Tom had a frequency in mind that he knew had not been sued for a long time. he doubted that SF Command would check anything other than what they had used five years ago. "I have something in mind" replied the OPS Chief. (reply: any on bridge) The skipper also suggested a 'dummy' transponder so that SF Intelligence and Security would find it. The hidden one would hopefully be their 'ace in the hole' incase things turned nasty. Jackson quickly typed out wha the had in mind and sent it to Lt Matrix - Steve was a resourceful soul and would recognize what Jackson wanted. "Do't worry skipper" Tom smiled as the captain issued additional instructions. The Co spoke to Chance and informed the Security Chief that the FO would be in command until he returned and Salid was certified as being the same one that left the ship. Ahmed also made Lt Cmdr Sullivan acting FO until he returned. ~Hmm, wise precaution~ Tom mused. The skipper heaed off the bridge. (reply: any present) (posted by: Bill) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Bridge, ACSO Louis Remey- Day 1731, 0508) The whole situation stank to quote an ancient euphamism, it smelled of suspicion and hostility. The Rosenante along with quite a number of Federation vessels had been seemingly snatched out of normal space/time and deposited unceremoniously nearly five years into the future. One would have thought the Federation would have been happy, no ecstatic to have them back but they had been rather rudely ordered to Khitomer and forced to await Starfleet's pleasure. No communications, no ability to move about and investigate the circumstances of their time travel while forced to remain on the ship like a bunch of criminals. Other fleet ships had formed a cordon about the system to insure they did not try to break their enforced quarantine. The number of ships so isolated with them were on the order of dozens and more were arriving by the minute and now the Captain had been ordered to beam down blind to the planets surface... alone. No wonder some of the crew out of a desire to insure the captains safety were talking with him about measures to track him while he was down on the planet. Louis was on bridge duty while the CSO was in his office choreographing inquiries into the question of why and how they had been transported through time to the here and now. The ships that accompanied them were from all over the 52nd fleet, the Spectre, Mithrandir, Boudicca and Hades to name just a few. The Furious was also here, the ship that had been at Geneva which along with the Rosenante was mired in the midst of a hush order which he had felt little inclination to pry into. He heard Salid in the background giving orders to Raschen and his FO then speaking to medical, the Captain was certainly thorough as well as a good commanding officer. No doubt those things went hand in hand. More discussion and orders followed, including some to Louis himself. "Ensign I'd ike for you to take charge of a special project for me. I want you to covertly scan the rest of the ship's here and let me know how many and which of them have been affected by the same or similar affect that launched us forward. Then I'd like to see if you can extrapolate anything about where this effect may have originated or what may have caused it." Louis turned the chair away from the console to look the Captain in the eye. He nodded. "Aye sir, I'll get right to it." Salid then immediately exited the bridge, the giving of orders apparently finished. As he did so Louis turned back to the console as he mumbled to himself. "How to get telemetry without them knowing it... hmmm. A low powered passive scan then is in order." He was setting the scans up as Commander Caskie was taking over the bridge. (Reply: Any) (Posted by Charles) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge - 2O/CTAC - Lt Cmdr T'Larah Sullivan - 0510) Five years in as many moments. The crew busy trying to catch the vessel up to the now. T'Larah considered herself one of the fortunate ones. The reason being that she was one of the few crew members that didn't have any close family waiting for her. Other then her uncle she actually had no biological family to speak of. Her uncle would just presume that T'Larah's disappearance was a unfortunate but logical conclusion of her Star Fleet service. Captain Salid briefed the bridge crew on the current situation. Soon he got to the meat and potatoes. Ahmed turned next to Raschen, "Once I leave this ship, Commander Caskie will be the Commanding officer until we certify that I am well and able to return to command. That said, when I am returned I am to remain under constant guard until that time. No one comes aboard this ship with out commander Caskie's direct orders." (Reply Lt. Raschen) "Effective upon my return and recertification you will be the acting First officer." the Captain said when he turned to Sullivan. "Yes, sir. Caskie and I will keep her in one piece, 'til you get back." she said. (Reply Cmdr Caskie, Captain Salid, Lt. Raschen) (Posted by Todd) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Bridge- CSEC- LT Chance Raschen- 0515) Ahmed turned next to Raschen, "Once I leave this ship, Commander Caskie will be the Commanding officer until we certify that I am well and able to return to command. That said, when I am returned I am to remain under constant guard until that time. No one comes aboard this ship without commander Caskie's direct orders.” Pursing his lips as he slowly shook his head, Raschen shrugged saying “I don’t whole heartedly agree, but I’ll do it. Now if you will excuse me sir, I need to go below.” The captain then turned his attention to Sullivan as Chance sent a read only message to Nunez stating that all security personnel are to meet in the ‘office’ ASAP before he headed for the turbo-lift. (USS Rosenante- Security Offices- CSEC- LT Chance Raschen- 0525) The Chief of Security didn’t walk at his normal ‘gotta get it done’ pace. Instead it was more of a ‘think it through’ kind of pace. When he entered the main area of the security offices his three main officers seemed to be in a heated debate with some of the NCOs and junior enlisted. Voices raised, tempers began to rise, and Chance quietly watched as the ‘hurricane’ built up in strength. Being the wise acre he could be, Raschen simply raised his hand like a school boy needing to ask the teacher a question. After a couple of minutes, the former privateer whistled so loud that most everyone in the room stopped talking. Towards those that continued talking he yelled “If you shut the Hell up; I’ll tell you what I know!!!” at them. That got everyone’s attention. As his security crew looked at him, Chance started to explain “I know I have kept y’all in the dark for the last day or so. I’m sorry for that, but I didn’t know myself until just a little while ago. Here is the short version of what I do know. We are currently in a Very, Very bad spot right now. Something happened, I don’t know what for certain, but we have been escorted to Khitomer by three Starfleet vessels; and we are currently under a communications blackout. The skipper is beaming down to the surface without a security detail as he was ordered to do. “And as for us ladies and gentlemen…” Chance stated as he smirked and shrugged “we quietly prepare for battle. No, I repeat, No electronic communications for routine use until further notice. Hostile contact is the only acceptable exception; understood?” (Reply any) “I’m gonna see about using some folks from operations as messengers or runners. Now let me get all this put out and then I’ll answer questions. V’Shera, I want the armory emptied out, not a single weapon left in there, when that is done I want you to assist Mr. Rosenbauer with the prepositioning of weapons troops and any other assets we may have.” Chance then turned to Mike and Marta “I want you two to lead up the planning to repel-boarders, with the help of V’Shera, if we are attacked.” “Once all that is done, we will begin planning on overcoming our next obstacle. Are there any questions, comments, or concerns?” (Reply any) (Reply Nunez, Rosenbauer, and V’Shera if possible) Posted by Charlie ------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Bridge- CSEC- LT Chance Raschen- 0555) Raschen stepped out onto the Bridge from the turbo lift and made straight for the Operations station and Ensign Smith. When he got there he lightly tapped the other man on the shoulder as he began to quietly speak “Hey Robert, I need your help with something if you don’t mind.” (Reply Smith) “I need a detail of about 15 to 20 fast and agile beings that know how to navigate their way throughout this ship like no one else’s business. I don’t care what department they are currently in, I just don’t want them to be ‘Essential Personnel’. You know what I mean?” (Reply Smith) “I plan on using them as messengers between the defense positions and the bridge. I have my department on a electronic communications blackout as we make preparations in case we get boarded. Think you can find the folks I need?” (Reply Smith) Raschen patted the man on the shoulder again before walking over to LCDR Sullivan. She was talking with another crew member, so Chance patiently waited until she acknowledged him. (Reply Sullivan) “Just a couple of things ma’am; first I have security forces getting prepositioned, yet out of sight, and preparing to repel boarders if necessary at key locations throughout the ship. I have authorized them the use of any registered privately owned weapons my people may have, with the understanding that no private weapons may come onto the bridge without the skipper’s direct authorization.” (Reply Sullivan iyw) “I have my people on the same understanding that Captain Salid has with me about my personal array of weapons.” Then in an attempt to move on to the next subject, Raschen went straight to saying “The second ma’am is…well…I want copies of the tactical, and deck plans for our three escort ships, and if possible, the Steel Talons as well.” Raschen stated hesitantly yet matter-of-factly. (Reply Sullivan) (Reply Smith, Sullivan) Posted by Charlie ------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge - 2O/CTAC - Lt Cmdr T'Larah Sullivan - 0558) "I'll take that." T'Larah said to a tall young Midshipman who promptly handed her a PADD. She scanned the contents. It contained a report of the previous day's shift logs. She placed her thumb on the sensor 'signing' receipt of the document, and downloading it to the arm rest on the center seat. "Carry on." she told the young officer who took his PADD back and proceeded about his further duties. Chance was standing right behind the taller officer, and was revealed when the Midshipman went about his business. T'Larah was not surprised in the least, she had felt Raschen's presence even before she had sent the Midshipman on his way. Her hazel eye focused on Chance, acknowledging his presence. "Yes Lieutenant?" “Just a couple of things ma’am; first I have security forces getting prepositioned, yet out of sight, and preparing to repel boarders if necessary at key locations throughout the ship. I have authorized them the use of any registered privately owned weapons my people may have, with the understanding that no private weapons may come onto the bridge without the skipper’s direct authorization.” "Any weapons they use Mr Raschen will have to abide by current treaties and interstellar laws. Also if they are equipped with a stun setting, they will be placed on that setting until either myself, Commander Caskie or current standard operating procedures authorize an escalation of force," she explained. "We have to presume that these people are Star Fleet just following protocol. According to their records we must have been destroyed. They are doing what I would do in these circumstances. We don't want to alienate them and prove their suspicions unless they prove unworthy of our trust, but I like that you want to be prepared." “I have my people on the same understanding that Captain Salid has with me about my personal array of weapons.” Then in an attempt to move on to the next subject, Raschen went straight to saying “The second ma’am is…well…I want copies of the tactical, and deck plans for our three escort ships, and if possible, the Steel Talons as well.” Raschen stated hesitantly yet matter-of-factly. "We are currently being jammed to out of system sub-space traffic, so even if we had current codes to communicate with memory alpha, we couldn't," she began to explain. "Any focused scans or attempts to forcibly remove said information from the vessels themselves would correctly be interpreted as espionage. As we don't want to make such a move at this time. So any plans you get will have to come from the Rosenante's own data banks, which you already have clearance to obtain." she said. (Reply Lt Raschen) (Posted by Todd) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Main Engineering, ACEO Lieutenant Steven Matrix - Day 1731, 0631) Roughly sixteen people stood before Lieutenant Matrix as he leaned against the bulkhead looking over a PADD almost oblivious to the small crowd. Alpha and beta teams one and two were assembled in main engineering. Some looked excited, some confused and concerned why the call to assemble. The downtime made everyone tired and not as sharp as they should be. Matrix included. It was time to get to work. Matrix had to get the teams organized and on assignments. Everything had to look routine. "Okay everyone listen up. As you know most of the propulsion systems are currently offline due to diagnostics and various repairs. We need to get things back to a ready state in short order. Since the refit the injection systems are showing just over a three-percent drop in efficiency..." Matrix heard a few groans amount the crew. "Sir, three percent is more than acceptable levels in any ship in the fleet." responded Ensign Myers. "...and I trust by your professionalism that is totally unacceptable to you as well Ensign?" asked Matrix. The Ensign took the question as a decree..."Yes Sir, I do...of course." replied Ensign Myers. "Good, then Ensign I'm putting you in charge of beta team one...get on the injector issue. I want to know what's causing the problem and how you plan to fix it. Am I understood Ensign?" asked Matrix. "Aye Sir!" Ensign Lisa Myers was a second year engineering and propulsion officer known for her ability to solve problems. Matrix hoped his tone put a little fire in her belly and squelched any other disinterest among the crew. Matrix looked down at his PADD, "Okay....beta team two...Ensigns Olson, Covey, Chief Hamel and Crewman Boyle and Philips please assemble in the auxiliary engineer's office. Mister Olson, punch up the current status of the dual-warp core. There you will see your task. I want those systems checked and readied as quickly as possible. Get to it." ordered Matrix. "Sir...if I may?" asked Ensign Covey. "Yes Mister Covey, what is it?" replied Matrix. "Sir...the diagnostic routines aren't scheduled to end for another 4 to 5 hours...how do you expect us to address repairs and get those systems online?" asked Covey. Matrix smiled and looked up briefly pondering his response. "Well Mister Covey you and your team should converse and find a solution to that little stumbling block." said Matrix as he stepped back from the group slightly. "Folks, you all act like you're hoping for shore leave and don't want to get your hands dirty. We're on a new mission and you should all be ready to get back to work. We have some down time and I want things running at their best, that includes all of you. Shake out the cobwebs and lets get to work. Do I make myself clear?" ask Matrix. An astounding 'yes sir!' echoed throughout engineering. Matrix smiled. "Excellent. Alpha team one you are with me. Lieutenant Collins you will take alpha team two and start working on bringing the spiral drive system online. Please take a look at your task in the engineering logs. I've outlined the new start up procedure you need to follow. I want all primary and secondary propulsions systems online within 5 hours, including the spiral drive. We're going to test how hard we can push these systems." stated Matrix. Matrix looked around the room, everyone looked surprised at the formality, but appeared to be motivated. "Any questions?" A long pause and silence filled the room. Matrix laughed out loud, "Please ask questions if you have them, if not as a group please come and see me...lets get to work...dismissed!" said Matrix. (Reply none) (Posted by Steve) ------------------------- (Khitomer- Conference Room- CO, Capt. Ahmed Ibn Salid- Day 1731- 0645) Ahmed sat listening to the conversations between Admiral LaDona and some of the other captains. What he took from the exchange was something that he had not expected to hear. it boiled down into one very real, although relatively undefined category: fear. Starfleet command seemed afraid when the vast bulk of the 52nd fleet simply disappeared, to them, five years ago. That nervousness wasn't entirely unfounded, after all it had been the 52nd fleet that had technically turned the power struggle between Doenitz and LaDona into a hot civil war which had caused billions of deaths as a result of their infighting. To make matters worse, after the war had ended there had been witch hunts, and some factions of the old regime had seen fit to conspire to overthrow the president and take control of the Federation again. As much as the thoughts bothered him, that the 52nd fleet was still not trusted to do the right thing by the admiralty and the presidency, he had to admit at least to himself that they had a valid point of view. The sudden reappearance of so many ships at once, must have looked like the fulfillment of their worst case scenarios came back to haunt them. A large military force normally doesn't just disappear, only to suddenly reappear 5 years later. No warning, no sign of them at all for the entire duration of their missing period of time. This anomaly had preyed upon the fears that the remaining fleet had; fears that another civil war was brewing, perhaps or that some great unknown power had suddenly destroyed and then replaced a large number of Federation ships in the hope of infiltrating the UFP in preparation for some attack. And then there was LaDona himself. He had mentioned that he had come out of retirement. Somehow, Ahmed did not think that he had been asked or that he had volunteered. The Rosenante's captain suspected that it was more of a forced sort of thing. And that meant that Robert LaDona was no more trusted in the current political environment that the ships and crew that had disappeared five years ago. That meant that some of the admiralty suspected that he could be orchestrating some sort of military resurgence. It wasn't so unreasonable when you considered that LaDona had led the very fleet during the Civil war that had disappeared. They wanted him where they could watch him, along with the other ships that had been escorted here. Numerically speaking there were more escort ships here then there were recently returned vessels. They had the fleet cordoned off and possessed the tactical advantage pinning the ships of the 52nd fleet against the planet. But Ahmed made no mistake, they realized that if the Fighting 52nd wanted out of Khitomer, they'd get out of Khitomer. That's what made them so damned touchy. They knew that the 52nd fleet was battle hardened. That they were experienced guerilla warfare fighters and that if these ships had managed to beat the odds against the MDP, that this quarantine fleet wouldn't stand much of a chance. Ahmed hoped they wouldn't push the situation too far, that the Admiralty would realize that if they tried to push the fleet to hard and be too oppressive that they would consider the current regime as much a despotic regime as Doenitz had been. If that turned out to be the case, Allah help them, because there would be way too much bloodshed to ever wash it from their hands. The admiral mentioned private interviews or debriefings; that suited Ahmed fine, since he had nothing to hide. He'd get a much better understanding of the political situation simply by listening and absorbing the attitudes and types of questions that the interrogators/interviewers would ask him. People were felling slighted, treated as criminals and fear seemed to be the order of the day for the vast majority of the staff at Khitomer, and perhaps there was some sort of growing dreadful fear among the captains of the assembled 52nd fleet as well. With tensions so high, something somewhere was bound to shake loose. Ahmed just hoped that when it did, that everything would be repairable. For now, Ahmed constrained himself to simply observing, listening and making detailed mental notes of whom was present and whom was not. His photographic memory was taking it all in, every word, every gesture and he was slowly categorizing a list of the ships that had been affected as well as the captains and officers that were present. In a way he missed nothing, but in another, there were so many holes in his information that it made comprehension of the facts he did have problematic at best. He'd learn so much more when the interviews began, so for now he patiently waited, watched and listened. (reply none, Any) Daniel Greene ------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Main Engineering, ACEO Lieutenant Steven Matrix - Day 1731, 0917) Matrix sat on the floor directly in front of the spiral drive intermix chamber rubbing his head while looking over the diagnostic results and the various PADDs of information before him. By now most of the other propulsion systems were online or within moments of being fully functional. Ensign Myers' beta team one was most efficient in getting the injectors online. In fact Matrix was pleased she had managed to get the three percent back in efficiency he had requested. In fact she surpassed that request by nearly a full percent. Beta team two put the warp drive back online nearly 40 minutes ago and were concluding operational testing. Matrix had them and the bridge crew run through a series of warp test to ensure all was well. So far things were looking good...except for the spiral drive. The spiral drive was a marvel of propulsion, but there was only one in the fleet. There was little information and troubleshooting manuals available and Matrix had written most of them. The spiral drive was something seldom used, but was constantly monitored and tested. In the teardown and diagnostic review it was revealed to be less than efficient. In fact, if the bridge ordered it engaged it would likely spew antimatter back into the infector feeds and very bad things would result. Everything tested fine, green lights, the works, but the injectors had to be at 97 percent efficiency before the intermix would engage properly. Matrix looked at Cohen, "okay...the compressed matter and antimatter streams are within tolerances, the magnetic injectors appear to be working properly...the ODN says all is fine, the PTCs on the backend are okay...so what are we missing?" Ensign Cohen sat down next to Matrix and look over the real time readout control panel just above the intermix station, "I don't know Steve, but I think I know who might be able to help?" Matrix looked over to Peter, "Seriously?" "Yup and I wouldn't be surprised if she gets a few digs in if she solves this little problem." replied Ensign Cohen with a big grin on his face. Matrix shut his eyes, "Oh, this is doing to bruise the ego." replied Matrix. "Chief, I will be in Engineering helping Lt Matrix. Call me if there is anything you think I should be aware of ok?" The grey haired grizzled veteran of thirty plus years in SF smiled at the younger man and replied simply "Yes Sir". Jackson looked around and sighed - he was not one to like waiting around. Captain Salid's absence troubled him greatly. (USS Rosenate COPS LT Tom Jackson Main Engineering Deck 0922) Jackson entered Engineering and saw Steve Matrix sitting on the floor working away. Matrix leaned harder into the bulkhead and put his head up against the wall. Lieutenant Jackson entered engineering and made his way over to the two on the floor. "Ah, Mister Jackson to what do we owe this visit?" asked Matrix with a smirk. Matrix was visibly pissed, not at Jackson or Cohen...just with himself for not discovering the problem and the solution. "Hi Steve, neeed some help?" Jakcson asked. "Sorry Tom, yes I would love an extra pair of eyes on this problem." replied Matrix as he stood up to greet the Lieutenant. Matrix turned around and picked up the yellow PADD he had been using as a diagnostic repository and handed it to Jackson. "Fill me in and then send me where you need help the most" Tom replied. Matrix continued, "The short of it is that everything on the spiral drive checks out fine, but we can't get the injectors to make the 97 percent to make the system engage. We've been working on this for hours." "Gotcha boss" Tom replied smiling. Matrix turned and glared at Ensign Cohen still sitting on the floor. "Mister Cohen here suggested I call Ensign Myers here to help since her reputation for solving problems. Perhaps you could take a look and see if you can't find this needle for me?" asked Matrix. (Reply Jackson) (Posted by Steve) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Main Engineering, ACEO Lieutenant Steven Matrix - Day 1731, 0938) Ensign Myers entered engineering with her usual professionalism, but it was obvious she was gloating over the request for her help. Lisa Myers was an outstanding engineering student at the academy, likely one of the best in many decades. Her ability to assess a situation and determine a resolution was more than outstanding. While on her first tour of duty aboard the Geneva, she was asked for her input on a warp refit problem with one of the Nimitz class starships on Utopia Planitia. A design problem Star Fleet engineers couldn't solve in over six weeks, Ensign Myers solved in less than three days. Matrix was happy to have her aboard, but felt a bit intimidated by her abilities, not to mention her looks. "Ensign, thank you for coming to Engineering so quickly. Ensign Cohen and I have been trying to resolve the spiral drive injector efficiency without success. If you would please, review these systems, our diagnostics and give me your take on what the problem might be." asked Matrix. Ensign Myers gave a slight smile at the ACEO and Ensign Cohen. She took the PADD Matrix offered her. "Thank you sir, I'm sure its something quite puzzling if you and Mr. Cohen could not figure it out." said Myers. Matrix wasn't sure if that was a dig or genuine praise."Ensign...we've determined that the magnetic injectors and ODN are all working properly...I would confine your search on either the PTCs or..." said Peter. "Thank you Mister Cohen...I like to start fresh with problems like this. I will review your work as well, but I have my own methodology." interjected Myers. Peter smiled, "...of course, please by all means." said Ensign Cohen as he made his way to the primary engineering station a few meters away. "Ensign, I'll leave you to look over these diagnostics while I go get some coffee and take a break." said Matrix. Ensign Myers focused on her task and barely acknowledged the ACEO with a slight hand wave as she looked over the diagnostic display. Slightly annoyed with Lisa's gesture Matrix cleared his throat, "Ensign...can I get you anything?" asked Matrix. "....ah...no sir, I'm fine...thank you." replied the Ensign as she returned to her task. Lisa was clearly engulfed in her work and was more than motivated to show up the ACEO. Matrix turned and headed out of engineering, passing Ensign Cohen along the way. Cohen smiled and tried to suppress his laughter at the situation. Matrix was clearly uncomfortable. (Reply, none) (Posted by Steve) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Science Lab 2 - Science Officer - Ensign Andrew Maddox - 0945) Andrew found himself alone in the lab for the beginning alpha shift. The room was uncharacteristically quiet. The only sound was a rhythmic tone. The tone signaled the completion of an experiment left over from the previous shift. He picked up the PADD sitting on the table under the machine. He completed the entry on the log for that experiment and pressed his thumb to the PADD, signing the document. He tried to continue a few minor ongoing experiments that he had started before the time jump, but the experiments wouldn't run. . "BLAST IT!" Andrew yelled nearly cursing. If he thought for a second that he wouldn't break his hand hitting the computer panel, he would have. "What the hell is wrong with this blasted machine?" he muttered under his breath. He didn't want to call down to engineering to have them come up and run diagnostics on it to get it working. If anything, he had pride in his job and didn't go whining to anyone else to come fix it for him. ~Besides if I don't fix it my self, Dad will never let me live it down. I can just hear him say it, 'you let engineering come and fix your sub-space spectrometer.?'~ He grabbed the tricorder and a gravispanner and just after cutting off the power to the machine opened the maintenance panel. A close pass with the tricorder and it's alarms started sounding alerting to some variable outside of a preset limit. "What have you found my little friend?" he spoke to the tricorder like a trusted confidant. The tricorder indicated the sub-space spectrometer had a chroniton contamination. He silenced the alarm on his tricorder, it had done it's job and told him something was wrong, so there was no need for the incessant racket. "Chronitons, that would do a number on the spiral drive. Since it borrows heavily on sub-space technology." he just blurted out. ~Not to mention the main deflector would loose efficiency, the transporters might build up the chronitons in the pattern buffer over several months causing people to age prematurely or reverse the aging process reopening old scars etc.~ He decided he had to report this. "Maddox to Engineering." =^= Engineer's Mate Fenton here.=^= "One of my experiments has been halted by a gross chroniton contamination." Maddox announced. =^= So, what do you want us to do about it? =^= some engineering tech had responded, obviously oblivious to where Maddox was going. "Listen, I spoke to you first realizing what Chronitons will do to the Spiral Drive. You do realize what they will do when the Captain gets back and he orders us to go somewhere really fast?" He whistled very loudly making a sound similar to ancient incoming artillery fire, and then made a big crashing explosion noise pounding his fist into his other palm in time with the explosion. "We join the twenty-two particles of space dust per cubic meter making it twenty two million particles per cubic meter over a very large area as we explode!" he chastised the tech. "Why don't you put someone on with half a brain." he said finally. =^= Understood, stand by. =^= The tech stated urgency now in his voice. (Reply Engineering Officer) "Yes sir, I'm concerned about the spiral drive and a few other sub-space dependent systems." Maddox responded. (Reply Engineering) "I can notify the bridge, sir, I'm just out a minor experiment and have some lost time repairing one machine, you have a plethora of ship's systems to check and decon." (Reply Engineering) "Yes sir, understood, when we are all ship shape up here I can drop by and help you with a few systems." (Reply Engineering) "Thank you sir, Maddox out." Some hours had passed by before any word was heard from anyone. =^= Maddox to the Bridge. =^= "This is Commander Sullivan, go ahead Ensign." she said. ~ What might he call the bridge for?~ =^= Sir one of my experiments was halted due to chroniton contamination, I had some concerns of other ship's systems.=^= he reported. ~The Spiral Drive. It is not like Caskie to shirk her duties with out something very important hindering her.~ "Have you spoken with Engineering?" she inquired, beginning a logical and systematic problem solving method. =^= Yessir, I informed Engineering first so they could begin a search and decontamination of the effected systems.=^= "Strong work Mister Maddox, can you use the internal sensors to pick up the heaviest contamination areas?" she inquired. =^= I believe I can, in-fact it shouldn't be too difficult. =^= "Good, do that, and coordinate with Engineering on any critical or sub-critical systems. Put your priorities on the transporters, the spiral drive and anything that can become dangerous or volatile when introduced to strong chroniton particle influence." =^=I will.=^= "Keep me apprised of your progress. Sullivan out." There was great deal of work ahead of the Engineering and science departments if what Sullivan suspected was true. She hoped that this was one of the rare times she was wrong. (Reply any) (Posted by Todd) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Sick Bay - Chief Field Medic - SCPO Nathan Fuller - 1003) One of the enlisted engineers, a young Andorian female, walked into sick bay holding a cloth to her face. Nate saw her and responded. "Petty Officer F'ensa, what did you do this time?" Nate asked. He knew the young Andorian NCO since before the Civil War, of course then she was a meek girl in engineer's coveralls. She turned into a fine young NCO. She was a beauty to look at, and Nate had always been attracted to her. He didn't let that get in the way of his duties, but the concern still showed on his face. "I didn't do it Nate I swear." she pleaded as she sat down. "I was working on a diagnostic at the main deflector and my face just opened up and started bleeding. Ensign Rixx had me come straight here." As she explained Nate put on a pair of surgical gloves, he didn't want to contaminate the area before he had figured out what had done it. "Well take your hand away so I can have a look-see." he said. As she did so Nate noticed the parts of her sleeve that had absorbed the life-giving fluid before she had found the cloth. He moved the cloth away with his gloved hand revealing a 5 by 3 centimeter triangular laceration on her left cheek. As the pressure was removed a dark blue viscus fluid began to ooze out, the bleeding wasn't completely controlled yet. ~That looks familiar. Almost like the same one I stitched up after the fight with the Wyvern.~ "You trying to copy the cut on your face from the Wyvern battle on the Champlain?" he asked her as he exchanged the blue-blood soaked rag for a sterile gauze pad, "Hold pressure here." he told her she did so then answered the former question. "No, why would I do that? Seems a lot masochistic to me.." she said. "Just looks exactly like the cut I sewed up for you on the Champ." he said off handedly. He picked up a minor wound closure kit. "Really? Are you messing with me?" She said free hand on her hip, her antennae showing signs of annoyance. "No just looked kinda familiar, deja-vu, like I had done this before. 'Cept the room isn't coming down around us, you know?" he said, " I guess I just don't like to see you get hurt." he said finally. "Aw, I'm crushing' on ya big guy, you are getting soft." she started to smile, but it hurt too much so she stopped. "Lets close this thing and get you back to work, not that I don't want you around, but don't want Ensign Rixx storming in here looking for her NCO." he said grinning and removed the pad. The bleeding had stopped enough for Nate to get to work. He made quick work of the small laceration with a few passes with the magenta colored beam the wound closed better the second time. "All done, how's it feel?" he asked. She tested the movement of her jaw and face a couple times. She moved her jaw and face contorting it's features to test the work Nate did. "Mirror?" she said. Mocking shock and hurt feelings Nate responded, "What you don't trust me?" "Ha, ha funny Nate." she said, "Mirror." she said again this time more insistently. Nate turned around and grabbed the mirror to hand her, but when he turned around the look on his face alarmed her as much as what Nate saw alarmed him. "What's wrong?" she said panic creeping into her features even as Nate watched the wound re-open the opposite direction it was closed right before his very eyes. It didn't take him long to recover and he put the gauze pad right back on the wound. "It's OK, calm down," he said mostly for her but partially for his own benefit as well. With in an instant he had a fresh gauze on her face. "Don't move, I'll be right back." he said and went to seek a second opinion. He walked into the other station and saw the Klingon Combat Nurse at the Nurse's station. ~Perfect, who has more trauma experience then a Klingon?~ "E'Mpak, do you have a free moment?" he asked, his hands still wore the maroon surgical gloves with small spots of blue on them. He held his hands in the air, elbows about waist high palms facing his chest, this was a reminder to him and everyone else that his hands were sterile, and he intended to keep them that way. (Reply E'Mpak) "Well I just wanted your opinion on this one, darnedest thing." he said. (Reply E'Mpak) "You wouldn't believe me unless you saw for yourself." he said calmly. (Reply E'Mpak) The pair of medical professionals walked over to the Andorian woman sitting on the bio-bed with a very worried expression on her face. "Nurse E'Mpak, this is Petty Officer F'ensa, from Engineering. Patient is a 23 year old Andorian Female who reports of spontaneous skin laceration with out evidence of physical trauma. I was a bit skeptical at first until I closed the wound and then it re-opened itself." he reported. As Matrix walked further into engineering he noted the spiral drive transfer conduits were glowing their ambient orange indicating full power flowing into the system. Matrix glanced at the primary propulsion board in disbelief. Ensign Cohen was also looking up the board while Ensign Myers was at the aft spiral drive station looking over its telemetry. "Okay Lisa...the injectors are showing 99.94% efficiency and all power flow is in the green." said Cohen as he turned and noticed Matrix looking up at the display screens. "Eighteen minutes" said Cohen. "Huh?" replied Matrix. "Eighteen minutes is all it took for Miss Myers to identify the fault, fix the problem AND increase our best efficiency by almost three percent!" gloated Peter. Matrix looked at Peter, "...feeling good about that are you?" exclaimed Matrix. "Oh I'm just happy the problem was resolved...and yes...ecstatic someone showed you up for a change." Matrix frowned, "Well...I don't know everything..." "Well Lieutenant, I managed to resolve this most difficult problem you've had with the spiral drive injectors" interjected Ensign Myers as she walked up to Matrix and handed him the diagnostics PADD. Mouth still slightly open in astonishment Matrix took the PADD from Myers and said nothing for a few awkward moments. Clearly his ego was more than bruised. Matrix glanced at the PADD display. "Really...you've got to be kidding me?" asked Matrix. Ensign Myers was standing with her hands behind her back, an expression of glee upon her face. She had shown up the ACEO. One of only a few people in all of Star Fleet who know anything about spiral drive systems and the foremost field authority on the subject. Matrix finally smiled. "Well Ensign, I'm very glad you were here to pull my head...clear up this problem. Obviously we...I didn't...couldn't see the problem. Thank you." said Matrix. "You're welcome Lieutenant, but I should have placed a bet with you before I looked it over." replied Myers. "Bet? What would you have bet me?" asked Matrix. "Well...I would have bet you dinner that I could get things working before noon." replied Lisa. Matrix was still looking over the results of Ensign Myers PADD, "three magnetic injectors installed in reverse order, one injector frozen and all out of alignment." gasped Matrix. "...engineer on record for the maintenance...MATRIX!?" Peter Cohen let out a laugh that would have made a Klingon proud. Matrix looked up in embarrassment. "Yes sir... You must have been tired, a lot on your mind...a first year cadet would have missed that...Sir." replied Myers with a big smile. "Will that be all sir? I do have to report to operations for another consultation." asked Lisa. "Of course Ensign...of course." replied Matrix. Ahmed Ibn Salid- Day 1731- 1355) Finally, the long ordeal of being interviewed, debriefed or interrogated, depending on your point of view was over and Ahmed had been released to return to his ship. He had found it interesting that after the conversations, that he had been escorted from the converted meeting room that had been tasked with acting as an interrogation center by a pair of security personnel who were clearly instructed to see to it that the Captain did not stop on the way out to speak with anyone else. He stepped through the doors of the compartment, not at all surprised that there was no one here to see him off except for his escort and the transporter operator. Ahmed smiled at them and looking at the lieutenant in charge of the security detail spoke. "Lieutenant. I'll need to contact the Rosenante and have them transport me back up. They have been instructed to block any unwanted transports aboard. I'm certain that you understand?" The lieutenant looked at him, a slight look of surprise and shock on his face. Ahmed realized that it had never dawned on the man that some of the captains might consider the possibility of their ship's being forcibly boarded. "Uhh..." the man stuttered as he tried to consider his orders. "Sure. I don't see why not. I was merely asked to escort you to the transporter so you could leave Captain. I wasn't given any orders concerning how you were to leave...exactly." Ahmed nodded, smiled and then said, " Then you'll need to have this rooms inhibitor turned off for a moment. The lieutenant looked at him and blurted out, "How did you..." Ahmed raised one hand. "It's pretty straight forward Lieutenant. If there was any chance that a single CO was a threat among this group, then transport inhibitors would be used to prevent their easy return to their ship. It's the smart thing to do." The security officer looked at the transporter operator and nodded. The transporter chief tapped a few buttons on his consol and said, "All set." Ahmed tapped his commbadge. "Salid to Rosenante" he said with a nice even tone. (reply Rosenante, either Jackson, Raschen or Sullivan) "Rosenante I am ready to transport up to the ship. (Reply by captain Salid) (posted by shawn) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Bridge- CO, Capt. Ahmed Ibn Salid- Day 1731- 1435) "Captain communication coming in from Khitomer sir." Ahmed glanced up from his reports at the main viewer the planet was slowly spinning and the very sight of it was relaxing. That false sense of peace was shattered by the images of dozens of starships orbiting the lazy planet at various positions. "Put it on screen." He ordered. A moment later a lieutenant in Starfleet blue appeared on the screen. She had soft feminine features, with blond hair stacked up on her head that caused the almond shape of her face to stand out. She had a slender neck and deep blue eyes. =^= Captain Salid?=^= she asked. ""Yes Lieutenant." he replied, placing the PADD down on the arm rest of the commander chair as he did so. =^= I'm lieutenant Christine Seyler, sir. I lead a team of science personnel from the USS Newton. We've been ordered to come aboard the Rosenante and conduct some scientific scans.=^= =^=With your permission Captain, I'd like to have my team beamed up shortly to begin?=^= Ahmed smiled. That was by far the most polite way that he had ever heard someone present their authority without being a complete and total ass about it. "Of course Lieutenant Seyler. I'll have Mister Jackson my Chief of Operations meet you in the transporter room along with Mister Raschen my Chief Security officer. You'll be under escort for the duration of your time aboard, so that you don't get turned around and so that you'll have someone that can help you with anything you may need while you are here." ~Take that~ He thought, two can play that game. Her lips purses slightly into a single line before she responded. =^= that's fine captain.=^= she finally replied, =^= to be honest we could use the help. Any chance we could liaise with your science department while we're there?=^= "Of course, I'll have ensign Remey available to you as well." Her half frown blossomed into a smile as she replied. =^= Thank you sir, It will make things a lot easier." "No problem lieutenant." Ahmed replied with a smile of his own, "After all we're all on the same side here and there's no reason to make things difficult for each other." He watched as some tension seemed to leech from her otherwise taunt form, =^= You don't have any idea how nice it is to hear someone say that, sir. =^= "I have a good idea lieutenant." He replied, "How many in your party?" =^= Eight in the science team and Commander Rosita and his two escorts from SFI=^= Ahmed's eyes narrowed. For a moment there he had hoped that everything would be pretty straight forward but now suddenly the science team had turned into a smoke screen for the Intelligence personnel as well. That was a little less than forthcoming. "I see lieutenant. Send your coordinates and standby for transport. We'll have you aboard shortly." =^= Thank you captain, Seyler standing by=^= The channel closed. Ahmed turned to Raschen and Jackson. "Mister Raschen, Mister Jackson, Take ensign Remey and head to transporter room one. Once you're there and ready we'll have mister Dawson transport up the science team and the SFI team." (reply Raschen, Jackson) "Mister Sullivan see to it that any signs of abnormal battle readiness are not visible to our visitors. I don't want them to see something that indicates were eager for a fight." (reply Sullivan, Jackson, Raschen) Daniel Greene ------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Transporter Room- SciO, Lt. Christine Seyler - Day 1731- 1510) Christine and her science team rematerialized on the transporter platform in the Rosenante's Transporter room without a hitch. The eight person team was loaded down with a great amount of equipment that they had found was essential to the conduct of their mission; namely to scan and determine if the reports from the Rosenante were on the level. They'd be looking for Chronitons as well as an unidentified particle that her scientist were already calling Seylerions, since she had been the first to detect them. NO one knew what Seylerions did or if they were naturally occurring or even if they were elemental particles or a side affect of some as of yet unknown process. It seemed however, at first glance that Seylerion particles seemed to work in some manner to preserve Chroniton particles, which normally had a very rapid decay rate. It was very rare that Chronitons would exist for more than a few hours, let alone a week or more once the source of their emissions had stopped. It seemed that either Seylerions did one of two things. They either created Chronitons or they stabilized them. The middle aged science team leader looked out at the small transporter room. There were a number of officers waiting for her and her team and she knew that Lieutenant Commander Rosita was anxious to get aboard as well. In fact there were some many people here that Christine was amazed that so many people could fit into such a tight compartment. "Request permission to come aboard" She said formally, despite the fact that she and her team had permission from the admiralty. (reply Raschen) With a nod she stepped off the platform, offering her hand to the man that had given them permission to board. "Thank you Lieutenant. I'm Christine Seyler, and these are members of my science team. Ensigns Latimer, Firenze, T'Bon, Logia, Simeon, Fr'thbeltak, and Brock. I assume you know why we are here?" (reply Raschen) NRPG: I am assuming that you will introduce the other officers present, Remey, Jackson, Matrix, Smith "It's a pleasure to meet you." Christine said with a short nod of her head. "Personally I'd like to get underway as quickly as possible. The sooner I can get started the sooner I can get out of your hair. Besides Lieutenant commander Rosita is already unhappy about the length of time that your captain has made him wait." Another smile, "I'd prefer to be clear of this compartment when he arrives. He has a tendency to be a bit pompous and arrogant." (reply Raschen, Remey, Matrix, Smith) Daniel Greene ------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Transporter Room- CSEC- LT Chance Raschen- 1511) Christine and her science team rematerialized on the transporter platform in the Rosenante's Transporter room without a hitch. The eight person team was loaded down with a great amount of equipment that they had found was essential to the conduct of their mission; namely to scan and determine if the reports from the Rosenante were on the level. Chance didn’t know exactly what it was that they were looking for. What he did know was that the scientists were looking for two kinds of particles, and somehow one stabilized the other. The Ex-Privateer was more focused about the next group to beam up. The middle aged science team leader looked out at the small transporter room. "Request permission to come aboard" She said formally. “Ma’am, with the Captain’s compliments, permission to come aboard is granted.” Raschen said with a bow of his head and a touch of ‘Southern Gentleman’ shall we say. With a nod she stepped off the platform, offering her hand to the man that had been given them permission to board. "Thank you Lieutenant. I'm Christine Seyler, and these are members of my science team; Ensigns Latimer, Firenze, T'Bon, Logia, Simeon, Fr'thbeltak, and Brock. I assume you know why we are here?" “Yes Ms. Seyler, we have been informed why you are here. But first, if you will allow me ma’am; I am Lieutenant Chance Raschen, may I present Ensign Louis Remey, Lieutenant Tom Jackson, Lieutenant Steven Matrix, and Ensign Robert Smith. "It's a pleasure to meet you." Christine said with a short nod of her head. "Personally I'd like to get underway as quickly as possible. The sooner I can get started the sooner I can get out of your hair. Besides, LCDR Rosita is already unhappy about the length of time that your captain has made him wait." Another smile, "I'd prefer to be clear of this compartment when he arrives. He has a tendency to be a bit pompous and arrogant." Chance smiled broadly at the woman and rhetorically asked “Just a ‘tendency’; are you sure he is from intel?” He then turned to his compatriots “Gentlemen, if you would be so kind as to help the lady and her team gets started.” he said as he waved his arm toward the Transporter Room door. (Reply any iyw) After the scientists and their escort departed to begin their scans, Chance turned to look at the transporter platform. All signs of pleasantness left his features and a fire arose in his eyes as he prepared himself for the next several hours. Raschen had a very simple rule when it came to meetings with allies and enemies alike, ‘I will treat you as you treat me’. Raschen had hoped and prayed that it wouldn’t be the same Rosita that he had met during the Civil War when Chance was still a Loyalist privateer in the I.F.F. Using the name ‘Temerarious’, Chance commanded one of the ships that took part in the loyalist victory over the 52nd at the Battle of Ka-Roc. The 52nd was actually on the verge of winning that fight, but someone somewhere did, or didn’t do, something and the Loyalist won the day. After the battle, the group and ship commanders, plus their first and second officers, that took part in the fight held a meeting. The Loyalist was under orders not to take any prisoners; killing in battle was one thing, but no one really wanted to commit murder after that engagement (that was a hardliner kind of thing), and nobody really wanted to be murdered hence the meeting. At the meeting Chance was the only ship captain present that did not wear a Starfleet uniform, his first and second officers remained aboard ship, and this popinjay of an arrogant little cuss named Rosita started calling the privateer all kinds of names. But when he threatened to find out who his family was and ‘see to it they are disposed of’, Chance just lost it. He grabbed that schmuck by the hair and slammed his head into the table top, breaking his nose and giving the man a concussion before letting the man drop to the floor like a sack of potatoes. You just do not mess with that man’s family, I don’t care who you are. Couple of minutes after the scientists departed the transporter room of the USS Rosenante received more ‘guests’ as the Starfleet intelligence team beamed aboard the ship. The Lieutenant Commander and his two assistants stood ready to do their job. And as if to add insult to injury, the senior of the two assistants had been Chance’s parole officer at one time after his mutiny on the Dennison and subsequent defection to the 52nd. The Intel-team stepped forward as soon as they were able. There was no formal request to come aboard. Technically, they had all the authority needed to do so, but Raschen knew that just out of simple courtesy, some formalities needed to be adhered to. The small black beady eyes of the light commander scanned the room and stopped upon Chance Raschen stood wearing the yellow uniform tunic of the fleet. "Captain Temerarious," The Intel-agent said with a voice dripping of disdain "I didn't realize that Captain Salid was still dealing with Pirates these days." “Cutting straight to the chase, huh? Well commander, at least you’ve learned to respect your betters’ since Ka-Roc.” Chance fired back. Luis smiled. "I have a job to do today Lieutenant. I'll be speaking to you at length soon enough." “Perhaps you should have started on a nicer note then sir.” The Chief of Security stated. “I get to spend your time on board bringing the same kind of joy to your life that you bring everyone else’s here.” Raschen finished in the most sarcastic tone he could muster. Another wry smile graced Luis' lips. He held out a PADD for the lieutenant. "Here is a list of the personnel that I will need to speak with. Please have them report to the First Officer's Office. One every hour on the hour until the list is exhausted. You'll notice that they are your senior staff officers. I'll be using that room for my interviews." “Sorry sir, but arrangements have been made for these interviews to take place down in the Marine Detachment Commander’s office. Science teams are scanning for…” Raschen shrugged “some odd particles and that section will be one of the last scanned. That and the Captain doesn’t like people in locations where they can gain access to things they’re not supposed to.” "No I don't suspect he does, but that's not really important. I have the full authority to determine the fate of this ship, and I really don't think that it would be in the Captain's best interest to disagree with me on this point." Raschen was all ready to just kill the jerk, but he remembered what the skipper had told him. In Chance’s mind it had boiled down to ‘give as good as you get, but don’t do anything that will cause shooting to start.’ Instead what he said to the commander was “That may be true, but you should be careful sir. One day someone will come after you with the same tenacity, and zealotry that you have for going after others.” Then as if to show his superiority "I'll begin with Commander Caskie at 1800. Once that interview is complete, we'll speak with Commander Sullivan at 1900, Lieutenant Jackson at 2000, Lieutenant Matrix at 2100, Ensign Remey at 2200, Lopez at 2300, and Ensign Smith at 2400 and down the list. I have you scheduled for 0300." Luis explained with a smile. “Very well Commander, I will be more than happy to send this list along with your request to use the FO office. But first, if you gentleman will follow me to the Brig, we can check your weapons and verify your identification.” (Reply Rosita, any iyw) “It’s your choice sir; we can do this the easy way or the hard way. And I don’t think you really want us to take yawls jackets, boots, and belts. And make you hold these interviews in MY office. ” The Chief of Security stated as the doors opened to show Nunez, Rosenbauer, and a pair of large security NCOs ready to escort the three Intelligence agents down to the Brig area. (Reply Rosita, any iyw) (Reply Rosita, any iyw) Charlie Raschen -------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Transporter Room- SFI LCmdr Luis Rosita - Day 1731- 1512) The Transporter room of the USS Rosenante coalesced into a clarity as the Starfleet intelligence team beamed aboard the ship. Luis and his two assistants, Lieutenant Nureyev and Ensign Kaposi stood ready to do their job which should have begun nearly an hour earlier. Luis understood all too well exactly what was happening. He realized that the captain of the ship was exercising their authority by making his team wait unnecessarily. This was despite the fact that one word from him could easily keep the Rosenante from ever leaving the Khitomer system. Luis stepped forward as soon as he was able. There was no formal request to come aboard. He had all the authority that he needed and was not in the mood for formalities. His small black beady eyes scanned the room and stopped upon the figure of one of the men that had been the cause for his personal attention to this ship. Chance Raschen stood wearing the yellow uniform tunic of the fleet. Luis was aware that he was mocking him, simply by being here and wondered if the captain had gone out of his way to goad him by sending this offer rather than another to meet him. Raschen, also known as Temerarious, was one of the few individuals that was suspected as being a part of the Omega Conspiracy. That conspiracy had come to fruition nearly three years prior when Admiral Errol Heatherby, attempted to seize control of the Federation Council. For the second time in a little less than 5 years there had been a military coup to seize control. This later coupe would have been successful if it had not been for the timely intervention of Starfleet intelligence. Heatherby had escaped, though along with several of his cronies. They had simply disappeared, lost without a trace. Yet here standing in front of him stood one of the men that would have taken part in that coup had he been here to do so. Chance Raschen was back and there was a slim chance that he might have some small piece of information that might lead them to Heatherby, in the hopes of preventing another attempt by the man to seize control of the UFP. "Captain Temerarious." Luis said with a voice dripping of disdain. "I didn't realize that Captain Salid was still dealing with Pirates these days." (reply Raschen) Luis smiled.
