on one side of Dahlia's stomach. "There we go. Now unless you have any questions Mrs Jackson you're free to go." (Reply Dahlia) As Kitty watched Dahlia leave sickbay she turned to Marah. "Whilst I'm not especially worried, twins can be tricky sometimes. It might be an idea to get everything ready now." (Reply Marah) (Posted by Marilyn) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Transporter Room 1 – Science Department – Crewman Andrew Maddox – 1550) Commander Sullivan had told Andrew to report to the transporter room for an away mission. Truthfully only a direct order would have been able to keep him away. He was really excited with the readings that were coming in from the planet below. All the findings were pointing to sentient involvement. Refined alloyed ores lining subterranean regularly shaped structures. Trace readings of ductile superconductive conduits linking different structures. Was this an attempt at terraforming gone wrong? Lt Xim was put in-charge of the away team, and given the task of investigating the caverns and determining if possible any origins or intents of the planet. Andrew stepped through the retracting doors of the Transporter Room ready for an away mission. “Crewman Maddox reporting for away mission, sir.” He said to the Lieutenant. (Reply Xim, any) (Posted by Todd) -------------------- (USS Rosenante - Transporter Room 1 - GSL- Lt. Xim - Day 11- 1600) Xim had assembled a survey team in the transporter room, for the sole purpose of exploring a series of hollow spaces that appeared to be some sort of underground control center deep under the crust of the rogue planet's surface. Among those assembled was Lieutenant Jackson, who recently returned from a short assignment to the Boudicca, seemed ready to get back into the thick of things. Also present was Crewman Maddox, whose scientific expertise would prove to be useful on any sort of exploration. As the majority of the senior staff were away on an information gathering mission to Asrai Prime and Commander Sullivan was needed to remain aboard the Rosenante, that left Xim to command the away team, although he suspected that as the former second officer of the rosenante, Tom was more than qualified. The remainder of the team was filled out with engineers, scientists and security personnel, Fuller was assigned as a cursory medical tech, should there be any unexpected injuries. Xim looked at the assembled group and did his best imitation of a human smile. It probably looked more like a scowl, but he was working on it. "We have been tasked with the exploration of a series of geometrically shaped chambers that appear to be some sort of command and control center for the various machines that we have so far seen on this planet. As we are uncertain whether there will be any living creatures here, or if there will be any sort of automated security systems, I can not stress enough the need for caution." "Our goal is simple, locate any sort of centralized data storage system, presuming we recognize it when we see it, and gain access to the data that it stores. The purpose of this data collection is two fold. First to determine if possible the origins of this planet and how it came to be here and on its current path. The second is to advance the federation's knowledge of Terraforming techniques, which could open up countless new worlds for colonization." "Lieutenant Jackson, As the second most senior officer present, I would like for you to focus on the identification and functionality of any computer systems that we may find. I will attempt, with my team to begin scans in the hopes of determining some of the engineering aspects of whatever we may find. At all costs, remain wary and vigilant to the possibility of danger. We do not know what state the area we are entering into will be like, nor do we know what dangers or hazards may be present." Xim looked around the compartment. "Are there any questions?" (reply Jackson, Maddox, Fuller) Daniel Greene ------------------------- (USS Rosenante LT. Tom Jackson COPS Transporter Room 1 Day 11 1605) Lieutenant Yalix began his briefing. "We have been tasked with the exploration of a series of geometrically shaped chambers that appear to be some sort of command and control center for the various machines that we have so far seen on this planet. As we are uncertain whether there will be any living creatures here, or if there will be any sort of automated security systems, I can not stress enough the need for caution". Xim paused looking at his team and continued. "We are to locate any sort of centralized data storage system, presuming we recognize it when we see it, and gain access to the data that it stores. The purpose of this data collection is two fold. First to determine if possible the origins of this planet and how it came to be here and on its current path. The second is to advance the federation's knowledge of Terraforming." Xim went on to specifically task Tom with cracking any computer systems and security protocols. Jackson was also tasked to down load any salvagable data. Tom thought for a moment and replied "We'll do our best Lieutenant ". (Reply: Yalix) (Posted By: Bill W.) ------------------------- (Rogue Planet – Landing Site Alpha – Science Department – Crewman Andrew Maddox – 1635) Andrew and the rest of the away team re-materialized at one of the original away team landing sites, site Alpha. It was still very much as they left it. A seemingly volcanic geyser in the middle of several nutrient-rich pools of goo, teaming with life-forms. Ranging from the tiniest of single cell protozoans to the multi-system insect like predators feeding off the smaller creatures. Andrew had catalogued all that was sent up viewed each one personally. His positronic brain committed them to memory, and there were a few new ones that hadn’t been here before, and a few had noticeably changed. Andrew immediately took out his tricorder and began scanning one of the new species as it swooped down, and captured a smaller fast moving ground creature, trapping it with six spindly legs like a miniature cage. The victim attempted to escape the carapace-gilded jail, but was held fast in it’s iron grip. The predator stabbed it’s prey with a saber-like probiscus, killing it deliberately and decisively. The mosquito-like killer then scooped up it’s still twitching prize as it’s legs now became a carrying basket and flew away to consume it’s meal at leasure. (Reply Lt. Xim) “Moving, sir.” Andrew said as the Lieutenant broke his concentration. Lt Xim then layed out his plan for entrance into the underground structures. Easy enough, they still couldn’t beam down through that much solid rock, however a pattern had become noticed on further study of the plumes. The venting and lightening cascade ceased for 30 minute intervals once every twelve hours. One was about to happen, and when it did they could simply decend into the vent and cut through the wall at the bottom and be inside something similar to the Jefferies tubes on the Rose. Plan seemed simple enough, however there were draw backs. Xim yielded the floor to the medical representative of the team, Master Chief Fuller, who went on to explain the breathing apparatus that he brought for every team member. (Reply Fuller, Xim, Jackson) (posted by Todd) ------------------------- (Asrai Prime, Celdebrai City- Darkom Dungeons, Freelancer Mayrud, Day 11 -1700) The first thing that Mayrud became aware of as he awoke was the throbbing in his head. His body ached in places that he had forgotten that he had, mostly from the beating that the Bane had provided him as a courtesy when he had refused to surrender his sacred treasures to them. They had at least been reasonable enough to not kill him outright, which would have been something entirely within their rights, since they had actually caught him as he exited the Holy mountain, a violation of one of the highest laws of the land. Instead they had beaten him into near unconsciousness and half-carried/half-dragged him to the court of Offenses, where he had been pronounced a heretic and been then thrown into the dungeons. Sometime after he had been tossed into the cells here, he had blacked out. He rose from the cold, damp stone floor with some effort. The pounding in his head seemed to keep time with the beating of his twin hearts, and that in turn worried him almost more than the pain itself. The cell was much too large for a single person, and the prisoner staggered a little as his head tried to regain some semblance of balance, which the beating had stolen from him. He staggered over to one of the corners, and after squeezing his eyes closed for several seconds to clear his thoughts, he finally decided to take a good look around. The walls and floors of the building were made of solid stone, large blocks fitted together well enough to prevent even water from seeping between them. The pain curtain was shimmering across the doorway, a light blue-green sheet of Aowa magics that were designed to punish those persons who came into contact with it. He could see through it, and so he moved a little closer to the opening, careful to stop short of the curtain when the hairs on his arms began to rise in warning. He could see a short distance down the corridor that ran along the front of his cell, it was smooth, and lit by an occasional biolight, similar to those that he had found deep within the various ruin sites hat he had explored. The cell across from him was empty, and so Mayrud saw no signs of other prisoners or Bane. He considered calling out for a few moments, but the thought of angering any unseen Bane and thus prompting them to deliver another beating prevented his doing so. He knew that his time was limited and so, he set his mind to considering his options. They were so few that after only a few moments, he lost all hope and then he couldn't help but feel the sudden oppression of a man who knew when the hour of his death would arrive. He had been sentenced to be executed in two cycles time, on the Holy day of the Ascension of the Twin Glories. His execution would be public, an example to the masses that gathered to watch or attend the holy festivities. He'd been robbed of his riches, and now he was to be robbed of his life. If he had only managed to escape from the Banes, he would have been rich beyond his wildest desires. But now he had nothing, was nothing. He was destined to die a slow and painful death on the disruptor. (reply none) Daniel Greene ========================= Compiled by Jackie =========================
