JG Tayla Fraiser - Day 1 - 2100) ========================= (USS Rosenante COPS Quarters Tom and Dahlia Jackson Day 1 0615) Tom and Dahlia were both up early - she because the twins were active and he because he was scared. Jackson wasn't often scared but this fright wasn't combat related. It was his first real duty day back on the Rose after his promotion debacle. He still had not said anything to Pez about his infernal meddling. Tom knew he'd have to soon. Both the women in his life were insisting he do so. Tom was worried how his shipmates would react after his administrative demotion. He also suspected that several of his friends would soon be be his senior rank wise. Slowly sipping the coffee Dahlia had thoughtfully replicated for him he realized Dahlia had not said much about the babies. "Honey come sit by me for a moment". Tom asked. Dahlia was incredibly beautiful whether pregnant or not. She learned against him and smiled. " Yes Thomas?" She asked. Looking at her a moment he replied to her. " I have been so thoughtless towards you. Here I am so absorbed in my own minor problems that I have neglected you and the twins" he added. "Thomas, I know you better than you know yourself dear" she added hugging Tom. "I know the kids and I are the center of your world. Remember when we met again? That wasn't by chance. I asked Pez and your mom to meet you there. As Pez's assistant I of course went along." Tom looked at her with a curious glance. She smiled the smile he loved so and went on. "I have loved you since we were children. Every success you have had I have celebrated and every roadblock you've encountered I have cried for your disappointment" she added. Tom sighed as he was filled with such love for this woman! Jackson smiled and said " so what you are saying is I never had a chance?". She laughed and said "No not really". Clutching her hand gently he replied "I suspected so long ago" and laughed. Dahlia looked at her husband and added " you will yet fulfill your destiny. Now go to work. We'll be here when you return". (Reply: None) (Posted by:Bill W ) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Personal Quaters - ATAC Ensign sg. Jessica Signos - 0616) It was the first real sleep Jessica had in quite some time. She enjoyed the softness of the bed. She layed there on the edge between being asleep and awake with a small silk blanket covering her. She wondered about her life; about Lily and her role in her life, about Sanok that seemed to be close to figuring out who she was and about Lily, She wondered how many others would figure her out. After all hwer time on the Rosenante was the longest she has ever been in one spot the longest she ever had to keep Lily a secret. That was also the problem with secrets sooner or later some one always found then out. Most of all she wondered about Eian and wether or not there relationship would ever progress beyond the point where they were now. He seemed distant during the last mission and after what had happened with the borg... She forced those thoughts from her head. She knew he needed her, has much has she needed him maybe more. He still wasn't feeling himself. If anything he felt betrayed, he may not of show it. But it's there, a deep sorrowful hurt that seemed it would never go away. She finally woke to get started with the task that needed to be accomplished today. Her back was sore and her arms were stiff from the hellish fire fight but that did little to stop her from her duty. As she doned her uniform, she decided to sit down and send Eian a message. "Computer record message." The computer beeped to show it was ready. "Dearest Eian." Her voice was soft and sweet. "I just wanted to drop a line to see how you are. I'm worried about you. I know life hasn't been easy for either of us, But I wanted to let you know your still in my thoughts and in my heart...." She thought for a moment on how to end the message but in the end decided on something simple. "... Jessica." "Computer delieve message to Lt. Oniel's quarters." =/\= Acknologed... =/\= The computer replied has Jessica made her way out of her quaters and to the bridge of the Rosenante. (USS Rosenante- Bridge - ATAC Ensign sg. Jessica Signos - 0710.5) She entered the bridge right has Soma looked to her and moved from the console letting her take over for him has he made his way into the Captains ready room. (reply none) (posted by Matthew Locke) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante - O'Neill's Quarters - ACEO Lt Eian O'Neill - Day 1 - 0630) It felt good to sleep in. He didn't have duty that morning and he had just gotten up. Yesterday, the disguise had come off and he now was back to his old self. He placed his hands on the counter in the bathroom and stared into the mirror. ~Old self, huh?~ he thought ironically, looking at the Borg implants on his face and chest. He knew it wasn't supposed to be possible, but he could still hear the servos move whenever he lifted his prosthetic arm from a resting position. Whenever he used his fingertips to pick up something small, or drag his finger across a screen. He could hear the tiny motors in his shoulder, elbow, and knuckles. He stared at his reflection. What was normal? It was hard to tell, when one had just spent a significant amount of time in a disguise that would allow few to recognize oneself. Add to that, that it was only roughly two months ago that he had been sawed apart and put back together with spare parts, and 'normal' had a very different definition. He looked down at his regenerated legs...they were probably the only replacement parts that were still truly his. In a state-of-the-art technique, the surgeon had been able to rebuild them from cloned tissue. He sighed and turned on the water, splashing his face. It felt refreshing. Perhaps getting back into a routine on the Rosenante would allow him to get back into a routine within his own mind. ~Or at least get a feel for what the new 'normal' is,~ he thought as he turned on the sonic shower and prepared to cleanse his body and enter a silent prayer session that he hoped would cleanse his soul. (reply none) (posted by Morgan G) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Ready Room - CO, Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid, Day 1 - 0700) Ahmed sat in his chair reviewing the last few reports concerning the actions that had taken place on Asrai Prime and the Colony ship Solyon. With the arrival of the Colony ship and the subsequent removal of the destructive factions within the Asrai Leadership, the First Engineer Lindba had his hands full reforming a viable government and setting up social programs to aid the people of Asrai Prime. Rosenante medical teams had aided him in restoring the colonists held in cold storage back to normal functioning members of society. Lindba wasted no time in making preparations for building a new city that would house the colonists and eventually help educate the entire planet within a couple of generations. The Asrai Engineer was certain that the people would want to learn and develop on their own, and he was prepared, despite the scope of the situation to help guide them back onto their appropriate path. To make it easier, Ahmed had made arrangements for a federation embassy to be established here, so that Federation-Asrai relations could be built up. After all, that was part of their initial mission, to help secure Federation control of this sector against any claims made by the Romulans or Cardassians. Solyon was now orbiting the planet Asrai Prime and its influence was already beginning to have a positive effect upon the environment. It seemed that Asrai Prime itself was originally scheduled to received a similar colony ship a few years after the Solyon was originally supposed to have passed through here. The events that had rendered that ship damaged had destroyed any plans for improving upon Asrai Prime. He realized how difficult for the crew the last mission had been, but he also knew that he couldn't take them back into Federation space just yet. Their orders were very clear, so they'd have to stay out just a little bit longer. But that didn't prevent them from having some down time. He'd once been privy to a certain tradition aboard the USS Winchester, during his academy ship duty training. The captain There held an annual ball, which he called the Captain's Cotillion. It gave everyone an opportunity to mix and mingle and it desperately helped to establish a much needed pressure valve for the crew, especially when undertaking long survey missions. Ahmed was convince that it would be time to start such a tradition of his own. But whom to put in charge of it? Ahmed smiled. He reached over and closed his console before turning to face the ready room door. He tapped his commbadge, "Salid to Soma, Matrix and Jackson. Please report to my ready room." (reply Soma, Jackson, Matrix) Daniel Greene ------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Bridge - COPS, LT. Tom Jackson, Day 1 - 0702) Tom was back in what he viewed as home. The Asrai mission was over. The Federation was establishing an embassy on the planet. Life, for a while, was returning to normal. He had gotten in on the last portion of the last mission. His shipmates had grown both in skill and maturity. They were destined for great things ahead! Tom had been impressed by all of them. He was beginning to feel like an ancient mariner called the old man of the sea. Jackson would soon be a father. He was looking forward to the twins arrival. His revelry was interrupted by the captain's summons. =^= Salid to Soma, Matrix and Jackson. Please report to my ready room.=^= Tom tapping his badge in reply he said " Lt. Jackson here Ok skipper. On my way " and closed the link. Tom stood and signaled PO2 Emily Graatz to take over at the Ops station. As he walked to the Ready Room door he straightened his uniform tunic and activated the entry chime. It wasn't long before he heard the familiar 'Come'. He entered and reported to his old friend and skipper Ahmed Salid. (Reply: Skipper) (Posted by: Bill W.) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Bridge - CTAC Lt. sg Ben Soma- 0704) Ben was standing at the tactical station, human once again. He'll never forget the look on Marah's face when he walked into sickbay for treatment, she couldn't believe he was him. She went about treating his burns with a dermal regenerator looking at him, trying to see past the disguise before finally accepting it was him. Things slowly got back to normal now that everything had settled down on Asrai Prime, the new colonists were settling in and the older inhabitants were coming to terms with what they were forced to abandon so long ago. He even heard rumors that Jamal was taking an active roll in trying to bridge the gap. He was glad to be home, though it was required they remain here for a while. A comline opened and Salid requested he, Tom and Steve join him in his ready room. Ben couldn't help but wonder what was going on, tapping his combadge he said. "On my way Captain." He then turned to Signos indicating she take over for him while he was gone. He then crossed to the ready room doors just behind Tom and wiated for the door to open. Ben entered behind Tom, wondering how much longer it would be until his friend became a father. The doors closed behind them and both walked to the Captain's desk, Matrix wouldn't be long getting up from engineering but Ben didn't like awkward silences. "Things seem to be coming together on Asrai Prime," He said. "all be it a little slow. Many of the inhabitants still find it hard to believe that Solyon actually contained Asrai. All these years they heard the story of Solyon the destroyer, it was just a little misinterpreted. Solyon wasn't going to destroy the planet just their way of life." (reply Salid, Jackson, Matrix) (posted by Milo Young) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Personal Quarters - CEO LCDR Steven Matrix - Day 1 - 0707) Matrix had been up for a few hours, but took the opportunity to have coffee and a light breakfast in his quarters. The alone time was appreciated given the recent mission. It was good to be back aboard the Rose and enjoying some normalcy for a change. The duty rosters were posted and the ship was running smoothly with a few exceptions, but nothing that wouldn't be fixed within beta shift at the very least. News from Earth was welcome with a lengthy message from Matrix's parents now back in Colorado from their extended trip to Vulcan and a few outlying observation posts and newly colonized planets. Laurence Matrix still regarded himself as an asset to the Federation regardless of being out of active duty for nearly 15 years. Laurence had spent the last several years serving as a tactical security consultant to the Federation. Matrix smiled at the comments his mother made as reference to the 'enduring and irreplaceable' father as he made his way through 23 seminars and consultation meetings over the past year. "I wish your father would simply enjoy retirement. He runs around the galaxy as though he was back on active duty" said Sara Brown-Matrix. Matrix paused the message replay. "Salid to Soma, Matrix and Jackson. Please report to my ready room." =^= Matrix here. Acknowledged Sir on my way. =^= "Computer, pause and save messages. Transfer the daily report and duty assignments to PADD 1139." [Messages saved. Ships status, daily reports and duty assignments have been transferred.] (Reply any, none required) (Posted by Steve) -------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Ready Room - CEO LCDR Steven Matrix - 0710) Matrix wasted no time getting up to the Captain's Ready Room. Upon his entrance he noticed Tom immediately and had to hold himself back. He wanted nothing more than to catch up with his old friend, but duty first. Matrix smiled at Tom and did the same at Ben and took a seat at the table and listened to the discussion. Tom followed up. " A baby update. Dahlia is due anytime. I would like the two of you and Steve Matrix as well as Chance to be godfathers to my children". Matrix let out an audible laugh, "You've been busy while away from the Rose?" asked Matrix with a bit of sarcasm in his voice. (Reply Tom, Ben IFY) (Posted by Steve) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Sickbay - aCMO Lieutentant JG Tayla Fraiser, Day 1 - 0711) After the events of the mission had been concluded and the crew had been returned to themselves, everything had gone quiet. No reprimands, no shouting, nothing. It felt like the calm before the storm and, if what she had heard about Josh was to be believed, then it would not be pretty. Sitting alone in sickbay, Tayla had tried to focus her thoughts onto something other than what was going to be said to her and had failed miserably. Tapping her fingers on the bio bed, she turned to Kitty and said, “Hey, Kitty is it?” (Reply Fisher) “What time is Josh due on shift?” (Reply Fisher) Tayla sighed and said, “I’m suspecting she wants a few ‘words’ shall we say.” (Reply Fisher) “I know, I know. It’s all such a mess.” (Reply Fisher) (Posted by Jackie Smith) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Sickbay - MO - Lt (sg) Kitty Fisher - Day 1 - 0713) Kitty had been running diagnostics on the biobeds in the main sickbay. As the newest doctor on the Rose this was part of her duties and it bored her silly. To be honest she would have been far better off being back here as the Head Nurse. At least she had some status in that position. As the newest medical officer on the Rose she unfortunately got all the make work lousy jobs to do. She had know that this would happen but as the only MO in the fleet that was trained in Skorrian medical techniques she had though that being on the Rose would enable her to at least practice her training since the only Skorrian in the fleet was stationed on the Rose. That was not to be however, since just before they began their last mission Dralar had been transferred back to Skorria to fulfil what he called his 'princely duties' and that simply left Kitty at the rump end of the medical chain and doing all the crappy jobs. The only bright spot in this otherwise boring time was that Dahlia, Lt Jackson's wife was due her twins any day soon and Kitty was looking forward to that. Walking from bed to bed and paying attention to her padd she was surprised when the new ACMO spoke to her. “Hey, Kitty is it?” Kitty stopped, looked at her and smiled. She hadn't spoken to Lt Fraiser much since she had hardly been aboard before she had been sent off on the away team. “What time is Josh due on shift?” Kitty checked the time and then checked the CMO's Office. "To be honest Sir, I'm surprised she's not here yet. Mind you, given what I've heard all of the away team deserve some down time. She's probably just walking Lulu and will be here shortly." Tayla sighed and said, “I’m suspecting she wants a few ‘words’ shall we say.” Kitty looked at the ACMO and noticed how tightly she was wound up. Her ties to the nurses still kept Kitty updated on most everything that went on in the Rose and she smiled in sympathy given how obviously the new ACMO was not looking forward to what she imagined. Not too much sympathy to be honest though. Kitty knew that Josh wasn't a hard task master and sometimes tended to err on the easier side of discipline. It worked for her. A lot of medical people tended to be virtuosos and expected to be left to their own devices to be honest, and having had to take charge as Acting CMO before this mission started and Josh had arrived had taught Kitty that you simply could not dive in with both feet and expect everyone to simply toe the line. However Josh knew what she could do and what she couldn't, that was why she was such a successful CMO, but when something annoyed her Kitty knew that Josh had a temper and although Kitty felt somewhat sorry for Frazier, she was not about to give her any hints above the obvious one So, keeping her own counsel she nodded at her. "I take it you didn't exactly perform well on the away mission then?" she asked “I know, I know. It’s all such a mess.” Kitty smiled somewhat sympathetically. "Oh well, I suggest you take your punishment like a grown up and leave it at that. Josh doesn't hold grudges so once she has spoken to you, that will be it to be honest, but I warn you, I know her and she does have a sharp tongue." (reply Tayla iyw) Kitty lifted her eyes and smiled as the main doors to medical opened. "By the way. Guess who just walked in. Good luck Lieutenant. She's not smiling and that's a bad sign." (Reply Tayla iyw) (Posted by Marilyn) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Ready Room - COPS - LT. Tom Jackson Day 1. 0714) Matrix, Soma, himself and the skipper were engaging in idle chat prior to their meeting. Ben elaborated on the situation on the planet below. Tom added an update on the twins and Dahlia. Tom reddened a bit at the good natured ribbing. "Well Steve as you know I always try my best" Tom chuckled. These were his friends and except for Dahlia they were his closest friends. (Reply: Any present ) (Posted by:Bill W ) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Ready Room - CO, Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid, Day 1 - 0715) Jackson and soma were the first two of his officers to arrive to the ready room, and Ahmed was glad to see the two seemingly relaxed despite the recent events on Asrai Prime. Soma, ever sensitive to pregnant silences, was quick to give him a short report. "Things seem to be coming together on Asrai Prime," He said. "all be it a little slow. Many of the inhabitants still find it hard to believe that Solyon actually contained Asrai. All these years they heard the story of Solyon the destroyer, it was just a little misinterpreted. Solyon wasn't going to destroy the planet just their way of life." Ahmed nodded, "I suppose that in a way it was a destroyer, but I don't know that it was a bad thing, considering that the civilization had all but stagnated. The Oracle and by extension the Voice had done nothing but establish their own personal kingdom, using Asrai technology to further their own greed for power while keeping its benefits from the people that needed it most. I think Lindba will be able to do a great deal of good, once he can convince people that technology isn't the ultimate evil." "Just once it'd be nice to have a mission where there wasn't any fighting. I think we all had enough of that in the Doenitz revolt" Tom vented. "Very true Tom, but if you want quiet easy conflict free jobs, you should have signed up on a science vessel, rather than a ship-of-the line. I assure you, I'd much rather prefer this post over a science ship any day." Ahmed replied. Tom nodded and suddenly changed the subject as Matrix arrived, "A baby update. Dahlia is due anytime. I would like the two of you and Steve Matrix as well as Chance to be godfathers to my children." Tom had evidently not seen the Senior Engineer enter the ready room. It made Salid smile as Matrix replied, "You've been busy while away from the Rose?" Jackson reddened at the playful ribbing, and Ahmed actually chuckled at the reply, "Well Steve as you know I always try my best" Tom chuckled. "As do we all." Ben said. "I'm honored Tom, and I accept." "Marah said she and Dalhia are getting quite friendly, I was glad to hear that." Ben said. "Marah had said she found time long with nothing to do and I'm guessing Dalhia feels the same, they can help each other pass the time when we're not around." (reply Matrix iyw) Reigning in the small laugh, Ahmed cleared his throat to let everyone know that he was ready to start the short meeting. Once he was certain he had everyone's attention, he began. "Gentlemen thank you for being so prompt. The reason that I've called you here is because I'm of a mind to throw a party. It is my intention to have the event become a tradition aboard the Rosenante, and for this inaugural event, I wanted the three of you to head up the committee." He paused only for a moment. "The event will be called the Captain's Cotillion and I fully intend it to be the best organized event it can be. You'll have until Stardate 2414.04.15 to put it together. Here are the basics. Tom, I want you to work on clearing out cargo bay Two and Three. We'll need the materials stored there to be relocated into one of the other cargo bays. I know that's a lot of materials, but I have faith that you can get it done." (reply Jackson) "Mister matrix," Ahmed began and then handed him a PADD, "I want you and your engineering team to build us a suitable forum for our event. The schematics are on this PADD. It will involve the removal of the modular bulkhead between the compartments, and a great deal of additional lighting, general replication and construction. We'll need some Holographic emitters set up at the stage to create the orchestra and some others to form the holographic servants for the event." (reply Matrix) "Mister Soma, I want you to oversee everything else. Real alcohol will be served, so you'll need to have the bar fully stocked. You'll need Lieutenant Raschen to help you with the materials and to make it all work out. A series of tables, food, drinks and similar will be necessary as well. We will be hosting a Marine Colonel as well, which will be arriving before the event. In addition I'd like to invite up some of the Asrai, to better our relations. Tap anyone from the senior crew that you'll need. Diplomatic work, food menus, music, everything else about the venue is yours to conduct. You will also be responsible for crew attendance. I plan on this event lasting for a few hours, so you will need to work up a schedule with the department heads. I want every family member and crew able to attend the event for at least a couple of hours or more. I'm leaving it to you to get that done. The event will be formal attire, but uniforms are not required." (reply Soma) "Any questions, gentlemen?" Ahmed asked. (reply Soma, Matrix, Jackson) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Holodeck 2 - CMO - Cmdr Josh Caskie - Day 1 - 0716) Josh hadn't been looking forward to what she had to do today. She knew it was necessary and that as CMO it was part of her job. That however did not make it easier. Whilst she, to some extent wanted to put it off indefinitely she knew that if she didn't say something soon then Ahmed would have to and Josh, as his friend, did not want to disappoint him and pass this burden on to him. She was in charge of the medical staff and no matter how uncomfortable she felt about it, it was her duty to speak out when she decided that they had not performed to their best. She had taken extra time to walk Lulu on the holodeck using the strong wind from the Atlantic to wash away the cobwebs from her brain. By the time she returned Lulu to her room Josh already knew what needed to be said and how she would approach it. (USS Rosenante - Main Sickbay - CMO - Cmdr Josh Caskie - Day 1 - 0718) Walking through the doors she allowed her gaze to sweep over the bay. At the same time she nodded to everyone in greeting. "Good morning boys and girls. Any problems this morning?" Not getting a positive response Josh smiled and nodded. Turning her gaze to Lt Frasier she nodded. "Lt Frazier, I would like a word with you in my office as soon as you are available." Josh kept her voice neutral but everyone knew that 'as soon as you are available' meant right now and Josh had barely sat down at her desk when Lt Fraizer knocked at the door an asked permission to enter. (Reply Fraizer) Josh began to speak leaving the Lieutenant standing. "Good morning Lieutenant. Unfortunately I need to speak to you about your conduct during our last away mission. (Reply Fraiser) "As far as I am concerned you conduct during some parts of this mission was unacceptable and far less that either I or Captain Salid would have expected from you. (Reply Frazier) "To be honest Lieutenant I don't need to hear your apologies. What I need to hear is that you realise that you screwed up and big time, and that you will make sure that it never ever happens again, since I cannot authorise you for our next away mission without some sort of certainty that you will actually perform your duties as authorised by myself and the Captain and not simply go off mission again and do what you want to do, on your own. In other words you need to promise that you won't screw up again. This time it is me talking to you. The next time you won't have it so easy. (reply Frasier) Josh nodded. Very well their is one final thing that I need to speak to you about. Please have a seat Tayla. It has come to my attention that you have, possibly unknown to you, managed to set up an empathic link with Lt Davis. Whilst that link per se is none of my business, you and Parker are going to have to manage it so that it does not disrupt this ship, and both you and he need to understand that immediately." "I do understand how difficult this might be for you so I am giving you one half hour to go speak to him at present and attempt to fix this starting from now. I suggest that you go speak to him now, (reply Tayla.) (Posted by Marilyn) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante -Sickbay - aCMO Lieutenant Jg Tayla Fraiser - Day 1 - 0717) "Oh well, I suggest you take your punishment like a grown up and leave it at that. Josh doesn't hold grudges so once she has spoken to you, that will be it to be honest, but I warn you, I know her and she does have a sharp tongue." Tayla smiled a little and said, “I can imagine. Infact I have been.” "By the way. Guess who just walked in. Good luck Lieutenant. She's not smiling and that's a bad sign." Tayla watched as Josh walked through the doors and spoke to the whole medical team. Then, the time that she had been dreading came, "Lt Frazier, I would like a word with you in my office as soon as you are available." She glanced at Kitty and then, sighing, rose from her seat and walked to the office. Taking a moment to gather herself before she knocked on the door, she thought to herself, ~Okay. There's nothing you can do about this. You deserve what ever is going to happen so suck it up and take it like a grown up.~ Knocking on the door, she walked in and said, “Good morning, Josh.” Without offering her a seat, which she knew wasn't a good sign, she began, "Good morning Lieutenant. Unfortunately I need to speak to you about your conduct during our last away mission. Standing to attention, she held her hands behind her back and said, “I understand. Infact I expected this.” "As far as I am concerned you conduct during some parts of this mission was unacceptable and far less that either I or Captain Salid would have expected from you. Taking a breath, Tayla said, “I understand and all I can say is that I am truly sorry for what happened.” she stopped, knowing that saying anything else would seem out of place and would make things worse. Holding Josh's gaze, she waited as the woman continued, "To be honest Lieutenant I don't need to hear your apologies. Tayla nodded. “I understand completely and can assure you that this will not happen again. It was not intentional and I thought with my heart rather than my head. I know I messed up and big time. I've beaten myself up about this since we got back, infact since the Captain and I were taken. If I could go back and take it all back, I would.” She paused for a moment and then said, “It will not happen again. I promise that to you, Josh.” “Very well their is one final thing that I need to speak to you about. I suggest that you go speak to him now, Tayla rose from the seat and nodded. “I shall do that right away.” Walking towards the door, she stopped, turned back and said, “I can't apologise enough about all this. It was not my intention to have any of this happen, let alone for any of it to influence or disrupt this mission. I feel terrible for it and will do all I can to make it up to both you and Captain Salid, I can promise you that.” (Reply Caskie) Tayla nodded and said, “I'll be back shortly.” (Reply Caskie, Any) (Posted by Jackie Smith) --------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Ready Room - CTAC Lt. sg Ben Soma- 0719) Matix arrived and they engaged in some conversation before before the Captain got down to business, Tom gave them and update on Dalhia saying she was due soon and then stated he wanted all present along with Chance to be godparents. Matrix let out an audible laugh, "You've been busy while away from the Rose?" asked Matrix with a bit of sarcasm in his voice. Tom reddened a bit at the good natured ribbing. "Well Steve as you know I always try my best" Tom chuckled. Ben nodded. "As do we all." He said. "I'm honored Tom, and I accept." Ben had missed Tom while he was gone, now that he was back it was like old times. Though he had to admit he hadn't seen Dalhia since he came back, he assumed she was resting as much as possible. Marah said she and Dalhia were growing close which was a good thing, there weren't a lot of civilians on board and Dalhia no doubt found time long when Tom wasn't with her. "Marah said she and Dalhia are getting quite friendly, I was glad to hear that." Ben said. "Marah had said she found time long with nothing to do and I'm guessing Dalhia feels the same, they can help each other pass the time when we're not around." The skipper was giving the crew some down time while extending the mission -there was a lot of work left to do planet side and Tom realized this as another trait of a good commander. He and CAPT Capps had done something similar on the Boudicca. The concept was excellent. Captain Salid out lined their individual tasks. The skipper went on "Tom, I want you to work on clearing out cargo bay Two and Three. We'll need the materials stored there to be relocated into one of the other cargo bays. I know that's a lot of materials, but I have faith that you can get it done." Jackson thought a moment and checked his pads. "Can do Sir. (Reply : Any Present ) (Posted by: Bill W ) -------------------------- (USS Rosenante – Counselor's Office - aCMO Lieutenant Jg Tayla Fraiser - Day 1 - 0721) Standing outside Parker's office, she suddenly felt nervous. This was something that she hadn't expected to have to do this early in their relationship but Josh had asked for this to happen and so, in order for her to stay here on the Rose, it had to happen now. She sighed and walked through the door to find Parker sat at his desk. Smiling, she said, “Hey.” Parker raised his head to see her standing infront of him. He hadn't expected to see her that morning and was planning to ask her to the holodeck later that day. Still a little mad at the connection that had been built without his permission and had almost screwed up his first command, he replied simply, “Good morning.” Tayla looked at him and said, “You seem a little distant today. Is everything alright?” "Tayla, there is something we need to talk about.” He paused a second, trying to find the right words. He didn't want to hurt her, he loved the woman but it hurt a little what had happened. Sitting down next to him, she said, “Okay, what is it?” “During the mission, and I think before that, as well, I believe we've been...and still are...telepathically linked. Empathically linked, at least." She looked at him and said, "Is this what you were wanting to talk about? Oh thank god!" she smiled. "I thought you were having regrets about us." She took his hand and said, "I never realised that was happening. But now you've told me, there is something i can do about it." He also sighed in relief. "I am so glad you said that. Tayla, I want to be with you. I want this relationship to work. But...this connection was interfering with my ability to command. So something *needs* to be done about it. What is it you plan to do?" She smiled and said, "Well, seen as you ask. the solution would be to teach you to realise when i'm there.." she tapped his forehead... "... and teach you how to turn it off. If you're game?" He hesitated. Despite being a psychologist, this was something he was a bit apprehensive about. "I guess. If it's safe," he said, sounding more than just a bit uneasy. Leaning forward, she kissed him gently and said, "We'll do this at your pace. Are you ready?" she asked, looking into his eyes. He nodded, and closed his eyes. "Go ahead," he whispered. She placed her hands gently on the side of his face and said, "Just let your mind wander." She closed her eyes and reached out slowly and gently with her mind. She could feel him struggling and smiled. Wiping away his unease, she whispered in his mind, "Let your feelings for us come to the surface." That wasn't hard to do, and he thought about her, and how beautiful she was, and how he loved her. How worried he had recently been for her survival. How her well-being or the mission occupied his every thought. She smiled and said, "Now imagine a wall. build it up brick by brick. That wall is the barrier that i can't penetrate, that i won't penetrate when i feel it." He imagined himself building the wall, brick by brick. He imagined her on the other side and felt sad as he constructed it, because he felt their connection being torn. So he did something he wasn't instructed to. He built a door into the wall. She pulled out from his mind and said, "Why did you build a door?" "Because I don't want to be walled off from you," he said, opening his eyes after he said it. "I want you to be able to come in...I trust you." She smiled, widely, and said, “I trust you too.” Standing infront of him, she leant down and kissed him gently, saying, “I need to get back. Josh is already a little mad. No reason to make her even more mad than she already is.” she paused a second and said, “Tell you what... meet me tonight at the holodeck and we can talk properly. About us.” He nodded and, rising to meet her, he said, “I'd like that.” Leaning forward, he kissed her softly and said, “Until then.” Grinning, she said, “I can't wait. That's assuming i'm still alive after Josh has finished with me.” Winking, she walked to the door, stopped and turned round, saying, “See you tonight, say 8 pm.” (USS Rosentante – Sickbay – Lieutenant jg Tayla Fraiser – 0742) Walking back into sickbay, she felt happy but still terribley guilty about everything that had happened. The reason that I've called you here is because I'm of a mind to throw a party. It is my intention to have the event become a tradition aboard the Rosenante, and for this inaugural event, I wanted the three of you to head up the committee." said the Captain. He paused only for a moment. I know that's a lot of materials, but I have faith that you can get it done." "Mister matrix," Ahmed began and then handed him a PADD, "I want you and your engineering team to build us a suitable forum for our event. The schematics are on this PADD. It will involve the removal of the modular bulkhead between the compartments, and a great deal of additional lighting, general replication and construction. We'll need some Holographic emitters set up at the stage to create the orchestra and some others to form the holographic servants for the event." Matrix took a quick glance at the PADD, "Of course Captain. It would be a great diversion to put my team on something so festive for a change. Rien que le meilleur! Thank you." said Matrix. Technically she's not considered family, and she's not starfleet, which means that technically she's not authorized to stay aboard ship. Regulations being what they are, I've managed to extend her stay as a "civilian consultant", but that's beginning to come under some scrutiny with BUPERS. So that leaves us with something of a problem. Either we need to make her part of your family, through marriage, or we need to make arrangements for her to depart the ship. Starfleet is a little concerned with her being aboard considering our mission out here. There's no legal recourse for them should something happen and Miss Neru come to harm." He paused giving Soma a few moments to soak in all the information before continuing, "I can continue to shield her for the moment, but I don't know how long I can call on captain's prerogative. Eventually we'll have to come to a point where a decision needs to be made concerning her. A dance to let the crew wind down and mingle in a social setting rather then a military setting was a great idea, the fact that it would be an annual event would be even better. He couldn't wait for the event, Marah would be very excited as he was certain most of the crew would be too. He hoped that the Asrai would accept the invitation, though they had only been there a short period he had developed a few friends he wouldn't mind seeing again. "Can do Sir. I would like to see if LT Sanok could loan us a few of the Security folks to help in the transfer of the cargo. Ben might we borrow some of your folks if need be?" Tom added. Ben nodded to Tom. Though he had been right it wasn't his place, he just had to face the music. What Salid said after Tom and Steve left surprised him to say the least. Once Ben had settled, Ahmed continued, "You've been with my crew for a little over a year now, Ben and I am damned glad to have you. Josh heard the knock and without looking up realised that it was probably Fraizer back and since scuttlebut on this ship seemed to travel faster than even the ship could manage she knew the staff on this ship well enough to know that unless it was an emergency, no-one was likely to bother her until she emerged from her office this morning. Letting Tayla enter she looked up at here and simply waited for her to speak first. Tayla entered and said, softly, “It's sorted. You won't have any problems ever again from us.” Josh nodded her head. "Good I'm glad. This reprimand is unofficial and will not appear on your service record this time Liuetenant. Speak to Kitty with regard to what we can give them without keeping ourselves short since I have no idea when we will get back to Geneva to stock up, and if they ask for equipment then you need to run that passed the FO for authorisation from Captain Salid before we can send it out and we possibly might have to get authorisation from Starfleet Medical or Command to be honest. Accessing the Comm, she placed the call and waited patiently for the woman to appear on the screen. The sight of the Asrai female appeared and it sent a little shiver down her back as she remembered what she had looked like only a short time before. Smiling she said, “Hello, my name is Lieutenant Fraiser, the assistant chief medical officer of the Uss Rosenante.” The woman leant forward and said, “It is a pleasure to talk with those that have saved us. My name is Roshan.” Smiling, Tayla said, “Roshan, it's a pleasure. I suppose we should get down to business. The reason for my call is to try and ascertain what help we can offer you during this time of transistion. Please tell me of any help we can offer.” Roshan thought for a moment and then replied, “We have plenty of medicines that we have used for centuries. The only thing we have real need for is teaching, technology. Is that something you can offer us?” Thinking for a second, she said, “The teaching, yes. I am quite happy, dependant on my superiors, to come down and offer you what teaching I can but the technology would be something that I would have to run past our Captain. Tell you what, If you give me an hour or so to get some basic teaching material together, I can come down and we can talk more about what technology it is you are looking for?” Roshan nodded and said, “I'll make plans to have someone meet you on your arrival and I, myself, will show you around our main hospital.” Tayla nodded and said, “That's fine. I shall go and speak to the Captain and be down to see you within the hour.” (USS Rosentante – Captain's ready room – Lieutenant Jg Tayla Fraiser – 0843) Tayla waited by the doors to the ready room and, once admitted, she walked in and stood infront of Salid with her hands behind her back and said, “Sir, may I have a moment?” (Reply Salid) (Posted by Jackie Smith) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Security Office - Lt. Sanok - Day 1 - 0800) With the Asrai mission, and the subsequent time of rendering aid in guiding the Asrai people into a new era for them, the crew had finally returned to normal duties back on board the ship. Sanok was able to complete his report for the captain, though he left out two important things. While in the caverns with the Tilshol, Ben had committed an extreme violation of the Prime Directive in telling Kaso and the others who they really were. Though Sanok disliked the PD, it was his responsibility as Chief of Security, and as a Starfleet officer, to include that in his report. Though friendship was a major factor in why Sanok did not, it turned out that the crew studying the rogue planet had already learned the truth, so technically, even though Ben didn't know it yet, the PD no longer applied. The second thing Sanok did not put in his report, was Ensign Signos. Though he did not have the hard evidence to prove his suspicions; all the research he had done through records and proper channels, had been blocked, he was certain he knew what Signos was. Bound by duty to protect the ship and the crew, he had to present this information to the captain. He chose to see Salid in person. "Computer, where is Captain Salid?" [Captain Salid is in his ready room.] "Is he alone?" [No one else is indicated.] Taking with him the PADD that contained his official report, Sanok began his trek to see the captain. (USS Rosenante - Captain's Ready Room - Lt. Sanok - Day 1 - 0810) After receiving permission from Captain Salid to enter, Sanok stood before his commanding officer in the typical, stiff, Vulcan pose. "Here is my report on the Asrai mission, sir," said Sanok, placing the PADD on Salid's desk. "There is also something not in the report that I need to discuss with you." He paused. "It is about Ensign Signos. May I speak freely, Captain?" (reply Salid) (posted by Bob B.) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Bridge - 2O-CTAC Lt. sg Ben Soma- day 1- 0801) After leaving the ready room Ben returned to the tactical station and set about his preparations for the Captains Cotillion. He composed a message inviting the crew and any civilian aboard how wished to attend, he even stated that all crew had to spend a minimum of two hours at the dance as per Salid's instruction. He would visit all departments heads later to work out a schedule that would ensure all crew had enough time to attend, then he sent the message to every console on the ship. Then he composed another message to send to the Asrai stating all who wish to attend the dance were welcome. He knew everyone on the ship would be looking forward to it, that is except Sanok. His friend preferred his solitude as was never fond of social gatherings, he wouldn't look forward to the event. He still had to speak with chance about setting up the bar and getting some real alcohol, maybe Sanok could pull a few strings with Rupert and then there was the Asrai who may have some alcoholic beverages they may like to barter for. He still had music to think about, what to serve, and how to arrange everything. He had a lot to do in a few days, he needed help in many ways. Maybe the operator of the Trade Winds would have some ideas about what to serve and how to go about it, he'd stop by later to check that out, he could even speak with Darsel or Jamal about some Asrai dishes. Then he had to talk things over with Marah, they had a wedding to plan and the sooner the better. Sanok would of course be his best man, he'd ask Tom to stand for him too along with Steve and maybe Eian. Marah being Bajoran would likely want the fifty girls as per their custom but she may have to settle for a smaller bridal party. So much to do and so little time, he always liked a challenge. He'd need to let his parents know about his and Marah's plans, they'd want to be present for that. He wondered what they were doing now, had his father bought another freighter or was he still staying at their residence on Earth? He hadn't spoken to his parents in a few weeks so he had no idea what was going on, if his father hadn't shipped out yet it was only a matter of time before he did. So now he was stuck doing BS errands like talking to squid captains and taking their officers away from them ‘for the good of the fleet’, but Hank was a good Marine and orders are orders. ~It does what it’s told.~ he mused to himself. “We are with-in range now, Colonel.” Came the Corporal’s announcement. “Good, hail them.” He ordered. “Hoo-rah, channel open, sir.” The Corporal said over-enthusiastically. “USS Rosenante, this is Colonel Henry Smith of the Marines, whom do I have the pleasure of speaking to?” he said. He was now standing more out of habit then any particular reason. (Reply Salid) “Good day to you Captain, we have a lot to discuss you and I.” Smith said. He had a look on his face, the same look the doctor comes out with after surgery to tell the family that they failed to save the patient. (Reply Salid) “I figured with our correspondences and your fancy sensors seeing me a sector away that you would be ready. Your ready room then. I suspect that we’ll be docking before the top of the hour?” Smith looked to the Corporal off screen who gave him a nod. “My driver says we will be at your ship in less than an hour.” (Reply Salid) “Ten after then. Semper Fi Captain. Smith out.” And the Corporal cut the channel. (Reply Salid) (USS Rosenante – Shuttle Bay One – AG Marine Command – XO COL Henry Smith – 0903) Hank stepped on to the gangway, his aging body still held the spring in its step of a much younger man. His pure silver hair and weathered skin was testament to his true age. He looked back to the Corporal. “Finish the post-flights and see to our rooms with the quarter master.” “Hoo-rah, Sir.” The enlisted man responded unquestioningly. Smith turned to the retune that Salid had sent to show him the way to the ready room. “..and just who the hell are you?” Smith asked in his no-nonsense tone. (Reply who-ever is sent) “Then lead the way.” He said his tone brightening just a bit. As they walked a bit, Smith asked, “You ever thought of joining the Marines?” Smith asked. (Reply who-ever is sent) (USS Rosenante – Ready Room – AG Marine Command – XO COL Henry Smith -0910) Hank sounded the ‘doorbell’ for lack of a better word, and was quickly told to enter. (Reply Salid) “Thanks for having me Captain. I wish we were meeting under other circumstances.” He said regrettably. (Reply Said) (Posted by Todd) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Ready Room - CO- Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid- day 1- 0808) =^= Captain we have an incoming communication for you from Colonel Smith with Starfleet Marines.=^= Xim reported from the bridge. Ahmed turned and raised his viewer to receive the incoming hail, even as he tapped his commbadge and replied, "Put him through to my ready room, Lieutenant." =^= Aye sir.=^= A moment later the Seal of the United Federation of Planets was replaced by the face of a Starfleet marine. A streak of gray hair on the man's head reminded Ahmed how quickly he had climbed the chain of command during the civil war. The man on the screen was at least twenty years his elder. =^=USS Rosenante, this is Colonel Henry Smith of the Marines, whom do I have the pleasure of speaking to?=^= he said. He was now standing rather than sitting. "Colonel Smith, this is Captain Salid. Welcome to our little corner of the universe." Ahmed replied. =^=Good day to you Captain, we have a lot to discuss you and I.=^= Smith said. his face was impassive and Ahmed realized that whatever he was supposed to discuss with the colonel must be unpleasant. "I understand, I've been expecting you, although truthfully, I don't know the details of what we are supposed to discuss. I assume it's a matter of some importance, so why don't you meet me in my ready room when you arrive. I'll send an escort so you can find the way quickly." =^=I figured with our correspondences and your fancy sensors seeing me a sector away that you would be ready. Your ready room then. He had a suspicion, but until it could be confirmed, he preferred not to speculate too much. He tapped his commbadge, "Salid to Raschen" (reply Raschen) "Chance, I have a Marine Colonel named Henry Smith, arriving in shuttle bay three in about an hour. I'd like for you to meet him and escort him to my ready room. I'd like for you to take your time on the trip and get a good feel for the man. After we've spoken, I'd like to get your impression of him." (reply Raschen) "Thank you Lieutenant. Salid out." There was a chime at his door almost immediately after he closed the channel to Raschen and Salid shifted his attention to Sanok as he stepped through the door. "Good morning Lieutenant. It's very fortuitous that you should report here. I had something I wanted to discuss with you. But first what do you have for me?" He asked. "Here is my report on the Asrai mission, sir," said Sanok, placing the PADD on Salid's desk. "There is also something not in the report that I need to discuss with you." He paused. "It is about Ensign Signos. May I speak freely, Captain?" Ahmed picked up the PADD and set it aside for the moment. "Of course lieutenant, Permission to speak freely granted, provided that you have a seat." Once Sanok had taken a seat, Ahmed continued, "What is it you have on your mind Sanok?" (reply Sanok, Raschen) Daniel Greene ------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Ready Room, Lt. Sanok, Day 1, 0812) Salid said, "Of course, Lieutenant. Permission to speak freely granted, provided that you have a seat." Sanok obliged the captain, though he didn't understand why Humans were so insistent on such things. "What is it you have on your mind, Sanok?" "I have been observing Ensign Signos since our encounter with the Borg. Her skills and abilities go beyond what is typical for a Starfleet Sec/Tac officer. Normally, this would not be anything unusual, as there are advanced courses and duties in Starfleet one could join. However, there is more to her than this. When in a combat situation, she changes. Something inside her snaps. It is as though another person takes control and works through her. I have found that when in this state, she not only relishes combat, she seems to need to cause as much damage, harm, and suffering as she can. She becomes brutal. Using her walking sticks that had blades hidden in them, I watched her slash and hack Asrai Banes far beyond what was necessary. The fact that she carried such a weapon in the first place, is cause for great concern. In Starfleet, we carry phasers. We do not use tactical circlets, subspace sniper rifles, or hidden blades. We do what we can to eliminate an adversary, preferably by stunning and not killing, and certainly without barbarity." Sanok paused. The room was eerily silent. "As Chief of Security, it is my responsibility to protect the ship and the crew. To do that, I must be aware of anyone, or anything, that is a threat. I must also report any such threats I see. Captain, I feel Ensign Signos is a danger to us. I do not trust her, and dare not turn my back on her. I must ask that you put her off the ship, and have her confined in a maximum security facility until whatever is happening to her is discovered and corrected." (reply Salid) (posted by Bob B.) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Holodeck 3 -SOps/QM -LT Chance Raschen -0815) Chance hadn't been completely himself for quite some time. 'Out of sorts' you could say. He just mentally seemed to be pre-occupied. He had decided to go for a horseback ride. The program he chose to ride in was the same one that the Civil War military tribunal decided he must spend time in after he lead a mutiny on the USS Dennison. So he slowly rode through the countless number of beings, all of whom he had been held responsible for the death of. He had been a privateer, ship's captain, a leader of 'men', a warrior, a harbinger of death. As Temerarious, Raschen had been held responsible for every killing that he or anyone under his command or directive killed. individuals and entire starship crews alike. Finally, after riding through the sea of endless victims, Lieutenant Raschen (aka Captain Temerarious) reached his destination. A small white old west style chapel. After getting down off the horse, all of Chance's victims vanished leaving just the church, horse, a well, and desert. Inside were a few children and his beloved late wife, T'Lela. Chance walked down the center isle, he sat in the front pew next to T'Lela. The program was designed so that he could not have any of the characters removed. Not even temperarily removed. He was having a crisis of conscience and wanted to be alone. Somewhere along the way, the lines between Raschen and Temerarious had become blurred. In many ways he was longing to be the privateer and in others the Starfleet officer. He couldn't be one anymore, and was having difficulty being the other. Was there a way he could be both? Chance could no longer 'turn' Temerarious on and off. His experience has been extreamly handy. But offers keep poping up in his mail from a unorthadox source offering him a captaincy in their fleet. SFI offered him a job doing running classified equipment through pirate patroled sections of sp ace to starships along the borders. Being the Quartermaster on the Rosenante reminds him a lot of being a quartermaster on his grandfather's ship, SS Bounty. Perhaps that was it? He didn't have to be Raschen or Temerarious, but combine the two. Not really knowing what to do, Chance sat in the little church and prayed. (reply any iyw but not needed) (posted by Charlie R) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Holodeck 3 -SOps/QM -LT Chance Raschen -0825) =^=Salid to Raschen=^= Raschen stopped his praying, lifted his head up and tapped his comm-badge. "Chance Raschen, the Quartermaster, Colonel. After I escort you to Captain Salid, I will see that you two are squared away." Raschen said with respect in his voice but not in his eyes. “Then lead the way.” He said his tone brightening just a bit. As they walked a bit, Smith asked, “You ever thought of joining the Marines?” Smith asked. "No sir. When I was a privateer captain with the Irregulars during the 2nd Fed-Car war and later as a 'government contractor', I found that I wasn't quite right for the Corps. However, I have worked okay with a few Marines and Rangers in my time." he responded. It was totally and completely wrong, but Raschen felt the kid could use a little cheering up. then he tapped his badge "Sanok, this is Raschen. I need a favor." The schematics were still visible on the PADD Salid gave him during the meeting. The duty roster was set and the crews were using the downtime to get to maintenance items, upgrades and system tweaks. Matrix noted in their report that the gamma crew had completely cleaned all of the shuttle bays, shuttle maintenance, the away team staging areas and all of the marine bays. The away mission had left them cluttered and dirty. Now they were worthy of a formal inspection. Matrix assigned alpha shift to start working on the navigational and lateral sensor array upgrades and calibration. The tactical sensor arrays would be beta shifts responsibility along with inspecting the ships environmental systems. "Computer, message to alpha and beta shift supervisors. I'd like alpha and beta shift to coordinate and work on inspection and upgrades to the weapons systems. After all the mayhem on Asrai Prime had been dispensed with, he had been able to do what he loved: study the universe - or at least this small corner of it. The Captain had begun to establish a Federation Embassy with the planet and he had started to work with the Asrai to help them with scientific re-establishment. There was much to do, but much was there already, some of it would take just some organizing, some would take some re-thinking by the Asrai. There were some of the people who were resistant to the astronomic studies and some were resistant on all levels - stuck under the idea that the Oracle was the only source for truth in their discoveries. Visk, not being a people person was having troubles with this set. "No, no, the Oracle has not had a say in this - the Oracle no longer exists! Please understand this." =/\=I cannot be party to knowledge that the Oracle is not aware of, you must be hiding something from the Oracle.=/\= "I am hiding nothing!" Please, just consider the newer technology for use by the students?" =/\=How can you be sure that the Oracle is gone? I have never seen the Oracle, but he has existed for as long as I have known.=/\= "I am sure because my Captain has told me so," for the fifth time today, Visk tried to explain, sounding more exasperated than ever, "and I see my Captain almost daily. The Oracle was as mortal as you or I, he only lived so long by artificial means, those means were taken from him, as is only fair and he succumbed to reality. Please, I beg you to consider it, just consider the technology." Sounding rather upset at the idea that the Oracle was mortal, the man on the other end of the commlink harumphed. =/\=I wil CONSIDER it, but I don't see why this technology can't be approved by the Oracle.=/\= "Thank you." He had come up with little more than excuses that sounded childish and pathetic to him. He decided to approach the Captain himself before he could be called into his office, and simply lay out all the facts for the man. Ahmed seemed like a very reasonable person to Parker, and based on their sessions together, he felt that the first step toward regaining trust between them was for the counselor to take direct responsibility for what was his fault. He rang the chime and awaited permission to enter (NRPG: assuming Salid grants him entrance) (reply Salid) "Sir, do you have a few moments?" (reply Salid) Parker sat down in the chair in front of the Captain, folded his hands on Salid's desk, and was very blunt. "I came here to apologize, Sir, and to admit that I've kept something from you. Lt. Fraiser and I are in a relationship. We have been since before the mission. It's recently come to my attention that we were empathically bonded and as such, my judgment was impaired. For some reason, I didn't bring our relationship to your attention before the mission. It was foolish of me to fail to notice that something was off. It put everyone on the away mission in direct danger, and it inhibited my ability to be an effective leader. I know this to be the case because after Lt. Fraiser was rescued, I noticed a difference immediately in my ability to command. Since the mission Lt. Fraiser and I have controlled the empathic bond and this shouldn't happen again. But I'm fully willing to accept whatever punishment you feel is necessary, Sir." He sat still, even though he wanted to lean back. He had seldom been in trouble of any kind since he was released from juvenile detention. The feeling of getting into trouble rubbed him the wrong way--it was like fingernails on a chalkboard. So ingrained into his head was the notion of shaping up and flying right, that having to come to the Captain and admit that he had done something irreconcilable was one of the toughest things he could imagine. (posted by Matthew Locke) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Holodeck 2 - COUNS Parker Davis and Lt. JG Tayla Fraiser - Day 1 - 2100) Since they had "fixed" their connection, Tayla felt closer to Parker than ever. It touched her that he had built a door, and she was excited to see what he had in store for them in the holodeck. Her hands were even beginning to tremble and felt a little sweaty so she rubbed them on her jeans and took a deep breath before rounding the corner to see him standing there, waiting. "Hi." she said, smiling at him. "Hi," he replied. "I wasn't really sure where we should go after that mission...but after so much unfamiliarity, I decided to start from somewhere I was familiar. Would you like to see where I grew up?" She looked at him and grinned as she replied, "Sure." "Now before we go in, I have to ask...Detroit looked a little different from when I was very little and when I was a little older. Some economic problems and some violence problems were pretty prevalent when I was a teenager, and it started to go downhill. So which Detroit do you want to see?" She smiled softly and said, "I want to see what ever you wanna show me." She took his hand and continued, "I'm happy with either." Parker nodded, and said, "Then a combination of both." He plugged in the orders to the panel and then the doors opened, and there was a winter wonderland on Joseph Campbell Drive waiting for them. He grinned and asked, "Have you ever seen snow?" The sidewalk had been plowed and there were two-foot-high piles of snow on either side. It was afternoon, and cars parked on either side of the narrow, historic street were covered with weather-treated canvas to protect them from the mountains of snow burying them. "For that matter, have you ever driven a historic car in the snow?" he asked, and laughed as one rolled by with thick snow tires giving it traction on the road. It was Motor City, after all. She looked around her and said, "No. Can't say that i have. This is amazing." She shivered a little in the cold and said, "Where now?" He wrapped his arm around her and rubbed her shoulder to warm her up. "Why don't we take shelter in one of my favorite places," he asked, and took one last look around at the neighborhood where he grew up, with a few of the historic houses falling apart in the economic downturn, but still vibrant with activity. "Computer," he ordered, "take us to Greenfield Village and the Henry Ford Museum. And get me a horse and carriage." They rematerialized in a quaint little village that was actually a museum. Historic houses from all around America, that had anything to do with the Motor City, were brought to Greenfield Village which sat next to the Henry Ford Museum. A central street was lined with little shops and homes with plaques and benches all around for visitors. Parker hopped up into the carriage of the horse that was in front of him and then extended his hand down. "Madam, would you care for a ride?" She smiled and said, "Why thank you kind sir." She hopped up into the carriage and smiled at him. This was as close to perfect as she had wanted. Lying her head on his shoulder, she sighed happily. The horse seemed a little annoyed at having to move in such cold weather but he didn't hesitate to bring them to the door of the massive museum that had undergone many renovations in the past few hundred years. It was a building dedicated to vehicles and inventions that began in Detroit. It was a monument to American engineering. It was one of Parker's favorite places on Earth. He hopped down and offered his hand to Tayla. "What do you think so far?" Looking back at the scene before her, she said, "It's interesting. Not what I'm used to coming from LA. Sun and hot weather, Swimming and bikinis." She said with a wink. She held onto his hand, fearful that this would be the last time she did. Quietly, she leant against the door of the museum and said, "Why here? What makes this place so special to you?" "This is my home," he answered, and opened the door for her. They stepped inside and stomped the snow off of their boots. Parker inhaled deeply and said, "Damn, they even got the smell right. You smell that? That's motor oil. They run the cars here," he pointed up, "open the vents and run the cars to keep the engines working." He led her down one of the halls. He had previously specified that the museum was 'closed', so he took down a rope that said, 'This exhibit is currently closed' and led her through. "I used to come here as a little kid. Even after the economy tanked, it was still up and running. It was always a huge attraction for people from all over the galaxy. And when I was here," he said, looking at the cars around him and remembering the 2001 Ford Taurus that he and his dad had restored, "I felt closer to my dad after he was gone." She put her arms around him and said, "You still miss him. That's understandable. I miss my dad everyday." She stopped. Closing her eyes, she remembered the terrible events that had followed her father's death. The downward spiral that she had gone on and it still burned within her. Biting her lip, she walked away from him for a moment. Looking at some of the exhibits, she folded her arms around her and leant on one of the bonnets of the vehicles and sighed. Parker saw one of his favorite collections of vehicles--the Presidential Limousines. He grinned. "Hey, Tayla, look at that," he said, and pointed to the limousines in the section of the room not far from where they were. He led her past Theodore Roosevelt's horsedrawn carriage and directly to John F. Kennedy's limousine. "This is the limousine that President John F. Kennedy was shot in," he explained, and then tried the door to the backseat. In his best JFK voice, he said, "Want to go for a ride, Jackie?" Lifting herself up, she wiped her eyes and said, "Only if you're coming with me, Jack." She got into the limo and sat quietly. Looking around her, everything was so opulent it took her breath away. Closing her eyes, she allowed the smells and the sounds of her surroundings to wash over her and take away the thoughts of her father. Once in the car, he shut the door and turned to her. It felt private now. Private and comfortable. "I like our link," he said, and she smiled at him, and took his hand. He continued. "I trust you." She smiled and kissed him gently. " I trust you too and that's why i feel ready for something else." He paused, his mind racing. He felt physically ready, as well, but he didn't want her to rush into something so soon after they were connected. "Here? Are you sure?" he asked, wrapping his arms around her. She grinned and said, "Let's put it this way, have you ever made love to a telepath?" He laughed, and slipped his shirt off. "There's a first time for everything," he said, grinning back. She leant forward and kissed his chest softly. Suddenly a thought entered her mind. Looking up at him she said, "You have done this before?" She hadn't expected this to be that special and now she felt guilty for being the more experienced one of the two. How, exactly, could he tell her? It was embarrassing, being 28 years old and having never been with a woman. From 15-17, he was incarcerated and isolated from girls completely. During his probationary period, he was watched very closely and had a curfew at the Institute for Gifted Children. At Starfleet Academy, he had started relationships but they always seemed to fizzle before any action could occur, and then he had started an assignment at a penitentiary--that was about as isolated as one could get. The closest he had ever come was when he went back to Starfleet Medical for his research assignment, but that ended badly when, during the evening when he thought it would happen, she broke up with him. His track record was pathetic. "Um..." he started, and placed a finger on her shoulder as he looked down, and then up into her eyes. "Would you believe me if I said no?" She looked into his eyes and said, "It wouldn't matter to me either way." She gently pulled his head to hers and kissed him, passionately. ~Thank you, God, you seemed to have found me the right woman,~ was his last thought before all thoughts concentrated on the task at hand. ********************* Afterward, Parker stared up at the ceiling of the president's car and said softly, "I think it's odd that we've just christened our relationship in the same place where Jackie and JFK's relationship ended." She smiled as she lay her head on his chest and said, "That's true. I have to say for someone who professes not to know what they were doing, you certainly did very well." "I didn't say I didn't know, I just said I was inexperienced," he said with a chuckle. One didn't become a counselor without the topic of sex, a very prevalent thing in Federation culture, coming up a few times. Then he said, more seriously, "Tayla, I understand now why nothing else worked out until now. God wanted to save this experience for me until the exactly right person was in my life. And you are that exactly right person." It wasn't the best worded thing he had ever said in his life, but he meant every word. She smiled and said, "And I'm glad. You are amazing, Parker. It still gives me chills that we got this so right so fast." He smiled at her and said, "Shall we get out of President Kennedy's car?" She nodded and said, "I think we should. There's somewhere I want to show you. Seen as you've shown me somewhere that means a lot to you, now it's my turn." "First should we change?" he asked, and then they both laughed. They put their uniforms back on and exited the car, and Parker said, "I'll go wherever you want, as long as we can come back here at some point. Do you promise?" She smiled and said, "Of course." She took his hand and said, "Computer, load programme Fraiser Delta 9." As the museum melted away, the room was replaced by a small and intimate bar. Turning to Parker, she said, "This is O'Reilly's. It's a bar just off the main parade in Los Anegles. It's a very special place to me." He smiled as he took in the atmosphere. Celtic paraphernalia was scattered on the upper ledge of the wall and there was a large screen for watching sports. "Old-style," he said with a grin. "A screen instead of a hologram. How come? Not enough room in here when a popular team is playing?" "That's the point. It's all part of the charm." She grinned. Walking towards the bar, she ordered a small glass of wine. Taking a sip, she said, "I'll be right back." She walked towards the small stage at the back of the pub where she knew her flute would be waiting and smiled. This was something she had shared with him once before but not like this. Sitting down on the stool, she reached for the microphone and said, "This is for someone very special to me." and she began to play. He sat back in the bar and listened as she played. It was amazing listening to her. It was as if she was saying a prayer with the music. It entered his mind and set him at peace. He didn't want to close his eyes, though, because she was so beautiful. When the tune was finished, he clapped and stood and then yelled, "ENCORE!" at the top of his lungs. It was a bar atmosphere, after all. Smiling widely, she returned to his side and said, "So.... I take it you liked it?" "Liked it would be a vast understatement," he said, and gave her a kiss. "How did you learn to play the flute?" Taking a sip of her wine, she replied, "It's something my mother taught me. She plays as well. It helps me settle my mind after having the barriers up all day." Parker nodded. "I think I'd like to learn an instrument," he said, and gave this some thought. "I think I've always wanted to play the piano." "Then why don't you? Take the time and learn." She said with a smile. Slipping her arm around his waist, she said, "I could imagine a great party here." Sighing, she could feel her eyes growing heavy. The events of the day had brought a wave of tiredness to her and she turned to Parker and said, "I think i need to sleep. You've worn me out!" Parker laughed. "Computer, end program. I'll take you home." He smiled at her and wrapped his arm around her as they left the holodeck. "Thank you," he said. "For what?" she asked as they walked, "I didn't do anything, well not much." "You gave me a wonderful first time I know I couldn't have gotten anywhere else without significant judgment," he said, and leaned over to kiss her cheek. "So thank you." As they reached the doors to her quarters, she stopped and said, "Well, this is me." She pulled him close and said, "I know i said i wanted to sleep but i don't think i could do that without you beside me. Would you come and just curl up with me. Nothing more?" He grinned. "I'd love to," he said, and the couple retired for the night. Jessica Signos - Day 2 - 0500) Jessica woke early not knowing what the day would surly bring but she wanted to get started working on something before the time had passed her by. She knew the rumors well enough that soon Mr and Ms Jackson would be proud parents. Jessica wanted to do something nice for them. It seemed recently her life was consumed by one dark secret after another. Jessica wanted to do something she could be proud of. She replicated the necessary items needles, thread, some blue and pink cloth, a couple of patters and some cotton. Jessica was a lot of things more than she ever knew but a seamstress she was not. It took nearly ten minutes just to threat the needle before she could finally get to work. Jessica knew she could of replicated the items she wanted but that was the point she wanted something special for the young kids, something that a replicator couldn't give them. A song came to her head has she worked a song known to Jessica it was a song she picked up from her mother. Her mother taught her the lyrics at an young age so she could sing it in it's native language. The memories brought tears to Jessica's eyes as yet again stuck her finger. She winched has the words came to her lips. She sung the words has she worked getting lost in her hopes and dreams. She snapped out of her dreams, For they were only dreams. Dried her eyes and covered what was soon to be created. Tonight was biochem and he was focusing on the prtein structures found in common among most bi-pedal species. The servers knew Visk well enough to leave him be for at least 30 minutes before coming to see if he was hungry - Visk didn't always eat here, he usually studied here, but it was more for being close to others without having to share quarters or entertain. He'd been absorbed in his work for a good 45 minutes before the fresh-faced server came over. "Can I get you anything tonight, sir?" Without looking up, Visk recognized the drawl of Jif, a Bolian server who made an excellent Jibelian berry salad. "Your specialty Mister Jif, please, and a Terellian Hot Chocolate?" The blue head bobbed and Jif hurried away to fill the order. Visk smiled and went back to reading while he waited. Some of the people Tom recognized some he didn't. There was one officer that seemed familiar. ~What was the officer's name~ Tom wondered. He continued to try and remember the name as he sipped a decaffeinated coffee. The officer was a Denubian. This was a race Tom had rarely encountered m. Once they entered the Holodeck those that decided to attend this escape were transported to a far of land. A small valley surround by snow caped mountains. Before them laid a cobble stone walk way that led up a slight incline and disappeared into the mist. Following the path before them the weary travelers would soon see they came to find. Its form slowing materializing from the fog, A large Japanese mansion. The air around the mansion was filled with the smells of exotic flowers from all around the Alpha and Beta quadrant. It was an beckoning aroma that dared those that had come to pass the guards at the main entrance and enter the manor ground. The doors opened to reveal the splendor of the manor with in, a large central hall with statues marble, gold, and jade lined the walkways and the two main arches that lead deeper with the mansion. Tapestries of red hung from the main hall each depicting different mythical beings of healing and beauty. Two paths lead from the main hall one lined with tapestries of royal violet and the softest of silks would soon call the females back to the waiting changing rooms. The other walk way lined of blue would of been for the use of any men, so sad none were present to take such advantage. Beyond the changing rooms lied the center hot spring, a giant pool where the water was always hot, and soothing. Where natural mineral would help promote healing, and better skin. A waterfall could be heard over the soft music that filled the hall. As it played it's own relaxing melody. Tables lined the great hall the central hall filled each filled with delicacies from all the far reaches of space. It was clear Jessica had spent the better majority and nearly all her off time seeing to the completion of this feast and day for her female counterparts. (Reply: any) (Posted by: Bill W ) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Holodeck 3- Japanese Bathhouse – Trauma Surgeon – Ensign (Dr) V’Nara Oren – 0910) V’Nara wasn’t quite sure what to expect with this ‘Japanese Bathhouse’ she was invited to. So she looked it up, and these bath houses could have water with temperature up to 66–90°C. While she was always up to new experiences, she didn’t know if she could handle that kind of a temperature variation. While surely she would not get burned, it would still might feel at least uncomfortable. She also didn’t know what exactly to wear so, she wore comfortable relaxed attire that could be easily changed incase she was wearing inappropriate garments. V’Nara was still in amazement about the wonders of this century. When she went through the academy the Excelsior class was the ship of the line, and holodecks were an experimental technology. She walked into the holodeck eyes almost wide in amazement. The scene before her had already put her in a relaxed state. The small valley nestled in snow capped mountains that reminded her of her frozen home-world of Andor. The large building before her was decorated with flowers of vibrant colors that V’Nara was not familiar with. She assumed they were from the Terran system, because horticulture was not one of her scientific disciplines. As she approached the doors two members of the staff bowed deeply as she approached and opened both the doors widely. The mist that came out of the opening V’Nara knew wasn’t steam, but surely looked the part, was an early warning to V’Nara the actual temperature inside. She stepped in and was surprised that it wasn’t as stifling as she thought it would be. She looked around for Ensign Signos and was pleased that she found her quickly. “Ensign Signos, I’m sorry I’m late, a surgery ran over time.” She explained. However she decided that Jessica should be thanked for her efforts and it didn't take Josh much effort to have someone already on the surface to buy and bring up a potted Lunette plant. Josh wrote the card herself. It simply said 'Thank you,,, Mother.' She knew Jessica would understand and meeting Kitty outside the holodeck doors they both walked in together to hear the news of an impeding ma rage. Josh smiled and waved to the servitors. "Congratulations Marah. This calls for champagne. A glass for everyone and possibly a thimble full for Dahlia here." Turning to Dahlia she smiled at her. "One tiny glass of champers won't hurt you or the twins now. You are well past that stage, however I would suggest that Maybe you shouldn't go into the hot pool given your condition. I believe that there is a cooler one and Kitty, Marah and I will always be on hand to monitor you." Turning to Marah Josh smiled. "It seems that congratulations are in order. She raised her glass and looking around the room she caught everyone's eye. Raising her glass she smiled at everyone, "To Marah and Ben." Things were perfect here. It was just the place for a nice relaxing time before the dance the following night. She had found the perfect dress and had succeeded in hiding it from Parker, despite him trying every trick in the book to find out what she was planning on wearing. Thinking about him brought a smile to her face. He was a fantastic man and she loved him but it still scared her how quickly things had happened between them. Spotting a bench, she sat and began to think over what had happened in the last month, in particular her behaviour on the away mission. Suddenly a shadow fell across her view. Looking up, she saw Josh and said, “Josh, isn't this place wonderful?” (Reply Caskie) Smiling, she replied, “True. I have a programme that I like to run but it's nowhere near as opulant as this place.
