Perhaps in a few days we can talk about what this all means. We'll get to this little project after we've done a complete shakedown of every refit system on the Rose. "I'm not sure," he said. "But honestly...you beat them before. You were physically injured, and what you endured probably tested your limits, but you know you have the strength you need--you know you're stronger than them, and stronger than anything in your head. You need to remember that." Jessica shook her head before she would of agreed with him, but now she was just not sure. "I agree. As far as I am concerned you need medication and sleep now far more than anything else." Doctor fisher added. "We'll reduce your shoulder and give you some pain meds. That should help you sleep." He dropped his voice so that only Jessica could hear. "I know Eian has shared some of the things he believes with you, so I'll share something I believe. Whatever strength you don't believe you have, exists outside of you, and is watching over you." He spoke softly, but how he and Eian believed was not how Jessica believed. The situation was getting more complex and harder focus the longer she battled to stay awake. She was going on over 24 hours with out sleep, how much more longer can she hold out. "As for your bad dreams." Doctor Fisher added. "They are simply your minds way of working everything out that has happened to you. However if you are worried then the Commander and I will be only to happy to sit with you as long as we can and I can have someone from medical sit with you 24/7 if that is what you want until you feel more comfortable." Jessica nodded more that she acknowledged what the Doctor said more than in agreement. Jessica's mind was starting to grow hazy. Soon she was laid back a hypospray pressed to her neck, and a light sheet covering her body. Has the drugs took effect Jessica's mind cleared for the briefest of moments ~What have I done.~ the though flashed before her mind before she was overtaken by the darkness of sleep. ( NRPG: the rest of this is what happens in Jessica's Dream...) Time passed, before Jessica opened her eyes, but when she did she realized she was no longer in the Iso-lab, she was surrounded by darkness, only the passing lights the blew by offered her comfort has she was wheeled away to some secret place. She heard the voice of a man speak from behind her "Good, she's awake." Jessica tried to move to see the man who had spoken, to come and find that she was strapped to the table, unable to move. Door parted has she was wheeled into the center of the room to be surrounded by panels, monitors and god only knew what else. She heard another speak. "Lets get this started, do you wish to give her anything for the pain." The man that spoke before answered, "No, they will affect the readings." It was then a metallic circular device was placed on Jessica's head, sharp needles pierced her skin and began to burrow into her skull. "Match the harmonic's of the device to her brainwaves, " a female voice spoke out. A hand was placed on Jessica's head. There was an eerie silence before another spoke. "Everything's ready." Then the Female spoke "Lets begin." The procedure started and Jessica could hear the hum of the device around her head. Then she felt it a stirring deep from with in her mind. "Data packet one ready." Someone spoke and that was the last Jessica heard. The humming of the device acceleration to a loud whine, has Jessica's mind was overcome, it felt like her mind was struck by lightning. Has the probes shocked to life the area of a persons mind that should remain dormant. The area with in her head felt hot, then cold. Jessica tried to focus but found it was impossible, has hundreds of voices filled her mind, they started has if the voices were far away but they quickly came closer, louder, till all were screaming at her. Has information on hundreds of dark arts were streamed directly into her brain. In an instant she knew how to mend wounds and cause such damage upon another's body and still keep them alive. Her mind felt like it was being pulled in so many different directions. Sweat formed upon her brow has her body fought against the bonds that kept her there. That made her endure the violation of her mind. She screamed, "Why are you doing this to me, what have I done wrong, I promise to be good, I promise!" But in the end her pleas were ignored, has more voices were added, has more information flowed into her mind, sorted and stored in areas of her mind that people don't normally use. It seemed as if the procedure would last forever. Jessica was screaming at this point her body long since gone limp to tired to continuing to fight against those hellish bonds anymore. She cried, she sobbed, and she screamed then She woke up. ( NRPG: End Dream Sequence ) Jessica woke screaming in the Iso-lab bolting straight up into the sitting position. Her breathing was heavy has she scanned over the lab now quite awake. Her mind racing, she grabbed the sheet that covered her and a light blanket and in the darkness she barricaded herself into the corner of the Iso-lab. She glanced at the display on a nearby clock has it flashed back, 2223 hrs. No one was there a party was planned for both of the victorious crews. Everyone was there and Jessica was alone. After spending half an hour with Captain Salid she finally had her report checked and authorised. Getting permission from the Captain to send it from his ready room, so that he could see that she wasn't sending anything unauthorised, she sent, a much abridged report to her father, and asked him to pass it on to the Senate. With the Captain's permission she sent a personal message via her father, asking him to pass it on to the Senator who had given her orders to intervene in the first place. "The USS Rosenante, the USS Boudicca and I all survived. Better luck next time. The Bloodwing didn't. You owe me a ship. I'll be back in around six months. Have it ready then please." Smiling Ael thanked the Captain and went to pack, which was how she now found herself at the docking bay. Looking around she smiled. Although she wouldn't dream of telling anyone Ael had actually enjoyed herself aboard these ships. She grinned to herself, ~one day, I will be back.~ Shouldering her pack she stepped onto the transport that would take her back to Earth and the Academy. He had asked Commander Caskie about the status of the transfer and its sudden revoking by BUPERs, and yet he still didn't have an answer or an idea of what was going to happen. ~time to man up Henry, lets see what she has to say~ Henry activated the chime to Eva's room and waited for her to respond. It was to his surprise that she had not answered, at least not on the first chime. He chimed again and waited. He didnt expect her to be out but remembered her athletic nature and assumed she had gone out for a run. Turning to leave Henry sighed and thought about he was gonna spend what was going to be the last day with her onboard the station. Lifting his head to focus on his departure he saw Eva walking down the corridor returning from her run. He smiled in her direction and walked towards her. "HEy" (reply Eva) "I just came looking for you. How was the run?" (reply Eva) Very bluntly he moved into position to tell her the purpose of his visit. "I came to let you know I'm moving out of the temporary quarters today. The Boudicca has received her new mission and all crew requested back onboard." He obviously spotted her and he turned and headed her way. Eva had been wondering when this moment was going to happen, and providence seemed to have chosen now, of all times to reward her with the answer. "Hey." He greeted her. "Hey back." she replied, not sure what else to say to him. Everything else seemed to be awkward. "I just came looking for you. How was the run?" She shrugged, "I've had better, 6-K in 85 minutes isn't exactly stellar. But you didn't come here to ask about my running. What's eating you, Henry?" "I came to let you know I'm moving out of the temporary quarters today. The Boudicca has received her new mission and all crew requested back onboard." Eva frowned and gave him a somber nod. "I understand. We all have our duties to attend. I'm ordered to move back aboard the Rose tomorrow as well. I guess there's nothing else for it. The fleet isn't going to accommodate us, so we have to make the best of it." She said with a sigh. "We've been good together Henry. And maybe, someday when this is all behind us, we will be again, but for now, I need to do my duty. A good friend of mine deserves nothing less than that from me. I'm only sad that my duty takes me away from you." She leaned forward and before he could speak, wrapped her arms around him and allowed herself to give him a passion-filled kiss. When they finally separated, she sighed and said. "Remember New Years." And then without a word, she turned and strode down the corridor to her quarters. She entered , walked over to the bed and only then did she allow herself to cry. She had come aboard as a young, green ACMO and as per usual with newbies she had no idea of how things would go or what she would eventually accomplish along the way. A lot of things had changed and Josh had changed with them. Josh had for a long time considered this ship as her home, but no longer. Whilst she had made friends here her first time around Josh had finally realised that whilst this ship might be her first start in this fleet it was not her home. She had finally realised where here home was and finally she was returning there. Smiling to herself she walked out of her quarters for the last time and made her way across the docking bay towards her real home. Stepping aboard the Rose she smiled as the Chief offered her help. "No worries Chief. I know my way around this ship thank you." Making her way to the Ready Room Josh checked in with Captain Salid and began organising her transfer. (Posted by Marilyn) Cmdr Jennifer (Josh) Caskie --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Ready Room - CO, Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid - Day 17 - 0849) The chime to his ready room door sounded just a split second before the doors slid open to admit his visitor. It was a familiar face, one that was both known and fresh, showing both happiness and doubt, and Ahmed couldn't help but think fondly back to the time when Jennifer Caskie had last graced his door to report in aboard his ship. "It's good to see you again, Jennifer. Join me for some coffee or tea? I could use the company." He offered as she settled in to discuss the business of her transfer back to the Rosenante. The two sat and for a long while just discussed life, the fleet, careers and friends and family past and present. For once, for just a little while before she checked in, they were just friends having a conversation rather than officers in service of the fleet. It was a conversation to be cherished, because for a short while only, Ahmed forgot that he was a captain responsible for the lives of nearly a thousand souls. All because Jennifer Caskie was coming home. He was staring at some readouts that were going to help him track the Captain when he was taken. "Lieutenant. We've been given a task by Dr. Maddox to conduct experiments on the sensor pallet. Dr. Maddox has a new prototype we've been tasked with refitting on the Rose for trials. I'm sending over his papers along with a rather long-winded explanation of how the power conduits and EPS manifolds will need to be altered. Please review these at your leisure and prepare some thoughts on the challenge." said Matrix. "Of course, Sir," Eian said, and he must have sighed, because the Lieutenant's next statement put him on the defensive. "This is nothing urgent Lieutenant. Perhaps in a few days we can talk about what this all means. We'll get to this little project after we've done a complete shakedown of every refit system on the Rose. I want to ensure that the Rose is better than within specs before we start experimenting with theoretical systems." explained Matrix. "I'll get to it soon, Sir. It shouldn't be a problem." "Elan...don't interrupt your shore leave or any personal tasks you need to attend to. I just wanted to make you aware of this opportunity." replied Matrix. ~He's probably concerned about me,~ Eian realized. "I'm doing well, Sir," he assured him. "Lights" he called out, but nothing happened. "Computer, lights on". He became nervous when the computer stated that it didn't recognize his request. "Raschen, I'm surprised at you.". The voice was like a slap in the face from a forgotten time. Raschen rolled his eyes and set his jaw as he said the name that he found to be so distasteful since the beginnings of the civil war, "D’Rajevon." "And then there was light" the intruder quoted and the lights came on in the front portion of the apartment. Sitting at the small round table next to a large window that looked out over the starbase's harbor, the tall Romulan had a Disruptor pistol aimed at Chance's mid section. "I'm so disappointed in you. You were one of the most ruthless commanders we had in the organization." Sitting down at the table across from D’Rajevon. "Perhaps. But from what I understand, there's no room for bastards like us in this day and age." "On the contrary, there is plenty of room this night. And I managed to get the toughest job of the night." Chance turned slightly toward the window, stretched his legs out as he crossed his ankles, then interlaced his fingers behind his head. "And what, pray-tell is your job this night?" Just then six others entered the living area from other parts of the apartment. "We have been directed to make sure you don't interfere with a Section 31 operative who thinks he's off the grid conducting a mission on his own. You know us 'plans within plans' and all in order to achieve a primary objective." "And what IS your objective tonight?" "Tell me Temerarious. All those years ago during the Civil War and you had just gained control of the Dennison here inside this station. What was your plan for getting that ship to Bajor once you started opening fire inside here?" "Back then it wouldn't have mattered if I got that ship out of here. I found myself in a position were I could have single handed destroyed all the core ships of the 52nd and the base. "So who is this operative, and what does he have going on tonight?" "Oh, it involves your dear captain. You know, the one who now has the command that should have gone to you had you not defected you treasonous scum." "Now, now. No need to be rude. Especially when I have yet to kill any of you in my apartment. Mind if I get something from the replicator?" Chance stood up before the Romulan, who had once recruited him into the Doenitz regime, could respond and went to the kitchenette. Several minutes later the only two left alive were Raschen and D’Rajevon. Human and Romulan, as enemies, once again sitting together at the small round table that had a beautiful view of the harbor. "Now D’Rajevon, let's try this again shall we? What it the name of the operative? What is his plan? And what does his objective have to do with Salid?" "You will get nothing from me Temerarious that I haven't already given you. Besides, you were once Section 31's better assets. You could have been commander of the Irregulars. Now look at you, just another tool of the Federation." Raschen just laughed, and stated "I have always been for the Federation and its ideals." "Really!? You know, one day you will have to make a choice." "One choice I haven't had any difficulty making, is that I will be the one to kill you." "Perhaps my boy, but not today." Just then the Romulan flipped the table and knocked Chance out of his chair and onto the floor. D’Rajevon then jumped on top of the over turned table that rested on Raschen and the ran out of the apartment and simply disappeared into the anonymous population of Geneva Station. Later, he'd add notes to the other ones on his desk in what would normally be the bedroom - he'd requested the bed be removed from his quarters and had a nice large desk in there instead, seeing as how his sleep requirements were rather bare in comparison to non-Denobulans. Just beyond his view, Visk could casually look over and see his family tree on the wall. Being rather extensive and convoluted, it took up almost the entire space. One small section was reserved for a scrolling news ticker, silently displaying his family's whereabouts and most recent achievements. Should he so desire he could read that and send out congratulations, queries or condolences as the need arose. His eyes went over to the Kotra board, set up and ready for a fresh game. [Working, begin play.] (reply none) (posted by Lori) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (SB Geneva - Personal Quarters - ACEO Lt Eian O'Neill - Day 21 - 0250) "Come on, come *on*!" He yelled, and slammed his fist into his desk in frustration. "Dammit, this is taking too long!" His father glanced at him, but didn't say anything. Liam knew that Eian realized yelling at the machine wasn't helping. But it had been nearly three hours and they still hadn't found any signs of the Captain. They were searching for adrenaline signatures, the tracer the Captain was wearing, and any signs of the phasing location phasing back to their 'reality'. So far, they had come up dry. Eian closed his eyes and pursed his lips in anger, staring at the readings that had been stagnant for hours. "Do you think Hayden is using some kind of blocking technology? Something that would mask the Captain's adrenaline?" Liam asked, not fully understanding the engineering behind the design of phasing technology, to begin with. Eian nodded. "I'm sure of it," he said, frustration evident in his voice. "The only other option is that the Captain is already dead." "Well, let's not focus on that option," Liam stated simply. "Because Hayden would be gone if that were true, so that doesn't help us. Is there any way you can compensate for the blocking technology?" "That's what this screen is trying to do," Eian pointed to the one to his right. "But so far, it's slow as hell and not finding anything," he said as he hit the screen with the palm of his hand. Liam stood and walked over to his son's desk. "How would blocking technology work in the first place?" "Well, the same way the phase variance technology works, except it would tune certain frequencies, like adrenaline signatures or heartbeat signatures, into the phase variance it's currently in. So instead of setting up another frequency to mask it, it simply twists the frequency that exists into something else for the computer to read," Eian explained. "What this is doing," he indicated the screen to his right, "--or trying to do--is locate a signal that's being twisted." His father nodded, understanding now that it was put in layman's terms. "Then if that's not working and there are no other options, why don't you stop thinking like an engineer and start thinking like a tactician. Where on the station would it be easy to mask that type of signature? Does it involve architecture? Does it involve other bio-signs around the location? Where would it make sense?" Eian frowned in thought, and started tapping away at the screen in front of him. He looked at the schematic of the station and ruled out a few places, which turned red on the cross-section and isometric diagrams displayed. Liam saw more and more of them turn red as Eian thought silently, ruling out places for various reasons. "This one's underpopulated," he murmured. "That one's overpopulated--the signature would stand out in a crowd. This is an animal shelter area...that's a holodeck area--lots of empty space. Unless..." His eyes grew wide. "Computer, show me all of the holodecks that are currently in use." [There are seventeen holodecks currently in use. They are displayed.] "Show me the ones that have any of the following signature patterns," Eian ordered, and selected five options from his screen on the right. [There is one holodeck that meets that criteria. It is displayed.] "He's using a holodeck. My God, it's brilliant. The signature comes up as a holo-emitter signature and fools the sensors. Anything could be going on in there and people would think it's just a program and leave it alone..." "What holodeck," Liam demanded urgently. "Holodeck 22," Eian said, and tapped his badge. "O'Neill to Fisher and pre-specified security teams, prepare to beam to holodeck 22." (reply Fisher and anyone from security iyw) Simultaneously, Liam activated the program they had already set up. "Computer, activate program O'Neill - Alpha - Romeo - Bravo - Tango - Zero - Zero - Six - Tango. Engage." The docking slips on the station were automatically shut down on the Commander's orders, and ingress and egress was restricted for the next five minutes. All external phased areas, like a shuttlecraft, would automatically show up on Security's sensors as normal objects, and they would act accordingly if they thought they should fire. They both stood in the open area of the room with their phaser rifles and personal transponders, and activated them on Liam's orders. They were beamed directly to the phased area, which was now succumbing to their engineered 'massive' ghost suit idea--the method of overloading the holo-emitters on that area of the station and causing an interspace flux overload by simultaneously bombarding it with tetrion particles. It had been Salid's idea, and had been perfected by the few people who knew about their plan. As the blue transporter particles surrounded Eian and disassembled him, his last thought before beaming to the area was a prayer to God--who he called Allah for the Captain's sake -- to watch over His children. (No reply needed given time constraints) (Posted by Marilyn) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (SB Geneva - Holodeck 22/ Phased out - Operative Hayden - Day 21 - 0255) In the last few hours, Hayden had quite a lot of fun. Whatever medication Salid was on was starting to fail in its valiant effort to keep him 'loopy', and he could see the streaks of pain in the Captain's face. He realized that this little endeavor he had undertaken was completely unsanctioned and not part of the mission, but he figured he had a bit of leeway because it was still a few days before he would be expected at Raven Station, SB Geneva was on the way there anyway, and the Captain had nearly cost him his career and needed to be reprimanded. He debated killing him, or leaving him permanently damaged...perhaps unable to communicate. Of course, with modern medicine, who knows what they would cook up. The air pulses had bludgeoned the Captain's body, effectively leaving him shot in multiple areas by repeated impacts until his bones finally snapped. The beauty of the skin shoes, the air pulses, and the newly installed wires that he had woven through the man's flesh on his arms and torso to make him more conductive, were that they all left easily healed wounds if he were to be taken to Sickbay, but left the victim in a world of pain. Hayden never understood people who would kill their victims or seriously injure them after only a few hours of play...he likened them to a cobbler who built cheap shoes quickly instead of taking his time to build quality shoes. Or perhaps a child who broke his toy on the first day after receiving it. In his opinion, a wiser child might still want to destroy the toy, but at least get as much enjoyment out of it as possible before that happened. "I've always wanted a child," he told Salid with a smile on his face as he pressed the button on his remote and sent a jolt of electricity through his body once again. "How about you, Captain? A child to experiment with? You know, everyone experiments with their children. We tell them stories, we try different punishments and teaching methods...we experiment to determine what works. I am no different...my study is just of a more intellectual nature than most," he explained. He pushed the button again, enjoying watching the Captain's body jolt. (reply Salid) He deactivated the electricity for a moment to adjust one of the wires, pulling it slowly and painfully through the Captain's flesh and then shocking him again. "There," he said satisfactorily. "Aesthetically speaking, that angle was much more pleasing to the eye." Suddenly, he heard a sound behind him as multiple people beamed in and trained phaser rifles on his head. He was completely shocked. How did they find him? He was sure his plan was foolproof...he had checked it multiple times... But he didn't even get a word out before he found himself flying backward through the air, someone's phaser shot draining the life out of him. He didn't even know if he was stunned or killed, but regardless, his eyes slid closed as he winced in pain and took one last longing look at Salid, who he never finished playing with. ~What a waste...~ His world faded away. (reply any) (posted by Morgan G) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (SB Geneva - Holodeck 22/ Phased out - CO, Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid - Day 21 - 0257) Ahmed ached. It was a strange sort of feeling, not really painful, yet at the same time his conscious mind knew that it should be. He knew that his body was suffering, but the drugs that he had taken were preventing the very worst of the reactions and leaving him with only the more tolerable discomfort. The wires passing through pockets of skin and muscle were the most disconcerting, since their activation caused Ahmed's muscles to convulse in random spasms of pressure. The jerking should be physically intolerable, yet the only real discomfort that the electric shocks caused was an occasional clenching of his jaw or a slight irregularity in his heart beat. And then there were the green breaks in his bones, caused by the constant powerful gusts of air that slammed into his body in repetitive thrusts of sharp pressure. His skin had bruised and in some cases split under the blows, and Ahmed could tell by the swelling that there were breaks, because even without the pain, the body still reacted to the stimuli that it was given. Two copies of his sacred book had been desecrated, but Ahmed wasn't concerned about that, only because he knew that Hayden's justice would come swiftly. Turning the man over to Starfleet intelligence would be as much a painful affair for him, perhaps more so, than Hayden's actions here were supposed to be. Watching the repeated deaths of his crew was difficult until he realized that he could always see those same events time and time again anyway. There was nothing to do except accept the inevitability of the past and to convert the anger and pain into a useable learning lesson that he could apply later. In an ironic sort of way, it was as if Hayden was stoking the fires of a massive boiler whose pressure relief valve was jammed closed. He was in more danger than he realized and yet he kept on shoveling the coal into the belly of the beast. "I've always wanted a child," Hayden stated with a smile on his face as he pressed the button on his remote and sent a jolt of electricity through Ahmed's body once again. "How about you, Captain? A child to experiment with? You know, everyone experiments with their children. We tell them stories, we try different punishments and teaching methods...we experiment to determine what works. I am no different...my study is just of a more intellectual nature than most," he explained. He pushed the button again, obviously enjoying watching the Captain's body jolt. Ahmed didn't answer, in fact he was too busy trying to determine the extent of a new injury. During the shock treatment, he had bitten the inside of his lip or the tip of his tongue. He could taste blood. He spit it out onto his trouser legs. "You know the old adage of 'what goes around comes around?'" Ahmed asked then. Hayden just smiled and just jabbed and prodded one of the electrical points into Ahmed's flesh. "There," he said satisfactorily. "Aesthetically speaking, that angle was much more pleasing to the eye." Then Ahmed heard it; the sound of transporters. Hayden twisted in complete surprise, as a half dozen personnel beamed into the compartment and fired on him. Ahmed was smiling as Hayden fell. The section 31 operative caught Salid's eyes, and the Captain of the Rosenante just winked as he watched the man lose consciousness. (reply none yet) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (SB Geneva - Holodeck 22 - ACEO Lt Eian O'Neill - Day 21 - 0305) As soon as Eian beamed in and saw Hayden standing over the Captain, he didn't even think. He just fired. He hit the man at point-blank range, and so did someone else, but Eian wasn't sure whose phaser rifle had accompanied his. It was done. Just like that, after all the hardship this man had caused, he was now on the ground, unconscious by two very high-powered phaser rifles set on stun. "Secure him," Eian ordered a nearby security officer, and the man answered, "Aye, Sir," and went to tie the operative's hands. Meanwhile Liam ordered another officer to scan the room for boobie traps and to begin work to permanently destabilize the phasing field. Otherwise, it would come back online in a few minutes. Eian ordered the docking ports to stand down their order of no egress but to block ingress until specified. They had to be sure Section 31 didn't have anything else up its sleeve. The Captain was a mess. Eian had studied criminal history and knew that sociopaths like Hayden were capable of extreme horrors. He had experienced some of those horrors himself, but of his own volition, on the holodeck under controlled settings. He had also had his body hacked apart under some not-so-controlled settings, not long ago. He had an inkling of how the Captain must have felt, but he wouldn't dare claim that he understood fully, because it was a different experience for each victim. Still, he felt that Salid, at least, would understand a bit better exactly how *he* had felt when assimilated. For the first time since his assimilation, he experienced true sympathy toward the Captain, whose feet had been cut open and sewn like shoes, and whose body now sported some type of wire that was woven in and out like stitching on a blanket. He had several broken bones, too, from some type of air pulsing devices that Eian surveyed with curiosity. He hadn't seen ones like that before. Fisher went to work, Liam continued to give orders to the security and station personnel, Raschen was guarding the unconscious Hayden, the security personnel had announced that the holodeck was clear, and Eian found himself with nothing to do. Until the Captain was beamed to the secure area in Sickbay, they would stay here and guard him just in case. Fisher had to deem him safe to transport, and for that she probably had to remove some of the wire that sewed his body--literally--to the previously electrically charged chair. He couldn't believe that the Captain was conscious. Those must have been some very powerful drugs. "Sir, I'm sorry it took us so long," Eian apologized. "But we got him." He gave his commanding officer a slight smile, which probably came out as more of a grimace. After a pause, he moved closer to the Captain and squatted down next to him, glancing at his gruesome injuries. "Allah answered my prayers, Sir. He kept you safe." It would seem an absurd thing to say, to some. First of all, for a Christian to use Muslims' name for God, second; to suggest that Allah had 'kept safe' a man who was now in fairly rough shape. But Eian didn't see any kind of injury that couldn't be cured by a little bit of time in Sickbay, and though embarrassing and psychologically disturbing, the torture wasn't bad enough to make the Captain lose consciousness. They had found him alive. Eian counted it as a victory. (reply Salid iyw) (posted by Morgan G) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (SB Geneva - Holodeck 22/ Phased out - CO, Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid - Day 21 - 0308) "Sir, I'm sorry it took us so long," Eian apologized as Fisher went to work on freeing Ahmed from the chair. "But we got him." He gave his commanding officer a slight smile, which probably came out as more of a grimace. After a pause, he moved closer to the Captain and squatted down next to him, glancing at his gruesome injuries. "Allah answered my prayers, Sir. He kept you safe." Ahmed nodded. "He always has Eian." he replied, "And I suspect he always will." Ahmed took a deep breath and winced at a sudden influx of pain from his ribs. Fisher was gingerly removing a strand of wire from them and she gave him an apologetic look. He just smiled at his personnel. "You should have seen the complete and utter look of surprise on his face when you beamed in, Eian. He'd been beaten and he knew it. He couldn't understand how either, he couldn't grasp the concept that he'd been lured in so that we could capture him." The captain was suddenly energized as he realized that they had won. Without a thought he leveled himself into a standing position against Fisher's protests, tearing the wires loose from his skin and leaving long red gashes where they tore through the skin with ease. His knees nearly buckled but Eian caught him. Propping his captain upright for a few moments as Ahmed took a deep breath and then through strength of will forced his body to stand upright. He stretched his back slightly, which only caused the cuts on his chest and abdomen to bleed more. But he somehow didn't seem to care. he looked across the room at Liam and the cluster of men that surrounded the unconscious Hayden. "Take him to the Brig aboard the Rosenante. Keep him separate from Santos and keep him under close observation and suicide watch. in fact, keep him sedated." he ordered. He turned to look at kitty, who was dressing some wounds of his that were on his back. She chided him. "Let's get back to the ship. I don't want to be here any longer than needed." He stated. Then he turned back to O'Neill. "Lieutenant, call the Rosenante for our retrieval. I want to go home." (reply none needed) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (SB Geneva - Holodeck 22/ Phased out - ACEO Lt Eian O'Neill - Day 21 - 0311) Eian experienced a flutter of panic when the Captain stood, and nearly winced as if it were his own body that had wires ripping through its flesh. He steadied the Captain as he stumbled--understandably so, with broken bones that weren't able to support him--and was about to tell Salid that he had better sit down. From his tactical training, Eian could recognize the signs of drugs affecting one's judgment and this was one of those times. It was clear that Ahmed's intellect was intact, but his judgment of his own physical limitations was severely compromised. He gave the order to take Hayden to the brig and keep him sedated, and Eian's father and some of the other security personnel beamed out. Then Eian was ordered to call the Rosenante. "I want to go home," the Captain stated. "Yes, Sir. I don't blame you." He tapped his communicator and contacted the transporter chief who he had enlisted for this specific purpose. "O'Neill to Chief Dobson. Beam the remaining individuals in Holodeck 22 to Sickbay immediately." Because the transporter could be disorienting, and Eian remembered how difficult it was for an injured person to catch his balance once reassembled, he supported Salid's elbow with his palm, firmly gripping it in case he started to go down. The blue sparkles engulfed them, and Eian felt like he could finally, at least partially relax. The Captain was safe. He had gotten the call from an engineer--Eian O'Neill or something like that--who told him to report to Sickbay. He wasn't sure exactly why, but he guessed that a patient needed counseling. Probably an engineer, since O'Neill was calling. He remembered O'Neill's last name on a roster of people who still hadn't reported for their mandatory psych eval after assimilation. He would have to drop the man a reminder soon, before he left no more time during his extended shore leave and ended up cutting into his duty hours. When he arrived in Sickbay it was not an engineer, but rather the Captain, lying on a bio-bed and being treated for various bruises, lacerations, and some broken bones. Eian was recognizable from his rank, uniform color, and Borg implants that were scattered around his face. He also approached the Counselor and extended his hand. He wore a phaser rifle slung over his shoulder, and Parker figured that he must have some tactical training. His body language reminded the counselor more of a trained security officer than of an engineer. "Counselor," the man spoke, "the Captain has just gone through a difficult time. There are drugs in his system that the doctor can't safely counteract, and he's going to be up for a few more hours. I called you so that he could share with you whatever he wants. When I offered to call you, he didn't decline." Eian had a sympathetic look on his face, something that told Parker that he had some emotional investment in whatever had just happened. "Alright," Parker said carefully, always one to take information in and reserve opinions for later. "I'd be happy to. Thanks for calling." Eian nodded, gave the Captain a brief wave and smiled respectfully--no, admiringly, Parker corrected himself--before departing. The counselor approached Ahmed and sat down. He surveyed the Captain's injuries and his facial expression, his body language, and the look on his face. Then he decided on a greeting. "A hell of a way to spend shore leave," he said, and smiled sympathetically. He waited for Ahmed to start the real conversation. Once she was released from medical after the incident on the station Jessica saw it prudent to move back on ship and stay out of peoples way. She made use of the holodeck, preferring to spend her time getting back into shape by sparing, and dancing. Which after eighteen days of she was back in top form, well almost. Jessica still could not find sleep, it seemed every time she closed her eyes some new horror was there to meet her. Jessica by now had read though Lily's file enough to nearly have it memorized but knowing the history and living it is always two distinctly different things. She wondered if the Captain would ever trust her again. Salid had gone though a great and terrible pain to bring down Hayden, but why? She was happy that Ben had his parents back, when he spoke of them in the past she could sense that he regretted not being able to help them. He had always spoken very fondly of them, he had missed them a lot. They headed to the Rosenante, Ben insisted on sleeping in his own bed for a change. She thought back to seeing the Rosenante for the first time through a view port, she was a beautiful ship. Ben seemed proud to call her home, now she was getting to see her and to go aboard. Once on board Ben gave her a short tour, leading from the airlock to his quarters. He promised he'd show her more in the morning. They shared a quiet meal together in his quarters and then it was time to call it a night, Ben allowed her to shower and change in private like a gentlemen and then she did the same. They had both climbed into bed together, Ben cuddled into her back and wrapped his arms around her, something she had missed in his absence. It hadn't taken him long to drift of but she was too excited to sleep now. Freya said that she and Ned were returning to Earth soon, she didn't know if Ben would want her to go with them or if she would be allowed to remain on the Rosenante. She had a feeling that Ben wanted her to stay with him, he didn't say as much but she had the feeling. Maybe he had to clear it with Captain Salid first, she'd find out later on for sure. She wanted to stay with Ben, after being seperated for five years she wanted to spend as much time with him as she could. She closed her eyes and let her mind drift, she couldn't wait to see what tomorrow would bring. The hot steaming cup materialized on the platform and Ahmed reached out to take it before cradling it in his hands. The captain of the Rosenante, still sore from his encounter with Hayden, and no longer medicated into apathy, shuffled across the room before placing his cup on a small table next to his favorite lounge chair. He reached over to his small coffee table, and retrieved a worn leather bound book that sat there. Grunting as he dropped into his chair, he gave a long sigh as it wrapped it's cloud-like softness around him. He knew he should be on the bridge, but Doctor Fisher had insisted that he take a couple of days off from his duties. For once in his life, he didn't feel like arguing with a doctor, and so he had resigned himself to his room, where he worked out the few remaining aches and pains that plagued him, with hot tea, stretching and reading. With a smile, Ahmed removed the magnetic fastener and flipped the book open to its first page. He read aloud for his own benefit. "All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. The Beneficent, the Merciful. Master of the Day of Judgment. Thee do we serve and Thee do we beseech for help. Keep us on the right path. The path of those upon whom Thou hast bestowed favors. Not of those upon whom Thy wrath is brought down, nor of those who go astray."
