"Oh, good morning, Mister Raschen." she said. Soon after all the officers filed in the room, T'Larah started the briefing using the reverse pyramid format. She kept all the basic pertinent facts with in the first few sentences, and filled in more details as she went. The science briefing was short. Then Chance started his Tactical brief. “Well ma’am; after reviewing the logs from the Chaplain, it is my professional opinion that a vessel like the Bohrs had absolutely no business being there.” Raschen started. T'Larah almost smiled, almost. ~I knew he'd find something.~ "Why don't you elaborate, Mister Raschen?" she sensed his lead up. Chance called up a pair of holo-images of 2 different Irlixian warships to be displayed over the table, one from the Chaplain logs and the other from the Bohrs’. Pointing at each image in turn, he explained “These images were captured several years apart; the first is from the Chaplain during our Civil War, and the second from the Bohrs three days ago. “Judging from the way the basic ship’s structure is laid out; it lends itself to the idea that the Irlixiana view travels through space much like over the sea. At a glance each ship roughly resembles a 100 to 200 meter long, triple hull Catamaran; with the Warp Nacelle(s) running down the length of the ship taking the place of the center hull. “Also from the logs I was able to ascertain that the weapons on the Irlixian vessels are not placed like most modern warships, but more like tall-ships where the cannons were placed down the length of the ship, hence the term ‘broadside’. “The outer two hulls house the phaser emitters. The smaller one fired 7 phasers off one broadside. Taking into account the symmetry of the vessel; I concluded that this is a 16 ‘gun’ ship, were the larger one is closer to 24. The 2 outer hulls also provide additional protection to the warp-drive. “On the bow of the ship appears to be a 21st Century Rail-Gun.” "Some officers may be un familiar, with the rail gun, why don't you explain that?" She said. “The Rail-Gun was supposedly capable of launching a projectile up to 300 kilometers with pinpoint accuracy along the Earth’s surface. In space, at least in theory, it could work.” “However, despite being compact with relatively weak offensive weapons, these ships are fast, maneuverable, and very well shielded. These things could have destroyed the Bohrs by ramming her and it would have felt like a speed bump.” "Also Mister Raschen, remember, it looks like, 'just a rail gun', however, we have no idea of her payload. It could be as simple as a duranium / tritanium 'bullet', or a chemical or other conventional explosive. Keep in mind that with the technology to create our style warp drive which uses matter/antimatter annihilation, they have the capability of creating photon torpedoes. We only use a few to a dozen grams, what happens if they use a kilo or three? Everyone needs to keep in mind that things may not be as they seem." she finished. “Militarily; it appears that one government is beginning to adopt the ‘There’s no Defense like a good Offense’ philosophy. Beyond that I can only speculate, but I know what my gut tells me. Upgrade the phasers and replace the Rail-Gun with torpedo launchers and those ships would make damn good attack craft. Any questions” Chance appeared to agree with her completely. (Reply any) (Posted by Todd) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Observation Lounge – CO- Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid - Day 6- 1005) Ahmed had sat quietly listening to the detailed reports that were being offered up from his various department heads. While the reports were as detailed as they could be, the terrible truth of the matter was that the information used to put together those reports had proven to be less than complete. Some of the data presented was conjecture, some based from inference or supposition based on experience, but at least it was better than going into a situation completely blind. Of course, there was another aspect of the situation that bothered him, and that was how easily the Irlixians had managed to disable the Bohr's computers. How had they known that the ship was even there in the first place? had the cloaking device failed without notifying the system, or had the Irlixians developed some means by which they could detect the small ship despite the operation of the cloaking device? When it was apparent that the meeting had finally wound down and Sullivan had returned the control of the briefing back to the captain, Ahmed decided that it was best to start preparing for the bulk of the mission. He took a deep breath before he began, letting it out slowly as he collected his thoughts. "Okay, regardless of our opinions concerning the Bohrs' mission, they were assigned here and they ran into trouble. That means we need to stay focused and keep our wits about us as we move forward with our mission." "It stands to reason that if the ships developed by the Irlixians are still loosely configured from a design that seems to have been adapted from water going vessel, that the Irlixian commanders may not have adequately grasped the concepts of fighting in three dimensional space. tactically speaking it would seem to be borne out by their designs and that design would limit their tactical options. That will be something that we will need to keep in mind going forward." Ahmed stated, as he organized his thoughts. "We will approach the planet from the northern polar orbit. We'll use a very exaggerated hyperbolic arc to put s where we need to be. That should assist us in avoiding detection by the Irlixians." "We should at this point assume that they have developed or stumbled upon a means to detect our cloaking systems. We should also assume that if they have acquired warp technology from somewhere that there is a strong change that they also have acquired or developed subspace communications. That means we'll need to minimize all such communications during the mission. That will be reserved for emergency only." "The basic plan will be for us to move into a polar orbit of the planet and transport down a landing party to conduct investigations into the whereabouts of the Bohrs' crew. The away team will be aided through the use of cosmetic surgery to allow us to blend into the local populace." "The away team will have at two primary objectives. The first being the location and rescue of the missing crew. The second would be the recovery and/or destruction of the captured ship." "A less important objective would be to collect additional data on the original source of the technology which could have been responsible for the sudden technological advance that the Irlixians are experiencing." "Commander Sullivan will lead the away team. The rest of the team will consist of Jackson, Raschen, Rixx, Matrix, Smith, Remey, Ichijo, Lopez, and Rosenbauer. Since we could have two operations ongoing at the same time, I feel it is important to start with a larger than normal away team. I will leave it to Commander Sullivan to decide upon her second in command for the mission." "Once the away team has reached the surface, The Rosenante will fall back away from the planet in order to make certain that we are not unexpectedly detected by the Irlixians." "We will be dropping from the Spiral drive at 2200 hours tonight. between now and then, I'll need to know where we should begin looking. We know that there are indications that this was handled by the Rhone Union. Mister Remey, You'll need to find us a starting point. I'll also depend upon you to determine a suitable wardrobe and cover stories for the members of the away team. Additionally, your inclusion of the team should help us fill in several gaps in our information." (reply Remey) "Doctors Ichijo and Lopez will be responsible to have everyone's appearance altered for the away mission, including their own. They will also be providing medical support while you are on the planet, should you require it." (reply Lopez, Ichijo) "Misters Raschen and Rosenbauer will be assisting with any tactical concerns that may come up." (reply Raschen) "Misters Smith and Jackson, will be handling computer security and information gathering as they can, and assisting in anything that needs to be done. They are both good with computers and these seem to be less advanced than our own, so their expertise should prove helpful." (reply Smith, Jackson) "Misters Rixx and Matrix will be responsible for aiding in the study of Irlixian technology as well as handling work that may come along with either the recovery or the destruction of the Bohrs. If it is necessary to destroy the Bohrs, it should be handled as discreetly as possible. we can not have an antimatter reaction doing the work." (reply Rixx, Matrix) "Any Questions?" (reply Any Room for more) Once any questions had been addressed, Ahmed concluded the briefing. "We will be arriving in the Irlix system at a little past 2400 hours tonight. I want the away team ready to deploy no later than 1000 hours tomorrow. Commander Sullivan will provide you with the exact mission time. See to it that you are as ready as you can be. This mission is an important one. There are eight Starfleet officers who are counting on us to rescue them." He took a good look around the room, catching each eye turned his way. "You're dismissed." "Commander Sullivan I'd like a mission readiness report prior to your departure." (reply All) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Observation Lounge - COPS- Lieutenant Tom Jackson - Day 6- 1006) Tom, Robbie Smith and Phil sheridan listened intently to the briefs the other areas had given. There were some unknowns and unknown worried Tom a lot! Chance's report seemed to indicate that the spaceships of the Irilixians were base dloosely on pirate vessels tom remembered reading about when he was a wee lad. The captain also mentioned that they Irilixians may not have grasped the concept of fighting in three dimensions yet. This was a bit curious. Jackson further wanerd that if they had grabbed SF technology, maybe they have gotten information on SF tactics. ~!&*&*^~ Tom cursed mentally - more unknowns to grapple with. Ahmed indicated the type of orbital posture he wanted. He also added a very wide precaution to limit sub space communications. The logic there was if they've developed space flight - sub space communications might have bean added as well. Tom was about to ask about the ship's cloaking system when the Co, always one jumpa head of his crew said toa assume they might be detected even when cloaked. Away Team assignments were made. He and Robbie were added "Misters Smith and Jackson, will be handling computer security and information gathering as they can, and assisting in anything that needs to be done. They are both good with computers and these seem to be less advanced than our own, so their expertise should prove helpful." "We're on it skipper. We will also passively track and se eif there are any comm badge signatures we can detect" Tom replied. (reply: any) Tom raised his hand and asked " Sir, what are the specific rules of engagement. Several images of various Irlixians appeared on a display. "Due to the covert nature of the information gathering, we know less about the internal biology of an Irlixians then I am comfortable with, but a great deal of unsubstantiated evidence points omnivorous diet and similar sleep cycles." Kimiko switched the display to a close up of a male and female Irlixian. As one might notice, the Irlixians have a general body type similar to humans; however, as the you also might have noticed vestigial antlers and dappled skin pigmentation. Both of which are easily reproducible in sick bay, however I have noticed that they play a significant factor in interpersonal and societal relationships. Kimiko switch the player to a newsfeed, that seemed to show some kind of newscast "It appears that there is noticeable difference between the markings of each of the four countries, and while there are a number of transplants in each country, they are treated with government-sanctioned discrimination, somewhat on the level of say...on Earth, the southern United States in the 1950's or before the Corbianion Revolt on Denub IV. The screen shut off "While disguising ourselves as a 'lower' class would allow us to be less visible, it would present certain problems." He was prepared to give any information the CEO might request, or from the Captain for that matter, but his report wasn't directly requested. Matrix shifted in his chair as the progression of information was given to the Captain and command crew. "Misters Rixx and Matrix will be responsible for aiding in the study of Irlixian technology as well as handling work that may come along with either the recovery or the destruction of the Bohrs. If it is necessary to destroy the Bohrs, it should be handled as discreetly as possible. we can not have an antimatter reaction doing the work." Matrix already had some ideas about this and was wondering of antimatter weapons would be allowed and the Captain's request confirmed that question. "Aye Captain, we have compiled a new scanning regiment for this occasion that should provide us with a closure look at any technologies we come across." replied Matrix. (Reply Salid, any, none) (Posted by Steve) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Observation Lounge – ACSO- Louis Remey- Day 6- 1008) Louis listened with interest as Commander Sullivan went over tactical details with Mr. Raschen, he found her points to be highly illuminating. he hadn't thought about the state of their armament but then again he wasn't in tactical and as ACSO wasn't over the study of any weaponry the Irlixians might have. It was science as well of course but being handled by another technical group along with command and the tactical and security departments. Afterward the captain began encapsulating the findings and bringing the meeting to a close along with the orders they would follow. "Okay, regardless of our opinions concerning the Bohrs' mission, they were assigned here and they ran into trouble. That means we need to stay focused and keep our wits about us as we move forward with our mission." I will leave it to Commander Sullivan to decide upon her second in command for the mission." An away mission! As Louis had told the SFI representative this was the type of thing he had transferred to a ship for, no not under these circumstances but still he would get a good look at an alien civilization planetside. "Once the away team has reached the surface, The Rosenante will fall back away from the planet in order to make certain that we are not unexpectedly detected by the Irlixians." "We will be dropping from the Spiral drive at 2200 hours tonight. between now and then, I'll need to know where we should begin looking. I'll also depend upon you to determine a suitable wardrobe and cover stories for the members of the away team. Additionally, your inclusion of the team should help us fill in several gaps in our information." "Aye sir." Louis felt a smile beginning on his face, there would be clothing, personal items and papers along with the cover story. A perusal of Irlixian communications channels would no doubt catch him up on news from the planet and give him an idea on all the accouterments that would be needed. Not to mention speech dialects should they be needed and news as a backdrop of current affairs so they would know what they were heading into. All of it was simply and amazingly interesting as well as complex. Scans of the planet and communications then were of paramount importance for his part in this endeavor. He noted the captain giving orders to the medical group for their cosmetic touches followed by security concerns. Those were followed by instructions for those with computer skills and engineering studies. "We will be arriving in the Irlix system at a little past 2400 hours tonight. I want the away team ready to deploy no later than 1000 hours tomorrow. Commander Sullivan will provide you with the exact mission time. See to it that you are as ready as you can be. This mission is an important one. There are eight Starfleet officers who are counting on us to rescue them." After he dismissed the group Louis made his exit and went straight to science one where he would be boning up on what they needed. This was a big project, an important project. Possibly the biggest and most important he had ever been a part of, they would need to get their people back and keep the Irlixians from assimilating federation technology. There was a lot riding on this. (Reply: Any) (Posted by Charles) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Observation Lounge - aCEO Ensign Mitena Rixx - Day 6-1009) Mitena managed to arrive at the meeting just before it was scheduled to begin. Her intent had been to be a bit earlier and was annoyed with herself. Since she was already running late she took a seat next to Lieutenant Matrix instead of taking the time to retrieve something to snack on from the replicators. As expected, everyone was seated and ready when the meeting began promptly at its appointed time. As Lieutenant Raschen finished his portion, Commander Sullivan looked in the direction of herself and Matrix. "Engineering." "The long range scans taken from the Champlain and the data collected from the Bohrs buoy it seems there is a lot of federation style technology that has been integrated into their designs. If I was to postulate a guess on the technology source, I'd be very much inclined to say that it is highly comparable to the Akira class designs. " There wasn't much more to say. It was obvious that the rest of the technology wasn't inline with warp technology. Corresponding advances that would have existed simply didn't. The briefing moved on to medical as she started making notes of things to research once the meeting had concluded. Once everyone had put in their observations, the captain began detailing out what their operational plan was going to be. "Misters Rixx and Matrix will be responsible for aiding in the study of Irlixian technology as well as handling work that may come along with either the recovery or the destruction of the Bohrs. "Aye Captain, we have compiled a new scanning regimen for this occasion that should provide us with a closer look at any technologies we come across." Matrix offered. "Also, we can make modifications to the housing of the basic away team equipment so that they wouldn't be so noticeable to casual observation. It wouldn't be difficult to manufacture something for the commbadges, tricorders or even the phasers." Mitena said. We have no clear information on the Irlixians which means that we don't know how they think or how they may act to such a situation." "For all we know, they may have already murdered the crew of the Bohrs and may be disassembling the ship even now. I think it is an unbalanced risk to have you undertake such a mission. Besides, I have chosen the assembled away team because of the complimentary skills and abilities they each possess in an effort to maximize the chances for success. I do not need an officer hot dogging on a mission of this sort." "We will also not steal or destroy anything belonging to the Irlixians unless commander Sullivan deems it mission critical or it is specifically something that will guarantee the rest of the mission. I don't want unnecessary complications by killing or maiming any Irlixians. The use of deadly force is a last resort." "In this instance I think it prudent to maintain the mission parameters as I've already outlined them. There are times for extreme risks, I just do not feel that this is one of them." Ahmed turned to look at his first Officer. "Commander Sullivan, have you anything to add?" (reply Sullivan) Ahmed nodded. "I think it may be a good idea to add Ensign Sanok to the away team. He has some skills that could be useful. I believe that you served with him aboard the Dennison, Chance?" (reply Raschen) "Very well. I believe we are finished here. Carry on Lieutenant, Commander. You're both dismissed." (reply Raschen, Sullivan) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix, Transport Shuttlecraft, Sevrith Novas, Day 6, 1600) The 60-kilometer trip between the Capital and the Top Secret Seliya Facility took only a few minutes by Antigravity shuttle. The remainder of the lost time was in relaying orders, moving the prisoners and making absolutely certain that there were no spies watching the activity. When dealing with the only aliens ever captured alive by the government, it was important to maintain the strictest security possible. The prisoners had been restrained and loaded into the small cages at the back of the high security shuttle. Six armed guards from his unit, were watching them. Three military escort attack shuttles watched the transfer vessel. It was as secure as it could get. The trip northwest of the city had always been one of his favorites. He recognized many of the neighborhoods that had sprawled from the newly established Capital city of the Rhone Empire. In the days of his childhood, this entire area had been slums and gang-havens. the neighborhoods had been so bad that the police refused to enter the area without military support. Now, things were different. The crumbling facades and shanty town had been replaced by perfectly planned residences, small commercial shops and public services. Police and emergency services patrolled the area easily and without need of military back up. there were trees and schools and medial facilities and even a university. The long cold nights and contact struggle for survival from his childhood were long gone, thanks to Khoda Rhone. The images of the newly built portions of the city fell away beneath the hull of the shuttle and before long, they reached the outer approach marker for the Seliya Facility. "Transport Shuttle Craft Elite One to Control," the pilot intoned as they breached the marker, "we are on authorized approach for priority VIP delivery, transmitting security frequency codes now." There was silence from the radio. Seliya never responded. They simply either deactivated the force field or they didn't. It wouldn't be the first time that a shuttle craft had crashed because it had slammed into the shield because of incorrect security codes. Sevrith watched as the shuttle drew closer and closer to the shield marker. It wouldn't take too much longer before they knew if the code for the day were accurate or not. The Outer marker came and went, all without the shuttle disintegrating into a ball of white-hot plasma. The codes, it seemed, had been accurate after all. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix, Seliya Facility, MAXSEC Arrival Dock, Sevrith Novas, Day 6, 1615) Sevrith stepped from the open hatchway of the shuttlecraft out onto the massive secured hanger of the Seliya facility. Carved into the side of a massive mountain brimming with a rare material called Magnesite, the Seliya Facility was the largest and most secure Military facility ever built in the history of Irlix. Twenty-two separate levels, stacked on atop another were completely encased by the natural protection offered by the massive mountain. The largest level, the Hanger docks, were easily 3000 acres. They held the most prized possessions of the Rhone Union, the remains of the original alien starship that had crashed on this world. It was massive by any standard. A vessel so profoundly advanced that it's secrets had permeated a significant change in the entire culture of the Irlix species. Power sources unlike anything even conceived of by her greatest scientists, weapons undreamed of by her military and social systems that revolutionized a nations ability to provide for their people. The massive vessel was far from complete. It was assembled in a sort of hob-knob fashion, attached by improvised beams that resembled the suspected framework of the ship. Entire sections of the vessel were missing, massive gaps in the otherwise lovely flow of her lines. She was a puzzle that always seemed half finished, although Sevrith knew that there were no more pieces to add. The missing gaps were vaporized by the explosion or the heat of re-entry. It was believed that the ship had suffered some sort of massive system failure which had caused it to fall from orbit. Plunging through the atmosphere, the ship's crew, it is expected managed to guide the vessel into a less than perfect landing. The ship crashed only 30 miles from this very spot, scattered over an area that was impossible to comprehend. Some of the pieces were massive, larger than a house or even a naval warship. Others had been small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. When the other powers of the world realized that an alien ship had crashed here, they had demanded the right to secure the wreckage militarily. Their demands had been denied and a war ensued. Pieces were collected, relocated and hidden, technologies studied and the progress was slow. Then One day from out of the blue, Khoda Rhone had appeared and had unlocked the mysteries of the alien technology as if he had been born for that one task. He had developed the phasers that had brought the enemies of the shattered nation to their knees. He had forced them to sue for peace. His replication technology revolutionized manufacturing and agriculture. Industry had flourished and entire cities had been repaired virtually over the course of months rather than years. The poor received housing, food and basic needs, and the prosperity of the Government and the nation had increased. Rhone was unanimously elected leader for life, and the nation and his new city named after him. He had been the savior of the world and soon he would be it's unifier. The alien ship rested deep inside the hanger, yet despite the distance, it's outline was visible, as was the single glowing parts that had been painstakingly reassembled back to working order. That ship was the basis for the three starships that the Rhone Union now used outside of their atmosphere. It had ushered in a new era. Much closer than the ship named Medea, was a much smaller vessel. This one sleek, smooth and intact. It was obviously built for a much different purpose, than the larger ship all those years ago. It was still large when compared to a ship like the shuttle craft. The USS Bohrs was already surrounded by technicians and engineers who were taking readings and learning all that they could about the first intact alien starship to be seen by any member of the Irlix species. As leader of the Elite guard, Sevrith Novas commanded also the entirety of the Seliya Facility. It was a post that he had earned through hard work and loyalty to the Supreme Commander. He had risen far from the gutters of his childhood and was now one of the most powerful members of the Union Government. His trust had been rewarded with mysteries. Relics taken from the alien starship, knowledge of things that no one else understood or knew. He understood much about the Federation, having made a study of it's database, or at least as much as he could access of those records. The only thing that burned brighter than his fervor was his desire for knowledge and the federation prisoners would offer him the unique ability to learn the answers to some very curious mysteries. One of the security officers stepped forward and approached him. "High Commander," he began, "we have secured the prisoners, what further orders do you have?" Sevrith smiled before replying, "Let them stew for a while. I will call for them when I am ready. There are many things that I will want to ask them. Keep them under constant guard." The security man nodded, and replied, " It will be done." "See to it that it is, I do not broach failure well. Now go." The guard stepped aside and headed for the security area, while Sevrith headed for his Office to put his questions into order. Tom liked away missions. They often had multiple chances to prove himself. He had grown a lot more confident of his skills over the last few years. NRPG: This assumes Sam is in there for some reason. If not let me know and I can re-post RPG: He entered and saw his pal Sam Lopez look up. Tom wave and walked over. "Hello Doc. i am here for my 'beauty' treatment" Tom said, chuckling (reply: Sam) This was the first time he had been surgically altered and he was sa bit curious. he had seen picture of the Irixilans but how would he look? The alteration really was quick. He looked at himself in the mirror. He supposed that like the others, his was looking not at his normal familiar face, he was looking at features that unfamiliar and alien to him. His cheek bones had been raised slightly, elongating his face and giving it a completely different texture. The thin antler like horns were only slightly curved and looked almost as if a pair of them had intertwined as they had sprouted from his cheekbones. ~Man, this would be a great idea for a Halloween party~ he thought. "Thanks" Tom aid and headed off to his quarter to read up on the mission again. He had been trying to put it off for a long as possible. It was not that he was vane about the way he looked it was just he was not wonderfully happy about getting the procedure done. ~If the Boss servived the experiance it can't be that bad right!~ He walked up to one of the doctors who was on duty. "Um I've come for the surgery. if this is a bad time I can come back tomorrow?" ~But if you don't get it done now you won't come back. Yeh but thay won't know that.~ (Reply Lopez, Ichijo) (Reply Lopez, Ichijo, any) (Posted by Robbie) ===================================================================== (USS Rosenante - Observation Lounge - CO- Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid - Day 7- 0010) For the last two hours the Rosenante had been moving under cloak towards the Irlix system. The ship had adjusted their course and heading so that they would enter the system well above the systems elliptic plane. It was Ahmed's hope that the unorthodox approach would assist them in remaining hidden from the unwanted sensors and eyes of the Irlixians. The system was interesting. It was comprised of six planets, two inner worlds and the other four outer planets. The closest planet was close to the main sequence star that held the system together with it's gravitational pull. The small barren world slung it's way around it's host star like an Olympic sprinter competing for the gold medal. It was a fast spinning, hot little world, whose daytime temperatures soared high enough to melt some of the rock exposed on it's surface. It's nighttime temperatures plummeted to depths that were incomprehensible to the human mind. The second planet Irlix, was unusual, only in that it was the second planet in the system. There were very few habitable planets in the 'habitable' zone of a main sequence star that were not at least the third or fourth planet in that stellar system. But Irlix, was different. It occupied a section of space that was perfect for it's ability to support life. It was even more uncommon to see a planet of this type have not one, but two, class N worlds, each nearly the size of Earth's own moon. Fortunately, there was a massive gap between Irlix I and the inhabited world, and interestingly enough there was a similar gap between it and it's next closest neighbor Irlix III. The latter four worlds were gas Giants, two of which, Irlix VI and Irlix III were ringed with intricate fragile looking rings of ice and dust. Irlix V was a deep methane blue, with massive storm systems swirling in it's upper atmosphere, while Irlix IV was a more sedate orange and red mixture, not unlike that of the Sol system's Jupiter. Dralar adjusted their course somewhat as they broke the plane of the elliptic, and settled the Rosenante into a high polar orbit. Instead of being a bipolar movement however, the helms man had placed the ship into a circular west-east orbit, very high atop the globe that was the Planet of their interest. The Polar Caps were visible as a clear blue white sheet of endless ice, stretching out to the horizon. With their relative position, that was about all they could see of the planet and for a few moments Ahmed was a little disappointed. There were no signs of the Irlixian starships, and so for the moment the Rosenante appeared to be safely nestled in her orbit. He didn't dare order a more active scan to determine if they were near, but he could almost bet that they wouldn't be very far away. They could just as easily be orbiting one of the other planets, or one of the moons in the system. Without risking an active scan, and thereby possibly revealing their position he simply couldn't be certain. He knew that there were still a few details for the away team to finish working out. A couple of final cosmetic surgeries and a little bit of additional research before they were ready to depart, but he had full confidence in his people to pull off the job. (reply All) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Sick Bay - SO - Ensign Mike Rosenbauer - Day 7- 0400) Mike had finished his morning workout with a vigor that he had not felt since Jennifer had left the ship. He had found himself in a little bit of a quandary over her leaving so suddenly, without so much a s a goodbye. The rapidity of the event had left him stunned angry and just a little hurt, but over the course of the last few weeks he had come to realize the reason that she had avoided telling him goodbye. It was a simple reason and that was that she could not have bore the emotional rollercoaster that she would have felt had they spoken. This morning, he had awakened a different man, secure in the knowledge that she hadn't meant to hurt him, and that in fact she had somehow hoped to spare him some of the pain that she had felt when she had lost her husband all those years ago. A run through the ship's lower decks helped to get his pulse rate up before he arrived at the gym. A burn session of mixed martial arts and aerobics kept the rate up for a while, before the muscle building lifting took him through a slower pace that helped his recovery time. Afterwards it had been ten minutes in the sauna and another ten in a holographic massage chamber. Then it was straight on to sickbay. Mike was wearing a fresh gray Jumper, with a single stripe of Security Gold around the collar. The Starfleet rangers Logo was emblazoned over his left breast and he was also wearing a soft cap of the same gray color. Running shoes rounded out the attire and allowed him a level of comfort that helped to counter the anxiety that he was feeling about being Cosmetically altered. "Good Morning Doctors." He said addressing those in the bay (reply Ichijo or Lopez) "I'm ready to get underway. Shall we get started?" (reply Ichijo or Lopez) (USS Rosenante - Sick Bay - SO - Ensign Mike Rosenbauer - Day 7- 0445) Mike stood regarding himself in the mirror that had been resented to him. Instead of his normal familiar face, he was looking at features that were hauntingly unfamiliar and alien to him. His conscience mind told him that he was looking at himself, but his more creative brain simply wouldn't accept it. His coloration was a more pale purple color, with slightly darker violet splotches. His hair was a deep plum color, almost dark enough to be mistaken for black in dim light. His cheek bones had been raised slightly, elongating his face and giving it a completely different texture. The thin antler like horns were only slightly curved and looked almost as if a pair of them had intertwined as they had sprouted from his cheekbones. The only thing that he recognized were his eyes. They held the same gleam of knowledge, the same mischievous glance that he had spent years cultivating. Their color was a little deeper, and a bit more red, but the soul that he could see through the window panes of his eyes was very much his own. His eyes travelled away from the mirror and down to his hands. They too bore the markings of the Irlixians. The nails were thick and dark, not monstrous, but more of a wedge shape reminiscent of an evolution from some hoofed ancestor. Of course his entire body had been treated, at least on the exterior. The safety of the away team could depend upon what he looked like without his clothes on. To say that the transformation had been entirely appealing would have been a lie. The sparse rough fur on his chest and belly alone were less than appealing. "Amazing, simply amazing, Doctor." mike commented. (reply Doctor Ichijo or Lopez) "I guess I should get out of your way and finish getting ready for the mission. I'll see you later then." Mike then smiled and left the sickbay. He was hungry and determined to get at least one more decent meal before he left the ship. (reply Ichijo or Lopez) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Sick Bay - AFO - Lt Cmdr T'Larah Sullivan - 0730) T'Larah entered the sick bay PADD in hand. She was going over some of the last minute details of the mission she had almost forgotten to go get the surgical alterations. It would be unfortunate for her to show up to her first away team command as First Officer and not be in the uniform herself. Looking for the good doctors she found what she was looking for, as one of the doctors was applying the last of the facial modifications to the other, who was already 'in costume'. "Doctors, just the two surgeons I was looking for. Putting the last touches?" she inquired. (Reply Ichijo, Lopez) "I was just stopping by to get the modifications myself, so besides yourselves who else has stopped by?" she asked. (Reply Ichijo or Lopez) "Really? That's it." she replied stoically but somehow managed to convey disappointment. Sullivan went to the communications panel on the wall. If the Irlixians had sensors, they could possibly detect the subspace transmissions of the personal com-badges, she didn't want to take that chance. She programmed the audio to output to the nearest audio, so as not to inundate the entire crew with what a select few needed to know. "Sullivan to members of the away team. There will be a briefing to go over the special equipment that will be needed for the mission. It will be conducted in the briefing room outside of transporter room 2 at 0945 hours. Everyone is expected to have gone through sickbay for their surgical alterations and be in the appropriate Irlixian civilian attire at that time. Sullivan out." she said closing the station down. "Now, Doctors, about those alterations." she said. (Reply Ensigns Ichijo, Lopez) (Posted by Todd) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Sick Bay - aCMO- Esn Kimiko Ichijo - Day 7- 0735) Kimiko had just finished the alteration of another crew and was standing by a bed trying not to rub her eyes. Try as she might, she was not able to locate any Irlixian.with an epicanthic fold with the prerequisite massive retardation, which (after much consideration) would not benefit the team. However it would explain the lack of horns...... ~No, no matter how these things feel, I doubt that team would appreciate the fact that I didn't want to 'dress up'~ The doctor looked up to see that Commander Sullivan had walked into sickbay "Doctors, just the two surgeons I was looking for. Putting the last touches?" she inquired. "yes ma'am" Kimiko replied, happy for something to distract her "I was just stopping by to get the modifications myself, so besides yourselves who else has stopped by?" she asked. "Just one so far" Kimiko replied "Really? That's it." she replied stoically but somehow managed to convey disappointment. Sullivan went to the communications panel on the wall. "If you would lay in the bed, we'll try to make it as painless as possible" Kimiko motioned toward a bed. (Reply Sulllivan) The Doctor explained the procedure as she was administering several airhypos. "Now, the nanites that are flowing though your body right now are going to bind as proteins to the cells on the upper level of your epidermis, the harmless biological reaction that they will have with your cell's g5 proteins will turn them blue." The Ensign applies another injection "As for the darker areas, I had to develop another subroutine for the randomization, since that first time I tried with the program from the database, I managed to get stripes." (Reply Sullivan) "But all seems to be in order now" Kimiko steps away from the bed and states "We will give about five minutes to allow nanites to do their job and we'll get your horns for you" In about ten minutes, the doctor had affixed the horns and cleared the Commander. "If you develop a rash, burn, substantial itching, color-tinged vision or any other symptoms, regardless of how inconsequential, let me know, did you have any questions for me?" (Reply Sullivan) (Posted by Jack) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Personal Quarters - aCEO Mitena Rixx - Day 7 - 0745) Once Mitena had finally found what she'd been looking for concerning the pre mission briefing, she'd finally gotten some rest. The first message of the day informed her that the equipment modifications had been completed and materials were being sent to the transporter room for use by the away team. Checking the time, she put on the clothing that Ensign Remey had sent the specifications for and headed directly to Sickbay. She had considered going the night before but wasn't exactly sure if she'd be able to sleep with antlers. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Personal Quarters - aCEO Mitena Rixx - Day 7 - 0750) As she came into Sickbay, she could see that Commander Sullivan was in the process of having her alterations made and she watched with fascination. It had always occurred to her that if she had not gone into Engineering, Medical would have been an acceptable career choice. As they finished up the work on Sullivan, Mitena took a seat and waited her turn. When it was apparent that they were done, she stood and stepped forward. "Good morning, I guess that it is my turn?" Mitena said with a smile. (reply either Ichijo, Lopez (Sullivan, iyw)) When given the go ahead she took the place that Commander Sullivan had just vacated. "Will I have hair too? Long like yours?"
