Ben said. "I regret putting you in this position and I thank you for allowing her to stay aboard. We have been discussing marriage for a while now, pros and cons and how it may change our lives. Marah has also mentioned a desire for children, I find myself considering that very strongly. Family is very important to me and I'd hate to lose anyone I consider family." Ben paused for moment, a smile creeping onto his face. "We were officially going to announce our engagement at the dance." Ben continued. "I guess now's as good a time as any, I'll speak with Marah after my shift is over to work out a date." "Very good mister Soma. I'm glad to hear it." Ahmed replied. "Thank you Captain." Ben replied. "If there's nothing further I have some arrangements to see to." "Of course Lieutenant, you are dismissed." (reply none needed) Daniel Greene ------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Ready Room - CO, Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid, Day 1 - 0814) "I have been observing Ensign Signos since our encounter with the Borg." Sanok began, and already Ahmed didn't like where the lieutenant was likely to be headed with his coming words. "Her skills and abilities go beyond what is typical for a Starfleet Sec/Tac officer. Normally, this would not be anything unusual, as there are advanced courses and duties in Starfleet one could join. However, there is more to her than this. When in a combat situation, she changes. Something inside her snaps. It is as though another person takes control and works through her. I have found that when in this state, she not only relishes combat, she seems to need to cause as much damage, harm, and suffering as she can. She becomes brutal. Using her walking sticks that had blades hidden in them, I watched her slash and hack Asrai Banes far beyond what was necessary. The fact that she carried such a weapon in the first place, is cause for great concern. In Starfleet, we carry phasers. We do not use tactical circlets, subspace sniper rifles, or hidden blades. We do what we can to eliminate an adversary, preferably by stunning and not killing, and certainly without barbarity." Sanok paused. The room was eerily silent for a moment, "Go on." Ahmed prompted. "As Chief of Security, it is my responsibility to protect the ship and the crew. To do that, I must be aware of anyone, or anything, that is a threat. I must also report any such threats I see. Captain, I feel Ensign Signos is a danger to us. I do not trust her, and dare not turn my back on her. I must ask that you put her off the ship, and have her confined in a maximum security facility until whatever is happening to her is discovered and corrected." Ahmed thought about the request for a few moments. Given the limited information that Sanok had, his suggestion was not unreasonable. It was neither malicious or posed out of some personal vendetta or dislike. It was a fair assessment made by a man who did not have full access to the entire story. "Alright Sanok." Ahmed began, "I can see that you've given this a great deal of thought. And while I agree with your assessment in some regards, I also realize that there are some aspects of the situation of which you are ignorant." (reply Sanok iyw) "What do you know of Section 31?" (reply Sanok) "You are correct, although it has recently come to light beyond a shadow of a doubt that section 31 has not ceased to be, but that instead, they have slipped further underground. While their intentions may be to safeguard the federation, we have seen evidence that they have acted in manners in opposition of the morals and laws of the very federation that they claim to support. Among them, we see their assisting Admiral Doenitz in his usurpation of the Presidency. We see them aiding Admiral Heatherby in his failed coup. And more recently it has come to light that they have been building up resources and personnel to enact some even greater operation." "Among the operations that they have been engaged in is the mental brainwashing and development of multiple personality operatives. Through intense telepathic and psychological conditioning, they have developed a means to integrate two distinct personalities into the same mind." "The operation begins with the abduction of the subject and the subsequent assassination of the subjects family, at a very early age. Years of telepathic and behavioral conditioning, as well as advanced physical training are forced upon the subject for a considerable number of years." "Continuous propaganda shapes the ideology of the alternate personality, and a somewhat detached emotional conditioning prevents the development of a conscience. The subject becomes a perfect, apathetic, and highly effective assassin." "During the Borg encounter, something happened to Signos, that caused her alternate personality, codenamed Lily, to emerge against the normal programmed conditions. It was then that she first became aware of a limited aspect of the conditioning. She brought the situation to me while we were in space dock at Geneva, undergoing repairs." Ahmed paused for a moment. "I took the situation to Starfleet Intelligence, who was somewhat aware of the existence of section 31 having infiltrated their organization. Their indiscrete handling of the situation caused a section 31 operations cell on Geneva Station to become active, and they kidnapped Signos." "SFI was monitoring her condition and location, and we were hedged out of the operation. She was being tortured Sanok. They were taking her apart psychologically and physically. Trying to figure out what had gone wrong just as much as they were trying to determine the extent of their security breach." "Despite my concerns and my requests to recover Signos and capture the section 31 operatives working on the station, SFI was willing to sacrifice her for little to no gain. I could not sit by and let that happen." "Against orders, I put into play a rescue operation. We recovered Signos, and eventually managed to neutralize and capture the S31 cell operating on Geneva Station." "Counselor Davis is working with signos to aid her in suppressing Lily. She is also on a pharmacological schedule to aid her in that task as well. If I let SFI take her, they are not going to place her in a secured facility under observation. They are going to take her apart bit-by-bit. They're going to eke out every secret that Lily knows about Section 31, despite the cost to Signos." "Signos is a victim here. She is not responsible for the acts that she committed under the auspices of her alternate personality. She did not volunteer for the job, nor does she have a ideological belief in section 31's agenda." "Section 31 is determined to eliminate anyone who knows about this. In fact they have already tried to kill me once. That's why I have Mike as my personal Yeoman, rather than an operations non-comm. I did not inform you of the situation for two reasons. First, the knowledge is classified so high, that I've probably just broken a million laws giving you the information I have just provided. Secondly, I was trying to protect you. Your lack of information on the subject was a shield. A means to prevent Section 31 from considering you as a target." (reply Sanok) "As you asked me directly, and I respect your role on the ship as well as the personal respect I have for you, I've given you a straight answer. Watch Signos, be suspicious, but help her if you can. She's working hard to put the past atrocities that Lily performed behind her. She can not and will not be held accountable for something that she had no free choice in." "And…" Ahmed paused for a moment. "I won't send her off ship where either section 31 or Star Fleet Intelligence can dissect her like an animal. She's a member of my crew, and I took an oath to protect my crew wherever and however I can. In this case, I'm shielding her to the best of my ability, and I ask you to help me in that task. But if you cannot or will not aid me there I understand." (reply Sanok) Daniel Greene ------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Ready Room, Lt. Sanok, Day 1, 0816) Salid said, "Alright, Sanok. I can see that you've given this a great deal of thought, and while I agree with your assessment, in some regards, I also realize that there are some aspects of the situation of which you are ignorant." "I presumed as much, Captain," said Sanok. "I was hoping you would tell me." "What do you know of Section 31?" said Salid. "I know what they are and that they believe what they are doing is best for the Federation, but it is said they are no longer functioning as a group," said Sanok. "I have my doubts about that, sir." "You are correct, although it has recently come to light beyond a shadow of a doubt that section 31 has not ceased to be, but that instead, they have slipped further underground." Salid went on to explain in detail, what Section 31 does to create sleeper agents, and that Ensign Signos was one of those agents. Though Sanok did not know prior to this the depth to which S31 went, he did suspect to some extent, that Signos was some sort of conditioned creation. "During the Borg encounter, something happened to Signos that caused her alternate personality, codenamed Lily, to emerge against the normal programmed conditions. It was then that she first became aware of a limited aspect of the conditioning. She brought the situation to me while we were in space dock at Geneva, undergoing repairs." Salid continued, telling about going to Starfleet Intelligence, and what they wanted to do with Signos. It was nearly as bad as what S 31 did to her, and he understood why Salid went against what they said. Those in command looked out for those over whom they commanded. Sanok agreed that Signos was a victim. Though she had people watching over her that were trying to help, Sanok had his doubts. He saw firsthand what she could do if she lost control, and it didn't take much to lose that control. He would help, as the captain had asked, but there was something he had to make very clear first. "Captain, thank you for telling me the entire story, though I wish you would have done so earlier. I know Section 31 is ruthless, and that they have vast resources, but I am prepared to stand against them. "I will do what I can to help you help Ensign Signos. I respect that you are doing this, and at great risk to yourself and to your career. I would ask that Lieutenant Soma also be informed. He is her immediate superior in the Tactical department, and he would be a great asset in this endeavor. "I will help, sir, but I must tell you this. If, in the performance of my duties, I feel Ensign Signos is going to do anything to harm anyone on this ship, or put the Rosenante in danger, I will do whatever it takes to stop her." Sanok paused for a second. Normally, the expression on a Vulcan's face was passive. However, his was now stern, and most serious. "Whatever it takes." (reply Salid) (posted by Bob B.) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Ready Room - CO, Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid, Day 1 - 0845) The door to the ready room chimed again for about the one-hundredth time that morning. Despite the main body of the mission being complete, there was still a lot of follow-up work being performed. Ahmed didn't bother to look up as the door slid open to admit the officer requesting an audience. He instead was finishing the last of a report to Starfleet command. "Come in. I'll be with you in a moment." he said as he affixed his signature, authorization codes and biometric print to the report. Now finished, he looked up at lieutenant Fraiser. "Sir, may I have a moment?" she asked. "Yes Lieutenant you may. I was planning on speaking to you today, concerning the events that took place on the away team, but we'll start with what you need. What I can I do for you?" he asked as he gestured to a seat opposite him. (reply Fraiser) Daniel Greene -------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Brig- ASEC Ensign Marta Nunez, Day 1 - 0904) Marta was overseeing the installation of upgraded field emitters in the brig which had taken up more of her time than she liked. She was watching as the officers were going about their work and how they were just about finished. "Lieutenant Nunez? Lieutenant Fraiser." A voice sounded behind her and Marta turned to see the dark-haired woman standing there with her hand extended in greeting. Marta shook her hand, although she did so reluctantly. She had a very real aversion to touching empaths. It was something she hatred to avoid ever since she had been nearly mentally hijacked by a very immoral telepath. Needless to say the shake was short and very pointedly brief. "What can I help you with Lieutenant?" she asked. "I plan on going to meet with the Asrai Chief medical officer to discuss how we can help them move forward. I would like to borrow one of your officers to accompany me if that's alright?" Marta raised an eyebrow, but them allowed herself to smile. "You know I wouldn't mind taking a trip to the surface. I haven't been off ship for a while. So if that's alright with you, I'd like to tag along, rather than assign someone." "Thank you. I need to collect some things from sickbay, but I plan to leave in half an hour." Marta nodded. "Okay, I should be done here in plenty of time. Why don't I meet you in transporter room one in about 30-minutes?" (reply Fraiser) Daniel Greene ------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Brig- ACMO Lieutenant Jg Tayla Fraiser, Day 1 - 0906.5) "Okay, I should be done here in plenty of time. Why don't I meet you in transporter room one in about 30-minutes?" Smiling, she replied, “That would be perfect. See you shortly.” (USS Rosentante – Counselor's office – Lt JG Tayla Fraiser – 0915) Walking into the office, Tayla smiled at Parker and said, “I know, twice in one morning. Someone is a lucky boy.” (Reply Davis) She winked and said, “I'm heading to the surface. Want me to keep an eye on anything down there?” (Reply Davis) She held up her hand and said, “Parker, Ensign Nunez is coming with me so I am not going alone. Believe me, I intend to follow regs on this one. Last thing I need Is Salid finding out I went alone. He's mad enough as it is without that as well.” (Reply Davis) She nodded and turned to leave. Stopping at the door, she turned back to face him and said, “I am truly sorry for everything. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me.” And she left. (USS Rosentante – Transporter room 1 – Lt JG Tayla Fraiser – 0921.5) Tayla walked into the transporter room to find Ensign Nunez waiting for her. Smiling, she said, “Ready for a field trip?” (Reply Nunez) Standing on the transporter pad, Tayla looked at the crewman manning the transporter and said, “Energise.” (Reply Nunez, Davis, Any) (Posted by Jackie Smith) (USS Rosenante – Bridge – QM/Strat Ops – LT Chance Raschen -0908) “Well Mister Raschen, I’ve worked with a few Irregulars in my time. Like any other organization, it has it’s good apples and it’s bad. However, I’ve found that with the majority of them, they know how to get the job done, sometimes at any cost. I am also familiar with those same conflicts, intimately.” As they entered the Bridge, making a beeline for the Ready Room “I lead the IFF portion of the assault on Echo-Bravo 454 and 329. I also took the lead in repelling a Cardassian siege of a Marine base.” Chance said as they arrived to their destination. “We sure as hell chewed some of the same dirt, Mister Raschen.” He admitted. “I’m glad you decided to continue to serve. The Fleet needs people like you.” Smith admitted. Nodding his head at the Colonel and looking the man in the eye “Well sir, when you and the Captain are done, I will escort you to your quarters. By then the Corporal will be taken care of.” (Reply Smith iyw, but not needed) (Reply Smith iyw, but not needed) (Posted by Charlie R.) ------------------------- (USS Rosentante – Counselor's office – COUNS Parker Davis - Day 1 - 0918) Tayla walked in without knocking and Parker's head rose immediately. He grinned. She smiled back. “I know, twice in one morning. Someone is a lucky boy.” He put down his PADD and folded his arms on his desk. "So what have I done to deserve a second visit?" He asked, still smiling. "And will it lead to a third?" She winked and said, “I'm heading to the surface. Want me to keep an eye on anything down there?” His smile dropped. "Tayla...I don't think that's a good idea," he said seriously. He opened his mouth to speak again, but she interrupted, holding up her hand. “Parker, Ensign Nunez is coming with me so I am not going alone. Believe me, I intend to follow regs on this one. Last thing I need Is Salid finding out I went alone. He's mad enough as it is without that as well.” He paused, considering her words. Their connection, though technically under control, was still fresh in his mind and he felt like when she was near, he could feel her feelings. He felt her embarrassment over the issue, and her guilt for screwing up his first command, whether justified or not. He felt her sincerity. Finally, he nodded and said, "Be careful. If it gets to be too much down there, then come back. I mean it." She nodded and turned to leave. Stopping at the door, she turned back to face him and said, “I am truly sorry for everything. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me.” And she left. He stared after her for a moment, and then exhaled. ~Focus, Davis, focus. Counseling reports...~ He got back to work. (reply none) (posted by Morgan G) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Main Security Office, Lt. Sanok, Day 1, 0919) After speaking with the captain about Signos, Sanok went immediately to his office in the main security section. Though it would be extremely difficult, he was going to try to find all the information possible about the S31 agent named Lily. He also realized, that once he did, S31 would know he knew, and he would then be on their list of enemies. Sanok did not care that he was making himself a target. Part of the oath he took as a Starfleet officer, was to defend the Federation and Starfleet, from all enemies. S31, though their intentions may once have actually been noble, they were now a criminal, terrorist organization. He had no problems doing what he could to eliminate them. While beginning his search, Sanok considered the Vulcan axiom about the needs of the many, outweighing the needs of the few. Though he knew what was done to Signos and her family was evil, there was still the fact, that if she were turned over to SFI, information on stopping S31 would be gained. How many lives would be saved in the future, by sacrificing one life now? As Starfleet officers, they were prepared to sacrifice themselves to save others. Would Signos be willing to make that sacrifice? Would she be willing to let herself be given to SFI, if it meant saving many others from the same horror S31 did to her and her family? Was she even given the choice? Sanok respected Captain Salid. He gave his word to help Signos, and he would. However, if the decision were his, he would have let SFI take her. =^=Sanok, this is Raschen. I need a favor.=^= "Sanok here. Go ahead, Lieutenant." Sanok wanted to be undisturbed while he researched Lily. =^="Are any of the quarters next mine still have the equipment in place for round-the-clock surveillance of the occupants?=^= Sanok paused for a beat before responding. "Stand by." He accessed the information on his computer. "One cabin next to yours is still equipped. Why do you need this information?" What was Raschen up to now? (reply Raschen) (posted by Bob B.) -------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Starboard Phaser Charging Unit - ACEO Lt. Eian O'Neill - Day 1 - 0920) Eian was helping a young crewman with his first battery exchange. The seventeen-year-old showed a lot of promise, but he had almost no idea what he was doing. "Then ease the battery out slowly, being careful not to dent it on the way out. There you go...perfect. Disconnect the gel-pack connection." "Uh..." his hand hovered over the three tubules coming out of the small unit. "The gel-pack connection's the...*blue* one, right, Sir?" "Very good, crewman. Good memory." =^= Matrix to O'Neill and Cohen. Please report to engineering by 1300. I have a special project I need your help with. =^= Eian tapped his combadge. "Aye, Sir, I'll be right there." He turned to the crewman. "To install the new one, just hook up the gel-pack connection, and when you see the blue fluid, then you should look at your old battery and see that the other two tubules are clear. You can then disconnect them, reconnect them to the new battery, and insert the battery just as you took this one out--carefully. When you're finished, seal it up and write it up in your task log." He paused. "O'Neill to Ensign Jacobs." =^=Jacobs here, Sir.=^= "Please come to the Starboard Phaser Charging Unit and help Mr. Tiller complete a battery exchange." =^=On my way, Sir.=^= Eian turned to his crewman. "Don't do anything until Jacobs gets here to supervise." He patted the man on the back and said, "Good work." "Thank you, Sir," Tiller told him as he left. (USS Rosenante - Main Engineering - ACEO Lt Eian O'Neill - Day 1 - 0923) He entered main engineering and approached Matrix, who was near the center working table. "Sir, what can I do for you?" Go ahead, Lieutenant. =^= "Are any of the quarters next mine still have the equipment in place for round-the-clock surveillance of the occupants?” Chance could tell from the pause that the Chief of Security was uncertain of something. The Quarter Master had that effect on more than a few Vulcans. =^=Stand by. One cabin next to yours is still equipped. Why do you need this information? =^= “Great. I appreciate the assistance.” (Reply Sanok iyw) After the connection was broken, Raschen turned and looked at the door of the Ready Room. As if expecting the Marine to come walking out at that moment. He then took a quick moment to send the skipper a quick text message to his desk which read “I will personally escort the colonel to his quarters and then report to with my assesment of the man.” (Reply Salid iyw) (Reply Sanok iyw, Salid iyw) (Posted by Charlie) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Main Security Office, Lt. Something just wasn’t right because he was under the impression that the XO of the Adjutant General Marine Command was a Lieutenant Colonel. Oh well, wasn’t the first time Chance had ever been wrong; doubtful it will be the last. “Sanok, First off he is a full Colonel. Sorry about that, it was my mistake. And second, I don’t want that equipment turned on. Just simply already in place just incase the Captain wants it enabled. I don’t have any proof; I simply have a hunch that he is here for some reason other than an inspection of our administrative workings. In any case, thank you again for the information. That was all I really needed.” Raschen explained as he filled out the necessary documentation for Colonel Henry Smith to be Chance’s new temporary neighbor onboard the Rosenante. (reply Sanok iyw) As he stood up straight with a smirk on his face ~I wonder if ‘Harry’ is a drinker~ he thought as he faced the door to the Ready Room ready to escort the colonel to his quarters, and hopefully get something out of him to report to the skipper. 0reply Sanok iyw) (posted by Charlie R.) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Main Engineering - CEO LCDR Steven Matrix - Day 1 - 0925) "I'd like to see if we can't get this to span across the two center pylons. The lighting will have to include all sections and be synchronized to work as directed." said Matrix. "Sir, the pylons will be in the way of the stage and I don't think we can get away with removing them and use the expanded holodeck. The lighting won't be a problem, just the obstruction as I see it." said the crewman. "No, no I wouldn't advice removing the pylons either, but what if we devised a holo-program to hide the pylon and make the whole area look unobstructed?" asked Matrix. Matrix looked up to see O'Neill enter engineering. Matrix smiled and paused the conversation with the raise of his hand. "Aye Mister O'Neill." said Matrix. "Sir, what can I do for you?" said O'Neill. Matrix turned his attention to the crewman standing next to him. "Thank you crewman, please see to it. Replicate the materials for the center stage and coordinate the construction with Lieutenant Cohen." said Matrix as he handed the crewman a PADD. "Apologies everyone. Lets get Lieutenant O'Neill up to speed on where we are on the construction of the event forum for the Captain." said Matrix. (Reply O'Neill, IYW) "Lieutenant as you likely know the Captain would like engineering to construct the forum where this celebration and event will take place. We're tasked with a vague set of requirements, but the expectations of our efforts are…well likely to be scrutinized for years to come if we don't pull this off." said Matrix. Matrix punched up the drawings on the main screen from the PADD the Captain provided. "As you can see the Captain has some specific requirements for the formal banquet room and I suggested we use holodecks 1 and 2, but the main support pylons literally split the center podium area in half. Our problem is with the podium. In order to maximize the room the podium cannot be moved as to provide the remainder of the room to the guests, holog-band and other virtual servants and amenities." continued Matrix. (Reply O'Neill) "What I would like is your input on the problem with fitting all of the Captain's requirements. Short of moving this into a cargo bay what do you think?" asked Matrix. (Reply O'Neill) "Perhaps some time with the schematics would help? I don't want to put you on the spot without having the benefit of some time to look over the requirements and the space limitations we have. Keep in mind we'll need a significant amount of holo-imagry to pull this off. The holodecks already have the support matrix in place including power and emitters so the notion of moving this to a larger cargo bay amplifies the work involved just to get the supporting holo-structures in place." continued Matrix. (Reply O'Neill) (Posted by Steve) -------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Ready Room - CO, Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid, Day 1 - 1332) Ahmed was once again engrossed with overlooking technology and knowledge requests made by the Asrai when his door chime sounded. True to form the door immediately slid open as he looked up. Standing in the doorway was Lieutenant Davis. "Sir, do you have a few moments?" he asked. Ahmed nodded as he placed his PADD on the desk before him. His eyes needed a break from the near constant reports anyway. "Yes of course, come in Counselor." He replied as he turned his complete attention to the man visiting him. he gestured to the seat opposite his desk. The counselor took a seat and immediately launched into the purpose of his visit. "I came here to apologize, Sir, and to admit that I've kept something from you. Lt. Fraiser and I are in a relationship. We have been since before the mission. It's recently come to my attention that we were empathically bonded and as such, my judgment was impaired. For some reason, I didn't bring our relationship to your attention before the mission. It was foolish of me to fail to notice that something was off. It put everyone on the away mission in direct danger, and it inhibited my ability to be an effective leader. I know this to be the case because after Lt. Fraiser was rescued, I noticed a difference immediately in my ability to command. Since the mission Lt. Fraiser and I have controlled the empathic bond and this shouldn't happen again. But I'm fully willing to accept whatever punishment you feel is necessary, Sir." "I see." Ahmed replied. He took a lungful of air, held it for a moment and then let it out slowly. "Counselor, to say I'm a not disappointed would be a falsehood. I am very disappointed. I would have thought that of all the officers on this ship, you, the counselor, would understand how the dynamics of a relationship, empathic or otherwise can affect the ability to command and to make objective decisions. It's not only something that they teach you in command school. It's required coursework for counselors as well, so that they can recognize if senior officers of a ship are being less than objective in their decisions." "Your choice not to make this information known to me prior to the mission's operational start, jeopardized the mission. A mission which, I must point out, could have resulted in the complete annihilation of an entire species." "If I had known, there would have been an adjustment made to the command structure of the away team and the roles that were assigned, which probably exasperated the situation." "I want you to understand that the issue here is not that you are in a relationship with another member of the crew, but that you failed to disclose to me a situation, in confidence, that could and did have consequences for the success of the mission." "As for punishment, I have already decided upon one." He paused to let those words sink in. "Despite your performance under extreme duress, I have decided to not recommend you for a commendation or promotion for the time being. Your inability to disclose critical information, became a mission liability. I will be placing a short term letter of disposition in your file and a similar letter in Lieutenant Fraiser's file. That letter will stay there until I feel that you have both matured significantly to warrant an opportunity to advance in Rank or position within the fleet." "If you feel that this is unfair, I welcome you to request a formal inquiry, but I recommend against such an action. You're a good officer Mister Davis. You have suffered from a lapse of judgment, and its something that you can learn from and grow from as a result. If you show me that you can do so, you'll find this will become nothing more than a distant memory. but if you can not, I will not risk your advancing into a position within the fleet that will ever give you the opportunity to jeopardize lives like this again. Am I clear?" (reply Davis) Daniel Greene ------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Captain's Ready Room - COUNS Parker Davis - Day 1 - 1340) Parker listened as the Captain explained to him what he already knew, and then told him what his punishment was. As he suspected, he wouldn't be able to advance up the command chain until he proved to the Captain that he wouldn't have a lapse in judgment like this again. He nodded, and stated, "I understand, Sir, and I think it's very fair." (reply Salid iyw) He paused a moment, debating whether he should share with Salid exactly how he felt about this. How his stomach churned at being in this position, how losing the trust of those superior to him truly hurt. Remembering their first counseling session, he recalled that the Captain was a very introspective man, someone who might just be able to grasp what position Parker was in, and understand why he would do everything he could to get out of it. "Sir," he began, and looked down in shame for a moment before he met Salid's eyes again, "I'm sure you know this about me because you've undoubtedly read my file. But...when I've lost your trust, I've moved into a position I absolutely detest. I spent two years in a place where I had lost the trust of everyone around me, and it took years after that to regain it. The boy I was then would have tried to defend myself and explain to you that I wasn't in control of my actions. But I know that to be false--I know that I've been trained to notice the subtleties of the kind of control an empathic bond can have over a non-telepathic mind, and that I didn't notice speaks to how distracted I was. I recognize that's contrary to what Starfleet stands for--it isn't my job as an officer to be distracted with my own personal life, it's my job to be engaged in the mission and aware of what's going on around me. I'm telling you this to communicate to you exactly how hard I will work to regain your trust. I won't disappoint you, Sir. I'm not promising...I'm telling you...because of who I am, and where I've been, I know that I'm not capable of staying in this position for long. I'll either regain your trust, Sir, or I'll resign my commission in Starfleet." The Captain had given him a great deal to think about, planning for the party, becoming the new second officer and Marah. He stepped into the cabin and heard Marah call out. "Is that you Ben." She inquired. "It's me hun." He replied. "I have some news for you." Marah came out of the bedroom, crossed the main area giving Ben a hug and kiss. "Captain Salid wants me to help set things up for the party." Ben said. "What have you done so far?" She asked as she turned to pick a couple padds off the table. "I sent a message to Asrai extending an invitation to them, I've sent a message to everyone on the ship stating they have to attend for a minimum of two hours." He started. "You make it sound like punishment by saying they have to attend for two hours." Marah joked. "The Captain wanted to ensure everyone had a chance to unwind a little and mingle with the rest of the crew in social setting." Ben replied. "And I told him we were getting married and we'd talk about setting a date." "Did you ask him to marry us?" She asked. "I didn't." Ben responded. "We still have some time for that, I'd like to have a few things worked out before I ask him." "That's so you." She teased. "Got to have everything proper first." "You know me." Ben joked. "I'll get you something to eat." Marah said as she moved towards the kitchen. "We still have to tell your parents." "I have a couple things to do first and then I'll send them a message." Ben replied. He still had to see Chance about setting up the bar. He tapped his combadge. "Soma to Raschen." He said. (reply Raschen) "Can you meet me in the Trade Winds in half an hour." There was something about him that made the former privateer uneasy. So Chance kind of took it upon himself to get to know him after giving the skipper his initial assesment. So Raschen, being his temporary neighbor, decided to invite him to lunch. Raschen made sure he grabbed a bottle of his mom’s home brewed scotch whiskey. The cork hadnt been pulled, and Chance was seriously needing a drink. He always did when talking about the past. It had been well over an hour since the two started trading war stories about their time in the Second Federation-Cardassian War, the Federation Civil War, and various skermishes in between. They had a few people gathered around them, so he guessed they were trading war stories. He continued across and when he was close enough he made his presence know. "Colonel, Lieutenant." He said. "Mind if I join you?" (reply Raschen, Smith) Ben found a chair and pulled it over to the table to join the crowd. "The Captain wants to set a bar up for the Cotillion." Ben said. "He wants to serve real alcohol for the occasion and I think your the man who can help me do just that." Ben passed a padd along to Chance, it contained a basic plan for the bar and a short list of beverages. "You can see the rough sketch," Ben said. "sadly I'm not an architect so I'm hoping you can improve the design. First Engineer Limba has agreed to supply us with Asrai beverages, they have a couple different grain alcohols. (Reply: Any) (Posted by: Charlie R.) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Signos' Quarters - ACEO Lt Eian O'Neill and Ensign SG Jessica Signos - Day 2 - 2130) Eian took a deep breath and walked steadily to Jessica's quarters. He had just spoken with his dad about this issue. His dad's opinion was always clear in his mind--there was never any doubt, he wanted Eian and Jessica apart but was willing to support his son in whatever he decided. But Eian had reached his breaking point. Seeing what Jessica did to those Bane, how brutal she was as she indiscriminately slashed and nearly murdered them, when they may not have even been in control of their actions...it sickened him. And she certainly wasn't someone he wanted to be together with. Besides that, Eian wasn't sure where he stood romantically. His body was so different. It was hard to feel connected, and it was even harder to become connected to someone else's body, when half of your own wasn't even yours. There wasn't a piece of him that was untouched by the Borg. He rang Jessica's door chime and awaited the answer. Jessica wasn't expecting to see anyone, she was working on a project; the same one that had caused her to bandage her fingers several times whenever she sat to work on it. ~ I wonder who it could be. ~ She stood, covered what she was working on and made her way to the door. She watched as the door slid away to allow Eian entrance. Jessica was surprised to see him and just the sight of him made her smile. Their relationship was an uncertainty in both of their lives and Jessica knew there was good deal that Eian was uncomfortable with. But no matter what bad things may be she still wanted to stay by his side and support him through the uncertainty. "Hey, Jessica," Eian greeted her. "Can we talk for a bit? Is this a good time?" "Sure." She moved from the door making way for Eian to enter. She watched him enter, the last couple of times Eian came to her room it had ended with a fight. Jessica wanted nothing to do with another one of those fall outs. She hoped this time would be better. She watched Eian settle in, before asking. "What's on your mind?" "I...Jessica, this is hard for me to say. But I'm not going to beat around the bush. I don't think this relationship is working out. I think it's in both of our interests to end it." "It didn't seem that hard." Jessica replied sharply, "But you may be right. I don't see any reason to stay with someone who can't love me for me. Who expects me to become someone I'm not. Someone who can not return the unconditional love I respectfully show him." Eian frowned. ~This is not going the way I imagined.~ "Jessica, I never said that I didn't love you." He paused. "I do love you. But I can't be with you when you're still..." He lowered his head. "You told me that you had Lily under control. But what I saw during our mission makes me seriously think that you were lying to me. Lily is still a big part of you, and if you ever lost control..." He shook his head and looked her in the eye. "I don't know how you can even trust yourself. I honestly don't know how you do it." She looked at the ground not looking Eian in the eyes. His words stung her. "I do it because I have to, just like I have to believe in you. You think that you're the only one that hurts here, that has something to fear. You may not remember but every time I look at you, at what was left..." She let her voice trail a bit. "I have to remind myself that you're not the Borg that tried to assimilate me into your Collective." She looked at him. "I don't mention such things much because I know how you're still recovering and how much it still hurts. But that's just it: we both have had a darker nature forced upon us. How long were you a part of the Collective, and you're still recovering? Now look at me; how long have I been forced to bear Lily's actions and personality? Then ask yourself--are your expectations really fair? Eian didn't realize the changes to his body, what he went through, still bothered her. And he did remember now. He remembered everything, and still had nightmares about how he tried to assimilate her. How Ben's voice had harshly threatened his life as he was tied up and led away to be experimented on. He looked at her with an injured expression and said, "I'm not living connected to the Collective, Jessica." He pointed at her skull and said, "Lily's still in there. I may still have Borg parts," he said, knowing as he said it that he frequently had 'peeks' into the Collective knowledge that was downloaded into his brain, "but I'm in full control of my mind. Lily still controls yours! Even though you told me she didn't. And frankly, I resent the comparison! " his voice was getting louder and more agitated. "And if you were part of the Collective as long as Lily has been inside me, would the Collective no longer have control of your mind? As I said, I'm in control of Lily but it is a give and take. Yes, what happened to the Bane was brutal but he lived I saw to that at least. A quarter of a turn, Eian, and Lily would have killed him. Didn't you realize I did all I could to avoid a fight while we were on Asrai Prime? You may resent the comparison, but that's only because you know I'm right and you hate the fact that you could have been turned into something equally as deadly as Lily." Her voice raised to meet Eian's but she showed the control of not going any louder. "Only thing you lacked was time, time I made sure you didn't have. Because I learned of Lily when I learned what I was capable of. I knew that no matter what they might do to you that you would have rather died than to live that life." Her voice grew soft, as she repeated the phase. "The only thing you lacked was time." Jessica truly cared for Eian; his pain, his suffering, and she let it show though her voice. "I know what you're going though is hard. I know your nights are filled with terrible dreams, I know you fear getting close to anyone, and I know that there are times that all you want to do is break down and cry. Don't you understand the reason I know these things is because I feel the same way? Don't you know that there are some nights that all I can think about is that you need some to cry with?" "Jessica, I get what you're saying, and I agree!" He said, his voice still raised but not increasing in volume. "But you're missing a major component. You may be in the same situation I was in at one point, but I'm not in that situation anymore! I'm not a Borg. I'm a human being!" He said, holding his voice steady even though this subject made his artificial heart pound and his biological hand shake. He had about half of his body replaced...but he was still human. He was still fully in control. "They're never going to access my brain and force me to kill or injure anyone...there will never be a time when it's all I can do to barely let someone survive." He hated to say it, but he had to get to the crux of the issue. "It doesn't matter how much in common we've been through. You're dangerous. And until that changes, I can't be with you. No matter how much I wish it weren't the case." "Then you don't love me," Jessica replied her voice cold as ice. "remember Lily was there when we first met. We may not of known it but she was. I respected you enough to tell you, I loved you enough to look past your faults, I looked past your need to change me into something you felt presentable. Even after all this I loved you without question, with reciprocation. Fine--use Lily as your meager weak escape, but don't expect me to ever love you the same again." There was the dying of a sparkle in her blue eyes. ~ You were right, he wasn't able to see past... the past.~ Jessica spoke to Lily ~ You tried to tell him it was a give and take, I would have killed the Bane for no better reason than he stood in our way. But you stayed my hand granted him mercy. In ten years of blood that was the first time I have ever granted some one that kindness. If he refuses to see what you are trying to do, to become, then he doesn't deserve you...~ It was a rare moment as Lily spoke to Jessica with a measure of kindness. ~ Maybe this time you're right. ~ Jessica replied. ~ For what it's worth I'm sorry, but I cannot be anything other than who and what I am and you know that. I know I can no longer carry such a sharp violent edge to my life, but I can't become complacent either. ~ Lily's soft words echoed in her mind. ~ So it's either imprisonment on the Rosenante or enslavement to Section 31 or SFI. ~ Jessica spoke to Lily, only to find no response. Lily knew Jessica already knew the answer, and neither wanted to ponder that. Eian shook his head. "No, Jessica...if you can prove to me that you're fully in control, or if you can somehow get rid of Lily, then we can have a relationship." He reached for her hand. "My feelings for you never changed. I don't know how to make you see that. I do love you. But not Lily." She moved her hand keeping it from his reach, she looked deeply into his eyes. "Why must I prove my love? How would you feel if I asked you to do the same?" "I don't doubt you love me!" He exclaimed, completely exasperated. He stood. "I doubt your ability to control Her!" He referred to Lily with disdain. "*She's * the limiting factor here, not you!" "And as long as she's here." She pointed to her skull has Eian had done earlier. "She is a part of me. It's a sad fact I had to come to terms with if I was ever to start healing." She shook her head. "Lily might be part of the problem, but the limiting factor is that you think I can stop or change at a moment's notice what has taken over ten years to condition into me. I'm sorry it's a problem that could take me the rest of my life to fix and even then the chances are slim. I understand you hate Lily, trust me she's created her fair share of problems for me. I never said you have to love Lily. But I do ask that you love me for me, and not some fantasy. I can't be fixed as easily has removing some Borg implants and replacing them with cybernetics or cloned tissue." Jessica's anger raised though out her. "You don't understand that if this is not done carefully, if I try to force Lily out, either Lily or I or both will die!" Jessica unleashed her fury that she had kept calmed throughout the conversation. "Do you want that to happen? Is that it, you want me to prove my love with my death? Because that's what you're asking." Her words hurt him deeply, but he didn't want to hurt her any more than he already had. He turned to leave honorably, not saying another word. She knew the words stung Eian but they need to be said. He needed to understand that Lily was a part of her and a part he would have to live with if they would be together. That's why she broke orders in the first place and told Eian of her. She watched him turn and leave, she knew she had stuck a nerve and Eian had lost his will to continue. The door slide open has a voice came from behind him. "You don't deserve her." It was Jessica's voice but there was a practiced music quality, and coldness that was distinctly not Jessica. " You don't deserve to see the tears she's crying for you now, and you don't deserve to be by her side to comfort her though the bad times. You've sacrificed your love to me, don't worry I'll comfort her, I'll look after her, and I'll continue to love her." The hairs stood up on the back of Eian's neck but he forced himself not to turn around. ~You were right, Dad. I should have nothing to do with her...but I feel so bad for Jessica, trapped in there.~ She was a prisoner just as he had been. It was a tragic reality, but despite her situation, Eian was no longer involved and he felt like a massive burden had been lifted from his shoulders. Lily knew she had said the words that would dig and claw their way into Eian's heart. She could tell by the way he stopped suddenly. So she continued her attack. "If you want me gone so badly all it would of taken was for you to be with her. I have my orders, things that are hard wired into my being that I cannot go against. If you had bothered to think, you may have noticed I have never intervened between you and Jessica. You see your relationship is important to my goals. But since you're not going to be around anymore...." She let the end of her comment hang not finishing it was far more better to let other minds take hold and run away with such tormenting thoughts. Eian closed his eyes, placing one hand on the bulkhead as he turned to face her standing in the doorway. "You're going to do whatever you're going to do," he said sadly. "Jessica is your prisoner either way. What I said still stands. Until she's the one making the calls, until you're completely gone...I can't be with her. I can't be with her even if all you do is watch," he said, disgusted at that idea. "You're an evil person. And if you kill her...I'll make sure everyone knows her story and that it was your fault." It was all he could do, after all. Even though his heart ached for the opportunity to destroy her. Lily laughed at Eian. "You still don't get it. Why should I kill her, It's more fun to watch her..." She paused for a bit then added. " and you suffer. You'll go away, feel like this is no longer your problem but it will still eat at you every moment of every day, how you turned your back on the one you loved. That pain is my passion, that suffering my love, and you let me hand it out in spades." Eian took a deep breath, calming himself. Then he said what he truly felt in his heart. "Go ahead and continue, Lily. We can't stop you anyway. But we'll be together forever in eternity and you...you'll fade away into nothingness. Have a nice, *short* life." With that, he walked away. She politely indicated the way to Matrix's office and then hurried off, once again reading what she had in her hand. Viskhard looked down at his own pair of lists as he moved. The First Scientist and company had finally decided to accept tricorders in order to help Solyon and the Asrai learn more about the planets they lived on. Both were changing rapidly, and the method previously used by the Asrai simply wouldn't cut it. Perhaps you would be best to speak to Parker regarding that since it falls under his jurisdiction too." “True. I have a programme that I like to run but it's nowhere near as opulant as this place. Perhaps you'd like to join me sometime?” She knew that the woman, or so she had been told, didn't hold grudges but she wanted to at least find a way to apologise to her. Grinning at Tayla Josh nodded again. "I would be honoured Tayla and thank you for the offer." Standing, she said, “I would like to apologise once again. I respect you and want you to know that I will work my hardest to live up to your expectations.” Josh sighed, you never really got away from a department head's job to be honest, but Josh actually liked this woman so she was kind. Tayla, we are not on duty here. I'm not on duty. You are not on duty and the only way I will be on duty is if someone forces me to be so, and the only person here who could do that is Dahlia and then you, me, Kitty, Dr Oren and half this damn room will end up being suddenly on duty, so lets relax, chill out and enjoy ourselves for once, Lord knows we get little enough time for it. You have already apologised. I've accepted it end of story. It's over and done with as far as I am concerned so sit the hell back down and simply enjoy yourself." (Reply Tayla) (Posted by Marilyn) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Holodeck 3 - Japanese Bathhouse - ACMO Lieutenant jg Tayla Fraiser – 4 – 0922) Tayla nodded and replied, “You make a complelling argument.” and laughed. Soon enough, she was attired as most of the rest of the group were and smiled as she opened a small box that she had been handed by the attendant that had helped her to dress. Looking down, she saw a light blue hairslide, with a small blue oriental flower at the centre and a number of sparkling jewels flowing off it. It took her breath away as she fixed it to her hair and thought, ~this will be perfect with the dress I've picked out.~ she grinned to herself. As she walked towards the hot springs, she took a deep breath, allowed the robe to fall and joined Signos in the hot water, saying, “Wow, you certainly have an excellent programme here.” (Reply Signos) “Thankyou for inviting me. This is a certainly well needed relaxation after the events of the last few days.” (Reply Signos) She could feel her cheeks burning, with nothing to do with the heat from the water. It seemed everyone knew know about what had happened, “I know. Not my finest hour to say the least.” (Reply Signos) (Reply Signos, any) (Posted by Jackie Smith) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Holodeck 3 - Japanese Bathhouse - ATAC Ensign sg. Jessica Signos - Day 4 – 0923) Jessica smiled has the gathered mingled, it seemed the women of the Rosenante had plenty to be happy about the a overall successful mission that was for a bit going very badly, the coming of the twins and now the announcement of an upcoming marriage. It seemed that everything was going well, almost to well. She made her rounds greeting each you came to experiance this event with Jessica. A broad smile came over Jessica when Josh entered and handed her the Lun'ette plant. It was the one thing Jessica was not able to keep, when she was on the surface. Her other was long sense destroyed in the fighting. She read the card, has a sole tear escaped her eye. Jessica wrapped her arms around Josh. "Thank you." ~It's time's like this when disaster happens~ Lily warned deep in Jessica's mind. "Not now" She spoke softly to herself. As she made her way to both Marah and Dahlia. "I'm glad you both were able to make it. I hope the Rosenante has treated you well, and Congratulations." Jessica spoke happily yet calmly. She was glad for those that fate has smiled upon. But would they ever smile on her in such a way. Would she ever be able to find one that would be willing to accept her, her past and still love her enough to call Jessica his wife. Would she, could she ever bear children, or would those pleasures of live be forever barred from her. A toast was called to celebrate the good news has everyone mingled and separated into smaller groups. Dahlia and Marah kept close and chatted like old friends, while those who worked in medical kept close together. Which sadly for Jessica was nearly the rest of the group. She watched fading from the light of hostess letting everyone partake of the food that Jessica took the liberty to have on hand. ~You see, you'll forever be an outcast, you'll never belong, you can't escape what you are. ~ Lily's voice once again filled Jessica's mind. The thought voiced her own fears, caused Jessica to stop mid step walking to gather everyone attention. Tear's started to well in Jessica's eyes. ~Not now.~ Jessica pushed the dark feelings that stirred with in her soul away locking deeply under the force of her will. Turning to face the gathered. "My friends." She spoke happily. ~Are they your friends.~ Lily's voice jabbed. "Please if you may once changed, join me in the hot spring and other wonderful out lying pools." She motioned to the path that would take the other females to the changing room. Jessica crossed the room leading the way to the changing room. It was a large room, a servant waited standing next to a partition for each of the guest. Jessica walked up to young woman that was her servant stepping behind the screen. The servant went to work removing the cloths Jessica wore, then folded and stored them in a large basket. Jessica then sat on a small padded stool has her servant came back to her. Jessica's long raven black hair was then brushed, pulled back, and wrapped atop her head and secured with an decorative hair pins, Jessica's was of Japanese cherry blossoms studded with diamonds. There were such pins for each of the girls, replicated with precision and care with decoration ranging from flowers, to small birds, and other animals. Has It took time to fix Jessica's long hair. Jessica made it point to rarely cut her hair. It was one of the few things her and Lily found in agreement that they wanted to keep her hair long. It had become a sense of pride for them, and was only cut when absolutely necessary. She waited till everyone had left for the main hot spring and pool area, before exiting the changing room and following. Jessica entered the main room to the sounds of the soft background music and the sound of people chatting, giggling and laughing. Letting the silk robe she wore fall from her lithe body she entered the warmth of the water of the main hot spring. She let it's wramth sink into her small form, her toned muscles and lean body shown proudly. Showing how much time and effort was actually taken to keep Jessica in such shape. She closed her eyes has she let go of the darkness that clouded her mind that always threatened to consume her. For Jessica the moment to relax was much needed. To get away from everything that had happened to her over the last couple of months the Borg, Section 31, learning about Lily and how to control her, and her relationship with Eian. (reply any in the Bath house, iyw) (posted by Matthew Locke) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Holodeck 3 - Japanese Bathhouse - ATAC Ensign sg. Jessica Signos - Day 4 – 0924) Jessica had spent a goodly portion of the morning making final preparations to the programs. Everyone had gathered and was talking and chatting, has they made there way to the changing room. Jessica was in the middle of admiring her newly gained Lun'ette plant. It was in bloom and it was a thoughtful gesture that made Jessica smile. She had just made the announcement that everyone should retire to the changing room, when the main doors to the bath house opened. Jessica smiled seeing the blue skinned surgeon enter the bath house, truth be told Jessica had almost given up hope of her showing up. But Jessica smiled has she watched Oren approach her. “Ensign Signos, I’m sorry I’m late, a surgery ran over time.” Oren explained. Jessica smiled. "There is no need to be sorry, this is a day for everyone to relax and enjoy themselves, I'm just glad you made it, and it's Jessica I'm not on duty here." (reply Oren) "We were just getting ready to adjourn to the changing room and then head to the hot springs. If you would like to follow us there we can get things started. If you want anything to eat or drink or anything at all for that matter just ask an attendant and they'll see it done." (reply Oren) Jessica turned and called to one of the attendants "Asa, can you come over here." The attendant a small figured woman with hair that matched Oren came up to Jessica. "How can I be of service" Asa said and bowed her head politely. "This is V'Nara Oren, she was just able to arrive, please see to it that she's well taken care of. "Yes Madam" Asa said bowing again, she then turned to Oren. "Is there anything you need, it will be my pleasure to see it done." (reply Oren) (posted By Matthew Locke) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Holodeck 3 - Japanese Bathhouse - Marah Neru - Day 4 – 0925) Marah thanked everyone and joined in the toast, after that everyone began moving around and sampling the foods Jessica had set up. Slowly everyone began settling into the pools. She stayed close to Dahlia for a number of reasons, she was comfortable around her, Dahlia was pregnant and might require help just to name a few. She was glad to be interacting with everyone but she was still a civilian and Dahlia was too making her that much easier to be around. She was comfortable around Josh and Kitty too considering she spends most her of days working with them but they were still officers, Marah considered them friends of course but both had to be careful what was said around Marah regarding mission details and the like. She was glad Jessica had thought of doing this and inviting them all, it was really thoughtful of her. As Marah settled into one of the cooler pools with Dahlia she looked around, Jessica was off by herself seeming a little out of place. She turned to Dahlia. "Jessica looks a little lost." She said. "Almost like she's not sure what to do. Maybe we should ask her to join us." (reply Dahlia) Marah began waving at their hostess. "Jessica." She called out. "Come join us." Marah waited until Jessica came over to join them she was arrived Marah flashed her a smile. "Thank you for this Jessica." She said. "This was a great idea and just what we needed. Where did you get the program?" (reply Signos, Dahlia) "I hope you don't mind me borrowing it sometime." Marah said. "It's really nice here, and very relaxing." (reply Signos, Dahlia) Marah didn't know Jessica very well but this was a good time to find out a little about her. "Are you looking forward to the dance tomorrow?" She asked. "I can't wait. It took me three days to decide what dress to wear." (reply Signos, Dahlia, any) (posted by Milo Young) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Holodeck 3 - Japanese Bathhouse -Dahlia Jackson - Day 4 – 0927) Dahlia smiled as she observed Mariah's joy. She remembered being just the sane when she and Tom married. Ben and Mariah were a good pair. Dahlia knew they'd be happy. Mariah's words interrupted her reverie. "Jessica looks a little lost." She said. "Almost like she's not sure what to do. Maybe we should ask her to join us." " An excellent idea Mariah let's " Dahlia agreed. (reply Dahlia) Marah began waving at their hostess. "Jessica." She called out. "Come join us." Marah waited until Jessica came over to join them she was arrived Marah flashed her a smile. "Thank you for this Jessica." She said. "This was a great idea and just what we needed. Where did you get the program?" Dahlia agreed with Marsh. "This is so wonderfully relaxing" Dahlia added. Tom was of two minds on Jessica she knew. They had talked about her on a limited basis. Tom seemed to think there was more to her than was openly known. Marsh went on talking to Jessica. "Are you looking forward to the dance tomorrow?" She asked. "I can't wait. It took me three days to decide what dress to wear." Dahlia chimed in laughing a but. "Tom is thrilled about not having to wear a dress uniform. He hates it. The captain's 'suggestion' to wear a tuxedo was inspired. I think I will wear something in red" she added. (Reply: Marah, Jessica ) A kimono clad waitress stopped by. Dahlia asked for some tea. As the trio chatted Dahlia wondered what she had done to be blessed so. (Reply: Any present ) (Posted by:Bill W ) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Holodeck 3 - Japanese Bathhouse - ATAC Ensign sg. Jessica Signos - Day 4 – 0930) Jessica was content to be lost in what could of been, when the water next to her shifted has a new person entered the spring, Jessica glancing over at Talya as Dahlia and Marah called to Jessica. They were another pool but one that was close enough that Jessica didn't need to leave the warmth of the hot spring. She did move a bit closer so she could more easily keep polite conversation with those that now seemed to gather around her. “Wow, you certainly have an excellent program here.” Talya commented on the Bath house. "I'm glad your enjoying yourself." Jessica replied to Talya before moving to the next person who spoke. "Thank you for this Jessica." Marah said. "This was a great idea and just what we needed. Where did you get the program?" "This is so wonderfully relaxing" Dahlia added. "I wasn't allowed to keep much going up, the school I went to was strict on such niceties, I found this program shortly after I graduated from school, I don't remember the name of the store or the merchant. Don't get me wrong it was expensive but well worth every credit." She replied coming up with what she hoped was a believable ruse. The truth was the program was a gift from operatives from around the Section 31 for her eighteenth birthday. People with in the organization that had over the years seemed to become a second family to her. Jessica could recall Lily's memory at how furious S31 command was when they had found out about the gift. It took time but command eventually relented and allowed Jessica and Lily to keep the program and have a small escape. “Thank you for inviting me. This is a certainly well needed relaxation after the events of the last few days.” Talya commented. Jessica turned to her. "I think we all needed it, time in deep space is hard... on everyone that includes people on away missions and those who stay aboard the ship." Jessica could see Talya's cheeks burning, with nothing to do with the heat from the water. It seemed everyone knew know about what had happened, this caused Jessica to put her hand on the woman's shoulder. “I know. Not my finest hour to say the least.” Talya spoke softly "We all have made mistakes, me more than most. Let's try to not think of such things here..." She paused for a moment, before adding. "It's in the past." Jessica turned back to Marah and Dahlia. "I hope you don't mind me borrowing it sometime." Marah said. "It's really nice here, and very relaxing." "Not at all, It might even make a good night has part of a honeymoon." Jessica teased Marah lightly. (reply Marah, iyw) "Are you looking forward to the dance tomorrow?" Marah asked. "I can't wait. It took me three days to decide what dress to wear." Jessica chuckled at Marah's comment she was about to answer when Dahlia added "Tom is thrilled about not having to wear a dress uniform. He hates it. The captain's 'suggestion' to wear a tuxedo was inspired. I think I will wear something in red" she added. "I think red would suit you Dahlia," Jessica responded. "And I agree with Tom, I don't know anyone who like's wearing the dress uniform. Besides it gives us ladies a chance to bring some color to the party." Jessica smiled as the conversation continued. "Has for me... I don't know what I'm going to wear, or if I'm even going with anyone for that matter. I've left messages for Eian but he's yet to reply. I just don't know..." Jessica let her voice trail off has she turned her back to the others and looked over the glassy waters of the hot spring has steam rose from it's surface, She lost herself in thought. Tears began to slowly fall from her face has she remembered the party where her and Eian had meet and how they were so long ago before the Borg, before she knew of Lily. How far had they slipped from those happy times. (reply any present.) She glanced at the serving girl has she passed. "Jasmine green tea, with honey if you would please." Jessica watched the waitress nod has went about the guest gathering orders before disappearing back into the Manor. "I hope I don't offend but I must ask." She looked to Marah, Dahlia, Talya. "How much would you pay for your happiness, how far would you go for it, and would you change who you are for the sake of that love." (reply any present.) (posted By Matthew Locke) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Holodeck 3 - Japanese Bathhouse - Marah Neru - Day 4 – 0932) Marah was enjoying herself, she felt relaxed and comfortable. The ladies of the Rosenante were together, getting to know each other a little better. Conversations were going on all around, everyone seemed to be having a good time. "Not at all, It might even make a good night has part of a honeymoon." Jessica teased Marah lightly. Marah laughed a little. "Somehow I can't picture Ben soaking in a hot spring." She replied. "His idea of relaxing usually involves hacking at a holographic opponent. But thanks anyway, maybe I can convince him to spend a little time here if I agree to spend some time in one of his hack and slash programs." The conversation turned to the dance, what everyone was wearing, who was going with whom. Jessica didn't seem like she was looking forward to it, Eian hadn't answered any of her messages. She seemed saddened by it, poor girl. She turned to Marah and Dahlia as well as Tayla. "I hope I don't offend but I must ask." She looked to Marah, Dahlia, Talya. "How much would you pay for your happiness, how far would you go for it, and would you change who you are for the sake of that love." It was a difficult question to answer, Marah had asked herself sometime ago just what she would do, how far would she go. She wasn't anymore sure about the answers now as she was then. "Jessica," Marah said. "I've asked myself those same questions in the past and there's no easy answers. How can we put a price on happiness, can all the latinum in the universe even compare? How far can you follow someone? As for changing myself, I wouldn't. Take me as I am or leave me alone, I'm me and that's it." Marah paused for a moment before continuing. "My advice to you is, if you love someone let them know." She said. "Show them they are special to you, but not to strongly. You still have to give a person some space, it's kind of give and take. Eian just came out of a difficult situation and he needs some time to come to terms with the experience, he'll come around." Marah knew that was little comfort for Jessica but it was the best she could do, life had a way of throwing curves every now and again. Turn right when you should have turned left, run when you should have walked, jump when you should have hopped, take your pick. Marah knew how Jessica was feeling, not to long ago she was in a similar situation regarding Ben. "I know it's difficult." Marah said. "I've been where you are now. Does he love me, what's he waiting for, have I done something wrong, I've asked myself all those questions. I hope it works out for you Jessica." (reply any present) (posted by Milo Young) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Holodeck 3 - Japanese Bathhouse -Dahlia Jackson - Day 4 – 0934) Marah and Jessica were discussing what lengths those in love might go to keep the one they loved. Dahlia spoke up during a lull in the chatter. " Tom isn't so much into slash and hack scenarios but he role plays in thing he calls the Civil War. Sort of coincidental both our guys favor action to relax" She added. (Reply : Any present) Marah and Jessica spoke about the lengths one would go to ib keeping their loved one. Dahlia knew she'd had been blessed - she and Tom seemed fated to be as one from the start. Her friends had struggled and were struggling. Dahlia closed her eyes and relaxed. She was thinking of what she'd do in their place. Dahlia Jackson decided she'd do whatever she had to do to keep Tom's love. Tom would do the same in regards to her. (Reply: None needed) (Posted by:Bill W.) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Holodeck 3 - Japanese Bathhouse -ACMO Lt Jg Tayla Fraiser - Day 4 – 0935) Tayla listened to the talk of love and what you would do to keep that love. Something had bothered her for a few moments now and she couldn't quite figure it out. Leaning forward, she looked at Signos and said, “For me, love is a two way thing. Give and take, each working with the other to become better. I would, if I found the right man...” she winked at Josh, “....I would give my life for that man but I would not change who I am. Any man who asks a woman to change who they are to suit them is not a man. They cannot and should not ask someone to change who they are, they have no right. But, for love, if something I do upset that man, then yes. I would work to fix that but keeping myself.” Leaning back, she hoped that her words had helped. Looking around the room and the place that they were all in, it was so calming, so peaceful that she allowed her barriers to lower just a bit to appreciate the ambience of the spa. She knew that Caskie would have her head for this but she hadn't pried, hadn't listened to anyone and had barely even begun to do so when something happened she hadn't expected.
