I need routes that will mask our movement and if not traversable by foot, then we will need to procure an appropriate vehicle or vehicles. Use your best judgment, then I will need a briefing and a risk assessment on the route so I can clear it." Chance didn’t mind referring to himself as Charlie, especially since most everyone else on the team had already started for him. But names aside, there was something about Ios that just didn’t made the ex-Privateer uncomfortable. He turned to Ios and smiled at her even though every movement of his torso caused him a lot of pain. “Well Ios, please feel free to call me Charlie.” He said as he held his hand out to her as if to shake hands. (Reply Ios) “Is there a map here in the house somewhere that we can use so I can get a rough idea of where it is we’re going?” (Reply Ios) “I need to know the lay of the landscape, roads, all security checkpoints, any current construction, guards, and layout of the buildings, floor plans, troops, weapons, anything and everything you can tell me.” (Reply Ios) “I also want to know about the owners of this villa.” Chance said with a dark warning in his eyes. Use your best judgment, then I will need a briefing and a risk assessment on the route so I can clear it." Sullivan ordered. Ios' eye tracked to the man who responded next. He stood in a manner that indicated that he had led a tough life. One that smacked of dirty deeds and unsavory attitudes, yet there was a gentleness in his eyes that belayed his stance. It was as if he was turning over a new leaf, going from an unsavory past into a more ideal future perhaps. “Well Ios, please feel free to call me Charlie.” He said as he held his hand out to her as if to shake hands. He offered his hand to her and she blushed. It wasn't every day that she was propositioned by an alien male. It was one of those awkward moments where she was torn for a moment between being embarrassed and incensed by his forwardness. She shook her head for to clear it of the thoughts, reminding herself that he, being from another world was probably not familiar with the gesture as one of courting. He probably made the gesture innocently enough and it probably meant something entirely different to the humans than it did to Irlixians. Swallowing the lump in her throat and hoping that she was right, she gingerly placed her right hand in his. He took it and gave it a slight shake, which confirmed her suspicions that it was not a sign that he was interesting in propositioning her. That caused her to relax somewhat. "I am pleased to make your acquaintance Charlie." she managed to say past her still slightly rosy cheeks. “Is there a map here in the house somewhere that we can use so I can get a rough idea of where it is we’re going?” he asked her. Ios scrunched up her face in thought for a second before responding. "I don't know. It's not my house. But I can pull up a map on my personal PADD." She offered, then reached into her coat pocket to pull up the small personal display device. She tapped in a few commands on the device, and pulled up the approved civilian maps of the area. They were the best she could access without setting of National security alarms immediately. She offered the PADD to Charlie. “I need to know the lay of the landscape, roads, all security checkpoints, any current construction, guards, and layout of the buildings, floor plans, troops, weapons, anything and everything you can tell me.” ~Wow.~ She thought, ~that's a lot of data.~ "I may not know all of that, but I can share what I know with you." She offered. "Let's see..." she began pointing to the map on the device. "We're here, roughly, and the Seliya facility is here, inside Mount Seliya. It's 25 kilometers northwest of us. Khoda city, where we are now sits at a lower elevation than the facility. The entry to the facility is at 1200 meters above sea level, Khoda city is at 285 meters above sea level, so a difference of 915 meters. The land is rolling hills, with a few small farmsteads around the city. But 10 kilometers from the facility is the beginning of the restricted zone." She traced a rough red circle around the mountain on the PADD. "I've been told that there are detectors scattered through out that area to keep anyone from approaching the facility on foot or by ground vehicle. They don't arrest you if you breach the area. They just shoot on sight. There are no roads not that I know of anyway." she said with a frown. "Instead there's a flight corridor, from the Khoda Government Building directly to the facility. It's an automated route, so I don't know the heading or anything. The pilots are only along in case the computers fail. The flights leave every hour, conveying personnel and equipment. Each flight is assigned a unique pass code." "That code turns off the section of the force field along the flight path so that the shuttle can land in the facility. If the code fails you'll never know it until the shuttle hits the barrier. It's happened before." She added. "It's all automated." "The force field makes a complete domes starting at 5 kilometers from the facility. It covers the entire mountain and protects it from unwanted entry as well as potential attack from an enemy." "As for troops." she shrugged, "There are about 20,000 personnel assigned to the facility. Scientists, clerks, support personnel and security forces. The security teams area fully armed, but no one else is. It's a pretty secure base. You need authorization to get through security doors and security check points going into the secured areas." "When the shuttles arrive they land in the same hanger, although a different part, where the alien... I mean Federation, starships are located. They are under guard of course." "I can't access maps of the facility from here, but I know the layout and can get you a map once we get inside." “I also want to know about the owners of this villa.” Chance said. Ios picked up a sense of threat from Charlie on his last statement, but since she couldn't determine what sort of threat it was, she pushed past it and answered his question anyway. "The villa belongs to a friend of mine, Revala Saldexa. She is a archeologist and her father is as well. They are on an expedition south of here and won't be back for a long while. I often watch their house for them when they go on long trips. That's why I have the access code." she said, not certain why this was such an important thing to him. ~Maybe he just wants to know how long they can expect it to be before they find my body~ She thought with a shudder. But it was too late to be thinking about things like that now. She'd made her decision and now there was no going back. If the Aliens were going to kill her, then they'd be able to do so without too much worry. After all they had energy beams that could disintegrate an entire body. Ios would just disappear and never be found again. (reply Raschen) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix- Khoda City- Second District - The Villa - CTAC/SEC- LT Chance Raschen-1529) Chance accepted the proffered data-PADD and followed along as Ios spoke. Raschen was having problems believing everything she was telling him. “Sit Down.” Chance stated calmly as he pointed to the nearest chair. Then he sat in a different chair well out of arms reach. “Does that barrier conform to the surface terrain only?” (Reply Ios) Nodding his head in acknowledgment of her answer, Chance simply and quietly explained “I have a slight problem Ios. Some of the information you have told me was not on the PADD; much of it is too detailed to be ‘second hand’ as you indicated; you describe procedures and the facility as if you have been there; and I am simply an untrusting soul. Now tell me; who do you and your friends work for?” (Reply Ios) (Reply Ios) Posted by Charlie --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix- Khoda City- Second District - The Villa – ACSO Louis Remey- Day 7, 1542) Tom was the epitome of thought as he gave his head a scratch. "I guess we should see if there is somewhere public like an information kiosk and try there?" Tom said out loud. "That sounds like a good idea." Louis acknowledged. "I think the sheer numbers of a public place is the way to go. I want us to scan the escape routes thoroughly as I plan on living to a ripe old age myself" Tom said as he chuckled. "Agreed," Louis said as he gave a grin. "Abrupt termination of our life cycles are to be avoided if possible." He looked at Robbie to see if he had anything to add. (Reply: Robbie iyw) Afterward Louis mentioned his thoughts on uplinking the worm. " I think we should also do the latter - the less time on the uplink the better" Tom added. Louis nodded in reply. (Reply: Any) "Should we make a copy of the databases before we 'neutralize them? We might find some tricks that would also benefit the UFP. I am sure SF Intel would like to get their hands on it as well" Tom asked. Louis agreed completely. "I believe that would be wise if we have the time, we would be cutting things close though. That would be your call." (Reply: Robbie) "We could simply try and overwhelm the system and let it literally blow its own mind or delete everything - a full wipe" Jackson added thoughtfully. "That could instigate what I mentioned to the Commander if we're not careful." Louis said carefully. "A pinpoint wipe should be suffiicient. We don't want to throw this civilization 'under the bus' if we can avoid it. To do so would leave them at the mercy of their enemies not to mention the damage it would do to their infrastructure." (Reply: Any) (Posted by Charles) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix- Khoda City- Second District - The Crash Site - aCMO Kimiko Ichijo- Day 7- 1638) The doctor was examining the disguised phaser, it was a bit on the unwieldy side and the accuracy was going to suffer, but hopefully that was not going to be a issue. ~Sure, Miko. we've been so good about it before.~ she thought sarcastically to herself ~well, if there no help for it, I might as well be as efficient as possible.~. "Ready?" asked Matrix. "Yes sir" Kimiko replied The three moved away from Rosenbauer's team quietly for about 12 meters and stopped so the team could regroup. "Okay...I don't think we gave away our position." said Matrix as he looked over the wall toward their target. "Lets double time it for another 15 or so meters. Stay with me, but move a quietly as possible." Kimiko judged the distance with a critical eye. "I believe we are at long range for dispersed beam and I am thinking that we could render 75 - 80% of them unconscious from here.with " "I don't think so. If we can keep the element of surprise I don't see us having a problem with our plan. Okay...check weapons and lets get moving." said Matrix has he moved out short of a full sprint. A few more moments and Matrix signaled the group to stop. There was a break in the wall where they could get over without too much concern of being spotted by the security team guarding the shuttle. There were about seven guards about 45 meters to the west of the shuttle. Out of breath, Matrix looked back at Lopez and Ichijo and gave a thumbs up. =^= Matrix to Rosenbauer...we're making our way over the wall now....we should be able to make the shuttle in a few minutes. If you don't hear phaser fire that's a good thing. I'll signal you again once I get in the shuttle and have the feedback loop engaged. Matrix out. =^= (Reply Rosenbauer IYW) "Ichijo see if you can make your way over to that crest of sand just about 10 meters toward the west of the shuttle. That should keep you covered and close enough to provide support if we get discovered. Lopez and I will head over to the runabout. Stay low and don't fire unless your discovered or we are. Got it!?" asked Matrix Kimiko bit her tongue to avoid pointing out who exactly were the trigger happy people around here, somehow she felt the the lieutenant would not appreciate the information. "certainly, will not fire unless our is discovered" The doctor made her way to the berm, halfway there, the ensign realized that she would have to crawl to avoid detection. Grumbling to herself she dropped to her hands and knees and made her way to the mound. Kimiko was very annoyed and the itching of the sand in her clothes was enough to make her want to shoot someone. The doctor shifted her view from the group of Ixians to the pair of psudo-Ixians making their way to the shuttle. She was still angry over the affront to her dignity, crawling like a child, when she was a doctor, a surgeon. Ichijo got a fleeting thought of Sanji kyouju, the terror of first year Microanatomy, getting unbent enough to crawl though the dirt. The CMO smiled to herself. Still, she was a doctor holding a phaser on a group of unaware people, while there were injured to tend to. It is an imperfect universe. (Reply Any) (Posted by Kevin) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix, Outside Khoda City, Ensign Machaire Rabhartaigh, 1639*) Machaire looked slowly around to see who was talking. His eyes focused momentarily on the ensign, ~ Neil, Niall, O'Neil, no O'Neill. What was the first name again? Ian? No, that is not it, Ewan? Oh yes, Eian ~, and lost the focus for a spell of vertigo. " Pleased to reaffirm your acquaintance Eian O'Neill like potaire said to the bottle of Whisky. Am running on fumes and grinding transmissions but please fill in my blank spots while I make a determination to either keel over and be off your hair or to continue to see how long I can pretend to be a drunken Klingon." He rose slowly to his full height and shook his head, it hurt but as no vomiting erupted he put the worry over a concussion on the back burner. Ít could be a possibility but for now he was just about as clear headed as any ground up and spat out coffee bean. "So, no Rosenante and shore leave in sight?", Machaire took hold of his nose and pounded the floor with his feet while pulling the nose straight. That would help in the healing and it bothered him to see the tip of his nose in one eye but not on the other. He saw spots but it was worth it, it insistent throb was already reduced to a manageable level. Machaire took few wobbly steps to the bag and opened it, there were samples, chips and his holocube. " Care to immortalize the moment? Seems my photo collection is safe. ", he located the starting side and turned it few times to activate the imaging process and placed it on the floor. It's sides lightened for a brief moment and captured to moment. " I can give you a copy of it later, a remainder about the folly of mankind's desire to fly like a bird and of the curse of Irish luck never lasting that last mile." After listening O'Neill state his ideas, Machaire thought it over a moment. It was as good as any he was able to come up but there was some things that could be tweaked. " Repulsor fields are bit finicky if the emitter is damaged and you do not want to go out and fix it but you said there is at least one emitter online for the EM. Would it not be easier to alter its output to sonics? Alternating fields cause vibration, vibration is sound and thus we have a primitive LRAD, an omnidirectional sonic cannon. It will affect sight, hearing, balance and causes also pain with quite a long recovery period for hearing. It will also fry the circuits of this sean capall but it is not flying out of here under its own power anyway." Machaire wrapped a bandage around his wrist to prevent it from bending too much and took the bag. " I would not trust the people to be all that righteous when gun wielding people prance around. But if there is any way to get even one ping out of the sensors to know in which direction to run, that would be marvelous and," he looked around the thrashed runabout, "I think the stuffing in these chairs, those broken isolinear chips, few small containers and generous splash of coolant from behind that panel and we can get few smoke grenades, crude and toxic to environment but I think the situation warrants throwing ecological worries to the side for a moment, yes? " (Reply Ensign Eian O'Neill, any) (Posted by Kateb Nadel) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix, Outside Khoda City, Ensign Eian O'Neill, 1640*) When Rabhartaigh took a photo of the surroundings, Eian couldn't help but smile. Yes, this *was* a bit of Irish luck, wasn't it? He'd save this picture--a reminder not only of Irish luck and man's quest to fly, but of his impeccable ability to land himself in peculiar situations. ~You can't do anything, not even report for duty, without causing commotion,~ he joked to himself. He wouldn't send the picture to his father. His brother Glenn was in the Academy's application process and Eian knew that relaying the details to Captain O'Neill would result in Glenn getting an earful about making a "careful decision" and knowing "what you're getting yourself into." After he told Rabhartaigh about his escape idea, his comrade came up with a number of good ideas himself. "Repulsor fields are a bit finicky if the emitter is damaged and you do not want to go out and fix it but you said there is at least one emitter online for the EM. Would it not be easier to alter its output to sonics? Alternating fields cause vibration, vibration is sound and thus we have a primitive LRAD, an omnidirectional sonic cannon. It will affect sight, hearing, balance, and causes also pain with quite a long recovery period for hearing. It will also fry the circuits of this sean capall but it is not flying out of here under its own power anyway." Rabhartaigh continued, "I would not trust the people to be all that righteous when gun wielding people prance around. But if there is any way to get even one ping out of the sensors to know in which direction to run, that would be marvelous and...I think the stuffing in these chairs, those broken isolinear chips, a few small containers and generous splash of coolant from behind that panel and we can make a few smoke grenades. Crude and toxic to the environment but I think the situation warrants throwing ecological worries to the side for the moment, yes?" Eian nodded as he listened. "I agree--we can definitely rig an omnidirectional sonic cannon. But if we do that, and fry the emitter and everything else in this shuttle, there's a good chance it will catch fire again. The last two fires were caused by the crash bursting a gel pack and the conductive fluid landing in a place where a transformer and a few wires had fused together from the heat. If we rig this thing, there's a large chance that the emitter will overload and it's dangerously close to a gel pack. If I remove the gel pack, the emitter gets no charge and no directions from the computer, which means that the EM pulse shuts down and the entire control board catches fire. Hopefully that happens *after* we successfully send out the boom. And there are two main risks, actually. Not only could the sonic cannon cause another fire, which could happen before or after we send out the boom, but I have no way of evaluating our sound insulation in this shuttle. I already removed that module to prevent it from combusting, and reattaching it would take too long. We might be impaired by any rebound from the surrounding area--vehicles, trees, anything that's out there could create an echo. It wouldn't be anywhere as bad as what they get from the omnidirectional pulse, but it would probably hurt." He continued, "As far as the smoke grenades--I was actually thinking the same thing. But if you use the isolinear chips inside the aft power containment panel over there, you might have better luck. If you get started on that, I can handle the preparations for the sonic boom." Steven Matrix - Day 7- 1641) Matrix headed toward the runabout as quickly as possible. As he got closer he could make out another security guard on the backside of the runabout. Matrix gestured the treat to Lopez and slowed his approach. "I'll get around to the back and try and take out the guard." said Matrix. (Reply Lopez) Matrix continued toward the runabout. The security guard was facing east, away from Matrix. He slowed his approach and moved slightly west in case the guard suddenly turned around, he would try to keep the runabout between him and the guard. A phaser blast even on stun would alert the other guards and the rest of the away team so shooting the solo guard was out of the question. The other security guards were only about 40 meters away toward the west. He decided to try and surprise the lone guard and swung around the front of the craft. The guard still had his back toward Matrix. With a quick sprint Matrix made the short distance and leaped in the air slightly with his elbow bent and came down on the guard's right shoulder, just below the his neck. The force of the lieutenant's momentum and body weight knocked the guard unconscious. Matrix took the guards weapon and signaled Lopez to proceed. "Shawn, see what you can do about getting this shuttle door open." said Matrix as he looked around for more guards. It was odd that they weren't trying to gain entry to the crashed ship and for a short while Mike was wondering if there was any chance that the officer in question were even inside the wreckage to begin with. That's when he noticed that once of the security people was fidgeting with his hand held phaser. It was obviously malfunctioning and Mike wondered if the runabout's passenger had managed somehow to disable the device through some spark of creative inspiration. Mike glanced back at Sanok. He was keeping a vigilant eye out for potential interference in the form of unwanted reinforcements. In actuality it was pretty surprising to Mike that this place wasn't already swarming with security forces bent on peeling that runabout open and getting to the personnel inside. =^=Matrix to Rosenbauer...we're making our way over the wall now....we should be able to make the shuttle in a few minutes. If you don't hear phaser fire that's a good thing. I'll signal you again once I get in the shuttle and have the feedback loop engaged. Matrix out. =^= Mike gave the Vulcan security officer a nod and tapped his own watch to reply. "Understood, we are on overwatch." Mike replied quickly. The other portion of the assault team started moving and were in position in very little time. From Mike's position, he could see Matrix moving up the side of the Runabout, until he disabled one of the guards who had not been as attentive as he should have been. "Okay Sanok." Mike said. "There are two on the left side heading towards the port side of the runabout. They're yours. I'll get the two in the front and the others can get the last guard. Ready?" (reply Sanok) Mike nodded then raised his disguised phaser, took aim and said, "Now!" as he squeezed the trigger. The beam intersected the first guard on the starboard side in his midsection. He jerked and collapsed as the stun setting disabled him. He friend spun just in time to catch a beam of his own. Both security officers on this side of the runabout were down. He glanced over to see that Sanok had similar results and a moment later the last guard dropped as one of the other of his ship mates managed to immobilize the last of the Irlixians. Mike rose from his position of cover and spoke to Sanok again. "Let's go, we'll need to move them away from the Runabout so that they aren't killed it when it is destroyed." he stated and leapt over the wall that they had been using for concealment. (reply Sanok) The Security officer jogged to the fallen Irlixians and started to lift the first into a fireman's carry. As he did so he spoke to Matrix. "Steve." he said maintaining the protocol that Sullivan had ordered. "Sanok and I are going to get the stunned Irlixians free. Give us a minute or two to make certain they're not in danger." (reply Matrix) "How long will it take to get inside and do your thing with the Runabout?" (reply matrix) Mike nodded. Just keep in mind, we look like Irlixians and it looks like the locals attacked our crew when they tried to egress from the ship. They may not be very happy to see us until they realize who we are." There was reactions, light jumping in chips in a rapid succession. Had he not just been taking off a fractured chip he would not have even noticed it. " O'Neill, the circuitry F-2/543 was reacting to external stimulus just a moment ago. I am cinnte that it is the hatchway circuitry. We are going to be breached in a moment or two, by who? Ag Dia atá a fhios!" Machaire took couple of deep breaths and grabbed a jagged piece of metal and slipped it into his sleeve. It was a move that brought back a flood of memories which he shrugged off, there was no time for them at the moment. Besides at that time situation had not been exactly the same, he had been standing on the outside. " I have a bad plan but it is the only logical solution, if it is the namhaid, enemy, I will barge forth. I am in no shape to put up a fight even with a toddler carrying a líreacan, be it of candy or ice but I sure can make a ruckus which might give you a change to make a run for it or we sit tight like little iasc in a tiny barrel?" Looking back at Rosenbauer, he signaled his understanding with a thumbs up. Rosenbauer nodded, raised his phaser, and shouted. "Now!" Sanok took aim and fired, holding down the firing stud so a continuous beam came forth. The two men he targeted, dropped like rag dolls. Rosenbauer rose from his position of cover and spoke to Sanok again. "Let's go. We'll need to move them away from the runabout so that they aren't killed when it is destroyed." He leaped over the wall and headed for the stunned Irlixians. Sanok followed, easily climbing the wall, moving to the two men he had stunned. Lifting one, he moved the unconscious man behind some bushes. Quickly moving to the other, he laid him next to his companion. He took their weapons and tossed them into a patch of trees. "Sanok. Wait here," said Rosenbauer. "Keep your eyes open for reinforcements. I'm going to see if we can get things sped up a bit." Sanok acknowledged the order and took a defensive position behind a tree that had a clear line of sight of anything that might be coming up the road. As the minutes passed, Sanok saw that two injured Starfleet officers had been rescued from the downed runabout, and most of the stunned Irlixians had been moved to safety. They were almost ready to leave, and that couldn't have come quickly enough. It was still beyond comprehension, that they hadn't been encountered by someone, or a resident from the neighborhood hadn't at least come to see what was happening. Detecting a faint sound with his enhanced, Vulcan hearing, he activated his tricorder. Perhaps he had thought too soon. "This is Sanok," he said after tapping his comm badge. "There is a small convoy of vehicles approaching our position at a high rate of speed." At that second the door opened up and Sam could see two survivors inside the wrecked Shuttle."I am Sam Lopez an undercover starfleet officer from the starship Rosentante here to rescue you two"Sam said. The two officers seemed to be in shock not knowing what to say. "I know it seems a little unbelievable, but we don't have much time we must leave"Sam said. (Reply by O'Neill,Rabhartaigh) (posted by Shawn) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix, Outside Khoda City, Ensign Eian O'Neill, 1649*) Eian was near the cockpit, trying to remodulate the emitter for the sonic boom, when Rabhartaigh saw the 5th series F-2 circuit sensors bleep. There was no possibility of that being a power surge. The F-2 circuits were protected by an insulated inner-module, and were run on a series circuit, not parallel, straight to the exterior sensors. That was why they didn't fry in the crash, and why they were still operational. "Shit," Eian swore, and made his way quickly over to where he had placed the two remaining phasers. He tossed one to his fellow officer. He saw Rabhartaigh stick the metal in his sleeve, and hoped the phasers had enough charge that his comrade wouldn't have to use it. "I have a bad plan but it is the only logical solution," Rabhartaigh said. "If it is the namhaid, enemy, I will barge forth. I am in no shape to put up a fight even with a toddler carrying a lireacan, be it of candy or ice but I sure can make a ruckus which might give you a chance to make a run for it or we sit tight like little iasc in a tiny barrel?" Eian immediately shook his head. "No, I refuse to participate in that kind of plan. Listen, Rabhartaigh, if we're going down, we're going down together." He set his phaser to kill, and took a deep breath. "Let's give 'em hell." He heard the hatch budge a bit, and got into position where he could lean up against the bulkhead of the shuttle for support, and still be able to fire. He didn't want his injured leg giving out on him in the middle of this fight. The shuttle hatch moved slightly again, and Eian took the seconds he knew they had before it was breached to say a prayer to himself. ~God, bless my family, keep them safe, watch over them. It's not looking so good here...they outnumber us and we're injured with two phasers, one of which has half charge.~ He paused a moment, nearly jumping when the hatch budged again. ~The Lord is my Shepherd,~ he began reciting the 23rd Psalm in his head, and forced himself to put on his game face. The hatch opened, and an Irlixian ducked in but immediately said, "I am Sam Lopez, an undercover Starfleet Officer from the Starship Rosenante here to rescue you two." Eian didn't shift his gaze from the intruder, but he couldn't resist looking a bit shocked. "Sam Lopez," if that was really his name, wasn't pointing a weapon at them and unless it was an elaborate trap, didn't seem to want to kill them. He claimed he was from the Rosenante, but Eian knew that he could have been the one to capture the Rosenante and that would explain why it was absent from its assigned position. Before either of them could ask any questions, Sam continued, "I know it seems a little unbelievable, but we don't have much time--we must leave. Eian pursed his lips, and made one of those split second decisions he was so good at. He decided to trust Sam for now. "We're both injured--I can run if we have to but I don't know how far I'll get. And he's gonna need some help," Eian said, indicating Rabhartaigh. He didn't want to use names at this point, just in case this was a ploy. "Where are we going?" He asked as he limped over to their bag and slung it over his shoulder. He quickly tucked the smokebombs inside, out of Sam's sight. (reply Lopez) He looked to Rabhartaigh. "Can you make it that far?" (reply Rabhartaigh) Eian nodded. "Okay...let's go." She knew it was only a matter of time before the heavy stuff got there. She drew a bead on the Ixian that was in communication and waited, shifting her gaze from the entry party and the waiting ixians. Suddenly a flash of phaser fire brightened the area and her phaser fired almost without a command from her brain. She saw that it was a good hit and the trooper went down in a boneless heap in mid-word. The ensign shifted her fire to a Ixianian who had dug out a item from his bandoleer, he looked to be arming something when her phaser beam caught him in the side. Her final shot caught a soldier in the back as he turned to fire at the onrushing Rosenbauer. ~Hum, three for three. I wonder what gunny Suarez would have said to that.~ The doctor smiled to that. ~Probably, "adequate, but faster next time. The enemy almost threw a grenade".~ The doctor saw Rosenbauer motioning for her, stood up and dusted herself off. She jogged over to the craft as officer disappeared into it. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix- Khoda City- Second District - The Crash Site - SO Mike Rosenbauer - Day 7- 1651*) ~Taking too long damn it!~ Mike cursed to himself mentally, ~Get the damned hatch open already.~ He knew that it was just a matter of time now before the sound of the phasers would send Irlixian authorities on their way here, if they weren't already in route as it was. "Sanok." Mike said a moment later. "Wait here, keep your eyes open for reinforcements. I'm going to see if we can get things sped up a bit." (reply Sanok) Mike stood and walked around the end of the short wall that he and Sanok had been using for cover a few moments before. He stalked purposefully forward towards the Runabout, waving at Ichijo as he went, indicating that she should join them. "Sir." Mike said as he reached Matrix. "We are running out of time." (reply Matrix) Suddenly there was a hissing noise as the hatch to the Shuttle attempted to actuate. It came part way open, before finally coming open the rest of the way. Lopez had managed to get it open. "I am Sam Lopez an undercover Starfleet officer from the starship Rosenante here to rescue you two." Mike overheard, and he turned his attention towards the shuttle. There wasn't a single Starfleet officer, there were two of them, both ensigns and it seemed very much the worse for wear. ~Frak!~ "I know it seems a little unbelievable, but we don't have much time--we must leave." Sam reiterated. Mike now moved over to the open door. His eyes taking in the wrecked interior as one of the ensigns spoke. "We're both injured--I can run if we have to but I don't know how far I'll get. And he's gonna need some help," He motioned towards his partner. "I'll carry him." Mike stated, stepping into the compartment. "Where are we going?" the same man asked. "We have a safe house, a Villa about 5 kilometers from here. But we have to get going before anyone wakes up or reinforcements arrive." Mike added. ""Can you make it that far?" The ensign asked his more injured companion. (reply Rabhartaigh) Eian nodded. "Okay...let's go." Mike nodded. "Fireman's carry will work the best." he said as he reached down and hefted the injured officer over his shoulder. The man was heavy but not exceptionally so. With a little effort, Mike carried him down the partially deployed hatchway and out into the landing. The other Ensign was nearby. "Doctor!" Mike shouted for Ichijo. "Wounded here." (reply Ichijo) "Mister Lopez, start grabbing supplies, we need to hurry." (reply Lopez) "Lieutenant Matrix, sir. I suggest we start preparing the destruction of the ship's critical systems." (reply Matrix) Mike carried Machaire away from the shuttle at least a hundred feet before resting him against the wall where Doctor Ichijo could render him aid. He then turned to the other arrival. (reply Rabhartaigh) "If you're not seriously injured, I need you to give me a hand." he explained, "We need to drag or carry the stunned Irlixians away from the runabout. Matrix is going to destroy it and there's no reason they should die in the effort." (reply O'Neill) Mike tapped his commbadge, "Mike to Sullivan, sitrep follows, two injured recovered, completing secondary objectives now, returning shortly, Out." (reply Sullivan, Rabhartaigh, O'Neill, Matrix, Lopez, Ichijo, Sanok) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix, Outside Khoda City, Ensign Eian O'Neill, 1652) It was becoming increasingly clear to Eian that these people were likely who they said they were. The fact that they kept up the charade when they could have very easily taken he and Rabhartaigh captive told him that they were genuine. Additionally, Eian had never seen an Irlixian before but he caught several human gestures and body language from them, which made him trust them even more. As they made their way away from the shuttle, Eian discovered that walking long distances on his leg was nothing like walking the length of the runabout. But he would need to just deal with it until they made it back to this safe house the others had. Five kilometers. ~You can do it,~ he told himself. ~Wicklow Mountains.~ When he was eight years old, his mother and father had shore leave and they traveled to Ireland. His father and he went on a three-day camping trip in Wicklow Mountains, southwest of Dublin. Being eight years old, the hike up the mountain was extremely challenging to Eian. But his father told him when they finally reached the summit, ~"Just think, Eian. Whenever something seems too tough to handle, think of Wicklow Mountains."~ And he did, on multiple occasions including this one. ~So far so good, God...we've been delivered from one disaster. Seems like we're not at the end of the rope yet, but I'm counting on You to get us through this,~ he prayed. "If you're not seriously injured, I need you to give me a hand," the as yet unidentified officer said to him. Eian assumed he was the man in charge, judging by the fact that he gave orders to the others. "We need to drag or carry the stunned Irlixians away from the runabout. Matrix is going to destroy it and there's no reason they should die in the effort." Eian nodded. "Yes, Sir," he responded automatically, and made his way toward the nearest guard he could find. It was odd to him that he was helping to save the very people who he had been ready to kill moments before. But there was really no time for thoughts like that. He worked hard to drag the Irlixian, who was considerably bigger than Eian, from the shuttle. Sweat on his brow mixed with the blood from his head wound, and he wiped his face on his dirty sleeve as he continued to drag the man. He ignored the shooting pain in his calf from the movement and tried to distract himself with assessing the body language of the other members of this "rescue team." Looking back at Rabhartaigh, he saw the man resting slightly uncomfortably but safe for now, and nodded in approval. They weren't in direct danger here. Now he was sure of it. He caught the one who had carried Rabhartaigh speaking into his combadge, and addressing someone named "Sullivan." ~Maybe there's a much large crew here, undercover. Seems I may have reported to the right ship after all,~ he thought. ~But someone really oughta label the terminals in this airport.~ (reply any) (posted by Morgan G) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix- Khoda City- Second District - The Crash Site - ACEO Lt. Steven Matrix - Day 7- 1653) Matrix made a quick look around the area for more threats. "Lopez get that door open!" shouted Matrix. At almost that instant the shuttle door opened and Sam Lopez made entry and addressed himself to the crew inside. As the two crew members made their way out. Matrix entered and surveyed the damage. "The consoles are a mess." he grumbled as he pressed console buttons to assess functionality. Matrix moved the mess of debris as he probed and assessed the damage to the shuttle. "Lieutenant Matrix, sir. I suggest we start preparing the destruction of the ship's critical systems." "Just a few moments...almost have the necessary access..." replied Matrix in a huff. The display screen was visibly cracked, making the image akin to looking through an ice cube. As the image waved and jumped on the screen Matrix struggled to read the output from his commands. His memory of these systems was rusty. ~The bypass conduit to the input feed manifold...injectors closed and locked...initiate feedback input...four minutes...engage!~ "Okay everyone out...out! Four minutes, clear the area!" shouted Matrix. Matrix is going to destroy it and there's no reason they should die in the effort." Kimiko scanned that newcomer that was being addressed by Rosenbauer and found no serious internal injuries, the doctor nodded to Mike. and stated "The first man that I shot, seemed to be in constant communication with someone, So I think that may close our window a bit." (Reply Rosenbauer) "If you could ask Dr Lopez to check on our 'friends' to insure that none of them are in distress, when he gets a moment, I would be grateful; Oh, and by the by, it appeared that one of the men was going to throw something at us, you may want to check it out, might prove useful." (Reply Rosenbauer) She shrugged and turned back to wounded man, as she scanned the man, she asked "So what's your name?" (Reply Rabhartaigh) As she prepped a hypo, she said "No, nothing permanent, just very uncomfortable." The doctor pressed hypo to the man's arm. The pinpricks of pain behind them suggested that she had been drugged, while the throbbing pain behind her right ear reminded her that she had been struck hard during the boarding action on the Bohrs. "Unnnggg" She moaned as she tried to bring herself into a sitting position, although the effort left her nauseous and made the throbbing headache of hers worse by a factor of ten. "Be still." A woman's voice called to her. "You've got a concussion." It took Erla a few minutes to identify the voice of the Ship's Chief medical officer Andrea Solabee. "How...How long?" She said once her equilibrium had steadied. "six, seven days maybe." Solabee answered. "You took quite a rap on the noggin." "Where?" Erla started to ask and then forced her self to swallow. The back of her tongue had suddenly gone bone dry. "Irlix I think." Andrea said, as she moved somewhere in the murky darkness of the room. "Some sort of facility. They've been interrogating us, since they brought us here." Andrea's left hand landed on Erla's right shoulder and made it's way down her arm to her hand. There a cold vessel of some sort was pressed into her weak grip. "Water." Andrea stated clearly. "Why is it so dark in here?" Erla asked as she lifted the cool Plexiglas container to her lips and greedily gulped down the water. "It's not dark." Andrea stated gravely. "You were hit hard, there's swelling, some pressure pushing against your Optical cortex. I think." "I'm blind?!" Erla asked in surprise. "Not permanently." The Medical officer replied. "The swelling seems to be decreasing. Your eyesight should start to come back as it continues to decline. You're lucky you're still alive." Erla nodded, and then immediately regretted it. Her sense of balance whirled wildly and she nearly vomited. "Easy now, slow movements, you're not recovered yet." "'Kay" the Engineer replied, "The others?" There was a sense of worry in her voice as the Medical officer responded. "Don't know. They took the captain away yesterday, she hasn't come back. The others I haven't seen or heard since we arrived here. I don't even know if they're alive." Erla sighed and tried to will her swollen and throbbing head to function with some semblance of reason. "Any idea what they want?" she finally asked. "They want technology maybe or information. Maybe they want to put us all on trial like some freak show displays." There was a puff of air- obviously one of frustration, "How should I know? They haven't even said anything to me at all since I arrived, not that I would understand that language of theirs anyway." It was apparent to Erla that Andrea was upset and uncomfortable. The Engineer recognized the mirroring of her own emotions well enough although she was powerless to do anything about their situation at present. It shifted back into the core of his being and rested itself behind his left eye, the one that was swollen shut and bleeding. "The security codes for your ship's central computer ensign." The Irlixian male standing before him barked once again. "Give me the security codes." Hevax hung suspended from two metal bars which in turn were suspended from the ceiling. His arms were stretched out to their limit and the joints ached with a fire that could have rivaled the hottest of volcanoes on any number of worlds. He had long ago lost enough strength to try to keep himself upright. The beatings were taking a lot out of him and his one good eye, his right, could see the deeper blue bruises on his shoulders and chest. "Kiss my..." Hevax didn't get to finish his insult as the leather wrapped weighted sap, slammed into the soft underside of his outstretched left arm. The muscles there protested terribly and spasmed as the knot welled up in the already strained arm. "It's a simple matter Novees." The man stated as he walked around the suspended Andorian Tactical Officer. "All you have to do is give us the codes, and you don't have to suffer any longer. You'll get something to eat, you can shower and you'll be returned to your shipmates. You're not accomplishing anything but making me angry and causing you pain. Eventually we'll be able to gain access to your computer anyway, and then all of this..." Sevrith gestured at the body of the injured prisoner, "Will have been a wasted effort. No one will know you gave us the information, so there's no worry of feeling as if you've betrayed anyone." The Andorian forced his head to lift, forced the tired and kinked muscles in his neck to hold his head up enough to get a good look at the sadistic Irlixian officer tormenting him. "On my clan's honor, I'll see you dead." he spit out even as blue blood dripped from the corners of his lips. Sevrith smiled then. The Irlixian stepped forward and grasped the Andorian's bruised jaw in his left hand. He squeezed until the blue skinned alien groaned in pain. "I think not Alien. I do the killing around here, not you." He released the alien, smiled and then punched him in the face, twice. A new split dripped blue blood from his lip and another deep blue-purple bruise was forming under his right eye. "Now again..." Sevrith began, "What are the codes to your ship's computer?"
